Still seeing some flight issues at Bush and Hobby this

morning as well, with thirty canceled flights out of the
Big Airport and seven canceled flights out of Hobby. And

child pornography cases, homicide cases, sexual assault, tax on children.

Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller on Fox. The House
passed the Lake and Riley Act, which allows ICE to
detain illegal aliens that commit crimes The President will sign
the bill later this week after visiting disaster affected areas
in North Carolina and California. Meantime, Texas Congressman Brian Babbin
reintroduces legislation to block illegal aliens from taking advantage of

birthright citizenship. That proposal was originally made in twenty twenty three,
but a troubling new development at the border. Instead of
crossing here illegally, some people are trying to tunnel through it.
Border patrol recently found a cross border tunnel near El Paso,
which was connected to the city sewers system. South Texas

Congressman Tony Gonzalez tells Kate Fox TV this is yet
another sign of the border crisis that emerged in the
last four years.

This is one of the more sophisticated tunnels we've seen,
but you know, until its border crisis.

A carjacking a gunpoint in Katie led to a brief
chase that ended a crash. Deputies arrested the bad guy
found a woman inside the car with gunshot wounds. She
is in critical condition. The US Supreme Court here's oral

determine the level of immunity granted to cops in use

of force cases. Arison County Constant Roberto Felix shot and
killed a bad guy during a confrontation on a Houston
toll road ten years ago. Attorney Charles mcclod says there
is legal presidents allowing officers to use deadly force.

At the moment Sergeant Felix used force, he was clinging
to the side of the fleeing suspects car, and Felix
reasonably believed that his life was in imminent danger.

The court will decide if the victim's families lawsuit against

made drones are capable of flying anywhere in the US,
especially Texas collecting information and then sending it to Beijing.

committee released a report talking about hostile threats to the

fifteen bucks. To me, this is kind of like, oh,
by the way, we have Madagascar hissing cockroaches here in Texas.
So if you really do believe that the significant other

you could go out there and get a real live
Madagascar hissing cockroach and take it home and present it
to her or him as a gift. I mean, if
they really like cockroaches and you can name them, you

It's it's to me, it's kind of like the star
scam right where you can name a star after your
loved one and then they send you this little certificate.

well traveled, you should be fine. But I can tell
you you could sure step on it and bust it

And if you are born to a American citizens, you
yourself should be a citizen, right The question becomes should
just being born in the United States qualify you automatically
as a US citizen? In other words, if illegal people
come here, you know, a llegal mom and a legal dad,
and they have an illegal baby in the United States,

should they have birthright citizenship? Should they automatically be US
citizens because they were born here? Trump wants to change that.
Plenty of other conservatives in Congress want to change that too.
That includes Texas Congressman Brian Babin. Here he is this
morning talking about his bill to end birthright citizenship.

This bill is a bill that I've had for several years,
but its time has come. And one reason for that
is because President Trump has made so many executive orders
here in just the last forty eight hours, and incredibly,
he is determined to seal that border and secure our border.

And when he wrote that executive order, we actually welcome
these lawsuits because these lawsuits being filed by the ACLU
and in these blue states and cities which you just
had on your on your map and.

We want to codify what he is doing with an
executive order and pass this bill, get it through the House,
the Senate, and have President Trump signed in the law
so that the next president can't come along another Joe
Biden and uh and just overturn the executive order.

We have to have it written in law, and that's
what is for. So we're we're we like to see.

This because it's going to have to wend its way
through the court system.

And then hopefully the Supreme Court of the United States
will rule UH, and we will take care of this
problem once and for all. This birthright citizenship, the the
the whole premise of it is based on the fourteenth
Amendment to the US Constitution, which was written for one
purpose and one purpose only, and that is to make

the children of freed slaves right after the Civil War
and they were freed to make them citizens. Had nothing
to do with bringing illegal aliens in or birthright tourism,
a million dollar, multimillion dollar business where people come, wealthy
folks from Russia, from China give birth to a baby here.

And goodness, gracious, let me tell you, Todd, four hundred
thousand women come across this border each year to have babies.

One in ten is now an illegal birth. And we
have to just get this thing right. We got to
get it done right, and we got to get.

I get what he's saying. And yes, it will end
up in front of you of Supreme Court, no doubt
about it. Here's what the Fourteenth Amendment says, or at
least the part that is most often quoted. All persons
born are naturalized in the United States, and subject to
the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United plates States

and of the state wherein they reside. No States shall
make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges
or immunities of citizens of the United States. Nor shall
any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property
without due process of law, nor deny to any person
within his jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. He's
right about why he was written. He was written post slavery,
(18:21):
so that those people who were brought here as slaves
would become citizens automatically citizens of the United States those
born here. But of course nobody could have foreseen. The
founding fathers could not have foreseen what was going to
happen with the illegal immigration. The problem is is that
even for the Constitution, that's pretty broadly worded. But then again,
(18:46):
that's why you have a Supreme Court right to make
that interpretation. Now, the question would become if the Supreme
Court decided that that includes illegal aliens. That what I
just read to you from the fourteenth Amendment that includes
anybody born in the United States, regardless of the citizenship
of the parents. Then it would take a constitutional amendment
(19:06):
to change that, and that would take a lot five
twenty six. Here in these radio seven forty ktrh. Time

As stocks advanced in midweek trading, the major averages had
gains ranging from three tenths percent to one and three
tenths percent. Netflix shares rallied. They closed nearly ten percent higher.
The streaming service posted stellar quarterly results. Shares of Alaska
Air moved higher and after hours trading, the carrier became
the latest airline to post better than expected fourth quarter results.

Alaska Air's first quarter guidance also topped forecasts. We'll be
hearing from American Airlines today. Texas Instruments is also scheduled

We're waking up to one last morning of freezing tempts.
We're talking about some slick spots out there if you're driving.
But in the aftermath of Enzo Uston fire chief Thomas
Muno says the city did well.

No fatalities on the road, no fatalities with carmon knoxide,
no fire injuries, firefighters at an amazing job.

There were three deaths possibly related to the storm. Text
Dot officials say they are pleased with how the roads
look overall.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry on the Walton and Johnson Show
on nine point fifty KPRC New Orleans said a one

And President Donald Trump sat down for his first interview
in the Oval office in starting his second term, detailing
how he plans to handle sanctuary city hold down. Says

perhaps why California couples filed a lawsuit against Jet Blue

after a frozen chunk of said waste from one of
the company's planes came crashing through their bedroom ceiling woke
them up from a sound sleep on New Year's day.
The chunk was about the size of a watermelon. I
know how I wonder how the plane was when it
dropped this thing. I mean, if you're a thirty thousand

feet that's like a bomb coming in. According to the lawsuit,
they barely escaped devastating physical injury. They're asking for one
million dollars.

I don't know what this couple does for a living.
Maybe their attorneys, But they managed to find out that
the FAA Federal Aviation Administration had done an investigation. The
same plane that dropped that chunk on them dropped a
chunk on a Massachusetts home in August of twenty three.

So in the lawsuits, they're saying that Jet Blue failed
to investigate and correct the problems after the twenty twenty
three incident. Jeff Blue, of course, is not commony because
they're being sued, so they're you know, they're keeping tight
lift on this. Here's here's my prediction, especially if this
happened with the same plane before, there will be a

settlement of some sort. I don't know if they're going
to get a million, but there'll probably be an out
of court settlement. This is not the kind of publicity
you want if you're Jet Blue five forty. Time for

listeners were describing I was going along and I hit
some ice, or there's a car facing backwards.

Is you know unfortunately overnight the temperatures did drop below
freezing and we still had condensation on the road.

So, you know, we want to tell our motors, you know.

Please be aware of those overpasses because they're still going
to be iced over.

You know, we still have.

Cruise outspot checking and springing Brian in those locations, but
please take your time.

How effective is Brian against ice if you've got if
you've got a section that's got maybe a quarter inch
half inch of ice, does Brian do anything to the ice?
Is there enough salt in there to melt it?
Speaker 37 (36:06):
Well, it's not going to completely melt it. It's to
help prevent the sticking. So you know, it's a preventative measure.
It's not going to completely eliminate it, which is why
we still encourage motor it's not to go out on
the roadways if they don't have to. And also if
you're driving over that location, you know it don't you
can't go in normal speed. You're gonna have to slow down,
especially when you're going over those overpasses in those elevated areas.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
At one point we supposedly had what twenty two borrowed
snowplows that came to town. Where do Where were those
snowplows dispatched? I never did see one of those.
Speaker 37 (36:37):
They were dispatched on our Tier one roadways, you know,
the main roadways that were traveled, but anywhere that they
were needed, we had them on I ten, I sixty nine,
I forty five. You know, twenty two snowplows in the
Houston district. It's going to be, you know, spread pretty thin.
But you know, our guys did a great job, you know,
keeping the rotation going and keeping those plows on the road. Unfortunately,
(36:59):
when that snow is still falling, you know, they just
have to keep going over it, over it again.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
I think I think spotting a snowplow in Houston's kind
of like spotting a polar bear. You'd be so shocked
to see one of those things. You'd have to you
want to stop and take a picture. Maybe it's a
good thing I didn't see it.
Speaker 37 (37:13):
Absolutely, this was absolutely a shocker for Houston.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Where where does this rank? And are there any lessons
to be learned by this? You know, the lesson I
think we're all hopefully learning is that we just you know,
we live in the South, We live in the Deep South.
This is an extremely unusual generational event. It's not something
that is likely to happen again anytime soon, and there's
only so much you can do to prepare for something
(37:37):
like this.

So definitely a lesson of mother nature has no boundaries
whether we're in the South or not. But you know,
this was a precautionated tale for us to we now
know how to better prepare if if ever this event
ever occurs again.

Well, what what would you do if you could do
anything differently? What would you do differently?
Speaker 37 (37:58):
I you know, I can't complain on high team win.
Everything went well, everybody's mobilized. Well, you know, we had
our neighboring districts that came down from Dallas and Angelo L.
Passo to also give us an assist. So you know,
we can't complain about how things win. It was just
an unexpected event that you know, Houston would never dream
would happen.

Yeah, well, yeah, I guess if if you had to
deal with this or deal with you know, the things
we have to deal with when we have a hurricane,
which which which you prefer, I guess at least with
a hurricane. At least with a hurricane, you don't get
you don't have anything frozen on the roadways.

But well, let me tell you about the lawsuit. First,
five elderly African elephants and a Colorado zoo sued to

be let go from the zoo. Well, no they didn't sue.
Animal rights organizations sued on their behalf. See, elephants are people. Therefore,
elephants aren't capable of picking up the phone and calling
an attorney and hiring an attorney to represent them in court.
So this animal rights group did it for them. But

in a six nothing decision by Colorado Supreme Court, Jembo Kimba, Lulu, Lucky,
and missyy. The elephants well remain at the Cheyenne Mountain
Zoo in Colorado Springs because they have no legal standing
in the courts. You see, they're not human beings. Therefore
they have no legal standing in the court system.

Why the lawsuit was brought to begin with. Are they
trying to indicate that because they're old, they should be

fix everything that former President Joe Biden broke. He's already
having an impact at the border. ICE reportedly arresting nearly
five hundred illegals in several states, including New York in California.
Many of those arrested have long criminal histories.

Some of the most vicious criminals in this country, including
child pornography cases, homicide cases, sexual assault, tax on children.

Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller on Fox. The House
passed the Lake and Riley Act yesterday, allowing ice to
detain illegals that commit crimes. President Trump will sign that
built later this week. Meanwhim Texas Congressman Brian Babin reintroduces
legislation to block illegals from taking advantage of birthright citizenship.

That bill was originally proposed by Babin in twenty twenty three,
but a troubling new development at the border. Instead of crossing,
some illegals are trying to go underneath the border.

Border patrol recently found a cross border tunnel near El Paso,
which was connected to the city sewer system. South Texas
Congressman Tony Gonzalez tells k Fox TV this is yet
another sign of the border crisis that emerged in the
last four years.

This is one of the more sophisticated tunnels we've seen.
But you know, until this border crisis gets under control,
I think you're going to see more of these tunnels,
and ideally we have agencies that uncover more of these tunnels.
Crews began filling in the tunnel last week. President Trump

yesterday to determine the level of immunity granted the police

officers in use of force cases. Aris County Constable Roberto
Felix shot and killed a suspect during a confrontation on
a Houston toll road ten years ago. Attorney Charles McCloud
says there's legal precedents allowing officers to use deadly force.

to the side of the fleeing suspects.

of a thing. And Peter Doocey at Fox, you know,

when when Trump finally got into the Oval office and
was doing things in there, he asked him, have you
found a letter from Joe Biden yet? For President Biden?
And he hadn't. Oh, I kept kind of forgot about
all that, I don't know. And he opened up the drawer,

was a little note sized envelope that said forty seven

on the front of it, you know, which is obviously
addressed to President Trump. So, you know, Peter Doocey helped

or last night when he gave the interview to Hennity.

Let's see Tammy maybe flying up there. This is wreck
looks bad. Westbound totally shut down at the Hardy Toll Road.
If you're coming from New Caney to two forty nine,
you're going nowhere north sam the usual roadwork called in

Westfield Imperial Valley. Forget about that. East tex I've got
some kind of scooch at Laura Coppy southbound. I've had
people flipping over on the Golf Freeway northbound. The latest
one is Monroe. You got two eighty eighth the ramp
to the south belt can't even see what's going on there,
but that wreck has the ramp completely shut down for it.
Ben Tollway right before the Beltway northbound. That's an accident reported.

It's nothing but reck's from Highway six. And then we
haven't even gotten to the Crosby Freeway. That's a wreck
over the San Jacino River both ways. There's two different
wrecks right there. The is is called this and backed
up now from twenty one hundred. I'm told that one
for six at Fairmont Parkway is clear. I still see
a northbound back up. And also Baytown's seven active incidents
(01:31:14):
at the moment. You've got three on the it Wade Road.
That one's clear, Garth Road Showlander. This is all westbound,
and then the north part of the bypass part of
one six. I still think of that as new before
three thirty westbound backed up and also south part of
Grand Parkway just past Alexander. We are at a complete

can we really judge how Center Point did on this storm,
because when you get right down to it, we didn't
get any of the conditions that would endanger the electric grid.
We didn't get ice for the most part, or those

types of things that would bring down power lines.

Well, I think you know, listen, no good no news
is good news. And we did have some extreme weather.
We had a very very high demand.

So it just shows the added resiliency, the added capacity,

sure that we just meet basic energy demands.

hard ice. But when you have demand days like this
and you have, as I said, no news is good news,
that's something that Center Point.

State pol heality makers that have added more capacity to
our grid, more natural gas, more always available power, they
should take a bow as well. So all of us
had our lights, all of us at our heat.

At the end of the day, I thought it was interesting.
I will say this about Centerpoint. If nothing else, their
communication has improved immensely. They are much more proactive about
sending you a notification about any potential power problems, about
how many people don't have power, where the power outages are, although,
like any good corporation, I guess they do like to
(01:56:34):
accentuate the positive. I think at one point in time
they sound up a notification we just want to let
you know that ninety nine point nine percent of our
service area has power. Rather than put a number on
how many people didn't have power, they went with a
ninety nine point nine percent.

Do well well. I saw that they did a little
bit of both. You know, they did, of course ninety
nine point nine percent had power. That's great news.
Speaker 4 (01:56:57):
But they also talked about.

Areas without our areas that were intermittent power. You know,
there were there were a few thousand of us in
Houston that had a few power outages for a variety
of reasons. And Center Point was very responsive and their reporting.
I agree with you, their communications has gotten very good,
but the resiliency that they've added more work needs to

be done, of course, and I think Center Point would
be the first to say that. But you know, next
time we have a big rain event, big wind event,
we'll we'll have to really.

As a final note to David, I think that the
public relations to department the Center Point has has awoken,
don't you think. I think they now seem to have
a better understanding of the proper way to communicate with

lot of headaches for themselves.

I agree, you know, and I think it signals the
future for the state of Texas. You know, energy demand,
electricity demand.

Is only going to go up.

We're going to add all these AI data centers which
are going to be a huge, huge energy, electricity intensive resources.
So continuing to stay ahead of it is going to
be a challenge for Centerpoint and for the entire state.
And I know the legislature this session is going to
take these issues up, So staying ahead of it is
going to be another.
