So, umber, how we doing.
It's hour two of the show.
(01:06):
Here we're fast, we're off andrunning here tonight.
How we doing.
Packers struggled but we'regoing to get to that.
How are you doing on thisWednesday?
How's the week going so far?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Week has been crazy,
man.
Week has been tough.
Work has been absolutely busy,so I've just been dealing with
that and then, just you know, alot of stuff going on, Just
trying to keep my head abovewater as best I can and
utilizing football Packers, football fantasy and just all
this other stuff to keep mypositive spirits up.
Man, it's been a crazy week, tosay the least.
(01:37):
Man, how are you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Great and you know,
that's the beauty of sports.
That is the beauty of sports.
At the end of the day, it's thegetaway, right, and that's why
I hate when everything has tocrash into it.
I just want sports to be mygetaway from everything else in
the world.
I just want to watch guys gobetween the lines or in the
diamond, whatever it is, andjust play the game.
I agree 100%.
That's the greatest part aboutsports there.
(02:00):
It's that getaway, the getawayfrom the real world for just a
little bit, where we can pretendlike we know what we're talking
about.
In all reality we probablydon't.
So we want to get into thepackers here, our number two.
We want to get to the packershere and kind of just what we
saw last week it wasn't, wasn'texactly the outcome that we were
(02:20):
oh man, yeah, it wasn't reallythe outcome.
But okay, there's bads andthere's goods.
There's goods that we can takeaway from this game.
There's some bads that we cantake away from this game.
Yeah, let's just, we're gonnarip the band-aid off.
Let's start with the bad.
Let's just start with the bad.
Okay, let's just start with the, the special teams once again,
(02:41):
because my favorite thing was,if you listen to and I I wasn't
watching a TV.
I was out and about on a Sundaythere so I wasn't able to watch
the game on.
So I I was able to watch itafter the fact, but it wasn't
able to watch it live.
I listened to Wayne layer V onthe radio and listen to the
Packer network there and theywere talking after the first
field goal that they made andthey said and they said, man,
(03:07):
they got by there and they'reclose to breaking that, they're
overloading that side.
They're close to breaking thatand they kind of foreshadowed it
and they and then flash forwardto the end of the game and they
said you gotta watch that sideagain, you gotta watch that side
.
Yeah, yeah, once again.
And and this has been a problemspecial teams have been a
problem.
Penalties doesn't matter whatit is.
There's been problems on thespecial team side of the
(03:28):
football.
Rich, rich passaccia, who issupposed to be the assistant
head coach help oversee thingswith matt lafleur is the special
teams coordinator, is thespecial teams coach and since he
has been in green bay, thespecial teams have not gotten
better.
They have a good kicker and agood punter.
They do.
They have a great kicker and agreat punter.
(03:49):
Outside of that, there isn't alot to write home about special
teams and I think peopleoverlook the special teams.
So I guess, umber, that's whereI kind of want to start.
There's a lot of things to diveinto with this Packer game, but
just the special teams.
Let's just start there.
Do you believe that it's, Imean, heading in the right?
I don't know if you could sayheading in the right direction,
but do you believe RichPassaccia is the guy to lead
(04:10):
this special teams unit?
Because it's been like this.
It hasn't fixed, it hasn'tchanged.
It seems like there's alwaysproblems with the special teams.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Honestly, I've been
on the wagon to fire Rich
Passaccia after his first yearTo.
I've been on the wagon to fireRich Pisaccia after his first
year To me.
We have not seen improvement inthat area.
It's like you know, ron Zook, maurice Drayton and Sean Meninga
and heck, we can even talkabout I think Sean Sokol was one
(04:42):
of the bottom tier special team.
Special team, we fence people inthe league.
We're in Rick Gosling'srankings.
We're in the bottom tier.
Every time we're in the low 20s, almost low 30s.
It's terrible and I'm sorry,like there's no.
There's like no creativity, like I'm thinking like if you
(05:08):
know that they're overloading onthe left side and they're
pushing really hard on the leftside, it means that they're
probably going to have as manypeople on the right side Call a
fake Like I've never seen themtake advantage of situations of
calling fakes trying to get thejust do something different,
because Rich Passaccia is an oldcoach with no new ideas.
Our special teams has beenbottom tier and I just am not
(05:31):
seeing.
The only reason why our specialteams was even decent last year
and starting to be decent, likein an area of saying like when
it comes to production isbecause of Whelan and McManus.
Mcmanus, you know, startedclosed the season pretty strong
last year and then this yearalready has two missed kicks.
One was blocked, but even then, though, like he had missed a
kick in Lambeau on a beautifulSunday afternoon, as well as on
(05:55):
a Thursday afternoon too, like,I'm sorry, on Thursday evening.
There's no excuse for any ofthis, and I'm just trying to
understand, like, like, at whatpoint does the mediocrity just
get?
Get over it.
Like I'm there's even as aassistant head coach is reason
is also his title.
He's not providing anythingfrom a perspective of game
management, time management,anything like.
(06:18):
It is sad that wayne larry v,who is the goat of goats in
radio, could see something fromhis booth, from the press box,
but you have Rich Passaccia andtwo assistants on the sideline
who do not see what we're seeingas fans as well as people in
the press box.
(06:39):
There has to be a point in timewhere you just cut the weight.
You're not getting anything ofbenefit from this dude they
should have.
At the moment that Darren Rizzigot fired from the Saints, when
they cleaned house, they shouldhave dropped every single cent
they had and bring in a man inStanley Chicago.
They should have fired Rich andbrought him in.
Other than him being arecruiter for Nixon Jacobs and
(07:02):
Hobbs minus that, I don't seeany benefit for him because of
the fact that Brandon Maness wasa good kicker before he even
got here.
He was a good kicker in Denver.
He was a pretty decent kickerin Jacksonville before all the
issues occurred, and then, whenit comes to Whelan, you can
maybe credit him for Whelan.
Other than that, though, honestly, there's nothing that
he does that he provides thatmakes me feel like, yeah, this
is a great special teams.
(07:22):
And then his press conferencesare terrible.
He has no answers.
He's an angry man that doesn'twant to answer anything and
wants to be offended byeverything that's asked of him.
He has no answers.
And just to let you guys know,I'm very worked up about this
because I've been asking.
He is my next man up because hewas best friends with Joe Barry
and I can see why I've beenwanting out now for a while and
(07:47):
when we get to it I'm going tomention it, but right now I know
I'm on the radio and I hope theguy he's listening to is he is
a good man in the sense of beinga good heart, a good person.
The things that he talks aboutabout other people out in the
world and stuff like that as acoach sucks.
Maybe he should be a head coachsomewhere, because John
Harbaugh was like.
John Harbaugh was a specialteams coach.
He became a Super Bowl winningcoach, right.
(08:09):
Maybe he needs to go do that.
Maybe he needs to go because hewas a decent head coach when he
was at Raiders.
He probably should have gotthat job.
But as special teams, no, hehasn't produced above average or
even average special teams inthe last 15 years.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah, I mean average
special teams in the last 15
years.
Yeah, I mean couldn't, couldn't, couldn't have said it any
better myself.
That was, that was a good rantthere and I couldn't agree more.
I mean it's, the proof is there.
You wait for year after year Imean we're talking badgers
before they were about lukefickle and how many years do you
wait?
How many years do you wait forit to get better?
He's like you said.
I mean we're not, it's, you'renot firing the person.
(08:45):
You think he's a great guy.
He's probably great in thelocker room, maybe he's great
with the players, everythinglike that.
He recruits guys into, you know, green bay, everything like
that.
He's.
He's great in that aspect.
But when you give himresponsibility of setting up the
special teams.
It just hasn't been there.
It hasn't gotten better.
And the same problems in the,the blocked field goal there, I
mean, and that's where I want toget to next.
So let's get off of the specialteams.
(09:07):
Let's look at this is a littlebit better and you know, fans
are still kind of jordan love.
Let's look at his.
You know what he had going onin this game 18 for 25, a
touchdown, a pick, the pick,massive.
Now, here's what I'm gonna say.
They were in a man coverage, they were in a man coverage and
that guy I can't remember whohad the pick, it's gonna, it's
(09:28):
gonna baffle me here.
I don't have the exact name upin front of me grant delpet had
the pick and he dropped off acoverage.
He was on craft.
He dropped off a coverage offcraft.
Love didn't see that and it washard to see.
You weren't going to see it.
Now, was it that?
It was in design, was it?
(09:49):
He's just read the ball that.
Well, I don't know what it was.
I don't know what led Delpit todrop off a craft like he did,
but the way that the pocket wascollapsing and everything like
that, jordan love had to get ridof the ball fast.
So that's where he got rid ofit, and if no pit doesn't drop
off, he's got his guy.
But the problem was he didn't,he didn't, he didn't see him, he
(10:10):
didn't see him there, so thenit just led to issue right, so
it's again rearing its ugly headof ken jordan love.
Is he the guy?
Can he be the guy?
We got that answer, in myopinion, on the next drive.
He led the Packers down thefield and this was after the
Browns scored.
He led them down the field.
He set them up with arelatively easy field goal to
(10:34):
win yeah, 100% Very makeable.
Yes, they just let him down.
So, yes, I will agree witheverybody who says did Jordan
Love play his greatest of games?
Probably not, but under thecircumstances, the way that the
offensive line was manhandled.
Will agree with everybody whosays did Jordan Love play his
greatest of games?
Probably not, but under thecircumstances, the way that the
offensive line was manhandled inthis game, the way that Matt
LaFleur, I thought, drew up aterrible game plan in this game,
the way that everything wasagainst this team, I thought
(10:56):
Jordan Love did not play bad.
Did he play great?
No, but did he play terrible?
I don't think so.
And the way that fans are tryingto throw this like perspective
out on it, saying that oh, he'snot good and you got to drop him
and he's never going to be thisand he's never going to be that
.
He, you're right, he's nevergoing to be aaron rogers because
he's not.
He's going to be jordan love.
What capacity, what?
(11:17):
What he gets to where hisceiling is?
We haven't seen it yet.
We haven't got over the thesilliness yet, but I think they
will eventually.
But, going into this game, Ithink there's a lot of
intangibles that went in theopposite favor.
So I guess I'm looking at thejordan love performance in this
game, a lot of fans dislike whatthey saw.
(11:37):
I'm on the boat of.
It's like he had one bad, onebad throw and I he dropped off a
coverage.
It was.
If you re-watch it, it was likehe dropped off a coverage off a
craft.
It was a weird play that.
I don't know if del pit wassupposed to be there or not, but
he was and it just outworkedout.
So I guess what are yourthoughts on the jordan love
performance in this one?
Speaker 2 (11:57):
I think that whole
play was doomed to fail from the
get-go.
Like I feel, like you know,it's been a lot of situations,
situations where they've hadthat situation in the last game
too where they just ran it threetimes and punted it right and
honestly, that would probably bethe best decision because your
defense was playing lights outand, honestly, throwing, like if
you saw a play drop, it wasjust all slants.
It was like slants everywhere, right, and my thing was, like
(12:20):
you know, wicks was the guy thatwas kind of like his go-to dude
.
You know, with Reed being out,you could probably say Wicks was
his number one.
So maybe Delpit was kind ofthinking that way.
I feel like it was a bad throw,it was a bad route Because even
if, say, delpit wasn't there, that ball wasn't going to get to
Wicks Like it looked like.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
It was like.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
It was low, I think
him, and hesitated.
I I don't know.
I think he, I think he was likehe.
He went back delper was readinghis eyes the whole time so he
saw that jordan was just staringdown wicks.
He didn't even try to look himoff and so when he saw that he
tried to throw it.
And then he tried to.
Probably maybe I couldn't,couldn't tell from the game tape
(12:56):
, but if he was trying to likemaybe take it back, but it was
too late because it wasn'tenough.
It wasn't even enough on it toget to Wicks for where Wicks was
.
So that means either A he didhesitate and that caused the
ball to be even lower.
B Wicks ran the wrong route.
Maybe he was supposed to run aslant and then stop on the first
down marker, like as a curlroute instead of a slant.
Or C it was a done play fromthe get-go, and even LaFleur
(13:19):
said that as much.
Lafleur did take the hit forthe whole thing.
Again, it was one of thosethings where I think a whole
bunch of other people, a wholebunch of bloggers, have said
this that jim schwartz just hasthe floor's number.
He's had his number everysingle.
I think he's like, oh and threeagainst shorts.
He just shorts just knows howto game because even though the
floor's game plan, his playcolumn, was kind of like all it
was kind of erratic because hedidn't really like try to
(13:40):
develop plays off, plays informations.
He was trying to see whateverwould work and, honestly, with
the offensive line havingprobably one of its poorest
performances ever as a green baypacker team across the board, I
mean I agree it was a bad pass.
It got them into scoringdistance.
They basically had to like notonly did they, they needed
(14:05):
penalties.
Even though they got there, they needed penalties to be able
to punch it in and score.
The fact of the matter is thatJordan did get them back into.
If he was, I'll say this, if hethrew that pick, then he came
back and went three and out anddidn't get him in scoring
distance.
I think everybody could be like, yeah, jordan isn't clutch,
he's not the guy, whatever youwant to say, right, but the fact
of the guy, whatever you wantto say right, but the fact
(14:26):
matters, you're 100 right, hegot them into scoring distance.
He did his job.
Honestly, at that point I wouldhave been even more aggressive,
I probably would have, evenjust I would just, I would have,
instead of, like you know, because josh jacobs fumbled it
and almost lost the ball rightthere too right, it's like
nobody I don't think anybodyplayed their best game in that
game, minus maybe a block bySavion where he basically
(14:48):
de-cleated a corner and thenmaybe, like Rashawn, gary,
having two sacks.
But the truth of the matter isJordan did his job.
Again, special teams failed him.
It's a story that us, as Packerfans, have been unfortunately
too familiar with, and this goesback to the second coach that I
wanted fired for the last threeyears, and that's Luke Buckus.
I think Luke Buckus is an op,he's a fricking bears.
(15:09):
You know alumni, because hisdad was a former bear, dick
Buckus.
And all I'm saying is like I'vejust I know we've seen
development on the offensiveline, but I have yet to like,
honestly, our run blocking hasbeen terrible.
It was terrible last year, it'sterrible this year.
Uh, and the decision making bythe coaching staff to and I said
this in one of my posts whereit's like okay, you have jordan
(15:29):
morgan, who's been playing leftguard and left tackle all of
training camp.
He's never once played righttackle.
You brought in canard to playright tackle on a pinch, who
played pretty well when tom gothurt, you know when he came in
for tom for a little bit.
And then you had belton, whoplayed pretty well when tom got
hurt, but instead you decide togo with morgan or right tackle
when he's never played thatposition.
The decision making by thiscoaching staff drives me crazy.
(15:52):
It doesn't make any sense.
Like why put a guy out therewho's been playing left side for
all his career as an nfl playerand as a college player?
You put him on a side where hehasn't even practiced?
Like what was the point of that?
It's like they were just tryingto lose the game.
Like I don't understand thethought process there.
Like you have belton, whoplayed a right tackle and did
decent, you had canard, who youbrought in with a six-round pick
(16:13):
, who did decent against detroit.
I mean you have options therewhether you throw in a guy there
who never plays a position andall you're doing is just
stunting his growth again.
Whoever had made that decisionshould be gone, because we've
seen that happen time and timeagain now.
We saw it in other playoffgames when they started Billy
Turner on one leg instead ofstarting Yash against the Niners
.
We've seen it with otherdecisions on the offensive line
(16:35):
that just don't make any sensewhatsoever Cross-training these
guys and just continuallyrotating them out and rotating
them in to get them snaps.
This isn't like college andthis isn't preseason.
We're in NFL now.
I'm sorry.
We're in a regular season.
We need to start making betterdecisions.
That was just dumb to me.
I'm with you.
The team, the defense, is theonly bright spot, even though
(16:56):
they might have given up 10points or whatever, but they did
their job.
If your defense gives up 10points, you should win every
single game.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Yeah, no, I can
completely see that and I was
just re-watching thatinterception there by Jordan
Love throwing that and the waythat it was set up.
It was man-to-man to start itand then we saw him drop off
there and drop onto Wix in acoverage and then he had help
come over the top which actuallytook care of Kraft then.
So they disguised it.
They disguised it well thereand he ended up just helping
(17:25):
down just enough, got into theright spot at the right time
interception and we saw the restof it there.
Were the pass gone there, thoughyou think I don't think it was,
the more I look at it.
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
I really don't think
it just looks like a bad throw.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
It looks like a bad
throw, jordan.
I really don't think it justlooks like a bad throw.
It looks like a bad throw.
Jordan Love had pressure in hisface.
There was a bad throw.
It was just all around bad.
It was just all around bad.
There.
I would agree with that 100%.
I think the coverage confusedthem.
I think he threw one lasthurrah.
Play at them the triple slam.
He kind of like they knew whatwas coming.
Like you said before, they kindof knew it.
(18:04):
And they play at him the triplesign.
He kind of like they knew whatwas coming.
Like you said before, therethey kind of knew it and they
just jumped it.
They jumped out and they jumpedwicks and we saw it there once
again and, like you said, it wasjust, uh, an issue.
And we're going to talk about amatt lafleur quote when we come
back here.
We got a matt lafleur quote, what he had to say in the press
conference.
We're going to jump onto thatand then we're going to look
ahead.
We're going to look ahead towhat the Packers have coming up
here.
We'll be right back here onWisconsin Sports on the go with
(18:25):
Trage.
Welcome back into WisconsinSports on the go with Trage.
I'm your host, trage, as wecome back here on this Wednesday
.
And hey, this next segment hereis brought to you by B&H
Concrete Lifting.
Winter is right around thecorner.
Right now we're in the fall, but we know Mother Nature likes
to turn on us fast.
Then the white stuff startsfalling from the sky and it's
just terrible.
Right, it's just terrible.
(18:46):
Well, you know your sidewalks, your driveways.
They become hazards in thewinter.
We all know it.
You got a little bit of a dip inthere.
You're shoveling along.
You got the snow shovel infront of you.
You hit that little dip.
Ouch, ouch.
I've done it before there.
You get it right to the gut, maybe to the midsection.
There You're on the groundcrying.
It's never a good day.
Call our friends down there atB&H Concrete Lifting.
(19:07):
They will come outno-transcript For the price of
new concrete these days.
Call these guys first.
Call B&H Concrete Lifting.
They do fantastic work.
They'll level it out like brandnew.
It'll be great.
I promise you Check them outacross Facebook there.
I love to share their posts outthere because some of the work
(19:28):
that they do is like wow, Justwow.
So call them there.
Give you a complimentaryestimate.
It's that easy.
715-897-6790 bnh concretelifting there.
So, ummer, we went to the break.
We were talking packers.
They're kind of just ventingright our discretions over this,
uh, past week.
There I want to talk about amatt lafleur quote that I
(19:49):
couldn't agree with anymore.
Yeah, he came out and he wastalking to the press conference
and we saw, we kind of talkedabout it actually last week.
It kind of made me, it remindedme of last week because we
talked about Rashid Walker andhis comments of saying,
basically, like this team couldgo undefeated I believe we can
go undefeated and Matt LaFleurcame out after this game and
said I've said it a milliontimes to you guys, to the media
(20:11):
he's talking to the media here,but I don't think obviously I've
said it enough to our team thegoal is to go 1-0 every week.
It irritates me he used anotherword there, but I'm not going to
use it it irritates me when westart talking about things
outside of the next game, thingsthat are done down the road.
Focus on, keep the focus on thepresent, on the now, and worry
(20:32):
about getting better each andevery day.
He didn't mention RasheedWalkerer, but he's like yeah, we
saw the quote from rashidwalker.
We know this is pointing inthat direction there.
I absolutely love that quotebecause this is I'm gonna point
this to the lions.
Okay, I'm just gonna point thisto lions for a second.
(20:52):
The lions lost to the packersweek one and a lot of people
were skeptical of this lion'steam.
The last two weeks they havetrounced their opponents and I
get, it was the bears, but theyjust went to baltimore and just
shellacked baltimore in theirplace.
(21:13):
Now I'm not saying that they'rethe greatest team in the world
or anything like that, but whatthey did was they showed, we
refocused, we got ourselves backinto it, we took care of, we
went to a a great opponent'splace and we took care of.
Yeah, and that is the mentalitythat I think matt lafleur is
(21:33):
trying to, you know, instill inhis team.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, the questionis is the message getting across
?
That's the question, and italso comes down to then, in my
opinion, leadership in thatlocker room, because it can't
always just be Matt LaFleur.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
No.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Now it's got to be.
What does Micah Parsons say?
What does Jordan Love say?
How do those guys, your leadersin that locker room, your
captains right, I don't know ifthey're there who's the captain
of that team?
I'm blanking on it off the topof my head right now, but your
guys, your leaders, josh Jacobs, all them guys walking in there
and saying this is how it's gotto be.
We all got to focus.
It starts now.
(22:08):
It starts now in practice.
It doesn't start on Sunday, itstarts now in practice.
Now in practice, it's one onTuesday, wednesday, thursday.
That's when it's one.
It's not one on Sunday, it'sone in the practice.
It's one now focusing on thepresent, getting better every
day.
And I think what Matt LaFleur issaying is, basically, this team
likes to look past opponents, yeah, and not take opponents
(22:36):
seriously.
And that's what it's.
And I'm going to hold MattLaFleur to that same credit,
because I don't think he drew upa very good game plan for this
one.
I don't.
I don't think he had a goodgame plan going into it, and
it's hard for an offense to getgoing when your game plan isn't
there.
And you have to, and I get, youhave the game plan for having
miles garrett in and milesgarrett out, but you got to be
able to still do things with thefootball in either situation.
(22:57):
And he's like flipping throughan entire playbook, like we can
only run this one milesGarrett's out.
We can only run this one milesGarrett's in.
It's like, okay, well, let'sfind out what works when he's in
there, because we have to justpretty much game plan for him to
be there.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
They call it time
when he was out how many
timeouts did?
Speaker 1 (23:19):
have burned the
penalties in this game,
everything in between, this teamresorted back to old packer
football.
Yeah, the things that wethought were gone are back.
Yep, and the question is nowand this is where I love this
quote by matt lafleur what isthis next week show?
Speaker 2 (23:28):
yeah, how does this?
Speaker 1 (23:30):
how do they respond
to the adversity?
That's my question.
So our thoughts on this quotefrom matt lafleur and just kind
of the moving forward portionhere for the Green Bay Packers I
think LaFleur is very much makethe main thing, the main thing.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
I feel like he's all
about living in the present,
living in the now, because ifyou think too far ahead or too
far behind, you're going toalways be in one of those
situations.
I think you know, havingconfidence like Sheed Walker had
, hey, that's great.
I want you to be confident.
Be confident.
You can't have that kind ofstatement, that kind of
confidence, then come out andhave one of the worst offensive
line created by pff ratings outof all your office alignment,
even though they all sucked, youbeing the worst.
I mean to the point where milesgarrett beat you so cleanly
(24:09):
that you're screaming to jordanto run like it's a sequel out of
get out like run jordan, runlike I mean, I'm sorry, it's
literally coming out of a movielike Water.
It's insane to me and I lovethe floor trying to basically
calm the waves.
Tell these guys hey, I need youto refocus, re-energize, get
(24:30):
back on the plan.
Okay, we had a bad game, wewere thinking too much of
ourselves.
We're trying to get ahead ofour skis.
We're over here trying to saythat we're going to go
undefeated.
All right, we did that.
It didn't turn out so well.
Let's focus on what needs tohappen, get ready for Dallas and
go to Dallas Because, at theend of the day, matt LaFleur is
a good leader.
He is a good coach.
I know there's been a lot ofcommentary about him being soft
(24:51):
or, and the day his, his, hisability to have his thumb on the
pulse of the team is is prettygood.
He reminds me a lot of McCarthyin that sense, and he's not Mr
Like bravado.
He's not Mr Like I'm going toact hard.
He's not a fake alpha by anymeans, and I appreciate that
about him.
But I think that him taking theteam and say, hey, guys, I
(25:14):
really get back on track and weneed to focus on just one at a
time.
And it's cliche and it's cornyand it's very simple, but the
fact is, if you stick to thatmotto, before you know it, the
season's going to be over andmaybe you have 11, 12, 13 wins
and you have a first week bye,but you're getting into the
playoffs.
You might be a divisionalwinner and that's where you go
from there, because we winner.
(25:39):
And that's where you go fromthere, because we're in week
four now.
Right, yeah, talking aboutundefeated seasons and all this
kind of stuff.
It's like look at the day, having confidence is one thing,
but if you can't back it up,then it's like why you can say
that yep, no 100, I 100 agreewith you there and you need that
.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
It's the question of,
like I said before and like
you're saying, it's it's thequestion of does this get across
to this team now?
Do they respond?
How do they respond?
Do they follow his leadership?
Because you got a lot of guysin the room right now who you
got your Rasheed Walkers andthen you got your Micah Parsons.
They got their ownpersonalities right.
(26:14):
They got their own personalities, but it's all about and at the
end of the day, it's all abouteverybody buying it, buying into
the model, buying into thesystem, buying into what Matt
LaFleur, what Halfley, whateverybody's trying to do.
That's what it's all about.
At the end of the day, can youget those guys to do it?
And this is what he's trying todo with this quote, in my
opinion, is he's trying to geteverybody to buy into a simple
model.
Go one model, go 1-0 every week.
(26:34):
Focus on today, not tomorrow.
Don't focus on next weekbecause dallas is coming up.
Don't focus on dallas, let'sworry about the browns.
Then you got by week after thatand then you got.
I mean some weeks where you gotaaron rogers, you know you
gotta focus on that game againstrogers.
Don't look too far ahead.
Right, look at this game today, then worry about that.
I, I completely agree.
I.
(26:54):
I love that quote by him.
So now Packers, now they try toreboot, try to reboot.
Here we move forward.
We see what we're going to seethis next week and who do they
got coming up this week.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Dallas, dallas and
Dallas.
I just said, you know, I justsaid, now I'm blanking.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
They got Dallas
coming up this week here.
I mean, what are some of thethings I guess there's a lot of
things that we want to see inthis one.
What are some of the thingsthat you're looking for for this
team against Dallas for a?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
bounce back.
Well, I'm hoping that when thePackers are on offense, they
don't have a tambourine playingin the PA for artificial noise
Every time they're about to hikethe ball.
That needs to be investigated.
That was insane to me.
When I saw that, I was like, and I heard that, I was like how
do you even let that happen?
Like that was so.
For me, I think the biggestthing is there's no cd lamb this
(27:44):
week.
Probably he's going to be out.
You need to really focus ontrying to find a way to cause
disruption and pressure on dak.
Dak is a pretty goodquarterback.
He has legs, he has an arm, hestill has weapons.
And george pickens and also andjake ferguson that is a scary
alvarez uh favorite.
And then on top of that too, um, you know, giovante williams is
(28:06):
definitely kind of really comeback to his pre-acl form when he
was with denver.
Um, that defense is led by matteberfuss.
Didn't look good at all againstcaleb williams and chicago
bears last week.
So this is a get-right game forJordan in that offense.
We really just need to clean upthe penalties, because it feels
like it's 2024 again.
We're already second in theleague in false start penalties
(28:29):
and in pre-snap penalties andwith the pre-snap false starts,
as well as holding, we're second.
That's what I'm saying.
These are the kind of things, these mental issues.
They need to fix them up,because this has been a constant
problem since last year and ifthese are starting rearing their
ugly head, I'm sorry we need tostart firing people.
There's people that should notbe there in the positions they
are doing these things, becauseus bringing back the same people
(28:51):
and over and over again resultis literally the definition of
insanity.
Yeah, no saying yep.
So I just think that I justwant to see them get jacobs
going.
Okay, this is the perfect gamefor that.
I think kenny clarkunfortunately got hurt last week
too, so he may or may not beout there.
I want parsons to get like fivesacks just to really rub it
into jerry jones, and I justwant, I just want them to play.
(29:12):
There's no such thing as aperfect game, uh, but last time
jordan love and the green BayPackers were in Dallas, they
pretty much had a perfect gameuntil they got ruined with a bad
pass.
So no pick, but it was like amissed pass, I think, or
something crazy Me.
I just want to see them play acomplete football game and I
just want to see everybody getback on track because I want
them to go into the bye week ona high note, because once they
(29:33):
come on that bye week, they gotthe Bengals, who really aren't
the same without Joe Burrow, butthey're still a pretty good
football team with a lot ofweapons, and you have to be able
to counteract that.
What do you think?
Speaker 1 (29:43):
100%, 100%.
I am right there with thepenalties.
Focusing back in.
That's the biggest things Iwant to.
If you're the Green Bay Packers, you come into this game, you
are the better team.
If you come into this game, youare the better team.
If you do the little things, ifyou focus in, you limit the
penalties, you do all the rightthings in this game.
(30:03):
You win.
I seriously think so.
If jordan love plays as he hasbeen, the defense plays well,
the playmakers do their things, the offensive line takes care of
their business.
You're fine.
You just got to clean up thesilly mistakes.
This dallas cowboys team theygot.
Did they get ran by?
Who the heck just ran them lastweek there?
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Oh, chicago, chicago
ran them last week, two weeks
ago.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
They just got.
I mean, they took what Overtime?
Speaker 2 (30:27):
to Giants.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
So I mean this is a
Cowboys team where Dak's playing
well but CD's not out there.
You love Ferguson but like, like, there's nothing really
crazy about.
I love kenny clark, so kennyclark, but outside of that, I
mean there's nothing really towrite home about this team.
This is a a get right game.
But we said that about thebrowns.
You gotta focus, you still, youstill.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
I mean I know that
that defense for the browns is
legit, like we need to rememberthat number one defense right
now and what I said when I say Iwas like this will be our first
test against true defense andunfortunately we failed, so that
is a fantastic defense that youhope you never have to see
again so
Speaker 1 (31:03):
exactly.
That's just the way that thatwent.
But this cowboys team is notthat.
But it doesn't mean as and likematt lafleur saying, you look
past him, you take him lightly, you do any of that kind of stuff
.
You go out there, you win everydown.
You win's what matters.
I completely agree with thatand that's what they got to do.
They got to focus back in forDallas, and that's what I'm
looking for is the focus of thisteam going into that game
(31:24):
against Dallas.
Ummer, thank you, as always, for hopping on here.
Speaker 2 (31:31):

So, kyle, how are we doingWednesday?
The NFL season we just gotthrough week three, we're
heading into week four.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
How are we doing on
this Wednesday?
I'm good, it's fall, great timeof the year, playoff baseball
is in the air.
Nfl season like this, greattime to be a sports fan Loving
it.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
It is an awesome time
to be a sports fan Loving it.
It is an awesome time to be asports fan.
You are 100% correct there.
So, kyle, as we do every singleweek, we have the Mellow Yellow
Minute, the little triviaportion of the show, here in
honor of my grandpa.
He loved Mellow Yellow, heloved trivia shows.
So we make sure we do a littletrivia every single week.
We usually do a top 10.
And this week we have the top10 top selling sodas in the
(33:41):
United States.
We're going to do one throughfive, we'll do one through five,
we'll go one through five,we'll see.
We'll see what kind of Kylecomes up with this in the one.
So we have Sprite, pepsi, DietCoke, dr Pepper and Coca-Cola
Classic.
Kyle, what do you got Numberfive on the list there All right
(34:06):
Sprite Pepsi Coke Dr Pepper.
We got Diet Coke and Coke.
They're different.
They're not combined for thisone, they're separated.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Okay, so five I'm
going to go with.
Hmm, I'll go.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Diet Coke five.
Diet Coke number five Solidfirst pick.
Alright number four we havePepsi Sprite, dr Pepper and Coke
left on the list.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Four.
I'm going to go, Dr Pepper.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Not Dr Pepper.
Okay, I respect that.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
dr pepper might
surprise you before I'll go
sprite not sprite, not sprite innumber four spot it's actually
a little worried about that, because that's usually my choice
.
Uh, all, right then four hasgot to be pepsi pepsi is number
four.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
Number three kyle.
So three, I'll go sprite.
Sprite is number three, spriteis number three.
We have two and one left on theboard.
There you got coke and drpepper I'll say dr pepper to
coke one ding, ding, ding.
Dr pepper comes in at number two.
(35:21):
That's surprising.
That is surprising.
There's, like I maybe know liketwo people in my entire life
that drink dr pepper.
I there, it doesn't seem likethere's a lot of people.
So they're those people thatdrink dr pepper must buy all of
the dr pepper and that's whatmakes the sales go way through
the roof.
They just they have anunlimited stock of dr pepper in
(35:41):
their basement and nobody elsecan have it.
They just that's what they have.
The world ends.
They're going to be finebecause they have all the dr
pepper they could ever want intheir basement there.
So, top selling solos for theweek diet, coke, pepsi, sprite,
dr pepper and number one beingcoca-cola.
So, kyle, as we do every singleweek, the nfl season wrapped up
(36:03):
last week.
There are a lot of interestingball games that we had.
Kyle, let's go through ourrankings for the week.
So, going into this week, intoweek four, give me where, give
me your top five, give me yourtop five in the NFC.
Who are you looking at?
Who are in your?
Who is in your top five NFCfootball teams?
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Okay.
So NFC, I would say I'll goEagles one.
I just feel like they're thechamp.
They should be at the top.
They're not winning pretty, butthey're winning.
That's good enough.
They're just finding ways towin.
I like that.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Two.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Here's where it gets
interesting.
I would say I'll put the Bucsat two.
I think with the Bucs they'reanother team like the Eagles.
It may not be pretty, but ifthey're in the game late, baker
will find a way to get the win.
So I'll have them at two rightnow.
(37:10):
Three I will go with.
I'll put the Packers at three.
I will go with.
I'll put the Packers at three.
I still like what they have.
Brown's game aside, that's oneof those where you lose it and
you go, you scratch your headfor a little bit and you say you
know, whatever they'll be fine.
The Packers have all theelements to be a really good
(37:33):
team, so I'll put them at three.
Good team, so I'll put them atthree.
Four I guess I I I want thebrands of four I think are a
team that's built to play injanuary.
They have a tough test thisweek against the eagles.
(37:54):
You'll learn a lot about them.
But Stafford and that group, you know verse on defense, I
think they're.
I'll put them at four right now.
And then five it's tough, tough, tough.
I'll put the Niners at five.
You got to give them credit.
Brock Purdy's out, but they'restill winning.
(38:16):
With Mac Jones.
The competition hasn'tnecessarily been fierce, but
they're playing well.
I'll give them five.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
The only one that
maybe you could slip in there
would be the Lions.
That'd be the only one that Iwould say could possibly slip
into that top five just becauseof the performance that they had
against the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
I would.
I would actually put the Lionsat five.
That's right.
That top five.
Just because of the theperformance that they had
against the ravens, I would.
I would actually put the linesat five.
That that's right.
What they did against theravens was impressive.
I love that dan campbell hasthat team.
They have an identity.
Yeah, ravens lost that gamebecause they were scrambling for
what they wanted to be lines, lions lineup, smash-mouse
football play, action, gadgetplays.
(38:59):
So, yeah, the Lions have to bein the five, yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
Yeah, but you can see
it.
You can see the 49ers slippingin there, you can see the Rams
being in there, the Lions, it'sjust when you watch them against
the Ravens.
That's the one that set meapart.
It wasn't the Bears game, Idon't care about the bears game.
It was going to baltimore andwinning that game pretty handily
and refocusing in right, thisteam.
You're missing the coordinators.
All this talk about you afterthe packer game and it was like
(39:26):
which direction were they gonnahead?
And we see this team.
It's like they're back, they'regood, they figured it out,
they're good.
So I like that one.
I like that top five there.
Let's look over at the afc.
Okay, afc picture.
Who do you got top five?
Speaker 3 (39:40):
so afc.
I feel like the top two teamsare kind of set.
Uh, I would go buffalo one andthen chargers two.
I think those two haveseparated themselves in the afc.
Uh, chargers love uh theoffense and you know,
defensively they can get afterit in buffalo.
(40:01):
Look, josh allen is justplaying really well right now.
Uh, three, here's where you canget a little, because the fc is
just really jumbled.
I think process of elimination.
I'd have to put the colts atthree.
I don't necessarily buy intothem, but they're just playing
(40:23):
really well right now while alot of teams in the AFC are not.
I'll put the Colts at three.
Four, I guess, despite the loss.
I'll put the Ravens at four.
I don't like it, butoffensively they're really good.
(40:45):
I don't like their defense atall.
Roquan Smith in the middle ofthe field can have trouble in
the running game and pass game.
Humphrey gets picked on byopposing offenses, but Lamar,
derrick, henry, I think they'llfigure it out.
(41:06):
So I'll put them at four andthen five.
Good luck with that.
This may be crazy.
I'll put the Chiefs at five.
It's like the best of a lot ofmediocre teams right now.
(41:27):
They have the Ravens this week,so big test for them.
They look like they got back tosome good habits.
Against the Giants.
It is the Giants, but there'squestions with them as well.
Is their offense good enough tobeat top tier teams?
I can't buy into the Jags.
I just I just can't.
So I'll put the chiefs at five.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Yeah, it's a weird.
You know, joe Burrow going downkind of changed the landscape
of everything.
So, yeah, I would agree.
The AFC is legends game ofeverything.
So, yeah, I would agree, theafc is kind of kind of wide open
plus the texans.
Cj stroud and the texans teamhaven't been able to put it all
back together.
It's just, it's uh, it's a downday.
The afc is definitely down.
The nfc seems like that's goingto be the hot league right now
and the afc is kind of like ahwell, you got the bills and the
(42:10):
ravens are sticking around andyou got some decent teams, but
it's not.
It's not up to snuff, I don'tthink yeah, well, I mean, it's
gonna work its way out.
It's week three, right, work inthe week four it'll work its
way out.
We'll see some of these teamstake off there.
So power rankings done there.
Kyle's power rankings for theweek.
Kyle, let's flip over.
I want to talk a little mlb.
(42:31):
We haven't.
We haven't really talked a lotof mlb in a while.
You know, nfl people get youknow there's enough about the
nfl.
I, like I said I talked aboutit last week.
I believe it's like people needto remember the packers are
playing well and that was beforethe you know, the browns game.
I was like backers are playingwell, but we got to remember
guys like, hey, the brewers arestill playing baseball right now
.
They're in a hot, hot raceright now.
(42:52):
Now they just locked up thecentral, they locked up either
the one or two seed in theplayoffs.
As we're watching this Padresteam kind of light up Bruce
Zimmerman there.
So it's kind of looking likeit's, you know, going to go
rough here against the Padres ingame two.
So the Brewers we see thembattling it out right now with
the Phillies for that number oneseed in the National League and
(43:13):
then the Brewers also battlingit out with the Blue Jays and
the Phillies for the number oneoverall seed in all of baseball
there.
So, kyle, I mean grand scheme ofthings.
We talk about, you know, locking up spots right now,
everything like that.
What are you seeing right now?
Who do you like?
You know, just kind of give me,as we kind of wind down this
(43:33):
race here, the National League'sheating up.
You got the Cubs, they lockedup a spot, so did the padres,
but the mets, reds anddiamondbacks are all battling
for that last spot there.
The cardinals are surprisinglynot out of it, but they're still
technically out of it.
And then you look over at theal side of it.
You have nothing locked up.
You have a tight race therebetween the yankees, red sox,
(43:55):
tigers, astros, rangers.
I mean the Rangers are mostlikely out, they're five and a
half back.
Most likely they're going to beeliminated here pretty much
today, as we're talking onTuesday.
But, kyle, I mean just give mea grand scheme of things right
now.
What are you seeing right now?
Wild card race and everythinglike that.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Like you said, it is
crazy, like the weird thing is,
because of the Guardians' hotrun, scooble and the Tigers
could find themselves completelyout of the playoffs, whereas a
month ago they might have been asafe bet.
And that's where Septemberbaseball is really intriguing
(44:35):
and full of a lot of drama.
The Blue Jays have a toughseries against Red Sox this week
, the Red Sox taking game one.
That's a series that the RedSox need because the Tigers and
Astros are right there on theirheels so they can't really give
(44:57):
up games.
Right now the Mariners arebattling with the Astros.
The Astros seem like they mighthave been in lock two, three
weeks ago.
So the American League is crazy.
The Blue Jays do have theirspot locked up, probably to win
the AL and beat that one seedgoing into the playoffs.
(45:18):
But I think there's somematchups that could be
intriguing, like we might getYankees-Red Sox wildcard round.
I think baseball would love tosee that.
You know you could get, I don'tknow, mariners-astros or
something Like it's so much upin the air that I love it.
And then the National League.
(45:39):
I think the fact that the Redsare hanging around intrigues me.
I think their final push in theseason.
They face some tough opponents.
Call me crazy the Diamondbacksmight find themselves in the
wild card.
Speaker 1 (45:57):
Wouldn't that be nuts
?
After trading the roster.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
That's the weird
stuff about baseball.
Like the Diamondbacks gave upon the season and it's like, as
the Mets started dropping, theystarted playing well and the
Mets have kept them in this andnow they may slide in there and,
overt know, overtake the redsand the mets to claim that final
wild card.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
That's crazy and it's
baffling, it really is, and
you're talking about greatmatchups there.
You could potentially see likea phillies, if the phillies were
to get I believe was if theygot the two seed, you could see
phillies dodgers end up playingeach other there in the second
round.
Already in the NLDS you couldbe talking Cubs, brewers in the
(46:41):
NLDS.
There is a lot of good matchupsthat could roll across.
I mean, right now you'rewatching the Brewers and Padres
and I mean the Brewers and thisis where a lot of fans because,
as I'm talking right now they'regoing to be game three of the
series.
Here we're watching game two.
They're pitching brucezimmerman.
You guys ever heard of brucezimmerman?
Remember.
If they do and I'm I'm hopingthey come back, win this game,
(47:01):
you know anyways, but if they dolose this game, remember
they're.
They're pitching brucezimmerman tonight here.
So we got to remember that atthe end of the day I there's.
The brewers have some injuryconcerns heading into the
postseason.
Here, as we saw brandon wood,he got another opinion from a
surgeon.
They're talking about surgerynow on that arm.
(47:22):
There it's looking like itcould be another year of Brandon
Woodruff going down before thepostseason.
And so the Brewers pitchingstaff looking like it might take
a hit.
You already have Quintana out.
I guess I want to look outsideperspective, kyle, because
you're kind of looking.
He's.
He's hoping to be back, butwe're talking about an eye out
(47:43):
with the lat, with the latstrain there.
So if Woodruff can't go,there's talk of Mizorowski going
to the bullpen.
Mizorowski's struggled thisseason.
It seems like there's more badoutings than good.
I mean, I'm good with FreddiePriester and Quintana going in a
(48:04):
rotation there.
Maybe maybe you throw a gas ormaybe you throw a.
Uh, maybe you throw.
I mean, here's my questionbecause I was asked this If
you're Brandon Woodruff, you'vedone this before.
You've had had this problem.
He's been pitching with itapparently for like a month.
It's made his velocity go downin his fastball.
If you're Brandon Woodruff, doyou just say screw it, because
(48:26):
you have, for multiple seasonsnow, had to sit out of the
playoffs and now you're lookingat another year where you're
going to have to have surgeryanyways.
Do you just say maybe I'll justgive her a run?
I mean, this was a question Iwas asked and I was like I guess
it depends how bad it is.
You know the lats train andeverything but you.
You might be talking aboutretirement anyways, if you have
(48:49):
to have surgery again, so areyou just?
I mean, in your opinion, do youjust say screw it?
Speaker 3 (48:56):
I think the
temptation will be there and
look, maybe for Woodruff, youput him out in the bullpen and
you go break glass in case of anemergency type thing where
maybe you need an out to kind ofclose out an inning or
something like that, and hefeels good that day, you try it.
(49:18):
Yeah, I wouldn't put him in thestarting rotation because I
feel like, yeah, if you havethree, four starters you believe
in, you can make it through thepostseason.
So I think you're fine there.
I think Mizorowski in thebullpen makes a lot of sense.
Some guys may struggle on themound as a starter, but you put
him in the bullpen, they comeout for an inning or so and they
(49:40):
catch people off guard.
So I think that would be thesmart move to make.
And yeah, woodruff I would putin the bullpen, kind of like as
a long reliever If you're up afew runs late, you don't want to
burn like a key setup or yourcloser, and you want to throw
Woodruff out there and see if hecan get you two, three outs.
Why not?
Speaker 1 (50:00):
It's a crazy risk.
It's a crazy risk at the end ofthe day.
It might be crazy to even thinkabout trying to pitch through
an injury like that.
I guess he's going to see whatthat surgeon says, what that
opinion says back to him, but itjust ah to have another year
where you're heading BrandonWoodruff set up to be that guy
in your rotation and he justgoes down it.
It really does suck here.
(50:20):
It really does suck to see.
So I mean any last finalthoughts there of the MLB before
we, before I let you go here, kyle.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
No, I look.
I think these races are fun.
This is what the league wants, and it's going to be a crazy
final week because I believewild card starts next.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
Tuesday, next Tuesday
already.
Isn't that crazy?
It's like the final game of theseason.
You're like basically day andthen you're back.
So I mean, yeah, it's, wow, itis.
It's just like that MLBpostseason baseball is going to
be upon us.
Next week already, the Brewersthey have the Padres right now.

You know it.
It's good, it's a terribleinjury, everything like that.
We were just kind of saying, like it could be it for Brandon
(52:20):
Woodruff Do you want to pitchthrough that kind of injury?
No, pain tolerance, everythinglike that is going to have to be
very high.
Is he worried about injuring itworse?
It's all those differentintangibles going to it.
We don't expect him to.
It's just a question of does hefinally or not finally?
But does he just say, well, I'mjust going to throw and see
what happens, because apparentlyhe's been doing it for a month
(52:41):
now.
So would he test it forpostseason appearance?
I don't know, that's a question.
I guess we're going to have towait and see.
From the sounds of it, fromwhat he said, probably not, but
maybe, just maybe.
I don't know, we'll see whatkind of happens there.
(53:01):
The brewers they're gonna bewrapping up the season here and
then next week here we start outpostseason play, so can't wait
to kind of see that there.

here.
