Menefee is signed on to a lawsuit against the Trump

Speaker 15 (04:48):
This is something that the county attorney really doesn't need
to be involved in.

Speaker 16 (04:52):
There'll be more time and focus spent on doing that
than addressing issues like flood control litigation. Are the polluters
in Pars County that need to be eliminated?

Speaker 15 (05:02):

students and education experts are now ringing alarm bells about
great inflation and that's where students get higher grades than

(05:44):
they normally would have for the same level of work
in the past.

Speaker 6 (05:48):
Higher education is further behind than K twelves when it
comes to engaging students and when it comes to utilizing
the tools at students disposal. A K twelve teacher, they're

Speaker 19 (07:37):
This is Houston's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Now we're just planning ahead. Five oh eaters our time, heady.
Saint Patrick's Day to you, it is March seventeen. Saint
Patrick's Day falls on March seventeenth every year, which this
year works out okay, right because it's on a Monday,
And if you're the kind of person who likes to
drink a lot of green beer on Saint Patrick's Day,
then you're probably either taking the day off or you're

(08:06):
working half a day anyway. But it always falls on
March the seventeenth, as does Sinko Demayo always falls on
the fifth of Mallion. That always seems to me that
if you're going to have a drinking holiday right where
the primary function is to either be proud of your
heritage or pretend that you are of that heritage, or

(08:31):
just use it as an excuse to drink too much,
that maybe what they should just do is put it on,
Like what if you put it on like the third
Friday in March, does it matter this is March seventeenth,
Does that date really really matter that much. I'm just
curious because it always struck me as more of a

(08:53):
drinking holiday than anything else. I mean, there was the
Saint Patrick. There really was. He wasn't Irish, but there
was the Saint Patrick. In fact, he was born in
Roman Britain around three eighty five a d. His original
name was Maywan Sucat Succat, which doesn't really have a

(09:14):
ring to it. He was a slave at one time.
He was a sheep herder. He spent six years hurting
sheep as a slave, and he was captured taken to
Ireland as a slave. After he managed to escape, became
a priest and changed his name, and of course the
rest is history. Right where he supposedly caused all the

(09:36):
snakes to leave Ireland. I'm pretty sure there's still some
snakes in Ireland, but that's okay. It's a day that
if you are Irish, you'll want to pretend to be Irish.
You can. I'm twenty six percent Irish. I actually had
the genealogy done, twenty five percent Scandinavian and twenty six
percent Irish and the rest who knows five ten time
for traffic and weather together.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
See, and that's so funny because me and all the
other Mexicans in Houston, we get to be Irish today
and then in two months all the Irishes get to
come over to.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Our side of town and be Mixic. Exactly right. I
love America.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Let's go to the North Freeway, Jimmy Barrett, and it's
good to have you back. Tony the Tucker northbound at Parker,
I've got a wreck right next to it. Afterwards at
Little York. Parker is a left line. Little York is
going to be a where'd you go there?

Speaker 6 (10:19):
You?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Oh my word?

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Three vehicles in another left line. So I got an
accident in the backup of a second one. And this
is outbound I forty five to the North Freeway. Lookout
from the Loop on the Katie Freeway outbound westbound north
Post Oke.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
That's right by the loop. I don't know why they
just say the loop. It's a wreck.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Now.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
This is a sticky spot. This is a left shoulder.
It's tough to see. It's right after the merging. Crazy
So watch out outbound from Denny's and I Hoop and
that is of course outbound, not inbound.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
And also East Freeway.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
What a busy morning already East Freeway outbound before the
bridge Magnolia.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
They've just cleared that wreck. That suck has just gone.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
And also it looks like they've just now cleared they've
just now cleared that roadwork after the East Loop.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I've still got a bit of a spackle off the
ramps that'll go away shortly, so stay the course.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
I'm Skymike in the USA RV Resorts dot Com traffic center.

Speaker 3 (11:09):

I think I'm backing that like four or five times.

Speaker 20 (11:21):
You know, I was about ready to do the same
yesterday myself.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
And yeah, you can go to the car wash every day.
Just doesn't help right down.

Speaker 20 (11:30):
No it doesn't. It's non ending. And you know what,
I'm gonna have to look this up. But the pollen
typically is the worst in March in April and then
starts to ease up in May.

Speaker 18 (11:43):
But I'll double check that.

Speaker 20 (11:45):
Hey, the sunshine and the dry weather is not helping
those with allergies because the trees and the flowers are
just going bonkers and there's no rain to clear it out.
But it is a nice stretch of weather. We're dry
all week and the temperatures are quite pleasant. Mid seventies
to low eighties today and tomorrow, and just slightly warmer

(12:07):
Wednesday in the load to mid eighties Wednesday. There's a
colfront that'll come through Wednesday. Doesn't bring us any rain,
will help to cool the temperatures though somewhat. So it's
mild Thursday and Friday and the load of mids seventies.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
And the temperature right now is fifteen at your officials

Patrick's Day unless this is whatever you do, whether whether
it's drinking green beer or wearing green or whatever whatever
way it is you celebrate. Saint Patrick's day. Is filling
the blanke. It's not Saint Patrick's Day unless I and

(13:20):
you go ahead and fill in the blank again. The
iHeartRadio app katrh put It's on your preset and you
get thirty seconds to respond when need to click the
microphone five twenty time for traffic and weather together.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
Buffalo by You green? I think that'd be awesome, but
I think Buffalo by You might already be.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
It's phone coming green? How much it's gonna say? How
much green? Do we really need to turn to green?

Speaker 14 (13:40):
All right?

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Let's you know what. Let's look over right now.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
We cleared two rex for the price of one off
the North Freeway Little York and Parker is a back
to back. You have one and then somebody ran into
somebody in the backup. It's all out there, man, Look
at all the ninja's go haulling that stuff. Out of there,
forget about it. North Freeway's good. Stay the course, Yeah,
Katie Freeway. I want you to watch this one. This
one's in the manage lines. It's outbound at north Post
against sticky. It's right there, it's dark, it's stuff to see,

(14:05):
and it's in a left shoulder there. This is outbound,
not inbound, and resume freeways moving along for now, let's
do some ship channel bridges at the bottom of the hour.

Thank you Jimmy. We're sponsored by Moro Mechanical. Nearly half

Role in people are going to lose their freaking mind.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
The big story of the week on News Radio seven KTRH.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
This song will make you drink some green beer with him.
Five twenty two is our time here on Houston's Morning News.
The reason why I'm playing this is because evidently Elon
Musk wants to privatize Social Security and Medicare. I know,
I've never heard him say that either, but that's what
Democrats are claiming that that's what he wants to do.
He wants to he wants to control your social Security

(15:49):
checks so he can take it away. That's basically That's
basically what they're trying to sell you on, and they're
working really hard at it, and they're getting a lot
of help. Here's a representative. His name is Larson. He's
from He's a Democrat from Connecticut. John Larson is his name.
In this clip, he rails against Elon Musk not showing

(16:11):
up to detail all the details of all the Doge
cuts because he's trying to hide things like his desire
to privatize Social Security and Medicare, because you know, that's
that's what they lean on when they really want to
scare you, is to make you think that they want
to take those things away from you. So let's take
a list of what he has to say, and then
we'll get some response on that from the head of

(16:35):
the Doge Caucus in the United States House.

Speaker 22 (16:39):
If he's so great, if these plans and all the
fraud and abuse that he's found are so eminent, why
isn't he here explaining it?

Speaker 1 (16:48):
You know why?

Speaker 22 (16:51):
Because he's out to privatize Social Security.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
He's been on.

Speaker 22 (16:56):
Television the last couple of days talking exactly about Social Security,
God of Care, and Medicaid and what.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
He intends to do privatize it.

Speaker 23 (17:08):
I only hope the Academy was watching Representative Larson's performance,
because if they were, I think Representative Larson might be
nominated for an Academy Award for his dramatic role of
just overstating the savings and the efficiencies that Elon Musk

(17:28):
has continued to find and what dose is doing.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
It's just a shame.

Speaker 23 (17:33):
It's almost like this, It's almost like this, somebody breaks
into your house. Elon Musk reviews the video tape, tells
you who.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Did it, and you scream, oh, you don't.

Speaker 23 (17:45):
You shouldn't have access to the video tape. And that's
what the Democrats are just doubling and tripling down on.
But as you know, Stuart, because I've watched you, you know,
we have a government we can't afford, and we have
to wean ourselves off of this addictive govern spending.

Speaker 10 (18:00):
And that's what we're doing right now.

Speaker 24 (18:02):
If you went to the website doze dot gov, there's
a complete listing of all the spending that they have found.
You can read it line by line, thousands of lines.
If the Democrats wanted to find out what wasteful spending
he's uncovered, just go to the website.

Speaker 23 (18:17):
It's that simple, that simple, Stuart Barney, It's just it's
it's it's a new.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Level of Trump derangement syndrome.

Speaker 23 (18:27):
It's now must arrange them derangement syndrome and anything that
Trump or must is for the Democrats seem to be against.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
That is a Florida representative, Aaron Bean. He's the head
of the Doge Caucus in the US House. Here's the thing.
Might it make sense to privatize Social Security, Medicare or
Medicaid could be could be run better by a private
company that it is being run by the federal government.

(18:57):
I think the thing that would I'm not saying we
need to do that or should do that, but I'm
saying you should look at everything. And my guess is
the reason why Democrats would be so concerned about the
idea of privatization is just it means that money would
no longer be a little little fun for them to
borrow money from which they routinely do. They take money

(19:19):
out of Social Security in other government programs to fund
other things and then don't put the money back, which
is one of the reasons why this thing just you know,
it's like a Ponzi scheme. It really is five twenty six.
It is time to take a look at your money.
On this Saint Patrick's Day, here's Jeff Bellinger. Good morning,
Good morning to you, Jimmy and Welcome back. Last week
was a tough one for Wall Street, but it ended

(19:41):
with a rally on Friday.

Speaker 25 (19:43):
The market may be hard pressed to add to Friday's advances.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besson worried investors over the weekend, telling
NBC he is not concerned about the markets because corrections
are healthy. Stock market futures are lower across the board.
Right now, I'm Jeff Bloomberg Business on USE Radio seven

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Five thirty is our time. You're in Houston's Morning News.
I'm Jimmy Baird. Among our top stories this half hour
twice as many think the country is headed in the
right direction. Dems they're eating their own after Schumer caves
to Trump and coming up at five thirty eight, finally
coming home after nine months lost in space. Details in

(20:42):
the minutes. The head You're in Houston's Morning News has
to be a three hour tour. Yeah, No, kiddings guy, Mike,
what's going on out there?

Speaker 5 (20:48):
Let's get on the Katie Freeway first, outbound. I want
you to watch out because this one's in a sticky
spot westbound the mainage lanes and they're over on that
left shoulder. But it's it's dark there and it's right
when all the confusion the hubbub from the loops. Watch
out outbound, not inbound Kdie Threeway.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Call it post hog. I've got your tip line seven
one three two one two tips. Are we cousins? It's
Roy from Tarkington.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
Dude, I'm my two ninety outbound about a half a
mile before the nineteen sixty eight exit, there's a car
that look like a t B on the concrete barrier.
Answered tramp, All.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Right, sounds like we have no response from that. Let
me let the rest of the media know about it.
I'm Skymike on the Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center
from our KTRH Generator super Center twenty four hour weather Center.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Sunny and breezy with the high today right about eighty degrees.
We'll take a look at the rest of the work week.
When we talk to Terry Smith. No rain of the
forecast right now at least not a very good chance.
We could use some ring. We'll talk to her about
that in about eight minutes. Temperature currently fifty at your
official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH.
It's time down for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
Thank you, Jimmy. It's five thirty one on kt RH.
Shark top story. It's only been eight weeks yet President
Trump has already turned the mood the country around a
complete oneint eighty from where it was under Joe Biden.

Speaker 26 (22:04):
We asked, folks, is it in the right direction or
the wrong direction?

Speaker 10 (22:07):
That forty four percent?

Speaker 3 (22:08):
You say, right direction? That's up since November.

Speaker 10 (22:11):
And if that.

Speaker 26 (22:11):
Doesn't seem like a lot the last time it cracked
forty percent, you got to go back to twenty twelve.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
That's MSNBC pollster Steve Kornacki. Trump signed the continuing Resolution
to keep the government open until October, with ten Democrats,
including John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, voting with Republicans. Fetterman criticizing
radicals like Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

Speaker 27 (22:34):
He's not the one to talk about anything. I mean,
this is a guy that doesn't seemingly want to own
a suit, own a suit. I'm not really sure, but
I don't show up in hoodies when I'm going on
the floor.

Speaker 7 (22:45):
Crockett on CNN, not mentioning the cringeworthy videos she posts herself.
The CR was a big win for House Speaker Mike Johnson,
who told Fox Democrats might just hate President Trump more
than they love America.

Speaker 28 (22:58):
Ninety nine percent of the Democrats in Congress, both the
House and the Senate, voted to shut the government down
to try to make some sort of aimless political point.
It's shameless. They're using the American people as ponds.

Speaker 7 (23:10):
Only one Democrat voted for the CR in the House,
five point thirty three. More Democrat delusion. Here's Arizona Senator
Mark Kelly selling his Tesla to protest Elon Musk.

Speaker 29 (23:23):
Elon Musk kind of turned out to be an and
I don't want to be driving the car built and
designed by it.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
Yeah, Kelly's been getting mocked on social media for this stunt,
and that's because the Internet doesn't forget this was twenty
eleven and then President Barack Obama.

Speaker 30 (23:41):
What should be easy is getting rid of the pointless
waste and stupid spending that doesn't benefit anybody.

Speaker 7 (23:47):
That video resurface this weekend and has gone viral. Now
social media may be replacing traditional polling. In fact, Monmouth
University will shut down its entire polling center. As we know,
the polls have been wrong about Donald Trump for a decade.

Speaker 31 (24:03):
The most perfect example from our era is when pollsters
laughed at Donald Trump and they just thought he was crazy. Well,
a big mistake.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
Political commentator Jeffrey Lord five point thirty four on KTRH.
After a weekend off, the Texas Legislature gets back to
work today with several hearings scheduled in both the House
and Senate. More than eight hundred bills have been filed
as of Friday's deadline. Now, the Senate has passed several
important pieces of legislation. School choice and property tax reform

(24:35):
is two examples the House hasn't. State Representative Brian Harrison
is frustrated about all the time off the House has taken.

Speaker 32 (24:44):
We have just taken another completely unconstitutional long holiday weekend
for more than four days. The constitution does not allow
us to be gone for more than three days without
voting on it.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
We just did that again.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
In case you're keeping score. As of Friday, the Senate
has already passed at least ten highly important bills with
the backing of all twenty GOP senators. The state Senate
majority announced that they've got a new bill to require
voters to prove citizenship.

Speaker 33 (25:10):
It's Senate Bill sixteen, led buy State Senator Brian.

Speaker 8 (25:14):
Hughes, is a Texas way so us to require proof
of citizenship when you register to vote. It's a basic
fundamental concept, simple but currently illegal right now. The subtler
government does not allow us to verify citizenship want someone
registers to vote.

Speaker 33 (25:32):
That needs to change, and he expects it to happen
this session. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven forty kth.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
At five point thirty five and also in Austin, one
lawmaker is going back to the drawing board on his
bill to send deadlines to plug me more than one
hundred and fifty thousand inactive wells in Texas over the
next fifteen years.

Speaker 34 (25:53):
We have worked on crafting this legislation to address the
increase in active wealth counts that we have seen Texas,
which has grown to nearly one hundred and sixty thousand
inactive wells now many of these, when managed properly, are
valuable assets that can be revitalized after they've been inactive.

Speaker 7 (26:10):
State Senator Mays Middleton also wants to give regulators more
authority over oil and gas companies to enforce plugging requirements.

Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Arrett.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Technically, no, you're right. Technically they were not lost in space.
They were stranded in space. But you get the idea.
Five thirty eight is our time here in Houston's Morning News.
Two astronauts, Sunny Williams and Butch Wilmore, who were supposed
to be at the International Space Station for a little
over a week, are still there. They're not coming back

(28:16):
until Wednesday. They have been there a total of nine
months because there was a helium leak or something with
the with the with the vessel that was supposed to
bring them back. So they brought it back uncrewde and
they pretty much were stranded there. Now NASA says, well,
we we left them there for nine months on purpose,

(28:39):
you did. Really, If I was supposed to be there
for a week and you let me there for nine months,
I'm not I'm not a very I don't care how
good an astront you are. You're probably not real happy
about that, right, I mean, your your life. I mean,
what's there to do once you once you're done with
all those experiments, what's left to do on the International

(29:01):
Space Station? I mean, it's it's not like you're up
there with your your your best girl having fun. It's
you know, it's all business and they're decides what kind
of fun can you have. There's people spine on you
all the time because the TV cameras are on nine
months worth. So they're finally coming home on Wednesday. The
replacement crew is there, so they're going to you know,

(29:24):
come back assuming that everything's okay this time around. I
mean that's frustrating to the point where President Trump Ashley
Ashley asked Eli, Mas, can you go get them they're stuck?
Can you like go get them and bring them back.
That's when NASA said, no, we did this on purpose.
So again, nine months when you're supposed to be there
a week and a half doesn't seem quite right. Five

(29:46):
forty are time here on Houston's Morning News. What would
you do on the International Space Station for nine months time?

Speaker 10 (29:53):
Right?

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Do they have.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Fidget spinners up there? Do they allow anything like that?
I guess you could take your slinky right just in case,
you know there.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
Would be something to do in space, But I don't
know I would for I guess you would get tired
of all the stargazing after a while. Let's look now

here is the price of eggs coming. Down all anybody's
seen a price dropping? Eggs, yeah other things are going
to cost, more probably going to cost more at least
temporarily because of uscating. TARIFFS i Think President trump talked

(36:03):
about putting a two hundred percent tariff On european, alcohol
which you, know most of us can get by even On.
St Patrick's day Without european. Alcohol But Howard, lucknik he's
THE Us commerce, secretary says, that, hey, listen everything's going
to be fine on this, stuff even with these you,

(36:24):
know escalating tariffs going back and forth BETWEEN us and
some of the other countries out, there Like.

Speaker 37 (36:30):
Canada so let let's just go over and take a step,
back and let's go over the big. Picture So Donald
trump has said there are five big industries that he
wants to take care of, steel aluminum and, copper, automobiles, semiconductors,
pharmaceuticals and. Lumber and those five are really important to
us for our national.

Speaker 10 (36:50):
Security, right you need steal in.

Speaker 37 (36:52):
Aluminum so when we put a scale in aluminum, tariff
we need to teach the world just let us. Rebuild
america needs to be in. Charge let us rebuild our
steel in aluminum domestic. Production and when we do, that
tariffing Our american, WHISKEY i, mean why is that? Credible
it seems. Illogical So Donald trump's just reminding The European

(37:15):
union who's in. Charge who do they run their big
budget deficits, with you, know their trade.

Speaker 10 (37:20):
Deficits they trade with us huge.

Speaker 37 (37:23):
Amounts we buy their stuff all, day every, day and
they need to Respect Donald, trump and he's going to
teach them how to do. That you, know the auto
sector is the fundamental manufacturing capability where if we called
out The Defense Production, act we need those, automobiles that
manufacturing capability at.

Speaker 10 (37:43):
Scale god, forbid there was A World.

Speaker 37 (37:45):
War we need that manufacturing sector here In.

Speaker 10 (37:50):
America it's, vital it's.

Speaker 37 (37:51):
Important and, remember a giant trade deficit is not effective
for our. Economy we need to balance that trade deficit
because over time that just eats your. Way that is
the emergency That Donald trump is focused. On we can't
have these wildly, large, insane persistent trade deficits where all

(38:16):
these other countries just eat our. Lunch And Donald trump
is on it and he is going to change. It
and autos is kind of hot on that.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
List, yeah and AGAIN i hate to think of in
terms of a world, war but the way The United
states Won World War, two at least one of the
big ways we Won World war two was being able
to switch over our domestic production to war. Production and
if you don't have all these plants geared up and

And traffic THAT'S how i LISTEN to. Ktrh, INSTEAD lad i,
Got yeah but are those grades? Really earned six twenty
three is our time Here on houston's. Boring NEWS and
i don't think we're talking about plea BARGING a c
plus INTO a. B minus i did that a few times.
IN school i even GOT a b plus turned INTO
an a minus a, few times, you know just by,

(54:28):
you know throwing a little charm on. The teacher but
we're talking about a problem that's been going on for quite,
some time to the point where colleges and universities when
they look at transcripts of students and they look at,
the grades they don't know what to make of them
because they just don't know how legit. They Are Doctor
tyler TARVER Joins Us higher ED and k through twelve educator.
And speaker how big of a problem is great inflation

(54:50):
in our country? RIGHT now.

Speaker 6 (54:53):
I mean it's it depends on, the SCHOOL and i
think that a lot of times we have to look
at what's happening in those classes and maybe take a
look at what we're doing with school. In general, you
know are the grades going up because students are better
at studying and we haven't changed while we teach in.

Speaker 3 (55:10):
SIXTY years i would guess that if grades are, going
up it's got to, be, suspect right because we know
that test scores have not been. Going up we know
that kids have fallen behind in the testing that we.
Have done so if they're getting good grades but lower,
test scores then something there isn't. Working right, well.

Speaker 6 (55:29):
Again and you know you're looking at. YOUR tests i
mean a lot of states we change who's testing them
every two to, Three years so a lot of times
whenever we're judging it based on, test scores are they
going up or we just changing who's doing, the test
it's always going to take a, look at, you know
what is the consistency of the tests versus the consistency
of what's happening in. The classroom so great, question though

(55:51):
thank You.

Speaker 3 (55:51):
Very, yeah well, YOU know i think we're all searching, for.
Answers right we want our kids to get a. Great
education i'm sure colleges and universities want to know that
the students they're getting when when they're looking at, the
transcripts that they can kind of information to help them
make a judgment about whether or not they should be
accepted to that, particular.

Speaker 6 (56:08):
School, right, oh, Absolutely YEAH and i think that's. What's
important we have these, you know these these tests that
students come in and assess their. Knowledge, for, so yeah that's.

Speaker 3 (56:20):
Absolutely true should there be and of course Here in
texas we Have The, star test and plenty of other
states have their, own tests and they talk all the
time about whether or not they want to continue to.
Do it should there be a national standard when it comes?
To test should we be consistent from state to state
to state and how we test students so that we
have something reliable we can compare these these test. Scores too.

Speaker 10 (56:44):
It's not.

Speaker 6 (56:45):
About it and we do have, you KNOW, the ACT
the SAT and i think those have been kind of our.
Our standard that's what a lot of colleges use for.
Admitting students, you know there was a there was a
time there for a few years where we we got away.
From THAT but, I see i see personally a lot
of colleges going back to that to work as the
as as the the barometer that they use to let

(57:07):
students into, their schools, You.

Speaker 3 (57:09):
Know and the OTHER thing, i WONDER and i wonder
how you feel, about This. DOCTOR tarver i don't believe
that the college education is. FOR everybody i think there
are some students that are better working with their hands
or or doing, some other some other form of vocational
education for whatever their next career is going. TO be,
i mean they're they're master plumbers out there making tw
hundred thousand dollars. A YEAR so i don't think we

(57:31):
have to feel sorry for them by you stitch of.
The imagination should we be doing vocational or some form
of vocational testing on students to, try to, you know
show kids where maybe they have an aptitude that they
haven't thought.

Speaker 15 (57:42):
Of?

Speaker 6 (57:42):
Before, Oh ABSOLUTELY and i think we do have that
to some degree in a lot of in a lot,
of arenas and, you know as a as, an educator
a last, time EDUCATOR and I just i. LOVE education
i think it's an. AMAZING avenue i still think we
have to look at what is world look like now
and what jobs are people. Going into, you Know the
internet has changed a lot. Of things, you know, we've

(58:05):
seen especially over the past four or, five years where
a lot of people can do their, jobs remotely and
so that's that's a different set of skills and, you
know different employers sometimes where it's, being hey you need
this degree to even get in the door to get.
This job now a lot of times where people, are,
like well you can Use the Internet or google or
shaggbt to figure.

Speaker 1 (58:25):
Out how to do this on. The fly it's not as.

Speaker 6 (58:28):
Necessary for us for you to have. That DEGREE so
i would say even beyond just jobs or use, Your
hands i'd say jobs where you're making social media videos
and you're marketing for. A company LIKE if i own
a COMPANY and i need you to tell my, COMPANY
story i don't need necessarily need you to have a
college degree or, you, know masters or even a high.
School degree there's hygh school KIDS that. I know the

(58:50):
teachers are teaching them film classes and they Have two
the student has two hundred thousand subscribers on YouTube and
makes one hundred grand a year and they're in. Eleventh
grade because they talk about, You know nike shoes or whatever.
It is so the, world's changing AND so, i, THINK
honestly i would love to see colleges expand and start
including those arenas even more than we do these ones

(59:12):
we've done for so.

Speaker 3 (59:13):

App, today finally kind of interesting seven to eight. Hour
TIME obviously i wouldn't share, with YOU but i didn't find.
It interesting but blue collar jobs are making, a comeback
and they're making a comeback with older workers which seems kind,
OF well i guess what it is is you've got

(01:26:48):
guys in particular and gals who have worked a white
collar job and they, have retired and they're finding out
that they can't really afford retirement and they need to
go back, to work and there's fewer of the types
of jobs that they, were in so they they take
more blue, collar jobs more manual labor, type jobs which
of course is not easy to do once you, get,

(01:27:10):
Older right and it's one thing to, you know to
bust your back when you're, you know twenty five, years
old quite another thing when you're sixty five years old
to try to do the. Same thing they were talking
about It On fox Business On The Big, money Show
And charles payne kind of chipped in that you'd like
to it'd be nice if it was a comeback for blue.
Collar jobs but it's more about necessity than. Anything else,

(01:27:31):
OH boy.

Speaker 43 (01:27:31):
I think it's more necessity than boom, per se which.
Is unfortunate you just, talk about, you know egg prices
in one hand and this on. The OTHER but i
am glad that. Older workers by, the way there's, a
major major desire for. Older workers it's just, YOU know
i don't care what. ANYBODY says i walk Into an
apple store and all those, young, kids man they're just.
They're bad they just, you know they just tell them
go out there and sell them as much stuff as.

Speaker 10 (01:27:53):
You can they don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:27:54):
The product it's just it really.

Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
Is awful the salesmanship.

Speaker 43 (01:27:58):
Out there and just these older work, are reliable they're
happy to have. The job, They're Polite so i'm happy
that they're finding, these JOBS although i think a lot
of them are doing it because they.

Speaker 37 (01:28:07):
Have to.

Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
You know it's really.

Speaker 41 (01:28:08):
Interesting too if you look at the states where the
largest percentage of retirement age adults are, still working they're
all blue states because they can't manage to make. Ends
meet and that's. The problem it's actually not a laughing matter.
At all, but more more and more PEOPLE that i
speak To say i'm going to work a. Little longer
i'm not going to retire. JUST yet i can't physically

(01:28:28):
or financially. Do it and there's something wrong with, that
mentality especially.

Speaker 43 (01:28:32):
When you're in an industry like construction and stuff, like
that and really physically the physical stuff. Is TOUGH but,
I know i have a couple of buddies who are.

Speaker 41 (01:28:38):
Working, longer, yeah sorry not wrong with the mentality that
they should be. Working longer they, want to but just
the fact that people aren't comfortable enough to retire at
the set age that. They should they paid Into Their,
social security they were supposed to save their money and
they're four one k and many did. Those things they
just don't find it enough to make ends meet.

Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
New well because they live in a blue state where
they have to pay, higher taxes property taxes and. Everything
else this is, more expensive so tougher. To save Seven

For anything on news radio seven FORTY.

Speaker 10 (01:33:59):
Kr, h.

Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
Yeah the price of eggs, is painful that's, for sure
AND terrass i guess could be at least temporarily painful
if they do end up triggering some sort of. A
recession i haven't heard too many people say that they
thought that's what's likely, to HAPPEN but i did HEAR
New Us Commerce Secretary howard lutnick saying that it would be.
WORTH it a recession would be worth it because we

(01:34:25):
need to get control over our trade imbalance with, other
nations among. Other things Lance thrill KILL joins us expert,
on manufacturing business. And tariffs under, What, circumstances lance would
you see tariffs potentially leading to? A, RECESSION.

Speaker 44 (01:34:43):
Well I mean i think that if it's a long drawn.
Out process, FIRST off, i mean so that stock market is,
kind of, you know the biggest indicator for. A recession
the stock market's supposed to be looking six, months forward
which is kind of what's concerning about it right now
with the recent, you. Know TANKING so i would, say that,

(01:35:06):
YOU know i think that it's a critical that we get,
some agreements Particular with Canada and mexico.

Speaker 10 (01:35:12):
Locked in as soon.

Speaker 44 (01:35:13):
As possible but if this thing gets, drawn, OUT potentially
i guess it could cause. A recession that was the
first i'd heard of it.

Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
As, well yeah it's got it's kind of interesting to,
me that, YOU know i Think the, trump tactic and
it's usually worked too, great effect is to propose these
tariffs and then the country you're proposing the tariffs to
immediately backs down and what it is you want them
to back, down on and that's the end of. The
tariff we're kind of struggling right now to get the
cooperation we're looking for From the, canadian government and they

(01:35:44):
kind of seems they've kind of taken this whole tariff
thing kind. Of personally how do you think it's going
to work OUT between Us? And, canada, WELL yeah i think.

Speaker 44 (01:35:53):
You're right that it's it's been a, little bit for
lack of a better way to describe a. PISSING contest
i think it certainly didn't help all the Narrative about
canada becoming the first coach to. Our, STATE rather i
think they took that personally and then, you know it's
kind of been one thing after another with, you know

(01:36:14):
who can puff their chest out, further so, you know
which is all part. Of negotiations there's different styles and tactics,
and negotiations and it appears to this one both both
parties are taking the, hardball approach which has led, to it,
you know not going in the right direction.

Speaker 6 (01:36:30):
Thus.

Speaker 3 (01:36:31):
FAR yeah i think it's also kind. OF interesting i
think one of the Reasons Why president trump loves the
idea of tariffs so much is that, he realizes, of
course it was a, different world but before the before
we had an internal revenue service and an a national,
income tax that was the Way The united states made
money was, through tariffs and at one point, in time

(01:36:51):
it was enough money to actually fund the government Without. Taxing,
americans yeah.

Speaker 44 (01:36:57):
It wouldn't that?

Speaker 3 (01:36:57):
Be, INCREDIBLE yeah.

Speaker 44 (01:37:00):
I think that would. Be ideal and it's funny that
that's now the narrative kind of. TALKING about i was
on a podcast a couple of months ago and one
of the other manufacturing business owners suggested.

Speaker 6 (01:37:13):
That type of vision as a possibility and that he was.

Speaker 44 (01:37:15):
Thinking about and, YOU know i think where we landed
on that was in order to. Get there it would
take such a long, term vision, you know and with
How The white house turns over from, You Know democratic
Party To, republican party, you know back and forth and
has you know for a. Long, time uh there's never

(01:37:35):
been one long run of, either PARTY which i think
is good and healthy. For balance but it would take
that type, of vision, you know to accomplish such. A thing,
for example, you Know bringing american mills back To The,
united states which currently we're heavily, dependent on, you know

(01:37:55):
importing raw material To The united states and then it
goes distribution centers which then.

Speaker 6 (01:38:02):
Slit the coils in the sheets.

Speaker 44 (01:38:05):
And so, you know like in his last, PRESIDENTIAL term
i think they built three or four, new mills which
was a massive effort and a lot. Of money and so,
you know you can see if they only built three
or four and a four year period with a, you
know significant, capital investment then, you know doing it to
be completely you know independent and be able to Support

(01:38:29):
The united states manufacturing would.

Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
Be such a more.

Speaker 10 (01:38:31):
Massive, effort, yeah sure.

Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
In decades as, you said it would take the political
will and consistency, of decades not just a four year
term or an eight Year, term lance thanks for joining.

specifically Call For, Senator, hughes well.

Speaker 8 (01:55:05):
Good morning is very straightforward and it says if you're
going to register to Vote, in texas you should show proof.
Of citizenship it's very simple and shouldn't be. Very, controversial no.

Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
It SHOULDN'T so i really don't know why we do
it the way. We do right, right now you basically
are given a voter registration form when you go TO,
the dmv when you get your driver's. License renewed nobody
asks you any questions about. Your citizenship they just give it.
To you so why don't we just stop doing that?

Speaker 8 (01:55:37):
Right now federal law does not allow us to require proof,
of citizenship as you know when you get a driver License.
In texas the State of texas requires proof, of citizenship
But the fed.

Speaker 3 (01:55:49):
Will not let states do that to register. To vote.

Speaker 8 (01:55:52):
It's crazy arizona, tried it they. Got blocked other states have.
Tried it we have, a way based on other states
experience and based On The supreme, court precedent that will
allow us to verify citizenship when people register. To vote
Hopefully the feds will, fix this but we're not Waiting
on washington well.

Speaker 3 (01:56:10):
Into THAT and i don't blame you if we're not
Waiting on washington to be waiting until you're old and
gray and maybe gone from. THE planet i guess my
question would, also be are we required by law to
give a voter registration form to somebody who's applying for a. Driver's, License.

Speaker 8 (01:56:26):
Yes federal law since the nineties has required that when
someone gets a driver license or news or, driver license
they're offered registration. To Vote the feds also want us
to do that when people apply for. Government Benefits now
texas has. Pushed back texas has, resisted that and most
states are a lot more aggressive about that than. We are,

(01:56:47):
but unfortunately for years, the feds the, federal government has
required the states to do.

Speaker 3 (01:56:52):
These things so the only way to fix it is
to pass the. LAW ourselves i guess the next question,
Would be i'm sure we'd not have a problem getting
Through The, texas senate but there doesn't seem to be
