Voice of Yoga
Welcome to the Institute For Personal
Development, Inc. "Kriya Yoga Ashram."
Where Total Consciousness is the
new frontier.
Kriya Yoga is union of the individual
with the Divine. Join us!
(00:23):
As we explore the practices to
this Process.
(Music) Good morning, welcome to The Voice of
Yoga. Let's talk consciousness. I am your
hostess, Lisa Winton, and with me is
Kenny Toy, also known as Swami Jayananda,
founder of the Institute for Personal
Development, located here in Hampton, New
Hampshire. Good morning, Swami. Thank you
(00:45):
for being here today. How are you?
Good morning. I'm doing pretty good
today. How about you?
Well, I'm doing great today, too. Thanks
for asking. And we'd like to thank you
all for tuning in. Today in The Voice of
Yoga, we will talk about the nature of
material law versus the nature of Divine
Law, and why the Bible says, "Except the
(01:06):
Lord build the house, they labor in vain
that build it." And that's from Psalm
127:1. Listen as we compare the material
concept stating, "Matter can't be created
nor destroyed, only changed with the
Spiritual Idea of the changeless state of
Oneness." In this show, we will explore
(01:27):
the possibilities of overcoming the
limitations of material or karmic law by
conscious awareness of the Divine
Creation. Welcome to The Voice of Yoga.
We are talking consciousness. Join the
Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance to get the
light in your soul and let the Lord build
your house. Swami the title of today's
(01:48):
show is "The Physics of Manifesting
Abundance." Well, let's get started. What
can you tell us about this title?
As we advance in our understanding of
Divine Science, we realize if anything is
done with personal sense, it can be done
for good or for bad. This is the nature
(02:10):
of the beast, duality,
under the belief in two powers.
This understanding lends greater meaning
to the Psalm 127:1, which we read in the
opening, "Except the Lord build the
house, they labor in vain that build it."
(02:32):
To build anything with personal sense or
under karmic law is hypnosis, a false
sense of existence claiming to be real,
totally dependent on
belief for its appearance.
In Truth, only Spirit is Real. Spirit is
(02:56):
the only Self-Existent power everywhere,
always. It is Eternal Life.
Spirit doesn't rely on belief for
anything. The Divine Principle rests in
Its Perfect Divine Creation. The key here
(03:16):
is that we must let the Divine Mind do
what it is doing best, which is creating
a Perfect universe. We just
have to get out of the way.
So Swami, how would we allow this Divine
Mind to take over what
we would call our life?
(03:39):
Yeah, what we are calling life, this
mental-material world of energy, is not
what the Bible calls Life. Life is hid
with Christ in God. Life is Eternal,
Perfect, Whole, Complete.
Now, to set the table for
(03:59):
this discussion on manifestation,
let's look at what Mary Baker Eddy wrote
in Body, and I'll read it. "Paul tells us,
not that we are sufficient of ourselves
to think anything as of ourselves, but
our sufficiency is of God. Our
(04:19):
sufficiency to think is of God. Our
ability to form thoughts and opinions is
of our own ignorance, our belief in
duality. But our power, or sufficiency to
think, is when we think with God as God.
From this basis, then, we see that man's
(04:42):
wrong or ignorant beliefs and opinions
and misinterpretations do not create or
produce conditions in the body or in
God's substance anywhere. Wrong thinking,
which is really mental chaos and
confusion itself, has no power to create.
(05:04):
It does not create conditions of disease.
The wrong thinking itself, the mental
confusion and chaos itself, is the
condition, for the condition is wholly and
entirely of that personal mentality."
End of quote.
So, we don't create anything in Truth. We
(05:27):
only change our thoughts about the
Perfection of Being. This is an important
thing that we have to start to
understand, this idea of manifesting
abundance. We're accustomed to working
with thought and belief. And with thought
and belief, we can change
finite bad to finite good.
(05:51):
But this doesn't have any effect on the
Truth of Being; noumena and phenomena,
how things are and how they appear to be.
We only have an effect on the appearance,
not on the substance of Eternal Life.
(06:12):
So, Swami, if we don't create anything in
Truth, and you say we can only change
our thoughts about the Perfection of
Being, what does that look like when we
do that, and is that enough?
I think to begin to handle this question,
we have to understand the nature of
Spirit and then the nature of error.
(06:35):
Change is the nature of error. This idea
of manifesting, to bring things into
form, is 180 degrees from the dynamics of
Spirit, which is the unified state,
Wholeness, Completion. When we
(06:57):
are trying to manifest things,
we are living out from this false sense
of existence. We're working in duality
under the law of karma. It is driven by a
belief in two powers, which is a hypnotic
(07:18):
state. We're in a dream state. It's an
illusion. There's nothing real about this
world. In order for us to break this
hypnosis, we had to
learn how to transform.
What that means is, trans go through
form, the physical. We literally have to
(07:42):
separate our identity from being
individualized by this world mind, and
then rejoin with the Omnipresence of the
Divine Principle. Jesus called this born
again of Spirit. That's why we're talking
about the physics of manifesting
(08:05):
abundance. The goal of this incarnation
is for us to realize the Truth, to
experience wholeness, completion. The way
we do this is by initiating this process
in development, where we graduate from
(08:27):
being individualized by the world mind,
and we shift our thought from this mental
material basis to a Spiritual basis. We
can't continue drawing from fear and
limitation and expect to be Truth and
Wholeness. This is insanity, doing the
(08:50):
same thing, expecting a different return.
And so, this idea of "Except the Lord build the
house we labor in vain that build it."
We're building a
consciousness with duality.
And mathematically, you can't ever find a
(09:11):
number you can't multiply by 0.5. This is
the confinement, the limitation, the
frustration we all feel when we're trying
to complete ourselves in this dimension
that completion is impossible. We're in a
mind that can't bring
forth the Divine image.
(09:34):
Swami, I've heard you say before material law
states matter can neither be created nor
destroyed, only changed. Can you dive a
little deeper with that for us?
Well again, we have learned with thought
and belief we can change finite bad to
finite good, always under
(09:55):
the influence of change.
Spirit is changeless. The request in the
Bible is "Ask in my name and it shall be
given to you." My name means my likeness.
If we continue to accept mortality and
this temporary sense of existence, then
(10:17):
we don't qualify for communication with
the Divine Principle. In order for us to
open the channels of communication with
the Divine Principle, we must know
ourselves in the way that we are created,
which is Spirit, Whole. As our identity
shifts from mental-material to Spiritual,
(10:41):
then we understand ourselves from a
completely different perspective. As
Spirit, there are no needs.
Spirit is not under the same restrictions
as the mental-material form. Now we are
under a completely different government.
(11:01):
And the laws of matter, for every action,
there is an equal and an opposite
reaction. Thought itself is dualistic.
For every thought we put out, every good
positive thought contains a
complementary, unmanifested, opposite
(11:21):
part. So we're in this cycle, this mental
loop where we can't seem to complete
ourselves. And so the request in the
Bible was "Repent," which means "Think
differently." Here we learn to stop
thinking, stop forming thoughts and
(11:42):
opinions based on information coming
through the corporeal senses, and make
your mind an avenue of awareness for the
Divine Idea, the Word of God pouring out
continuously. In order for us to let the
Lord build our house, we must make our
(12:03):
mind an avenue of awareness for this
Divine Principle. In that Silence and
Stillness, we are waiting on the Lord. It
requires what we call a
two-part authentication.
I must be conscious of
the Divine Principle,
(12:24):
and Divine Mind must acknowledge Itself
as me. This inner click that takes place,
then we are letting Divine Mind express
Itself through us. Until then, we are
still under the illusion and
(12:45):
individualized by the world mind, which
is pouring out its concept about the
Divine Creation, because it believes in
two powers. It's a contradiction.
Swami, please give us an
example of the nature of error.
(13:06):
I was reading a magazine on the headline,
"At Age 65, A Life-Changing Diagnosis." I
immediately rewrote it in my mind as an
error, for Life is purely Spiritual and
as a result, Changeless. Nothing can ever
(13:27):
change Eternal Life. So what is
happening? It is the appearance that is
changing, but the Life is untouched by
anything mental or material. This is an
important Principle to begin to
understand. The Divine Creation is
everywhere always, and it is Changeless.
(13:51):
How can this help me when the doctor
tells you you have something? Go back to
the hypnosis. With thought and belief, I
can change finite bad to finite good.
Now, listen to what Mary Baker Eddy said,
and I'll read it. "The verity of Mind
(14:12):
shows conclusively how it is that matter
seems to be, but is not. Divine Science,
rising above physical theories, excludes
matter, resolves things into thoughts,
and replaces the objects of material
sense with spiritual ideas." End of
(14:36):
quote. Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, page 123, lines 11 to 15.
We're going to pause right here to hear a
word from our sponsor. Listeners, we'll
be back with you in just a few moments.
Kriya Yoga Asana Class is a module
fitting into the Master Plan, leading the
(14:58):
practitioner to the experience of total
consciousness by attuning the mind-body
complex to the Divine Idea, a system of
exercises designed to use the physical
appearance to determine individual level
of consciousness and degree of awareness.
Starting with the process of lengthening
and strengthening muscles to bring bones
(15:19):
into the position of internal support. We
educate thought up to Spiritual
apprehension, because when Spirit is
cause, It calls into expression the
beauty of Holiness,
making creation Perfect.
Mountain Pose may not bring you Truth in
consciousness, but Truth in consciousness
must bring Mountain Pose. Visit the
(15:40):
website, www.iptransform.com. Namaste.
Welcome back. For those of you who are
just joining us, you're listening to The
Voice of Yoga, and we are talking
consciousness. So Swami I'd like to get back to
(16:01):
that example that you gave us when the
doctor tells us we have something. So how
would we go about to
rewrite that in our mind as error?
Yeah, to manifest abundance in this
model, we step out of the way and we let
the Divine Principle build the house.
(16:22):
House means consciousness, and
consciousness is experience. The choice
here is, I can do it
with my personal will
or my belief in a higher power with
thought and belief to change the finite
bad to finite good. Or I can let Divine
(16:45):
Mind take over the scientific government
of my being and build a consciousness of
Absolute Goodness without opposite. It
sounds like a simple choice,
but in order for us to apply
the Divine Principle, there are things
(17:06):
that have to be in place. Like we say, we
have to learn how to think differently,
graduate from thinking with five
corporeal senses to Knowing with seven
Spiritual senses. The Bible called this
the Mind of Christ, to have the birth of
(17:26):
Christ in consciousness. So it's not as
simple as it might sound, but by the same
token, if you follow the steps, you can
start to graduate from being influenced
by the mental-material world of energy
and now being under the influence of the
(17:48):
Divine Law of Absolute Eternal Life.
Swami could you just clarify, I want to make
sure I have this right. Earlier said our
belief in a higher power with thought and
belief to change finite bad to finite
good, that our choice to do that. So I
just want to make sure that we are
believing in the right things. How do we
(18:08):
apply belief to be able
to make these changes?
Yes, see, belief is what gives thought
the power of intention. So like we say,
we can change finite bad to finite good.
That's why a lot of us are encouraged to
think positively. Divine Science is not
(18:31):
limited to that operation. Here we're
talking about belief in Truth. Now belief
in Truth graduates to faith. Faith is
where your belief in the Divine Principle
begins to change the appearance.
(18:52):
That belief in Truth then will graduate
to understanding where you are now in a
position where you can demonstrate Divine
Law with Scientific certainty. Appying the
operations of the Divine Principle
requires belief in the Truth and
(19:12):
Spiritual identity. In order to do this
Spiritually, you need a Principle and a
rule. The Principle is Life is Perfect.
It's Eternal, Changeless. The rule is
like attracts like. Spiritual identity is
(19:34):
required to call into expression this
beauty of Holiness, this Perfection of
Being. We must know ourselves in the way
we are created, which is Perfect. And I
really like what Mary Baker Eddy wrote in
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, page 445,
(19:56):
15 to 18.
You render the divine law of healing
obscure and void when you weigh the human
in the scale with the divine, or limit in
any direction of thought the omnipresence
and omnipotence of God."
End of the quote.
It isn't easy to overcome material law and
(20:17):
rise into Spiritual protection, but it is
physics. Like attracts like. We can begin
by being born again of Spirit, linking
the physical form to the invisible and
tangible Divine Omnipresence. Internalize
(20:37):
a new symbol for validation of the false
sense of life. Change the reward circuits
in your brain to look for Spirit to
produce the peak experience feeling we
call happiness. Why in Chinese Taoism,
Lao Tzu rides the bull. In Christianity,
(21:00):
Jesus rides into Jerusalem on the colt of
an ass. This is all symbolism. We must
rise above instinct, appetite,
preservation and survival. Gain a
personal sense of self and have human
intelligence and a human will before we
(21:21):
can walk reason through this open door of
Revelation. Surrender a personal sense of
self for the Divine Idea.
Swami we have a soundbite from Herb Fitch's
Revelation of St. John, class 4B.
Yeah, and if anybody is interested in the
(21:42):
full audio file or the complete program,
you can get this at
mysticalprinciples.com. Here it is.
The tree of good and evil shows us our
sense of beauty and our sense of
ugliness. But all we're looking at is our
own thought. We're looking at our world
thought individualized through each of us
(22:02):
as the world thinker pipes through the
flute of each one's mind. That world
thinker is the same fellow, the Lord God,
who said, "Now we've got this fellow
Adam. If only we can keep him away from
the tree of life so that he doesn't find
life eternal." But he's lost us because
we have found that Tree of Life and the
fruit of it is Life Eternal. The fruit of
it is immortality now, freedom from the
(22:25):
hypnosis of the five senses. "And to him
who overcometh, he shall not be heard of
the second death." That's the message
from God infinite to God the Son in the
midst of each of us. "Whoever has the
Son," says John, "has eternal life."
Whoever realizes he is the Son discovers
that the life of God is his only life. He
is now Divine Life. And then he walks
(22:47):
this earth, refusing to be tempted by his
senses into the belief that he is less
than that divine life. His fidelity is to
the Life that he is and not to the form
that appears. And he places his faith
where his fidelity is in the Life, not in
the form, knowing that his acceptance of
the Life is the protection for that which
(23:09):
appears as the form. Now you must learn
to practice, to look out and say, "That's
not a dog there. That's what my senses
tell me." But God didn't make a dog, or
else that little fellow couldn't run
under a car and be crushed. I can still
enjoy that dog's company, and even more
so, knowing the spirit of the Godhead
dwells there, I can feel the miracle of
(23:29):
that dog. I can see this world as
invisible Divine image made visible
through the five senses. And instead of
condemning what the five senses see, in
the errors and evils and ugliness around
me, I can accept the Divine image that
underlies the very substance of the
universe. For only that Divine image is
present here and now. Only the eyes of
(23:51):
the Father are here. Only the life of the
Father is here. There is no future life
to be attained. There is no immortality
to be attained. There is no human body
that can be made into an immortal later.
There is only the immortal life in here
and now which we come. It must be
practiced, though, not in the senses. You
must step out of your thought, into the
(24:13):
Father's thought, and there's a beautiful
way to do that. That's the meaning of
"Let the Lord build your house." Let
God's thought be your thought, not by
taking thought, but by taking no thought.
Let God do God's thinking in you. You
become the transparency for God's thought
and then you're out of your senses.
You're out of your limited concepts. For
(24:35):
God's thoughts can be your thought. For
God's thoughts are the thoughts of Christ
within you. God's thoughts are power.
God's thoughts are substance. God's
thoughts are the word, the law, the
perfection, the expression of perfect
ideas that express as harmony, truth,
beauty, joy, and all that. Truth, beauty,
all ideas that never perish. And then the
(24:58):
outer form is linked with the living
word. Let God think in you by
surrendering your thought. You become
then a state of awareness, not a thinker,
but one meek unto the divine thought.
Receptive, letting the infinite which is
present as your own individual selfhood
express through your conscious awareness.
(25:20):
You're in the single eye. God is thinking
and God's thought is the power that
supersedes every pretense of power on
this earth. When God is thinking through
your conscious awareness, the Lord is
building your house. The power of the
Father is moving through you in His will,
in His way, becoming your flesh and the
flesh of your complete experience on this
(25:42):
span of earth. And only then is the
infinite rhythm of God the rhythm of your
being. Let His thoughts be your thoughts,
not by thinking, but by receiving them,
being consciously aware without
conception on your part. Just aware that
you are conscious, not using your five
senses, but letting them wait as servants
(26:04):
for the divine impulse through your
awareness. And that divine impulse will
direct your senses to and into the proper
channel. God is now functioning God's
perfect universe everywhere. Your five
senses will not attest to that, and
therefore you must ascend above those
senses in a state of expectant, alert
(26:25):
awareness. And let the Father identify
the Father in that awareness. Let the
Father reveal the Father. Let the Father
define His universe where you stand. That
is why it was revealed through Isaiah
that my thoughts are not your thoughts
until you have overcome the devil of the
(26:45):
five senses, the five cosmic liars. Then
my kingdom is expressed from your own
withinness, and the treasures of the
kingdom pour forth fruit to you that
wherever you have sown to the spirit by
your silence of the senses, you reap of
the spirit. You realize your joint
airship in Christ with every person on
this earth. Now this must be practiced
(27:06):
then, that my senses will not fool me
into bringing to me a universe that is
not of God. A very good rule to follow is
God made nothing that can die.
So Swami now I understand that there is
definitely a difference between
manifesting abundance mentally or
manifesting abundance Spiritually. Is
there a danger to doing it mentally?
(27:27):
Well there's nothing intrinsically evil
with being under karmic law. You're in
the cycle of death and rebirth,
hypnotized, and you're on this roller
coaster. What you put out is what you get
back. It is the law of reciprocity. We're
experiencing problems under karmic law
(27:49):
primarily because karmic law is the love
of God, not letting us accept this
imperfect temporary sense of life. It's a
signal you're in the wrong self, but we
have to have a willingness to challenge
the law of karma. In order to do it with
(28:12):
any degree of success, you have to know a
tried and true method. It doesn't just
happen instinctually. We had to be taught
how to grow psychologically and
Spiritually. There's a difference between
visualization and Spiritualization. It
comes down to what is it I esteem as
(28:35):
valuable. Do I sow to the flesh? Do I
think persons, places, and things are
more valuable than the invisible,
intangible, Divine Omnipresence of
Eternal Life, the Changeless State of
Being, It's just a cosmic game. It's a
(28:56):
mind game. And once you figure it out,
then the game is over and you now walk in
the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, but
you're no longer dealing with the drama
that comes with accepting a
vulnerable sense of mortality.
(29:18):
