Imani Dorsey, NWSL Player for Sky Blue FC, 2018 NWSL Rookie of the Year, former Division I Student-Athlete at Duke University, 2017 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, describes her journey in sport as "invigorating, draining, but rewarding." She shares the ups and downs of her incredible journey in sport through adapting to new positions, facing criticism, and also setting and achieving lofty goals. Imani sheds light on her challenges with mental health and emphasizes the importance of balance and a strong support system in molding our lives on and off of the field. Imani encourages us to build confidence through what we bring to the team and to also find happiness outside of sport, and she reminds us all that it is okay to not be okay.
“We're always taught that we have to be tough and we have to be gritty and push through things, which is important in sports. Determination is good, but not at the cost of your own mental health and your wellbeing.” - Imani Dorsey
