Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nick Lindquist joins US political analyst. I would think young
conservatives would be very motivated to get on in vote
this year. Are you there next?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yeah, yes, yes, sorry, No, I absolutely agree. I absolutely agree.
And actually we're in a very interesting time right now,
where you know, research is showing that especially young men
are the most conservative they've been in decades. So it's
just a matter of, you know, how do we get
them out to vote.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
They they realize there's a war against them, don't they.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Oh? Absolutely, you know, endless pulling showing that, like you know,
young people in general, the facade is coming down, Like
they see what's happening to our country and they see
how it impacts them directly. When you can't buy a
house anymore until you're in your mid to late thirties,
or you can't really find a job after college, it

(00:56):
starts to hit you that something's wrong here.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
This starting to dawn on them.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
That is not how you feel?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Is what you can do? Yes, yes, exactly, Yes, I
think at some point, you know, is what can you do?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
What can I do for myself? Not how I feel
about this? Right?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yes, that that feel good sort of strategy that democrats
are using aren't working anymore. And I think you know,
the especially the campus protests, the Prohamas protesters all over
the country this this year definitely sped up that process.
But you know, I think if if Republicans can continue

(01:39):
to tap into this influencer pool of people who are
just normal people that people can relate to and not
use like washed up celebrities and crazy you know, activists
to get to young people, then this this selection season
could be very different from when we've seen, you know,
in recent history.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well, there's a couple of things Republicans seem to be
more willing to do this time around than they have
in the past. One of them is to utilize social
media more than they have, because I think they realize
that the data shows them that that's where young people,
regardless of where they're at politically, that's where they get
their news pretty much these days, is through social media.
And and the other thing is just I think the

(02:22):
the general attempt to try to get to get them
the information they need to and to get them to
to the ballot box and to get them and to
get the ballots taken care of. And that's the other
thing that always concerns me that Republicans are just now
seemingly waking up to this whole ballot harvesting thing.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Oh yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, and with social media,
I think this is like, you know, one of one
of the biggest, the biggest election where everything that's happening
in our political landscape is directly embedded in a part
of online culture. And I think Republicans see that and

(03:05):
it's stronger than ever, so they're they're definitely coming at
it from that angle. But also, yes, uh, it's just
simply like what Democrats have been doing for for years,
where you actually sign up your your voting base when
they're young and encourage them to go out and vote.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
You know, these are efforts led by in the r
NC starting to do it themselves, but also you know
a lot of a lot of nonprofit groups have just
gotten out there and started to sign people up.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Doesn't hurt that the GOP under Donald Trump has changed
its imageter when you've got the UFC and you've got
wrestlers and oh yeah, you know, I mean the types
all of a sudden, it's the fighter and that appeals
especially again going back to young males.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, I mean, there's just excite here now, I think
there's something to look forward to. It's not just a
you know, a stuffy room of people you don't understand
what they're saying. We're we're yeah, we're talking about like
some some really exciting stuff now, and I think that's
definitely helping with the young face.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Okay, Nick, good to hear from you. Thank you appreciate it.
