In this episode of Yeah The Gals, I was joined virtually by the incredible Dr. Kelly Needham, Owner & Founder of Coastal Goddess and a passionate advocate for women's health.
Dr. Kelly's journey into medicine was anything but traditional. Starting out as a Radiographer and Sonographer, she realised she wanted to do more than just diagnose patients. So, in her 30s, while juggling 4-year-old twins, she made the bold decision to complete her Bachelor of Medicine.
She went on to specialise in Radiation Oncology, but after three years, she made the difficult choice to walk away—both for personal reasons and due to challenges within the hospital work culture at the time. Despite feelings of failure, her strong sense of self led her to pursue something she was truly passionate about.
After working for several years as a surgical assistant, Dr. Kelly reassessed her path and made a total pivot. She founded Coastal Goddess, a women’s health clinic designed to provide cosmetic and intimate health treatments in a safe, nurturing, and down-to-earth environment—helping women feel empowered and confident in their own skin.
Her dedication to women’s health extended beyond her clinic. Dr. Kelly became actively involved in fundraising for WomenCan, a charity supporting research and treatment for gynaecological cancers. But in an unexpected twist of fate, just over a year ago, she found herself reading her own test results—revealing that she was one of the 18 women diagnosed with cervical cancer each day. This placed her in the very seat of the patients she had been supporting and advocating for over the years.
To say it has been a rollercoaster for Dr. Kelly is an understatement. From opening her own business to dedicating her time to fundraising, navigating her own diagnosis, and everything in between, she has remained steadfast in her mission to support and uplift women’s health, confidence, and empowerment.
