In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with the incredible Grace Sclosa — boss girl, business owner, hairdresser, and the heart behind Something by Grace salons.
At just 16, Grace was hopping on trains to Chatswood to start her hairdressing apprenticeship. After finishing her training back on the Central Coast, life would lead her to a very special chapter — joining the team at Studio N by Nico, where she formed lifelong bonds with Nico and the incredible women she worked alongside.
It would be some unexpected news about Nico’s health, followed by the next few years of ups and downs, that Grace would decide to do something she’d always wanted to do, open her own salon.
Taking the learns and guidance of the memorable Nico, and with husband Jarrod (who helped bring her vision to life), Something by Grace was born.
But life had more in store. Just a few months after secretly marrying surrounded by their 14 nearest and dearest, Grace received devastating news about her Mum’s health — a turning point that shifted her focus entirely for the year that followed.
Now, with two salon locations and a heart full of lived experience, Grace opened up so beautifully about juggling business ownership while navigating profound personal grief, and the raw realities of resilience, healing, and hope.
💬 We talk:
Following your passion even when life gets messy
How mentorship and friendship can shape your career
Navigating grief and running a business
The importance of community and support networks
Continuing to show up for yourself, even on the hard days
Grace, thank you for sharing so vulnerably and honestly — you are such a light and a true inspiration. Your journey is a testament to bravery, heart, and hustle. 🤍
