(00:27):
Good morning, welcome to The Voice of
Yoga, Let's Talk Consciousness.
I am your hostess, Lisa Winton, and with

Jayananda, founder of the Institute for
Personal Development, located here in
Hampton, New Hampshire.
Good morning, Swami.
Thank you for being here today.
How are you?
Good morning.
I'm doing pretty good today.

(00:49):
How about you?
I'm doing great today too.
Thanks for asking.
And we'd like to thank
you all for tuning in.
Today on The Voice of Yoga, we will talk
about apotheosis, the process of the
human becoming Divine.
Listen as we explore the progression of
belief in the Divine Principle up to
understanding which demonstrates Divine
Law with Scientific certainty.

(01:11):
In this podcast, we will explain when and
why the effortful work of concentration
becomes the effortless
flow state of meditation.
Welcome to The Voice of Yoga.
We are talking consciousness.
Join the Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance to
get the Light in your soul and be Divine.
Swami, the title of today's show is

(01:32):
Accepting the Spiritual Fact.
And as a matter of fact, what I had done
is, in preparation for this show, I did
Google for AI's definition of a Spiritual
fact, and this is
what it had come up with.
"A Spiritual fact is a deep, internal
truth about reality, human existence, or
Divine Principles that

(01:53):
exist beyond the physical world.
Unlike empirical facts, Spiritual facts
are not observed or measured
scientifically, but are revealed through
faith, Spiritual experiences, and an
inner understanding of a higher power or
universal consciousness."
Swami, just like to get your thoughts
about what I had just read.

(02:14):
Well, I like what they said there about
that they are not observed
scientifically, because that would be the
one thing that I think
we could disagree with.
Just because you can't observe it with
your corporeal senses,
the idea of repenting in the Bible, this
idea of thinking differently.

(02:36):
Even though science seems to be catching
up with Mary Baker Eddy
with regard to observation.
When Einstein was on the planet, people
thought when you weren't looking at
things, they were there.
And now science is saying, "No, what
we're calling life is
observation dependent."
What science hasn't figured out is how we

(02:59):
think is what we become, but there are
modes of thinking, three modes of mortal
thought that do work on
contrast, work in duality.
But the operations of Divine Mind to
think with God, as God
is really Scientific.

(03:20):
That is Scientific Knowing.
What Jesus means when he says, "Know the
Truth and it will make you free."
Knowing the Truth, the Divine Creation,
the Scientific fact, the Spiritual fact
will free you from the false sense of
existence, this dualistic mental-material

(03:41):
concept driven by a belief in two powers.
Swami, what
is the Spiritual fact?
Yeah, accepting the Spiritual fact.
Life is Perfect, Eternal,
Changeless, Absolute Goodness.
This is the fact, the
Truth, the only Reality.

(04:03):
So why are we struggling, suffering,
worrying, protecting,
improving, indulging?
Because we don't Know the Truth.
We don't make ourselves
Spiritual and Perfect.
We come out of the belief in
the false sense of existence,
the mental-material

(04:24):
world of make-believe.
Swami, what does govern the mental-
material world of make-believe?
Yeah, it is driven by belief.
Belief is what gives it the
power that it seems to have.
And the mortal mind is continuously
influencing us to think God is present

(04:49):
when there isn't any demonstration and
God is absent when He is Omnipresent.
We can't bring forth the Divine image
with the mortal mind.
And if we don't believe in this false
sense of existence, then it has no life.

(05:11):
So stop trying to figure out
how the unreal became real.
Spirit is the only
Self-Existent power in the universe,
but we must be conscious of it to
activate it in experience.
And thinking about it isn't the same as

(05:31):
being conscious of it.
So we must develop the faculty which
receives Divine Revelation.
Repent is the way they
explain that in the Bible.
Think differently.
We don't make ourselves Spiritual.
We come out of the belief there is
something other than the Divine Creation.

(05:54):
And the mind can't free
itself from its own creation.
So we learn how to control how we think.
We learn how to stop thinking.
We make our mind an avenue of awareness
for the Omnipresent Divine Creative
Principle functioning everywhere always.

(06:17):
And in that Silence and Stillness, we
watch, wait, listen, we let Divine Mind
reveal itself to us from within.
Swami, can we talk more about this
apotheosis, which we said earlier is the
process of the human becoming Divine?

(06:38):
Yeah, this is what we call initiation.
There is a developmental process.
And in earlier times, they had points of
passage, rites of passage.
Creation is not going to reveal itself to
an unworthy opponent.
And if we continue to just live

(06:59):
instinctually by thinking, breathing,
eating, sleeping, fornicating, we
survive, but we don't grow Spiritually.
In order for us to grow Spiritually, we
had to depart from the
pattern that is in the body.
We had to be born again of Spirit.

(07:20):
And that's not just a declaration.
You literally have to rebirth your body
in the invisible,
intangible Divine Omnipresence.
You must purify the mind-body complex,
internalize Spirit as your
new symbol for validation.
Otherwise, we continue to be controlled

(07:43):
by the fear, what Mary Baker
Eddy called animal magnetism.
It is a hypnotic state.
And until we separate from this pattern
and we begin to develop our mental
functions, perception, reason, memory,

(08:03):
intuition, to make conscious choices
based on a value system in accordance
with universal order, we continue to be
reactive, emotional, controlled by the
testimony of the corporeal senses,
fear-based motivation.

(08:23):
So we have to initiate this process.
And if we don't, then there's no way of
us experiencing what scripture promises,
this birth of Christ in consciousness.
Christ is the saving aspect of Truth.
It's what makes the Divine Creation

(08:45):
comprehensive to human
consciousness, the interface.
Without it, there's no way
of us Knowing this Truth.
Swami, maybe some of our listeners at this
point might be interested in finding out
what would the process entail?
Well, it's the
separation, the journey, the return.

(09:06):
We have to separate the mind from being
individualized by the world mind and then
relink this inner marriage rejoining the
new covenant where you now internalize
Spirit as your symbol for validation.
When matter and mind come together with

(09:26):
Spirit, that's what impregnates the seed
of consciousness, what enables our field
of awareness to begin to expand, to grow
in a positive direction.
And then of course this whole thing has
got to be tested as we go along.
You have to start with belief.

(09:47):
Like A.I. said, we can
graduate from belief to faith.
Belief in Divine Truth.
Spirit is a demonstrable Principle.
It's a Law.
Conscious awareness of it and belief in
this Divine Principle then begins to
demonstrate how we

(10:08):
think is what we become.
And so belief graduates to faith and
you're starting to see the coincidence
between the human and the Divine in the
testimony of your senses.
But then faith
graduates to understanding.
And at the level of understanding you now

(10:30):
demonstrate Divine Law
with Scientific certainty.
Swami, you said that we
can believe in anything.
How do we know if what we are believing
in is of the Divine Principle?
Yeah, I like what the Bible says.
From the fruits, why your belief in the

(10:51):
Divine Principle must graduate to faith.
You have to start to get this coincidence
between the human and the Divine.
If you are not seeing the changes in the
testimony of your corporeal senses, then
challenge what it is
that you're believing in.

(11:11):
Because it's very easy
to think you're Spiritual.
To think you Know Truth but you're still
working with a human concept about It.
It all comes down to how we're thinking.
If we're thinking with the mortal mind,
you're thinking in terms of duality.

(11:33):
Even your good intentions will be under
material law, karmic law.
So for every action there's an equal and
an opposite reaction.
Good intentions have a complementary,
unmanifested bad part.
It will reveal itself in
the testimony of your senses.

(11:54):
Because if, say for
example, you have an outcome.
We know with mortal mind and belief we
can change finite bad to finite good.
But then it will eventually
cycle back and reveal itself.
You'll have a relapse or it will manifest
itself in another area.

(12:15):
But it will start to show what you're
doing is not the Divine Principle.
Why in the Bible it says, "Except the
Lord build the house, they
labor in vain that build it."
If you do it with human will, personal
sense, it will come back and bite you.
But if Divine Mind is doing Its Knowing

(12:38):
in your awareness, then it will be
Changeless, Perfect, Whole,
beneficial for all involved.
Swami let's explain when and why the
effortful work of concentration becomes
the effortless flow state of meditation.

(12:58):
Yeah, I find terms like meditation and
prayer have become Americanized.
They are watered down and deluded and
people think they meditate.
Meditation by definition is
the seventh stage of Yoga.
It's the eighth stage of Buddhism.
There is a tremendous amount of

(13:19):
preparatory work that must be in place in
order for one to meditate in the true
mystical sense of the word.
Yoga begins with Yama, the abstentions.
And the fifth Yama is Brahmacharya,
carrier of Brahman, this union of the

(13:39):
individual with the Divine.
If you do not rebirth your body in
Spirit, then it doesn't
matter what you do after that.
You will have absolutely
no advancement Spiritually
because matter and mind
are required in this formula.

(14:02):
You can't just deny
you have a physical body.
You have to master the mind-body complex,
this effortful work to separate identity
from the influence of the world mind.
So you need to develop a certain amount
of willpower, your ability to control how

(14:25):
you think and resist influence.
Block out unrelated
matter, focus on a task at hand.
Once you have all your ducks in order,
matter and mind come
together with new information,
the meditative state, the flow state
where that tiny little mind, like a

(14:47):
keyhole, opens up and now you see and
paint with a bigger brush.
Your field of awareness has increased.
Before you could only
do one thing at a time.
Now you can do many things at once.
And of course, if you continue to

(15:07):
advance, you will get yourself to the
point where you will now be able to do
everything at once, which is the
operations of Divine
Mind in your awareness.
We're going to pause right
here to hear from our sponsor.
Listeners, we'll be back
with you in just a few moments.

Welcome back.
For those who are just joining us, you're
listening to The Voice of Yoga and we are
Talking Consciousness.
Swami, I think we should start with Herb
Fitch's Revelation of St.John,

(16:40):
a soundbite from his Class 1B.
And if anybody is interested in the full
audio file or the complete program, you
can get this at
mysticalprincipals.com and I'll play it.
"There must be an easier way.
I can't accept myself to be Christ.
Show me a one-two-three way.

(17:00):
Show me a human way.
Tell me that I can read each night for an
hour, close my eyes, and that angels will
come to me and in the morning
all that I want will be there.
The human mind continues in its own
conditioned concept of
how the way ought to be.
And the Christ says, "I am the way."
It brings you to a place where the word

(17:20):
"Revelation" becomes meaningful to you.
Revelation is not
somebody talking inside you.
Revelation means to reveal that which is.
Only Christ can reveal that which is.
And Revelation then becomes the
expression of God
through your Christ Self.

(17:42):
That is the living Word.
And that living Word, that expression of
God in the Christ of you is Revelation.
And then it reveals in this physical
manifest universe the
fruits of Christhood.
And the human self of you becomes that
living fruit of Christhood.

(18:03):
The outer form and its conditions in this
world become the fruit of
the Christed Self within.
But if you let the tail wag the dog, if
you let this outer mind try to channel
and decide things for the inner Christ,
then you fall into the trap of all
mankind that is seeking
a holy grail out here.
Your authority is now

(18:24):
revealed as Christ within you.
And you can either
accept or deny that authority.
We can return to our conventional ways.
We can settle for a degree of comfort in
a physical universe.
We all have that option.
That is not the path of those who elect
to live in the Christ.
And they go their way
and many of them are happy.

(18:46):
Many of them are successful.
Many of them are comfortable and safe.
But the Christ message says that we do
not want that snare and
delusion for ourselves.
Because that is not Christ safety, Christ
success, Christ comfort.
And it can be snatched away by the tides
of human circumstance.
It has no sustaining law.

(19:07):
It has no substance of the Father.
It is not a spiritual fact.
It is a mental fact.
And anything that is a mental fact is
subject to the change of minds.
This world is a mental fact.
Revelation is the perception through soul
of the reality that underlies the mental
images of this world.

(19:28):
The revelation then of Saint John is
going to bring forth that which underlies
the images of this world.
Which underlies the conditions that today
are called pollution, overpopulation,
famine, poverty, war, violence, hate.
These are conditions of this world.
And right where they appear as parts of

(19:50):
group consciousness, right
where even the weather appears.
I in the midst of thee stand in the
permanent grace of the kingdom of God on
earth, invisible to human
sense, but always at hand.
And you who elect to accept the essence
of God, the Christ as your substance and
the one life as your life, you are

(20:11):
privileged to enter
that kingdom on earth now.
Walking behind the visible, behind the
appearances of war and desecration,
behind the violence and the racism,
behind the flowing of blood.
On earth in a kingdom where there is
peace now, where there is safety now,
where there is health now.
But don't try to walk in there as a

(20:32):
mortal being in a body of flesh.
You won't find the door.
You can only walk in there when you have
accepted yourself to be living spirit.
And then I, the spirit of you, will take
you into the kingdom of heaven on earth.
Now that is where we're going as a
servant of God, as one who is listening
through the soul to the revelation of the

(20:54):
eternal Christ as
expressing in the words of John.
Our destination is heaven on earth.
Our identity is son of the living father.
And our will is going to be chastened
until all personal concepts dissolve.
Until we find the eternal will of the
infinite is the only
will to which we respond.

(21:15):
We will be walking in that rhythm of the
infinite, only as the Christ.
If we have accepted so far that Christ
within you is your authority, then you
are ready to be a faithful witness to
that Christ, faithful
servant to the Most High.
And this is how we will break the fetters
of a mortal life that must end.
We're still in the earliest

(21:37):
part of the first chapter.
But I think through the spirit we are
learning that this is
either our message or it isn't.
It has something for us
or we know it does not.
It will probably be a deeper or higher
level of our spiritual pattern than we
have known hitherto.
And what you might practice is something
that I have found to be

(21:58):
valuable beyond words.
That which is not the
life of God does not exist.
That which is not spirit does not exist.
And it has no opposite.
It has no second life.
That which is not spiritual life,
spiritual substance, is non-life.
You have an opportunity to decide if you

(22:18):
are life or non-life, if your neighbors
are life or non-life.
And you will discover that when you know
that spirit alone is life, that all that
is not spirit is non-life, then you will
further find that that which
is non-life is also non-power.
I found it very helpful to get away from
the good and bad judgment of the

(22:40):
testimony of the corporeal senses and
starting to work with Life
and non-life or Real and unreal.
As long as you understand God did not
make anything that can die, you've got a
much better handle on
the nature of Spirit.
As you move through this world,

(23:04):
start by telling the truth about the
Truth and telling the
truth about the lie.
It doesn't negate what you see with your
corporeal senses, but when you know the
Truth-- nobody's born, nobody dies,
there's only One Life.
So, resolve this physical body into a

(23:28):
mental image capable of
receiving Divine Revelation.
Jesus would refer to this as to "rise."
Rise into the body of Christ, a larger
sense of Self without vulnerability.
Understand yourself to be Perfect.

(23:50):
Swami, we have a quote here from Mary Baker
Eddy, Science and Health
with Key to the Scriptures.
Maybe another way of saying what Herb was
saying to us, page 277, lines 29 to 32.
"Nothing we can say or believe regarding
matter is immortal, for matter is
temporal and is therefore a mortal
phenomenon, a human concept, sometimes

(24:14):
beautiful, always erroneous."
End of the quote.
Can you give us your thoughts on this?
This idea of finite good.
If we are drawing from the outside world,
driven by the belief in two powers, the
only thought that is pure is Divine Idea,

(24:35):
without the complementary
unmanifested other part.
So learn how to stop forming thoughts and
opinions based on information coming
through the corporeal senses and make our
minds an avenue of awareness for the
Silence and Stillness of the Divine
Principle and let it do

(24:57):
Its Knowing in our awareness.
Swami, how do we
accept Spiritual identity?
We can't put an Infinite Mind in a finite
form, so learn how to resolve the
physical body into a mental image capable
of receiving Divine inspiration.

(25:19):
This is the initiation of the
developmental process called apotheosis.
It begins with born of Spirit, leading to
the faculty capable of receiving Divine
Revelation, and learn how to be
instructed by the Divine Principle, which

(25:41):
reveals the Scientific
treatment that heals.
Swami, I have another quote here from Mary
Baker Eddy, and I'll read it.
"I saw the love of God encircling the
universe and man, filling all space, and
that divine Love so permeated my own
consciousness that I loved with

(26:02):
Christlike compassion everything I saw.
This realization of divine Love called
into expression the beauty of holiness,
the Perfection of Being, which healed and
regenerated and saved all
who turned to me for help."
End of the quote.
Swami, can you give us the instructional
version of this quote?

(26:22):
We must first behold the Love of God
encircling the universe
and Man, filling all space.
Then second, allow this divine love to
permeate our own consciousness so we can
Love with Christlike
compassion everything we see.

(26:43):
Finally third, Realize Divine Love calls
into expression the beauty of Holiness,
the Perfection of Being, that heals,
regenerates, and saves
all who are conscious of It.
End of instruction.
Working with this idea of a progression,

(27:03):
my teacher Kriyananda used to say,
"Everything is thrice compounded.
Things happen in threes.
The developmental process, unconscious
awareness to self-conscious awareness to
super-conscious awareness, caterpillar,
chrysalis, butterfly.
What Mary Baker Eddy called the three

(27:24):
degrees of mortal mind.
Physical, moral, and spiritual.
Progression that takes place as we learn
by practicing what we already know.
If you can take just the simplest thing,
your belief in the Divine Creation and

(27:44):
work with that on a regular basis, test
it to see if you're starting to graduate
from belief to faith.
Is it starting to affect
the testimony of your senses?
And also being able to recognize the
difference between an outcome and
Spiritual demonstration because there

(28:06):
must be a difference.
Like Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and
Health with Key to the Scriptures, page
289, 25 to 27, and I'll read it.
"The spiritual fact and the material
belief of things are contradictions, but
the spiritual is true, and therefore the

(28:28):
material must be untrue."
End of quote.
And another one I really like with the
marginal heading "Truth by Inversion."
And I'll read it.
"If you wish to know the spiritual fact,
you can discover it by
reversing the material fable,
be the fable pro or con,-- be it in accord

(28:51):
with your preconceptions or
utterly contrary to them."
End of quote.
That's on page 129, 7 to 10.
What she would call the wolf and the wolf
in sheep's clothing.
And she was way more concerned with
finite good than she was with sickness,

(29:13):
suffering, disease, lack, and limitation.
