Development, Kriya Yoga Ashram, where
Total Consciousness is the new frontier.
Kriya Yoga is union of the
individual with the Divine.

(00:22):
Join us as we explore the practices to
initiate this process.
Good morning, welcome to the Voice of
Yoga, Let's Talk Consciousness. I am your
hostess, Lisa Winton, and with me is
Kenny Toy, also known as Swami Jayananda,
founder of the Institute for Personal
Development, located here in Hampton, New

(00:42):
Hampshire. Good morning, Swami. Thank you
for being here today. How are you?
Good morning. I'm doing pretty good
today. How about you?
I'm doing great today too. Thanks for
asking. And we'd like to thank you all
for tuning in. Today on the Voice of
Yoga, we will talk about the statement
"Consciousness is Experience" and why
true consciousness is true health. Listen

(01:04):
as we continue to separate the unreal
from the Real by expanding awareness
beyond the limits of corporeal sense into
Spiritual Truth. In this show, we will
discuss benefits of being a faithful
witness to the invisible, intangible
Divine Omnipresence as a
reliable insurance policy.

(01:26):
Welcome to the Voice of Yoga, we are
talking consciousness. Join the Kriya Yoga
Spiritual Advance to get the light in
your soul and experience true health. Swami
the title today's show is "What Exactly
Is Good Health?" And I thought what I
would do before we got started is I was
going to read a couple of definitions of

(01:48):
the word health. And the first one is
coming from the Oxford Languages
Dictionary. They're saying the meaning of
the word health is the state of being
free from illness or injury. And then I
thought it was interesting. I have a
definition here from the WHO, which is
the World Health Organization. They say

(02:11):
health is a state of complete physical,
mental, and social well-being and not
merely the absence of disease or
infirmity. Now I know you have the origin
of the word health,
can you give that to us?
The word health originates from the Old
English word "haelth," meaning

(02:33):
"wholeness," "being whole," or "sound."
This root word "hael" also means healthy,
sound, and safe. The term evolved from a
sense of physical well-being to encompass
a broader meaning of complete well-being,

(02:54):
including physical, mental, and social
aspects. End of quote.
Swami I think its really interesting
that we have origin of the word health
and then it has changed throughout our
time to really mean a lot more than what
its original meaning was.
Well, I think that's typical about

(03:16):
everything because even learning how to
follow the scriptural command to judge
righteously, as Yogi Bajjan said, "If you
don't see God everywhere, you don't see
God anywhere." In the Light of Divine
Truth, there's no error.
Spirit is the dissolving force of the

(03:38):
universe, translating everything back to
itself. In Truth, there's only health
because there is no opposition in
Spiritual Wholeness. What we find is this
fact is very threatening to the false
mortal sense of life. And so we have a tendency

(04:00):
to be so attached to this mortal sense of
self that we are resistant to the Truth
of Being, which is-- Life is
Perfect, It's Whole, Complete.
Swami let's talk about this statement
"consciousness is experience."

(04:21):
Why does that mean true
consciousness is true health?
Yeah, consciousness is experience. What
we are experiencing through our corporeal
senses is what we are conscious of. It's
one of the reasons why it's so valuable
to have this form. Without the form,

(04:44):
without the appearance, there's no way of
us knowing what we are conscious of.
That's why Jesus said, "Now it is day,
and I must do the work of him that has
sent me. Soon it will be night when no
one can work." Spiritually speaking, when
you have a physical form, is considered
day. Night is when the form expires, and

(05:09):
yet we continue through the astral plane.
The idea here is for us to be liberated
from the cycle of death and rebirth, the
belief in mortality.
And so consciousness is experience.
We can use what is appearing in our

(05:29):
corporeal senses as an indicator of
whether we are sewing to the flesh, the
mental-material world of duality, driven
by a belief in two powers, or am I a
faithful witness to the Divine creation,
which is under the power of One Perfect

(05:52):
Divine creative Principle. And so in the
Bible where it says, "Except the Lord
build the house," they labor in vain that
build it. This mental-material world of
energy is not the Divine creation. The
Divine creation is functioning everywhere
always, but it's not comprehensive to

(06:16):
corporeal sense. The command in the Bible
was "repent," means think differently. We
have to graduate from perceiving things
through the five corporeal senses to
knowing things with our
seven Spiritual senses.
One of the reasons why in the Bible it

(06:38):
talks about the Christ. The Christ is the
saving aspect of Truth. It's what makes
the Divine creation comprehensive to
human consciousness.
With the Mind of Christ, we can perceive
the Divine creation. That's why the
message of the Christ is "heal the sick,

(06:59):
reform sinner, raise the dead." Conscious
awareness of the Divine creation
dissolves the mental-material world of
make-believe. And so, true health is
really when we are
externalizing the Divine idea.

(07:19):
Are we talking about different levels of
consciousness here? Would that be called
Super Consciousness? Isn't there a term
for that when we have reached
that level, that highest level?
One of the hardest things is to try and
understand the Infinite in finite terms.
To answer your question, we do have

(07:40):
statements like meditation. We have terms
in yoga like Samadhi, Illumination,
Enlightenment.
These are all words in a book. They are
directly associated with experiences.
The key here is to experience the

(08:02):
realization of Oneness, One Being, which
really requires graduation from being
influenced by the mental-material world
of energy, duality, and your thought
shifts under the
jurisdiction of Spiritual reality.

(08:26):
Swami that leads me into the
next question I have for you.
Let's talk about how we can continue to
separate the unreal from the Real. First
of all, let's explain what the unreal is
and how does that compare to the Real.
The unreal is anything that reports in
the corporeal sense mind.

(08:49):
The Real is the invisible, intangible,
Divine, Spiritual creation. A good rule
to follow is God did not make anything
that can die. Spirit is the changeless
state of being. So once you start to see the

(09:09):
changes in the external environment, then
you know that it is not
made by the Divine Principle.
You treat it differently. We don't want
to fear, love, or hate anything that does
not have the Divine quality. The
scriptural command is to love God, Love

(09:31):
the Perfection of Being, the Changeless
state of being. But again, to Know God,
we need the Mind of Christ. We need to
graduate from thinking with five
corporeal senses to Knowing
with seven Spiritual senses.
And then of course, consciousness is

(09:53):
experience. When we are no longer forming
thoughts and opinions based on
information coming through our corporeal
senses and we are conscious of the
invisible, intangible, Divine idea, then
we stop thinking and we let Divine Mind

(10:14):
do Its thinking
through our consciousness.
And then that will externalize a
completely different image. It will have
the Divine qualities.
So if we were to separate the unreal from
the Real by expanding awareness beyond
these corporeal senses, how

(10:36):
would we go about to do that?
Well, what I typically recommend is start
with a belief in the Divine creation.
Build a mental landscape that will
support the Divine idea. Once you
understand the allness of the Perfection
of Being and you believe in that allness,

(10:57):
your belief in the Divine creation will
then begin to graduate to faith in the
Divine creation, which will then start to
externalize in your experience.
And as James told us, faith without works
is dead. If we are not conscious of

(11:20):
Divine Truth, then we are still in the
mind that can't bring forth the Divine
image. And so it's really a matter of
finding this Spiritual Truth within. And
we do that by no longer taking thought
but being silent and still. In silence

(11:42):
and stillness, we invite Divine Mind into
our awareness. It is thinking that it's
short-circuiting the Divine Principle.
Swami do you think there are some
verses in the Bible that have some pretty
good instruction, like we know Jesus
says, "Love your neighbor as yourself"?

(12:02):
Do you think that would be a good place
for some people to start, is just
recognizing what is around them is part
of the Allness, the Oneness?
As we say in our Kriya Yoga Asana class,
Mountain Pose, which is your ability to
stand in perfect posture with internal

(12:23):
support, where the bones are supporting
you internally and your muscles are
relaxed. Mountain Pose may not bring
Truth in consciousness, but Truth in
consciousness must bring Mountain Pose.
To be Spiritual is to be Perfect because
that is exactly what God is. To be

(12:45):
conscious of the Divine creation must
externalize Perfection. So what does
Jesus mean in Matthew 7:1? And I'll read
it. Judge not that ye be not judged.
Let's go to Matthew 7:6 and I'll read

(13:06):
that. "Give not that which is holy unto
the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls
before swine, lest they trample them
under their feet, and
turn again and rend you." End of quote.
The idea of "except the Lord build the
house, they labor in vain that build it."

(13:28):
Only the Divine Self is everywhere
always, and anything that does not have
Divine quality isn't there. Stop trying
to fix what isn't there and rest in the
knowledge of the Divine
Principle of Perfection.
If we are still seeing problems,

(13:50):
experiencing problems, we are in the mind
that can't bring forth the Divine image.
And so we really want to put our efforts
not in trying to react to the testimony
of the senses anymore. We just exacerbate
the problem. You can't fix anything with

(14:12):
the mortal mind. What we have to do is
stop trying. "I want" will always obscure
"I am." Divine Mind Knows it doesn't
think and it doesn't try. So we rest in
the knowledge. Life is Perfect.

(14:32):
We're going to pause right here to hear
from our sponsor listeners. We'll be back
with you in just a few moments.
Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance at Institute
for Personal Development, Inc.
Kriya Yoga Ashram, is a complete program

(14:52):
for anyone looking to demonstrate Divine
Law with Scientific certainty. To
demonstrate Divine Law, conscious
awareness of Divine Truth is necessary.
The Spiritual Advance starts with the
Divine creation. Beginning with the
Principle, Life is Perfect. Resting in
the knowledge, Life is Eternal, Formless,

(15:13):
Changeless, and Absolute Good. The
practitioner retreats from the
obstructions which are the veiling
conditions of the mortal mind. Then rests
in the knowledge of the Divine Principle.
Thus revealing the precept, consciousness
is experience. Visit the website
www.iptransformed.com and begin living

(15:35):
under Spiritual Truth.
Welcome back. For those of you who are
just joining us, you're listening to The
Voice of Yoga and we are talking
consciousness. Swami we do have here a
passage from Herb Fitch's Revelation of
St. John from Class 1B and I'll read it.

(15:56):
"Your authority is now revealed as Christ
within you, and you can either accept or
deny that authority. We can return to our
conventional ways. We can settle for a
degree of comfort in the physical
universe. We all have that option. That
is not the path of those who elect to
live in the Christ, and they go their way

(16:17):
and many of them are happy. Many of them
are successful. Many of them are
comfortable and safe. But the Christ
message says that we do not want that
stare and delusion for ourselves because
that is not Christ's safety, Christ's
success, Christ's comfort. And it can be
snatched away by the tides of human
circumstance, it has no sustaining law.

(16:40):
It has no substance of the Father. It is
not a Spiritual fact; it is a mental
fact. And anything that is a mental fact
is subject to the change of mind. This
world is a mental fact. Revelation is the
perception through soul of the reality
that underlies the mental images of this

(17:01):
world. The revelation then of St. John is
going to bring forth that which underlies
the images of this world, which underlies
the conditions that today are called
pollution, overpopulation, famine,
poverty, war, violence, hate. These are
conditions of this world and right where
they appear as parts of group

(17:23):
consciousness, right where even the
weather appears, I in the midst of these
stand in the permanent grace of the
kingdom of God on earth, invisible to
human sense but always at hand. And you
who elect to accept the essence of God,
the Christ, as your substance and the One
Life as your life, you are privileged to

(17:46):
enter that kingdom on earth now, walking
behind the visible, behind the
appearances of war and desecration,
behind the violence and the racism,
behind the flowing of blood on earth and
a kingdom where there is peace now, where
there is safety now, where there is
health now. But don't try to walk in

(18:07):
there as a mortal being in a body of
flesh. You won't find the door. You can
only walk in there when you have accepted
yourself to be your living Spirit. And
then I, the Spirit of you, will take you
into the kingdom of heaven on earth." End
of the quote. Swami, what are some of
your thoughts about this?

(18:28):
Well, at least now we know why we reject
my will for Thy Will. If we do anything
with our personal sense of will, we can
do it for good or for bad. It's just the
nature of the beast. For every action,
there is an equal and an opposite

(18:49):
reaction. It's how material illusion
deceives us. And so the more you start to
understand what Herb is saying here, the
less likely you are to fall for the idea
of finite good. I really like what he
said. It's not a Spiritual fact. It's a

(19:12):
mental fact. And mental-material is
dualistic. It's in constant
change. It's not permanent.
Spirit is the only Self-Existent power,
the Changeless state of Being. And so if
we settle for finite good, we continue to

(19:34):
believe in finite bad for that matter. We
stay stuck in this limited sense of self.
And as Jesus said, we will die in our
sin. We are missing the mark.
I like how Herb reminds us that we can
think that we're successful and happy and

(19:57):
comfortable and safe. And then he turns
on and says, "And it can be snatched away
by the tides of human circumstance."
Thus, I think, reminding us this is just
a mental image. What do you think?
Yeah, exactly. We're trying to build our
consciousness in sand
when we sow to the flesh.

(20:19):
Eventually, we start to see there isn't
really anything reliable or dependable in
the mental-material world of energy. And
when we come to that point where we are
ready to challenge our beliefs and
concepts and theories, then a good place

(20:39):
to turn is to Spiritual Science.
The reason I like Spiritual Science so
much is because it gets you out of the
belief level. What makes it a science is
Spirit is a demonstrable Principle. If
we're not proving conscious awareness of

(20:59):
this Divine Omnipresence, then we know
it's not the Divine Omnipresence. It is
my lack of awareness of It. And so
learning a metaphysical or a mystical
system becomes very helpful.
And Herb Fitch gives us something to
grasp onto when he says, "I, in the midst

(21:22):
of the stand and the permanent grace of
the kingdom of God on earth, invisible to
human sense him, but always at hand."
That's the end of that quote. So we can
do something. We can become
this kingdom of heaven on earth.
Yeah, provided we have eyes to see, it's

(21:43):
important to know that we have to develop
the faculty that will enable us to
perceive the Truth. There are things that
we can and we must do in order to induce
this God experience. If we continue to do
exactly what we're doing and hoping for
Jesus to take us in on his demonstration,

(22:06):
then like he says, we will die in our
ignorance, in our sin.
Swami we have a quote here, I believe it's
from Mary Baker Eddy, and it is, "Health
in matter must be given up for health in
God." Let's start a discussion on that.
Yeah, this came from Gilbert Carpenter.

(22:27):
Mary Baker Eddy, Her Spiritual
Footsteps, Chapter 9, and we can't
continue drawing from fear and limitation
and think we can
become Truth and Wholeness.
Whoever realizes Spiritual Oneness
discovers the Life of God is the only

(22:49):
Life. Therefore, I am Divine Life. If
Divine Omnipresence is all there is, who
are you? Who am I? Or like it says in the
Isha Upanishad, "For him who sees
everywhere Oneness, how can
there be delusion or grief?"

(23:11):
We are ignorant to the Truth of being.
Because we are not conscious of this
Divine Omnipresent Principle, we continue
to experience this karmic law.
The law of karma is the Love of God, not

(23:31):
letting us accept this false sense of
existence. It's kind of like the ouch
effect, telling us we're in the wrong
self. "Awaken thou that's sleepest."
Swami let's start with
why health and matter.
To Know the Truth, which makes us free,

(23:53):
we need the Mind of Christ.
As we are told, and I'll read this,
"Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts
and exchanges the objects of
sense for the ideas of Soul.
These ideas are perfectly real and
tangible to Spiritual consciousness,

(24:17):
and they have this advantage over the
objects and thoughts of material sense.
They are good and eternal.
The testimony of the material senses is
neither absolute nor Divine.

(24:38):
I therefore plant myself unreservedly on
the teachings of Jesus,
of his apostles,
of the prophets, and on the testimony of
the Science of Mind. Other foundations
there are none. All other systems--

(25:00):
systems based wholly or partly on
knowledge gained through the material
senses are reeds shaken by the wind, not
houses built on the rock."
End of quote. Science and Health with Key
to the Scriptures, page 269,

(25:21):
14-28. Why health and matter must be
given up is because we can't be conscious
of the Divine
Principle and be in discord.
If we are in discord, sickness,

(25:41):
suffering, disease, lack, limitation,
these are all indicators. We are out of
the Father's consciousness. We're not
conscious of the Divine Truth.
That's why we're saying true
consciousness is true health.
We don't want to get too caught up in

(26:03):
good and bad, but we want to understand
all the good, beautiful, and true
attributes belong to
the Divine Principle.
And you can't be conscious of the Divine
Principle and be
experiencing these problems.

(26:25):
Again, one of the reasons why Jesus would
demonstrate the Allness of the Divine
Principle before he took people into this
level of consciousness.
You couldn't take a sick person into
Divine Truth because, just

(26:46):
like light dispels darkness,
Truth dispels the error,
the false sense of existence.
Swami let's discuss these benefits of being
a faithful witness to the invisible,
intangible, Divine Omnipresence as a
reliable insurance policy.

(27:07):
To accept Spiritual identity, we realize
immortality is its own protection.
When you eliminate mortality,
you eliminate all of the things that lead
to mortality. Sickness, suffering,

(27:27):
disease, lack, limitation, accidents.
None of this is under the jurisdiction of
Divine Law. Divine Law is Perfect, Whole,
complete, everywhere, always.
But we must be conscious of it in order

(27:47):
to activate it in our experience.
But what comes first,
the chicken or the egg?
Man says, "Show, and I will trust." God
says, "Trust, and I will show."
Accepting and living in the knowledge of
the infinite Divine Self takes care of

(28:11):
what seems to be a
finite mortal sense of self.
But again, we must be conscious of this
fact and then prove it. Your belief in
the Divine creation should graduate to
faith where you are now demonstrating

(28:34):
Divine law with scientific certainty.
I like what Mary Baker Eddy wrote, and
I'll paraphrase it. For Jesus
to walk on water was Science.
Until poor humanity walks on water, for
them to step out onto the
Atlantic isn't wisdom or Science.

(28:58):
You want to make sure that you are able
to demonstrate Divine Law before you rely
on it. Otherwise, you are still under the
government of karmic law. What you put
out is what you get back.
