Yameer Adhar, host of Voices In My Head gets inside the head of humanitarian and fitness freak Ashna Chopra. She lives with her husband, two children and my favourite Lucie (a highly qualified goldendoodle) in New York.

Ashna grew up in Delhi and went to the CJM School. She shares her story of how she is a survivor of sexual abuse as a child. She is part of the National Leadership Council for RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) which is the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the USA. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline.

Over the last few years Ashna has run 2 marathons and raised over $20k for Cancer Research and another $20k for RAINN. She volunteers with Charities like NY cares and Make a wish foundation.

Knitwear design is her passion. She currently works for a small sweater start up called Jed (www.jedofficial.com).

The discussion on this episode of the podcast ranges from Sexual abuse, Trauma, #metoo movement to Anger, Child abuse prevention and a whole lot more. Despite her traumatic early years, Ashna has been able to create a beautiful and fulfilling life and is now giving back to society at large. This is highly exemplary to say the least. Speaking to her has helped me get a deep understanding and appreciation for trauma and to find the courage to continue to fight my own demons.
