Swami I see the title of today's show is
Becoming Heir to Divine Royalty.
I have a curiosity, becoming heir to me
sounds like it is
something we have to do.
(01:45):
We're not already there.
I know there are others that think that
they are already heirs to this Divinity.
What are your thoughts?
Well, it's an interesting topic.
It reminds me of what comes
first, the bird or the egg.
What we want to talk about here is what
happens when one
awakens to the Divine Truth.
(02:07):
It's true, we do not make ourselves
Eternal Spiritual Beings.
However, One Life everywhere always.
And it's the only Life I am.
This is what is meant by
the term meek or humility.
(02:28):
I like what Thoreau said.
'Humility like darkness
reveals the heavenly lights."
As Jesus said, all
the Father has is thine.
The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
So why am I crawling around on the planet
struggling with a good and evil world?
(02:50):
Because I am the reflection of the Immortal
Self, but I think I'm a finite mortal
being with problems.
So what has to be done
before I can Know the Truth?
The first thing that comes to my mind is
born again of Spirit.
(03:12):
Something that really helped me quite a
bit was if you've ever listened to
Christian Science Daily Lifts.
There is a daily lift by Scott Preller on
Stellaluna, who is a bat
that thinks it's a bird.
I'll leave a link on our blog page.
(03:35):
But I think it's really important to
start to understand if we are not walking
in the kingdom of heaven, if we are not
healing the sick, reforming sin, or
raising the dead, then we have to
understand, we have a belief in something
other than the Divine
(03:56):
creation, the Truth of Being.
Swami I'm reminded of that saying I've been
hearing for years, and that is we're not
human beings but we are Spiritual beings.
But I don't think that
saying quite goes far enough.
Can you maybe dig a
little deeper with that?
Well I think at some point we come to the
(04:17):
realization that if we just live
instinctually by thinking, breathing,
eating, sleeping, fornicating,
we survive but we don't grow.
In order for us to grow, we must initiate
this progressive cycle.
Some tampering has to happen here.
Earlier times had points of passage,
(04:39):
rites of passage, religions had these,
and today we have none of this.
And yet look at where we are collectively
with the problems we struggle with.
Why?
I think when you listen to Scott Preller's
Daily Lift, the first thing that he says
(05:00):
is this bat that thinks it's a bird has
to stop thinking like a bird.
So we come in, we are Eternal Spiritual
Being, but we think
we're a finite mortal being.
And so the first order of business for me
would be that we have to
stop thinking like a human.
(05:23):
And then of course we have to be taught
how to think like an Immortal Being in a
completely different identity.
As a mortal being we're in time, in
space, we're in duality.
As the Immortal Self we are in Infinity,
(05:44):
Eternity, everywhere, always.
The mind that we are using as a human
being does not have the capacity to
perceive this Absolute Wholeness.
So the command in the Bible
was repent, think differently.
And if we don't have leadership to teach
(06:07):
us how to stop thinking with five
corporeal senses and start Knowing with
seven Spiritual senses, and then of
course what is that going to
look like when I'm doing it?
Because it's very easy
to say I'm Spiritual.
I look at Life through a Spiritual lens.
(06:27):
I look at Life through Spiritual
perception when you're still using the
same mind you use to get you through your
day to day activities.
So what's the difference?
The biggest factor here is what Mary
Baker Eddy did was she put healing on the
(06:49):
table, demonstration.
And that's one of the reasons why I think
it'd be really valuable for us to focus
on some of her work.
And for this podcast let's look at what
inspired the topic which came from
Science in Health with
Key to the Scriptures.
And today we're going to look at page
(07:09):
140:25-32.
Then we'll look at page 141.
And then page 142, lines 1 to 24.
And it starts with a
marginal heading, anthropomorphism.
On page 140, 25 to 32.
(07:34):
I'll read it.
"The Christian Science God is universal,
eternal, divine Love, which changeth not
and causeth no evil, disease nor death.
It is indeed mournfully true that the
older scripture is reversed.
In the beginning God created man in His
God's image, but mortals would procreate
(07:56):
man and make God in
their own human image.
What is the God of a
mortal but a mortal magnified?"
End of the verse.
This is where it starts to fall apart for
us because we don't Know God aright.
We have this anthropomorphic image.
We think God is a human
(08:17):
with supernatural powers.
And so we don't have any point of
reference as to what it is to be Spirit.
And of course we fall into this classic
trap which was called sin, the archery
term, missing the mark.
We mistake the impermanent for the
Permanent, the unreal for the Real,
(08:40):
mental-material for Spiritual.
It's not like God doesn't want us to have
it some other way, it's just this is the
physics of Spirituality.
There is one way that this goes right and
everything else misses the mark.
It's a sin.
(09:00):
So you either comply with the how to do
this or you continue to
repeat the same mistake.
We live in this cycle of death and
rebirth under the law of karma and
perpetuate the belief in two powers and
(09:21):
we are out of the Father's house.
We are not receiving
our Divine inheritance.
And so the key question here is why?
If I am an Eternal Spiritual Being, I am
the reflection of an
indestructible Principle.
(09:42):
Why am I growing old?
Why do I appear to be getting sick and
feeble and I have problems?
What you're going to find is there are
things that are missing.
And what we've learned is that we have to
develop the faculty that will enable us
to receive this Divine revelation, to be
(10:05):
able to think differently,
to be able to Know the Truth that will
make us free from the belief.
We are a finite mortal being.
Once you understand this entire human
experience is a hypnotic state.
It is a belief.
(10:25):
It's not the Truth, but as long as I
continue to believe in it and I react to
the testimony of my senses, I am the one
that is giving it the
life it doesn't have.
And so what is the methodology I need to
enlist in order for me to be able to
(10:47):
perceive this Truth?
Scripture promises.
Well it starts with
this idea of thinking.
If I think I'm a finite mortal being, if
I believe that I'm a finite mortal being,
how do I stop thinking?
As Scott Preller told us, how does
Stellaluna stop thinking like a bird?
(11:11):
How do I stop thinking as a human being?
Well a big part of that is
we have to educate ourselves.
What would it look like if I was thinking
like an Immortal Self?
What would it look like if I acknowledged
myself to be an Eternal Principle?
(11:33):
What does it look like when I am
everywhere always
instead of here and now?
And once you start to challenge the
beliefs we have accepted collectively and
you start to open yourself up to maybe
making some changes,
(11:54):
changing in how we're thinking, how we're
breathing, what we're drinking, what
we're eating, maybe
even how we're exercising.
Taking some of the suggestions we get
from Mary Baker Eddy or Kriya Yoga and
applying them, once you start to work
(12:14):
with this relativity,
you start to see
everything is affecting everything.
How we think is what we become.
But there are modes of thinking, three
modes of mortal thought that we have to
master and then this idea
of thinking with Divine Mind.
(12:36):
As Mary Baker Eddy said,
to think with God as God.
Now this is where the Truth lies.
But what do I have to do to be able to
access this ability to think with the
Mind that can bring
(12:57):
forth the Divine image?
Swami, what suggestions might you have for us
to enable us to be able to think
differently with the Mind that can bring
forth the Divine image?
Well the first thing that comes to my
mind is what Jesus said,
"Born again of Spirit."
I also like what Mary Baker Eddy wrote in
(13:17):
Christian Healing and I'll read it.
"You must first mentally educate and
develop the spiritual sense or perceptive
faculty by which one learns the
metaphysical treatment of disease.
You must teach them how to learn together
(13:38):
with what they learn.
I waited many years for a student to
reach the ability to teach.
It included more than they understood."
Then she continues, "Metaphysical or
divine Science reveals the Principle and
method of perfection.
(13:59):
How to attain a mind in harmony with God,
in sympathy with all that is right and
opposed to all that is wrong, and a body
governed by this mind."
This idea of a body
governed by the Divine Mind.
When you start to put these pieces
(14:21):
together, Yoga means union, the joining
of matter-mind with Spirit.
The idea of internalizing a completely
different symbol for
validation in the physical body.
This is all part of
"Born again of Spirit."
And then of course, what are
(14:42):
the benefits of doing this?
The benefit of internal support?
The benefit of shifting an identity from
a mental-material basis?
Under the government of duality and now
joining with the unified state, the power
of One, Perfect Divine Eternal Life.
(15:07):
One you're drawing from fear and
limitation and the other you're drawing
from Truth and Wholeness.
This sets up what we call
the physics of Spirituality.
Like attracts like.
Now you've got the panel wired.
Moving forward becomes much easier when
(15:28):
you have the support
of the Immortal Self.
We're going to pause right
here to a word from our sponsor.
Listeners we'll be back
with you in just a few moments.
Kriya Yoga Theory 2 is a unique and
revolutionary practice and forum designed
to facilitate the growth
process in human development.
(15:49):
Apotheosis is a real experience
and has an evidence procedure.
You cannot lead someone to permanent
change by doing for them
what they must do themselves.
Personal accountability and
responsibility are the foundation of
Kriya Yoga Theory 2.
You must be engaged and devoted.
(16:16):
Prana Power brings virtue to overcome
fear, wisdom to overcome ignorance,
purpose to overcome selfishness,
enthusiasm to overcome laziness.
Kriya Yoga is a path of
action, knowledge and devotion.
These sessions are a celestial
positioning system to guide the
(16:38):
individual into union with the Divine.

Namaste.
Welcome back.
For those of you who are just joining us,
you're listening to The Voice of Yoga and
(16:58):
we are talking consciousness.
I'm going to continue reading from Science
and Health with
Key to the Scriptures, page 141.
"This indicates the distance between the
theological and ritualistic religion of
the ages and the truth preached by Jesus.
More than profession is requisite for
Christian demonstration.
(17:20):
Few understand or adhere to Jesus's
divine precepts for living and healing.
Why?
Because his precepts require the
discipline to cut off the right hand and
pluck out the right eye.
That is, to set aside even the most
cherished beliefs and
practices to leave all for Christ.
All revelation, such as the popular
(17:41):
thought, must come from the schools and
along the line of scholarly and
ecclesiastical descent as kings are
crowned from a royal dynasty.
In healing the sick and sinning, Jesus
elaborated the fact that the healing
effect followed the understanding of the
divine Principle and of the Christ-spirit
(18:02):
which governed the corporeal Jesus.
For this Principle, there is no dynasty,
no ecclesiastical monopoly.
Its only crowned head
is immortal sovereignty.
Its only priest is the spiritualized man.
The Bible declares that all believers are
made kings and priests unto God.
(18:24):
The outsiders did not then and do not now
understand this ruling of the Christ.
Therefore, they cannot
demonstrate God's healing power.
Neither can this manifestation of Christ
be comprehended until its divine
Principle is scientifically understood.
The adoption of scientific religion and
(18:46):
of divine healing will ameliorate sin,
sickness, and death.
Let our pulpits do
justice to Christian Science.
Let it have fair
representation by the press.
Give to it the place in our institutions
of learning now occupied by scholastic
theology and physiology, and it will
(19:07):
eradicate sickness and sin in less time
than the old systems, devised for subduing
them, have required for
self-establishment and propagation."
End of the passage.
I think the first thing that I want to
talk about right now is
this statement that she makes.
(19:29):
The only priest is the Spiritualized man.
I know we've talked about this the way
the Bible addresses this
process in development.
They use the term man.
This isn't gender sensitive.
Not talking about man as a male.
(19:51):
We are talking about a
level of consciousness.
Before you can graduate to being born of
Spirit, you have to
graduate to being born of man.
So in other words, the first stage in
development is born of woman where we
(20:12):
come in and we are
instinctual, reactive, emotional.
Then we had to
separate from that pattern.
We had to develop human intelligence.
This is what they refer
to as man in the Bible.
Now Spiritualized man is born of Spirit.
(20:34):
So there is definitely a progression here
we must be aware of.
One of the things that you'll learn in
Christian Science is what they call the
milk of Christian Science.
If you have not developed human
intelligence, you can't move right into
born again of Spirit.
(20:56):
We have to qualify before we can walk
reason through this
open door of revelation.
It's very important that you don't try
and do this without first separating from
this pattern that the body comes in with.
(21:17):
The term was born again of
Spirit is what Jesus requires.
But he also says a man
be born again of Spirit.
So there's even a step that we have to
take before we can start
to take these bigger leaps.
And separating from instinct, appetite,
(21:40):
preservation, and
survival is that first step.
Separate from being
individualized by the world mind.
The term in mythology was married to
mother, the Oedipus complex.
We are still drawing
from fear and limitation.
(22:00):
And typically your first point of passage was
around age seven where we should have
separated from mother, figured out that
mother was somebody else out there, had
her own wants, her own
needs and her own life.
We should start making our decisions
based on a value system more in
accordance with universal order.
(22:22):
Because we don't have these points of
passage and we don't have the rights of
passage, we remain in
this underdeveloped state.
So we never separate from mother and then
we deal with this kickback from this
unlived latent potential.
And what's interesting about this, you have
(22:42):
somebody who's in their late 20s or early
30s and smoking a cigarette, drinking a
beer, thinking, "I left home years ago."
Don't understand the inner
event that's going on here.
We're not talking about
your actual parent here.
We're talking about being controlled by
(23:06):
an influence that is beyond
your personal sense of power.
The dynamics of addictive compulsive
behavior, violence, emotionality without
the benefit of intelligence is perilous.
And what we learn is there's nothing
intrinsically evil about this, but there
(23:27):
is this kickback that comes from this
potential that you want to be whole, you
want to be complete.
And so, Mary Baker Eddy when she says,
"Its only priest is the Spiritualized man."
This is what is meant by able to discern
the difference between
(23:47):
human thought and Divine idea.
What Mary Baker Eddy said here, "The
Bible declares that all believers are
made kings and priests unto God.
The outsiders did not then and do not now
understand this ruling of the Christ.
Therefore they cannot
(24:08):
demonstrate God's healing power.
Neither can this manifestation of Christ
be comprehended until its Divine
Principle is scientifically understood."
And until we graduate from thinking with
five corporeal senses to Knowing with
seven Spiritual senses, we really won't
(24:31):
have any point of reference as to what
she's talking about here.
I'll continue reading from Science and
Health of the Key of
the Scriptures, page 142:4-24.
"Anciently the followers of Christ or
Truth, measured Christianity by its power
over sickness, sin, and death;
but modern religions generally omit all
(24:52):
but one of these
powers,-- the power over sin.
We must seek the undivided garment, the
whole Christ, as our first proof of
Christianity, for Christ, Truth alone can
furnish us with absolute evidence.
If the soft palm, upturned to a lordly
salary, and architectural skill, making
(25:13):
dome-inspired tremolous with beauty, turn
the poor and the stranger from the gate,
they at the same time
shut the door on progress.
In vain do the manger and the cross tell
their story to pride and fustian.
Sensuality palsies the right hand, and
causes the left to let go
(25:33):
its grasp on the Divine.
As in Jesus' time, so to-day, tyranny and
pride need to be whipped out of the
temple, and humility and
divine Science to be welcomed in.
The strong cords of scientific
demonstration, as twisted and wielded by
Jesus, are still needed to purge the
temples of their vain traffic and worldly
(25:56):
worship and to make them meet dwelling
places for the Most High."
End of the passage.
Swami, I think it's interesting talking
about the temple here and I
think they mean consciousness.
Would you agree?
Yeah, this idea of purifying
consciousness, the purified human
consciousness, must be put
(26:17):
in the tomb of Divine Knowing.
The reason why it is symbolized by the
tomb is because of the
Silence and the Stillness.
We have to get duality
out of consciousness.
That which cannot bring forth the Divine
image, purifying ourselves, pure of
(26:40):
heart, put off the belief in matter, this
temporary sense of Life absent from the
body, present with the Lord.
There's a progression as thought shifts
from a mental-material
basis to a Spiritual basis.
(27:00):
No longer enamored with the things
appearing in our corporeal senses.
To what degree do we have to purify
ourselves before we can allow Divine Mind
to do Its Thinking in our awareness?
We have to create a hospitable
(27:21):
environment to invite Divine Mind into
our awareness. And thinking,
forming thoughts and opinions based on
information coming through the corporeal
senses becomes the interference pattern.
It is what is creating the veil
(27:42):
preventing us from Knowing the Truth.
And so, things that we learn in Kriya Yoga
like how to control how you think.
So eventually you can stop thinking and
you can make your mind an avenue of
awareness for the presence of this
invisible, intangible Divine Principle
(28:04):
which is pouring out the
Perfection of Being continuously.
But if we do not prepare ourselves to
receive Divine revelation, if we do not
develop the faculty that enables us to
see what the Divine Principle is doing,
(28:25):
then we are not conscious of it.
And consciousness is experience.
And the thing I keep coming back to
that's of the utmost
importance is demonstration.
You cannot be conscious of Divine Truth
and be experiencing these problems we are
(28:45):
struggling with at this mental-material
level of consciousness.
Spirit is before thought and above
corporeal sense and so we must rise and
change things into thoughts and then let
Divine Mind exchange the objects of sense
(29:08):
for the Divine Idea.
It's not magic but it is physics.
