Unknown (00:03):
Bets, it's time to
combine a guilty little pleasure
with a new healthy habit. Kickup your feet and listen in. This
is wisdom and chocolate.
Bets Danko (00:13):
My name is Bets
Danko, and you are listening to
wisdom and chocolate. It's timeto drop the mask. It's time to
understand who you are and standin the power of knowing your own
thoughts. It's time to make surethat you're walking into your
future fully armed with anunderstanding of what matters to
(00:37):
you, what's on your mind. Whoare you? These things take
thought. They take reallysitting with yourself and
spending the time understandingwho you are. And this is
something that a lot of peoplejust don't even do. You get up
in the morning, you take care ofwhat you need to take care of
(00:58):
before you head off to work. Youdo your job. When you're at
work, you react to what's goingon around you. You listen to
other people's stories. How manypeople actually sit and listen
to what's going on in their ownminds? How many people actually
take the time to understand whatmatters to them so that they can
(01:18):
motivate themselves orthemselves and have a more
fulfilling life. How many peopleactually do that? Well, while I
don't know a percentage of theoverall population, I can tell
you that probably 95% of thepeople I know, people who are
around me, those people don'tself assess. They don't take
(01:40):
down the mask. They don't allowthemselves to experience who
they actually are. So it'simportant that we take the time,
that we make a shift, that weallow ourselves to have 1015,
minutes in a day to bask in thethoughts that we're having,
(02:00):
allow ourselves to get to knowwho we are. That's another thing
that I notice, is there are somany people who think that who
they are is the label thatthey've given themselves, and
many of those people are walkingaround with labels that somebody
else gave them, so they tookthat as truth, and they've just
sort of filled the role, butactually who they are is very
(02:24):
different. Their thoughts, decide that their understanding
of the world around them, theirmorality, the way that they show
compassion, all of these things,to create an understanding of
who they are. It's not thelabel. It's not I'm an
accountant, I'm a mother, I'm abarista. It's not that. That's
not who you are, that's what youare. That's very different. So
(02:48):
who are you on the inside? Takedown the mask, even that. That
mask is not just up for otherpeople. We wear the mask around
ourselves when we don't want toface who we actually are. So
take down the mask, and then ownthe thoughts that you have, own
the emotions that you have, allow yourself to step into
something a whole heck of a lotmore strong now, really,
(03:11):
allowing yourself to focus onyour thoughts and know who you
are takes courage, and Iacknowledge that sometimes it's
easier to just live with Thelabels somebody else has given
you, because there areguardrails. You know who you are
based on what they've told you,and you know what it takes to be
that person. So you sort of stayinside the guardrails, and you
(03:31):
don't ever venture out intosomething else. It takes courage
to venture out. It takes courageto admit, you know what, I want
to be the world's best chef andshow. So I need to, like, get
rid of all this extra baggage, all these other thoughts and
what people told me I am, andstart doing the work to become
that chef. It takes courage todo that. But here's the thing,
(03:53):
you've had courage all of yourlife. You woke up with courage
when you were born. You You hadthe courage to scream. You had
the courage to ask for food. Youhad the courage to take your
first steps. You had the courageto go to kindergarten. You had
the courage to be a 12 year oldwhere we're all so confused
about life and the hormones arekicking in and we don't know
(04:15):
what's going on in our bodies orin the world. You had the
courage to go through that. Youhad the courage every age of
your life to have relationships,to experience new things, to
make mistakes and to recoverfrom those mistakes. You had the
courage your entire life as arepresentation of courage. So
(04:36):
use the courage to allowyourself to think like an
individual. Allow yourself the1015, minutes a day to sit in
your own thoughts and reframeyour life. If you want something
different, think somethingdifferent. If you want to feel
excited about life, choose tofeel excited about life. Don't
(04:58):
listen to the people. Aroundyou, be an individual, be
somebody who allows yourself thespace to experience your courage
all over again. So the chocolatethat I want to talk about today
is Choco. Love Hawaiian seasalt. This is a non GMO bar,
(05:19):
dairy, gluten, nut and egg free.
There are 440 calories per bar,so take little squares at a
time, right? And there's poetryon the inside of the cover. Who
knew what a beautiful thingpoetry on the inside of the
cover. What is that poetry likeinside your life? Is there
poetry in you. I mean, we wetalk about wisdom and chocolate,
(05:42):
they're sort of married, right?
It's two two things, coexistingin the world and making life
beautiful, right? So if that'sthe case, then there's something
about that chocolate, aside fromthe yummy, from the yumminess,
that might be part of you too.
Perhaps it's the poetry insideof you. What kind of poetry are
(06:02):
you speaking? Is it beautiful,or is it pulling you back and
pulling you down? What is thatpoetry and how can you rewrite
it so that it's somethinguplifting and powerful? Spend
time inside that lovely mind ofyours. Please allow yourself
that time and really look at thebeautiful words. Are they
(06:27):
forming poetry? Are they sort ofjust coming in every once a
while, like fleeting moments?
Are you writing the poetrycontinually, or does it require
you to focus on that. So let meexpand on the poetry thing for a
second, because I don't meanlike, Roses are red, violets are
blue, sort of thing, like actualwords. What I'm talking about is
(06:51):
the beauty of the understandingof who you are and where you're
going. That is poetry, and itonly happens when you are
allowing yourself to thinkbeautiful things. Now, poetry
isn't always beautiful.
Sometimes it's pretty harsh andit's crazy, and maybe that's the
poetry that's going on insideyour brain, but it's time to use
different words. It's time torephrase and reframe, spend time
(07:14):
in that mind of yours so thatyou could hear the poetry that's
going on and change it intosomething that is more
uplifting, something that allowsyou to face the world with
courage, allow yourself thepoetry of life, so that you can
move forward understanding whoyou are now. Clarity is within
(07:37):
you. This is something that youit's sort of like a muscle that
you have to work with. Sometimeswe have ideas of what we want,
and we sort of travel into ourminds. We realize that's not
what's going on in our minds, and then we have no idea how to
move forward. Well, what'srequired is clarity. You must
have clarity in your life inorder to succeed at things. Yes,
(08:02):
you could be the sort of personthat everything is just it just
appears in front of you, and youdidn't need clarity. Somebody
just deposited a beautiful thingin front of you. Some people
have lives like that, and that'swonderful. And maybe we all have
had that at some moment in ourlives, right? But most of the
time, what happens is there'ssomething going on and we don't
(08:24):
understand what's going on. Sowe have to look for the clarity.
We have to create the clarity, and we have to exercise the
muscles that help us to do that.
And how do you do that? Here wego again, back into your mind.
Think about it. Think about thething that you need clarity on.
(08:46):
Why do you want it? Why do youneed it? Why are you even
considering going for it? Knowthose things first and then. Who
do you need as a mentor? Who doyou need in your court to help
you get to where you want to go.
Is there anyone else who hasaccomplished this in your life?
Can you sit down have aconversation so you sort of
(09:06):
build your community so that youget this clarity, and then you
start writing out all the keycomponents to getting to where
you want to be. This helps youfind clarity. And once you write
all of those things out, assess, kind of sit back and go, Okay,
this is more work than Ithought. Does it really mean
(09:27):
this much to me? Or I am so muchmore excited now? Yeah, this is
a huge amount of work, but now Iknow how to get where I want to
go. If you are one of the peoplewho are doing the first thing,
sort of second guessing anddeciding maybe this isn't what I
want to do. That's okay, sometimes that happens, but it's
important that you literallylabel that moment with an
understanding that this didn'tmean enough to you to go for it.
(09:50):
It's important that you label itthat way so then it's not just
this thing that well, I alwayswanted that, but I. Never went
for it. No, I made a choice. Imade a choice, and I'm owning
it. I lowered the mask, Istopped listening to the world
around me, and I startedthinking for myself, and in that
moment, I didn't want to do it.
(10:13):
And if you're having secondthoughts or you're regretting
that choice, then declare inthat moment. But now I'm ready.
In other words, don't sit thereand like regret all the things
that happened before you had thecourage to stand up and say, No,
this isn't for me right now.
Instead, celebrate theopportunity to make a different
choice and move forward onceagain. But own the choice, drop
(10:34):
the mask, have the courage inyour thought to be an
individual, allow yourself towrite the poetry of your life in
a more appealing and beautifulway by spending the time in your
mind and figuring out where youactually stand on everything who
(10:55):
you are As an individual isimportant. You are not like
anybody else in your circle.
You're not like anybody else inthe world. Every single life
experience you have has made youdifferent from everyone else,
and every one of those thingsallowed you the opportunity to
(11:16):
express courage in order to moveforward. That was a learning
experience for you. So embracethat, feel compassion for
yourself, give yourself grace, because clarity lies within, and
the only way to get that clarityis to allow the grace, allow
yourself to connect with yourthoughts and who you are on the
(11:38):
inside, and then walk forward asan individual, everyone has
something beautiful to bring tothe world. And with that in
mind, I designed energy daily.
