(00:10):
Hello. This is Adrianne from Always
Home Yoga, welcoming you to season 3 of the Yoga Saved Me
podcast. We'll continue to talk with
yogis about why yoga is so important to them and offer
meditation, yoga nidra, and movement practices.
My wish for. You.

(00:31):
Is to be. Well.
Hey, good morning, it's Adrienne.
I woke up at 4 something this morning.
I think I went to bed early and I'm catching up on sleep.

(00:52):
I did read something recently that even if we catch up on
sleep on the weekend and take naps, it is better than not
getting enough rest. So I just wanted to give a
morning affirmation. I know it's Saturday weekend for
some meaning don't have to work weekend minutes for some means
still on the grind. Whatever your situation is to

(01:15):
Saturday, Saturday morning for something in the morning for me
here in Sweden, I will be going back to sleep.
But I got up and I took some chamomile tea and I thought, you
know what, let's do an affirmation for Saturday and is
today I will focus on what makesme happy.

(01:39):
Today I will focus on what makesme happy.
Now what if you have to go to work?
It's OK. Hopefully you have a job that
you love or that you like or that you're good at and you have
your colleagues that you get to see.
Focus on what makes you happy either inside or outside of
work. You got to get to work.
Maybe your breakfast is going tobe what makes you happy today,

(02:00):
what you wear, how you approach your job today, how you approach
your commute. Focus on what makes you happy.
Maybe you'd make me be happy if you rode your bike to work
today. Make it work for you.
So today's my Saturday. I want to rest.
I'm going to get in my sauna bag.
That makes me happy. I know I have some work to do.

(02:21):
It's Saturday, but my work makesme happy.
So I'm going to focus on the happiest aspect of my work.
I love to cook, so I'm going to make sure that I cook delicious
meals that makes me happy, kind of try to be with my family and
have quality time that makes me happy.
You know, you don't always control other people's schedules
though. So focus on what makes you

(02:44):
happy. And if you try to include other
people and maybe they can't do it, that's OK.
Still do what makes you happy. That's our affirmation for
today. But also want to do a breath
breathing exercise because you can never go wrong with a
breathing exercise. So let's do bumblebee breathing

(03:08):
really easy. If you're going to make like a
bee, it's a fun one. Be a little child.
Like if you told a 2 year old what's a bee, what does a bee
sound like? They would probably run around
the room imitating flight, little arms, like little wings
and they would make the sound. So we're going to inhale and

(03:31):
then the exhale is when we're going to do the bumblebee
breathing. It's going to come through your
lips. I moisturize mine.
It's harder if my lips are dry. Maybe sip something but simple
bumblebee breath. So that exhale was coming

(03:56):
through my mouth and because my lips were pursed, I could get a
lot more breath out. If you noticed that let's do
that three more times bumblebee breath you just inhale and then
you exhale. Make like a bee imitate a bee

(04:25):
anybody Bumblebee breathe in with me one more time just to
practice. Now my lips are I put actually
it was Burt bees. I put Burt Bees lip balm on and
maybe just take a sip of something.
I have chamomile tea here, let me do that because my mouth does

(04:45):
feel a little dry. So we make like AB one more
time, one more round of bumblebee breathing.
We did our affirmation, which isI'm going to do what makes me
happy today. I will focus on what makes me
happy today. That's not going to make you a
selfish bee or a bad person. Focus on what makes you happy

(05:07):
today, right? My camel mol tea, I put some
honey in it, some local honey because I feel like I'm in
allergy season, right? That's going to make me happy.
That's going to help me hopefully go back to sleep.
I woke up early today. It's 4 something almost 5:00 AM
where I'm in Sweden. So our affirmation was I will

(05:28):
focus on what makes me happy today in our breathing, one last
round of bumblebee breath. So you inhale and on the exhale
make like a bee. Hopefully that calms you down.

(05:59):
The vibrations that I trigger inin my mouth and through my
throat stimulate the vagus nervewhich runs through our bodies,
which is connected to our parasympathetic nervous system,
which which triggers the rest and relax, rest and digest.
So good morning, good Saturday morning, Our affirmation.

(06:22):
I'm going to focus on what makesme happy today.
You've got that bumblebee breathyou can do any time to calm
yourself down. I'm going to continue with my
chamomile. Oh, I put a limb, a lime wedge
in it too. So that's it.
Have a wonderful beginning of your day.
