it wasn't me this time.

But you know, see, it's like when they put crabs
in the gumbo crab shells that so you'll know that

it's live. Just a little surprise.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Let's go to the.
Speaker 7 (01:06):
North Loop right in front of LBJ Hospital. I went
there one time with a broken hand. Let's see westbound.
That is some kind of smunge there is at roadwork.
I can't see it very well. It looks like about
a two or three minutes slow down on the digitals
heading around from waistside here. That sure looks like they've
knocked out a right lane though, right in front of McDonald's.
All right, so let's go ahead and take iten East

Speaker 6 (01:57):
Hey you, Jimmy.
Speaker 8 (01:58):
It's five O two on kgrhr our top story.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
I call it Liberation Day. April scond is liberation Day.
Speaker 8 (02:04):
That was the president last week as tariffs are set
to go into effect. Not a moment too soon for
Kansas Senator doctor Roger Marshall.
Speaker 9 (02:12):
For decades that I grew up in a farming family.
American farmers have told me they're tired of being taken
advantage of by other foreign countries.
Speaker 8 (02:19):
Marshall on Fox Business. Ahead of these going into effect,
Israel announces it's lifting all tariffs on American made partners.
Supporters of the Trump plans say this will be a
big step towards restoring economic independence.
Speaker 10 (02:33):
Trump says he just wants a level economic playing field,
and tariffs might do that.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
He's just saying, let's go reciprocal.
Speaker 11 (02:39):
Why don't you drop yours to zero, and I'll talk
to Trump about dropping his to zero, and we'll both
have zero and we'll combine the economies.
Speaker 10 (02:46):
That's Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary. He says Trump is
using tariffs to force negotiations and a recession isn't likely.
Speaker 11 (02:52):
Most countries are going to be incentivized to cut a deal.
I think you have to take the noise away from
the signal. The signal's pretty good in the economy right now.
Speaker 10 (03:00):
He also thinks that even Canada will end up cutting
a deal with Trump after their election in six weeks.
Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH.
Speaker 8 (03:07):
Trump is supposed to announce these tariffs at three o'clock
Houston time. Markets continued to be nervous, with down futures
down by one hundred and seventeen points. One nervous sector
or Medals and fabricator Lance Thrill Kill at amtal dot
com says the price of raw materials has taken a
steep jump.
Speaker 12 (03:25):
After Super Bowl Sunday, when Trump tweeted his intention to
put a twenty five percent tariff. Prices on aluminum shut
up the next day, up thirty percent, now up to
forty percent.
Speaker 8 (03:37):
He says this could impact home building costs. Five h
three new polling shows the Democrat party approval rating at
just thirty seven percent, and even radical California Governor Gavin
Newsom is calling it out.
Speaker 13 (03:50):
So the Democratic brand is toxic right now. Democrats will
tend to be a little more judgmental than we should be.
This notion to cancel culture. That's real and Democrats need
to on.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Up to that.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
Do some on HBO.
Speaker 8 (04:00):
In some polls, favorability is as low as twenty seven percent.
And that played out in the special elections in Florida
last night where Republicans win congressional races to replace Michael
Waltson Matt Gates. Randy Fine wins Waltz's seat, Jimmy Petronis
takes over for Gates.
Speaker 14 (04:18):
This was an enormous victory for Donald J. Trump tonight,
for the Trump doctrine, bor doge for everyone that we
didn't lose a seat and the Republicans won resoundingly.
Speaker 8 (04:29):
Reaction from South Carolina's Nancy may Son. Fox mixed results
in Wisconsin, where liberal Susan Crawford beat the Trump backed
Branch Shimmel in a state Supreme Court race. Voters there, though,
did approve enshrining voter ID into the state constitution.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Five h five.
Speaker 8 (04:47):
Now, House Republicans begin the process of reigning an activist
judges trying to stop the Trump agenda, and with good reason.
Speaker 15 (04:54):
Fifteen district judges effectively sees control of various executive branch
duties and the the first six weeks of the current
presidency through nationwide injunctions.
Speaker 8 (05:03):
Former House Speaker Nude Gingrich on Capitol Hill. In the
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley holds a hearing on
this very issue later today.
Speaker 16 (05:12):
But Hans von Spakowski with the Heritage Foundation says Congress
is going to have to act.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
I think Congress does have to act.
Speaker 17 (05:21):
I think they have to change federal law to prevent
single district court judges.
Speaker 6 (05:27):
And what about a possible impeachment.
Speaker 17 (05:30):
We've never had an impeachment involving a judge because of
a bad.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Opinion that he has rendered.
Speaker 16 (05:37):
Several Republicans have already introduced bills in the House and
the Senate. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven forty k T.

Speaker 8 (05:46):
The national push to require citizenship for voting continues, headed
up by Texas Congressmanship Roy.
Speaker 18 (05:52):
We're just saying that we're going to ask people to
simply show up and demonstrate their citizenship and so we
can ensure that only American citizens vote in American life.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
A vote is expected in the next few weeks.
Speaker 8 (06:03):
The Trump plan to shut down the border has been
so successful that the Mexican cartels are now smuggling illegals
out of the United States.
Speaker 19 (06:11):
It's their newest effort and a byproduct of President Trump's
border crackdown.
Speaker 20 (06:16):
One of the intended consequences of that is that people
would start doing self deportations.
Speaker 19 (06:21):
Breitbart's Bob Price says, rewards of legitimate citizenship for self
deportations drive this, and it's really the last easy source
of revenue for the cartels.
Speaker 20 (06:30):
The federal government's going to be cracking down on those
revenue abilities, attacking their banking and people that.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Are doing business with them providing support.
Speaker 19 (06:38):
He says, human smuggling has been a perfect product for
cartels because they've already been paid and arrests won't affect them.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Now back to Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News team,
Houston's Morning.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
News five all way, Dar time you're in Houston's Morning News.
We love BUCkies. We absolutely love BUCkies. My wife is
totally in love with BUCkies.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
It's a tourist destination. If you come visit us from
another state, she's taking you to BUCkies. Okay, just so
you know, it's on the list. It's the first thing
on the list. So I'm sure she'll be upset to hear.
Here we go again, somebody trying to not steal the name,
per se, but steal the persona of BUCkies by coming
(08:04):
up with a similar name and a similar logo with
another creature that you can make look a little bit
like a beaver, but isn't really a beaver. Who's doing
it now? On March nineteenth, BUCkies filed a federal lawsuit
against Barkies. Oh I see what they did. Barkis b
A R c ee apostrophes. They're in southwest Missouri. They
(08:29):
have a dog park, coffee and food shops, and a
Western themed miniature city. BUCkies claims that the unauthorized use
of his trademarks, including a smiling animal mascot, so they
got smiling dog okay instead of smiling beaver, will benefit
the Missouri convenience store Bucki's expense, while falsely informing consumers
that the two businesses are somehow related and they're likely
(08:50):
to win that. You know, anytime you name a business,
you know, Barkies with two e's, just like the BUCkies,
then you know you're going to have a problem. And
this isn't the first time this has happened. This is
it probably won't be the last time. Where'd I see
another one? Oh yeah, there's a place called where there
(09:10):
was in Missouri called Duckies with two e's. BUCkies filed
a federal lawsuit against Duckies. They're a liquor store, also
in southwest Missouri. What's what these people in Missouri try
to steal the BUCkies thing. BUCkies claim that Duckies used
a similar animal centric logo and it's merchandise. A cartoon
duck wearing sunglasses and a green shirt and red bow
tie all inside of a yellow circle. So you know,
(09:32):
they get as close as they think they legally can
and try to, you know, steal the good name of
BUCkies because it's so renowned that they think it'll draw
it probably does. It probably draws business if they see
the familiar logo. Somebody sees that familiar logo, they probably
would go check it out. Five to ten time for
(09:53):
traffic and whether these.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
Gas stations that are like stop and shop and shop
and low and shot. You know, they're supposed to be
like stop and go, they've they've ripped that. And it's
the same color as green, you know, like a stop sign,
a green yellow writ and a shop and low or
stop or happy Lucky this.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
They're all over the place.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Then you can you can try, you can do, you
can try, and I guess you can get away with
it if nobody sues you.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
No, that makes sense.
Speaker 7 (10:15):
Let's do some West Park tot way on the inbound
Is that a stall?
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Yep? There he is, exit ramp.
Speaker 7 (10:20):
He's been there a while, not really bothering anybody. I
think the ninjas might have to take a right lane,
so let's watch out but otherwise we're going due on
the West Park Tollway. Now it's a wreck on the
north Loop sixth town. I was trying to figure out
what the smush was right past the hospital, past well Lockwood,
and we're looking at maybe an extra one or two minutes.
They've ninja that already, so stay the course.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
It's nothing.
Speaker 7 (10:42):
And if you want to go through directly itim baytown
Side looks good. Twenty one minutes from the Santracento River Bridge.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Go on the other way.
Speaker 7 (10:50):
See, I like to go the other way on the
Katie Freeway because the roadwork forty.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Five out to Studemont.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
You've got three little skinning lanes and the text dot
wall of death on the inbound. We look good from
Graham Parkway on Easy twenty five minutes stroll. No, no
Terry Smith today, Jimmy, So you know, just us guys.
You can tell me some Andrew Dice Clay jokes.
Speaker 21 (11:09):
Here.
Speaker 7 (11:10):
I'm in the USA R and Vresorts dot Com traffic center.
Maybe Jeff Maurer would like to hear some some two
live crew or something.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Yeah, no, no two live crews today.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
So from our KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four our
weather center Jeff mar Is Invertery today hasn't changed the forecast,
though still cloudy and windy.
Speaker 22 (11:27):
Yeah, wendy and warm. We're gonna flirt with some record
highs today and tomorrow's these winds gusting from the south
to speaking of those winds starting at seven this morning
and lasting until five this afternoon, a wind advisory for
our coastal counties and also for Fortman and Wharton counties.
Some of the gusts from the south near thirty five
to forty miles prior, and that's gonna boost our high
today into the mid tow uper eighties with clouds, maybe
an isolated shower. Cloudy and windy tonight, a low down
(11:48):
to seventy four tomorrow Sunday and windy again to hide
your ninety few afternoon storms Friday up to eighty six,
and then rain will increase into the start of the
weekend before starting to taper off on Sunday, and temperatures
will trend cooler by Sunday.
Speaker 3 (11:59):

It's Houston's Morning News, brought to you by New South

Morning News team all the info you need to take
on the day.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
So Elon Musk is making the rounds on a lot
of different television shows. Yesterday he was on the five
talking about social security and frauds and kind of dropped
the bombshell that there's going to be some arrest this
week for social security frauds. We'll have more than that
story coming up next, but first to five twenty, let's
do a little traffic and weather together. Nothing going on
out there, Hoskin Mike, I'm loving this.
Speaker 7 (12:37):
Actually, you know, I've I've slept a little late this morning,
and you some of you might be sleeping lane. I'm
not sure what's going on in Southwest Freeway. Coming up
from Bryer from sugar Land, we're looking good. Nineteen minutes
up into the canyon now two eighty eight Steven F.
Boston stands proudly out just past Angleton as well. We
come up from Lake Jackson. Let's go back further look
at Clute, home of Skeeter Fest and coming up twenty
(13:00):
two minutes from Manville.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
It looks good to eighty eight.
Speaker 7 (13:02):
You do have the roadwork in Row Sharon, if somebody
would like to update my laneage the tip line now
by the way today we could really use a female
voice this morning. If you've ever given birth, or you've
ever been concerned that you might be about to give
birth seven one three two one two tips. We're looking
for factory designs here the Generator Supercenter dot com traffic center.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
From r KTRH top tax Defenders, twenty four hour Weather

gusty wins again tomorrow eighty eight and guess what mostly
claudiy and windy on Friday with IB eighty six. So
three days that are pretty much the same day. Current
temperature is seventy seven at your official severe weather station,
(13:45):
News Radio seven forty k t RAH. We're checking out
some of our top stories on a Wednesday. Here's clip at.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
Five twenty two.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Here we go.
Speaker 8 (13:53):

Speaker 23 (14:24):
I don't need no from I don't need no, I
don't need no drama when you came, I don't need no.
I don't know as soon as I wake up, keeper
eye up for the snakes. Yeah, because I don't need
no from.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Well, we got a little fraud going on in the
federal government Act. Okay, a lot of fraud going on
in the federal government. Eli Musk on the five. He's
making the rounds here pleading, you know, I don't want
to say pleading his case. He doesn't have to plead,
but he is making his case for the things that
Doge is doing. Doge. Here's the bottom line for Doge.
It just scares the crap out of the left, especially
(15:02):
when he says things like yesterday when he said that,
or actually when he was in Wisconsin making an appearance
in Wisconsin and he made the comment about I don't
know how we have so many rich congressmen. How do
you have twenty million dollars when you're making two hundred
thousand dollars a year? How does that work? And I
think they're scared to death that he's going to find
out where the money is coming from and they're all
(15:24):
going to be exposed. But yesterday he was talking about
social security fraud. Here's Elon Musk on the five.
Speaker 24 (15:30):
We've been counted.
Speaker 25 (15:32):
There's really so much for it's deciding what should we
prosecute at first, because it's such a long list, you
have to actually prioritize the list. We can pay the
list to the Deproblement of Justice that the DOJ has
a process that they go through to review and think
about it. The wheels of justice turned slowly. In fact,
obviously I'm an eiecle sense of urgency, So to me,
(15:54):
when I see that terrible Floridas happened, I'm like, why
haven't we arrested someone ready? But as I was saying, goes,
the wheels of justice turned slowly but surely, and and
I think probably the person that stole four hundred thousand
social Security numbers at least maybe more will be arrested.
Speaker 24 (16:11):
Hopefully this week, and uh, you know, with respect.
Speaker 25 (16:15):
To the the non governmental organizations, these these sort of
fake NGOs, I think there needs to be a number
of arrests in that regard as well, because.
Speaker 24 (16:23):
These these are these are fake charities.
Speaker 25 (16:26):
Uh where mostly Democrats are listen, well, it's I don't
want to feel that this sometimes a little bit of
a Republican in there, because they sometimes throw the Republicans
a bone to say, hey, be quiet about this. So
it's it's it's that's that's that's where you start getting
the uniparty thing going on. But it is overwhelmingly to Democrats,
and they give these billions of dollars to NGOs run
(16:51):
by Democrats that then go through a whole network of
additional uhos, giant money laundering scheme.
Speaker 24 (16:57):
Really, at this point, I think, uh.
Speaker 25 (17:00):
The wo engo and money laundering are almost synonymous. Yes,
it is remarkable that there is so much violence. You know,
people have burnt cars that fired bullets into dealerships. They've
scratched swastikas into Tesla's. Of the innocent people that have
they're just going about their lives. They've done nothing wrong
(17:20):
and Tesla's done nothing wrong as a company and so
I find it ironic and incredibly hypocritical that the same
Democrat politicians who would want to throw someone in prison
for twenty years simply for watching things at January six
but not actually doing any violence have you don't hear
(17:42):
a single word from them about the actual violence happening
against Tesla.
Speaker 24 (17:47):
What incredible hypocrites they are.
Speaker 25 (17:49):
It's outrageous. I mean, really, this is fundamentally a case
of terrorism. It's wise scale domestic terrorism with the purpose
of intimidation, and it's harming innocent people. It's really terrible,
and I think what we actually have to get to
(18:10):
are the people who are organizing and paying for these
attacks and protests. That's who we really need to go after,
because the people have that we're actually throwing the Montov cocktails.
They are the foot soldiers. But we need to go
after the generals, and we're going to do so. The
prescedent has made it very clear that we're going to
go after those that are paying and organizing these these
(18:32):
violent attacks, and Attorney General Bondi has said the same thing.
Speaker 24 (18:36):
I believe that that is exactly what will happen.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
And as someone once said on this program, something much
smarter than me. Follow the money, Follow the money, you'll
find the generals. Five twenty six is our time here
in Houston's what it is. Time to take a look
at your money as we check Emma, Jeff Bellinger and.
Speaker 26 (18:53):
Jimmy Good morning. It was a turnaround Tuesday for Wall Street.
The market started out lower on worries over tariffs, but
after if you're some late session buying, stocks ended mix.
The Dow didn't make it all the way to positive territory,
but it closed less than a tenth of a percent lower.
The Nasdaq gained nine tenths percent. The S and P

they're lower this morning. I'm Jeff Fellinger, Bloomberg Business on

Today gusty afternoon wins with the high temperature right about

talked to the weather channels. Jeff Marr. We'll do that
in nine minutes. Right now, temperature is seventy seven at
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH.
It's timed out for the news. Here's Class Saunders.
Speaker 8 (20:59):
Thank you, Jimmy five already one on KTRH. Our top
story the impact of Houston's crime problem. According to new polling,
seventy seven percent of Eustonians stay home at night for
fear of safety. The city claims violent crime is down,
but Ustonians are simply scared.
Speaker 28 (21:20):
Even if you have one crime that occurs in a
very nice area. Let's say it's a burglary where somebody
gets their car stolen, that can reverberate to sends subtle
shockwaves through that little community.
Speaker 8 (21:30):
Retired HBD Captain Greg Freeman says most of the violent
crime is occurring in specific and dangerous parts of the city.
Also at city Hall, the City Controller blames hfd overtime
for some of Houston's financial problems. The firefighters are not happy.
Speaker 29 (21:48):
The Houston Firefighters' Union is pushing back on claims by
City Controller Chris Hollins that excessive firefighter over time is
contributing to the city's budget issues. In a statement, the
Union aqution Hollins of quote cherry picking data in an
attempt to villainize our dedicated firefighters. They point out that
the city has firefighters staffing shortages, which is one reason
(22:10):
for increased overtime usage. Not to mention, local firefighters were
also recently deployed to help with wildfires here in Texas
and out of state, which resulted in more overtime. Eric
Sharp News Radio seven forty KRH.
Speaker 8 (22:23):
Thank you, Eric, five thirty three. Now in Washington, today
is Liberation Days. President Trump's tariffs are set to go
in effect. Exactly how this all goes down still remains
to be seen. We've got a three o'clock announcement our
time from the Rose Garden. In the meantime, overnight trading
is down across the board, with down futures off one
hundred and sixty points. But White House Press Secretary Carolyn
(22:46):
Levit says the tariffs are not about Wall Street at all.
Speaker 30 (22:50):
The President wants to ensure that all Americans make out well,
particularly Main Street. That's the focus of these tariffs. But
as I've said repeatedly, just like they did in like
they were in his first term.
Speaker 6 (23:01):
Wall Street will be just fine more on tariffs.
Speaker 8 (23:03):
At six o'clock, there was more Democrat grand standing in
Capitol Hill. New Jersey Senator Corey Booker spoke on the
Senate floor for more than twenty five hours against everything Trump.
Speaker 31 (23:15):
That's the first ever filibuster in American history from Corey
Booker in favor of getting men into women's sports, keeping
our borders open, and making sure that we tax the

A lot of the concern that people have right now
that the Texas House isn't moving fast out and not
taking the job seriously enough. That's a problem for a

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Interestingly, you don't like it that much anymore. All those
named fast food chains are losing customers, and they're losing
customers fast and they're shutting down locations. There are six
of them right now that are going through a difficult time.
Here's the list. Number one on the list Wendy's. They
close down one hundred and forty underperforming locations by the
(27:20):
end of twenty twenty four. They're focused on building new
restaurants because quote, we know they deliver well over the
average of these poor performing restaurants. We want the best
restaurants for our customers in that customer experience we want
to deliver. Problem is, well, I'll get to the problem
with all these fast food chains in the second. Number
two Denny's. Denny's has closed down one hundred and fifty locations.
(27:43):
I think in Denny's case, it's got more to do
with just kind of overbuilding. There's so many of them.
Number three Pizza Hunt. Pizza Hunt has been shutting down
some of their locations. There's a lot of competition in
the pizza industry. I think Pizza Hut's good pizza. The
problem is they don't have any sit down locations anymore,
you know, and maybe they just weren't able to make
(28:06):
the sit down locations work. You know, there's not a
lot of dining in pizza places, and at least not
out of a national brand. Number four KFC, Number five McDonald's,
and number six Red Robin, who's closing fifteen stores this year.
But they're hoping they can kind of turn things around.
My only issue with Red Robin it's a great place
(28:27):
for kids, and therefore there's a lot of kids making
a lot of noise, and a lot of parents who
are watching their kids making a lot of noise. So
it's not a good place to go if you are
an adult looking for anything close to a quiet meal.
I think the problem that the fast food restaurants all
have right now is that their prices have gone to
the point where it's no longer the cheap alternative just
(28:49):
about any and if you are going to go to
a fast food restaurant, you're going to want a place
that's consistent, right where you know you're going to get
a burger or whatever that's really really good. And for me,
that's what a burger. I have never been to a
water Burger and had a bad experience. As far as
the food, the food's always good, the customer service is
always good, it's always consistent. They're always clean and well
(29:10):
maintained anyone I've ever been to, And the same cannot
be said about those other brands. At least at this point,
Chick fil A is doing well because the same thing
very consistent. The people still think there's a certain value
in the food that they're getting, and it's a place
that you could take the whole family to. And and
if you're going to spend more than you used to
(29:31):
spend on fast food, then you're you're going to want
to have that. You're not going to want to have
a you know, a burger that, so it's like a
hockey buckets, so crunchy. So anyway, I'm kind of curious
here because there, of course, are blaming the economy and
the fact that inflation and menu prices have gone up,
And I'm curious if we've got a lot of places
(29:52):
that used to be busy are not as busy anymore.
I feel like the restaurant, you know, for for a
while there, people were still going on to eat no
matter what it's seemingly cost. I feel like people are
pulling back on that now now wondering if you're seeing
the same thing. Do you eat out as much as
you used to? Do you eat at the same restaurants
that you've always eaten at, or have or have menu

prices caused you to change your habits. Go to the

Here in Houston's Morning News. I would loved I would
love to have been there, just to see this half
and Kid Rock was at the White House. We placed
some audio from him yesterday. He was at the White
House for an executive order that the President signed, but
that was not the only reason why he was there.
He had also brought along Bill Maher, the late night
(33:15):
comic who's so critical of President Trump. Bill Maher had
never been to the White house before, so he took
him there so that they could have dinner and sit
down and talk and maybe Bill Maher's mind has been
changed a little bit about Donald Trump. More than that
coming up next, but first, let's do a little traffic

Five fifty three is our time here in Houston's port news.
So Kid Rock is at the White House, which evidently
doesn't have a dress code. I mean, he's got he's
got unique fashion sense. You gotta remember, this guy's from Michigan, right,
and you're probably thinking yourself, what do you mean, Jimmy,
I mean, that's that's that's a northern city.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
What do you mean?
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Because he kind of dresses a little bit like a
redneck bimp, which is his thing. But you've got to
remember that there's a lot of people who live in
Michigan with Southern roots. They came from Kentucky and Tennessee
and in states like that. During World War Two, those
families moved up there to work in the munitions plants,
making tanks and bombers and all that kind of stuff.
(36:08):
You know that when the automakers switched over production for
the war for World War two, and they just ended
up staying there. So so you got you got your
fair fair share of rednecks up there. That's a that's
a fact. So Kid Rocks he's at the White House.
Bill Maher has come along. They have dinner at the
White House, and of course everybody wants to know what
what was that?
Speaker 11 (36:29):
Like?
Speaker 3 (36:29):
President Trumpet, Bill Maher and Kid Rock and I think
a few other people having dinner.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Here's kid Rock.
Speaker 40 (36:35):
I went on Bill's show, I went on his podcast,
and I said, man, you know, nothing happens if people
don't break bread together and me face to face. He's
been one of the president's hardest critics. And we came
to dinner with me, Bill, Dana White, and it could
not have been better. Everyone was so surprised, so so pleasant.
The most shocking thing to me was, you know, Bill's
(36:56):
obviously very big liberal, been very hard in the president,
but he's donating a lot of money to other politicians.
You know, you've had Biden, Clinton, Obama, everybody. He had
never been to the White House and the President was
so gracious. He took us up to the private residence.
We saw the Gettysburg address in the Lincoln bedroom and
I was like, you've never been here, Bill, And I
was like, how about this President Trump, you know, extending
(37:16):
this olive branch and like and we talked about things
we had in common, you know, ending wokeness, you know,
you know, securing the border. You know, the President was
asking him what he thought about policy, you know, of
going on with Iran and Israel and things.
Speaker 41 (37:29):
It was.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
It just meant it blew my mind. It was I
was I was, you know, very very proud.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
Do you think he walked away liking him? Because you know,
Trump is the type of person that you got to
meet him to understand it.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
One hundred percent, one hundred percent.
Speaker 40 (37:45):
Me and Dana both said there was like there's never
been in that's ever ever met the president and any
scenario that's walked away without saying like, Wow, what a
great guy. He's so funny, he's so engaging, he's so smart,
and absolutely Bill even said to me, you know after that,
he goes as wow, that was you know, everybody's mind
was kind of blown, even the presidents. I think, as
the President called me late night last night, and you know,
(38:07):
everyone was a little suspect about going into this, and
even the President kind of alerts to me a little
bit like what do you got me doing?
Speaker 4 (38:13):
I go, man, We're just trying to.
Speaker 40 (38:14):
Show people that, you know, even though we've been pretty
hard on each other, that when you get face to face,
maybe we could have a little more civility in this
country and try to bring people together.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Yeah, and that was my whole intention.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Well it worked, I guess to a certain extent. Of course,
We'll see how Bill Maher behaves towards Trump going forward.
But it's not a bad strategy. It's worth trying. You know,
maybe there's a few liberals that can be convinced that
the Trump's not this fascist nazi whatever that they the
far progressive left wants people to think. Five fifty six.

President Trump will impose tariffs on trade partners that, as
he says, have been ripping us off.
Speaker 42 (40:54):
President Trump says he is settled on a tariff plan,
he just hasn't detailed what it is. Tariff on imported
automobiles and parts are scheduled to begin, on top of
tariffs on aluminum, steel and other items. White House Trade
advisor Peter Navarro says tariffs could raise six hundred billion
dollars a year. Investors have worried about the tariffs and
the uncertainty around them. The White House has promised that

who just don't remember it's April Fool's Day, right, Well,
(46:51):
there were several companies who decided to participate in April
Fool's Day, and their stunts actually worked, at least to
a certain extent. People actually believed it was true, and
in some cases they were disappointed when it turned out
it wasn't the top April Fool's Day brand stunts. This
year included Hidden Valley Ranch flavored soda from Ollipop, Yahoo's
(47:13):
Touch grass keyboard, cat poop scented candles, and an electric
butt shaver. So I just mentioned the Hidden Valley Ranch
flavored soda, the Touch keyboard from Yahoo. They posted a
video of a keyboard with grass growing out of each
key and claimed it was immediately sold out. The cat
(47:36):
poop scented candles, I can see, I can see where
this might work. A pet tech company called Whisker announced
a candle called cat Pooh spelled pu cat Poo number two.
It's real, but it doesn't actually smell like a litter box.
It's rose scented. And then the one, the one that
somebody evidently probably thought this is. I bet there was
(47:57):
a lot of women who might actually be willing to
buy something this for the man. An electric shaver for
your butt, dude wipe steamed up with manscaped for the
dude man. A shaver with a cone shaped attachment, so
you can, you know, really get in there and clear
up all the hair.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
It's not real, though, you can't really buy it.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
And mood matching lingerie bras and panties that changed color
like a mood Ring. The lingerie brand Journelle was behind
that one. And here's also one more for you that
I thought was particularly good. Josh Sellers claimed they were
launching a line of stylish modern couches and chairs with
built in wine stains, so that you don't have to
worry about spelling wine on your furniture because the patterns
(48:43):
like a wine stain, it won't matter. Six ten Time
for traffic and weather together catpoop candles, it would be great.
Speaker 4 (48:49):

fast food Chains, kentucky fribably checking the McDonald's up to
the typical Ones, denny's who are struggling right now that
they have been losing some, customers mainly they think because,
they you, know the menu prices have had to go
up in order to keep up with, inflation and that's
when people start making decisions about how they're going to
(51:10):
eat out and if they're going to eat. Out and you,
Know i've been wondering for a long, time how high
would menu prices need to be before we start changing
our habits about eating, out and we now eat at
home two days a. WEEK i mean that doesn't sound like,
MUCH i, know but we used to eat out basically
seven days a. Week we, now you, KNOW i cook

Speaker 3 (54:27):
America, yeah there's no tariff if it's made In. America
the problem problem is finding things that are made In.
America sometimes today's the Day Liberation, day Says President. Trump
today's the day the tariffs go into. Effect supposedly they
go into effect, automatically so they're starting. Today there's a
twenty five percent, tariff for, example on automobiles that are
(54:48):
not assembled In. America if it's NOT i it's a foreign,
vehicle it's twenty five percent added on to the purchase.
Price it gets a little more complicated when you talk
about other vehicles that are even assembled here but maybe
have parts some of the parts that are. Foreign so
it could get, complicated but it could definitely be raising.
Prices Senator John, kennedy one of my, favorites as you, know,
(55:11):
yesterday got asked about the tariff situation and about. Taxes
here's what he had to. SAY i Think.
Speaker 46 (55:17):
President trump won the selection in large, Part, larry because
people felt like he would be better in terms of the.
Speaker 4 (55:25):
Economy what does that? Mean that means lower.
Speaker 46 (55:29):
Prices better quality of. Life our plan is to do
that in through. Ways Number, one reduce, spending which will
cause interest rates to go down and stimulate the. Economy
less deregulate the economy so.
Speaker 4 (55:45):
Goods and services will be.
Speaker 46 (55:48):
Cheaper and number, three design a tax code that looks
like somebody designed it on. Purpose, now what role could
tariffs play in all of? This the truth is nobody.

equal and opposite, economist and they're both usually. Wrong some
of these experts make those late night psychic hotlines look. Respectable, yes,
SIR i do know. THIS i understand Where President trump
(56:41):
is coming. From america is the wealthiest country in all
of human. History is consumer. Driven our people like to buy.

he's saying to every business and every country in the,

we do not know yet what the impact of these
tariffs are going to.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
Be, well he took us time getting, there BUT i
think the most important thing That Senator kennedy said there Was,
yeah in the long, run it's the right thing to,
do but in the short run it could be. Painful
we'll see six twenty. Seven time to take a look

mean we've got the guy on tape, right he killed,
him he Killed United HEALTHCARE. Ceo, Yoah, NO i don't
feel the need to throw the word accused in, There,
Okay nor DO i feel the need to feel sorry
that The department Of justice has Decided Pam bondi has
(01:05:28):
decided to put the death. Penalty this is going to
be a death penalty. Case he executed the. Man he
executed the man for running a healthcare company and in his,
MIND i guess being responsible for what people paying too
(01:05:49):
much for healthcare, insurance for people not getting all the
coverage that they need or being denied. COVERAGE i guess
that's part of. It and maybe that's the part of
it that, SOMEHOW i guess if you've had that happen to,
YOU i can certainly understand how you could hate somebody
(01:06:09):
or want to argue against the way healthcare companies operate
or do their. Business but that still does not give
you the right to murder somebody in cold. Blood but
there are plenty of progressives who think that's perfectly. Okay
it's amazing to me how much violence comes from the far.
Left there is something out there called The december Fourth Legal.

Committee december the fourth is the date That luigimanngjon murdered
THE ceo Of United. Healthcare thus the. Name this guy's

do not condone, murder and for that, reason we cannot
condone the actions Of United. Healthcare luigi is simply being
accused of standing up to the systematized murder of millions
Of americans at the hands of a broken healthcare, system
AND i think that's very.

of support every single time that the state tries to
come down and crack down harder On. Luigi his spirit doesn't,
waiver but the outpouring of support swells up. More and you,
KNOW i think the reason for that is what happened
last year On december fourth really revealed an underlying situation
within our society that that only that, act pragmatically, speaking
(01:07:50):
seems to have. Revealed and in that, situation of, course
is the fact that hundreds of millions of people around
the world understand that these deeply crooked orally bankrupt corporate elites,
are at the most fundamental, level the enemies of those
who want peace in this, world the enemies of those
who believe in dignity and justice for.

I mean i still sometimes look at the sticker PRICE that,
i go how in the world had they gotten?
Speaker 4 (01:12:45):
So expensive?
Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
Just crazy but they're likely to get more expensive with
these tariffs going, into place because virtually every automobile has
at least some parts they come from somewhere else unless
there's an exemption on, those parts and it'll be a
twenty five percent tariff. On that so the price of
just about every car truck is likely to go up
if these tariffs go into, effect today which they're supposed.
(01:13:07):
To Do, Rick case automotive PRESIDENT And Ceo, rita case
On The fox business talking about the impact of.
Speaker 4 (01:13:16):
Car tariffs there are a lot.
Speaker 47 (01:13:18):
Of cars that people think are foreign built like, You
know honda are that are built and manufactured In The.
United states so there'll be a lot of interesting people talking.
About THAT but i truly believe that, all manufacturers whether
you precede them to be domestic or import or, foreign
(01:13:40):
built are going to be affected by the tariffs in
one way or another and increase the prices to.
Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
The public so if.
Speaker 50 (01:13:47):
They don't do a carve out for parts, and components
doesn't that mean that everything that you're selling is going.
Speaker 47 (01:13:53):
To COST war i believe that all cars Sold in
america are going to have an impact from, the tariffs
some more. Than others based on what you were saying with.
Speaker 24 (01:14:03):
The components, the.
Speaker 47 (01:14:04):
Engines, the transmissions and the electrical components are the ones
that they are specifically pointing out will have the twenty
five percent tariff on them if they're not manufactured In
The united states but imported in and then Assembled In
american american Manufacturer or american. Assembly plants but every single
(01:14:26):
brand is going to have tariffs on their vehicles at
some level. Of another some will have a twenty five
percent tariff if one hundred percent of the car is
imported Into The. United states and some will have a
percentage if they're assembled In The united states but have
components outside Of The united states that have been, shipped
in like, For Example mercedes benz who does assemble some
(01:14:48):
cars here In The, united states but they bring in
their Parts.
Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
From, germany, okay well there. You go that's about the
best way we can. Explain it it's not just dealerships
they're going to have to deal. With this what about your,
friendly mechanic, you know whatever parts. They use if those
parts are coming from somewhere outside Of The, united states
then you know there'll be a terrify. On that, you
know there'd be a lot of things that are going
to be hit. By this repairing your car is going

not talking about just your. Big flag we're talking about
your big ass flag. HE likes i mean we're talking
about a really really. Big flag and he's been flagged
in some of the communities he's in for flying that really,
big flag Even, In Greenville. North carolina you think the

Folks of greenville bigger the better on the, flag, Thing

Speaker 49 (01:25:05):
At fox, you know if this was Happening, in california
or it did Happen, IN oregon i wouldn't be as
surprised to. Your Point In, North Carolina, South, carolina tennessee
you wouldn't think, this existed but. It does and the
other problem that we have is that we're dealing with
politics inside, the city where the mayors are calling me
telling me that they're in favor, of us but some.
Speaker 4 (01:25:25):
Of their city council.
Speaker 49 (01:25:26):
Members are out, ruling them which is telling us what
the next election is going to. LOOK like i think
part of it is is that, you know there's an
ordinance in, the city and the ordinance has been there for,
a while and the ordinance requires a certain. Sized flag
the actual square footage our flag is.
Speaker 24 (01:25:42):
Thirty two hundred. Square feet it's forty.
Speaker 49 (01:25:44):
By eighty there's two hundred of them around, the country
so it's.
Speaker 4 (01:25:47):
Not NEW and i think that they just feel like
the defiance is.
Speaker 49 (01:25:51):
Not Good and i've received countless text messages and phone
calls and emails criticizing me for Feeling like i'm above.
The law how could rich people not follow? The law
how are successful businesses not following? The law first, of
all it's, an ORDINANCE and i think you need to
have a little. Perspective here second, of all the Fact
that i've had some success, in business and we got
(01:26:13):
to stop demonizing capitalism in. This country but the fact
that we've had success in business is NOT why i
have the. Flag up i've had the flag up in
my FAMILY since i was a. Little kid and, you
KNOW whether i put it into a barbecue Place In
south CAROLINA or i donated to a city on the River,
in illinois that's the THING that.
Speaker 7 (01:26:30):
I Do and i've told you, guys Before and i'll tell.
Speaker 49 (01:26:32):
Everybody else i'm going to keep putting them Up and
i'm not going to take them DOWN because i don't
feel like it's. Hurting anybody.
Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
It's not it's not hurting. A, soul now the beauty
of Living, In houston texas is we have no. FLAG
ordinance i looked. IT up I can't i can't find.
One anyway there's nothing to prevent you from flying a
thirty six hundred square Foot flag, american flag if that's
what you want to do in the City. Of, houston
now if you live in a neighborhood that as a homeotors,
(01:26:59):
isgotiation that that's a. DIFFERENT story, i mean if you
want to put up a, you know a sixty foot
flag bowl with, a, big Huge hawking, american flag then
your a joy is probably gonna have something to say.
About that they cannot prevent you from Flying the, american
flag but they could have some influence over how you
display that flag and how big that. Flag is but
in the City of, houston, itself now we don't care much.
(01:27:22):
For ordinances here seven to eleven die for traffic and whether.
To go what's that sky mine.
Speaker 7 (01:27:26):

minutes on the tens.
Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
Seven two Here At Houston's. Morning news, liberation Days How
president trump refers. To it so are we really going
to feel liberated at the end of the? Day today
let's let's ask somebody who knows a little something more.
About this he's chairman Of The house Committee On. Small
Business Representative roger williams, JOINS us i know you're a
fan of what the president. Is doing, Quite frankly i'm
(01:31:27):
a fan of what the. President's doing but do you
have any concerns, because today, for example if the automotive,
tariffs happen if we end up with the twenty five percent,
automotive tariffs that's going to probably affect just about, every
car no matter where, it's assembled that's Sold. In america
the price is going to. Go up is this short
term pain for long term gain in?
Speaker 39 (01:31:46):
Your? Mind, Well absolutely and as, YOU mentioned I am
i've been in the. Car business i'm a.
Speaker 33 (01:31:50):
Car dealer won't serve with car Dealerships In north texas
for the last, fifty years so we've been through.
Speaker 39 (01:31:55):
Some things, BUT no i totally support What the.
Speaker 33 (01:31:57):
President's doing we've got to get a handle on our
on this deficiency with. World trade we need to be the,
you know we need to be, the makers we need
to be the sellers of and that'll begin to. Do
this as far as the auto industry, Is concerned i'm
not concerned about.
Speaker 5 (01:32:10):
The.
Speaker 33 (01:32:10):
Tariffs uh, you know one thing about our industry is
everytail dealers will always find a way to sell what
they have.
Speaker 39 (01:32:16):
In inventory and if.
Speaker 33 (01:32:17):
The cost of good soul goes up a little bit
because the tariffs and the and the car may be
sit on, the, lot uh the dealer is going, to
sell going to discount and, sell it and the customer
is going to read the benefit of. The discount they're
also going, to forget, don't forget they're going to get a.
Tax cuts we're going to pass the. Tax cuts and
also the used car market's going to be. Going up
so coupled with the discount on the purchase from, the
(01:32:40):
dealer the year's car having, more value they have, more
equity more cash in your pocket from, TAX cuts i
think we're going to be. JUST fine i think that
what it'll do it it will settle down and the
market will get, Flat.
Speaker 3 (01:32:51):
Again OKAY and i think that most of what the
presence has been doing is an attempt to get countries
that treat us unfairly just to treat.
Speaker 4 (01:32:59):
Us fairly that that's all they have to do and
the tariffs, go, Away, right well.
Speaker 39 (01:33:02):
Trees.
Speaker 33 (01:33:03):
FAIRLY yeah, i mean if you're going to add a
dollar to, My mind i'm going to add a dollar.
To years but the fact of the matter is if
these big companies and cleaning the auto manufacturers will commit
to build their plants and expand their Plants, in america
they don't have to worry about.
Speaker 39 (01:33:15):
The TARIFFS and i think you're going to see more
and more. Of that and what that what that'll mean is,
more income, more employees and.
Speaker 3 (01:33:21):
More customers, you know as far as the impact on your,
business own it's not just it's not just what it
adds to potential sticker price on.
Speaker 4 (01:33:29):
A vehicle.
Speaker 3 (01:33:29):
It's parts and Assuming that i'm assuming that the parts
that are foreign made for vehicles are also going to
be part of the twenty five, Percent tariff so you
can build the car In The. United states but if
you're using parts that come, from overseas then there'll be
a tariff on. The parts have you folks done any
figuring in your your car. DEALERSHIP wort i know how
(01:33:50):
busy you are in the, house there but if you've done,
Any figuring i'm what it is likely to do to
the cost of repairing, a vehicle.
Speaker 33 (01:33:57):
For, example well we don't know exactly what it's GOING
to i think at four o'clock In the, eastern time
the present is going to talk exactly what content's going to.
Look like but here's the bottom line to, any business
and certainly, my industry is we've got to work under
the conditions.
Speaker 39 (01:34:11):
That we, find them and that's all we.
Speaker 33 (01:34:12):
Can DO and i know in the auto industry we
will find a way to get our prices. In line
we will find a way to make sure the consumer
can afford to purchase. A VEHICLE and i think at
the end of, the day we'll have more. PLANTS here
i think you're going to see more improvements on. EXISTING
plants i think it's all going to settle down and
the industry will be back where. It was, you know
we had tariffs back in twenty sixteen somewhat and they
(01:34:35):
give you a little jolt in, the beginning but they
settle in and again THE customer i think. WILL benefit
i think at the end of, the day when you
couple The things i've, talked about between discounts between equities
and used cars and prices that, use cars and more
cash fro tax, TAX cuts i think you actually could
buy a vehicle today for.
Speaker 39 (01:34:54):
With a tariff, on it as opposed to. ONE without
i think you could buy for.
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
Less, Money, Interesting Okay. Represented williams i'm curious HERE because
i Know that President of trump has made a lot
about now potentially maybe we could do away with the.
Income tax maybe this country used to be able to
fund itself on tariffs and. Tariffs alone do you think
we could ever get back. To that do you see
under any circumstances where we could abolish or at least
(01:35:19):
significantly reduce the federal?
Speaker 33 (01:35:21):
Income, TAX well i think most, of us most of
your listens would agree at least let's try it for, heaven's,
Sakes right but, you know at pre, nineteen thirteen there
wasn't any.
Speaker 39 (01:35:30):
Income, tax tariffs as, you said funded.
Speaker 33 (01:35:32):
The government and we have such a huge, economy here
and you bring other Companies into america The employ. AMERICAN workers,
i mean who knows we might be able to. Do
it it's certainly worth. A try i think most people
would say let's try it and see because it, you
know taxes are. A burden but at the, same time
we're going to cut taxes come the end of, this
month Hopefully, into april and we'll see a huge, tax
(01:35:54):
decrease which means more money in the pockets of the
consumer and. More OPPORTUNITIES so, i say. Let's try, a's
right but let's also have our eyes. Wide open if we,
won't work cutting taxes.
Speaker 4 (01:36:04):
Is the way, to go. ALL right i agree, with.
You sir thank you for your. Time today good to talk.
Speaker 21 (01:36:07):

hundreds of locations across. The, country now a part of
it might be that they, just, overbuilt right we don't
need to really have, a McDonald's, you know to McDonald's
for every square mile In The united States. OF america
i don't think that might be part. Of it but,
(01:44:20):
THE reality i think for much of this is is
that we're starting to make more difficult choices about eating
out and where we're going to, eat out and how
we're going to spend our money, eating out or if
we're going to eat out, at all because menu prices,
just continue they keep. On increasing there's just seemingly no end.

the border it. Actually works when people know that if
they cross the border they're going to get kicked back
to their country of origin or Back. Into mexico they,
stopped coming and we said that. All Along that biden

Speaker 20 (01:51:39):
Seats Again new york is looking at losing congressional, seats
again as are many of these other. Liberal States so
Texas and florida are picking up seats and they don't.
Like that SO that's i think the primary reason why they.

horrible individuals these cartel, members are but they evidently are
fairly smart. Business people they've realized that they can't really
smuggle people Into The united, states anymore so they are
smuggling people out Of The. United States why WHY would
i need to hire the cartel to get me out of?
Speaker 20 (01:52:15):
The, country well you think it'd be easy to just
come back Down To eagle path and walk back across,
the river or go To the gallas and step across.
The border but it's not that simple because the border
is controlled by, the cartels whether you're coming, or going
and so, you know it's just not the situation that
you want to be going Back into mexico without having paid,
(01:52:39):
your dues if, you will to. The cartels you want
to make sure that once you get back across that
you're not going to get kidnapped and, you know raped
and attacked and beat and robbed and all of that kind.
Of stuff, you know they're going to be going back
with money that they made while they were here In The.
Speaker 4 (01:52:55):
United, states yes so.
Speaker 39 (01:52:57):
They've got a.
Speaker 20 (01:52:57):
Secure passage and these guys are absolutely, YOU know i
mentioned the other day that it's like the radar detector
guys versus the guys that make the police. Radar guns
they're always one upping each other trying to. Step, ahead
well the cartels are just. Like that they figure out
what we're doing and they find a way to count
it because they are going to make money.
Speaker 4 (01:53:18):
Either way it's really, quite amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:53:20):
Isn't it SO so i guess the cartail is one
of the smartest things they did is they basically sold one.
Speaker 4 (01:53:26):
Way.
Speaker 3 (01:53:26):
Tickets right you don't get a round trip ticket with, a,
cartel right they're charging you again to.
Speaker 20 (01:53:31):
Go, home well and it was a one way ticket
without guaranteed destination delivery, as well because you apprehended at.
The border they don't, care either they've already, been paid so,
you know it's an amazing business model. For them many
of these cartels make more money by smuggling human beings
and torturing human beings and all of the other things
(01:53:52):
that we've.
Speaker 39 (01:53:52):
Talked about in the past than they do buy.
Speaker 20 (01:53:54):
Smudge drugs but the great news is that now that
the border patrol is not babysitting and nursing and feeding
tens of thousands of migrants crossing, the border they're actually
able to get out there and find drug smugglers and.
Bust them and they're finding convicted murderers that are coming
back into the country and prosecuting them. As well so
(01:54:15):
they're able to do their jobs for the first time in.
Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
Four, years YEAH and i just to quick answer if
you would on this because we're almost out. Of Time
but are we having an impact on the fentanyl coming
into the country at?
Speaker 4 (01:54:25):
This point? Is that are we? Making, progress well they
are getting record numbers of.
Speaker 20 (01:54:29):
Seizures, here again the cartels are very.
Speaker 4 (01:54:31):
Clever guys they're.
Speaker 39 (01:54:32):
Going to figure out other ways are getting.
Speaker 20 (01:54:34):
It Done the canadian border is wide open and if
they can get it Up to canada and bring it in,
that way they're going to do that.
Speaker 3 (01:54:40):
