There are 87 days left this year—more than 2,000 hours to reset, refocus, and finish strong. This episode is about turning Q4 into a launchpad by simplifying what matters and removing what doesn’t. If you’ve felt scattered or behind, this is your chance to make real progress before the year ends.

Three takeaways:

  • Choose 1–2 meaningful goals and build an anti-goals list to eliminate distractions.
  • Create accountability with small weekly check-ins and a trusted circle.
  • Use nature and gratitude as daily resets to stay steady and clear-headed.

somebody that will benefit fromit.
Let's dig in.
Happy October, my friends.
Crazy to be saying that.
And as of the release date ofthis episode, there will be just

(00:58):
87 days left in 2025.
And that is both short andplenty.
Short in that we both know thatit'll go by quick.
Plenty in that we also can bothbelieve that it is plenty of

(01:18):
opportunity and time to createlasting change for 2026 to
completely upgrade your beingand to show yourself that hey,
we can get more done in a shortamount of time than we believe

(01:39):
possible when we really, reallylock in.
We have, as of today, if you'retuned in on the episode release
date, over 2,000 hours torewrite our story for the year.

(02:08):
As fourth quarter can typicallybe the time where people tend to
move away from their goals, andwe're not too far off from when
people start to research how doI become more focused, how do I
become more disciplined, becausethe new year is here and people

(02:29):
fell off the wagon right aroundthat October, November,
especially December time frame.
So I'm putting this together ashey, even if 2025 hasn't gone
your way yet, or if 2025 hasbeen great, here's how to
capitalize on the rest of theyear.

(02:52):
And I'll also share this kind offrom a perspective of let's just
say you want to have a cleanslate.
It's fourth quarter.
Maybe it's a it's a brand newgame for you mentally.
Here are five things, six thingsrather, put together six things
that we can do to take advantageof the year.
One thing that I'll also shareit for encouragement and to

(03:15):
create a different perspectivearound time.
It's something I've really beenfocused on a lot this year,
around this perspective of timeand this association of wealth
that we have with this time, thanks thanks to a conversation
with Sahil Bloom, the author ofThe Five Types of Wealth, but
also really studying his workpretty heavily throughout the

(03:39):
course of the year.
One thing that stood out earlierthis year that he had mentioned
is that you are one year awayfrom people saying that you got
lucky.
You are one year away frompeople saying that you got lucky
because we've seen this happencountless times, especially on

(04:02):
social media, that there's a bigcreator or there's somebody that
their product blows up, theirbusiness blows up, their podcast
blows up.
And perhaps you may have alsohad this thought, man, that
person, they just got lucky.
The algorithm served them wellthat day.

(04:23):
That's it.
And we can sometimes negate allof the daily investments that
got put in, all of the time, allof the sweat equity, all of the
misses, all of the rejections,everything.
And oftentimes we'll say thatabout the other person because
it just didn't happen to us.

(04:45):
But what that also says is hey, with consistency and very
granular focus, you cancompletely transform your life
in a short period of time.
And I believe 87 days, the lastquarter of the year, you can be

(05:06):
87 days away from people sayingthat you got lucky because
you're going to be coming into2026, just absolutely crushing
it.
So this is intended to againshare how we can take advantage
of the fourth quarter, not falloff the wagon.
And here are six things that wecan do to do so.

(05:28):
The first thing, if especiallyif we're just wiping the board
clean for the rest of the year,I want you to think about one to
three meaningful things, and andI'll even challenge you to go
one max of two, because onething I've learned with goals
and goal setting and buildingsystems is that less actually

(05:52):
equals more.
But one to three, but let's justgo one to two, one to two things
that if you were to be able tosay that they got finished by
December 31st, that man, thatwould feel so good.

(06:12):
So let's think about what areone to two meaningful things
that if we got those done, or ifwe said that we started those
things, or we launched thisthing, whatever the case may be,
one to two meaningful thingsthat if it was December 31st,
2025, and those things wereeither complete, started,

(06:37):
launched, that would make youfeel really good, let's think
about that.
So the question really is whatfew things, if done or launched,
would make me feel proud abouthow I finished 2025.
And what that's gonna do is alsowe're setting up our 2026.

(07:02):
Because by thinking about, okay, here's one to two things that
when we get those things done orlaunched or built or or put out
into the world, not only are wegonna feel awesome about it,
we're gonna have a positiveassociation with the year 2025.
And boom, now 2026, now it'sreally a clean slate if you

(07:22):
approach the years from January1st to December 31st.
We're we're rolling.
We are absolutely rolling.
It's interesting when I launchedmy mastermind group at the
beginning of the year, theunshakable discipline community.
I did a little bit of homeworkon Google searches.

(07:44):
And in January, there's thisexplosion of search volume
around the words goals anddiscipline and habits.
And it stays relatively highuntil about February, kind of
starts dropping down in March.
It's pretty much at sea levelfor the summer, and then now

(08:09):
it's starting to come back andstarting to come back.
And a lot of what I see thatstops people is that they want
to focus on 5, 10, 15, 17things, and then when they
realize, oh, we can't do 5, 10,15, 17 things, they get upset
and they say, Ah, why do we needto wait for 2026 to be the year

(08:31):
when we still have so much of2025 that we can make 2025 the
year?
Now, as I mentioned before, lessequals more, people will write
off a year because they'll thinkthat, oh, these other people,
they must get a thousand thingsdone in the year.
One thing that I continue todiscover through experience and

(08:56):
through a lot of study andhomework on admired brands and
people is that they focus onless and they dive very deep.
I continue to see this theme ofobsession that is almost being a

(09:17):
key to winning.
Like how truly obsessed are youover very few things, if not one
thing.
So that's with especially withlimited amount of days and
hours, there's limited amountthat we should focus on.
The second thing, when we thinkabout our goals, then we often

(09:39):
will think about okay, what do Ineed to do now?
What what are all of the thingswith this one to two meaningful
items?
What are all the things that Ineed to start doing now?
What what subscriptions do Ineed to buy?
What books do I need to buy tolearn?
Who do I need to talk to?
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
And now that also, when we thinkabout the how can create this

(10:03):
analysis paralysis at times, that okay, I found this one
meaningful thing.
Well, now I can think of 17things that I need to do in
order to get there.
And perhaps some of these thingsmay have a lot of sub-items.
Now here's a different way tolook at it.

(10:26):
We can build an anti-goals listthat supports our goals.
Meaning, let's just take asimple example.
Let's just say for these last 87days of the year that you want
to get in a consistent exerciseroutine.
Now, one may start runningthrough this inventory.

(10:48):
I've got to buy a gymmembership, I've got to buy
shoes, I've got to wake up, I'vegot to buy blue light therapy,
I've got to buy a red lightglasses, I've got to buy the
cold plunge, I've got tosubscribe to factor meal
subscription services, I've gotto buy AG1, boom, boom, boom.
Then we get so overwhelmed we donothing.
Versus, hey, I want to lose 25pounds before the end of the

(11:11):
year.
What do I need to stop doing?
What's an anti-goal that I canmake around this big meaningful
thing that I would love to do toaccomplish by the end of the
year?
Oh, okay, I can I'm going tostop buying DoorDash at nine

(11:34):
o'clock to ten o'clock p.m.
four days a week because that issomething that doesn't support.
I'm going to stop buying food atwork.
Okay, because now we can mealprep.
So oftentimes, instead ofthinking about adding, again,

(11:56):
less is more, what do we need tosubtract?
And that's another thing thatI've found in some of these big
players, these big time players, these big names, these big
companies.
It's not so much of here's whatto do, it's what do we need to
not do?

(12:17):
Or what are we doing now that isnot in support of our best
selves, our ultimate vision?
What is it that pulls you awayfrom these things?
What habits, people, ordistractions pull you off track?
What commitments could you letgo of that don't serve you

(12:40):
anymore?
What drains your energy that ifyou no longer did that thing,
then you could have more energyto show up positively for XYZ or
be more engaged with importantpeople in your life.
So think about an anti-goalslist or an anti-to-do list as it

(13:04):
relates to that one to twothings.
I actually started doing thisrecently.
What do I need to stop doing?
Another thing that you canassociate this with, that I do
more at the beginning of theyear, is a start, stop, cons
continue list.
And you can make those verygranular to every single goal in

(13:25):
your book, but I like to thinkabout it more of if I'm just
looking, if you're just lookingat yourself as a third person
and all the things that you doin a normal day, what are
positively associated with yourgoals or moving you forward?
Let's continue those things.
What are things that we know aregood, but we're not doing them

(13:46):
yet?
All right, let's start those.
What are things that we know arebad that aren't moving us
forward?
Boom, stop those.
So start, stop, continue.
That's another question to ask.
It's just what can I start, stop, and continue?
Or anti-to-do, anti-goals list.
Number three, find your growthcircle.

(14:08):
A lot of what I present here toyou all are things that you've
heard before.
And just like most personaldevelopment podcasts and books,
they're not sharing newinformation, but it's perhaps
packaged in different ways thatmaybe it lands when it's
packaged this way, maybe it'sdoesn't land so much when it's
packaged this way.

(14:28):
Maybe you like one entree whenit's got this sauce, but it
doesn't register with your tastebuds when it has that sauce.
But find your growth circle.
So what you've heard before isthat you become the five people
that you spend the most timewith.
Make sure that you have a smallgroup of friends who are deeply

(14:52):
invested in personal growth, just like you are, and let them
know what you're going after.
It's so important that at leastone person or a small group of
people are aware of what youwant to accomplish.
With these one to two things, ifI were starting new and writing

(15:13):
out that one to two things Iwant to get done before before
the end of the year, and thenI've identified what I'm going
to stop doing, I'm also going tomake sure that there are people
that are aware of this one totwo things so that they can help
push me.
It helps me keep myself moreaccountable because studies show
that when we publicly share ourgoals and it doesn't need to be

(15:36):
on a big social media post, butbasically when we make other
people aware of our goals, we're70% more likely to achieve them.
And they need to be written, bythe way.
I say that so much that I feellike people should know that,
but they need to be written.
But that's now we're we wecreate this ecosystem of hey, I

(15:56):
know what you're going after, you know what I'm going after.
We can hold each otheraccountable, we can find each
other resources, we cancelebrate our wins and progress
and keep moving forward.
Number four, on the same note ofpeople, build deeper connections
and use these, use this time tobuild community.

(16:20):
One thing that I hold absolutelysacred in my week are is the
Tuesday speed group and everyother Saturday Washed Up Coffee
Club.
So bunch of people on Tuesdaymornings, 5 a.m.
that are absolutely gettingafter it.

(16:43):
Whether we're running lapsaround a park or running laps
around a track, these are peoplethat are going back to even the
last point, they're deeplyinvested in growth and
themselves and giving back inthe community and doing amazing
things.
But this is also such a greattime before the end of the year

(17:05):
that you've got at least threeto five people that can be there
for you that speak your samelanguage.
Great way to find them.
Whatever activity it is that youlove, see if there's a group of
people that are already doingit.
If you love running, come out toHampton Park on Tuesday morning
in Charleston, South Carolina atfive o'clock a.m.

(17:29):
And you will find a bunch ofpeople that not only love
running, but that are, again, very, very invested in each
other and growth, and great wayto find three to five friends
just in that group right there.
There's actually a lot ofresearch that shows that having
just three to five close friendscan drastically increase your

(17:54):
sense of belonging and overallhappiness.
There's a Harvard study thatstates close friendships can add
up to ten years to your lifeexpectancy.
So just as people and things candrain you, the right people can
inject additional life into you.

(18:17):
Number five, get outside more.
Get outside more.
One thing that I'll say I'vebecome more awake to is nature
and being, like literally justbeing and allowing myself to see

(18:44):
the surroundings, see the thingsthat you normally wouldn't
notice, even the bird that mayalways be on your one particular
branch on your one particulartree that you've never noticed
it because you're so focused inthe hustle and bustle and
looking at your phone and makingsure that you didn't forget your
lunch and grabbing your backpackand all and your keys are

(19:06):
falling out and the dogs barkingand all these things that you
don't notice.
That there's this beautiful birdthat is always out there just to
say hey to you.
I had a woman on my show towardsthe end of last year, Patricia
Rust, who former GrammyAward-winning actor and now uh

(19:30):
children's author, but was in astage four battle cancer stage
four.
And I asked her, Patricia, withwhat you are facing now and what
you've learned about life, whatwould you tell somebody that
doesn't have your conditionabout how they can live their

(19:54):
life or what they should do?
And she said this so beautifullywith her sweet voice, and
Patricia for context is uh nowher at the time was uh elderly,
sweet, probably five foot, ahundred-pound woman blonde hair,

(20:18):
and so you think about perhapsyou know your your your
grandmother that would wouldgive you wisdom or just uh an
old woman that is special toyou.
So this is the answer she gave.
She said, Ryan, I would tellthem to sit in the park and

(20:38):
watch the squirrels play for afew minutes.
Go buy the ice cream, sit on thebench, listen to the sounds, and
just be.
And for most of us, especiallyin in Western cultures that are
used to moving so fast, that mayseem like a daunting task, and

(21:03):
that we don't have the time forthat.
But I'll say that I feel likethat's been a big unlock for me
this year in 2025, and somethingthat I wish it or rather if I
knew or if I was gonna do onenew thing, this is like probably

(21:24):
one of the the one thing, thisis the one thing that I would
that I would want to be told forthe first time if I if I wasn't
already doing this for the restof the year.
It has brought so much peace.
I was just recently in theupstate and taking the dog for a
walk and I just sat there for amoment and stood and listened to

(21:49):
the trees swaying and thecrickets chirping.
Uh, nature slows you down, ithelps put into perspective what
actually matters, and sciencebacks this up too.
Studies show that just spending20 minutes outside can
significantly reduce your stressand lower cortisol levels.

(22:09):
So as we're going into the endof the year, take a step
outside, breathe, and be still.
It's a skill that you candevelop.
The last one is practicinggratitude.
And perhaps this even fits inwith the last one of get outside

(22:30):
more, because that's an awesometime to practice gratitude, but
practice gratitude deeply andoften.
I just listened to Lewis Howe'smost recent, one of his most
recent podcast episodes, SixMorning Habits to Manifest the
Financial Life You Desire.
And he was talking about whatare the six things that he does

(22:53):
every morning that has reallyserved as major unlocks to
creating this dream life.
And one of the things he keptharping on was gratitude.
And again, nothing that wehaven't heard before, but when
you hear it from people that weadmire and talk about the most,

(23:15):
I would use that as a biggestgreen flag or green light in
your life.
Hey, you should we shouldprobably do that thing too.
So we know it's we know it'simportant, but studies show that
people who practice dailygratitude report 25% higher

(23:37):
happiness levels and sleepbetter and make better decisions
and experience less stress thanthose who don't.
People who practice dailygratitude report 25% higher
happiness levels and sleepbetter, make better decisions,
and experience less stress.
All for how much of your time?

(23:58):
Just a few seconds.
So you can start practicing thisliterally right now.
And it's my wish that you'rethinking about something or
expressing gratitude forsomething that is meaningful or
something that you're aroundright now.
It could even be if you're ifyou're listening to this on the
drive, I'm grateful for thiscar.

(24:20):
If you're listening to this on arun or on a walk, I'm grateful
to move this body.
I'm grateful to have this bodythat that can be challenged and
moved and to sweat.
Uh running for me is reallywhere I do my gratitude
practice.
I'll be running and literallyjust take a few seconds and open
my arms wide, completely spreadthem out, and just start saying,

(24:43):
hey, I'm so grateful for thisday.
I'm so grateful.
Thank you so much.
I'm so grateful for this life.
I'm so grateful for theopportunities.
I'm so grateful for everythingthat life brings, both good and
not so good, because the not sogood brings growth, therefore,
all is good.

(25:04):
Thank you so much.
I'm so grateful.
And that's what we can do totake advantage of these next 87
days.
Again, 2,000 hours.
We can completely rewrite ourstory, or we can keep tacking on
to a great story that we've beenwriting so far this year.

(25:24):
Pick one to two meaningfulthings for you that by the end
of the year, if those thingswere done, launch started, you'd
be like, Yeah, heck yeah.
Go me.
Then we're gonna decide what dowe need to stop doing so that we
can actually be freaking pumpedon December 31st.

(25:45):
We're gonna find our people, getoutside, and live in gratitude.
Because here's the truth, folks.
The rest of the year isn't aboutplaying catch up, it's about
showing up.
And 87 days is more than enoughtime to upgrade everything about

(26:10):
your current state of being nowto keep the momentum rolling, or
if you're starting fresh andthis is your invitation to wipe
the board clean, and you knowwhat, we're gonna make these 87
days the best so that the 365coming in 2026 is better than
any year that's preceded thisone.
Great.
I'm rooting for you, I'm withya.

(26:32):
We're 87 days away from peoplesaying that hey, we got lucky.
It doesn't need to be a year, itcould be 87 days.
Go do the little things.
It doesn't have to be thisgrandiose plan or a thousand
little mini things.
A few things can change thecourse of your life and help you

(26:55):
win today.
