initiate this process. {End of Music}
Good morning, welcome
to The Voice of Yoga.
Let's talk consciousness.
I am your hostess, Lisa Winton, and with
me is Kenny Toy, also known as Swami
Jayananda, founder of the Institute for
Personal Development, located here in
Hampton, New Hampshire.

(00:43):
Good morning, Swami.
Thank you for being here today.
How are you?
Good morning.
I'm doing pretty good today.
How about you?
Well, I'm doing great today, too.
Thanks for asking, and we'd like to thank
you all for tuning in.
Today on The Voice of Yoga, we will talk
about how methodology for initiation is
a way to induce the revealing of the
Omnipresent Spirit within.

(01:04):
Listen as we discuss the idea of piercing
the veil by mastering the three modes of
mortal thought, which is the veil.
In this episode, we will explore John 17:15-16
, and I'll read it.
"I pray not that thou should take them
out of the world, but that thou should
keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world,

(01:25):
even as I am not of the world."
End of the verse.
Welcome to The Voice of Yoga.
We are talking consciousness.
Join the Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance to
get the Light in your
soul and Know the Truth.
Swami, I see the title of today's show is
"Unveil the
Omnipresence of Divine Truth."
Would you mind breaking
down that title for us?

(01:47):
Yeah, it's the purpose of teaching and
the teacher to open the
individual to the Light within.
How to unveil the Omnipresence of Spirit
by revealing the Truth of Being within.
Only Spirit is because
Spirit is All in All.

(02:09):
All is Absolute Goodness.
But no one sees it.
Why?
Because Spirit is Whole.
And the mortal mind works in duality.
The mortal mind can't free
itself from its own creation.
The law of karma is a thought loop, and

(02:30):
it can't just be broken.
We must grab onto something outside the
mental-material world of energy.
And this is Spirit.
Spirit and the mental
-material are opposites.
In that, mental-material is the
reflection of Spirit,

(02:51):
thus nothing by nature.
Swami, I have a few
curiosities about what you just said.
And one of them is Spirit is All and All
is Absolute Goodness, but no one sees it.
We need to dive, I think,
a little deeper into that.
Yeah, like I said, Spirit is
whole beyond time and space.

(03:13):
There is only Spirit,
and there is only One.
It's not like I have my Spirit or I'm
Spiritual and you're not.
To understand Spirit is to
understand the Absolute Oneness.
One Perfect Divine Life,
everywhere, always, Eternal.

(03:35):
The mind we use to get us through this
lifetime is incapable of perceiving that.
The mortal mind works on contrast.
It works in duality.
It's helpful to understand what we call
the principle of manifestation, how
things come into form.
In order for something to appear, it has

(03:57):
to split from unity, manifest in half,
and then leave behind a complementary,
unmanifested other part.
That's the trinity that we talk about.
You've got the manifested, the
complementary,
unmanifested, and the Absolute.
In Truth, the only thing
that's real is the Absolute.

(04:19):
But we have the appearances, things that
report in the testimony of
the corporeal sense mind.
To perceive the Divine Creation, we have
to develop the faculty capable of
receiving Divine Revelation.
It speaks in terms of the Absolute.

(04:40):
I think there's a lot of Spiritual people
out there that think if they're having a
good day, it's because God
was watching out for them.
But you had said Absolute Goodness is
something that we just cannot see.
So what is it we are experiencing then if
we feel we're having
a day touched by God?
Well, see, this is where it gets

(05:01):
complicated because of the illusion of
the mental-material world of energy,
which is seemingly
under the law of karma.
It's under material law.
When something manifests, when it comes
into form, it manifests in half and then

(05:22):
leaves behind a complementary,
unmanifested other part.
The entire illusion is driven by a belief
in two powers, the polar opposites.
Without belief, this dissolves into the
nothingness it really is.
That's why in the Bible,

(05:42):
Jesus says not to take thought.
Human thoughts, even your good thoughts,
have a complementary, unmanifested, bad
part that comes with it.
It's the nature of the beast.
Again, in the Bible, where it says,
"Except the Lord, build the house, they
labor in vain, that build it."

(06:03):
If we do this with human will, personal
sense, with mortal mind, we
can do it for good or for bad.
But even the good, what we call finite
good, and Spirit is
Absolute Goodness without opposite.

(06:23):
Swami, you had indicated we must grab
onto something outside the mental,
material world of
energy and that was Spirit.
So my question to you is, how do we get
outside this mental-material world of
energy where we are so embroiled in it?
Right.
This is part of the procedure we talk
about, this idea of resolving the

(06:46):
physical body into a mental image capable
of receiving Divine Revelation.
It begins with this idea of your first
holy communion or the new covenant.
We start by re-birthing the physical body
in the invisible,
intangible Divine Omnipresence.

(07:07):
The physical body, which comes in with a
pattern, preservation, survival, Mary
Baker Eddy called that animal magnetism.
The body lives in fear, in chronic
anxiety, and it is
constantly seeking validation.
The pattern the body comes in with, it
looks for food, mother,

(07:29):
it looks for approval.
It's an infantile defense mechanism.
When you're an infant, if somebody out
there does not like
you, then you will expire.
You can't take care of yourself.
But when we reach a certain age in
development, we should separate from this
pattern and rejoin with a more reliable

(07:51):
and a more dependable
source of sustenance.
Graduate from drawing from particles
and oftentimes waves, and now we draw
from the unified
state, the invisible Spirit.
You're drawing from the
source of sustenance within.
You're no longer drawing off the outside

(08:13):
world, and your exchange
of energy is giving out.
This produces the calmness, the
stillness, then enables us to be able to
overcome the influence of these other
modes of mortal thinking, human
intelligence, and world mind.
World mind is functioning as corporeal

(08:36):
sense in human consciousness.
We have to cast that out before we can
have this faculty that will enable us to
perceive the Truth,
perceive the Light within.
So Swami, would that be what you're
talking about when you had said the
phrase the mental-material is the

(08:59):
reflection of Spirit?
Yeah, mental-material is a reflection.
Just like when you look in a mirror, the
image looking back at you, there's no
Life, Truth, intelligence, or
substance in that reflection.
The same is true with the entire mental-material
universe we think is real.

(09:21):
Once you have pierced through the veil of
this mental-material illusion, and you
have the faculty that enables you to
perceive the Truth, you will then
experience what Jesus called "know the
Truth and it will make you free."
It will make you free from the belief in

(09:44):
a finite, temporary sense of existence.
Liberate you from
material law-- for every action.
There is an equal and
an opposite reaction.
Free you from all of the human concepts,
theories, and beliefs
we're all limited by.

(10:05):
Swami, we frequently say the phrase "get
the Light in your soul."
Can you tell us what
exactly is the Light?
I always think of what it says in the
beginning of the Book of John.
"In Him is life, and the life of Him is
the Light of all men."

(10:25):
Spiritual Light is the joining of Truth
with Spirit, or the activity of the
Divine Principle in the Christ.
This is called the word made flesh.
The Divine Creation is functioning
everywhere always, and we must be

(10:46):
conscious of it to
activate it in experience.
So, if the Divine Creation is All, and All
is Absolute Goodness, what is the mental-
material appearance we call this world?
The veil.
The veil is a reflection, a shadow, a

(11:08):
belief, or concept, or thought about what
is really everywhere always.
And so the key question here is, can the
mind free itself from its own creation?
What comes first?
The bird or the egg?
Do we Know the Truth, and that sets us

(11:30):
free from the belief?
Or do we stop believing or stop thinking?
In order for us to pierce through the
false appearance of the
mental-material illusion.
Swami, let's continue and explore from

(11:51):
John 17:15-16, and I'll read it again.
"I pray not that thou should take them
out of the world, but that thou should
keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world,
even as I am not of the world." End of the
verse. Can we dive a little deeper about this
verse, especially what
we've just been talking about?

(12:12):
Yeah, in order for us to be receptive to
this Light, start to build a mental
landscape that will
support the Divine Principle.
Herb Fitch does a great job in
Realization of Oneness, where he tells
us, "We are to know we are
Christ, not in the world.

(12:33):
While appearing as form in the world."
I always open that up into the plural,
appearing as forms, because it's not just
me, it's everyone out there is a
reflection of Christ.
There's only One Life, and it's Perfect.
What we're looking at with our corporeal

(12:53):
senses is world thought
functioning as corporeal sense.
It's just an illusion.
But until we have the faculty to perceive
the Truth, then work on belief.
We believe in the concept of God.
We believe in the Allness of the

(13:15):
Perfection of Being.
Belief in Truth then graduates to faith.
Divine Principle will
start to demonstrate.
That's the power of this practice.
We're going to pause right
here to hear from our sponsor.
Listeners, we'll be back
with you in just a few moments.

(13:44):
Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance at Institute
for Personal Development Incorporated,
Kriya Yoga Ashram, is a complete program
for anyone looking to demonstrate Divine
Law with Scientific certainty.
To demonstrate Divine Law, conscious
awareness of Divine Truth is necessary.
The Spiritual Advance
starts with the Divine Creation.

(14:04):
Beginning with the
Principle, Life is Perfect.
Resting in the knowledge, Life is
Eternal, Formless,
Changeless, and Absolute Good.
The practitioner retreats from the
obstructions which are the veiling
conditions of the mortal mind.
Then rest in the
knowledge of the Divine Principle.
Thus revealing the precept,

(14:25):
consciousness is experience.
Visit the website www.iptransform.com
and begin living under Spiritual Truth.
Welcome back.
For those who are just joining us, you
are listening to The Voice of Yoga and we
are talking consciousness.

(14:45):
Swami, is there anything else we can
learn from the verse of John 17:15-16?
Yeah, I think the important part is he doesn't
want the Divine Principle
to take us out of the world.
And he also said, "Keep them from evil."
He doesn't say, "Keep evil from them."

(15:07):
In order for us to develop the faculty to
perceive the Divine Creation, we have to
be able to walk through this illusion
without being tempted to fall for the
belief in this false sense of existence.
Once we have proven ourselves to be a
faithful witness to the Divine Creation,

(15:30):
then faith in the Divine Principle will
graduate to understanding, where you will
then be able to demonstrate Divine Law
with Scientific certainty.
But there's that old saying, "Practice
makes perfect" isn't true.
Practice makes Perfect
when practice is Perfect.

(15:51):
And nobody's going to shut
the mental-material concept off for us.
We are going to have to be able to
overcome our belief in it
and walk through the fire.
Without the belief, I'm a finite,
vulnerable, mortal being.

(16:12):
Sawmi, let's have a deeper discussion about the
three modes of mortal thought and what we
should learn about those.
To be able to overcome world mind, we
have to master the lower mind of
instinct, appetite, preservation, and
survival come out of the fear.
And of course, if we don't rebirth the

(16:35):
body in Spirit, then there's really no
progression with this.
If your body is still longing for
something visible and tangible or
invisible but tangible.
This is one of the reasons why at some
point in Christian Science, they made a
very clear distinction between what they

(16:57):
called the milk of Christian Science and
the meat of Christian Science.
And it is essential no one gets the meat
until they are done with the milk.
If we don't separate from the pattern of
the body, then you can't
go any further with this.

(17:19):
If you don't allay the fear, if you don't
come out of the belief in a mortal sense
of self, then you don't
advance in this practice.
Once you have separated from mother,
you're no longer
considered born of woman.
The next octave of that
was called born of man.

(17:39):
We develop our psychological organs,
perception, reason, memory, intuition.
We cultivate human intelligence, able to
make decisions based on a value system in
accordance with universal order.
This is essential.
And then the next octave of that is this

(18:01):
idea of overcoming world mind, which is
functioning as corporeal
sense in consciousness.
So once you have cast out Judas, this
betrayal in Revelation, they call it
looks like a lamb, speaks like a dragon.

(18:22):
You have now completed the cycle and you
would be considered born of Spirit.
So Swami, where do we go from there?
Yeah, then the next part of this is
linking the form to the mortal mind, then
link the mortal mind to the soul to bring
in the Light of Truth.

(18:44):
The methodology can be symbolized by the
Transfiguration in the Bible, idea of a
metaphor, Jesus taking James, Peter and
John to the Mountaintop,
where Moses and Elijah appear.
This is all phase one
in this two-part process.
Phase two is when we exchange the

(19:07):
object's of sense for the Divine Idea.
And the methodology for this can be
symbolized by the Resurrection of Lazarus
in the Bible, where the sisters alert
Jesus that Lazarus is in trouble.
Then Lazarus is placed in the tomb.

(19:27):
Jesus waits four days
before he goes to Bethany.
Mary comes out and greets Jesus.
Mary goes in and gets Martha.
Martha comes out and greets Jesus.
The sisters show Jesus
where Lazarus is buried.
And then Jesus calls
Lazarus out of the tomb.

(19:49):
This is all symbolism for how we would
attune the mind-body
complex to the Divine Idea.
How we would be able to control how we
are thinking to the point where we could
stop thinking, make our mind an avenue of
awareness for the
operation of Divine Mind.

(20:11):
And in that Silence and Stillness, we let
Divine Mind do Its
Knowing in our awareness.
So we become a transparency, no longer
reflecting world mind functioning as
corporeal sense, but we are reflecting
the operation of the Perfection of Being.

(20:35):
Swami, in the Science and Health with the
Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy
said Divine Mind should take over the
Scientific government of the body.
Can you maybe give us
more insight on that?
Yeah, I think the answer is found in the New
Covenant, which is experienced through
the rebirthing of the body in Spirit.

(20:57):
The connection must be tested.
Practicing Spiritual awareness means we
walk through the fire because we are the
Light, which means we walk through the
temptation to believe the testimony of
the corporeal senses.
The good and evil world of energy, trying

(21:20):
to tell us God is not
all, God is not here.
Swami, I have a passage from Joel S.
Goldsmith from a work he did called
"Starting the
Contemplative Life," and I'll read it.
"No person on the face of the globe can
hope for Spiritual enLightenment unless
he can first of all recognize that there

(21:42):
can only be One creative Principle, and
that its location is neither in holy
mountains nor yet in
the temples in Jerusalem.
Its location is neither here nor there,
but within you, and it makes no
difference who the you may be.
It makes no difference if it is the you
in a hospital, the you in prison, or the

(22:04):
you in business, in
art, or in a profession.
The kingdom of God is within you, and the
kingdom of God is
Spirit, not a superhuman being.
This step constitutes the very first step
in attaining Spiritual Light.
The presence of God is within you,
whoever the you may be."
Ended the passage so far, Swami,
what are your thoughts?

(22:25):
Well, we definitely have to know the
Divine Principle, know God aright, know
the Goodness, the Allness of the Divine
Principle to get the
benefit of this Knowing.
If we don't understand the Absolute
Goodness of the Omnipresent Divine
Principle, then there's no way you could

(22:48):
demonstrate that, because you're still
under karmic law, working with a belief
in two powers, and we must be pure of
heart to be receptive
to the Divine Principle.
Swami, I'm going to read the next part from
that same work by Joel S. Goldsmith.

(23:09):
"When you have taken that as a point of
meditation and have come to the place
where you actually feel the Truth of it,
where you actually feel the presence of
God in the air or in your body, in your
business, in your home, in your
competitor, or in the enemy across the
sea or across the street,
you come to the next step.
This step everyone must take before

(23:30):
enLightenment can come, which is the
realization that since the kingdom of God
is within you, it must be
permitted to flow out from you.
It cannot come to you, and you must, as
some stage in your
unfoldment, let it flow through you."
End of the passage so far.
Swami again, any insights from you?

(23:51):
This is exactly what we're talking about.
We stop trying, striving, struggling,
seeking, planning, asking.
We rest in that Silence, that Stillness,
and we let Divine Mind do
"Its Thinking" in our awareness.
But to do this with any kind of success,

(24:12):
we must first be conscious of the Divine
Creation, then Divine
Mind.
acknowledges Itself as you, the
two-part authentication
that takes place here.
We're no longer thinking, letting Divine
Mind, which thinks in terms of the

(24:33):
Absolute, do Its Knowing in your
awareness, just reflecting
the Divine image and likeness.
What Joel Goldsmith means when he says,
"Finding a way to let it out."
Swami, I think it would be interesting to
maybe talk a little bit more about the
milk and the meat of Christian Science.

(24:55):
Gilbert Carpenter in Notes on Divinity
wrote this, and I'll read it.
"The milk, or “grain,” of Christian Science for
which they are ready is the teaching and
practice whereby the power of God
is brought into human experience to
bless, heal, and purify; to resolve the inharmony

(25:18):
and discord of material sense into harmony
and health.
Beyond this simple healing doctrine
is the more profound teaching that indicates
the employment of the power of divine Mind
to eliminate
mortal mind, or matter, in all its
phases, to destroy every human harmony in

(25:41):
order to replace it with Divine harmony.
The milk of Christian Science symbolizes
the power of God to improve mortal man's
dream of existence, a primary step that
is necessary to destroy fear and to start
him on the road towards salvation.

(26:01):
The meat of Christian Science involves
the entire dissipation of the Adam dream
in order to awaken man
to Spiritual reality.
This further growth demands of man to
leave all for Christ.
It is plain that the meat of Christian
Science is too strong for babes.

(26:23):
It would choke or chemicalize them.
Therefore, the Christian Science Board of
Directors, who have direct charge of the
babes, are functioning properly when they
take steps to protect the babes.
And watch lest they
obtain the meat prematurely.
They are justified in many of their

(26:43):
attempts to discredit the meat in the
eyes of the babes, even to the point of
asserting that the milk of the word is
all there is to Christian Science.
Since if the babes begin to discover that
there is something beyond the milk before
they have taken full advantage of it,

(27:04):
they may be tempted to neglect the milk
in an effort to obtain
the meat prematurely." End of quote.
If you do not rebirth the body in the
Life Force, in Spirit, then you don't
have the foundation that will enable you
to move beyond the limits

(27:27):
of this mortal existence.
However, from my perspective, all milk
and no meat seems to be
where Christian Science is today.
Even birds have to be kicked out of the
nest at a certain point in development.
And who wants to jump out of a perfectly
good airplane today?

(27:49):
Swami, another thought about the verse of
John 17:15-16, when Jesus says, "I am
not of the world," but yet he was
actually in the world.
So can we just make that
connection with that again?
Yeah, it comes back to what Herb told us.
"We are to know that we are Christ, not in

(28:11):
the world, while
appearing as form in the world."
This is an important thing that enables
you to grab onto something outside this
world, especially if you use the image
that we do, the man, the
bull, the lion, and the eagle,

(28:31):
which is working with what we will call a
diagram for the body of Christ, using
seven personal planets,
twelve signs of the zodiac.
That's a huge symbol, and to rise into
that body of Christ now enables you to be

(28:54):
receptive to an Infinite Mind,
which is something you cannot do at this
level of consciousness.
If you continue to believe you are in
form, there's no way you
will receive Divine Revelation.
