Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Eric Mangini, the former Jet and Brown's head coach. He
disagrees with me a lot today. Let's bring him in
live and start with the Jets. I said to me,
if you start today April whatever it is, and you
go to January fifth, end of the regular season, the
only priority for the Jets to be viable keep Aaron

(00:46):
Rodgers upright, not tight in, just keep him up right.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Now.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I was okay with the offensive tackle, but you're bringing
up an interesting point during the break, and I want
you to share it with our audience on the Jets pick.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
So Joe Douglass comes in as introductory press conference. He
talks about how they're going to fix the offensive line.
So I look back at it. They've brought in thirty
offensive linemen since he's been there, thirty. They've drafted seven three,
number ones and number two, so they've drafted high. They
brought in twenty three free agents and spent somewhere between
one hundred and seventy five and two hundred million dollars

(01:21):
on free agent offensive linemen, and we're back to the
same spot. We're talking about keeping Aaron Rodgers upright. They
brought in three free agents this offseason to help fix
the offensive line. So at some point, like like, I
get it, they're trying and maybe just log averages this
this will work out. But you got an opportunity to

(01:41):
go get brock Bauers and play some twelve personnel, two
tight end sets where in that situation you've got quick
answers for Aaron Rodgers. You've got the ability to balance
the formation, run left, run right, throw to either side
out of balance formations, use those guys and protection.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
And it's just.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
I understand the old lines of problem, and I understand
you have a forty year old quarterback, but this process
hasn't worked. So maybe they've radically changed the process. But
we're talking about thirty guys that have come through there
and it's still a problem.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
No, that's a good point. Now, I thought it was
odd that the Falcons got a quarterback, but it's the
worst division in the sport. It's a bad division. They
now have the best starting quarterback, in my opinion, in
the division, and the best backup in the division, maybe
the best backup in the NFC or the league. I'm
okay being quarterback heavy for a year. And I don't

(02:35):
know what Kirk Cousins is going to look like at
thirty six off an Achilles, I'm okay with it.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
You don't like it, yeah, I heard you.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
I heard you auditioning for the Atlanta Falcons PR job earlier.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I do have a problem with it.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
And you and I heard you say, you know, if
you have a great asset, you have to ensure great asset. Okay,
but they're not a great asset. They haven't had a
winning season in six years. So become a great asset.
So you've got Kirk Cousins, You've got bees On Robinson,
you've got Drake London, you've got Kyle Picks again. You
can add an elite tight end, you can add another

(03:13):
star wide receiver. You've got a very good offensive line,
and you move forward with the one hundred million dollars
that you spent on the quarterback, and I'm good.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
With with a backup quarterback.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
I think it's important, and I think quarterbacks are currency,
and I think it's valuable. But but you're dealing with
the eighth pick overall, and you're dealing with a situation
where you've got a chance to take a real jump
as an offense and add another explosive weapon and maybe
become that great asset that we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
And yeah, if Kirk gets hurt, it could be a problem.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
But if Patrick Mahomes gets hurt, that's a problem too
for for Kansas City. So at that point, trade back
if that's if that's what you want to do, add
some assets. So if you are really good, maybe you're
picking high with the team that you traded with, just
like Chicago fund themselves in the situation with Carolina. But
the owner's eighty one years old. It's not like he's

(04:06):
sitting around waiting like I'm gonna wait another two or
three years for us to be the team that we
envisioned ourselves to be. So so you've got you don't
hire Bill Belichick. You could agree or disagree with that.
You make that decision, and then you draft a quarterback
after you sign a one hundred million dollar quarterback. You know,
if if I'm the owner, I'm sitting back and thinking

(04:30):
maybe maybe I got to reevaluate things.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yeah, the you know, people said I saw bon Nicks
play live twice. Oregon mostly schemed up his plays. But
that's what Sean Payton does. He like Shanahan, I'm gonna
scheme up to play, get rid of it fast and accurately.
I think boon Nicks works in Denver. He may be
a top of the second round guy, but I watched

(04:53):
them as a freshman beat an Oregon team and Justin
Herbert on the final drive as an eighteen year old.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I think he's a little I don't know. I like
Pennix and bo Nicks more than everybody else. I wasn't
a big JJ McCarthy guy. Did Denver reach in your
opinion on Nicks? I mean they need a quarterback, don't they.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Well, when Peyton man and talk, Peyton Manning talked about
Denver wanting JJ McCarthy, I have a feeling that Peyton
Manning was right. And when he looked at at the
draft room after they after they took him, it didn't
look like there was a lot of celebrating and high
fiving going on that they got bon Nicks. And maybe
I'm wrong on it, but it felt sort of like

(05:36):
that situation where you wake up Christmas morning and you're
hoping for an Xbox and you get a bunch of clothes, Like, yeah,
it's practical, it's it's okay, Like I get it.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
It's a nice it's nice that you got a.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Gift, and and and and it's the old adage. You
never want to go shopping hungry with that quarterback room
their shopping starving. Yeah, okay, so you got Stidham, you
got Zach, You've got Ben Denucci, and then you got
Russell Wi Wilson's ridiculous dead cap money, all sitting in
that quarterback room.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
You had to go get somebody.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
But I heard all the stats, and I heard all
the positive things, but you watch the reaction. It didn't
feel like that passion that you get when you got someone. Hey,
we couldn't believe he was there. We're so lucky he
fell to us. None of those none of those comments
were coming out out of the you know, the the
post draft interviews.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
So the Raiders didn't move up to get a quarterback.
They got a tremendous tight end. What did you say
about that? What do you think about that?

Speaker 4 (06:36):
It looked like they took best available at that point.
And I've always felt that a tight end is incredibly
valuable because of the type of pressure that they can
put on the inside of the defense and how that
opens up everything outside. And we see it all the
time with Travis Kelce, the value that has and if
you need quick answers, and we talk about protection for quarterbacks,

(07:00):
the tight end can be that protection because they get
open quickly. They give you throws that are makeable and
easy completions. And to add a player like that and
an explosive player like that, to me, I think not
only helps them offensively inside, but it helps open up
things outside and to some degree the running game.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
What was your favorite pick? Did you have one you loved?

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I liked that the Giants stood where they were and
took neighbors.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
I liked him a lot.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
I think that in Brian's offense, and Brian day Ball
has always been very creative offensively. He was my offensive
coordinator in Cleveland. He was my quarterback coach of the Jets.
So I've been with him a long time and understanding
how he thinks he wants guys like Neighbors who has
that versatility. They can play inside, they can play outside,

(07:52):
they can hurt you on wide receiver screens, you can
hand them the ball.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
But it's not just that.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
He also has the ability to get open on traditional
runs and there's that element of run after the catch
where he can generate some plays. And the Giants they
need someone that can generate some plays.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
So I'm glad they didn't.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Go quarterback and muddy things up, and they've got a
weapon for Daniel Jones, who has shown that he's been
able to win in this system when he's been healthy.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
By the way, wide receiver is the biggest miss rate
in the last twenty years in the draft. What's your
theory on that? Because I like everybody said, oh, Chiefs
got Xavier Worthy and I'm like, not a polished route runner,
really fast, one hundred and sixty five pounds track guy,
a lot of drops. I mean, Mahomes and Andy Reid,
I'm sure they'll make it work, but I mean they've

(08:42):
I mean, if you go look at Ladarius, Tony didn't work,
sky Moore hasn't worked. They've got a lot of guys
that haven't worked. Why even Kansas City as well run
as they are in San Francisco, they've both missed on
a half a dozen wide receivers. Why is that such
a hard position?

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Well, there's a million of them, and I I wasn't
very good at evaluating wide receivers when I was a
head coach, and then I missed on on some, especially
in Cleveland, a couple of second rounders that I took
wide receivers on. And as you as you go through
that evaluation process, there's where the guy is as a
player in college, and you can get excited by some
of the wild plays and some of the explosive plays

(09:21):
and lose track of who they're against and and and
who's throwing in the football and how much growth they
have as a wide receiver. I think that's that's an
element of it, too, is how much growth they have
as they come into the NFL. Or is what you're
seeing on tape really the ceiling of who they're going

(09:41):
to be. And it's it's hard to evaluate, but you
see a lot of late round guys, and you see
small school guys or programs.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
That aren't is developed.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
They really hit it big in the NFL because when
they get into a sophisticated system, when they get into
sophisticated training, they pop. Where some of these guys were
a top program. They've leveled out and you see what
you get and and it's it's just not good enough
in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Great stuff. Eric Mangini coming in hot, Uh, loved it.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Coaches, Oh, it's great, great scene you too.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern, non a em Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
All right, let's do it. Jmack with the.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
News, Turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
This is the Herd Line News.

Speaker 6 (10:31):
First up, the Arizona Cardinals decided to keep their pick
at four.

Speaker 5 (10:35):
They went with Marvin Harrison junior.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
Steve Kim highlighted the defensive player they got and nice
first round. Listen, when you get two first round picks,
everybody loves your draft. Kyler Murray gets an elite receiver
in Harrison, and he reacted on social media saying, let's rock.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Colin.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
DeAndre Hopkins and Kyler had a nice little run. Expectations
for Marvin Harrison Junior, and Kyler.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
I think he's going to be I don't think there's
going to be. Kyler throws an accurate football and there's
nothing about him that worries me. He's just terrific.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Probably too hot of a take for right now, but
just file it away. Last year, everybody whiffed on Tampa Bay.
Nobody saw them coming. Is there a world where the
Cardinals are nine and eight, ten and seven, pushing for
a wild card spot with a bunch of draft picks,
healthy Kyler, Murray, high impact guy in Marvin Harrison.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Last year, remember they were competitive before the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
They were a little bit like the Raiders. You felt
they were overachieving right, excellent effort in games.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
They had a new coach and a lot of newness
last year.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
I think they're going to be really improved. And I
mean I'm dead serious here, I don't know what Seattle's
going to do at quarterback. Arizona's got a playmaker. I mean,
if you start looking at that draft last night, those
good players.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
They got a lot of picks. I just wonder, like,
what's the order in that division?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
What just father forty nine ers?

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Aways? First ram, second, about then.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
I think the Rams okay, fine Rams, Niners, so Arizona third,
and I think Arizona pushes the Niners for second. I
think Arizona's gonna get eleven players in the draft, six
really good players, six high end starters. This is a
very good draft early and they've got a lot of
picks early. It's a very good draft. And I thought
they played really hard last year. And I you know,

(12:22):
I like Kyler. So now they've got a star receiver,
a tight end. We both like, a star back, a
star quarterback. They're going to address offensive line, my guests
and corner. I think and edge rusher got piece comes
down to Kyler Murray, it does. I like their I
think they got some players.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Well, if you see him this summer in Vegas, next
time you go, you know, just you know, last.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Time I saw him, he was very friendly. He would
have been friendlier if my cohort didn't I was not there,
he probably wouldn't have come over. But he was very
very I.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Came over to you, Wow, dude, that's big time man.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
We were the UFC fight in the media room and
I walked over and he's like, yeo, he walked No,
I mean, we just kind of were in the same space.
My wife was, It's.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
Like, it's a cool feeling when, like, you know, ladies
come across the room to talk to you, or like
the athlete.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
That doesn't happen. But Max Crosby, Christian McCaffrey, Kyler Murray did. Yeah,
ky I like Kyler, and he was in a great mood.
He was laughing. He likes UFC stuff. Like he showed
up for the whole car. He didn't show up late,
he was there early.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
Interesting. Okay, all right, let's move on to the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
They drafted Toledo quarterback Quinyan Mitchell with the twenty second
pick last night. Here's the Dallas Cowboys angle. Michael Parsons
went off. He was not happy Philly landon one of
his favorite players in the draft.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Here's what he had to say.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
I'm honestly, utterly disgusted on how lucky the Eagles are.
It's just like christ I do not know how he
fell that far with this run though. Offensive tackles and quarterbacks,
that's the only thing that makes sense. I thought he
was a top fifteen, top twelve talent.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
And he just fell right into he was your favorite player.

Speaker 7 (14:05):
He was definitely one of my more favorite players in
his draft. Like I said, he rose in every bar,
he hit every like every he checked every box.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
We're in a new era, colin this Quenyan Mitchell kids nice, Okay,
no way. So he plays at Toledo, Nobody cares. It's
like Sauce Gardner plays at Cincinnati. A second, second level stuff.
This kid played the Notre Dame game. So the best
team he played Notre Dame. This is like Khalil Mack
when he was at Buffalo and plays with buck Eyes
and like lit up the buck Eyes. This kid played
Notre Dame. Go look at his stat line. The monster.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
So but so, okay, great, Quinnya Mintchell's gonna be nice.
We're in an era now where current stars in the
league are chiming in on draft picks as they happen.
That has never before happened in draft history. I'm just curious, Like, okay,
so Michael Parsons disgusted the Eagles got Quinya Mitchell. If
you're a defensive back with Michael Partson's a practice and

(15:01):
you're like, what what you wanted us to get him?
Do you?

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Am?

Speaker 5 (15:04):
I not good enough?

Speaker 6 (15:04):
Do you think Remember, we've got some sensitive athletes these days.
Do you think this opens.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
A can of worms? Like oh man? C. J. Strout said,
I love that guy.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
I wish we had gotten Persall you know, is there
potential of rubbing other teammates the wrong way when a
star's out chiming in on guys like this.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Well, I think everybody understands the first round of the
NFL Draft it's a candy store. I mean I think
everybody these are great players, Fans are players, are fans
of players, and I don't think anybody is slighted when
you're like, oh my god, we got this player. Listen.
The one position that hurts people's feelings. This quarterback Jordan

(15:41):
Love pick hurt Aaron's feelings, the Michael Pennox pick, it
hurts Kirk cousins feeling. The Jimmy Garoppolo second round hurt
Tom's feelings. So the quarterback position's always been a little
bit because there's like one quarterback takes the snaps by
and large. Though if you're any other position, if you're
a when they draft their receivers like Bro, that means

(16:02):
they want you to hit. So I don't get double cover.
Everybody wants another good corner. Everybody wants another good I
mean Max Crossby, the Raiders would love if they went
and got another Edge rusher.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
I just part of me thought like, I don't hear
Colin Cowherd out in the media say, oh man, that
kid over there is super talented. We could oh man,
he's so good. I would feel like, hey, what about me?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Jordan Schultz has got a lot I hear good things.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
Final story, We're headed in a week five of the
UFL season, Birmingham Stallions only undefeated team at four to
Zho tomorrow on Fox. The Stallions look to keep things
rolling against the one in three Roughnecks. They just got
their first dub last week. Stallions basically dominating the league.
Lead the UFL in total yards, passing yards, rushing yards
second and scoring offense. It's it's basically a football weekend.

(16:50):
You get the draft and then you get some football
action later on.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Also tonight, do the Boston Celtics go to Miami.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
It's crazily up. I haven't. I don't think they do.
They do that tomorrow tonight. I actually like all.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
The home teams, Clippers Maps, I would take Dallas at
home tonight yep, and so the Kevin Durant moment.

Speaker 6 (17:16):
So this is a two TV night and then Saturdays
maybe like a three TV day with UFL Draft, NBA.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (17:22):
Golf's happening, Tennis. Maybe there's a good I'm playing in
a soccer tournament Saturday. I can live stream it for
you if you're interested.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Okay, I think this old pad. Maybe next time. J
Mack with the news.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Herd Line News all right, tomorrows headlines today on the
draft coming up next.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays

Speaker 8 (17:52):

talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be
sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen
to Up on Game with me lebar Arrington, TJ. Hutschman

(18:23):
Zada and Plexico Birds on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts
or wherever you get your podcast from.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
Tomorrow on Fox, It's an NL Showdown as Paul Goldschmidt
leads the Cardinals against Pete Alonzo and the Mets for
the Reds battle Fory Seeger and the Rangers tomorrow at
four eastern one Pacific on Fox. Check local listings for
the game in your area.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Just reading a text from an NFL coach, he said,
you know, nobody's taken care of Kirk Cousins more than
Kirk Cousins financial. What's wrong with the team saying we're
gonna take care of us?

Speaker 5 (19:05):
I mean the guy said, like a month ago, I
want to retire a Falcon.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
And Atlanta can say we want you to retire a
Falcon backup, but I mean Kirk has taken care of
Kirk as well.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
He should.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
You got to look out for number one.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
So should the owner, Arthur Blank and the franchise. Number
one we're taking care of and that's the quarterback position.
The player can take out care of himself. The franchise
should take care of itself. I mean You can say
what you want about this. Right now, Atlanta has the
best quarterback in their division. He's older, off of surgery

(19:45):
and absolutely the most talented backup in the division. Michael Pennix,
have you seen a division back. He's arguably the second
best quarterback. He may be the best quarterback in that division.
Four teams, okay, four teams wanted him in the first ten.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
Allegedly, people say stuff after the fact all the time.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
One took him and another one. I know it's true.

Speaker 6 (20:09):
If he's the best backup, why was he the fourth
quarterback off the board.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Come come on, let's settle down on him.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Because it's the richest quarterback draft in a long time.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
If you want to say he's got a lot of talent, fine,
but he's got a lot of talent.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Four teams were interested moving up. None for ja.

Speaker 6 (20:26):
The Raiders, like dumb teams that do dumb things, wanted
to move up and.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
Drafted Thehawks are that great?

Speaker 8 (20:32):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
They haven't figured out their quarterback since Russell.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Wilson made the playoffs two years ago. They got Rider Wilson.
That they did probably all in that Russell Wilson trade.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I mean all right, fine, they did, okay, and the
Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
All those teams had a chance to draft J. J.
McCarthy in the top ten. None did.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
Was we stuffed that out? We knew that that was
all smoked.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Four teams were interested in Penis. Is it possible we've
seen this before that the fourth best quarterback Penis maybe
the second best quarterback in the draft to kalb Josh.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Allen was like the third quarterback picked and ended.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Up being the barrow was fifth. I mean, folks, that
keeps happening. It's not a shock if Caleb was the
best quarterback in Pennix was the second best quarterback. Whoever's
quarterback in Atlanta? With those weapons and that old line
and those running backs, is gonna be good?

Speaker 5 (21:15):
Oh really, Desimon Ritter, Hello.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Well he's not a franchise quarterback, all right? He does
that every Friday, predicts the future in headlines tomorrows, headlines today.
What's the headline for the Bears this season?

Speaker 5 (21:30):
So you know, the saying is you can never win
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
In the free agency and the draft, you can't even
really like secure a wildcard spot. I'm gonna go ahead
and disagree the headline will be stop, calaborate and listen.
Bears are going back to compete in the division. Low
wrapping here on a Friday. I've listen, Colin, I'm not
kidding when I look at the schedule.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
Are you ready for this? You know we're starting to
dive into the schedule. The orders not out yet.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
They're gonna face six quarterbacks who are first or second
year quarterback. Okay, this is a Bears defense that started
to improve toward the end of the season. They got
a number one quarnerback, a good edg rusher, But it's
the offense to get really excited about. Honestly, last year
it's basically DJ Moore and a bunch of guys. Now,
Colin Keenan Allen was a number one with the Chargers

(22:16):
like two years ago. He's now a slot receiver. You
got Roam on the outside, DJ Moore running game solid.
I'm just saying I would not be shocked if Vegas
bumped up their wind total eight and a half nine ish.
This could be a nine to ten win team. Colin,
I don't think that's out of the rouman. I have
them in the playoffs. As you like to say, what
half the league turns over when it comes to playoffs

(22:36):
a year to year.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
I think the Bears are a playoff team. Now, who
do I kick out? We'll get to another day. But
I have Chicago as a wildcard team right now.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Yeah? No, I don't think that's a hot take. Tomorrow's
headlines today they got Drake Mayott three? What say you
on the Patriots?

Speaker 6 (22:53):
You know I'm conditioned dislike Boston teams being a New
York guy. However, the headline the make it a double
double with Mayo, Pats give up on Big Mac? Like
that they put Mac Jones in the trash can listen?
I I don't love it and out, but I like
Drake bay I really like you. They won four games

(23:13):
last year. Can they double that wind total?

Speaker 1 (23:16):
No? No?

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Can can they get seven?

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Maybe?

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Okay, here's just a lot of wins in the A.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
I don't like to do this.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Aaron Rodgers to Josh Allen, come on, he's a kid.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
Well, I don't know, dude, who has the who has
the worst quarterback of the division. I don't know that
it's Drake may What about the.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Guy coming off the Achilles, Well, we don't know.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
Some of his nonsense gonna play in the locker room. Anyways,
back to the Patriots. So the thing I like about
May is he's about to get a receiver.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Colin. All the chatter and again it could just be chatter,
is that the Patriots right now and the Buffalo Bills
are looking to get a Yuke.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
That's what it sounds like, a Uk or maybe Debo.

Speaker 6 (23:54):
Keep an eye on what the Patriots do, because you
get a receiver and all of a sudden, it's a
big upgrade. Now, I'll say this Christian Gonzales, remember they
got him last year. The quarnerback believe for moregon which
playing awesome like lockdown stuff early in season gets hurt
out for the year. The defense has some pieces. They
will remain competitive. They're gonna win some low scoring, ugly games.
This could be a six or seven win.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Team, this one. I'm looking for tomorrow's headlines today Atlanta
the A T. L. Kirk Cousins and Michael Pennix Junior.
A lot to like here.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
You sure about that?

Speaker 6 (24:27):
I am kirk Cousins might have spent the night of
Magic City, he said, the depressed. The headline will be
righty tidy, lefty Lucy Falcon's got a screw loose.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
I am so stunned by.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
Honestly, this remains one of the most perplexing moves ever
from Kirk Cousins looking over his shoulder, knowing that in
two years they're dumping me, knowing that Michael Pennis turns
twenty four next month, So what they're gonna wait to
make him a starter at twenty six in two years?
Just so many questions to ask Colin. They could have
gone out and got Roma, Dounaze. He got Rome and

(25:00):
Drake London.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Opposite Rondell Moore and they've got three receivers around the league.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
Is he's not good, can't stay healthy, can't run routes,
disappointing stuff.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Steve khm could have educated us on that.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
But I just I don't get this putting pressure on
Cousins that Hey man, you know, the most popular guy
in town is the backup quarterback. When Cousins has that
four interception clunker on Monday Night football, because he will,
he will? Can we get Penis in there? All the columnists,
the fans, the social media, let's get into the.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Back think is is that that is a first world problem.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
Not when you just spent one hundred million dollars a
month ago on a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Kirk Cousins has monetized himself better than any quarterback with
limited skills in my life. Take a seat, pal, next
kids up.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
That's the league.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Okay, If that's the league, why signed kirk Cousins a
month ago?

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Because you didn't know if Penis would be available at eight? Well,
you didn't know.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
You don't know.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
What's a bit. You could have also had him as
your second quarterback. Here's my thing. Atlanta very well could
have had pens Steve Kaim said this as their number
two quarterback. He throws the best ball in the draft.
He throws the best deep ball. They've got, Rondell Moore,
Drake London, Kyle Pitts, They've done. It's an indoor facility.
Weather's never an issue. So, I mean, we just don't know.

(26:14):
Clearly McCarthy wasn't viewed, JJ liked, everybody was selling. Clearly
Penis had a much higher evaluation from the league than
everybody said.

Speaker 6 (26:22):
We talked about this. I mean, we watched college football.
You've seen Pennix live in the buildings.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
He's amazing.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
There was no reason for him to drop I like
Pennix and I'm rooting for I just think the situation
he's in with having to wait for Kirk Cousins is
not a favorable when Colin, especially when you got quarterbacks
raft that ahead of him, who are going to start
from day one. It just feels wrong for Pennis. I'm
rooting for him.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
I just feel bad tomorrow's headlines today, Vikings get JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
It's weird.

Speaker 6 (26:51):
JJ McCarthy was the bell of the ball all for
like the last three weeks, and now he's Viking's not
a lot of juice. The headline will be kick to
the curb Vikings concrete on JJ.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
I like the Vikings this year. I think, listen, it's
enough division.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
I think they're finishing third or fourth. That's a visions good.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Well, somebody's gonna fall out? Is it gonna be the Lions?

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Jared questions, I'm not selling any of my Lions and
Packer stock. I love those teams.

Speaker 6 (27:16):
I'm dumping my Packer stock the way I dump my
Tesla stock at a bad time. I think there's a
Vikings playoff team, Colin, how are they not? The offense
is going to be very good.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
We trust donald proclivity to turn the ball over in
kes t A. I'm sorry who Sam Donald?

Speaker 5 (27:34):
Do you think he's starting week one?

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yes? Absolutely? I don't think JJ's are a fine product here.
I don't. I think Sam Donald starts to.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
I need to scrap this head like I only like
them with McCarthy starting.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
You think Donald's gonna win the job?

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (27:50):
Oh my, that's no.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Minnesota Beat reporters may have intel. I don't, but I do.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
I think Thanksgivings the day Sam will have some clunk
he does, He'll get into some shootouts, he'll throw he
he is prone to make poor decisions, and then they'll
bring him in.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
I'm a sink or swim guy. Toss him in there.

Speaker 6 (28:11):
Let's see what you got, just like how you threw
me out here. You're like Mac, you ready go go,
And I'm like you.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Had a couple of three pick games early lucky patient,
a couple Moros headlines today. Finally I'm interested here Broncos
Sean Payton, Bonnicks.

Speaker 5 (28:27):
Bonicks sat here, so I'm not going to be smirch.

Speaker 8 (28:29):
His name.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
It's a nice guy, very well spoken. I like it.

Speaker 6 (28:32):
The headline will be Nicks sense Barncos reappear after coasting
Russ started making about Russ. But listen, I like the Bonnicks.
Pick I don't think they're a playoff team this year.
Who is it Mangini who said that the war room
was kind of like Midish as the kids say after
the draft.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Pick.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
I like bo Nicks. I think he's going to be fine.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
They've got receivers. I just this this whole, like, oh,
he could be our Patrick Mahomes, which is what one
reporters saying that Peyton believes about bon Nicks.

Speaker 5 (29:04):
I like him, but I don't love him Colin. I
think this is probably a third place team in the division.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
I do think they may go out and draft Franklin.
I think they may go get his receiver at Oregon
to make him comfort. That's a thought because I have
mems in Courtland Sutton. We liked their back o line
was good. I wouldn't be surprised if Denver did not
target Franklin the receiver.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
Okay, let me ask you. Does Bonnicks beat out Zach Wilson. Yes,
so bon Nix beats out Zach Wilson. But you're telling
me Jj McCarthy can't beat out Sam Donald.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Sam Donald's better than Zack Wilson marginally, well it's better inches,
maybe not feet, but set. Yeah, listen, you know what's
great about the draft. I cannot wait to watch the
Broncos play. I want to see how it works. I
want to see Atlanta play. I mean, I can't wait
to watch Chicago the Commanders. That that's the great thing.

(29:58):
Like in the NBA draft, you know those those players
are nineteen and they go to horrible teams like Caleb
Williams and the Bears. He can make them a playoff team.
They're ready to win now. I mean, Michael Pennix plays
well early, watch out Bownecks, Jaden Daniels. I can't. I mean,
it's just such a gift the NFL. Like I'm sitting
there last night thinking, I am more into this than

(30:21):
any single NBA playoff game I've watched so far, and
I like the NBA.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
Seven game series versus NFL.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I mean, I was just I'll be into it tonight,
so into it.

Speaker 6 (30:32):
I'm curious, Monday, are you going to hit the ground
running with seven playoff teams in the NFC.

Speaker 5 (30:36):
And AFC.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
That that that may be Tuesday, okay, but I do
think I do what I do in my picks. Do
I wait for all the coaches to get hired and
free agency, then I make my picks. Then I wait
for the draft, because I do think like Arizona's going
to be an absolutely better team with eleven new players.
The draft matter, free agency can matter if you're really

(31:00):
you know you land a quarterback. Atlanta goes from man
from Desmond Ridder to Kirk Cousins. That's a four game swing.
But I do think. I think next week I will
have my seven playoff teams we've been pretty good on.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
I'm also curious somebody's got to fall off.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
All we keep talking about is every team improving somebody
like remember the Giants made the playoffs, won a game,
and then tumble down.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
Somebody's from that playoffs.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
You know, we haven't mentioned them. The Colts got the
best edge rusher.

Speaker 5 (31:26):
Division. Y.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah, that was a I mean that's a really good pick.
The Forrest Bruckner and now the best edge rusher in
the draft. That's a better front. So all of a sudden,
the Colts now, I'm like they've been looking for that
edge guy for a few years. Yeah, so it's like, oh,
they got him. They need to tight end. I wouldn't
be surprised that the Colts don't go after the Texas
tight end here. So Cults are an interesting team. Hey,

(31:49):
Richardson was fun. We saw was fun. We'll see him Monday.
