As promised in our previous email, today we’ll cover how

to improve the quality of your live videos using software.

The software in question is an encoder.

We won’t go into the specifics of how encoders work. However,

the bottom line is that if you want creative control and

top-notch quality, you need an encoder.

Encoders are what your favorite streamers use to:

>> Stream consistent high-quality video and audio.

>> Add overlays.

>> Add custom emotes.

>> Stream video from computer screens.

>> Create custom backdrops from a green screen.

>> Monetize the stream.

Given that encoders result in very high-quality live

video, you’d only need them when streaming on platforms

like YouTube and Twitch.

For casual platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok,

streaming with an encoder would be overkill (and a waste

of time!).

Here’s a list of software encoders that are verified by

YouTube, shop around and see what suits your needs best.

Some are free, and some are paid. We recommend choosing

something from this list that’s been verified by YouTube,

as you’ll want something safe, legitimate, and reliable.

Once you’ve downloaded an encoder, all you have to do is

connect your hardware (like a mic and a camera) to the

computer that has the software encoder.

From there, enter the URL of your YouTube live and your

stream key in your encoder, and you’re all set!

You might have noticed that there are also hardware encoders.

These are usually for large-scale productions with multiple

cameras and audio streams.
