Have you ever found yourself clinging to the past when God is clearly calling you forward? Today's powerful Easter meditation on Mark 16:1-8 explores this very human tendency through fresh eyes.

The women who approached Jesus' tomb that first Easter morning weren't met with the celebration they might have hoped for. Instead of finding Jesus waiting for them, they received surprising news from an angel: "He isn't here." These three simple words represent a profound spiritual principle that resonates throughout our faith journey. Jesus wasn't lingering at the empty tomb – He had already moved ahead, expecting His followers to seek Him in new places.

This revelation challenges us to examine where we might be spiritually stuck, staring at empty tombs or clinging to past experiences when Jesus is calling us forward. The resurrection wasn't merely an ending to death but the beginning of a dynamic, forward-moving relationship with Christ. Just as the angel directed the women away from the tomb toward Galilee, Jesus continues to lead us into new chapters filled with purpose and meaning.

The women's trembling response mirrors our own hesitation when faced with divine redirection. Change, even good change, often triggers fear. Yet this Easter account reminds us that following Jesus means embracing the adventure of faith – leaving behind the comfortable and familiar to pursue where He leads next. Where is Jesus guiding you today? Will you follow Him beyond the empty tomb into the fullness of what He has planned? The story of your faith is still being written, and it requires not just belief in the resurrection, but the courage to follow the resurrected One wherever He leads.

Today is Day 109.
He is not here.
We'll be.
In Mark, chapter 16, verses 1through 8 from the New Living
Translation.
Saturday evening, when theSabbath ended, mary Magdalene,
mary, the mother of James, andSalome went out and purchased
burial spices so they couldanoint Jesus' body.
Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to

(00:48):
the tomb On the way.
They were asking each other whowill roll away the stone for us
from the entrance to the tomb.
But as they arrived, theylooked up and saw that the stone
, which was very large, hadalready been rolled aside.
When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in
a white robe sitting on theright side.
The women were shocked, but theangel said don't be alarmed.

(01:10):
You are looking for Jesus ofNazareth, who was crucified.
He isn't here.
He is risen from the dead.
Look, this is where they laidhis body.
Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is
going ahead of you to Galilee.
Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is
going ahead of you to Galilee.
You will see him there, just ashe told you before he died.
The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and

(01:36):
they said nothing to anyonebecause they were too frightened
.
Sometimes I wonder if theResurrection Sunday story could
have turned out a littledifferently.
You know, something like theangel saying he's risen and
surprise, here he is.
Then there would have been hugs, laughter, happy tears and
maybe even dancing.
What a celebration that wouldhave been.
But instead the angel says heisn't here, he's already gone

(01:59):
ahead of you.
Wait, he's not here.
So where is he?
You Wait, he's not here.
So where is he?
There wasn't an invitation tohang around the empty tomb and
wait.
Instead, it was a call toaction, a call to follow Jesus
wherever he's leading next.
I love that reminder, becausesometimes I get stuck wanting to
stay exactly where I amcomfortable, familiar and safe.

(02:21):
But Jesus doesn't want us stuckstaring at empty tombs or
holding onto old things.
He invites us to move forward,to follow him into a brand new
chapter filled with purpose.
Today, let's not stay wherewe've always been.
Jesus is alive and he's leadingus forward into an incredible
story, one that's still beingwritten in your life and mine.

(02:41):
So here's the question youshould think about this week
when is Jesus leading you today?
Will you follow him?
