Erin Gray (00:00):
Welcome back to your
Money, your Rules.
Today I want to talk aboutsomething that we rarely think
about when it comes to abundance.
It's not your money, it's nottime, it's not love, it's your
thoughts.
Our thinking is one of the mostpowerful currencies, I believe,
that we have and, just likemoney, you can spend it in ways
that deplete you, that have youdoubting yourself, or you can
(00:24):
invest it in ways that expandyou.
Okay, so let's talk about theenergy of spending our thoughts.
Think about what happens when wespend our money unconsciously.
Maybe we impulse buy, or wemight over consume, or we try to
fix an internal lack feelingwithin ourselves by purchasing
(00:48):
or doing something from anexternal place to try to fill
that hole within us.
Now imagine your thoughts arebeing spent in the same way.
So think about if you areoverthinking, ruminating on past
mistakes and I don't like touse the word mistakes, but a lot
(01:09):
of times we do use that word so, lessons learned if you've
gotten to that place.
But, like, think about if youare overthinking decisions that
you have made in the past.
Are you worrying about whatcould go wrong in the future?
Are you comparing yourself toothers?
Are you mentally rehearsing howit's actually not going to work
(01:33):
out, and I don't think a lot ofus would say, yeah, I'm
actually doing that, but that iswhat we are doing when we're
worrying about it not workingout.
So when we doubt and we worrythat our businesses won't work,
or our podcast or our book orour workshops or whatever it is
that you are spending timethinking won't work instead of
(01:55):
knowing it will, we arerehearsing it not working out,
and I look at these as mentalexpenses that really yield no
expansive or productive return.
They create emotional debt.
When you think about thethought, when you think that
(02:19):
something's not going to workout, I want you to always then
ask the next question how do Ifeel in my body?
So scarcity mindset isn't justabout what's in your bank
account or how you feel in yourbody.
It's also about how you arementally rehearsing lack and how
often you are doing this.
So what I think about investingand investing our thoughts is
(02:46):
it's intentional, it's long-term, it compounds over time.
I don't think it's always.
I mean, I think it's sexy, butyou know, in the beginning it
may not feel sexy.
It doesn't give you thisimmediate.
You know, dopamine hit that ourbodies are craving only because
we haven't practiced it enough, but over time it will.
(03:10):
But the return, I want you tothink about what you are doing.
When you start shifting the waythat you think and you start
investing your thinking insteadof spending it, it feels
expansive, it compounds overtime.
How you feel in your body, howyou move through the world, is
vastly different when you investin the market, putting in that
(03:34):
certain amount of money everysingle month.
In the beginning it may notfeel like that it's really doing
much, but over time you canprobably attest to this.
One day you wake up and youhave a million dollars in your
account and it's because youwere disciplined enough to stay
(04:03):
with it on a consistent basis.
So investing your thoughts aregoing to look like visualizing
your next level self, with adeep sense of trust and feeling
like what that feels like inyour body and acting from that
place, talking to yourselflovingly to reinforce your
identity and being your biggestsupporter, thinking through
ideas and solutions from a placeof possibility and fun.
Like, what would I love?
(04:23):
Like that's a question I askmyself all the time.
What would I love?
Reflecting on curi, you know, with curiosity instead of
judgment, and intentionallytalking to yourself and telling
yourself how much love andappreciation that you have for
yourself, how far you have comeand for doing this work and for
feeling joyful anticipation forwhere you're going.
(04:44):
I think so often the way thatour brains are wired, we look at
something and we don't thinkabout how far we've come.
We think and we look and seehow far we have to go, which,
again, that doesn't feel verygood in the body and I tell this
to clients all the time.
There is no right or wrong here.
It's just what feels better inthe body, what moves you to
where you want to go.
You know, thinking highly ofyourself, knowing that you're
(05:08):
going to have what you want, trusting the decisions that you
have made, that feels good inthe body when you think about
like your auric field or youknow, my one of my mentors calls
it like your creator field.
It's, it's all the same, butbeing that person that invests
in their thoughts creates likeyou think about your auric field
(05:30):
.
It can become more expansive orwider because of your frequency
.
You're more magnetic.
It allows your authentic selfto come out and that is powerful
and that attracts more of whatyou're actually wanting.
So I'm going to talk about threeshifts that can help you from
spending your thoughts toinvesting them.
(05:51):
First, notice the withdrawallike ask, ask yourself is this
thought creating peace and powerand presence and love?
And if it's not, then take abreath and say something to the
effect of like, I don't spend mythoughts this way anymore.
Like, I also use the, thesentence like.
(06:11):
Up until yesterday, I was aperson who, or as of today, I do
X, y, z, like, think about, ifyou were going to talk to your
child or you were going to talkto your best friend, would some
of the thoughts that you'rethinking would they fly or would
you be like, absolutely not.
That's how we want to treatourselves.
So thinking thoughts like I ammy biggest supporter.
(06:33):
I speak kindly and lovingly tomyself.
Our thoughts, they create aphysical sensation in our body.
So when we are used to speakingthoughts that create doubt and
worry and fear, our body isgoing to go through withdrawals
because it is used to feelingthose vibrations.
So nothing has gone wrong here.
(06:55):
We're just training our body tobecome addicted to a higher
vibration emotion like love, joyand abundance, like what I have
noticed in my body when I startto, let's say, if I, if I'm
expanding more feeling of easeand joy it's not as as intense
(07:16):
as it used to be, but thosethoughts around money would come
back in to kind of keep me backin line.
So you have to notice what'shappening, which means slowing
down.
You have to pay attention.
What are the thoughts or thebeliefs that you're having right
now?
That's creating this sensationin your body and then powerfully
choosing what is a thought or abelief that you're going to
(07:37):
have to feel differently.
Okay, so choosing intentionalinvestments.
So this is you know I talkabout this on previous podcasts
Like I don't think we have towork hard for many.
I don't believe that anymore.
What I do think that we have tobe very attentive with is our
mind, and so this is a constantredirection.
(07:57):
In the beginning, you know, I,for me personally, I was
constantly redirecting becausemy habit was to focus on what
isn't working, what could gowrong.
Like worry was a natural.
I would say it was a naturalstate for me.
I thought that it wasproductive, I thought that I was
planning for all of thecontingencies, but what I was
really doing it was justplanning for what was going to
(08:19):
happen.
So think of it likeweightlifting you get better the
more that you do it and avoidlanguage.
I always like to pay attentionto clients language and I have
them pay attention as well.
And you know, when you saythings like it's hard or I
struggle with, use more neutrallanguage, like just use the
(08:40):
words or the language.
Like we're just more practiceat speaking disempowered
thoughts than we are atempowered thoughts, so it's not
hard to change.
You're not struggling with this.
Like so often I hear people say, well, I'm really struggling
with this, like scratch thatfrom your vocabulary.
I'm practicing, working on orI'm in the process of changing X
(09:03):
, y, z, like really start to payattention to your language and
change what you are saying aboutyourself.
And then the third thing I woulddo is create a daily thought
practice.
So what are the thoughts thatyou want to be on autopilot?
I'll give you some of mine.
Everything that I do works LikeI am the magic.
(09:23):
I am a gift to my clients andto humanity.
I trust myself and my intuition.
It is my best business toolthat I have.
I love myself unconditionally, and so it's not just about
saying those things to you, it'sto yourself.
It's actually about saying themand then taking action.
(09:44):
So when I was working on, Itrust myself and my intuition.
It's my best business tool.
What did I do to implement it?
I started listening to myintuition and I trusted it.
And so when someone would tellme or an advisor would tell me
something and I would say, no,I'm getting a no for that, you
know they would come back andthey would say, well, what about
this?
And I would check in with myintuition again and I would ask
(10:05):
myself so it's like you have to,not just the affirmations, but
it's also the anchoring in inyour body.
And you do that by takingaction.
This is what I think mentalinvesting looked like it
compounds beautifully over time.
You know your thoughts are verycreative, they are magnetic.
(10:26):
They literally create avibration and have a ripple
effect.
So start asking am I spendingthis thought out of fear or am I
investing it in my future?
You know you are worthy ofhaving an amazing, vibrant,
incredible life, and it startswith our thinking.
So until next time, I encourageyou to invest your thoughts
(10:48):
wisely and I'll see you in thenext episode.
