Speaker 1 (00:03):
What's going on world
.
What's going on world, how wedoing.
How we doing.
Welcome back, welcome back.
Yeah, I see you all back.
I see you all back, let's goAlright.
(00:24):
Alright, cut the music, let'sget it going how we feel,
everybody Alright.
That's what I'm talking about.
So, if you don't know thispodcast, this is a podcast that
brings you weird and funny newsevery single week.
This week is just myself, sowe're going to dive into some
(00:47):
crazy and funny stories, maybesome weird stories.
We'll see what happens.
Let's hit the vault.
Everybody ready?
Alright, let's get into it.
Here we go, alright.
(01:11):
So this week we are diving intosome weirdness.
The first thing on our items aresomething to do with this sound
.
I'm going to play a sound foryou.
Let's see if you recognize it.
Alright, here we go.
A little bit irritating, right?
Everybody knows this sound.
Anything, maybe flies, maybebees If you guess bees, you are
(01:44):
right.
Here we go.
So in our first story, we aretalking about bees.
Now, I don't know if you knowthis, but bees are a big system
to the world.
They help cultivate our food, they help distribute everything
like they are the workers.
They are literally.
I'm telling you, they passaround a positivity.
(02:08):
But today, today was not apositivity.
They were feeling a littlerambunctious, let's put that out
there.
They were feeling a littleambitious, alright.
So, and what I mean by that isour first article has to do with
(02:33):
sports.
So bees cause a buzz and alengthy disruption at Indian
Wells Tennis during Alcora's andZivarev match.
Alright, so during the match.
The picture here from myaudience, if I had to describe
it, is a woman I don't know howsafe this is she's just got a
(02:59):
long sleeve.
Yeah, she's just got a longsleeve on and she's vacuuming
the bees.
I can't tell if that's a yeah,I don't know who that is, but
(03:20):
just vacuuming the bees off thisdevice.
I assume that's the camera.
You know, like the cameras thatthey have on the lines.
Let me see here.
Yeah, it is the camera.
Bees swarm around the camera.
You know, like the cameras thatthey have on the lines, like
during a game, that have what dothey call the cable lines that
(03:46):
go across the arena.
So you know if you're at atennis match or if you're at a
football match or whatever, butyou see those cameras on the
lines that go across the top ofthe field over in the sky.
That's what one of thesecameras is and apparently bees
were swarming around the cameraduring the match.
These pictures are crazy.
There's a ton of I meanprobably hundreds, maybe a
(04:10):
thousand or so bees swarming thecamera and I assume that's why
they had to stop the match.
There's people, there'sliterally people, and let me see
here.
No, I think okay, I called a, Icalled a woman, I think that's
(04:31):
a guy, but there's people likehelping out and getting rid of
the bees and spraying andvacuuming.
I don't know how safe vacuumingis, but they're trying to
vacuum the bees and get them offthis camera.
Let's see what happens.
Indian Wells, california.
A swarm of bees forced a nearlytwo hour disruption two hours
(04:52):
to the quarterfinal matchbetween Carlos Alcarez and
Alexander Zavetarev at the BNPPadre Bis Open on Thursday.
Alcarez swatted at the beesbuzzing around him before
running for cover and the matchwas suspended 19 minutes in,
with Alcarez serving tide at 1-1.
(05:13):
It sounded a little like this.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
And we have the
tennis match.
It is 30.
Oh, we are doing it.
Wait, what is Alcarez doing?
He's swatting at the air.
What's going on?
There seems to be some beesswarming around him.
Oh, he's running.
He's got to run, he's got torun, he's running.
We may have to stop the match.
Folks, I don't know, they'relooking good.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Meanwhile, the
Spaniard went on to win 6-3-6-1.
In less time than the delay ofone hour and 48 minutes, dozens
of bees attached themselves tothe overhead spider camera
that's what they call it thattraverses the court, and a man
without any protective coveringused a vacuum to clean them off.
(06:07):
There you go.
It was a man, my apologies, they had the angle.
They had long hair.
Okay, so the angle.
I couldn't see if it was a man.
All right, don't judge me.
All right, the players left thecourt during the delay.
When they returned, the chairumpire told them there were
still some bees around andZavadov joked that he was fine
(06:30):
to play on his side of the court.
The bee vacuumer was summonedback to the court with a spray
bottle and was cheered wildly bythe crowd.
He posed for selfies with fans, causing Alcarez and Zavadov to
laugh as they watched him wanderthe seat spraying for bees.
That's pretty awesome.
(06:51):
The man also doused the wallsaround the court.
A bee also landed on a player'stowel.
Alcarez expressed ongoingconcern that the bees would
swarm again on his side, but anATP tour advisor encouraged him
to give it a try during thewarmup.
The owner and billionaire, larry Ellison, and former
(07:14):
Microsoft CEO, bill Bill, bill BBe gates, bill Gates, were
watching the match fromEllison's box.
There you go, and the day wassaved.
Give that guy a round ofapplause.
Yeah, yeah, he definitely savedthe day.
(07:35):
Coming in now, no protection atall.
That is brave, because if youknow anything about bees, you
know they swarm really easilyand they sting really easily,
which is why beekeepers have thehive suits, like they have the
full suits, to keep themprotected.
This was not the case.
So anytime you're playing atennis match and there are bees
(07:58):
swarming around, please callthis guy.
All right, here we go.
We're going to move on to ournext story right now.
Now, this next one is aninteresting one, going on the
(08:19):
premise of animals.
We're going to keep with thetopic here.
This is an interesting littletidriff, and they are.
They do have a video on this.
So if you do want to see avideo, there is a video.
This is interesting.
This brings new meaning to theword furry.
(08:42):
Yeah, I don't, I don't like,honestly.
This is interesting.
We are going to check this out.
So here we go.
And in case you don't know whatfurry is, it's somebody who
dresses up as an animal or, youknow, has, like you know, those
mascot type style outfits.
Yeah, so they're just a fan ofdressing up like that, but this
(09:06):
is not the case.
They, there was a reason whythey did this.
This is interesting, all right.
Staff at a Virginia WildlifeCenter pretend to be red foxes
as they care for an orphaned kit.
Now, kit, I am assuming, refersto a young fox.
Yeah, and they do have a videohere.
(09:27):
Let me look at it.
Let me look at it, see what'sgoing on.
No, yeah, yeah, so I'm going tolook at the video here.
Meanwhile, what I can see, yeah, looks like a small baby.
(09:52):
Here they're doing treatment.
Yep, interesting, got it Okay.
So the reason why that they dothis?
Let's dive into this.
Okay, employees of the RichmondWildlife Center in Virginia are
doing their best to act likemother foxes as they feed and
care for an orphaned kid thatfound her way into their care.
(10:14):
Now, let's be honest.
If you woke up as a young babyanimal, you probably would be a
scarred for life if you saw ahuman dressed up as a fox.
The video is literally yeah,it's literally a human dressed
up as a fox to prevent, I assume, imprinting.
(10:39):
And if you don't know whatimprinting is imprinting is as
soon as a baby wakes up if itsees somebody, it immediately
thinks that it's their parents.
Okay, that kind of imprinting.
In a video posted to thecenter's Facebook page Tuesday,
executive director MelissaStanley is shown wearing a red
fox mask and rubber gloves whilefeeding the tiny kit from a
(11:02):
syringe.
The kit sits on top of a largestuffed animal fox that is
supposed to look like her mother, stanley said.
The same Facebook postexplained why staff are wearing
the mask to feed her.
So they got a big fox mask on.
Okay, it's straight out of ahorror movie, but it's for good
(11:23):
reason to feed her.
Minimizing human sounds, creating visual barriers and
taking other precautions it'simportant to make sure that the
orphans that are raised incaptivity do not become
imprinted upon or habituated tohumans.
The post said all thosemeasures make it more likely the
(11:43):
kit could be introduced intothe wild someday.
So, yeah, so the reason whythey do this is so that they
don't imprint, so they canrelease them back into the wild
and they can kind of enjoy lifenot having to go back to the
humans thinking that one of themis their mother.
Stanley said in an interviewTuesday that the kit was
admitted to the center onFebruary 29th, after a man
(12:04):
walking his dog found her in analley in Richmond, thinking she
was a kitten, he turned her overto the Richmond Society for the
prevention of cruelty toanimals.
She was less than 24 hours oldand her umbilical stump was
still attached.
So she was, yeah, she needed tobe rescued and they took care
of her.
So you know, honestly, props tothem for going the extra mile.
(12:29):
I don't know if everybody woulddo that, but this wildlife
center took it upon themselvesto go the extra mile.
I will say the Fox mask ishorrifying, yeah, but it is
definitely necessary, probablyto try to prevent imprinting and
(12:49):
do the best they can to savethis fox.
So there you go.
They saved the baby fox, yeah,so all is well that ends well.
All right, right, so here we go, we're going to along those
lines.
We've got the orphan kit, redfoxes, we got the bees why not
(13:14):
switch a little bit?
And we're going to dive intothe next section of our channel.
Here we go and we're back, andwe're back.
(13:52):
How we doing, how we feeling, here we go.
Let's dive in to the next storythat we've got today.
Um, and this story, this storyhas some interesting things to.
I thought this was interestingbecause I was like, wow, you can
(14:14):
get a felony for this.
This is definitely informative.
So, yeah, we're going to haveto check this out.
Double swiping the rewards card, which I did not know was
possible, led to free gas formonths and a felony theft charge
.
Now see, here's the thing.
(14:34):
I don't know how many gasstations this works on, because
of what I've got.
As far as like rewards cards, Idon't think you can swipe them
twice and even if you do, youdon't get free gas out of it,
(14:57):
necessarily, you get discounts.
So I'm curious about this story.
Let's dive in, all right.
Lincoln, nebraska.
A Nebraska woman allegedlyfound a lucrative quirk at a gas
station pump.
Double swipe the rewards cardand get free gas.
Unfortunately for her, youcan't do that.
(15:17):
Prosecutor said the 45 year oldwoman was arrested March 6 and
faces felony theft charges, accusing her of a crime that
cost the gas station nearly$28,000.
Now, this is just my take on it.
Um, you don't have to agree, you don't have to disagree,
whatever, but it sounds likeagain this sounds like a case of
(15:40):
another person that found a wayto beat the system and they're
just mad, like that's all it is,like they're just jealous that
they beat the system and it'slike how many times Is this
stuff gonna happen to, whereit's like you can't get ahead in
(16:01):
life, cause anytime you getahead the system is gonna fight
back and be like, nope, youcan't do that, but we'll see.
We'll see.
She probably did do somethingillegal, but that's just my take
.
Prosecutors say the womanexploited the system over a
period of several months, whichapparently you can't do.
That Police I don't even knowhow you swipe a card twice.
(16:23):
Police learned of the problemin October when the lost
prevention manager at BosselmanEnterprises reported that the
company's pump and pantry inLincoln had been scammed.
Yeah, I don't know anythingabout that.
We don't have that out here.
That's probably why it's notpossible out here.
Like when you go to the pump orthe gas station or whatever.
(16:45):
When I go to swipe rewards card, you cannot put in that thing
twice.
It doesn't work.
Like it's not like swipe ittwice and you get double the
points.
Like that doesn't work out here.
So it would be impossible forus to do this anyway.
Fuel pumps at the stationreceived a software update in
November 2022 that managed, among other things reward cards
(17:08):
but the company was unaware of aglitch.
Now see, that's not the woman'sfault, that's your fault.
This is where I disagree withsociety.
They have no right to arrestthat woman when that's clearly
their fault.
They had no idea about theglitch.
They pay like hundreds andthousands of dollars for these
(17:30):
guys to program all thesesoftware systems.
And if you're unaware of aglitch, I'm sorry, I don't care
how much money you lost.
That's on you, that's not onthe person that exploited the
system.
That's on you.
But the company was unaware ofa glitch that allowed anyone
swiping a rewards card twice toput a gas pump into
(17:53):
demonstration mode.
In demo mode, the user couldpump a gas at no cost.
Pump a gas, pump gas and no.
Again, that's their fault.
Sorry, I would fight back onthis.
Me personally, me personally.
I'm not saying this is right.
I'm not saying you shouldexploit any kind of system.
That's not what I'm saying.
(18:14):
I'm saying in this particularincident, it doesn't sound like
the woman's fault, it soundslike it's their fault for not
knowing about the glitch.
And then they just neededsomebody to arrest.
Like how are people gettingaway with this?
Why is society in a right withthis?
Like I don't understand.
A probable cause statement fromprosecutors said the lost
(18:36):
prevention manager determinedthat one particular card had
been used repeatedly to obtainfree gas.
Police were able to trace thecard to the suspect and video
surveillance showed the womanpumping gas on multiple
occasions from November 2022until June 1st when the glitch
was fixed.
The statement said why did youlet her pump gas that long?
(18:58):
Huh, again, this sounds likethe law abusing its power,
because, number one, she shouldhave been allowed to.
They should have immediatelynoticed it.
Like, here's the thing if youhave demo mode or glitch or
anything, usually with thesecomputer systems they are able
(19:20):
to tell immediately.
So why wasn't this broughtforward sooner?
You're telling me that for, let's see, november December,
like November December, january, february, march, april, may for
almost eight months, you didn'tnotice this.
Ah, I'm sorry, this is weak.
(19:40):
They should let that woman go.
Let that woman go.
This is all your problem.
This is how in the world, likeI said, you should be able to
tell immediately if somethinglike this is happening, because
I used to be in that system, Iused to work for those kind of
companies and I know that stufflike that can be detected
(20:02):
immediately, and these guys werenot on the ball, I guess Okay.
Authorities believe the womannot only used the scam to get
free gas, but that she allowedanother woman to use her card
for a fee.
Again, she's just doing whatshe thought could help out.
(20:22):
The probable cause statementsaid the other woman's whole
police that she paid to use thecard for discount and fuel.
Authorities believe the womanpaid Thompson $500 for gas
purchases that should have costabout $700 will be $200
difference.
All toyed, all toyed, all told.
(20:43):
The card was used 510 times, which is way too many times.
They should have known thisfrom the beginning and they
should have caught it right away.
Too many times.
I'm sorry.
This is not her fault.
You need to let that woman go.
This is all on you.
If you are losing tons ofthousands of dollars on a glitch
that your system and your guysdidn't notice, that's on you.
I'm sorry.
(21:04):
It's crazy.
The suspect is free on bond andhas a court here in April 11th.
The phone message was leftTuesday with her attorney.
Well, I hope her attorney isgood and shows that this is the
abuse of the law.
Like, I'm sorry, but if you goand you do that, obviously what
she did wasn't right.
That's not what I'm saying.
But on the flip side of that aswell, this is also their fault
(21:29):
for not noticing the glitch atall, letting the glitch be a
problem and letting the glitchtake place for over eight months
.
That's unacceptable.
You have auditors, you havesoftware engineers, you have
everything you need in corporateto take care of the problem
immediately.
And you would notice thatimmediately, because those gas
(21:49):
stations and those systems I'msorry, they're not from the 90s,
those are updated, everythingis modern.
Now you can't have the excuseof saying, hey, these are old
computers so we didn't notice it.
It's not our fault, no, it isyour fault.
And everything that woman gotaway with, sorry, she should get
(22:10):
off scot-free, in my opinion, because that's her finding a way
around the system that youdidn't catch.
If nothing else, you should payher to go find more glitches
like that.
So maybe she should be an assetto the FBI, to the CIA, to find
(22:30):
more glitches like that and seeif she can pick up any other
gas stations that have thatproblem, cause then you wouldn't
have that problem across thenation.
There you go, problem solved.
Give her a job.
There we go.
What do you think guys?
Give her a job.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what Ithought.
That's what I thought.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
(22:50):
Yeah, that's what I thought.
I mean, if she's that good thatshe can spot these things and
she can find these glitches, whynot Give her a job, like she
shouldn't arrest her.
It's not her fault.
You lost money because youcouldn't tell what the glitch
was.
You didn't pick it out.
I'm sorry, that's not acustomer's fault.
(23:14):
In that case, all right, herewe go.
Moving on to our final story.
I am done ranting, but stufflike that irritates me.
When people are arrested forthings that they are just taken
advantage of because othercompanies have negligence and
they just neglect the problemfor months and months at a time
(23:35):
and then say it's not theirfault.
I'm sorry it is.
You have your own auditors, youhave your own software, you
have everything updated.
You should tell right away whensomething like that happens, it
is your fault.
Moving on, here we go On a muchmore positive note.
(23:57):
We have something very cool.
So we didn't report on thislast time, but a couple months
ago we had a Jersey reveal, ornot a Jersey reveal.
There were rumors of a Jerseyreveal using an action figure,
and if anybody knows.
Has anybody seen the movie 1010?
(24:20):
Yeah, okay.
So if you've seen the movie1010, then you know what the
character, the main character,looks like.
Well, they released an actionfigure, I believe, and this was
a clue to one of their Jerseyreleases and people were
spreading rumors that it couldbe a tribute to the adventures
(24:44):
of 1010.
Okay, today we haveconfirmation Blue Jersey, brown
shorts, white socks Belgium'snew kit, a tribute to the comic
book legend 1010.
And if you want to go see thispicture it's apnewscom slash
oddities there is a picture ofthe new Jersey reveal.
(25:06):
He's standing next to someother people that are dressed up
as the characters of 1010.
And yeah, it's, it's perfect.
It literally looks like thecomic book hero the adventures
of 1010.
If you haven't seen that movie,it is pretty, pretty adorable.
It's a fun movie.
I suggest highly to go see it.
(25:27):
It is cool.
But the whole comic bookcharacter, the soccer jersey, is
modeled right after thecharacter.
So here we go.
If Kevin De Bruin goes back tohis old haircut, he will make a
perfect 1010.
At the soccer Europeanchampionship this summer, the
(25:47):
Belgium football associationunveiled the new home and away
kits for its male and femaleinternationals on Thursday.
The home kit continues with thetraditional red color worn by
the nationals team, whoseplayers are nicknamed the Red
Devils in the red flames.
But the away kit is a tributeto the Belgian cartoonist Her
(26:10):
her day here Her day I don'tknow if I'm pronouncing that
right and the character may thatmade his fame 1010.
The intrepid reporter.
It is composed of a blue jerseywith a white collar, brown
shorts and white socks.
In his action packed adventures, 1010 often wears a blue
(26:30):
sweater over a white collaredshirt, paired with the brown cut
off pants, white socks andbrown shoes.
1010 also had a trademark quiffhaircut.
Over the years, belgium mediahad often pointed to the
resemblance of a Belgianmidfielder, kevin De Bruin, to
1010, particularly particularlywhen the Manchester City star
(26:54):
sported a shorter haircut.
As a big Hold on, hold on, Igot to do this right.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
As a big 1010 fan, I
am delighted that our Red Devils
will be conquering Europe in ajersey based on one of Belgium's
greatest heroes.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Said Piet van der
Reis, the Belgium FA CEO.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Oh, I got to do my oh
.
There we go.
We are thrilled to pay homageto a true global icon.
He not only captured my heartand mind growing up, but that of
so many generations, and thatis exactly what the Red Devils,
but also the Red Flames, aretrying to achieve.
Hopefully, 1010 will give theminspiration to put up great
(27:47):
performances, starting thissummer in Germany.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
The new home jersey,
which features a burgundy shade
of red, will be worn by allBelgian national teams from
March 23rd onwards, when the RedDevils play Ireland as part of
their preparations for Euro 2024.
The men's team will debut theaway kit and a friendly match
against England on March 26th.
(28:17):
So there you go.
We have the official 10-10jersey sported, and the rumors
were true.
Now I gotta say, looking at thecharacter and knowing what the
character came from from themovie, it is literally a perfect
match, and if he did cut hishair he would be almost perfect
(28:39):
for the role.
It's pretty crazy.
And they have people dressed upnext to him as the other
characters.
It's hilarious, oh man.
And then they have the 10-10backdrop.
They were taking a photo withJersey looks real nice.
All the red jerseys the redjerseys are nice too.
Those are nice.
The burgundy you gotta go takea look at this.
(29:01):
If you haven't seen it, gocheck it out.
Pretty cool lineup of jerseys,I gotta say that would
definitely make me want to watchand maybe it'll spark some new
fans in the future.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, thatis all the time we have for
today.
Yeah, I know, I know, I know.
(29:22):
It's been a fun ride.
