In this episode, Marketa opens her heart about the struggle of battling negative thoughts and the powerful reminder her fiancé gave her: it’s time to think differently. Life will always “life,” but how we respond makes all the difference. Join her for a 30-minute journey into shifting your mindset, speaking positivity into your world, and inviting God to guide you with the question, “Show me how.”

Through personal reflection, practical tips, and guided shadow work prompts, you’ll learn how to:

• Catch and reframe negative self-talk.

• Build a daily practice of affirmations and gratitude.

• Use shadow work journaling to uncover the roots of your doubt.

• Strengthen your willpower and find healthy outlets for your emotions.

This episode is your reminder that you don’t have to stay stuck in negativity—you can choose another way. Grab your journal, take a deep breath, and let’s walk this path of growth, faith, and self-discovery together.

Guided Reflection/Journaling Prompts:

1. When did I first start believing negative things about myself?

2. Whose voice do I hear when I doubt myself—is it mine, or someone else’s?

3. What do I gain from holding onto this negative belief? What would happen if I let it go?

4. How can I begin speaking to myself the way God speaks to me?

I encourage you listeners to write these down and sit with the discomfort. Shadow work isn’t about judgment—it’s about awareness and healing.

Practical Tips to Reframe Negativity :

• Tip 1: Affirmations with Intentionality → Start mornings with 3 positive declarations.

• Tip 2: Gratitude Journaling → Write 3 things you’re grateful for each night.

• Tip 3: Speak to God Honestly → Instead of only asking “why me?”, shift to “God, show me how.”

• Tip 4: The Reframe Exercise → Every negative statement, rewrite it as an empowered statement.

• “I can’t afford this” → “I’m learning how to manage my money so I can afford what I need.”

• “I’m failing” → “I’m still in process, and God isn’t done with me yet.”

I’d like to share the Catch, Check, Change method:

1. Catch the negative thought.

(Notice the negative thought without judgment.)

2. Check if it’s truth or fear.

(Ask, “Is this truth, or is it fear speaking?”)

3. Change it into a declaration or prayer.

(Replace it with a declaration or prayer. Example: Instead of “I can’t,” say “With God, I’m learning how.”)

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
