La teoría más difundida se origina con el relato de un viejo marinero y soldado que, en su lecho de muerte, confesó haber sido parte de la tripulación de Kidd y haber ayudado a enterrar millones de dólares en oro en “una isla remota al este de Boston”.
Incluso una cancion popular, La balada del Capitán Kidd, podría contener pistas ocultas sobre el destino de ese tesoro perdido.
Se cree que el botín enterrado —cuya ubicación exacta sigue siendo un misterio— podría superar los 60 millones de dólares.
