Today on the Voice of Yoga, we will talk
about the statement found often in the
teaching of Christian Science, "One with

Swami, the title of today's show is
"Safety Found Outside Numbers."
What is it that you'd like
to tell us about this title?
(01:44):
Yeah.
as I advance in the resurrection
of Spiritual sense, the term "safe"
becomes less and less relevant because as
identity shifts from a mental-material
basis, terms change meaning.
To corporeal sense, safety is important,
(02:07):
but to Spirit, danger, destruction,
accidents are unknown, so there isn't
anything to worry about.
As Bob Dylan is sang, "When you have
nothing, you have nothing to lose."
Truth in consciousness reveals the
nothingness of everything appearing in
(02:28):
the five corporeal senses.
So we learn, belief in Divine Truth
dissolves the false sense of self.
By proving the nothingness of everything
unlike Spirit, which is Perfect Life,
without a vulnerable sense of self, there
(02:51):
isn't any fear of danger because there's
no death in Truth along with all things
leading to destruction.
Life is Eternal.
And so now, rather than trying to defend
ourselves and getting all kinds of
external reinforcement to find this
(03:13):
security and safety, we find if we
develop a relationship with the
invisible, intangible, Divine
Omnipresence, accepting and living in the
knowledge of this Infinite Divine Self
will actually take care of what seems to
(03:35):
be a finite mortal sense of self.
So you're saying we have to get out of
this knowing of safety in numbers, which
is I think very mortal what you're
talking about to the safety of the One.
So how would we go about to do that?
Well, I like to follow
the direction in the Bible.
(03:56):
Sow to the flesh's death while sowing to
the Spirit is Eternal Life.
We have to change our value system.
Like I keep saying, this is a process
that begins with re-birthing your
physical body in Spirit.
It's not just a declaration.
(04:18):
This change has to go deep enough.
So you have this element of purity; so you
can think, feel, say, and
do one and the same thing.
Without having the depth of understanding
of the Omnipresence of
the Divine Principle,
(04:38):
it's very difficult for your belief in
Divine Truth to graduate to faith where
your belief now starts to demonstrate.
It all comes down to how we think is what
we become and what we
desire, like attracts like.
(04:59):
So if we don't have a plan, like we say
in the opening, we're exploring
methodology for graduating from thinking
with five corporeal senses to Knowing
with seven Spiritual senses.
This isn't an accident and it isn't
something we just hope
(05:20):
is going to happen to us.
There are things we can and we must do to
induce this God experience.
What would you suggest that we start to
be able to do just that?
Well, like we were saying, sow to the
flesh's death while sowing
to the Spirit is Eternal Life.
(05:41):
In order to live under the protection of
Divine Law, we must know we are Spirit.
In this case, knowledge is power, not a
force to overcome opposition, but the
power of One Being, One Perfect Divine
(06:01):
Life looking at Itself, as Itself, of
Itself, and to Itself.
One Life without opposite, Perfect
harmony, Absolute Goodness.
Ask yourself, is this really what I want?
The end of the cosmic movie, no more
(06:23):
drama, suffering, triumph, challenge, all
the things we find to love, hate, and
fear about the mortal sense of existence,
because we can't have both.
To be Spiritual, we must be willing to
give up all for Christ.
This hasn't changed, but it's becoming
(06:46):
clearer and clearer
exactly what it means.
One is the loneliest number.
I remember the Three Dog Night song and
think about the Spiritual fact of seeing
why we must be sensitive enough to hear
the call and strong enough to walk the
(07:08):
solitary path, because there's only I,
One Life, everywhere
always, and changeless.
Swami, some people might be saying,
"That sounds like life
could be boring that way.
I think we're just so caught
up into this mortal existence.
(07:29):
We don't understand this is all just a
distraction for us."
Yeah, I definitely think we do not have a
clear understanding of
what it means to be Spiritual.
We've been inundated with
pseudo-celebrity Spiritualism, where we
think God is a power and it's going to
(07:50):
help us with this human experience, and
God is watching over us, protecting us
from all of the problems
and dangers of the universe.
But that's not how this works.
The mental-material concept, this
illusion, is a hypnotic state.
(08:11):
We believe we're separate entities.
We are vulnerable.
We believe in two powers, good and evil.
Once you grasp the
idea, this is just a belief.
It's not a something.
It's not backed by the
Divine Law of Eternal Life.
(08:34):
It's a concept about what's really here.
In order for us to Know this Truth,
however, we have to be willing to give up
the false sense of existence.
We try and do this from what Gilbert
Carpenter called the milk of Christian
Science, this idea that we are a finite
(08:57):
mortal being and God is here to help us
with this experience.
This may give you the promise of being
Spiritual, but to demonstrate Divine Law
with Scientific certainty,
we have to Know the Truth.
There is no mortal sense of existence.
(09:20):
The only thing that's
real is the Divine Creation.
And It's Perfect.
And of course, to mortal
sense, this might seem boring.
But to Know the
Truth, you can't have both.
And so we have to be strong enough to
(09:40):
walk a solitary path to be
able to handle the Truth.
I think of the Jack Nicholson line in A
Few Good Men, "You
can't handle the Truth."
And this is exactly what it will come
down to for most of us.
We're not willing to give up the false
(10:01):
sense of self for Christ.
And as a result, we will die in our sin.
Now it's not a matter of conduct.
It's really about connection.
While we are in form, while we have a
physical body, we have the opportunity, we
(10:22):
can serve the Divine Principle.
This doesn't mean as a human, I could do
things to persons, places, and things.
I think God wants me to
do, to be a good human.
It doesn't mean that.
It means you become the channel through
(10:43):
which the Divine creative Principle,
which is running a Perfect universe, can
now reveal its operations through you.
So it's kind of like when you serve
Spirit, it would be like a restaurant
that serves vegan entrees.
(11:05):
It would mean they would have to have
vegan ingredients they could put
together, make the
meals, and present them.
In a very similar way for us to serve
Spirit, we have to know ourselves in the
way we are known, which is Spirit.
And being Spiritual is not anything like
(11:29):
being a finite mortal being.
So we have to graduate.
This requires the process.
First we have to resolve the physical
form into a mental image which will be
capable of receiving Divine Revelation.
As Mary Baker Eddy said, we have to
(11:50):
develop the faculty to perceive the
Divine Revelation and we have to be
taught not only how to
learn, but what to learn.
So it's very specific.
Swami, let's talk about what
is it we should be learning.
(12:10):
First order of business is understand
what it means to be born of Spirit.
What does it look like when matter and
mind come together with the invisible,
intangible, Divine Omnipresence?
Then going through these points of
passage and having rites of passage.
(12:30):
When I overcome animal magnetism, when I
come out of the belief in mortality,
develop human intelligence.
And then finally when I overcome world
thought functioning as corporeal sense.
There are stages in development we have
(12:53):
to enlist before we can walk reason
through this open door of Revelation.
So like I said, learning how to resolve a
physical body into a mental image capable
of receiving Divine Revelation, then let
Divine Mind do Its Knowing in your
(13:16):
awareness so that it can exchange the
objects of sense for the Divine Idea.
So you become this place where the Divine
Principle is
functioning through you as you.
Swami. how would we know, what does it look
like when we are this Spiritual Being
(13:40):
that you're talking about?
Well of course this is
the message of the Christ.
Heal the sick, reform
sin or raise the dead.
You are the Christ because you would be
demonstrating Divine Law
with Scientific certainty.
You would be walking through this world,
(14:02):
through the mental-material world of
energy, unaffected by the problems and
the troubles we all experience when we're
looking through this glass darkly.
Looking at life through the mortal mind
which sees what isn't here and is blind
(14:22):
to what is here which
is the Divine Creation.
So you would walk in the
Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
Know, you are Christ not in the world while
appearing as form in the world.
The peace, my peace, the peace that
(14:44):
passes understanding while
you were in the physical form.

For those who are just joining us, you're

talking consciousness.
Swami, I do have a curiosity about a Bible
verse in Matthew 18:19-20
and I'll read it.
"Again, I say unto you, That if two of you
shall agree on earth as touching anything
that they shall ask, it shall be done for
them of my Father which is in heaven.
(16:09):
For where two or three are gathered
together in my name, there
am I in the midst of them."
End of the verses.
Swami, your thoughts on this.
Yeah, I like what Mary Baker Eddy said,
"Jesus was the greatest
Scientist who ever walked the planet."
And he's talking about if two of you
(16:32):
shall agree on earth as touching anything
that they shall ask, it shall be done for
them of my Father which is in heaven.
What he's talking about here is when we
try and do things with human will and
personal sense, thought is an energy
(16:53):
capable of producing effects.
And thoughts are
measured in phase and amplitude.
Now when thoughts are in phase, so when
there's more than one, it increases the
amplitude of the thought.
So what we learn is we can do things with
(17:14):
thought and belief and we can change
finite bad to finite good
and it seems like a miracle.
But what he's also saying is for where
there are two or three are gathered
together in my name, there
am I in the midst of them.
In my name means in my likeness.
(17:37):
This idea of assuming Spiritual identity,
One with the Divine Principle will trump
this mental-material concept.
Spiritual Law is
greater than material law.
The power of One is the only
Self-Existent power in the universe.
(18:00):
Mental-material appearances rely on
belief for their appearance of power.
Yeah, we can do things with human will
and personal sense and they can be done
for good or for bad because that's the
level of consciousness we exist at.
(18:21):
But if we can rise in consciousness into
the understanding of One Perfect Divine
Life, there is no longer any struggle
because there's no
opposition in Spiritual Truth.
Mortal sense is looking for numbers and
it's looking for power.
(18:42):
So we are trying to build rockets and
missiles and we're trying to increase our
armies in order to defend ourselves.
But Spiritual sense rests in the
knowledge of Divine Truth.
This is why Mary Baker Eddy could say
with authority, one with God is the
(19:04):
majority because the power of One is
greater than the sum power of the many.
But of course, we have to be conscious of
the Divine Omnipresence in order to
activate it in our experience.
And you can't do it as
(19:26):
a finite mortal being.
So we have to know that we are Spirit.
Understand ourselves to be
Spiritual, Perfect, Whole, Complete.
And like she also says, by this she
doesn't mean mortals
are the Divine children.
(19:48):
Swami, you've been saying for years
how we think is what we become.
Can we do a deeper
dive with that statement?
Yeah, I guess the key question is, do we
know there are three modes of mortal
thought, which must be mastered; before
access to the operations
of Divine Mind is possible.
(20:10):
Listen to what Mrs.
Eddy wrote in
Miscellaneous Writing, page 355:1-11.
And I'll read it.
"The present stage of progress in
Christian Science
presents two opposite aspects,--
a full-orbed promise, and a gaunt want.
(20:32):
The need, however, is not of
the letter, but the spirit.
Less teaching and good healing is to-day
the acme of "well done,"
a healing that is not guesswork,--
chronic recovery, ebbing and
flowing,-- but instantaneous cure.
(20:53):
This absolute demonstration
of Science must be revived.
To consummate this desideratum, mortal
mind must pass through
three stages of growth." End of quote.
This is what we've been
talking about for quite some time.
(21:14):
And these stages of growth, the way that
we map it out is we use
the zodiac as our template.
We use the man, the bull, the lion and
the eagle for this image that will give
us a mental image for resolving the
(21:34):
physical body into a mental image capable
of receiving Divine Revelation.
To understand there's but One body.
If you start to use the zodiac, it gives
you a hub, a template, a schematic that
you can keep your
information very well organized.
(21:57):
And at the same time, you can go out at
night and gaze at the stars and expand
your awareness so that
it's not just in your head.
But this process in development where we
graduate from thinking with five
corporeal senses to Knowing with seven
(22:18):
Spiritual senses; can be found in the
mutable signs of the zodiac.
Gemini is the lower mind.
It is animal magnetism, instinct,
appetite, preservation and survival.
When you initiate your developmental
process and you're born of Spirit, you
(22:40):
can overcome the fear
that comes with the body.
But then just like in the hero's journey,
there's the separation,
the journey and the return.
Always these phases in development, the
crucifixion of the body, the resurrection
of the son, the reunion with the father.
(23:00):
It's been symbolized in various ways, but
the bottom line is, is it's instruction
to do something that we have to do, which
is separate from the pattern of the body,
develop human intelligence, your mental
functions, and then eventually cast out
(23:22):
Judas, which is the son of perdition,
mortal mind functioning as corporeal
sense in human consciousness.
Once we have done this, then we've
graduated from Gemini to Virgo to
Sagittarius, which then leaves us to
(23:44):
graduate to Pisces, the operation of
Divine Mind, the only
Truth in the entire universe.
So Swami, if we want to end this cosmic
movie of all the things we love, hate and
fear, I think we should have a better
understanding of what
fear really does mean.
(24:05):
Can you tell us more about that?
Well, fear is the defense mechanism for
the false sense of life.
Stand in fear and we stand to lose, which
is another way of saying
sow to the flesh is death.
In Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, Preface, Mary Baker Eddy
(24:26):
began her textbook with these words, and
I'll read it, "To those leaning on the
sustaining infinite,
today is big with blessing." End of quote.
And then she continues at lines 13 and
21, and I'll read them, "The time for
(24:47):
thinkers has come, Truth, independent of
doctrines and time-honored systems,
knocks at the portal of humanity.
Contentment with the past and the cold
conventionality of
materialism are crumbling away.
Ignorance of God is no longer the
(25:08):
stepping stone to faith.
The only guarantee of obedience is a
right apprehension of Him, whom to know a
right is Life Eternal.
Though empires fall, the
Lord shall reign forever." End of quote.
She really calls us out, this idea of
(25:30):
belief, being Spiritual,
meaning anything to anybody.
Being Spiritual means you understand
Spirit, and Spirit is a
demonstrable Principle.
It's a law, and like we keep saying, but
we must be conscious of it
(25:51):
to activate it in experience.
But, thinking about it is not the same as
being conscious of it.
For me, one of the biggest downfalls to
Christian Science was
they lost Joel Goldsmith.
Joel Goldsmith introduced the concept of
(26:12):
meditation into Christian Science.
Meditation, however, has not gone very
far in Infinite Way.
But if you understand, meditation is not
just a word in a book.
It is a state of being One with the
(26:32):
Divine Principle, and that
meditation, by definition,
is the seventh stage of Yoga.
It's the eighth stage of Buddhism.
There is preparatory work, things we can
and we must do in order to induce this
(26:53):
God experience, in order to
graduate from thinking, with five
corporeal senses to Knowing
with seven Spiritual senses.
And if you are still sitting around and
you are waiting for Jesus to come back
and take you in with his demonstration,
(27:14):
you will die in your sin.
You will continue to believe you are a
finite mortal being with an expiration
date, and you are in the
cycle of death and rebirth.
Nothing intrinsically evil with that,
because like we say, it's cosmic TV.
(27:35):
But if you are one of those people who is
interested in Knowing the Truth, the
whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth,
then you might find great
benefit from these radio shows.
Swami, you talked about "sow to the flesh
is death," what does it look
(27:55):
like when we sow to the Spirit?
Yeah, this idea of "when I Love God," no
longer attached to the mental-material
false belief in a
temporary sense of life.
What the Bible calls "living in sin."
You Know the Truth.
(28:16):
You rest in the knowledge.
God is running a Perfect universe.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
There isn't anything that needs to be
added to or taken away
to the Truth of who I am.
There's only One Life here, and it's the
(28:37):
Life of God under the government of
Divine Law without any opposition.
And so, you now-- at least have a mental
landscape that will
support a Divine Principle.
"If you believe on Me, all the things I
do, you shall do even greater works."
(29:00):
This is what you can expect of yourself,
but you have to understand how it works
and what are the requirements for you to
be able to call into expression the
Perfection of Being.

I remember the Three Dog Night song and
think about the Spiritual fact of seeing
why we must be sensitive enough to hear
the call and strong enough to walk the
(07:08):
solitary path, because there's only I,
One Life, everywhere
always, and changeless.
Swami, some people might be saying,
"That sounds like life
could be boring that way.
I think we're just so caught
up into this mortal existence.
(07:29):
We don't understand this is all just a
distraction for us."
Yeah, I definitely think we do not have a
clear understanding of
what it means to be Spiritual.
We've been inundated with
pseudo-celebrity Spiritualism, where we
think God is a power and it's going to
(07:50):
help us with this human experience, and
God is watching over us, protecting us
from all of the problems
and dangers of the universe.
But that's not how this works.
The mental-material concept, this
illusion, is a hypnotic state.
(08:11):
We believe we're separate entities.
We are vulnerable.
We believe in two powers, good and evil.
Once you grasp the
idea, this is just a belief.
It's not a something.
It's not backed by the
Divine Law of Eternal Life.
(08:34):
It's a concept about what's really here.
In order for us to Know this Truth,
however, we have to be willing to give up
the false sense of existence.
We try and do this from what Gilbert
Carpenter called the milk of Christian
Science, this idea that we are a finite
(08:57):
mortal being and God is here to help us
with this experience.
This may give you the promise of being
Spiritual, but to demonstrate Divine Law
with Scientific certainty,
we have to Know the Truth.
There is no mortal sense of existence.
(09:20):
The only thing that's
real is the Divine Creation.
And It's Perfect.
And of course, to mortal
sense, this might seem boring.
But to Know the
Truth, you can't have both.
And so we have to be strong enough to
(09:40):
walk a solitary path to be
able to handle the Truth.
I think of the Jack Nicholson line in A
Few Good Men, "You
can't handle the Truth."
And this is exactly what it will come
down to for most of us.
We're not willing to give up the false
(10:01):
sense of self for Christ.
And as a result, we will die in our sin.
Now it's not a matter of conduct.
It's really about connection.
While we are in form, while we have a
physical body, we have the opportunity, we
(10:22):
can serve the Divine Principle.
This doesn't mean as a human, I could do
things to persons, places, and things.
I think God wants me to
do, to be a good human.
It doesn't mean that.
It means you become the channel through
(10:43):
which the Divine creative Principle,
which is running a Perfect universe, can
now reveal its operations through you.
So it's kind of like when you serve
Spirit, it would be like a restaurant
that serves vegan entrees.
(11:05):
It would mean they would have to have
vegan ingredients they could put
together, make the
meals, and present them.
In a very similar way for us to serve
Spirit, we have to know ourselves in the
way we are known, which is Spirit.
And being Spiritual is not anything like
(11:29):
being a finite mortal being.
So we have to graduate.
This requires the process.
First we have to resolve the physical
form into a mental image which will be
capable of receiving Divine Revelation.
As Mary Baker Eddy said, we have to
(11:50):
develop the faculty to perceive the
Divine Revelation and we have to be
taught not only how to
learn, but what to learn.
So it's very specific.
Swami, let's talk about what
is it we should be learning.
(12:10):
First order of business is understand
what it means to be born of Spirit.
What does it look like when matter and
mind come together with the invisible,
intangible, Divine Omnipresence?
Then going through these points of
passage and having rites of passage.
(12:30):
When I overcome animal magnetism, when I
come out of the belief in mortality,
develop human intelligence.
And then finally when I overcome world
thought functioning as corporeal sense.
There are stages in development we have
(12:53):
to enlist before we can walk reason
through this open door of Revelation.
So like I said, learning how to resolve a
physical body into a mental image capable
of receiving Divine Revelation, then let
Divine Mind do Its Knowing in your
(13:16):
awareness so that it can exchange the
objects of sense for the Divine Idea.
So you become this place where the Divine
Principle is
functioning through you as you.
Swami. how would we know, what does it look
like when we are this Spiritual Being
(13:40):
that you're talking about?
Well of course this is
the message of the Christ.
Heal the sick, reform
sin or raise the dead.
You are the Christ because you would be
demonstrating Divine Law
with Scientific certainty.
You would be walking through this world,
(14:02):
through the mental-material world of
energy, unaffected by the problems and
the troubles we all experience when we're
looking through this glass darkly.
Looking at life through the mortal mind
which sees what isn't here and is blind
(14:22):
to what is here which
is the Divine Creation.
So you would walk in the
Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
Know, you are Christ not in the world while
appearing as form in the world.
The peace, my peace, the peace that
(14:44):
passes understanding while
you were in the physical form.

talking consciousness.
Swami, I do have a curiosity about a Bible
verse in Matthew 18:19-20
and I'll read it.
"Again, I say unto you, That if two of you
shall agree on earth as touching anything
that they shall ask, it shall be done for
them of my Father which is in heaven.
(16:09):
For where two or three are gathered
together in my name, there
am I in the midst of them."
End of the verses.
Swami, your thoughts on this.
Yeah, I like what Mary Baker Eddy said,
"Jesus was the greatest
Scientist who ever walked the planet."
And he's talking about if two of you
(16:32):
shall agree on earth as touching anything
that they shall ask, it shall be done for
them of my Father which is in heaven.
What he's talking about here is when we
try and do things with human will and
personal sense, thought is an energy
(16:53):
capable of producing effects.
And thoughts are
measured in phase and amplitude.
Now when thoughts are in phase, so when
there's more than one, it increases the
amplitude of the thought.
So what we learn is we can do things with
(17:14):
thought and belief and we can change
finite bad to finite good
and it seems like a miracle.
But what he's also saying is for where
there are two or three are gathered
together in my name, there
am I in the midst of them.
In my name means in my likeness.
(17:37):
This idea of assuming Spiritual identity,
One with the Divine Principle will trump
this mental-material concept.
Spiritual Law is
greater than material law.
The power of One is the only
Self-Existent power in the universe.
(18:00):
Mental-material appearances rely on
belief for their appearance of power.
Yeah, we can do things with human will
and personal sense and they can be done
for good or for bad because that's the
level of consciousness we exist at.
(18:21):
But if we can rise in consciousness into
the understanding of One Perfect Divine
Life, there is no longer any struggle
because there's no
opposition in Spiritual Truth.
Mortal sense is looking for numbers and
it's looking for power.
(18:42):
So we are trying to build rockets and
missiles and we're trying to increase our
armies in order to defend ourselves.
But Spiritual sense rests in the
knowledge of Divine Truth.
This is why Mary Baker Eddy could say
with authority, one with God is the
(19:04):
majority because the power of One is
greater than the sum power of the many.
But of course, we have to be conscious of
the Divine Omnipresence in order to
activate it in our experience.
And you can't do it as
(19:26):
a finite mortal being.
So we have to know that we are Spirit.
Understand ourselves to be
Spiritual, Perfect, Whole, Complete.
And like she also says, by this she
doesn't mean mortals
are the Divine children.
(19:48):
Swami, you've been saying for years
how we think is what we become.
Can we do a deeper
dive with that statement?
Yeah, I guess the key question is, do we
know there are three modes of mortal
thought, which must be mastered; before
access to the operations
of Divine Mind is possible.
(20:10):
Listen to what Mrs.
Eddy wrote in
Miscellaneous Writing, page 355:1-11.
And I'll read it.
"The present stage of progress in
Christian Science
presents two opposite aspects,--
a full-orbed promise, and a gaunt want.
(20:32):
The need, however, is not of
the letter, but the spirit.
Less teaching and good healing is to-day
the acme of "well done,"
a healing that is not guesswork,--
chronic recovery, ebbing and
flowing,-- but instantaneous cure.
(20:53):
This absolute demonstration
of Science must be revived.
To consummate this desideratum, mortal
mind must pass through
three stages of growth." End of quote.
This is what we've been
talking about for quite some time.
(21:14):
And these stages of growth, the way that
we map it out is we use
the zodiac as our template.
We use the man, the bull, the lion and
the eagle for this image that will give
us a mental image for resolving the
(21:34):
physical body into a mental image capable
of receiving Divine Revelation.
To understand there's but One body.
If you start to use the zodiac, it gives
you a hub, a template, a schematic that
you can keep your
information very well organized.
(21:57):
And at the same time, you can go out at
night and gaze at the stars and expand
your awareness so that
it's not just in your head.
But this process in development where we
graduate from thinking with five
corporeal senses to Knowing with seven
(22:18):
Spiritual senses; can be found in the
mutable signs of the zodiac.
Gemini is the lower mind.
It is animal magnetism, instinct,
appetite, preservation and survival.
When you initiate your developmental
process and you're born of Spirit, you
(22:40):
can overcome the fear
that comes with the body.
But then just like in the hero's journey,
there's the separation,
the journey and the return.
Always these phases in development, the
crucifixion of the body, the resurrection
of the son, the reunion with the father.
(23:00):
It's been symbolized in various ways, but
the bottom line is, is it's instruction
to do something that we have to do, which
is separate from the pattern of the body,
develop human intelligence, your mental
functions, and then eventually cast out
(23:22):
Judas, which is the son of perdition,
mortal mind functioning as corporeal
sense in human consciousness.
Once we have done this, then we've
graduated from Gemini to Virgo to
Sagittarius, which then leaves us to
(23:44):
graduate to Pisces, the operation of
Divine Mind, the only
Truth in the entire universe.
So Swami, if we want to end this cosmic
movie of all the things we love, hate and
fear, I think we should have a better
understanding of what
fear really does mean.
(24:05):
Can you tell us more about that?
Well, fear is the defense mechanism for
the false sense of life.
Stand in fear and we stand to lose, which
is another way of saying
sow to the flesh is death.
In Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, Preface, Mary Baker Eddy
(24:26):
began her textbook with these words, and
I'll read it, "To those leaning on the
sustaining infinite,
today is big with blessing." End of quote.
And then she continues at lines 13 and
21, and I'll read them, "The time for
(24:47):
thinkers has come, Truth, independent of
doctrines and time-honored systems,
knocks at the portal of humanity.
Contentment with the past and the cold
conventionality of
materialism are crumbling away.
Ignorance of God is no longer the
(25:08):
stepping stone to faith.
The only guarantee of obedience is a
right apprehension of Him, whom to know a
right is Life Eternal.
Though empires fall, the
Lord shall reign forever." End of quote.
She really calls us out, this idea of
(25:30):
belief, being Spiritual,
meaning anything to anybody.
Being Spiritual means you understand
Spirit, and Spirit is a
demonstrable Principle.
It's a law, and like we keep saying, but
we must be conscious of it
(25:51):
to activate it in experience.
But, thinking about it is not the same as
being conscious of it.
For me, one of the biggest downfalls to
Christian Science was
they lost Joel Goldsmith.
Joel Goldsmith introduced the concept of
(26:12):
meditation into Christian Science.
Meditation, however, has not gone very
far in Infinite Way.
But if you understand, meditation is not
just a word in a book.
It is a state of being One with the
(26:32):
Divine Principle, and that
meditation, by definition,
is the seventh stage of Yoga.
It's the eighth stage of Buddhism.
There is preparatory work, things we can
and we must do in order to induce this
(26:53):
God experience, in order to
graduate from thinking, with five
corporeal senses to Knowing
with seven Spiritual senses.
And if you are still sitting around and
you are waiting for Jesus to come back
and take you in with his demonstration,
(27:14):
you will die in your sin.
You will continue to believe you are a
finite mortal being with an expiration
date, and you are in the
cycle of death and rebirth.
Nothing intrinsically evil with that,
because like we say, it's cosmic TV.
(27:35):
But if you are one of those people who is
interested in Knowing the Truth, the
whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth,
then you might find great
benefit from these radio shows.
Swami, you talked about "sow to the flesh
is death," what does it look
(27:55):
like when we sow to the Spirit?
Yeah, this idea of "when I Love God," no
longer attached to the mental-material
false belief in a
temporary sense of life.
What the Bible calls "living in sin."
You Know the Truth.
(28:16):
You rest in the knowledge.
God is running a Perfect universe.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
There isn't anything that needs to be
added to or taken away
to the Truth of who I am.
There's only One Life here, and it's the
(28:37):
Life of God under the government of
Divine Law without any opposition.
And so, you now-- at least have a mental
landscape that will
support a Divine Principle.
"If you believe on Me, all the things I
do, you shall do even greater works."
(29:00):
This is what you can expect of yourself,
but you have to understand how it works
and what are the requirements for you to
be able to call into expression the
Perfection of Being.
