(00:21):
Here we are September and the new format for the show has
started. If any you guys have noticed
that on I've changed an updated.Maybe I've changed too much but
updated the entire look of the show across all of the socials
and trying to mix it up a littlebit.
It was time for a refresh. It was definitely time for a
(00:42):
refresh to get this show a little updated look, a colour
scheme that matches all across the board and as you can tell,
I'm talking a lot today so my voice isn't the best.
Not in great shape right now because I am in interview mode.
I am doing a lot of interviews right now and it's it's fun,
(01:04):
exciting to be back to it, to domore music interviews for the
show and those will be coming out soon, next Sunday.
Keep out, on out for that. It's all coming back.
That's what this episode is all about, the Hail Mary, the hell
Mary out there for many reasons.Just throwing it out there
(01:24):
because everybody who listens tothe show, who wants to be on the
show should listen to this episode.
And why would I want to do that?Well, many reasons.
An update on interviews for those wanting to be on the show.
It takes time. It takes time as people reach
out to me. I have to reach out back and
(01:45):
scheduling is not the easiest thing to do as I have a set
schedule. I have set hours to interview
and those Phillips super quicklynow.
There is a lot of artists that don't always understand this
because I have set hours every block of bookings and outside of
(02:08):
that it's first come, first serve.
So the sooner you respond, the sooner you get a spot.
And I know not everybody can decide to schedule immediately,
but if I e-mail you, if I message you with a schedule of
what's available, that's what's available at that moment.
(02:28):
So when four or five days it's definitely booked.
I book within probably a 24 hourperiod every time I get a block
of hours, so those go quick and that that it's good, but it's
also bad because it can't fit everybody in.
And for bands and artists that don't get back to me in time,
(02:52):
they get left out and have to put it back in the cycle, back
on the wait list. And that's hundreds of people.
So I usually don't get a chance to get back to that person right
away until probably the next year because I have to cycle
through everybody who wants to be on the show.
And this is that's just how it works.
We have to remember that there'shundreds of artists that want to
(03:14):
be featured not just on this show, but on all shows like
mine, and it's not that easy to get through everybody.
Those that respond the quickest get the best chance.
That's just how it works. I don't.
I wouldn't want to wait on something like that.
If I'm going to promote myself, I don't want to wait for a
response. If I'm being promoted somewhere,
(03:37):
I don't want to wait to get backto that person because they're
doing something that's beneficial to me.
And the same thing on my end. I don't like waiting for a
response because somebody's justgonna grab it and I'm reaching
out to you to help and feature you.
It's a lot of work on my part sowhen I reach out remember that's
(03:58):
hours on my end and I don't do this full time.
Feels like it. I mentioned this before on other
shows. It takes a lot of time to get
prepped for an episode to record, produce, distribute,
promote. It's a lot of work so people
don't show up, don't support, don't know anything.
It's a waste of time. So we have to be aware of where
(04:20):
getting ourselves into. That's one thing there and
interviewing is a big thing. I do have a lot of fun with it.
It's how I find a lot of interesting music that gets on
the playlist, which I'll mentiona little bit more later.
But there's a lot of work that goes into pitching me on
different things because a pitchand through e-mail or insta,
(04:49):
it's very important if you want to grab my attention and stand
out. And it's not hard.
Seriously, the easiest pitches. Hey love this show, would love
to be on it. Boom, That's it.
That's it, and if you've heard of the show already, hey Jacob,
cool show, would love to be partof it.
Done. That is the number one best
(05:10):
pitch ever. That's how you get my attention.
That's the easiest one liner. Like, Yep, this person knows
what they're doing. You know what's not fun?
You know what, I I hate seeing AI generator pictures all the
time. All the time.
(05:31):
I love the way you covered this episode with this issue and the
feelings of this and you added this and this and that and they
break it down. I'm like, nobody has listened to
this episode just like this. No one breaks down in episodes
like this. No one I know.
I use AI for things. I trialed AI writing like that
(05:55):
summarizing and all the pitches are similar like how you talked
about this and the great focus on that.
No no no, no one talks like this.
No one writes 3 paragraph pitch on breaking down an episode and
how relevant their topic is to being on the show.
(06:17):
No no no, they're literally all the same.
All three of the It's a three paragraph pitch.
First paragraph complements you and your last episode.
Second paragraph relates their topic to your show.
Third paragraph pitches them. Every single one is the same.
(06:37):
It's a bunch of bullshit. Block, delete and if I'm bored I
answer like why do you use AI topitch me?
That's not personal, that's not showing attention.
And I started actually emailing these people back with have you
listened to this show? Because listening to the show is
key. How?
(07:00):
How do you know that whoever this is mostly for agencies,
whoever you're pitching is the right person to be on the show?
Honestly. And I and I don't have issues
with people that don't have anything to do with music
industry being on the show. Cool.
I don't if it's something I haveinterest in talking about, I
will have you on the show. But if it's health and Wellness,
(07:22):
I'm not doing that right now. I haven't done that since five
years ago. And if it's, you know, things,
you're getting over motivationalstuff.
No, I have never done that on this show.
Why would you pitch something like that?
What it tells me is these agencies are just blindly firing
(07:43):
things out there and hoping to be picked up, Just just randomly
spamming people with their pitches.
I don't do that. The whole point of this show is
to be more audience and artist, interactive and close and
(08:06):
meaningful, not just some randomshit that you forget about 5
minutes from now. And with the Shore means
something. And if you would discover a song
from the show that you add to playlist and you listen to for
years online on end, I want you to remember that episode because
you discovered something. That is the whole damn goal.
(08:28):
So knowing who you're pitching, how you're pitching is key.
It's super simple, not overcomplicated.
Now these agencies and other people that spam my e-mail, it's
really annoying and it gets in the way of trying to get things
organized for recording seasons. And I recorded about four times
a year, get my bookings in, and then I'm good.
(08:53):
What gets in the way is this bullshit that I got to deal
with. And it happens.
It happens and I'm trying to getthrough it all.
Is just unnecessary. How does this person benefit my
audience is another question because some of these pictures
are of nothing to do with anything this show has ever
done. And it might be cool for another
(09:16):
podcast, but if you don't do your research, just basically
spam people. I don't have patience for that
anymore. I'm over it as a six years
almost. I'm doing this show and I don't
have patience. Almost 400 episodes and you
can't even listen to 1? I don't have time for you.
(09:36):
Playlists, like I mentioned earlier, are key.
Also outside of that banter, because playlists are an awesome
summary of all the music on thisshow that has its all genres on
these play 2 playlists ones for guests once for one playlist is
for featured songs, which I episodes that I just do music on
(09:59):
which I haven't done in a long time because of time
restrictions. So check out the playlist.
There's two a lot of fun, a lot of music, 200 plus songs, and
it's a lot of fun. Now, if you've paid attention to
this episode and listened, and Ithank you if you have, I
appreciate you. It's going to be more
(10:21):
conversational to balance out the interviews.
I see the numbers, I see the listens, I see what people pay
attention to. And yes, interviews are great
for music discovery. I love it.
But there is a section of this audience that only listens to
the conversational episodes where I do this.
If you want more of this, let meknow, but as of right now, I'm
(10:44):
going to have to balance out theinterviews with conversation
just for everybody. If you want more of this and me
commenting on different things in the entertainment world,
music strategies, promotional strategies, podcast things,
music and podcast related things, Spotify issues, anything
like that, you can let me know. You let me know.
(11:07):
I'll be more than happy to have a conversation about something
like that because I see there's two different audiences, one for
the music, one for me speaking. Maybe you like my takes on
things. I'm not very controversial on
this podcast, this one in particular, but if there's a
want for that, I can get into other topics and it's really
(11:32):
easy to follow. If you subscribe on Spotify,
this is the host, my host for this podcast even.
You can listen anywhere if you subscribe to on Spotify or
anywhere else, Apple and every other podcast streaming platform
worldwide. I appreciate you.
Please see me some feedback. Ratings would be fantastic.
Five stars, 4 stars, one star. I don't care.
(11:54):
Be honest, just telling you right now, if you give me a 1*2*
please tell me why Boring soundslike shit.
Do better. Cool, love it.
Feedback fantastic. Five stars, same thing.
Great episode, love the song, add it to my playlist.
Cool, awesome, fantastic. Give me those feedback too.
(12:15):
I'll take it. So that's the helm area I'm
throwing out there. That's the idea.
That's where you can look forward to this second part of
the year. Watch out for interviews coming
up next week. Fantastic artist as usual.
Can we get back to the music? Talk to you guys soon.
