You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
It's our number two on a Thursday. Patriots Jets tonight.
That feels like batting practice. We'll see how that works out.
By the way, I'm reading another story this morning, Aaron

(00:47):
Rodgers under fire for Steelers downfall.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Why are you blaming Aaron?

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Pittsburgh's offense has been unwatchable for like seven years. He
just stepped into their quicksand yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
But he's a Hall of Famer Colin. He's supposed to
solve the problems. I've seen this movie before. It was
with the Jets, and that's what we wanted Rogers to do,
bail us out, and he couldn't do it, and that's
why they got off of So he's now your problem Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Through nine games, he is tied. He has the most
Steeler touchdown passes since Big Ben's last season through nine games.
That tells you not about Aaron Rodgers. That tells you
about the dysfunction of Pittsburgh. And Mike Tomlin does not
seem to think it's a pressing issue. Here was Mike
Tomlin this week talking about the clunker last week.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
I'm not gonna, you know, chalk it up to an
off night, But there are no long term concerns. I'm
just not going to allow your words to be my words.
That's all. Sunday night was what it was. But I
have no long term reservations about his ability to play
the position and play the position at a high level
for us.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, I just think in a Wi Fi world, they
feel like a dial up. In a digital world, they
feel analog. Remember years and years ago, Apple discontinued seventy
percent of its line because it wanted to concentrate like
on the iPad and the iPhone, And they just discontinued
seventy percent of their projects, prospects, products, whatever. I feel

(02:22):
like that's Pittsburgh. They should just get rid of about
seventy percent of their defensive contracts and pivot to digital
and their version of the iPhone. Like, I just think
they've got expensive contracts, they're old on defense. I think
they just have to make a complete cultural pivot to offense.

(02:43):
Miami Dolphins did this a few years ago from Brian
Flores to Mike McDaniel, and it worked for about a
year and a half two years. But I don't think
it's an Aaron Rodgers issue. I really don't. I think
their offense is quick sand and he stepped in it
and he's getting pulled down.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
That's how I see it.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
And with that, Greg Coself forty six years NFL Films
is joining us. Well, you know what, when you have
the Chicago Bears history, you can't worry about what it
looks like. If you're winning, you just gotta be really
you gotta be really happy about it. So I thought
last week I thought it was you saw some stuff

(03:22):
with Caleb. Now, I've always defended him. He doesn't throw picks,
and he's really durable. And we're watching Jackson Dark get
hurt and Jane Daniels get hurt and Penix. Caleb doesn't
get hurt high school, college, pro, and he does not
throw picks. Now, he holds the ball too long, but
I'm going to guess that when you looked at the
film of this week, there were probably some things that

(03:43):
look like growth, because it felt like it on television.
I felt like I was seeing growth. Did the film
say that.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
Well, he's uneven every week to a certain extent, there's
always plays where I know that when Ben Johnson and
Caleb Williams get together the next day go over the
film that Ben Johnson's going to point out a lot
of things. But he makes three to five plays every
game that are truly wow plays.

Speaker 7 (04:10):
And he makes some incredible throws.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
You know.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Now, it's really funny in this game because that winning
touchdown that he ran for a touchdown, which I believe
we're looking at right now, was really a really poor
decision that ended up with a great result because the
ball should have been thrown to Cole comment that was
the design of the play and he was wide open,
And why Caleb didn't throw it, I can't answer that.

Speaker 7 (04:31):
But the point is the result turned out to be
a touchdown. But he made a.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
Throw earlier in the fourth quarter to Burden on the
outside that was a wow throw. He makes a couple
of those every game. We've seen the throws he makes
on the run. Boy does he throw the bow well
on the run. But then there's also a lot of
plays where it's just too random, where he just doesn't
really have a feel for the pocket versus the route concepts.
So he's very, very talented, which I think we all knew.

(05:00):
I don't think that's a, you know, a bold, controversial
statement that he's really talented.

Speaker 7 (05:04):
I'm not giving you a scoop, Colin.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
But I think he's uneven in every game. It's just
last week they came back and won in the fourth quarter,
and they were down what fourteen with five and a
half six minutes to go, So that had a very
dramatic feel to it.

Speaker 7 (05:18):
But every game he's a little uneven.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I want to talk about Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
I mean, even great teams have awful weeks. Some Buffalo
players said it was ninety degrees in Miami. It was
a lot. We don't practice in it, we don't plan
in it. I think I worry more about the offense.
I thought they should have made a move of the
trade deadline to get a perimeter. Guy, do you see

(05:42):
going ahead?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Are you worried about Buffalo's offense?

Speaker 6 (05:46):
I am, and for this reason, I've been worried about it.
For quite a while, and I've talked about it with
my guys, you know, at the office here. I think
that their past game in terms of concepts, combinations, is
very limited, and I think that what starts to happen
and you're dealing with a quarterback that, by his very
nature at times will leave throws on the field because

(06:10):
he moves so well and can make so many plays
off movement. So right now, he's not really trusting the
process the way quarterbacks need to. Now, maybe he's not
comfortable with the process, maybe he's not comfortable with his receivers.

Speaker 7 (06:23):
But everybody talks.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
About the fact cal on that they don't have a
big time number one, and that's true, but on a
certain level, there's a bit of a cop out element
to that, because when you don't have that guy, then
it's incumbent upon the offensive coordinator to create schematically ways
for the quarterback to have throws that are defined. You
can do that against man, you can do that against zone,

(06:46):
you can do that, and they don't really do much
of that at all. I mean, I see almost every
team in the league, so I see all these other
teams in what they do, and when you combine that
with the fact that Josh Allen at times is going
to leave the pocket prematurely and leaves some throws on
the field, you can have times where it just doesn't
look very good.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
All Right, Detroit is at Philly this weekend, and what
I really want to talk about isn't the struggling Philly offense.
It's about Jalen Phillips, right, I mean I thought, I
mean in that game where you had a mic at
a Jalen Phillips, I thought he was so instrumental.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Immediately tell me.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Your thoughts on Jalen Phillips and what he adds to
that defense because he just jumped through the TV.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
Yeah, well, it's funny.

Speaker 6 (07:32):
I went back and looked at my evaluation of him
coming out of the University of Miami in twenty twenty one,
and I thought he was the best defensive end coming
out in that draft. I thought he checked every single box.
I mean, he's six', five he's two sixty. Five he
can do. Everything AND i think in a Vic fango
defense because Vic fanjo predominantly wants to rush for he

(07:53):
does not want to blitz a.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
Lot that's not the way he wants to.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
Play, now every coordinator will blitz if they can't get
any pressure on the quarterback because you have to speed
up the quarterback one way or the. Other BUT i
think when you're dealing With Jalen, phillips you're dealing with
a guy now that gives them a true edge defensive.
End you can even bring him inside at times if
you choose, to and he is a dominant. Force and
you saw that in the game against The. Packers but you,

(08:18):
KNOW i think we just need to say one thing
about This philly.

Speaker 7 (08:20):
Offense i'm sure you watch the.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
GAME i watched it on, tape obviously in, detail AND
i was, very very surprised and kind of befuddled a
little bit BECAUSE i felt WHEN i finished watching the,
TAPE i felt like they played that game to minimize
the impact That Jalen hurts was going to have on the.
Game AND i thought there was one play that really
stood out to. Me it was late in the third

(08:43):
quarter in a scoreless, Game Colin it was third and
twelve on the plus twenty six yard line going in
and they handed the.

Speaker 7 (08:50):
Ball off To Will. Shipley they're giving.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
Up that's a give up play to get a field
goal in a scoreless game When Jalen hurts is your.
QUARTERBACK i just felt that that AND i don't know
the reason, why but they played that game to minimize
search his impact on the, game and that really surprised.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Me, yeah after the bye last, year you, remember they
started taking throws away From Jalen. Hurts nobody knows a
quarterback more than the team that drafted a, quarterback and
they're telling you what they.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
Think, YEAH i, mean that's it'll be interesting to see
because my guess Is sunday night against The, lions we're
not going to be looking at a ten to seven.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
Game that would be my.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Guess, yeah all, Right Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Rams one of the things that one of the things
that's fascinating about McVeigh is If DeVante adams is banged
up and he's supposed to, play he'll go to three tight.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Ends he's always done. That he reinvents.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Himself it feels like any, week what do you make
of what you've seen from The rams, offense which is so,
efficient no, Penalties stafford's AN.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Mvp what do you make of?

Speaker 4 (09:53):
It on?

Speaker 3 (09:53):
FILM i don't.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
Think enough is being talked about regarding what they've.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
DONE i, mean three weeks ago they went to three
tight ends really is the foundation of what they. Do
they've had forty percent basically or more three tight ends
in the last three. Games and keep in, mind in
the first five games of this, season they didn't have
one snap with three tight. Ends last year in twenty twenty,
four they had three snaps with three tight ends all.

(10:18):
Year so to dramatically make this kind of shift on
in the middle of a season is truly. Remarkable you
don't see that kind of dramatic change hardly ever in
The national football particularly in an. Offense and it's been
really effective in the last three. Games, okay just the
last three games where they've done, This stafford has thrown

(10:39):
eight touchdown passes when there have been three tight ends
on the field in the last three.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
Games that's truly.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Remarkable, yeah It's seattle's a. Handful both these rosters are.
Loaded do you think The rams match up With seattle's aggressive.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
Defense, yeah you're dealing with the two defenses that's on
the most of any team in the. League they don't
necessarily blitz a high, percentage but they're very aggressive with
their multiple stunt, concepts and they've got a lot of
defensive linemen up front who are very good at, that
whether they're penetrators where they're loopers and that's how they generate.

Speaker 7 (11:15):
Pressure and they're very.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
Aggressive AND i think an overlooked player is the rookie For,
Seattle nick E, minwari who's being used By mike McDonald
kind of the way he Used Kyle hamilton In baltimore
six three and a half six four two twenty Mn
warri can pretty much do. Anything they're using him as
a second level defender who basically can play the, slot
he can play in the, box he can be an overhang,

(11:36):
defender he can match up to tight.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Ends so's it's.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
Been a really interesting sort of transition now that edm
And warri is. Healthy but This seattle defense has been
really really good and they play nickel because of Edmn
wori more than any team in the.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
League, okay So denver Host Kansas city Is denver's, defense
which if they didn't have, it they wouldn't be winning these.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Games is it? Personel is it? Scheme what jumps off the?

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Tape it's both Because Vance joseph is very good with
his blitz, concepts but because of the personnel on their,
front they can do what we call gap you, out
meaning that they can create one on ones with their
defensive front and they can win one on. Ones not you,
know people think Of, benito they think Of cooper on the,

(12:23):
edge But Zach, Allen Franklin meyers, inside they can win
one on. One so very often they line up in
five or six man, fronts which dictates what we call
five to zero, protection meaning that the offensive line matches
up one on one because they have someone in front of.
Them it's five or, six you, know players on the first,

(12:44):
level so they gap you, out they make you block
them one on, one and they can win those one
on one.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
Matchups and again.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
For the second year in a, row they're leading THE
nfl in, sacks and this year they're leading by a,
wide wide.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Margin Does Kansas city match up With denver Is Kansas
city's offense match up man on man blocking?

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Them it'll be interesting because we Know Jowan taylor at
right tackle has struggled pretty much for the last number of.
Years he'll face Mostly Jonathan. COOPER i don't know If
Josh simmons is back this week or not playing left,
tackle but either, Way Nick benito is a. Handful so
at some point this might have to be one of

(13:23):
Those mahomes games where he moves around and makes, plays
which of course he's very capable of. Doing but they're very,
quick they're very. Strong The broncos with their front and
they'll call, it they pretty much caused problems for.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Everybody, okay so in the game In berlin that first,
HALF i thought The colts And Daniel jones. Dominated But
Daniel jones the last two weeks has started looking like
Old Daniel jones with ball security. Issues so, yeah he's
obviously the best he's ever. Been are you worried a

(13:55):
little bit on the fumble? Stuff what's the film?

Speaker 6 (13:57):
Say, yeah the fumbling is is something he has to clean.
Up the other Stuff i'm not really worried. About it's
the fumbling that you cannot. Do but you, know keep in,
mind And i'm not sure a lot of people are
aware of. This we think Of Jonathan taylor and he's
obviously a great, back but The colts have the most
first down pass attempts of any team in the. League

(14:18):
so this is not just let's hand the ball To Jonathan. Taylor,
now he has a lot of first down rushes as.
Well he might be at the top of.

Speaker 7 (14:25):
The league in.

Speaker 6 (14:25):
That but they throw the ball a lot on first,
down and that is absolutely the best down to. Throw
So i'm not worried About jones throwing the ball as a,
passer but the fumbles have to be cleaned. Up you
JUST i, Mean i'm not saying anything a coach wouldn't,
say but you just can't do.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
That but you, KNOW i think he's seeing the field.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Well even in The pittsburgh game two weeks ago where they,
lost he made some big time. Throws and you, know
WHEN i talk about seeing the, field we can basically
go to the play from last, week BECAUSE i think
this is a really good example of how they sort
of match up and how he make. Throws so let's
go to the touchdown he threw To pierce from last
week's game, overseas and we can see.

Speaker 7 (15:06):
Exactly What i'm talking.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
About so this is the touchdown he threw To, piers
which WAS i believe they're second.

Speaker 7 (15:10):
Touchdown of the.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
Game and it's a really interesting play because it's almost
the kind of play that makes you think they knew
what they were going to. Get, defensively here you See
jones he's basically in an empty. Formation there's no one
in the backfield with, him and what you're going to
get here is three receivers to the wide side of the. Field,
now notice they're kind of in a. Bunch, look, Okay

(15:32):
warren is the point man in the bunch And pierce is,
outside and they're tight to the. Formation they're, reduced so
they get what we call cover four. Quarters, okay AND i,
SAID i think they almost anticipated, This and you can
see what quarters is is you get the corner responsible
for his deep quarter and the safety responsible on that
side of the field for his. Quarter so what they're

(15:53):
going to do is they're going to attack that and
they're going to Take, warren WHO i said is the point,
man and he's going to run verse before he bends,
inside so that safety has to match him because what
quarters essentially is is man to man with. Rules and
Then pierce is going to run the deep post and
you're going to get the corner now matching. Him but

(16:14):
because of the reduced, split the corner is playing with
with and depth and that's really important in quarters because
that's going to impact why this. Works so what you're
going to see here is the safety has eyes On
warren as he has to because that becomes his man
responsibility on a vertical, stem and you see he's going
to bend, it but he's releasing vertically right at the.

(16:36):
Safety then you're going to get the. Corner now he's On,
pierce but he's outside of, him and he's playing with
with and, depth AS i, said because of the reduced.
Split so now what you're going to get is you're
going to see that the safety once he realizes that
the ball is going to not go to war and
he's going to try to turn, in he's turned. Inside

(16:58):
so he's not really a factor on this, throw even
though it looks that.

Speaker 7 (17:02):
Way by the end of the, play he's not really a.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
Factor so what you're going to get now is you're
going to get and you see the body position.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
There of the.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
Safety he's not going to be a factor at, all
And jones knows that because this is really what we
call a Quarters beata route. Concept and then you're going
to Get pierce to the post with the corner playing
outside of, him and he's not going to be able
to play. This it's very hard to play the post
from an outside leverage, position So jones throws to absolutely

(17:31):
the right guy. Here pierce goes up and get it
and gets. IT a lot of people might look at
this and, think, oh he threw into double.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
Coverage he did not throw into double.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Coverage this is exactly what you want when you have quarters.
Coverage you want an outside post and the inside attacking the.

Speaker 7 (17:46):
Safety so this was really well.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Designed, again made me think they were anticipating the. Coverage
But jones column is still playing at a really high.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Level by the, way let me just throw this out.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
There we were talking about this, earlier is that we've
Watched donald And baker be reborn and take team friendly.
Deals i've been Watching Mac jones Without piersoll and WITHOUT
iu doesn't have his top two.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Guys And i'm not disputing how.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Valuable, Kittle christian, McCaffrey And shanahan, Are but what is
when you look At Mac. Jones my take IS i
think he's the Next donald And baker that you could
get a very team friendly. DEAL i think he tells
a good. BALL i don't think he's nearly as athletic
As donald. Does the film say he's AN nfl starter
because his numbers safe.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
In a specific, SYSTEM i, MEAN i think he's in
the perfect. System it has to be. CHOREOGRAPHED i don't
think he works for. Everybody you, know keep one thing in. Mind,
now granted they don't have a vertical dimension in their,
offense there's no question about. That but he's not necessarily
a vertical. Guy he's a timing and rhythm. PLAYER i
think if you sign, him AND i think he can

(18:55):
start in the League, colin BUT i think the system
it has to be a very good marriage between system and.
Quarterback he's nowhere near as talented As. Darnold he's not
as talented a passor As, baker so he has to
be the correct.

Speaker 7 (19:10):
Fit he will not work for. EVERYBODY.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
J mack loves hearing that he's A brock pretty.

Speaker 6 (19:15):
Guy party's more, Talented perty's more.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Talented oh look at THE J. Mack oh my perks,
Up Greg, COSELL i appreciate. It, okay so he Said,
Brock perty's more. TALENTED J, Mack but it should be
noted availability does. Matter so it'd be nice IF i
get you, know pretty would be.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Available but you, Know.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
I'm glad that WHEN i Say perty is more, talented you.
Scoff but MISTER Nfl films, says perty's more. Talent oh
wait a, minute, no, listen we know, This. Okay can
we Get Kyle shanahan on the show?

Speaker 8 (19:49):
Callin can we? Try can we talk To dave and
make that?

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Happen LIKE i Think shannan will tell, You Brock purtty
is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
League he's not going to tell you that on.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Air assessing, WISE i, mean Brock purdy is lights out his.

Speaker 8 (20:03):
Story how can you not love his?

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Story you're practically an underdog from the sticks in in
in The northwest and becoming a radio. Jugger NOT i,
mean that's brock purty. Story dead last pick in the.
DRAFT i Don't stories are not what wins.

Speaker 8 (20:18):
Game he was within seconds of winning A Super bowl
if his defense could get a.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Stop he Led mahomes in overtime in The Super. Bowl
the defense can't get a? Stop what do you want
from the?

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Guy, well so Was Rex. Grossman you know that a
lot of people get.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
The bears quarterack stop. IT a lot of people get
close to that. Ring Jimmy garoppolo was a play away
from that.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Ring No, no in, Overtime Brock purdy drove them down
the field for a field goal to take the lead
against The.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
LISTEN i think they're gonna Give oregon more of a
game than people. Think i'm just gonna put that on.
RECORD i think it depends On oregon's. Health oregon has
been beat, up all their skilled players beat. Up if
they are they've got a shot Because oregon's a big
playoffense AND usc is very susceptible to giving up the big,
play WHEREAS usc can be a big, playoffense But oregon

(22:56):
doesn't give up big. Plays so when you go on
the when you go on the rowd and you're susceptible
to big, Plays oregon usually lambs a few of those.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Punches that's what would worry.

Speaker 8 (23:07):
Me At Texas georgia. Pick by the, WAY i Like.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
GEORGIA i Like bama to Beat.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Oklahoma, YEAH i don't know why people Like oklahoma and no.

Speaker 8 (23:17):
ONE i Think alabama wins that, one AND i think
they cover as.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
WELL J mack with the, News.

Speaker 8 (23:23):
Turn on the. News this is The Herdline.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
News let's start things off With Baker mayfield And Josh.

Speaker 8 (23:30):
Allen did you know they are. Buddies this will be the.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Third time they've matched up since being selected in the
twenty eighteen. Draft they got a good relationship off the
field and have let the jokes.

Speaker 8 (23:40):
Fly ahead a head to head this.

Speaker 9 (23:42):
WEEKEND i have to walkie talking to him because he's
so damn, tall SO i can't really have a face
to face conversation with. Him but you, know In, buffalo it's,
cold it's. Rainy even though he's six.' ten his hands,
are small so he better wear.

Speaker 10 (23:56):
His gloves baker wears two, gloves golfing so he's that type.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
OF guy.

Speaker 8 (24:03):
I love.

Speaker 10 (24:03):
The guy, he's awesome, you know kind of how his
career has progressed in. The adversity he's fought through and playing,
some really really dang good football.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Right now by, The way i've never known anybody that
plays golf with.

Speaker 8 (24:18):
Two gloves i've never.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
HEARD that i did hear from my golfing buddies out
Here in La That. Josh allen, you know he bought
a place. Out here he joined a very famous. Golf
club i'm not a part, of IT but I Hear
josh allen's a really. Good, GOLFER now i, don't know
is this two gloves thing that's a that's a thing.
In golf do we have any staffers who, are.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Playing by, THE way i am playing the Day, after
thanksgiving Not in chicago in a cold. Weather, location, yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Whoa you're just, a.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Busybody huh they just told me some information about you.
This weekend you got some stuff, cooking there huh in
the In The. WINDY city.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
I do i.

Speaker 8 (24:57):
Like It that's i'm happy.

Speaker 7 (24:58):
For you.

Speaker 8 (24:59):
The guy, all right let's move on to the.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Next story and just because you know You, like chicago
we're going to Talk More ben johnson And.

Speaker 8 (25:05):
The Bears.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Caleb, WILLIAMS colin i know you're very excited about. His
development you keep leading the show, with him much to
the chagrin of. The, Audience However ben johnson is talking
About watching caleb.

Speaker 8 (25:18):
Evade defenders he's great with.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
His legs, I'm thinking i'm the best Coach. IN america
a play call?

Speaker 11 (25:25):
In, IT no i think that's That's the that's the
beauty behind what we have going right now, is uh,
you know as a, coaching staff we try to we
try to get that primary receiver open as much as,
we can and sometimes the defense doesn't cooperate. With you
and And so caleb knows that if if we can't
get one to two or if, you know he's feeling

(25:45):
the pressure that he's he can still make us right
and we can still have a. Good PLAY so i
think that's that's a cool thing about where we're at.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Right now think. About this if You're a. Bears Fan.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
Dan campbell just took over play calling duties with, his
offense and they're Going.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
To philadelphia not.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Great, For Detroit green bay is, lost Offensively and minnesota
doesn't really know a year from now who the quarterback
is a year, you said can You Say, CHICAGO Bears Nfc.
North champion that slow, your role.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
My, FRIEND however i will note you said thee their
quarterback a year. FROM now jj McCarthy dealing with a.
Hand bruise this is breaking. Right now limited a practice
took no throws during the. Open, PORTION okay i had
to look up their backup quarterback Now Because carson wentz.

Speaker 8 (26:34):
Is cooked it's a gentleman by the Name.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Of, max brosmer highly, touted rookie but he has a
rookie so that's. Not, great however let's go Back to caleb.
Real quick so you Obviously. Love caleb ONE thing i
noticed was he was on that final drive Against the
giants column he wasn't throwing.

Speaker 8 (26:50):
As much as he was Just like i'm gonna tuck.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
And run we know that's, not sustainable but we did
drill down on his numbers passing outside, the pocket and what.

Speaker 8 (26:59):
We found is not not. Particularly great when he's evading.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Pressure and running outside, the pocket it's completing forty three
percent of. His, passes colin that's, not great and it's
all dink. And dunk let me quickly get rid. Of
it look at the passer rating cut in half outside.
The pocket so, it's again he's a work. In progress
he's certainly. Not polished he's certainly Not. Brock purty there's some.

Speaker 8 (27:23):
Encouraging.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Signs mccollin does this concern you at All that caleb
on the run not?

Speaker 1 (27:28):
As, EFFECTIVE well i Think What greg cosell said is
EXACTLY what i see and what. You see while five
times a game you're like jaw. Dropping wow but. It's
uneven he's running when he. Should pass it's just not.
Quite Right but i've defended quarterbacks, for years Including bo

(27:48):
nix your first two to three years in, the league
that if you're, an athlete until you really FIGURE out,
nfl defenses use your feet to move The chains i've
set Up. WITH bownicks i Think bo nick should run
more when. HE struggles i said It with, Lamar, early
dude pick up.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
First downs you're.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Going to develop in the pocket. Over TIME so, i
again these guys have played nine. GAMES together i think.
IT'S fine i think when you have the ability to
pick up first downs running do IT because i don't
think any of, these Guys. Including mahomes mahomes admitted, year
three everything. Slowed down mahome's pretty. Sharp guy, Year three,

(28:27):
brady admits, year four. Year, five Okay now i've. Seen
everything so in, That Process jared goff doesn't have. That
advantage he had to just learn he needed. Great Protection
so i'm going to defend guys running to move, the
chains Be It, jackson Dart bow Nicks.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Or caleb so the problem is a bunch of those
guys keep. Getting Hurt jackson dart keeps, Getting, hurt okay.
And Quickly baker mayfield calm one of the CRAZIEST stats.
I saw so all the beginning of, the season he
was elusive in, the pocket scrambled remember Against, the texans.

Speaker 8 (28:58):
Killed me Against, the niners he had that.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Memorable run How's this colin the last, Three Games baker
mayfield has not, scrambled once has not.

Speaker 8 (29:07):
Run once is.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
It because he got injured in one of the games
and he's not talking.

Speaker 8 (29:11):
About it there's a reference to an.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
Oblique injury when you leave, the pocket you're susceptible to
getting drilled by linebackers and safeties because they're.

Speaker 8 (29:19):
HEAD hunting i would.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
Be Careful if caleb's running six seven times, A game
i think they're probably.

Speaker 8 (29:25):
Losing or he's. Getting hurt would, You, agree.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Well they're winning this, weekend again this is one of.
These Games the vikings are the favorite and.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
They're, desperate well there's. Seasons over if they lose, this
game they're not getting to.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
The PLAYOFFS and jj McCarthy now is. Not practicing HOW
do i not Like. The bears technically he's.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
At practice he's just not throwing with the, media there
which is.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Maybe, worse WELL if i Was at fox but, WASN'T
talking i wouldn't be hosting my show at. Some point
you've got to if you're. NOT practicing i. Don't know
it's like sometimes you need breaks in. A SEASON if
jj is, not practicing a young guy that needs, to
practice that's a break For. The.

Speaker 8 (30:06):
Bears yeah a, Final story let's Go To. Austin. Reeves.

Speaker 4 (30:11):
Unbelievable colin he is top seven IN the nba in
scoring and assists.

Speaker 8 (30:15):
This season. Just unbelievable he's a great.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Talent here he has last Night, against okay see look
at Him. Attacking, HARTENSTEIN yeah i should have got the foul.

Speaker 8 (30:23):
Call, there anyways, You know i'm Very.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
Pro reeves how, About this there are reports out there
That the lakers have turned down wait, for it twenty
offers in the last Year For, austin reeves and that
the report goes on To say polinka is only interested
In dealing reeves in a Package for Yannis.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Or, jokic Well it's.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Polinka's guy he's very Loyal To. AUSTIN reeves I mean
i did LAUGH when i first.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Heard, THAT well i, SAID before i would have if
when You when Dallas, traded luca if you'd have given
me A D austin reeves in a first, Round pick
lakers lose. That, deal, yeah yeah then it's a really.
Interesting deal austin's a. GOOD player i think he's. A
three i think He's Like. Derek white you can win

(31:11):
a championship if he's your three or. YOUR four i
don't think you're winning a Championship of austin's your one of.

Speaker 8 (31:16):
Your Two austin reeves is much Better Than.

Speaker 7 (31:18):
Derek.

Speaker 8 (31:18):
White please.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
First, Of All derek white's an elite defender and an
elite three.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Point shooter jared when.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
He's got a stacked Deck with Tatum and brown. In,
company now What Is derek white? Right, Player Well austin
reeves is the number two option On a lakers team
that was eight and three before the game.

Speaker 8 (31:37):
Last night, so like let's not you seem irrationally Down, On,
Reeves colin.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
I'M not i just think he's.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
A three i don't think he's a one or. A
Two that, minnesota series they picked, on him.

Speaker 8 (31:49):
They did he.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Not living you're not picking on one and, Two's.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Well anthony edwards picking on you. Is different for, The
record reeves was asked about this upcoming free you tell
me if this sounds like a. HOMETOWN discount i want
to Be.

Speaker 8 (32:03):
IN la i. Love it even though the extension was.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Turned down it doesn't Mean that i'm out here trying
to get a bleeping. GIGANTIC number i want to, BE
here i want.

Speaker 8 (32:12):
TO win i. Like It, SO reeves i think you
can get him.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
For not paying him, the max and then you can
get another, quasi star Not An anthony davis because they're not.
Doing that but you can find a number three next
Year once. Lebron's GONE and.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
I Think austin reeves obviously has value because you just
reported that twenty offers have come down. The table denver
is Never. Trading yokich milwaukee, is reticent reluctant To trade,
JANNIS thought i what have a? Year, ago yeah so
it's easy To say i'll only trade him for.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Those two you're not getting.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
Those, two so by, the WAY The Nba All star
game is now Like the world AGAINST. The Us austin
reeves is going to Be An all star this year
for sure because he's one of the what FIFTEEN best
us players IN. THE nba i would argue he's probably
one of the Six best american players in the IN.
The nba austin rees is again twenty eight and eight
so far. This season he had a band of off night. Last,

(33:06):
night whatever.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
One of the Sixth best american players IN.

Speaker 8 (33:09):
The nba do we want to?

Speaker 7 (33:11):
Do?

Speaker 1 (33:11):
THIS no. I, DON'T actually i don't want to waste
the audience's time.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
ON that i really don't want to.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Do It middle America Loves hillbilly kobe as they.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Call It.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Austin Reeves j mack With.

Speaker 2 (33:23):

Then It's Michigan Northwest Big noon saturday Only.

Speaker 8 (34:01):

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Thinks hummond cubs made, The, Playoffs bears i'm telling you,
Right now minnesota. IS struggling jj McCarthy's not. Practicing today
detroit offensive Coordinator Basically dan campbell stepped in and took
over the play. Calling duties. Not Good And green. Bay's
lost so It's the caleb. Ben thing it's a work.

(34:26):
In progress. It's Fascinating but i'll, Say this i've Defended
bow knicks on This and I'll. Defend caleb when you're a,
young quarterback if, you're winning it's kind OF all i,
care about as long.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
As you're not getting in the way.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Of Winning bow knicks has been great and fourth Quarters
And caleb williams has been really great and. Fourth quarters
that's and they're. Both durable you give. Me durability you're.
GREAT late i worry when you're great on script. And
stink remember the first couple Of weeks caleb was good,
on script wasn't, after that. Worries Me bo nix isn't

(35:01):
very good. On script. Caleb's fine they're actually later in
games when you got to. Make plays they use, their
athleticism have a sense. Of urgency they're. Both good Here's
co Sell on caleb what.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
He sees there's always PLAYS where i know That When
ben Johnson And caleb williams get together the next day
and go over the Film That ben johnson's going to
point out a lot.

Speaker 7 (35:23):
Of things but he makes.

Speaker 6 (35:26):
Three to five plays every game that are truly, wow
plays and he makes some.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Incredible, throws yeah the put UP the nfl schedule. This
week it's a very very good weekend. For GAMES and
i don't think you can. Underscore this Detroit's at philly
that could be. A Loss if Chicago, beats, minnesota boy
this gets really interesting Because that detroit Outdoors at philly

(35:56):
that feels like An L that philadelphia is one of
my favorite picks of.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
The weekend so keep.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
Your eye this is a big Moment For new york
and Sometimes, for chicago and sometimes you. Need breaks and
my feeling IS if jj McCarthy's not gonna play and
you don't really know what you're doing, at quarterback that
may be.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
The break the other thing we. Talked about jmack brought.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
This up it's a huge weekend For the chargers because
If the Chargers beat Jacksonville and Denver Topples kansas city,
At Home kansas city is not winning. That division that
means they're gonna have to go on, the road. No
arrowhead So the bears And the chargers are in really.
Good spots they control their destiny. This weekend, Any, game

(36:42):
jaymack that jumps out to you on.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
This board so this big numbers guy he comes on,
My Podcast, AARON shatz i don't know if you. Know
him If the chargers Beat, the jags they are ninety one.

Speaker 8 (36:53):
Percent making the playoffs based on.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Future schedule if, they lose it drops a fifty, eight
percent essentially a coin Flip. To jaguars if they lose,
this game only a nineteen percent chance at. The playoffs
so that opens the door for someone to sneak in
a wild. Card spot could It be pittsburgh when they
get passed By. The ravens there are some huge swing games.
THIS weekend i actually think if you Look at, MINNESOTA

(37:16):
schedule i don't know if we can call That. Up
colin this is must win for them or their season.
Is Over the viking schedule is just brutal down, the
stretch and you like, to say they don't even have,
A QUARTERBACK so i don't see a path to the playoffs.
FOR them i Think the bears obviously have a much,
better Shot but minnesota's schedule is just too difficult.

Speaker 8 (37:34):
To get in.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
The PLAYOFFS and i saw My Guy van grinkles. Not
practicing he's hurt all season and he is a game
changer off. The, edge yeah this is a real Moment
For harball herbert And, The Chargers caleb benn And.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
The bears this is a.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
Real moment and if you're going to be a, playoff
team these are the games you have.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
To win it's not a.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
Big ask can YOU beat jj McCarthy or can you
Beat the jags who really have no home. Field advantage
so the playoff, picture TODAY and i THINK the nfc
playoff picture is mostly what it's going to look like,
right now the playoff picture IN The, Nfc, Philadelphia, Seattle, Detroit, Tampa,
Rams Bears, Green Bay san francisco on the. Way out

(38:15):
THAT'S kind i think that kind of looks like If
the bears win, this weekend that kind of looks.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Like it's one of. The GOOD now afc.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Is Different It's, Colts Denver, New, England, Pittsburgh, Chargers. BUFFALO
jacksonville I think baltimore wins, Their division pittsburgh gets, bumped
out no wildcard from, that DIVISION and I Think kansas
city gets in if they win. This weekend, if not
all bets.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Are off so.

Speaker 8 (38:41):
Team To Watch.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
HOUSTON texans i know they've been garbage and they've killed
me at the. Gambling Window davis mills in line to
start this week There Against. Tennessee colin maybe they're the
team that Bypasses, the jags because again that defense is.
Pretty Nasty Stingley Will, anderson hunter. THEY'RE formidable i do
wonder if they could play Spoiler if mills can get

(39:02):
to win this weekend And then stroud comes back from,
the concussion perhaps with Your Guy, Woodie marks really he
looks sharp in THE backfield i don't know how closely
you're Watching, the texans but they are A dangerous maybe they.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
Sneak, IN Yeah i texans schedule. Is brutal you don't
want to go there With.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
The texans their Schedule is bills At the colts At.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
The chiefs.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Forget, it Well that chiefs. Game swing i'm on a.
ISLAND here i still don't Think the chiefs are a
lot for. The playoffs i'll kind of look like, a, fool,
which hey it happens to all.

Speaker 8 (39:35):
Of us, you know they. Sneak in, BUT yeah I
think i'm gonna Take. The broncos i'm taking.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
The Points, come yeah this is one of the best
weekends in. A While bears vikings means. A ton I
think Tampa. And buffalo buffalo has to win. THAT game
i think. They Will chargers jags a lot riding. On
It seattle rams game of, The year i'm going. Potential
upset keep your eye On The cleveland Browns Hosting. Baltimore

(40:05):
ravens Third. Straight roadie it's going to. Be called the
defense By the browns at home is not only the
best in, the league it's the best by a. Long
shot cleveland, at home go look At The cleveland browns.
Depth chart their defense has. Dudes everywhere They really they've
drafted pretty well on the. Defensive side they just got
to find. A Quarterback, Kansas city, Denver's Massive Detroit. Philly

(40:28):
massive there are like six huge swing games.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
This weekend hour, three next

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
