It's Wednesday.
We're back here.
We're back here.
We're excited.
Packers got the win.
(01:02):
How are we doing on thisWednesday?
Speaker 2 (01:04):
I'm absolutely great
man, I can't complain.
I am still riding the high ofour victory or the Lions in very
profound fashion.
And yeah, I'm like.
I mean I think you know thisweek has been really crazy at
work, so that's been like insane.
But at the end of the day, justto see the amount of joy that I
(01:26):
received not just from Sunday, because Sunday was great, I
think all Packer fans can relatebut then to see what happened
on Monday night and to watchthose two dysfunctional teams go
at it, and it was just like youknow, someone had like told two
like you know sheep and theyput like blindfolds on them and
they told them to you know know, like graze the yard and they
(01:47):
didn't know what they were doingthat's what it felt like, it
was amazing like to watch thesetwo first round pick
quarterbacks who were basicallybeing halted as, like the, the
next generational talents of thenfl, and they both look pretty
subpar.
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I feelgreat, like it great.
It seems like this weekend wasjust a weekend of giving us a
lot of joy.
How are you doing?
Speaker 1 (02:07):
How have you been
Right in the high.
It was a good weekend with that.
Brewers got a serious sweepover the Pirates, even though
now these Rangers just want toget out of Texas.
I keep saying that every time Icome back.
It's like I just want to getout of Texas.
I'm so sick of this place rightnow.
Um, badgers got a win, yet itwas ugly, and now they got bama,
(02:28):
so we'll see how that all goesI mean it's, it's good, I'm
riding the high.
I haven't stopped smiling sinceI've seen micah parsons chase
down jared goff.
That was the craziest one yes,I would say that sack, because
he just like he wasn't there andthen he was there, like he just
came out of the pile and thenwas just in a full fledged
pursuit and it was like mattlafleur is like ah, how did he
(02:49):
say he's like he's shot out of acannon or whatever?
yes just something crazy and Iwas like, yeah, it was what it
was like.
It was exactly what it was like.
But I mean, give me yourthoughts.
I mean the whole micah parsonsthing what were your?
thoughts on him coming out last, like that was, was pretty cool
seeing Matt LaFleur call him thenight before and say, hey, you
want to come out last.
Usually Xavier McKinney wouldcome out last, but he's like
(03:09):
give him his moment.
I mean, just give me yourthoughts on giving Micah Parsons
his moment first time inLambeau, running out of that
tunnel.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I think it shows you
the camaraderie that this team
has, considering the fact thatthey could easily like you know,
people could get in theirfeelings and get it.
You know they can get in theiremotions about certain things,
but the fact that he was able todo that Xavier McKinney was in
full support of it and theovation that he got was
absolutely amazing I mean, otherthan big Mike being there to be
(03:39):
, you know, celebrated for the2010 team just to see just the
ovation and the team and justeverything.
And the funny thing is, fromthe moment he stepped onto the
field after his name wasannounced, it seems like that
energy and that support did notend until the game was over and
then it followed into the lockerroom.
What I mean by that is you justsaw the players galvanize and
(04:02):
just get this rally around thisguy for everything he did,
because, yeah, he may have onlyhad one sack, but his presence
on the field was known.
On the limited, I think he hadonly like 30 snaps and, yeah,
for a guy to come in 30 snaps toplay the way he did and
honestly like, like you said, that play when he's shot out of
a cannon and then he's justrunning this dude down, like.
(04:24):
I know that edwin Cooper islike the Michael Myers incarnate
.
He loves doing the Halloweenstuff.
That's what that felt like.
That felt like Freddy Kruegerwalking down a victim of his and
I'm not going to lie it justseemed like from the beginning
of the game to the end of thegame it was just this energy
that was just going through thewhole team and you could just
feel it across the board.
And I think someone said on aradio show earlier today was
(04:47):
this guy missed all trainingcamp.
He hasn't been like, actuallylike, and he just only had two
practices.
And for him to have that kindof presence with two practices,
it's pretty wild to think likehe even said himself today and
there's a, you know hisinterviews that he did that.
Imagine how we're going to lookin week five, and I'm like, all
right that he did that.
Imagine how we're going to lookin week five and I'm like, all
(05:07):
right, we after week five, because week fives are by right.
So imagine week six when hecomes out and now he's fully
integrated into the defense.
He's a part of the.
He's even more so, not justpart of the game plan, but like
knows from more like more so,from practicing and working with
his guys like, okay, I knowwhat lucas.
I mean he's been the biggesthype man for cooper and lucas
van ness and roshan gary, rightand just now then, when what
(05:27):
they're good at, what they'renot good at and where they can
kind of lean on each other, I'msky's the limit, man.
I'm just saying this.
That week one has, really, think, set our standards kind of
high and I'm I'm just excited, how about you, man?
What do you think?
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I love.
Okay, so you basically justwent through my next point that
I was going to talk about.
It was the Micah Parsons effecton this team.
Right, the Micah Parsons effect, and we saw it in full-fledged
that Evan Williams interceptionwas caused by Micah Parsons.
He got around Seawall there andhe just caused that
interception because Goff had toget rid of it.
Then you see, I love the package.
Jeff Affle did a phenomenal jobin week one.
(06:05):
He threw Micah Parsons on theoutside, he threw Gary on the
opposite and he slid Lucas VanNess to the inside.
And I love that, because LucasVan Ness could just bull rush.
He could just be himself justbull rush.
Don't worry about a containedkind of component to your job.
Just get the quarterback, andthat's what he did.
Lucas Van Ness looked athousand times better.
(06:26):
Uh, davante wyatt looked great.
His pass rush grade actuallycame in at a 72.
He was phenomenal, according topff, but he was phenomenal.
Just watching him, davante, whyit was great?
Uh, another guy that I saw thatgot better kobe wouldn't.
Yeah, he looked great he lookedphenomenal and he looks jacked,
he looks like I see why he'sstarting.
(06:48):
I now know Like we were kind ofquestioning at first.
We're like how did he, you know, earn that job?
Whatever, I see it now, Ireally do, I see it now and I
just love the Micah Parsonseffect.
Just made everybody else onthis defense that much better.
The hype, this defense thatmuch better.
The hype, the, the, just theflow, the feeling that these
guys have they.
Just they feel good right now.
(07:08):
Yeah, you could see it in theirplay.
You could see.
I mean we forgot that edgar andcooper was even playing because
we're all so focused in onmicah parsons that edgar and
cooper is just secretly havingthis phenomenal game and we
didn't even like watch it to seeit.
He just looked great out there.
And one thing that I just wantto talk about the run defense.
I heard and this is just what Iheard.
(07:29):
I don't know it's all crazytalk, but kenny clark was
leaving and they were all likeoh, you know, I I heard dallas
media and lions media andeverything wow, kenny clark's
leaving.
This run defense for green bayjust got a thousand times worse.
Micah parsons can't play therun.
What are they going to do nowagainst the run?
They're not going to be able tostop the run.
(07:50):
The Lions had 46 yards betweenJameer Gibbs, montgomery
Williams, goff, 46 yards intotal on 22 carries.
There was nothing there.
They only had 22 carriesbecause there was nothing there
in the run game.
So I don't know where it gotworse.
Just talk to me about the rungame.
What did you love to see out ofthe run defense in this game,
(08:15):
because I mean 46 yards on 22carries.
2.1 was the average for jameergibbs and david montgomery.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
I mean honestly, like
I think, knowing how dan
campbell is a run first coach,he loves running the ball.
Yeah, they like taking theirshots, but at the day he's
pretty old school guy, he likesto run the ball.
You know jamar gibbs comes intothe league this year as a guy
who I mean in fantasy footballhe was going like top five picks
.
I know people aren't big onfantasy, but that just shows you
(08:46):
like the kind of expectationsthat they were having for him.
And then on top of that too, david Montgomery was still going
pretty high too, because thetwo of them as a one-two hit was
a pretty big deal.
They showed that last year.
And for us to not only stymiethat but to make them obsolete,
I mean I know we took a leadrelatively early, but Detroit's
the kind of team that doesn'treally get out of.
(09:06):
Like it wasn't like we had likea four score lead or something
you know, like the game wasstill in a way where they could
still run the ball and they hadno success.
I mean you have Jamar Gibbs, who is also a great receiving
back 10 catches, 30 yards.
Yeah, he had 10 catches becauseyou know you had to dump it off
because the pressure wasgetting him off.
But he did nothing with that.
(09:27):
And I think what I reallyenjoyed watching this defense do
was watching the guys rally tothe ball carry.
I remember Joe Barry's firstyear.
I'm not a big Joe Barry guy youguys know my disdain for this
man but his first year as a DCwhat we noticed with his like
the defense was playing.
They were playing with theirheads on fire, right, they were
(09:47):
like rallying to the ball, making tackles, things like that
.
You're seeing that with ahalf-league defense, but also
with a lot more aggression, alot more intensity.
And I think it can't go withoutbeing said that the difference
that our defensive line haslooked from the last couple
years without Kenny Clark andhow that looks now with Mr
Covington coaching and I made ajoke to myself yesterday I was
(10:10):
like could you imagine what thisdefense would look like with
Kenny Clark?
I'm just saying like it'salready pretty sick.
And could you imagine if 97 wasin that middle too?
Right, I don't even know It'dbe.
It would be almost unfair atthat point.
Right, I don't even know, itwould be almost unfair at that
point.
But the fact that we were ableto do this after we lost not
just a great person but a greatplayer, kenny Clark, who is
probably poised for a great yearcoming back from his injury.
(10:32):
Yeah, I think that we exceededexpectations and I think we have
a great test coming ahead of ushere, because I know we're
going to be talking about ithere soon, but the commanders- I
mean they ran like 243 yards onthe giants and the giants have
a pretty solid defensive lineand yeah, I think you know this
is going to be a great test forseeing just if we were just
(10:54):
really that good or was detroitreally that bad.
I'm not trying to take anythingaway from the win like please
don't get me wrong but I'm kindof hoping that it's more so the
earlier than the latter you.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
You know, and I said
it earlier, I don't Detroit's
going to be fine, like they'regoing to be a solid team this
year.
Dan Campbell figured out youhad to replace two coordinators
that I don't think fans oranybody else realized were that
important to this team untilthis first game.
And now you realize likethere's still a lot of talent on
that team, it's just they'revery dysfunctional right now.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
And.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Like there's still a
lot of talent on that team, it's
just they're very dysfunctionalright now and, like Kirby
Joseph, you didn't even hear hisname.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
He was not employed.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Invisible.
Yes, there were so many.
Even Aiden Hutchinson, like youheard his name, maybe called.
His name was called oneimportant time and that's when
he depleted Jordan Love and itwas an illegal hit and then he
got everything like screwed up.
And then, on that same place, tom heard yes, so actually you
heard his name in a terrible wayin that one there, but there is
(11:49):
a guy who's gonna havesomething to say about that.
Run game for the commanders quaywalker oh, you look amazing I
actually loved what I saw toquay walker in week one.
I really did his what we talkedabout last year.
He can't what we talked aboutlast year.
He can't get off a block.
He can't get off a block.
He can't fill the holes right.
It seemed like he was always inthe wrong spot at the wrong.
(12:12):
He's never in the right spot.
Let's go with that.
And he was good at passcoverage, but he wasn't good in
run defense.
I thought he was great in thisgame in run defense.
I don't know, did he grade wellin the run defense?
61.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
It wasn't great, it
wasn't terrible, it was 61.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
He was like average.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Solid.
It didn't look average no.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
I don't think 61 I
thought was kind of low.
I thought he was pretty good inrun defense.
Anyways, I'll take 61.
Pff sometimes is just whateverthey think.
A little wonky yeah we've talkedabout the pressures that they
grade and everything.
It can all be different, but Ithought Quay Walker was great.
I think Edgerick Cooper isphenomenal and I love your point
there about them rallying tothe football and that's the
(12:51):
juice that we were talking about.
All these guys are playing likethey all need to earn a
paycheck, yet Like they haven'tall earned a paycheck.
Quay Walker is a guy who hasn'tearned his paycheck.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Was Quay extended?
No, not yet.
No, not yet.
His fifth-year option, I think, was activated, but Devontae
Wyatt's was not.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah, Yep, there you
go.
So I mean Quay is still playingfor that paycheck right now.
So you have a lot of guys inthis defense who are still
playing for that next paydayright now.
Maybe you're seeing that rightnow out of some of these guys
and that little extra juice thatthey're bringing, but it's
(13:28):
definitely that micah parsonseffect there.
So kind of just speak to meabout that linebacker core right
now and maybe, if you want toshoot in that secondary right
now, because the secondary stillthere's some good in there, but
there's still some scary.
Because keratin valentine'sgreat.
I think he's gonna be reallygood.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
But and the flip side
of that, keisha nixon, yeah, I
still don't know with him, Idon't part of me was very upset
how keishon kept letting amasaibrown get like easy completions
underneath routes, right, but Ithink it was by design, like the
way he was.
When he's protecting theoutside, he's protecting the
like the fly around.
He's also like protecting thesideline, I feel like.
(14:01):
So he was trying to push himinside, so he's like well, if I
push him inside, he catches theball.
That's fine, because thedefense is all there, right, and
they're going to make sure thathe doesn't get anything right,
which I think was like the idea.
And then, when it came toValentine, they said that minus
the playoffs, I think in regularseason, maybe in playoffs
(14:28):
because I don't know thatgoddard uh touchdown was on him
technically.
He hasn't given up a touchdownsince 2023 yep, week 14 to 20 I
just got that just came acrosstwitter, as you were saying to
me week, and I'm just like, yeah, and isaac tesla ran an awesome
route and he, you know, he made.
He also made like a basic odellbeckham jr.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Catch right, it
wasn't like it was an easy catch
, right so I was a darn goodcatch.
That was awesome like yeah, 100.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
I was like, okay,
well, you know you took, you
know you tilt your hat to that.
You're like, all right, well, that's respect, right?
Yeah, um, I think that you sawxavier mckinney.
I mean, he had moments.
He got called on a really bogustaunting call which I thought
was really dumb.
Uh, uh, evan williams has proventhat he definitely is, uh, not
a reach when he was a fourthround pick coming out of oregon
(15:06):
and he's showing why he was thebest player on that defense.
Justice muscato, thank you forthat.
And when it comes to jevonbullard playing the slot, I just
feel like you.
Our secondary had their momentsof games somewhat tested, but
it wasn't too bad because ourfront seven was on fire.
Yeah, like you say about thelinebackers quay walker, edgar
and cooper, even isaac duffythey all had good games.
(15:27):
Again, when they're playingthat base defense and the
linebacker gets put on areceiver, it's the most
infuriating thing in the world.
But you know, next week sorrythis thursday we're gonna really
see them get tested, because Ifeel like the weapons for
Washington are very similar towhat we have in Detroit.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
When it comes to
skill set.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
When it comes to
talent, debo Samuel is not
really like.
He looked really good last week.
Terry McLaurin I've loved himsince day one.
Zach Hurst is an old, wilyveteran.
And then, of course, the rookie, jacory Merritt, bill, who just
look like fresh legs out there.
So you know like.
And then, of course, you can'ttake away, you know, jaden
Daniels, basically a rookie ofthe year and just an absolute
(16:10):
amazing football player as aquarterback and just just as a
leader.
Yeah, this defense isdefinitely going to be tested,
but again, parsons is used toplaying this Washington team
like there's nothing new for him, which is a which is a good
thing for us.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
I would say you know,
and going back to your point
there, both the secondary andthe front seven playing like
they're on fire.
I would say that we finallyhave the front seven going.
That's going to make thesecondaries job a lot easier.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
We talked about it.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Last year, no pass
rush made the secondary look
worse.
I think now you can kind of getaway with it.
It's just going to be a matterof if you get against a team who
you know and the Lions, theyhave a lot of young guys on that
line too, so they're stillworking through some of their
you know young struggles.
When you see the Lions thesecond time around, their
adjustments, do you make thoseadjustments and how does your
secondary respond to that too?
(16:54):
Because you know a Dan Campbellteam is not going to play worse
the second time around.
They're gonna get better.
And a team like the commandersis playing well and you know
you're gonna have teams on thisschedule.
It's a pretty tough schedule.
I mean, you look ahead.
There's a lot of toughopponents on there, so you're
gonna have some tough games.
So it's a question of how doesthe secondary respond, and it
was.
It was the second touchdown inhis career that he was alone
(17:16):
dude since 2023.
So that's the first one since2023, though, but he's only
allowed to do in his entirecareer.
That's awesome to see how tocarry to valentine there.
I would say, yeah, my onlyworry is on the back side there,
nixon, and, like you said, Imean he was maybe just doing
what he was told.
You know, keep protect theoutside, force him, and I can
see that, uh, bullard did play alot in that base.
He was playing a lot of safety,so that's something to keep an
(17:37):
eye on.
There, too, was bullard playinga lot in that safety spot there
?
But you're gonna see that mix, because bullard he's definitely,
definitely gonna be in that mixthere.
That safety back to the slot.
You're gonna see him workaround there a little bit.
So we're gonna come back hereon the back side of this ad
break.
We're gonna preview, we'regonna wrap up the lions preview
ahead and look at thatcommander's game coming up, what
we want to see and what we hopeto see against the commanders
(18:00):
coming up.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
We'll be right back.
You know it's under pressureright now you're concrete.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
That's why it's on
level right now and that's why
you need to call our friends atb and h concrete lifting.
They're gonna help you out.
Tired of tripping over thatsunken driveway?
Maybe that patio?
Your sidewalk's causing youtrouble?
We're getting close to winterright now.
You're worried about yourshovel because you're just going
to be going along and I've beenthere, we've all been there.
You got the shovel in front ofyour gut.
(18:23):
Maybe you're shoveling along, you hit that little lip and all
of a sudden, boom, there you go,lost your breath, you pass out
in the driveway.
It's just a whole thing.
You don't want that.
Call bnh concrete.
Before that happens, call them.
They'll come over.
They'll flatten that thing outlike brand new.
You'll be able to put a levelout there, you'll be able to set
a ball out there and it won'troll into a little crevice.
(18:44):
That's all you need to know.
Bnh concrete lifting have.
Let them help you get yourconcrete right.
So, ummer, back for the break.
Here we haven't.
We haven't exactly talked aboutthe offense yet for the green
bay packers coming off thatlions game.
We talked a lot of defense, andrightfully so.
The defense was great in thisone.
(19:05):
We didn't even talk aboutRashawn, gary, he was fantastic.
We didn't talk about I mean alot about Cooper, he was
fantastic.
Mckinney was great.
The defense was good all theway around.
I don't think there was really aoutside of like worrying about
the secondary.
I don't think there was a realspot on this like defense where
you're like this was bad.
So let's look over at theoffense, because there was
definitely.
I would say the offense wasmore or less the spot where you
(19:27):
could look and say you had someissue.
Maybe the run game didn'treally get going.
Josh jacobs I wish they couldhave got him downhill a little
bit more.
You just didn't see it in thatone.
So, ummer, I mean the run game, was it a worry for you?
Are you not so worried?
I mean, they got him atouchdown later out of the game.
He kept that streak alive there, but they just weren't able to
(19:47):
really open up any holes forjosh jacobs in this one to get
downhill and get going.
So I mean, what were yourthoughts on the run game coming
off this one?
Speaker 2 (19:55):
I think I you know,
following some of the guys that
I follow on twitter.
Um, they were saying that thelinebackers are crashing really
hard for detroit, so they weredoing everything they can to
stop the run, no matter whatright.
Even with that being said, therun blocking based on our
offense line wasn't the greatestand that josh jacobs does make
up for a lot of it, and even hewas having some struggles right.
So we did get a touchdown, butagain, they were doing
(20:17):
everything they can to kind ofget us out of the run and force
us to throw, which then then putthe ball in Jordan's hand.
He was able to light him uppretty well and be extremely
efficient throwing the ball.
I'm not worried about the rungame as of right now, but I do
feel that, as the season goes on, we need to get a little more
consistent and be more positivein that way, because we have
(20:37):
seen how good this team can bewhen they're in a balanced
offense, and the thing anyPacker fan can agree with me on
this is that what we've noticedis, in the first half, the
packers look great and it seemslike no matter what team it is,
no matter what quarterback it is.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter, coach, noneof it.
We always look terrible in thethird quarter.
(21:01):
Yeah, we always take a step back, we take the foot off the pedal
, we do three runs in a row andthen we're punting.
It's just crazy stuff thatdon't even make no sense, right,
and it's just like I don't knowif they're resetting or what's
going on.
Right, they reboot the system, but it just doesn't look very
efficient at all.
In the third quarter, and thenit seems like fourth quarter,
(21:27):
they wake up and they kind ofget their head out of their
you-know-what and they startmoving in the right direction.
Honestly, if you take away theactual running aspect, when it
comes to things that they had todo Josh Jacobs, chris Brooks
they were absolutely amazing atpass blocking and I think, as a
running back, having know havingthat extra blocker back there
who knows what he's doing, knowshow to pass guys off, and I
(21:48):
mean Brooks looked like Brookswas taking on defensive tackles.
I mean I'm just saying like I'mnot wasn't extremely impressed
with the run game, but again,it's one of those things where,
like sometimes these games, whenyou're playing against a
divisional opponent who know youextremely well, sometimes
there's things you just can'tget away with right, and so I
want to see how we fare againstWashington, because you know
(22:11):
they've redone their defensiveline.
You know they got some prettygood guys out there Kinlaw
Hargrave, you know, they broughtback Fowler, you know.
And then of course Ron Payne isstill there.
So I'm really interested to see, like, how we fare against them
, because you know, look at theway the floor has been able to
be he has always had Dan Quinn'snumber.
(22:31):
Anytime he's played Dan Quinndefense, he just eviscerates
them.
I hope I'm not, like you know, jinxing us here, knock on wood,
but he just finds a way to beable to kind of expose dan
quinn's defenses.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
So it'll be
interesting to see if he can
keep that streak going.
Yeah, yeah, no, and youmentioned blocking there and I I
do agree, I love the blocking.
Chris brooks and josh jacobs inthat game, and I did see a
couple video.
Uh, they did.
You know, I watched the game, but I was watching the video of
chris brooks taking on some ofthose, uh, defensive tackles
coming through.
I'm he did a pretty darn goodjob too of keeping him out of
there.
But looking at the switch, soZach Tom gets hurt on that point
(23:07):
I talked about earlier andKennard comes in.
I thought Kennard played reallywell.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Really well in that
game and against some pretty
good pass rush too.
So it's going to make itinteresting when we do see Zach
Tom come back, what they do.
Because if he's going to makeit interesting when we do see,
you know, zach Tom come back, what they do, because if he's
going to be out against theCommanders, you expect we're
going to see Kennard again.
Kennard plays well again.
I mean, you're going to seemaybe some guys moving around,
moving pieces again.
We could maybe see it again.
(23:34):
We saw Jordan Morgan kind ofmoving around in there.
So maybe we see some moremovement in there.
I don't know movement in there,I don't know.
We'll see what happens withthat one there.
This offense though, I meanthey look good.
Jordan Love looked good.
He was making some.
Jordan Love made some darn goodthrows in this game.
That throw to Reed, that wasmoney.
That was nasty the throw toDobbs was awesome that one deep
one there.
I think he had another bigthrow, I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
The.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Kraft throw Touchdown
over the middle.
There that was money.
He once again took some shotsand I don't know if you can
really.
He took some shots where hecould have just Then we ran.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
He looked like silly
body running out there like bro,
like oh my God yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
I mean he had some
throws where it's like he had.
Okay, he took the shot, but hecould have just dumped her to
Kraft for a good 10, 15 yardsand been fine.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
I know exactly what
you're talking about.
Zach Tucker Kraft was openright underneath and he went
deep and I was like it's thoselike things where he's he's a
highly aggressive quarterback, right where we're not always
used to that because, you know, rogers had his moments, but a
lot of times he would be alittle more conservative.
So, like you said, he justneeds to kind of like sometimes
(24:45):
just take the gimme instead oftrying to take the.
You know know, go for six everytime.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
That's why I was okay
with that second half.
A lot of people are like whydidn't the Packers blow them out
?
Cause it was like they were onthat way to it and they kind of
went conservative.
And I was like I'm okay withthat because Jordan love he, I
love him.
He makes good throws, he can bea dominant, great quarterback,
but sometimes he gets crazy, yeah, and if he got too crazy
(25:10):
with it, as we saw, there wasthat interception that he did,
throw that got called back andthen he had that the odd one
craft that anzalone like had inhis hands and dropped it.
It's like that's the jordan lovethat you get scared of making
those bad decisions.
So you're glad that those gotcalled back.
It's not going to show up onhis box score, but we remembered
those and we're like okay, nowwe maybe see why matt lafleur
(25:31):
said let's go conservative alittle bit here in the second
half, kind of just not put thebrake on, because you don't want
to put the brake on completely, but maybe don't get crazy with
it and just let your, becausethe defense was playing so well.
Why would you force the number?
Why would you force it?
The defense is playing so greatuntil they stop playing great
and you have daniel wheelan whocan flip the field so easy why
(25:53):
get crazy with?
it just let let the let thosethings work themselves out.
So I was okay, I mean, with theconcern.
So like, all in all, were youokay?
Second half it seemed like Idon't know if they got
conservative, but it seemed likethey kind of slowed down.
Were you okay with that in thatsecond half?
Speaker 2 (26:07):
yeah, because at the
day they weren't giving up
anything on defense and withyour right tackle being out and
you want to make sure thatyou're protecting jordan too,
yeah, I'm okay with that.
I mean, it was one of thosetimes where, you know, belton
would got a couple snaps atright tackle, so I was fine with
that as well.
But at the day, you know, youhad the game in the bag, you
were pretty confident with theway things were going.
Yeah, like why should I sitthere and think about it like
(26:30):
this too?
You don't want to put too muchon tape.
You know it's week one.
You know you want to keep teamsguessing a little bit.
You don't want to puteverything out there.
So again, I think in the pastwe've had situations where in
the second, come back and try toplay better, you know.
Or like we saw last year, wherethe defense played well in the
(26:51):
first half and, oh sorry, wewould get behind early in the
first half and then the defensewill wake up in the second half,
but now you're down four scoresand your offense needs to now
play catch up, right, yeah, sothis is one, that one of the few
times where in the last two, three years where we were able
to not only score first onDetroit, but then also stymie
(27:11):
them at the same time too.
I haven't seen us have acomplete game like this in a
very long time.
That's, I think, the mostencouraging thing with
everything.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
No, it's been like a
year or two.
At least it's been a while.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Detroit comes to
Green Bay, and they basically
made it like Ford Field Junior.
It was embarrassing.
Yeah, you know, basically madeit like fort field junior.
It was embarrassing.
Yeah, you know, he had so muchhollow blue in the stands too.
It was just like I love.
Oh, he was.
Yeah, when you call that out, Iwas like my man, I appreciate
it, I was all for it.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I was like you do it,
man, you you tell them because
it is a problem.
It is definitely a problem, andI know there's a lot of fans
out there who don't want to hearit, but you got to stop selling
your tickets off to lions fansI, just because they're going to
pay top dollar for it.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
I don't care Of
course, and my thing is like I
understand everyone's hurtingfor money, but, man, like
there's something about the loreof Green Bay.
When you come to Green Bay andyou just see in the stands our
colors only, you may see alittle bit of our team, but very
rarely.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
And over the last few
years that has really kind of
taken a turn, which I don't likeat all.
It's what makes philly phillyit really is.
You get them crazy, terriblefans up there, like that lady
who stole that home run ballfrom that poor kid, and it's
just like it's just like, yougot those fans out there and
that's what makes exactly great.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
That was a philly on
philly hate too, I think.
Philly on philly fan likephilly fans don't know what to
hate sometimes yeah, yeah,exactly.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
They hate their team,
they hate each other.
It's a whole thing, philly fansare different.
They're built different outthere.
They don't know what to hate.
That's why Reese Hoskins lovedwhen he came to Milwaukee,
because he's like thank you, Iget out of that, because they
don't know whether they'resupposed to hate me or love me,
because I'm on their team rightnow If hate me or love me
because I'm on their team rightnow if I'm struggling they're
(28:47):
gonna hate me.
That's all that.
Oh, that's all that I knowthere.
So let's look ahead.
Commanders coming up heretomorrow that's gonna be a big
game.
The first thursday night game,or not first thursday night, but
first thursday night for thepackers there.
It's the first one on prime, isn't it?
I believe?
Speaker 2 (29:01):
yes, it is first one
there.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
So I mean, yeah, you
get to watch it on fantastic
amazon prime, so great foreverybody who gets to do that.
But what are we looking at?
So what do we want to seeagainst this Commanders team
from the Green Bay Packers?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I think, on offense,
I kind of want to see them
continue pushing the balldownfield, trying to be
aggressive and trying to dictateto the defense how they want to
go about this game.
I think our defense, if itkeeps playing the way it is you
can take your shots, you canmake a couple mistakes.
(29:36):
You have a defense that canhelp make up for it right.
They said Jason Wolde had agreat thing on one of his shows
just recently.
He said that how LaTroy Butlerand Reggie White and those guys
would tell Favre hey, you playyour game, don't worry about
making mistakes, don't worryabout making interceptions,
we'll get you the ball back.
(29:56):
And more often than not theydid and I feel like you're going
to see maybe a little bit ofthat in Green Bay.
On offense and on defense, Ikind of just want to see us find
a way to contain Jaden Danielsright, because he is a superstar
.
If he's not a superstar already, he's a superstar to make it
right and he has a very likealmost like eloquent way that he
(30:20):
plays.
And I mean that I'm a big LSUguy anyways, I'm a big Jaden
Daniels guy but just the way heplays it's like almost like he's
graceful out there and we haveto take full advantage of their
offense line.
Their offense line is young.
They have a couple rookiesstarting.
Brandon Coleman's a first-yearguy.
You have Josh Connolly Jrrookie at the right tackle spot.
You need to take advantage ofthese guys.
And Cliff Kingsbury is a goodplay caller.
(30:43):
But LeFleur again, he's had hisway with Quinn and with
Kingsbury, so I'm hoping that wecan continue that success.
What do you think?
What do you think are our bestshots here?
Speaker 1 (30:55):
I really want to see
the run game get going.
I really do, I know we'retalking a lot of crap about him
right now and I know this is agood command.
What we saw, in week one atleast, and it was against the
Giants, but I mean we saw apretty good run defense.
I want to see this Packers teamcome out and own the line of
scrimmage.
I don't care, and you know MattLaFleur, I thought he did a
good job play calling, but Ithought he could have done a
better job trying to spread itout a little bit.
(31:16):
Maybe trying to spread it outfor Josh Jacobs, trying to, you
know, extend the defense right.
And I think Josh Jacobs involved, because if you're in a playoff
game against the commanders, ifthey can just sit on your pass,
that's where Jordan Love mightget scary.
So you got to be able to relyon a big back like Josh Jacobs
to help carry the load, to helpcarry this team where you want
(31:38):
it to go.
So I'm looking at the run game,I'm looking at this offensive
line and I'm saying, all right, show me what you got Elton
Jenkins, you want to get allthis money.
Show me what you got canard, you want to earn some playing
time.
Show me what you have here, sean ryan, I mean all these guys
.
They're kind of all in thatlimbo right now show me what you
got out there and we're gonnasee who's gonna make their
money's worth right now.
So that's where I'm kind of atright now is I want to see this
(32:00):
offensive line earn it, becausethe past they did pretty good.
Pass block, I mean, the pastpass block was pretty darn good
because, like we said, aidenHutchinson and et cetera, we
didn't hear a lot about him.
So the pass block pretty darngood.
Run block I mean it wasn'tterrible.
I'm not saying it was terrible.
There were some moments, but itjust never really got going.
And I just want to see thembecome road graders.
(32:22):
I just want to see a game wherethey just come out and play
bully ball own the line ofscrimmage, own the trenches.
You went in the trenches, youwork your way out.
I want to see him win in thetrenches because I know the
defense can and I want to seethat again.
I know the defense can.
I want to see his offense willown the trenches and from there
then we see the pass game getgoing, then we see all this
stuff happening here.
So that's where I'm at rightnow.
(32:42):
But before I let you go, we sawsome news and I just want to
break it down really fast herebecause I got to get going here,
because I got to get to theback from a break talk a little
brewing.
Get out of here for the dayChristian Watson gets signed to
an extension.
One-year extension there.
No Dobbs extension, no, nothinglike that, but a Christian
Watson extension.
Just give me your thoughts.
(33:03):
Just quick thoughts on that.
Love it.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
I love it.
He was supposed to be Goody'sfirst round wide receiver pick,
but the Minnesota Vikings didn'twant to play ball, so then he
was the first pick of the secondround.
He signed him to a $13 millionextension, so he's good until
basically 2026, gives him achance to come back from his ACL
and not have to feel like he'sin a lame duck year.
I guess you would say right, and there's an opportunity to
(33:27):
show that he's healthy and thenmaybe earn even a bigger
contract.
Easton Butler just put outsomething saying that multiple
teams have reached out to GreenBay asking for the availability
of Romeo Dobbs and that there'slike two offers on the table
right now.
I say no, thank you.
I think that Dobbs and Lovehave a real great connection,
but I think when we come backafter the bye week and we see
(33:49):
watson, golden reed and dobbsout there and a four wires here
split with tucker craft, I can'twait.
You talk about speed on speedon speed with reliability.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
let's go hey, you're
talking wicks and musgrave, yet
you guys yeah, I didn't eventell you yet they're.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
They're in the wings
waiting, so for me, I think it's
a great signing.
I think he has proven Watsonhas proven time and time again
he's not just an amazing personon the field.
He does everything correctlyoff the field during interviews
he's just an ultimate teamplayer.
For a guy who could reallyprobably get really upset and
(34:27):
mad about not getting the ballthis and that he's not a diva
and I know that gets thrown outa lot for receivers but he's
just a really good team player.
He's a glue guy.
He's the right dude that youhave for your culture and I
think you reward people likethat.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Yeah, no, I agree, I
like it there.
So, Elmer, I got to run here.
Let the people know where tofind you out there across social
media.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
