Development, Kriya Yoga Ashram, where
Total Consciousness is the new frontier.
Kriya Yoga is union of the
individual with the Divine.

(00:22):
Join us as we explore the practices to
initiate this process. {End of Music}
Good morning, welcome
to The Voice of Yoga.
Let's talk consciousness.
I am your hostess, Lisa Winton, and with
me is Kenny Toy, also known as Swami
Jayananda, founder of the Institute for
Personal Development, located here in

(00:42):
Hampton, New Hampshire.
Good morning, Swami.
Thank you for being here today.
How are you?
Good morning.
I'm doing very well today.
How about you?
Well, I'm doing great today too.
Thanks for asking.
And we'd like to thank
you all for tuning in.
Today on The Voice of Yoga, we will talk
about Divine Mind as the only
intelligence running a Perfect universe.

(01:05):
Listen as we discuss the various
misconceptions concerning the term mind,
such as mortal mind, human mind, brain,
and world mind, as imposters for the One
Infinite Mind everywhere always.
In this episode, we will examine Mary
Baker Eddy's statement in Science and
Health with Key to the
Scriptures, page 14, lines 12 to 17.

(01:29):
I'll read it.
"Become conscious for a single moment that
Life and intelligence are purely
Spiritual, neither in nor of matter, and
the body will then utter no complaints.
If suffering from belief and sickness,
you will find yourself suddenly well."
End of the quote.
Welcome to The Voice of Yoga.
We are talking consciousness.

(01:51):
Join the Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance to
get the Light in your soul, and let
Divine Mind do Its
Knowing in your awareness.
Swami, the title of today's show is "Mind:
the Architect of the Universe."
Well, let's get started.
What is mind?
Mind is another one of those
all-encompassing words that can mean many

(02:14):
things to different people.
I looked to see what AI had
to say, and here's what I got.
"Refers to the human faculty of thought,
feeling, and consciousness, encompassing
cognitive processes like memory,
perception, and judgment.

(02:35):
It can also refer to a person's state of
being, opinion, or attention, and is
closely associated with the brain, though
distinct from it as the organ that
produces mental phenomena."
That's the end of the quote.
I also like what Mrs.

(02:57):
Eddy in her book "Science and Health with
Key to the Scripture," she refers to Mind
as another word for God, which opens the
concept up beyond corporeal sense.
Today we'll look at the title from a
physical or literal level, a mental or

(03:19):
astral level, and even an astrological
level, and then include the Spiritual
level of understanding.
In "Revelations," the instruction is
given, "to the angel of the church, write."
I'd like to unbox the statement by

(03:40):
opening the terms
"church" as "Lord's House,"
and not a building in Asia Minor, and
equate it with the term "chakra" in Kriya
Yoga, which is the energy converter in
the astral-mental body.
Write can be recording on paper the

(04:03):
Divine message, but Spiritually speaking,
writing is the joining of Truth with
Spirit, which brings Light or Revelation
or Divine inspiration.
What we're learning to do here is link
the form to the mind, and let the Mind,

(04:25):
Divine Mind, build the
house or consciousness.
Swami, I'm just curious about Mary Baker Eddy
when she uses the word "Mind."
I know she has other words for God, too.
I'm not quite sure if I
really agree with that.
I think the word "God" should be maybe
the only word to describe God or talk

(04:46):
about God, where God is
all and everything is God.
Why do we need to have these other words
to take place of the supreme word of God?
Well, primarily
because God is the Absolute.
God is indescribable.

(05:06):
And the mind we use to get us through
this lifetime, the mortal mind, doesn't
at once grasp this higher meaning.
So we have to educate thought up to
Spiritual apprehension.
This was the reason for what are called
symbolic languages, things like alchemy,

(05:29):
astrology, the parables in religion, the
symbolism of fairy tale.
We're trying to understand
the Absolute in rational terms.
And so it's very important to be able to
educate your thought up to this.
I also like the fact Mary
Baker Eddy uses seven words.

(05:51):
It's an important thing
to start to understand.
White light, when it goes through the
prism, breaks off into seven colors.
And so basically what we're trying to do
now is reverse engineer
thought and bring it back to the One.
So we start with the many and then we

(06:13):
bring it back into the One.
What we're looking for though is this
coincidence between
the human and the Divine.
All the good, beautiful and true
attributes belong to
the Divine Principle.
When you're using the mortal mind and
you're getting your information through

(06:33):
your corporeal senses, as Mary Baker Eddy
also said, "sometimes
beautiful, always erroneous."
The information that comes through the
mortal mind is never the Truth.
Once you understand how to build a mental
landscape that will support the Divine

(06:54):
Principle, you can tell the truth about
the lie and then tell the truth about the
Truth without becoming a contradiction.
And at the same time, you have to
understand that it's going to be a very
different experience if you're
interpreting these terms with the mortal
mind or you are letting Divine Mind do

(07:18):
Its Knowing in your awareness.
The sin is when we are mistaking the
impermanent for the permanent, the false
for the real, the finger for the moon.
And at the same time, it's very important
that the outer and the inner be as One.
So we're always looking for that

(07:38):
coincidence between the mortal concept
and the Divine Idea.
And the constant is the Divine Idea.
Spirit is running a Perfect universe.
So which brings me to another curiosity
about the title of today's show, "Mind,

(07:59):
the Architect of the Universe."
And now we know that "Mind" with this
capital "M" means God.
When I look at the word universe, I think
of God's universe, being everywhere in
everything, filling all space, not just
the mortal universe.
So what are your insights on that?

(08:20):
Well, yeah, I like that term universe.
In Kriya Yoga we use the Bhagavad Gita,
which is the song of God.
Mind is the architect of the universe.
It can be another way of saying the
universe is a mental image.
When you break this down, if it's visible
and tangible, persons, places, things,

(08:43):
planets, stars, they're
all visible and tangible.
That is the reflection, the mortal mind
concept about Mind as the
architect of the universe.
The Spiritual universe, the invisible,
intangible Divine Omnipresence.

(09:04):
Everything is going to come down to what
mode of thinking am I looking through?
One of the three modes of mortal thought
or the operation of Divine Mind.
And everything will play out because
consciousness is experience.

(09:24):
So if we're not getting the coincidence
between the human and the Divine, we can
make these shifts in our awareness.
Change what mode of
thinking am I operating from?
Provided we have developed the faculty
that enables us to

(09:44):
connect to the Divine Creation.
Otherwise we're left to the limitations
of the mortal perspective.
So to graduate from thinking to Knowing,
first we divide and conquer by separating
the mental-material from the Spiritual.

(10:04):
Then telling the truth about the lie, the
mental material universe, and then tell
the truth about the Truth, the invisible,
intangible Divine Creation.
Swami, earlier you had
mentioned there are types of mind.
Now would be a good
time to talk about that.

(10:26):
Yeah, the concept of four types of mind
is found in both Spiritual and
psychological traditions.
But the categories differ.
In some Yoga philosophies, the four parts
are Manas (the thinking mind), Boodhi (the
intellect), Chitta (the
memory bank), and Ankara (the ego).

(10:49):
In a more medical sense, the four minds
include the reptilian brain (body-mind),
limbic mind (emotional mind), neocortex
(rational mind), and soul mind.
It can also expand into the

(11:09):
four elements found in astrology.
Fire, earth, air, water, which can be
interpreted as intuition, perception,
reason, memory, or feeling.
For example, using geocentric astrology
is a wonderful way to see the logic,

(11:30):
order, and predictability of Divine Mind
running a Perfect universe.
Spiritual astrology serves as a powerful
tool for cultivating a deeper
understanding of the Infinite.
By engaging with what the material senses
reveal, it helps uncover

(11:52):
what resides in consciousness.
Swami, how do we put together the knowledge
of these four types
of mind into practice?
Yeah, one of the things helpful with the
Yoga physiology and psychology is they
use a three-body system.
You have a physical body, an

(12:12):
astral-mental body, and
a causal Spiritual body.
These can be explained as
levels of consciousness.
Say, for example, when consciousness is
in your physical body, that would be
visible and tangible things.
When consciousness leaves, the physical
body moves into the astral-mental body,

(12:34):
things invisible but tangible.
Thoughts.
The other thing that you can start to tie
in is this idea of consciousness.
And then let's unbox the mind.
To think the mind equals
brain is a misconception.
And I really like the work of Rupert

(12:56):
Sheldrake, who
explained this using vision.
He said, "You see me as an
image where I am in your mind.
You don't see me as
an image in your brain."
In Yoga physiology, it's
not the mind is in the body.

(13:17):
The body is in the mind.
And the mind goes as far
as the natural eye can see.
This is where we start to include the
astrology into it, because we can see the
planets up to Saturn with the naked eye.
This is why the astral body in Yoga is

(13:39):
symbolized, and it's also symbolized in
Revelations by the man, the bull, the
lion, and the eagle.
The image created when you put the fixed
signs on the angles, and
the zodiac lines up in a way.
The planets, the associated with the
chakras represented in the physical body,
are now represented in this astral body,

(14:02):
the body of Christ, capable of receiving
Divine Revelation as a mental image.
And the astral body is in
the causal Spiritual body.
Now we have an image we
could start to work with.
You've got a physical level, astral
mental level, and causal Spiritual level.

(14:25):
You can also represent
this by your awareness.
As your awareness transcends the limits
of the outer visible planet of Saturn,
you're gaining the Spiritual perspective,
the Divine Self, Infinity, which is
formless, incorporeal, Eternal,

(14:48):
Changeless, Whole, Perfect.
We're going to pause right
here to hear a word from our sponsor.
Listeners, we'll be back
with you in just a few moments.
Kriya Yoga Theory 2 is a unique and
revolutionary practice and forum designed
to facilitate the growth
process in human development.
Apotheosis is a real experience and has

(15:10):
an evidence procedure.
You cannot lead someone to permanent
change by doing for them
what they must do themselves.
Personal accountability and
responsibility are the foundation of
Kriya Yoga Theory 2.
You must be engaged and devoted.

fear, wisdom to overcome ignorance,
purpose to overcome selfishness,
enthusiasm to overcome laziness.
Kriya Yoga is a path of action,

Welcome back.
For those of you who are just joining us,
you're listening to The Voice of Yoga and

(16:17):
we are talking consciousness.
Swami, let's continue the discussion about
Spiritual Astrology using it as this
powerful tool for cultivating this deeper
understanding of the Infinite.
Like we said, by engaging with what the
material senses reveal, it helps uncover

(16:37):
what resides in consciousness.
Using the astrology as a symbolic
language, what surrounds us is within us
to understand the mind as a mirror.
What's seemingly moving further outward
into space is really moving
inward into consciousness.

(17:00):
This is very important with regard to
cultivating the faculty that enables us
to think differently, to
perceive the Divine Creation.
There's a turning where we're no longer
accepting the information coming through
the corporeal senses
as the end-all be-all.

(17:20):
And we have an awareness for the
invisible, intangible, Perfection of
Being functioning everywhere always.
So here, Earth can
represent matter and form.
What is visible and tangible?
The seven personal planets and the twelve
signs of the zodiac can

(17:41):
represent mortal mind.
What is invisible but tangible?
Beyond Saturn can be assigned to Spirit.
What is invisible and intangible?
Here we'll use the astrology to support
the Divine Principle of Perfection.
The beauty of astrology is it reveals the

(18:03):
logic, order, and
predictability of the universe.
We know where the planets are, where
they're going to be ten years from now,
two hundred years from now.
This is a visible and tangible diagram.
The fixed signs are the closest tangible

(18:24):
image we have to the Changeless state of
Being, which is the nature
of the Spiritual Creation.
Swami I know we've talked before about the
three modes of mortal mind.
So what is the difference between the
three modes of mortal mind and the four
minds we talked about earlier?

(18:44):
Are they one and the same or are they the
three modes in each of
those minds that you mentioned?
Yeah, that's all semantics.
However you want to frame this to
understand it with your mortal mind, with
the mind that can't perceive the Truth.
For us, it's much easier to work with the

(19:04):
idea of three modes of mortal mind and
the operations of Divine Mind, which
would break it down into
four modes of thinking.
What we have done is created a diagram
using Yoga physiology.
In Yoga there are three
bodies and there are five sheaths.

(19:24):
The sheaths are kind of the connective
tissue used in the symbolism here.
You can create an image with five lines
that would represent three bodies and
give an understanding of the operation of
the difference between the
unified state and duality.

(19:46):
Using three concentric circles within
each other, starting with a small one, a
middle size one, and then a larger one.
Then run two intersecting lines through
the two inner circles.
And that would be the representation for
what we'll call the mind-body complex.

(20:09):
Here you could have the
innermost circle as the physical.
The next one out is the astral mental.
You could divide it into four parts and
that would give you your physical
functions and your mental functions.
The physical functions are strength,

(20:29):
flexibility, balance, and endurance.
The mental functions are perception,
reason, memory, intuition.
This is how we would represent duality.
Duality is the false sense of self.
The sheaths in Yoga are described as
"anamaya kosha" which is the food sheath.

(20:52):
That would be for that first circle.
The next circle out would be "pranamaya
kosha" which would be the energy sheath.
The two intersecting lines, one of them
would be "manamaya kosha" which is the
mental sheath, and the other would be
"vijnanamaya kosha" which

(21:14):
would be the intuitive sheath.
The outermost circle is what
is called "anandamaya kosha".
It is the bliss sheath.
It is what represents Spirit.
Once you start to build this mental
landscape, start to visualize and then

(21:36):
make shifts in consciousness.
The application of
this is like having a map.
It's very easy to follow directions if
you understand how to read a map.
If you were going to drive to Detroit, a
map would be very helpful, provided you
were reading the map and associating the

(21:58):
roads leading to your destination.
Well, the man, the bull, the lion, and
the eagle is a very similar thing.
Here we're trying to learn how to link
the form to the mind.
The form being the physical body.
We know it's a mental image, but we also

(22:19):
know the more Divinely mental, the more
harmonious and
indestructible it will appear.
Swami, so regarding the five sheaths, is it one of
those situations where we can only be in
one sheath at a time until we get to the
fifth sheath when you talked about bliss
and that encompasses all of them?
How does that work for us?

(22:42):
Yeah, what you learn is it's a process
and associated with your
level of consciousness.
Now, these modes of mortal thinking that
we're talking about, the mortal mind at a
physical level can only
do one thing at a time.
It's very limited.
If you're seeing, you're not hearing.

(23:03):
And if you're hearing, you're not seeing.
As the mind begins to open, what we would
call the meditative state, you can now
access a part of the mind that can do
many things at once, like the part of
your mind that's controlling your heart
rate, your blood
pressure, your body temperature.

(23:23):
But the operations of Divine Mind, Divine
Mind is not in time or space.
For Divine Mind, 200 years ago is now,
500 years from now is
now, the Eternal now.
Mind is doing everything at once.

(23:47):
And the mortal mind
cannot comprehend that.
So we have to learn how to master the
operations of the mortal mind, learn how
to control how we think, eventually stop
thinking and make our mind an avenue of
awareness for the
operations of Divine Mind.

(24:10):
And when Divine Mind is doing
Its Knowing in your awareness,
then you outpicture the Divine Creation.
This was the dynamics of the miracle.
Jesus didn't come to
fix up God's handiwork.

(24:31):
He came here to reveal the Divinity of
humanity, that we're in the wrong self.
And so we have to learn how to initiate
this developmental process, basically.
So learning, learning this
developmental process, where do we begin?

(24:55):
Well, I started with creating the diagram
to help understand the three bodies, the
five sheets, inverted into One Spirit.
The small and the simple help explain the
large and the complex.
For example, the workings of the atom
resemble the workings

(25:16):
of the solar system.
What surrounds us is
within us and as above so below.
Consciousness is experience, which
enables us to use the testimony of the
corporeal senses to
determine what we are conscious of.

(25:39):
Linking the form to the mind is
experienced when the physical body is
resolved into a mental image,
capable of receiving Divine Revelation.
It's like linking the device to the app,
understanding the astral body by using

(26:01):
the man, the bull, the lion and the eagle
to rise into the seven personal planets.
The twelve signs of the Zodiac.
As the One Body, the body of Christ.
We connect the dots by knowing the
affiliation between the nerve plexus and

(26:23):
the endocrine glands and the chakras or
churches or planets and even the seven
words for God by Mary Baker Eddy.
You can also look at the Transfiguration
in the Bible as instruction
to link the form to the mind.

(26:44):
Let's review that Mary Baker Eddy
statement that I had said in the summary
from Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, page 14, lines 12-17.
I'll read it again.
Become conscious for a single moment that
Life and intelligence are purely
Spiritual, neither in nor of matter, and
the body will then utter no complaints.

(27:06):
If suffering from belief and sickness,
you will find yourself suddenly well.
End of the quote.
Swami, what do you want us to learn from
this regarding today's podcast?
Well, basically,
consciousness is experience.
What we have to understand is thinking
about is not the same

(27:27):
as being conscious of.
In fact, thinking is
very different than Knowing.
Jesus says in the Bible, "Know the Truth
and it will make you free."
He doesn't say, "Think the Truth, believe
the Truth, say the
Truth, know the Truth."

(27:50):
There's a difference between thinking
with five corporeal senses, which
operates in duality, which is basically a
false sense of existence.
It's a reflection.
Just like when you look at yourself in a
mirror across the room, you know there's

(28:10):
no Life, Truth, intelligence, or
substance in that reflection.
Well, this world, the mental-material
concept, is the same.
We have to give
ourselves this half a turn.
Now, however you're going to do that, you
need to have what's

(28:30):
called the Mind of Christ.
Christ is the Messiah,
the saving aspect of Truth.
It's the interface that enables us to
perceive the Divine Creation.
In the light of Divine
Truth, there is no error.
There's no sickness, suffering, disease,

(28:53):
lack, or limitation.
God made none of these things.
This is all part of this illusion,
this concept of life driven
by a belief in two powers.
There's only One Life, and It's Perfect,

(29:13):
Whole, and complete.
