Good morning everyone. It is now five oh one on

Speaker 6 (01:42):
Darryl Blackburn has been charged with six felony charges.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
That is the Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg yesterday
announcing criminal charges in the twenty twenty two eleuction after
two years of investigation.
Speaker 7 (01:57):
Blackburn was in charge of supplies that out at many
polling sites on election day, but he was at his
other job while claiming county time.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
A public servant who did not serve, who instead poleice
taxpayers for his salary.
Speaker 7 (02:11):
His actions caused long lines and voters had to be
turned away. County gopachair Cindy Siegel says Judge Lena Hidago
and preaching one Commissioner Rodney Ellis deserved as much blame
as former elections administrators Isabelle Longoria in Clifford Tatum.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
There was no one managing.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, who was watching the shop? This occurred under their watch.
Speaker 7 (02:32):
I knew vote was ordered at one judicial race from
that election. Cliff Saunders News Radio seven forty KTRH and.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
We'll be talking live with the District Attorney og later
this morning here on Houston's Morning News. She'll join us
at seven twenty. County commissioners have revived the Uplift Harris
Guaranteed income program, you know, the money giveaway to the
people they choose, even though a court struck it down.
They're trying a new angle the state rule that cannot proceed.
(03:01):
Charles Blaine of Urban Reform says the new plan will
likely be shot down as well by the courts.
Speaker 8 (03:08):
They're retooling the program using debit card, limiting what people
are able to purchase with the money and doing all
these reforms to then make it compliant with state law.
And now we'll see if that works, but I have
a high doubt that it will.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
At the end of the day.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Yeah, commissioners will vote on this new version of the
plan tomorrow. Remember, as a loaded Democrat majority on that court,
there's a single Republican. Former Houston mayor Sylvester Turner wins
the nomination to run for Chila Jackson Lee's congressional seat.
He was chosen by Democrats the precinct judges in that
(03:42):
congressional district. He beat out more than fifteen other candidates,
including Jackson Lee's daughter, Erika Lee Carter. Nationally, primaries were
held in four states. Squad member Ilhan Omar did defeat
her challenger in Minnesota, so she advances to the regular
election after losses though by Corey Bush and Missouri and
Jamal Bowman in New York. In this cycle, there was
(04:05):
some hope that the Squad would be de squatted. It
is now five oh five. Donald Trump delivering a major
economic speech today in Ashville, North Carolina. Yeah, his economy
the campaign says that he talks about the economic hardships
created by the Biden administration.
Speaker 9 (04:27):
The more we focus on policy and our vision for
the future, the more successful we're going to be. The
less we focus on that, the less successful are going
to be.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
That's the bottom line on this election.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Vivek Ramaswami on Fox Business Now, Trump will be speaking
three pm our time, and even as word comes in
now that the official total of Donald Trump's interview with
Elon Musk Monday night is now nine hundred and ninety
eight million views, just shy of a billion. Yeah, he
(04:57):
talks people listen at BI now investigating a leaked report
that sensitive documents from the Trump campaign were stolen during
a recent hack the campaign, blaming Iran. Media reports say
the Biden Harris campaign has also been targeted that also
in June.
Speaker 10 (05:13):
As for the.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Democrats, vice presidential candidate Tim Wallas's past continues to be exposed.
He was very complementary of a Muslim cleric who once
shared a pro Hitler propaganda film.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
I am a teacher, So when I see a master teacher,
I know it.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Yeah, master teacher. That's what Wall said about the Imam
Asad Zaman back in twenty eighteen, and Kamala Harris's pastor
has a little bit of a problem there too. Again,
Doctor Amos Brown of San Francisco blaming the United States
for nine to eleven, just as Barack Obama's pastor Jeremiah
(05:57):
Wright did. It is now fin those six Harris acting
like she didn't play a role in the ongoing border crisis.
Oh boy, the White House accidentally though, Yeah, Joe Biden
threw her under the bus.
Speaker 11 (06:10):
They've been aligned, you know, they've been aligned for the
last three and a half years. There's not been any daylight.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Biden's spokesperson Karen Jean Carrine Jean Pierre yesterday, US needs
cooperation from Mexico in order to close the border, but
this administration not even try to force.
Speaker 12 (06:28):
The issue unless we hit their wallets. They aren't going
to help us anytime soon.
Speaker 13 (06:33):
There's no incentive at all for the government of Mexico,
the state, local, and federal governments in Mexico to secure
the border.
Speaker 12 (06:41):
Former State Senator Don hoffeind says there's steps Texas could
take even without the federal government's help.
Speaker 14 (06:47):
We can search the vehicles, the truck traffic, we can
search commercial airliners. We can stop remittedances, money transfers, back
to Mexico.
Speaker 12 (06:57):
Huffine says this, along with other economic moves, could help
treat the root causes of the border crisis without causing
legal battles. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
H Biden administration approves another twenty billion dollars in weapons
for Israel, as the Jewish state is on high alert
for an attack. Expected attack from Iran.
Speaker 15 (07:18):
Deter a wider regional conflict, prevent a regional war in
a very tense Middle East.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
At Pentagon spokesman General pat Ryder, even as the Taliban
at Bagram Air Force Base used to be ours controlled
by China. Now they got all those weapons. They celebrated
three years. It's the third anniversary of US leaving in disgrace.
Five oh seven is our time? Boy, did the Astros
(07:49):
roll a lucky seven?
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Andy Bregman lost this one on the left? Pretty deep?
It sents back Carlson at the wall looking up see

Speaker 5 (08:02):

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Mariners lost too, by the way, Yeah I just had.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
That hadn't finished. Astros have opened up a one and
a half game lead now in the al West. I'm
sure we're friar a news radio seven forty k t
RH defense.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
On full guide on my side, making the twenty twenty forty.
Speaker 16 (08:34):
Like shady man like no other stay and then no
use Radio seventy forty k t.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
RH and the score was fifteen to one, Wow against
the Marriners.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Fible nine is our time you ever heard of this?
We're talking about psychotherapy yesterday and how it seems like
every teenager out there either is seeing a psychiatrist or
a counselor or is on medication or all of the
above because you have a hard time coping. And here's
another story today about something called compassion fatigue, when you
(09:06):
just care too much and you feel like you're living
the same day over and over again. I want you
to know that I don't give a rip. I will
never suffer from compassion fatigue or anorexia either one.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
Well, they play the victim card on you. You have
to care for me because I'm such a victim.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Well, there's some cases where I can understand this. Let's
let's say, for example, you are in charge of a
family member who's had a stroke or needs care, and
you're the person that's giving that care daily. I can
see how that can wear you down, and how every
day kind of gets to be like the day before,
(09:49):
and you might need to take a break from that.
But that's what you do if you find somebody else
to help for a few days, you take a little break,
you know, a little respite from it, and then you
get right back to it.
Speaker 15 (10:00):
You know.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
It's we don't have to diagnose this as some sort
of mental health condition when all you really need to
do to fix the problem is to, you know, take
a little break five to ten time for traffic and
weather together.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Some people don't give like a flying fig correct, I
don't give a poop or whatever, you know, So I
don't know where that's going.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
One thing I'm suffering from is election fatigue at this point.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Yeah, we're getting that. Let's go downtown and it's I
forty five southbound is shut down at I ten. It's
right under there. I'm looking at the Hogan Street Bridge. Here,
fire crews are there on Trenstar's friends are telling me
that the ninjas are unseen. I see one of them
and it says they're about to pull them away. I
don't want to call this just yet. So let's let's
(10:45):
consider forty five downtown closed. So if you're trying to
make the piers to be trying to get downtown, let's
do the east text. That's an easy skip around. If
you could jump off on some of your other backways.
I love I ten to take navigation, or you take
Memorial instead of the Katie to come in. Katie's actually
going through, so there's no need to rewrote from the KT.
But it's just from the north side. Let's do that school.
(11:07):
You got Santa Fe Stafford passaing at Friendswood Deer Park.
Back on Tomball and Texas City. You're back in business today, stingerise.
Let's go to meeg from Kema. She's on the south
sam Morning sky.
Speaker 17 (11:19):
Mike headed at West Felfort. The League on the right plane,
making sure the traffic is moving over. They're doing some
work along West Felfort and then again right before the
fifty nine interchange off of the beltlane.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
All right, that's all westbound Meg from Kima. This morning's
banana sticker, and we're already off the Schulenburg Fest Skymike
and the classic elite.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
GMC traffic some from r KTRH top tax devenders twenty
four hour weather send the time to check in with
Terry Smith. And again, you know, the forecast continues to
repeat itself. It is on pete beat and repeat.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
Yes, it definitely does.
Speaker 18 (11:58):
Mother Nature is stuck on re play for us with
a little bit of rain, lots of heat and humidity.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 18 (12:05):
The temperatures are going to be getting even hotter into
the weekend, so just be prepared for the heat to persist,
then the heat advisory along with it until eight o'clock
tonight today. Those temperatures mid to upper nineties, the heat
in decks this afternoon running as high as one ten.
There's a twenty percent chance of some rain later on
this afternoon. If you missed out on the couple of
(12:27):
showers we had yesterday, maybe today's your day. Twenty percent
chance of more thunderstorms tomorrow and Friday Saturday at thirty
percent chants of rain.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Sunday's dry.
Speaker 18 (12:37):
It's Saturday and Sunday when I see our temperatures trending
just a little bit hotter for most of us in
the upper nineties to just over one hundred in the afternoon.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Right now, it's eighty at your officials severe weather station.
News Radio seven forty k TRH.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy and Sherrah with THEFO
you need to take on the day. Steve Forbes on
what he thinks President Trump needs to do in order
to make sure he wins this election, and he makes
a prediction abob what happens at the top of the
Democrat ticket between now and the end of the convention.
(13:16):
So stand by for that first though. At five twenty,
traffic and weather together as we check out the drive
once again to sky Mike, you're going to.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Call it forty five still closed. I see the edge
of some vehicle here. I'm having to look through the
Hogan Street bridge. This is forty five downtown I forty
five where it hits I ten and it's not messing
up by ten If you can get through from the
west side, Katie to the baytown side. You're okay, it's
forty five. That's the trick. Let's do the east text.
Take that Jackson's treet exit. If you're trying to go
(13:42):
downtown or if you're going through town, just work your
way through the canyon. For now, I'm Skymike and Theegenerator
Supercenter dot.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Com Traffic Center from r KTRH Top tax Defenders twenty four.
Our weather center. Mostly sunny with a slang chance for
a stray shower, storm ninety six today, partly cloudy ninety
seven tomorrow, and then partly cloudy Friday with a high
ninety eight. And as Terry said, we're looking at probably
low one hundreds for the weekend. Temperature right now is eighty.
That your official severe weather station. News Radio seven forty KTRAH.
(14:11):
Let's get you caught up on some of our top
stories this morning. Here's Shera.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
It is now five twenty one on news Radio seven
forty KTRH. Our headlines are sponsored by D and m
Audoleasing HPD announcing the retirement of the interim Chief Larry
Satterwhite after thirty four years on the job. He will
be the next director of the City's Office of Public
Safety and Homeland Security. Oh, he's retiring from that one position,
moving on to another. Starbucks, facing declining sales, has hired
(14:39):
Chipotle CEO Brian Nickel as its top new executive or
new top executive. I should say, okay, Kamala Harris campaign.
Guess what they're doing. They're rewriting news headlines from other
sources in her favor in Google search ads.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Great, so they're altering. They're just altering the news.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
People use Google sure a good way to get the
word out, even if it's a lot. The latest news
anytime at kgorh dot com. Our next update is at
the bottom of the hour.
Speaker 19 (15:11):
Defense on Full of God on my Side, making the
twenty twenty four like.
Speaker 16 (15:15):
Shady man, like no other Stay in the no Use
Radio seventy forty kt RH.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
I would even think that this would be that interesting
to share with you. I see Steve Forbes all the time,
and you know he's he's obviously a smart guy. He
knows a lot about the economy. He he he really
feels very strongly what President Trump needs to focus on
between now in November and the campaign. But that's fairly obviously.
He starts with that, But listen carefully, because after that
(15:45):
he makes a very unusual prediction that kind of made
a light bulb go off for me, like, yeah, I
could really see this happening. Here's Steve Forbes.
Speaker 20 (15:57):
Stick the message as you've been hammering home very very
basic issues. Don't go try to be humorous about moving
to Venezuela and all that kind of stuff. Stick to taxes,
the economy, inflation, the border, and national security.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Hammer those and then end up with a question.
Speaker 20 (16:14):
We keep asking, are you better off today than you
were four years ago?
Speaker 4 (16:18):
You have your answer, and.
Speaker 20 (16:19):
Don't get sidetracked on her what she does or doesn't do.
Just focus on those issues. That's what people want to know.
How do we move ahead and then we can turn
this around, just as three weeks we've seen a big
flip flop. Who could have thought that she would be
the new queen or whatever whatever? Second coming? Well, three
four weeks, five weeks can flip again. And the other
(16:41):
thing to watch out for, and I hope they're preparing
for it as a contingency. What if Biden resigns after
the convention?
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Oh really, what if he.
Speaker 20 (16:49):
Resigns and she orders an airstrike against Iran?
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Oh my gosh. Wow, I hadn't thought of any of that.
Speaker 20 (16:56):
So they have to be prepared go on offense and
say Wren would not have needed to be attacked as
I had them, as he said last night on their
knees when I was president. So be prepared so he
can hit maybe in advance.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
That don't be fooled. You are one of the few,
and you stuck to it.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
You were there.
Speaker 21 (17:15):
Early looked good, then it looked loss of good. But
you always said Biden would not run, and you were
correct about that. So you're saying, possibly he would just
step away she becomes the president, Well you do it
through the twenty fifth amendment.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
No, you just say he just resigned.
Speaker 20 (17:33):
Just resigned this time to pass the torch, and then
momsy ran.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
She wouldn't have the you know what's to do that
would she? I don't know, well, to win an election.
Speaker 20 (17:44):
The Progressives are ready to have her do anything because
they know she's ultimately on their side. And you know
what's going to happen to defense spending, which has already
been under pressure if she gets in with that crew.
So the assets are already there in the Middle East,
doesn't have to be much just say, oh yeah, I'm
commander in chief from by golly, I'm willing to defend America.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
I can see that happening.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Oh yeah, seriou as it can be, because you know, again,
the Taliban is celebrating the third anniversary of our withdrawal
and made him the largest arms dealers in the world. Sure,
with all the equipment we left behind. Sure, and the
same brain trust that did that, they would be still
(18:26):
there under Kamala Harris, We'll think of a thing. I mean,
they could very easily do this. They've all they've messed
up the world. And oh, we can't elect somebody else
during a war.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
I mean, well, then that's the point I wanted to
make it. Take a look at history throughout history, when
the United States has been involved in a war, we
almost universally have re elected whoever the commander in chief
at the time. Is not wanting to change whoever's at
the top because we're involved in a war that could
go into the thinking as well. Five twenty six. All right,
(18:57):
time to take a look at your money, Courtney Donaho,
good morning.
Speaker 20 (19:00):
Well, good morning, Jimmy.
Speaker 22 (19:01):
Inflation is a focus for Wall Street this week. Yesterday's
report on producer prices showed inflationary pressures are easing, and
that gave a bump to stocks. The Dow jump four
hundred and nine points, the S and P five hundred
gained one point seven percent. Now this morning, futures are
a little changed ahead of this week's key event, July's
Consumer price report, out this morning. The data may determine
(19:22):
whether the Federal Reserve will be able to start cutting
interest rates next month. Candy giant Mars is expected to
announce a nearly thirty billion dollar deal for pringles and
cheese at maker Kelenova today, according to The Wall Street Journal,
Kelenova was spun off from Kellogg last year and sells
brands including Eggo, Waffles and pop Tarts.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
And as we gear up for.
Speaker 22 (19:41):
Football season, the Cowboys once again the most valuable NFL franchise,
worth more than ten point three billion dollars. That's according
to analysis by Sportigo, the La Rams ranking second seven
point eight billion dollars. The Texans came in twelfth at
a little more than six billion dollars. So I'm according
to Dona Hope Bloomberg Business on news Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 23 (20:04):
Houston's News why there were traffic, plus breaking news twenty
four to seven. This is News Radio seven forty KTRH

this sounds a little desperate, happy meals for adults. Details

(20:39):
let's check out that morning You like that ideas guy mine?
All right, all right, let's I'll tell you what. First
of all, we've got downtown. We've switched cameras on this one.
Those of you that played the home game. This is
forty five North Freeway. I'm still calling the North Freeway closed.
This also closes off your peer elevated forty five.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
We had a wreck on the ramp that takes you
onto item where you had tod the big chars there
after the bet someone bridge it Ten's okay, you can
get from the KD side. It's forty five. That's the trick.
That's an easy skip around for now. It's your east
text Freeway to get around here on the two edighty
eight north bound at Belfort look Out. That's a big
old stall truck.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
I had a possum in my fandom.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Thank you, Schera. We are in the Generator Supercenter dot

eight minutes. Right now, it's eighty at your officials Severe
Weather Station. News Radio seven forty KTRH. It is time
(21:43):
now for the news. Here's Sheriff Ryer.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Good morning is five thirty two on news Radio seven
forty KTRH and our top story.
Speaker 24 (21:50):
This hour all the issues that working class families are feeling,
whether it's inflation, the legal immigration, all those issues at
top of mind.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
She's all over it right, and she's on the wrong
side of it.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Missouri's Senator Eric Schmidt. There, he was on Fox Business
pointing out that eggs are up twenty five percent since
the time that Biden and Kamala took office. Were still
waiting for Harris to unveil her economic platform. She has
only so far copied Donald Trump's no tax on tips pledge.
Trump gives a major economic speech himself, he will outline
(22:23):
his plans moving forward. That will be three pm hour
time as he campaigns in Asheville, North Carolina. You think
the focus would be on policies when voters cast their ballast,
but much of the conversation has been about personality at
a time when policies couldn't be more important.
Speaker 10 (22:43):
I think the media at some point will have to
start asking questions, and that's when things are.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Going to get interesting, because she's not good at that.
Speaker 10 (22:50):
She's not good at answering questions in real time.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
Political analyst Tom givet Jivnanti he told k t Arasha,
when the media finally does put pressure on Harris, well,
he thinks things will get very interesting. We had a
rare Joe Biden sighting yesterday while he spoke at a
cancer Moonshot event in New Orleans.
Speaker 25 (23:10):
For mobilizing the whole country effort coud American Cancer deus
and half by twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
By twenty twenty uh twenty twenty four, Biden the President
did correct himself after the fact, five point thirty three
is our time? How evil is our so called Department
of Justice? Rebecca Levrenz, known as the J six praying Grandma,
has been ordered to pay the largest ever misdemeanor fine
(23:37):
in US history one hundred three thousand dollars, sentenced to
twelve months of probation six months of house arrest because
she walked into the tourist section of the Capitol and
prayed on January sixth. Biden has five months left in
his presidency and he's going to radically try to change
(23:59):
the Supreme Court on his way out.
Speaker 7 (24:02):
President Biden's proposal to enact term limits and guaranteed appointments
for every president to the Supreme Court is it passing
muster with legal scholars Constitutional lockxpert Elia Shapiro tells Fox
the devil is in the details.
Speaker 26 (24:14):
Is this just a court packing by another name? In
terms of getting rid of the longest serving justices who
happened to be Clarence Thomas, John Roberts and Sam Alito.
Or is there some sort of grandfathering in such that
we expand the court because every presidential term under the
plan gets two justices.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
Kamala Harris supports the plan too, but Shapiro says it's
virtually impossible to succeed since it requires a constitutional amendment.
Corey Jolson, who's Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
Harris County DA kim oggannow's six corruption charges against the
former election administrator employee, Darryl Blackburn over the twenty twenty
two botched elections in this county. Blackburn was responsible for
the ballot paper, the ballots themselves, by the way they
ran out at many locations, primarily Republican majority precincts. Texas
(25:05):
Rangers are involved in this continuing investigation. It is now
five thirty five. July's inflation numbers will be out at
seven thirty this morning, and that would be consumer inflation. Yesterday.
Wholesale inflation rose point one percent in July. They say
it was lower than expectations and that's set off a
big market rally. Year to year, the Producer's Price Index.
(25:28):
That's what we were told. The PPI is now at
two point two percent inflation. It's down from two point
seven percent in June. It's typically lower than what the
consumer price index is, and again those inflation numbers come
out at seven thirty this morning. A new AI software
that recommends ideal rent prices for landlords now raising a
(25:51):
lot of concerns about price fixing inside the real estate market.
Speaker 27 (25:56):
This is probably a technique and something that the larger
apartments and landholders that are at leasting these things out
are utilizing, probably from a time and money savings perspective.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Real estate investor Easton make as he told KTRH, it
probably started out with a good intention, but like so
many other AI products, it creates significant gray areas. We
told you yesterday that car insurance rates are already up
fifteen percent through the first half of twenty twenty four,
a total twenty two percent increase projected to be in
place by the end of this year. It's now five
(26:32):
point thirty six more kids heading back to school this week,
and more districts having issues with bus stops and bus routes.
Aldine i ste says it's working through systematic challenges to
ensure that students make it to school safely and on time,
whatever that means. We told you that cell phone used
by students a major issue for parents and schools. No
(26:52):
state law against them, but State Education Commissioner Mike Marath
hinted that he would be in supportive.
Speaker 28 (26:58):
One in reading in math peaked in twenty thirteen and
has declined since then, and this corresponds with a significant
explosion in the use of smartphones.
Speaker 5 (27:09):
A Pew Research poll found that one third of the
nation's public school teachers say students being distracted by cell
phones is a major problem in their classroom. It's five
thirty seven now. In Austin, state lawmakers trying to ban
foreign ownership of Texas land once again. A legislative hearing
this week focused on a Chinese company that wanted to
(27:29):
buy one hundred and thirty thousand acres to set up
a wind farm near Laughlin Air Force Space. Anyway, the
state the Senate did pass such a law a bill
last session, but again the Rhino led House of Dade
Feelin didn't pass it. Astros b Tapa Bay three to two.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Stay alert and be prepared.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
On News Radio seven kt RH. Would would this make you?
Would this make you happy? To have a happy meal
like when you were a kid, Remember when your baby
boomer dad took it to McDonald's every week.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Back when my veins could stand the cholesterol.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
You mean, I swear my kids ate so many chicken McNuggets.
I surprised they and turn it into a chicken McNugget
so they look. They love those happy meals, love love
loved him And evidently that's what McDonald's is counting on.
Is that nostalgia? Yep, nostalgic when all but sure, when
all else fails, nostalgia wins the day. Totally trying too, Yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Think they're probably still inside my system.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
They probably are. And if you're got to get on
the shelf from back then. You could probably still eat them,
might be a little dry anyway, they're introducing something called
collector cups. I'm not sure it's it's a meal, you know,
it's a burger and fry kind of a meal. Like
you know, I don't know what kind of burger you
get with it, or what size fry, or what size
drink you get with it, but you get a collector cup,
(29:26):
and the collector cup is where the nostalgia comes in.
All the collector's cups are based on things that were
very popular in the nineties and early two thousands McDonald's itself,
Coca Cola, Hello Kitty, Peanuts, Beanie Babies, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Shrek,
Jurassic Park, Minions, all those types of.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Things for us or going for millennials, No, exactly.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
They're they're going for our kids. Yeah, they're going for
our kids because those kids now are like, Hello Kitty,
forty forty five years old. Their kids are growing up.
You know, they're trying to get get them to come
back to McDonald's because that that generation was probably the
biggest McDonald's customer. I mean, I didn't I didn't take
my kids McDonald's because I wanted to go to McDonald's.
They wanted to go to McDonald's. So they're hoping they
(30:08):
can bring that Nostaalgier back five forty time for traffic
and weather together for that? What's that guy on for that?
Speaker 2 (30:15):
I would love to get a little slinkies.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
If you want to go in there and get a
beat baby cup, your little.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Rubber ball, some little toy, you know, toys for boys
and McDonald's.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
It's just a cuff though.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
I just brought you a toy.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
I see that too, Terry. Did you see that?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Did you see it?
Speaker 5 (30:27):
Is to hang from your car mirror.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
I think I'm gonna leave it on my microw. Are
going a toy that you hang from your car mire?
I gonna find out more about that.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
On my social media. I'm super easy to find, Terry.
You'll see a minute too. Let's go I forty five downtown.
They moved these cameras. There's the toe treck ninjas on here.
Let me hold that as a closure for just a minute,
because this guy's not completely out of there, and I
want everybody to see. There's a guy he's walking around
and it's this is a North Freeway forty five southbound
(30:55):
after the b Someone Bridge. We're gonna call that close.
See now we've blocked a lane again, so let's don't
do forty five downtown. Y'all jump on the east text.
If you're trying to get downtown tech to Jackson Street
exit Katie Freeway, We're still good to go.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
But if you see some.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Kind of blockings that I'm not seeing, hit me on
the tip line seven one three two one two tips
Hardy's whole road, not the airport connector. Don't have an
accident there. That's southbound. This is the right lane, though
he's called a stall. Just watch out coming down from
nineteen sixty we'll do ship channel bridges at five point
fifty in the classic elite.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
GMC traffic Center from r KTRH Generator super Center twenty
four hour where the center Terry Smith is here. And
we're just going to keep on going with the same forecast.
This is saving a lot of paper, by the way,
and I'm just gonna tee up front.
Speaker 18 (31:41):
Do not have Skymike decorate.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Now shareff put that on my microphone.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
Look on my Facebook, y'all.
Speaker 15 (31:46):
I did.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
So cute.
Speaker 18 (31:49):
Okay, I gotta let you go okay, all right, Yeah,
the forecast isn't changing much. Twenty percent chance of a shower,
thunderstorm today, tomorrow and Friday Saturday, maybe a thirty percent
chance of rain.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
Here's the deal.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
It's not the rain, it's these.
Speaker 18 (32:04):
Hot temperatures and the high humidity. So we have a
heat advisory again until eight o'clock tonight. Temperatures today miduffer nineties,
but the heat in decks could run as hot as
one tenth. Same thing tomorrow and Friday. Over the weekend,
we're going to be looking at some triple digits as well.
So this isn't going away anytime soon.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Debitcha right now, still, lady at your officials, Severe Weather Station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH. What you need to know
for the day ahead.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
This is Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New
South Windows Solutions.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
Five to fifty one is their time here in Houston's
borning News. Coming up in just a moment, we're going
to talk to Charles Blaine. He's the president at Urban Reform.
You may have heard that, like most progressive policies, just
because the court tells them they can't do it doesn't
mean they're going to try to do it anyway, the
Uplift Harris Guaranteed Income program, that's socialist program. They're trying
to revive it. We'll have more than that story coming
(32:58):
up in just a moment, but first we've got traffic
and weather together, and that starts with you skuy Mike.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Clear pitching from the stretch here. It's forty five. Okay,
I don't want to clear stuff while they're still pointing,
even though they've got the lanes open. So now we
can clear forty five. Keith the news clear forty a
thank you. Cleared forty five for US East Texas now
smashed up southbound. That's my fault. I will zoom your
bridges at six o'clock in the classic elite GMC Traffic Center.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
From our KTRH Generator Supercenter twenty four. Our weather center
for today mostly sunny' slight chance of a straight shower
storm ninety six and then part of the cloudie tomorrow
and Friday. Looks like ninety seven ninety eight degrees right
about that for both of those days, early eighty at
your officials, Severe Weather Station News Radio seven forty k TRH.
We're checking out some of our top stories here on
this Wednesday, Here's shaf.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
It's five fifty two on news radio seven forty k TRH.
Our headlines are sponsored by Moral Mechanical, a Harris County
elections worker hit with six felony corruption charges related to
the twenty twenty two election. It's a start. Texas Attorney
General ken is suing General Motors GM for collecting private
information from vehicles and selling it to several third parties,
(34:09):
including insurance companies Ford and Mazda issue but do not
drive advisory for more than four hundred and fifty thousand
vehicles because of issues with aging airbags. I fought funny
about saying that sounds like me the.
Speaker 30 (34:25):
Last news anytime at kt Orhtuck corself. I yeah, but
I wonder how many people think that our next Updake
is at the top of the hour.
Speaker 11 (34:37):
I will proudly put my record against him.
Speaker 19 (34:40):
She's absolutely terrible your decision twenty twenty four headquarters is
use Radio seven KTRH.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
We're talking about giving money for nothing. I don't know
about the chicks for free, but money for nothing something.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
Like twenty million dollars in federal funding, of course.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
And they wouldn't want to lose that when it runs out.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
Well, then Harris County taxpayers will be on the hook
for it.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
Exactly. Nothing has changed with that, but evidently Harris County
is not giving up.
Speaker 5 (35:06):
Charles Blaine probably has some good input on this.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
I'm sure he does, he's president of Urban Reformed. Well, yeah,
they've got legal hurdles they have to get over, Charles,
how are they going to get over the legal.
Speaker 31 (35:15):
Hurdles, Well, they haven't really explained how they're going to
get over them.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
They're just trying to sidestep them.
Speaker 31 (35:21):
Really. They put a couple of provisions in this new proposal,
simply like giving debit cards that they can monitor and
then putting some guardrails on what people can spend it on,
and they hope that's going to help them avoid legal challenges.
But I just really don't see how this is going
to change anything.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
What they originally propose as whole uplift program. It was
found to be outside unlawful state law prohibits something like
this happening. So now they're trying to do an end run,
so we'll have to go back to court again.
Speaker 31 (35:49):
Well exactly, I mean in Harris County taxpayers are going
to be playing twice for it, right, because we had
to pay for the legal challenge both from the state
side and then from the defense side if you live
in Harris County. And then now we're going to go
through the same process again as the state is likely
going to challenge the legality of this, and I would
assume Harris County is going to put up a defense
and lose. And so it's ridiculous that we're going through
(36:10):
this yet again because they made some minor tweaks and
hopes that this will suddenly make it legal.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
What kind of changes do they make, do you know?
Speaker 31 (36:17):
So what they're saying is that they previously they were
going to give this money and they were just going
to give it via direct deposit and if you didn't
have a checking account, then you can get some sort
of like cash balance card from the county. Now all
of the money is going to be distributed on to
a debit card. So it does give the county the
ability to see what people are spending on, and they're
also putting some balance, some guardrails in terms of what
(36:37):
they're allowed to spend it on, trying to restrict it
to basic needs. And so they're saying that if they
do that, that should bring them within the bounds of
the law and make it legal. I think they're trying
to make it more like a you know, a SNAP
or a WICK a food benefit program more than anything else.
But I still don't think that they're going to be
fully within the bounds. I mean, we've seen this happen,
and it's going to keep happening.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Okay. The thing that strikes me about that is there's
there's not a lot of guardrails on the SNAP program.
There's not a whole lot of things you can't buy.
You know, you may not be able to buy cigarettes,
but that's one of the few things, or maybe alcohol,
but there's very few things that you can't buy on
that particular program. So who do they have to satisfy?
The state or the federal government when it comes to that.
Speaker 31 (37:17):
Well, technically they're supposed to be satisfying the state because
I mean, as a jurisdiction of the state, Harris County
needs to be able to it is required to say,
within the bounds of state law, and so they have
to satisfy state law. And so, yeah, I agree, the
SNAP program does not have a lot of guardrails. What
was crazy is that this program had even fewer. You
would think that that'd be hard to do, but it's crazy.
But so they're trying to satisfy state law so that
(37:39):
they can keep this program alive, and it's just I
don't think it's going to be possible because what state
law says is that you're not able to give out
a public benefit of a public good as just a
gift to a person. And we're still doing the same
thing because this was given through lottery where people signed
up and they were picked randomly if they, you know,
adhere to a number of requirements, and then we're just
(38:00):
to be hanging out without any sort of work requirement
or anything else. And there's still no checks and balances
in terms of limiting kind of how people are giving
feedback to the county on what they're doing. Now they
can look at what they're doing, but there's still no
further restrictions. I mean, it's still pretty free, willing and
deal in the same way that we saw with the
first iteration of the program.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
And basically they have to create a bureaucracy in order
to administer this program, and so we end up with
more bureaucracy on other people's money.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Yeah, just what we need, all right, Charles, thanks for jod,
I appreciate it. That's the President of Urban Reform, Charles Blaine.
It is five point fifty seven. This is Huge Radio
seven Katie rh Houston.
Speaker 1 (38:42):

Houston's morning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett along with Sheriff Ryer Monger.

election charges coming. Harris County is trying to bring their
socialist program back, give a new life, and coming up

be prepared for some TV traffic details in the minutes ahead. First,
(39:15):
we're gonna check out that morning drive again. Here's sky Mike.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
All right, we cleared Eye forty five downtown. That was
the merge after the b someone bridge. That accident has
gone and we're actually looking great on forty five the
peerce elevated side. It's not affecting the Katie Freeway coming
in now, We've got a new scooch on the other
side East Text Freeway southbound right past the ball park.
He's right there on the side. It's just enough to
(39:39):
squish every This is not my fault. We're backed up
from quipment Skymike and Theegenerator Supercenter, dot Com traffic Center.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
From our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four hour weather center.
Mostly Sunday today, it's like chance of a stray shower
storm with the HIG temperature about ninety six. Look at
Terry Smith in here from the weather Channel with your
complete forecast in about nine minutes. Right now, still lady
at your official weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH.
It's time out for the news. Here's Sheriff Ryer.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
It is now six oh two on News Radio seven
forty k TRH, our top story this hour. It's been
two years since the twenty twenty two election debacle in
Harris County, and now criminal charges have been filed against
a worker who was in charge of supplies for polling sites.
The district Attorney, Kim Ogg, says that Darryl Blackburn also
(40:27):
falsely claimed work for the county while he was actually
working a second job.
Speaker 6 (40:34):
The investigation found no evidence of intent to impact the
outcome of the election, but there is a lot of
evidence to show that mister Blackburn's crime did impact the.
Speaker 5 (40:47):
Election intent they can't exactly prove. Oh voters were turned
away at several polling sites and primarily Republican turnout locations
because that's who showed up to vote. They ran out
of ballot paper on election day. We're going to be
talking live to the da kem Ogg in the next
hour around seven to twenty. Reaction from the county GOP
(41:10):
chair woman Cindy Siegel. It wasn't just that Blackburn had
two jobs.
Speaker 30 (41:16):
It went on for fifteen months where he was quote
working from home.
Speaker 18 (41:20):
When they found out he had another high paying job,
he was ripping the county off.
Speaker 5 (41:27):
Siegel says. A former administrator, Remember elections administrator Clifford Tatum
still has a county job and he needs to be
fired more. County Democrat shenanigans too. They're bringing back the
Uplift Harris Basic income program despite it's outside of Texas law.
Speaker 32 (41:48):
Commissioners voted to revive a new version of it even
though the state halted it, and so.
Speaker 8 (41:52):
It seemed like they're trying to redirect this thing from
the dead like Frankenstein, and I don't understand why because
in all likelihood it is going to be shot down
again by the Attorney General.
Speaker 32 (42:00):
Charles Blaine of Urban Reform says the retooling of this
idea won't help their case, and time spent on this
could be used instead to create something actually productive.
Speaker 8 (42:09):
You can create a workforce development program for a fraction
of the cost that we're spending the twenty and a
half million dollars on this, and it actually gives people
tools to then make money themselves.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
He says.
Speaker 32 (42:17):
This money could also be used to solve our budget crisis.
Andre Perard News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 5 (42:23):
Former Houston mayory Sylvester Turner is going to run for
Sheila Jackson Lee's congressional seat in November. It's a special election.
He earned that nomination in a vote at precinct chairs
last night. Four states held primaries yesterday, including Minnesota Squad
member Ilhan Omars. She narrowly held off a challenge for
her seat. She did win. Two other Squad members were
(42:46):
kicked out of Congress by voters during the primary season.
It is now six ' oh four. About a billion
people watch Donald Trump's interview with Elon Musk on X
Monday Night a billion people. Florida republic and Congressman Byron
Donald's told Fox they saw that unlike Kamala Harris, Trump
has plans.
Speaker 32 (43:08):
Donald Trump has the vision, the policies, and the prescription
to fix what's happening in our country.
Speaker 5 (43:15):
Trump will be giving a major economic address at three
pm today in North Carolina. FBI now looking into leaked
reports that sensitive documents for the Trump campaign were stolen
in a recent hack. The Biden Harris campaign was also targeted,
they say. Back in June, Democrat VP candidate Tim Wallas
(43:36):
held his first solo campaign event yesterday in Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
We respect our neighbors and we respect their personal choices.
Speaker 5 (43:44):
Yeah, except he did set up a hotline during COVID
for neighbors to rat it in each other for not
masking up if they went outside. Retired Command Sergeant Major
Tom Barons calling out Walltz for claiming he was a
retired commands sergeant major when he was not. He told
Breit Mart that, look, he didn't complete the required classes
(44:08):
to get into that position. The Command Sergeant Major Tom
Barns who filled that spot? Did it is six six.
New polling shows that seventy five percent of registered voters
support sending troops American troops to the border to stop
the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. That Biden
(44:31):
and Harris have facilitated. Texas trying to fight the symptoms
of the border crisis, but there could be an economic
way to actually address the root causes.
Speaker 14 (44:41):
We can search the vehicles, the truck traffic, we can
search commercial airliners. We can stop remittedance's money transfers back
to Mexico.
Speaker 5 (44:53):
Hit him in the pocket book, former State Senator Don Huffeyes.
He says just a few of economic measures Texas could
take to force Mexico to start help solving the problem.
Oil futures up again this morning, with prices close to
seventy nine bucks of barrel gasoline is above three gallon
three dollars a gallon all across the state of Texas.
(45:17):
The Kelly Bluebook average price for a new car today
checks in at forty eight thousand dollars, and if you
buy an EV, expend to spend more than fifty thousand
for an EV.
Speaker 33 (45:29):
It is more expensive to make an electric vehicle versus
the typical gasoline engine vehicle, which is why we're seeing
so few vehicles last under that twenty thousand dollars mark.
Speaker 5 (45:40):
Yeah, and the point is subsidies. Carbuzz dot COM's Rosenholtz
on CBS Delinquency rates on auto loans today about eight percent.
It's the highest has been in fourteen years. Six oh
sevens are time. The Astros beat the Rays three to two.
They've now won seven straight. They're leading Seattle by a
game and a half now in the Al West. Pregame
(46:03):
tonight at five and Sports Talk seven ninety and KTRH
will join the game in progress at seven pm. I'm
Sheriff Fryer in Houston's news, weather and traffic station, news
Radio seven forty KTRH, keeping you in the know all the.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Information in real time and again the now right now,
news Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
It's going to be like nineteen twenty three in Galveston
this week, because that's what they're filming is nineteen twenty three.
It's one of two prequels to Yellowstone. Did you were
you into the whole Yellowstone thing? Share?
Speaker 5 (46:39):
I had this conversation with my very liberal friends in
New York and I told them, well, I was a
Dallas because fan, because that was more accurate. I thought
the scenery is beautiful in Yellowstone, but I just I
don't know, I never got into it.
Speaker 4 (46:54):
Well here's the good shit, But I think the good
news is the scenery is still going to beautiful. They
did Yellowstone, course, it was so popular that they when
the show ended, they came up with two prequels to it,
ones called nineteen forty four, then the on's called nineteen
twenty three. Two different settings, you know, for the for
the Dutton family that's featured in Yellowstone. This week they're
(47:15):
filming in Galveston for the nineteen twenty three show.
Speaker 5 (47:18):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (47:19):
Yeah, in the of course, because Galveston. You can make
Galveston look like it's turn of the century very easily
because you have all those turn of the century homes
which are beautiful, and you just you know, put some
old cars in there and put people in period costumes.
And Wuilat's nineteen twenty three, not.
Speaker 5 (47:33):
To mention it was a wild place with gambling and
everything else.
Speaker 4 (47:36):
Oh oh kidding, Yeah, yeah, so that should be interesting.
What's also interesting is they hired I guess the better
part of a thousand extras.
Speaker 5 (47:45):
What fun.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
So it was an Austin casting agency that did it.
So I'm sure there's a fair amount of Galvestonians who
are going to be in the movie itself. Plus Galveston
scenery is going to be in the in the in
the show. Actually it's not a movie, it's a TV show.
I'm not sure one is supposed to come out, but
I know they're filming all this week there, So between
the extras and the two hundred plus crew members and
(48:07):
production people that are there, maybe a little more.
Speaker 5 (48:10):
Hotels are going to be full, restaurants are going to
be full, and the rental properties.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
Right, but you know Galveston of course, which is still
trying to recover from barrel.
Speaker 5 (48:17):
Yeah, I mean they lost out the height of the season.
Speaker 4 (48:20):
Good for good for business and hopefully started again. Yeah,
hopefully good for tourism too. Six ' ten time for
traffic and weather together'll be hot.
Speaker 5 (48:27):
Yeah, they are have air conditioning in nineteen twenty.
Speaker 34 (48:31):
Yeah, yo, kidding. Let's check out that drive. Here's skybike.
We are going downtown. It's I sixteen nine your East
Text Freeway. I'm not sure that's a stall on the
side there by the ballpark. We actually I'm looking from Texas.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Avenue southbound by either way, he could be a traffic stop,
which I should fully understand. We're backed up from just
about Callingsworth on your east text. Now let's switch over
back to forty five. I know I have you rerouted.
Forty five is completely clear. Now I took the suckage
out of your in car navigation on the southbound two.
So if you're coming on the north Freeway, stay the
course there East tex you can. You can survive this.
(49:05):
You'll lose about three or four minutes getting down to
the Big George. On the south Loop, we're starting to
scooch up now westbound. That's the roadwork at two eighty

We're checking in with Terry Smith. Then we're going to
have a day like yesterday, and tomorrow's gonna be like today.
And you know what else can we say about it?
It's typical August weather.
Speaker 18 (49:44):
It really is. But the unfortunate thing is it persists
like there is not a lot of change in our
overall forecast. In fact, I think the biggest change we're
going to see is that the temperatures are actually going
to get hotter into the weekend.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
We do have a heated today.
Speaker 18 (50:01):
Afternoon temperatures for the most part mid upper nineties, the
heat index running between one oh five to one ten.
It'll be at the highest peak of heat and humidity
in the afternoon. We only have a twenty percent chance
of rain today and a twenty percent chance of a
shower thunderstorm Tomorrow and Friday. Temperatures are still mid upper nineties,
but over the weekend upper nineties to just over one hundred,
(50:25):
so it's a hot day. The humidity is still around
just pretty much typical Houston humidity. Thirty percent chance of
sub marine Saturday. I don't see any rain Sunday, and
right now I'm not seeing any change for the early
part of next week either.

Speaker 4 (52:55):
Tom Doveny joins US president at the Institute for Policy Innovation. Tom,
do you think it's stays that way? I think it
stays that way for a while. I think it stays
that way at least through the convention.
Speaker 10 (53:06):
I mean, every politician, I think, and every nominee has
a honeymoon phase.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
But in this case, the press is so protecting her.
Speaker 10 (53:17):
I mean, the the mainstream media has just simply decided,
I mean, all this talk about joy on the campaign
and all that sort of thing, they have just their
Joe Biden problem has been solved, and they are so
relieved and happy about it that they are going to
I think at least protect her through the convention. And
it's it's laughable the degree to which the media is
(53:41):
getting is letting her get away with not answering questions,
make not taking positions. She has taken one position on
one issue since she became the nominee, and that was
stolen from Donald Trump, about not taxing tips of workers
in Las veg So, yeah, and.
Speaker 5 (54:01):
Tom, I take exception to even talking about issues because
issues are about social policy. We're talking about policy here.
We need to be talking about policy. What is Kamala
Harris's policy on our money? What is her policy on war?
What is her policy? Because she does have a track record.
(54:22):
So let's talk about policies, not issues, which is all
about oh, social justice and abortions, and let's talk about policy.
Speaker 17 (54:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
No, you're exactly right.
Speaker 10 (54:33):
I mean, because at the end of the day, whoever
we elect as president, you know, mean tweets is not
actually going to.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
Be the issue.
Speaker 10 (54:42):
The issue is going to be what policies are they
going to implement, What are they going to do to
bring prices down and inflation down? What is their attitude
going to be toward foreign policy with our allies, what
is their attitude going to be towards the Ukraine war,
et cetera, et cetera. And I think that the Harris
Walls ticket will go as long as they can go
(55:04):
without talking about policy.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
But in the at the end of the day, that's
what matters.
Speaker 10 (55:09):
That's what will affect the ordinary Americans pocketbook, That's what
will affect our budget deficit, That's what will affect our finances.
Uh And what we know about Kamala Harris's policies is
that she flip flops. That she was when she was
in California, she thought the way to build her political
(55:30):
career was to be tough on crime. But then when
the whole Black Lives Matter thing happened and the George
Floyd riots, she flip flop and suddenly she was the
social justice warrior who was.
Speaker 4 (55:42):
Actually bailing out riot.
Speaker 10 (55:45):
Now now she's trying to be tough on crime again
with Donald Trump. So, I mean, the only what we
know about her is that she flip flops her positions
based on what you're.
Speaker 4 (55:55):
In the wind, whoever she's talking to. Let me throw
this by you here. We're just about out of time,
so I'll need a quick one on this. But Steve
Forbes on Fox said something pretty incredulous. The more I
thought about, the more it kind of made sense. He
thinks that Joe Biden resigns right around the convention time,
Kamala Harris takes over as president of the United States,
and we get involved in a foreign conflict like maybe
(56:16):
attacking Iran, for example, so she could look presidential. What
do you think of that idea? I think it's possible.
Speaker 10 (56:23):
I think it's more likely that Joe Biden resigns sort
of after the election, like sometime between November and December.
But you know, I mean, if you're Joe Biden, boy,
boy have you have you disappeared from the scene. I mean,
it's almost like nobody even cares what Joe Biden.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
Thinks or does anymore.
Speaker 10 (56:43):
And I do suspect that having pressured him out of
the race, the party is completely capable of pressuring him.
Speaker 4 (56:51):
Out of this, and I do expect it to happen. Okay,
good to hear from me, sir, appreciate it. As president

Fox's Will Kine. A billion people watched that interview earlier
this week, and today Donald Trump will unveil his economic
policy has planned for it in North Carolina. We're waiting
still for Kamala Harris to talk anything about her policies
or talk to reporters. Really, for that matter, it's not
just a race between two very different people. It's between
(01:00:14):
prosperous policy and policies that actually make our lives worse.
Speaker 12 (01:00:20):
Right now, people don't seem to be talking about those policies.
Speaker 10 (01:00:24):

they look.

Speaker 12 (01:00:31):
Political analyst Tom Jovinetti told KTRH eventually Kamala will have
to explain her policies to Americans.
Speaker 10 (01:00:38):
I think the media at some point will have to
start asking questions, and that's when things are going to
get interesting, because she's not good at that. She's not
good at answering questions in real.

We have a small portfolio of rentals and they're very diverse,

that market value.

Take us through the weekend. Terry, what are you seeing?
Speaker 29 (01:07:44):
Um?
Speaker 18 (01:07:45):
Not a lot of rain and a little more heat,
especially by the end of the week. Temperatures today Tomorrow
Friday mid upper nineties and with our just typical humidity,
the heat index will be running between one oh five
and one ten.
Speaker 5 (01:08:01):
I really think through Friday.
Speaker 18 (01:08:03):
But right now the heat advisories until eight o'clock tonight,
so heat in dex as high as one ten today.
There's only a twenty percent chance of rain today tomorrow
on Friday, so there's not a lot of change through
Friday Saturday, we have a thirty percent chance of thunderstorms.
The change is that our temperatures are going to be
even hotter for the most part, upper nineties to just
over one hundred. And we'll do that Sunday as well,
(01:08:25):
and Monday and maybe Tuesday. But there's no signs of
the heat really easing up anytime soon.

Six up fifty three at a time here in Houston's
Morning News. So, yesterday White House press conference, a reporter
wanted to know. Of course, he put it slightly different verbiage,
but he basically wanted to know why there wasn't more
resistance to Donald Trump being on X Why, you know,
because he's just gonna have misinformation.
Speaker 5 (01:11:07):
You want to know why the White House would know?
Speaker 26 (01:11:10):
Why?
Speaker 4 (01:11:10):
Yes, why yep? Why wouldn't they yet? Why wouldn't they
tell them not.
Speaker 35 (01:11:13):
To do that?
Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
So here's the reporter asking the question. In some response
from Charlie Hurt, I think.
Speaker 15 (01:11:19):
That misinformation on Twitter is not just a campaign issue, it's.
Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
An America issue.
Speaker 32 (01:11:27):
Love role.
Speaker 31 (01:11:28):
Does the White House or the President have any sort
of stopping that or stopping the spread of that or
sort of intervening it.
Speaker 36 (01:11:37):
It does underscore just how far I think far the
you know, journalistic standards have fallen over the years, but
also how zealously everybody. So many people in the left
wing press are working over time to sort of extend
this honeymoon as long as they can. I don't think
that they can do it until the election, which is
(01:11:58):
the real problem. Although I do think that she's going
to probably get another week of it, of the honeymoon,
because of the convention next week in Chicago. But I
thought that that thing last night was absolutely fascinating. You
have two of the most consequential people on the planet
today talking about real things, talking about rockets and tunnels,
(01:12:20):
and of course, you know, Donald Trump used to drive
his people crazy when he ran at twenty sixteen talking
about how he builds buildings. I build buildings. People who
do that are problem solvers. And if you listen to
that entire thing last night, they were talking about solving problems,
and you're not talking about ideologues or politicians.
Speaker 2 (01:12:39):
They're people who want.
Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
To solve problems.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
And it's very refreshing.
Speaker 36 (01:12:43):
Whether it breaks through and actually changes anybody in his mind.
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 32 (01:12:47):
But it is.
Speaker 36 (01:12:49):
I do think it's sort of the right direction if
you want to solve the problems that are facing our country.
Speaker 4 (01:12:53):
Yeah, let's solve problems. Let's stop talking about them and
let's solve them. Let's put somebody in there who can
solve the problems. We know what they are. Right time

County Commissioners. Meantime, they're pulling a fast when they're trying
to revive the Uplift Harris Guaranteed Income program, you know,
the money giveaway, even as the state found a court
(01:17:13):
to rule it cannot proceed. Charles Blaine of Urban Reform
says the new plan will likely be shot down ultimately
by the courts.
Speaker 8 (01:17:24):
They're retooling the program using debit cards, limiting what people
are able to purchase with the money, and doing all
these reforms to then make it compliant with state law. Now,
we'll see if that works.
Speaker 4 (01:17:33):
But I have a high doubt that it will.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
At the end of the day, the Monopoly Democrat Commissioner's

here was Elon Musk's idea about tackling the deficit. And
we get some reaction to it from Senator Tim Scott.
Speaker 35 (01:21:22):
I think we need like a government efficiency commission to say, like, hey,
where are we spending money that's sensible?
Speaker 4 (01:21:27):
Where is it not sensible?
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
And we need to live within our means.
Speaker 35 (01:21:32):
We're currently adding I think a trillion dollars to the
deficit every roughly every hundred days, and the interest payments
on the national debt.
Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
Have now I exceeded the defense budget. It's on the
order of a trillion dollar.
Speaker 37 (01:21:47):
First off island business guylike like those two are and
here's what you do.
Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
It's real step.
Speaker 37 (01:21:52):
Well, I did this when I became governor back in
January twenty nine, twenty eleven. The governor of the Florida
was running with deficits for you know, basically four decades.
I said, we're going to live with the re means.
What's our revenue. We're going to spend that much money,
not more. And then we went through every line of
the budget, and there's four thousand lines of budget. We
had a written purpose for each line. If you didn't
meet your purpose, I veat o the money the next year. Well,
(01:22:15):
we should be doing at the federal level, they saying
what's our revenue, We're not going to spend more than that.
And by the way, every time we spend there has
to be a return for the taxpayer.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
We don't do it.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
It's not that hard.
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
We just don't.
Speaker 37 (01:22:27):
I mean in DC, I've been up here five and
a half years. There's not the will to do it.
All right, it's not that hard to do. Every business
person does this, you know, in their business life almost
every day.
Speaker 4 (01:22:37):
There hasn't been the will to do it in well
over thirty years, which is how you rack up deficits
like this. Yeah, it really is, really is very simple.
It's just a matter of making cuts. Is there anybody
out there who doubts that there's at least ten to
twenty five percent waste in virtually every government department that
you could actually cut the budget.
Speaker 16 (01:22:58):
And they do it.
Speaker 5 (01:22:59):
That continueus. You know, they always talk about their doing
a budget, doing a budget, but they don't do a budget. No,
the constitution demands that they do. If they don't, they
do continuing resolutions. They just keep adding on, adding on,
adding on, adding on, with a certain percentage increase, you know, above.
Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
What you spent this past year. Yeah, well, some days,
so it gets ever larger. Someday it will get to
the point where it's completely out of control. We're very
we're very, very close.
Speaker 5 (01:23:24):
And then they pass spending bills omnibus. Yeah, Inflation Recovery Act,
and all that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
Yeah, right, I'm start over on this stuff. Seven eleven.

Have you seen any rain the last couple of days, No, ma'am,
not a drop. I've seen some thunderstorms pop up in
the afternoon. They are few and far between, and that
really isn't going to change. There's only a twenty percent
chance that somebody's going to get wet today Tomorrow, Friday
thirty percent chance of some rain on Saturday, and right
now Sundays looking like just dry, no rain. It's the

It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you byen New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy and Sherah with the
info you need to take on the day. So Harris
County DA KIMA called press conference yesterday. We found out
about a guy by the name of Darryl Blackburn and
what he did he being in charge of the paper
that was supposed to go to all the polling places
in Harris County, and as we only to well known,
(01:26:29):
many polling places ran out of paper and the paper
was never replaced, So he's facing a whole bunch of charges.
The question is is that it is he the one
guy responsible for this and if so, what was his motivation?
Speaker 4 (01:26:40):
Why did he do it? War Coming up with kim Ogg,
we'll talk to her next first though, traffic and weather together.

Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
Seven forty KTRH. District Attorney for Harris County, Kim Odd
joins us. We saw your press conference yesterday, Kim, and
I'm thinking to myself, who is Darryl Blackburn? And is
he Let's start with this because I think a lot
of us thought that maybe it would be much more
involved than just one person. Is this the one person
who's going to be charged? Are there more potential charges coming?
Speaker 38 (01:28:47):
There's civil liability in there's criminal liability in the law,
and this guy is charged criminally. In terms of the responsibility,
the election administrator, created by the Commissioner's Court had the
responsibility to run an election that did things effectively, ethically
(01:29:09):
and accurately, and they didn't. And their failure to supervise
Darryl Blackburn is evidence that it just didn't. I mean,
we had a really messed up election, and this individual
was responsible for the paper. The paper was the primary
cause of the election stoppage, like people stopped voting at
(01:29:31):
different polls because they either ran out of paper, there
were other problems, but the paper was the main thing.
So that is who the rangers have charged through us
with both tampering with his time sheets because he was
working a full time job elsewhere, there was clearly no
supervision to see if he was doing his job and
(01:29:51):
he didn't. And so in the middle of the chaos,
he returned from his job elsewhere in the city and
claimed eighteen hours and for the county and eight hours
for his private employer. So is he the only one
he's the only one criminally charged, but he's not the
only one responsible. This goes all the way to the
(01:30:13):
top because the election should have been run correctly, and
obviously it wasn't. We had long lines and we had
people who did not get to vote on both sides.
Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
How does it proceed from here? You are the outgoing DA,
you got primaried out and we've got an election coming up.
So does this just get buried now? Well, not by me.
Speaker 1 (01:30:36):
I mean we'll do our job.
Speaker 38 (01:30:37):
My administration will until December thirty first, and we'll hand
it over. It's an institution. Prosecutors are trained to follow
the law and to apply the evidence. But you're right,
with a new District Attorney January one, they have the
discretion to throw out their own parties cases if that's
what they want to do. Now, that's not what they're
(01:30:59):
supposed to do. And there's removal statutes for people who
get elected DA. And then don't want to follow the law,
so we'll just have to see. But I can tell
you we're going to do the right thing. And you know,
Blackburn is one individual in a pyramid of folks who
were highly paid, are well paid to do a job
(01:31:22):
that we've seen elections run in Harris County years before
without these kind of difficulties. But the commissioners created an
office now defunct because the legislature eliminated it. But that
office hired people like Daryl Blackburn, put other people in
charge of their supervision and could not run election properly
(01:31:44):
and did not, And so he was stealing money from
the county, just working one other place and taken from us.
But the real damage is to our confidence in the system,
our votes being tabulated, are they accurate?
Speaker 31 (01:32:01):
You know?
Speaker 38 (01:32:02):
Is the polling place going to be open? Is it
going to work? I think those kinds of concerns are
on people's minds. And one individual stealing one publicly corrupt,
you know, employee.
Speaker 1 (01:32:17):
Of the government.
Speaker 4 (01:32:17):
Jim, could you speak for just damage. We're about out
of time, but could you speak for just a second
about the motivation here did mister Blackburn do what he
did because he was just lazy or inattentive, or did
he do what he did because he was told by
somebody to do it.
Speaker 38 (01:32:33):
No evidence has come forth that he was told to
do anything. We never know how these situations will work out.
We say the investigations closed, but there's still a new
election to be had. There's probably other civil suits, and
if more complaints or evidence is brought to us, especially
about motivation or others involved, then of course we would investigate.
(01:32:56):
The rangers are thorough, that's why it took so long.
They interviewed dozens of witnesses, lots of election judges. They
found the needle in the haystack. But remember, responsibility goes
to the top in government, and the commissioners created an
office that was you know, subpar isn't even the right word.
They just couldn't run elections and didn't. And in part
(01:33:18):
it's because of the greed of a guy like Blackburn,
who took advantage of the system and really hurt us.
You know, one guy stealing thousands of dollars, but he
hurt millions of people.
Speaker 4 (01:33:29):
All right, Kim, thank you so much for your time.
Appreciate it. That is Harris County, DA Kim Ogg seven
twenty eight. Time to take a look at your money.

gets back to where the race was always going to be.
Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
Are you better off now than you were four years ago?
Speaker 31 (01:35:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:35:54):
Good question, Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt, he was on Fox Business.
We're waiting on Kamala Harris veil her own economic platform.
She has given a voice to copying Donald Trump's no
tax on Tips pledge, even though she instituted this new
policy of going after tips. Trump gives his major economic
(01:36:14):
speech three pm our time in Asheville, North Carolina. Today.
You'd think the focus would be on actual policies and
the past, the proven past of these candidates when voters
cast their ballots, But the media driven conversation has all
been about personality in a time, what actually affects Americans
is what's most important.
Speaker 10 (01:36:36):
I think the media at some point will have to
start asking questions, and that's when things are going to
get interesting, because she's not good at that. She's not
good at answering questions in real time.
Speaker 5 (01:36:46):
As political analyst Tom Giavannetti. We had a rare Joe
Biden sighting yesterday. He was at a Biden Cancer Moonshot
event in New Orleans.
Speaker 25 (01:36:56):
We're mobilizing the whole country effort cout American cancer half
by twenty.
Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
Twenty, by twenty twenty. No, Joe the President did ultimately
correct himself after he said twenty twenty. It is now
seven thirty three. How evil is the so called Department
of Justice under this administration. Rebecca Lorenz known as the
j six praying Grandma. She's been ordered to pay one
(01:37:24):
hundred three thousand dollars for her involvement on Jay six,
the largest misdemeanor find in US history. She was also
sentenced to twelve months of probation and house arrest because
she walked into the tourist section of the Capitol and
prayed on January sixth. Biden has five months left in
(01:37:46):
his presidency Unlessie quits looking to radically change the US
Supreme Court on his way out.
Speaker 7 (01:37:54):
President Biden's proposal to enact term limits and guaranteed appointments
for every president to the Supreme Court is it passing
muster with legal scholars Constitutional lockxpert Elia Shapiro tells Fox,
the devil is in the details.
Speaker 26 (01:38:06):
Is this just a court packing by another name in
terms of getting rid of the longest serving justices who
happened to be Clarence Thomas, John Roberts and Sam Alito?
Or is there some sort of grandfathering in such that
we expand the court because every presential term under the
plan gets two justices.
Speaker 7 (01:38:21):
Kamala Harris supports the plane too, but Shapiro says it's
virtually impossible to succeed since it requires a constitutional amendment. Coreyolson,
He's Radio seven forty KTRH seven.
Speaker 5 (01:38:31):
Thirty five now on News Radio seven forty KTRH. More
kids heading back to school this week in districts are
having issues with bus stops and routes. Aldine Aiste says, quote,
it's working through systematic challenges to ensure that students make
it to schools safely and on time. We also told
you this week is cell phone used by students a
(01:38:52):
major issue for parents and schools. There's no state rule
against them, but State Education Commissioner Mike Marath headed he
might be in supportive.
Speaker 15 (01:39:00):
One.
Speaker 28 (01:39:02):
Proficiency in reading in math peaked in twenty thirteen. And
has declined since then, and this corresponds with a significant
explosion in the use of smartphones.
Speaker 5 (01:39:11):
A new Pew research found that one third of the
nation's public school teachers say that students being distracted by
cell phones is a major problem in their classroom. Financial
Times reporting the Google and Facebook's parent company Meta made
a secret deal to target teenagers for ads on Instagram
(01:39:33):
and YouTube. Internet attorney Travis Crabtree says Google violated its
own policy in doing this.
Speaker 15 (01:39:40):
They've promised they weren't going to target strictly on a
demographic basis. Instead, they basically said the quiet part out
loud and told people, if you want to target minors,
go ahead and put the demographic unknowns, because that's where
they're hanging out.
Speaker 5 (01:39:54):
Grabtree says is unlikely Google or Meta would face any
real consequences. However, seven thirty six is our time. In Austin, state,
lawmakers say they're once again looking to ban foreign ownership
of Texas land. A legislative hearing this week focused on
a Chinese company that wanted to buy one hundred thirty
thousand acres to set up they said Win Farm near
(01:40:16):
Laughlin Air Force Base.
Speaker 4 (01:40:18):
The affiliation with the People's Liberation Armory of China and
the Chinese Communist Party are deeply troubling.
Speaker 5 (01:40:25):
Yeah, Romy Swanson with a Devil's River conservancy. He wants
a state to do more to strengthen our laws regarding
disclosure agreements. Who is buying the real estate? Are they Communists?
And the Texas Farm Bureau is now totally making a flip.
They will no longer oppose such a ban on sales
(01:40:45):
of farmland to foreign nations that are hostile to us,
like China. State Senate passed a ban on the sales
by the way last year, it died with the Democrats
joining in with the Rhino Dade Feelin speaker to kill it.
In the tech Ex's house, It's now seven thirty seven.
The Astros beat the Ray three to two. They've now
win seventh straight and they leave Seattle by a game
(01:41:07):
and a half in the Al West. Go at it
again tonight pregame five on Sports Talk seven ninety k
t r H joins in progress at seven. I'm Sheriff
Ryer on news Radio seven forty k t RH.
Speaker 4 (01:41:19):
You cool, you will be during the beat? The heat
sale expects cheers, the savings.
Speaker 3 (01:41:25):
What happened, Why it happened. Jimmy Barrett and Sheriff Fryar
explain it. Now back to Houston's Morning News. There's been
an upgrade to a recall that happened back on I
want to say May sixth. It's been upgraded to a
Category one recall by the FDA. A Category one recall
(01:41:45):
is the most serious recall that they do because they
believe exposure to the product could cause serious illness or death.
So this could be deadly candy. US WIT and Drug
Administration upgrade of the recall two do k Andyes and
snacks sold at Target and Walmart and several of the
stores including Dollar General, including the state of Texas. By
(01:42:09):
the way, these are for Palmer Candies. The main culprit
appears to be their white coated pretzels, but there's other
snacks made by Palmer Candy that are also on this
recall list. In fact, the recall list is rather long,
there's too many to actually go over here. It's salmonella,
(01:42:30):
but it's a very deadly form of salmonella, and they're
talking very serious illness and again even the possibility of
death if you get salmonilla poisoning. It can start six
hours to six days after the infection and last four
to seven days. Includes bloody diarrhea or diarrhea that lasts
more than three days without improving, fever over one hundred
two degrees, stomach cramps, vomiting, all the dehydration, all those
(01:42:54):
types of things that you have to be on the
lookout for. Palmer candies. It includes the recall includes Texas
seven forty time for traffic and weather together. Just check
out the drive. What's that sky mine?
Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
That's by candy?
Speaker 4 (01:43:05):
Death by candy? Not the way I want to go.
Speaker 2 (01:43:06):
Yeah, I cant think of better ways. Let's do some
two ninety here. We're getting a little two ninety up
on the inbound right at thirty fourth. You've got some
breaks before that, just before Highway six. If you had
a grand march at your wedding, you lose about six
minutes to coming inbound over our shoulder of the West
Sam a lot of breaks right before West Road, three
or four minutes extra trying to get to two ninety.
Go ahead and stay the course there.
Speaker 1 (01:43:27):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
The West Park has been nasty this morning.
Speaker 2 (01:43:30):
Right after West time or place before you get to
addicts clothing, solid breaks here. I may have to get
Eddie off the West Park in a few minutes. Also
Southwest Freeway, it's not bad. It's a little thick around.
He'll crop. You've got West Luke going down to uptown.
That makes perfect sense. That is just a lot of
breaks from two ninety down to wood Way. Oh, we've
(01:43:50):
found it hot it in downtown. I told you there
was a wreck off the ramp that goes from the
east text by Saint Arnold westbound west side Mary.
Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
Hey, wake that nice school.
Speaker 25 (01:44:00):
It's back in session.
Speaker 17 (01:44:02):
I hope everybody has nine big cool patience. I loved
all my favorite people.
Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
All right, put that on your head.
Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
And Jimbo from Tomball has an invitation for every KTRH
listener and met it'll be something fun. We'll talk about
it at seven fifty in the classic Elite GMC Traffic.
Speaker 4 (01:44:20):
Center Proba r KTRH Generator super Center twenty four our
Weather Center. Time to bring on Terry Smith. Seen a
couple clouds turning up now though Terry, but again didn't
look like a lot of rain in those clouds.
Speaker 18 (01:44:31):
Well, I was gonna say, you know how I look
at those kind of clouds. They're more decorative than anything.
They just kind of drift on by. They're not rain makers.
There is not much rain in the forecast this week.
There's only a twenty percent chance of an afternoon storm today,
Tomorrow and Friday, and a thirty percent chance of getting
wet Saturday. And the temperatures obviously are not going to change.
(01:44:54):
It's going to be hot, mid to upper nineties for
highs through Friday. Heat indects. That's the thing that limits
how much time we're out outside. Because it feels hot
one oh five to one ten today, it'll probably stay
like that through Friday weekend. Jimmy, I'm a little concerned
about the fact that we're going to see these temperatures
up at one hundred or even higher. So keep that
in mind as you're making plans for the weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
Okay, right now eighty one at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty k TRH. What you need to
know for the day ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:45:26):
This is Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New
South Windows Solutions.
Speaker 4 (01:45:31):
So late's consumer price index seems to indicate that inflation
is cooling down. What will that do for rates in
the near future. We'll talk about that next first though,
it's seven to fifteen. It's doll a little traffic and
weather together. That starts with you, skuy Michael, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
iHeartRadio listeners were the first to know about this. Racked downtown.
It's ien east, just past the ramp from the east.
Text that's messing up your Bay down Freeway from Lockwood,
make it waistside, it's messing up your east Text from Collingsworth.
I ten West Lavoka County.
Speaker 4 (01:45:58):
I got rayed, all right, went to Hopsville, no ishes.
But now that I'm almost Aquero, we got itches. Yes,
highway construction got it just now health care all right?
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
I told her we've got two forty nine clear. The
starlet Luetta Jimbo from Tombaugh went by that.
Speaker 1 (01:46:15):
Guy, Mike, why don't you have a happy hour for
all of us regulars.
Speaker 23 (01:46:21):
How fun that would be, and you could probably get
eighty to pay for it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:25):
You know, you really have to twist Eddie Martini's arm
to get him to throw a party. We're coming right
back with your grand Parkway at eight o'clock in the
classic elite GMC Traffic.
Speaker 4 (01:46:34):

We're checking out some more of our top stories here shaf.
Speaker 5 (01:46:54):
It's now seven fifty two on news Radio seven forty
k t RHR. Headlines are sponsored by DNM only. Inflation,
the CPI index rose in July byzero point two percent,
bringing the Biden government measure year over year now to
two point nine percent, just in time for the Democrat
National Convention and Kamala to give her economic speech later
(01:47:18):
this week. Okay, Tropical stormer Nesto expected to turn into
a Cat one hurricane. It's leaving Puerto Rico now building
up steam to Bermuda and then on eastward into the Atlantic.
The city of Surfside now has just five full time
cops twenty four to seven because four other officers, including
the chief, announced their resignations this week over problems between
(01:47:41):
the department and Surfside City Council. Latest news anytime at
ktorh dot com or next update will be at the
top of the hour.
Speaker 29 (01:47:49):
I live in clear Lake, Humble, reliable KTRH traffic and weather.
Speaker 1 (01:47:54):
Next on the ten.
Speaker 4 (01:47:57):
Peer that inflation is cooling just in time for the
Democrat National convention in the November.
Speaker 5 (01:48:03):
It was in the basket of things that the Biden government.
Speaker 4 (01:48:07):
Of course these numbers could end up being revised.
Speaker 5 (01:48:10):
But well not until after the convention.
Speaker 4 (01:48:13):
Right, Kevin L. Larry got asked about, you know, the
inflation rate and politics and all that. Here's what he
had to say. I don't think it's enough. I don't
think it's enough.
Speaker 39 (01:48:20):
I mean the debate a monthst investors right now, is
the September going to be a fifty basis point cut
or twenty five? What this report tells me, and you
look at the bond rates to two in the ten year,
inflation is very, very very sticky. And it's very difficult
for the Fed to maneuver here because their mandate is
two percent, not two and.
Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
A half, not two and three quarters two percent.
Speaker 39 (01:48:41):
So do they take the brakes off now and to
start cutting right now?
Speaker 1 (01:48:45):
I think it's siffy.
Speaker 39 (01:48:46):
I'm kind of in the maybe twenty five basis point
and wait and see. But that report, while interesting, there's
still a lot of inflation in the system. Remember it's
not the Fed ultimately the drives equities.
Speaker 4 (01:49:02):
It's earnings.
Speaker 39 (01:49:03):
That's what makes it move, and so people are trying
to guess what is the story on earnings. And right
now the economy, although there's some weakness and consumer data,
is remarkably resilient, particularly around the promise of AI productivity
in the next two years. The market looks out about
two years as far as it can see. What has
been destabilizing are two things. That sell off was the
(01:49:25):
result of two things. One the extremely high price earning
ratios of eight or nine tech stocks that are over
forty times when really the market trades at thirty. So
when those things go down, it pulls down the full
s and P five hundred. But also we lack policy
as investors. I don't care if you're blue or red
or independent. We need to know everybody's policy, and that's
(01:49:46):
what we're starving for now. Most of us make the
assumption that Harris and her team will give us platform
policy after the convention, so we're waiting for that. If
she doesn't, that'll get a little crazy because they're going
a lot more volatility in the mart because we don't
know where she stands. I mean, she's done a great
job raising money, getting volunteers, but at some point you
got to talk to reporter.
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
I don't know when that is.
Speaker 39 (01:50:07):
I assume, like everybody else is going to be after
the convention.
Speaker 4 (01:50:11):
Well, listen, do you really need her to state what
her policies are? We have her track record, Kevin o'learry.
We know what she's done in the past. We know
what the track record of the Biden administration was. Do
you think any of that changes if she becomes president
of the United States? How naive are you, sir? We
(01:50:34):
already know what the policies are. Wall Street can figure
that out for themselves. All right, listen, you'll have a
great day. We'll see tomorrow morning, bright and early five am.
I'll see this afternoon four and am nine to fifty KPRC.
