Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
And with that, we're lucky years ago Portnoy when he
was starting Barstool. They've emerged as a big college football network.
But the reason they became that is they went out
and hired Casey Smith, who hosts their show with Portnoy,
Big Cat and Brandon Walker and those guys are that
sounds like a mixer that you get in trouble with

(00:48):
that the big personalities. So you're A. You grew up
in Dallas, You're and then you will go to Texas
A and M. Like myself, we didn't have sports fans
in the family. You became this are for barstool and
we met a few weeks ago at the US Illinois game.
I don't buy Texas A and M. Not that I
don't buy, and they're obviously good. I like their coach.
I know, I feel like they keep beating teams that

(01:10):
have just fired their coach or they're going to I
love Bama this year, and it's a little confirmation bias
because I'm such a Kalin Debor fan. Sell me in
a minute on an M. They're athletic quarterback, they got
a lot of big dudes, they have an NIL Why
do I need to buy them?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Well, first of all, you talk about bias, I mean,
I'm wearing maroon and white kicks today, Colin.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
I knew what you were going to come with. No
and I.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
At the end of the day, the only teams they
can play are the teams that are on their schedule.
And I hear you about the coaches getting fired. A
and M's also getting those coaches fired. The way that
A and M is playing in all three phases of
the game, Marcel Reid in the pocket, just everything from
an ex's and O standpoint is there. The bigger thing
for me is that this team is playing for Mike
Elco differently than I've ever seen them play for a
coach in my entire life.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
He buys it in the culture.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Tommy Moffatt, the strength and strength and conditioning coordinator, came
from LSU He's got this team playing tough, and they
just don't look like the A and M eight and
four that we've made fun of for our whole life. Yes,
I mean, and I have to defend that every year,
and then every November I start getting scared.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
I'm like, Oh, is this going to happen again?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
This team is playing differently, and just when you look
at the talent across the board, you look at the money,
the nil and then you get a guy like Mike
Elko and his staff in there, like, this team is
for real.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
And I understand where you're coming from. Alabama.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
They're not the same team that lost to Port of State,
but they still lost to Porida State and then plays
Notre Dame gets that non conference win, so you have
to believe in them.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
They're nine to zero in the middle of November.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I'm a huge Bama fan. I don't think Ty Simpson's
quite as people project. I think he's a good kid.
He sat for three years, was a backup, didn't do much.
The world's changed. Nil Texas has the most money Texas
and Hen has the second most money in the conference.
That's the reality is that a lot of these sec
schools are in small towns where a car dealers like

(02:49):
the rich guy. Well at Ohio State or Michigan it's
venture capital guys, or Notre Dame. It's a different ballgame.
So Obama is not what they were with saving It's
not Caitlin de Bor's fault. I think they're underserved because
of that loss to Florida State, and everybody just labeled
them because they got dogged, they got.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Dragged, everyone said they were dead.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
I think in the last month your thoughts on Bama.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
So I agree with you that Ty Simpson he has
looked unbelievable. And when you look, they do look a
little bit one dimensional because Alabama.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
They don't run it.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
And you look at the successful Alabama teams. You had
guys that could always run the ball. And you look
at all of their rushing stats right now, it's all
at the bottom of the sec. That's just not the
way Alabama wins games. And I do think under coach
Saban they had a little bit more of a toughness.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I agree with you that it's not pushed.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
To Bor's fault, but there's something about these Alabama teams
under Kaylin de Board that just don't look like they
are as tough and as physical at got pushed around,
and that never happens with Nick Saban, and that to
me is a little bit alarming.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Now when you look at what.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Ty Simpson in this offense has done, especially in the
passing attack, you have to believe in them, and you
know they're going to have guys on defense. But when
they're going up against teams with really good front sevens,
and you know that they're going to throw the ball,
what are they going to be able to do? Because
they can't run the ball right now?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So you never asked anybody. Their age are obviously very young,
and young people talk to young people. Young people don't
talk to people like me, So I want to bring
up they just not that young.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
And I'm talking to you right now, and.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
My producers ignore me at every request.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
So Lane Kiffin is kind of cool and he's got
an identity, and a smart coach told me recently, offensive
high school players will follow coaches. Defensive guys want to
go to the big schools. They're going to go to
your Texas's and your Ohio States and your Bamas. So
I think Nicks there's a pied piper feeling in college.
I think he'd be great in the pros. What are

(04:37):
the people that you know, they are young and players
and coaches. What do they tell you on Kiffin you
have a heartbeat of the SEC. Is he considering pro football?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I think you have to think he's considering all options
at this point.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
But I think that he connects so well.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
With these young players, and you see his connection with
Jackson Dart and he's cool and he's the best at
social media trolling and these guys love that. And you
know that anything that comes out of his mouth, whether
it's in the media or it's on social media, is
going to get clicks. And I think that really fits
in recruiting and for you know, you look at.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
All the jobs that are open, and.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
He's going to coach five teams next year. It seems
like he's just going to be coaching everywhere. But right now,
what he's building at Ole Miss, he's making Ole Miss
a destination that you know, ten fifteen years ago, these
kids wouldn't have necessarily wanted to go, and he seems
like he connects to that level. So it would be
dumb to sit and say he's not considering the NFL,
especially the Giants with Jackson Dart there. But I think
he's a college coach. I think he fits the culture,

(05:30):
and he's young and he's cool and he's happy there.
He's got young kids. If I was him, I would
stay in college.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
But you know, no, I think it's a really good point.
I think fit in life matters. And I think he's
just snarky enough that he would offend an owner or
a GM. Yeah, he's just inappropriate enough on social media,
like you guys are a lot that I work for a.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Company that's always in appropriate. That's what we do.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
So tomorrow you're at Wrigley, it's Michigan and it's Northwestern.
I think Underwood's unbelievable. I think he's Oh my god,
he's just an unbelievable talent. Think marsh is one of
the receivers. I like, what do you make? You know
Dave loves his Michigan. Do you think deep down in
his heart he thinks this hardball replacement's the guy, because

(06:18):
you know, you when you hire the guy on the staff,
it goes, So you know, I understand why you do it.
Players like him as loyalty as the brand. Where are
you with Michigan? What does Dave say privately about Michigan.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Well, Dave is as authentic as you can get.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
You know that you've been around him.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
He believes, truly that Michigan's going to be to Ohio
State this year, and he's going to believe it. Even
if he doesn't believe it, he's going to say it.
I think that one thing with this team, they're also young.
You know, you talk about just the way that they
had the turnover, and it wasn't just losing losing coach Harbaugh.
It was just a lot of guys leaving, and just
so the fact that they're still even in the mix,
they're still you know, in the the you know, the
lower level conversation of being able to get in the playoff.

(06:52):
They would have to be Ohio State on Thanksgiving obviously.
But I think that this is a great spot for
Michigan to be in. And I see where the nil
money and that's where Dave really loves to get involved,
right because you know, he's got the big money coming in.
But I mean, if you're a Michigan fan right now,
you shouldn't be thinking poorly of this team.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Their young kids and Bryce looks great.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, I know, He's a pretty phenomenal guy. So when
you grow up in Texas and now you live in
New York and you hang out in Chicago and all
this stuff, how do you view Everybody said the Pac
twelve going to the Big Ten, they won't be able
to handle the weather. My take was they'll bring all
the quarterbacks. Yeah, I mean even Tom Brady played at Michigan,

(07:29):
he's from California, Andrew Louck, Aaron Rodgers. The quality of
quarterback in the Big Ten now, Jayden Mayava, Dante More,
even that nico I Mahaliava's like he's got the skills.
So I think the West Coast teams have brought kind
of a smarter and more sophisticated quarterback driven offense. But

(07:50):
how does somebody like you that grows up in Texas
and Big Ten country? How do you view sc Do
you see him as soft? How do you view that
little sc Lincoln Riley things?

Speaker 3 (08:01):
So I love Lincoln Riley. I liked him when he
was at Oklahoma, so I thought it was a great hire.
And they actually used to make fun of me at barstool.
They were like, do you have like a crush on
him or something? Why are you always so high on him.
It's like he's an offensive mind that he just needs
to find somebody to help him with his defense, and
he's going to get this team right. I've always thought
with USC and UCLA and Oregon, it's like they're kind
of like the sexiest school, but they're not going to

(08:22):
be able to handle it in the SEC or the
big ten week in and week out. We're seeing that's
not necessarily true. We saw what Oregon did last year.
We saw what Dan Lanning is built. You're seeing, you know,
USC is very clearly in the hunt.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Year good at home. USC is good at home.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
And I just truly believe that, you know, you see
these different fits. I didn't like that the PAC twelve
fell apart because right before it fell apart, you had
a million quarterbacks in Thisslage.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Why the best Pac twelve season in the history of
the PAC twelve the last year they had seven good
teams and we're like having.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
A funeral for it. It was unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
And so to look at that, and I think the
bigger thing was not even necessarily the weather.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
It's the travel.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I mean, West Coast team's having you all the way
the East coast and back and forth, like it takes
away the regionality of college football.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Which I grew up two or three hours.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yes, of course, and like time, you know, as you
get older, and I mean, you know, I know you
said I'm young, I'm not that young. Time really does
matter when it comes to these guys are so used
to rigid schedules.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
So but I do like seeing the quarterback play. It's
the Big ten. Used to be it's like you're gonna
run the rock.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
You know, you're gonna have these great, big offensive linemen
and it's going to be you know, a nine to
six game. Now you're seeing guys like Dante More and
you're seeing just these teams have these offenses that come
from the Pac twelve and that's exciting. Now if they
played you know, a weekeet and week out every single year,
it'll start to even out for sure.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
The so you barstools interesting. So I don't really know.
I've met Big Cat and brand and you and Portan,
I have met him. It's a it's a wild a
lot of juice, a lot of energy, and you've really
you feel like part of the team. But it is
I mean when it first started it was like it
was a boys club, it was a frat, and it

(09:51):
was I.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Mean when I that's what it was.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
And then you walked in you or I remember seeing
you in Boston and then you moved to barstool?

Speaker 5 (09:57):
What was your first week at barstool?

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Like, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
It was so crazy because I was used to Network
TV doing three hours of Network TV, like you know,
every single night, and then I walk in and it
was like right before March madness and they're all gambling,
and like I was just like, what's going on. We
don't have production meetings, we don't have like I don't
have a B block.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
What are we talking about?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
But it was really cool because I grew up with
you know, a lot of guy friends loving college football,
and it was you know, you get to to watch
TV and you talk about the x's and o's and
you hear the ins and outs of what's going on,
and then you go hang out with your friends and
you're sitting down, for the lack of better terms, on
a barstool talking about these games. And that's what that's like.
And that's what what Dave is really built. Well, it's
what she would talk about your you know, your friends

(10:35):
with watching a game, but to be the only woman
there doing it.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Then we have other women in content. They are phenomenal.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
You were a big rock star for them.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Well, thank you, especially in sports, like you know, we've
had pop culture shakes in the office.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Was great, but uh, it's it's the different world. But
I love it.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
And I love that we've now partnered with you guys
because I.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Get both right to the large TV and then yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
A little bit of x's and o's and like we
have to be professional, and then we get to go
yell at each other and tell you that we're stupid.
So you know, it's a great It's a great mix.
But no, I love working there and Dave's as authentic
as they get.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
So I'm lucky.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Well, listen, this is a pain in the butt for
your schedule, so I appreciate you doing this.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Please, I'm honored and be here anytime you want.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Okay, Well, it's just got it tried pulling teeth getting
these guys to show up Monday through Friday.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
They're just throwing you guys under the bus.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
They deserve it. Casey Smith, congrats on your success. I'd
love to have you on again. I love to Bucky List.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Thanks Colling.

Jmack with the news. Turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
This is the herdline news.

Speaker 6 (12:25):
All right, let's go to that big Fox matchup Ram Seahawks.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
Should be a good one.

Speaker 6 (12:30):
Matt Stafford firmly in the MVP race pretty much against
Drake may A, couple other guys. I think Josh Allen's
still there, but we'll see this weekend. The Seahawks defense
is feisty, Colin. They're coming to so far looking to
make a statement. I know they've bottled up some bad quarterbacks.
Here's Mike McDonald talking about just how good Stafford and
the Rams offense has been.

Speaker 8 (12:51):
He's playing great football, decisive, They're put him in great situations,
diagnosing defense at a really high level, hailing the protections
at a high level. They're really explosive right now in
their past game, and then and then they're converting in
some of those and a lot of those conversion downs
to which keeps drives extended. So yeah, he's playing great football.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Yeah, two of the three or four best rosters in
the sport. You got two MVP quarterbacks. Home fields not
a thing at so far in this space. A lot
of Seahawks fans there.

Speaker 7 (13:23):
You sure Seahawks fans travel that well to to LA.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
I guess I'd want to get out of rainy Seattle
to come, oh to rainy Los Angeles.

Speaker 7 (13:31):
Got it?

Speaker 6 (13:31):
Yeah, these are gonna be fascinating. I don't know how
much three tight end stuff the Rams are gonna Do
you know Seattle will be ready for it.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
I mean they've used it.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
Three weeks in a row. I just worry about this.
You know, DeVante Adams, Pooka. I know Seattle has good corners,
but there's no cheating on the run game with those two.

Speaker 7 (13:48):
You can't cheat up in the box.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Last week you could do that, right, Hey, let's load
up on Trey McBride. They don't have much else and
they're swarming after Bresid.

Speaker 7 (13:57):
You go attack Stafford. He's one of the best quarterbacks
against the Blitz in the league. Cling. You really like
Seattle here, huh?

Speaker 5 (14:04):
I do special team's edge?

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (14:07):
The rams kicking situation has been mid is.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
I think it's I think it's a close game. Special
team's edge. Both teams run the ball. Seattle has not
been generating the sacks in the last couple of weeks
they did earlier.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Keep your eye on that.

Speaker 6 (14:21):
Who do you trust more two minutes with the ball
TI game, Matt Stafford or your boy Samba both?

Speaker 4 (14:29):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (14:29):
Stop it you.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
You are sitting on the fence so much today. This
is embarrassing. Pick a side man. Next up, Let's go
to a topic near and dear to your heart, and
that is brock Purdy. He's back calling. Kyle Shanahan talked
to the media yesterday said he's in. Brock Purdy then
spoke to the media. I wonder is he rushing back
because of mac Jones? Here he is brock Perty talking

(14:52):
about week eleven.

Speaker 9 (14:54):
I feel really good, feel healthy and excited to be
back and ready to go and leave you guys. So
I'm really shy about this week. It's been a good
week so far and kind a couple more days obviously,
I got to finish out strong this week, but feel
really good. For me, it's been how do I feel physically?
Has nothing to do with I need to get back
out there. For the political side of things, it's been

(15:16):
all about how do I feel really good to go
out and lead when I do get back.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
Interesting for him to reference the political side of things.

Speaker 7 (15:26):
What do you think that means?

Speaker 9 (15:29):
Well?

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Mac Jones played very well. I support that message.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
Is there is there a controversy here? Let's say brock
perty loss to Arizona. Is there a developing situation?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
So I come a topic on Monday.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
I don't think it leads Broncos beating the Chiefs quickly
did you see how about this from the staff Ricky Piersoll,
who has missed more time with this knee injury than
when he got shot last year. Okay, he's on track
to maybe return this week. We still don't know where
Brandon Ayuki is. It's funny when he wanted his contract,
he was all over social media.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Now he's hurt.

Speaker 6 (16:04):
I'm not hearing anything for Brendan and I don't know, man,
I'm feeling I don't.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Want to parasol. And was playing very well before he
got hurt. He was playing, he was playing really well.
I didn't love it as a pick late first rounds.
No man's land for GMS. He's played well, He's looked
really good.

Speaker 6 (16:18):
If you have looked at the Arizona injury report, it
is getting ugly. Johnson doesn't look like he's going to
go again. There looked like there was a lot of
quick last week in that team in Seattle when they
got jumped on early. I know they're going home. We'll see,
we'll see. I think the Niners are probably.

Speaker 7 (16:35):
The side here. You have you anything for you?

Speaker 5 (16:38):
No, they are to me.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
I do worry because when you get humiliated like that,
you usually come back the next week.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
But they're missing Connor. They're missing Harrison.

Speaker 7 (16:46):
Harrison, Yeah they need him.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Yeah, No, he's played better of.

Speaker 7 (16:49):
Lay miss practice yesterday. We'll see. They need him back.
He's their best ed rusher. All right, Final.

Speaker 6 (16:54):
Story, Colin, Let's go to Major League Baseball. They announced
the MVPs weirdly. I don't know why they take so long.
The season has been over for weeks.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Show.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Hey, Otani wins it in the NL and Aaron Judge
in the AL. No surprise at all otani fourth career
MVP in the fourth unanimous won in the last five years.
Judge goes back to back like Michael Jordan ninety six
ninety seven winning MVP awards and cal Raley.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
He was nearly won the MVP, but it was Aaron Judge.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah, he's Aaron Judge is a great player. Otani is
a unicorn historically he wait, wait, Judge is more than
a great player. I mean, come on, he's a Hall
of Fame lock. Okay, yeah, Otani though, yes, he is
not just a picture. He's an elite pitcher and an
elite based eater and an elite power hitter, and he

(17:47):
can hit for average Otani is just different and everybody else.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
He's built different, as the kids say.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
So, here's a fun fact on Aaron Judge, thirteenth player
in MLB history to win three MVPs, joining Yogi, Jolton,
Joe Demaggio and Mickey Mantle as the only.

Speaker 7 (18:04):
Yankees to do it. Boy and MLB loves its history.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Huh.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
I mean those are some big time names that Judge
just joined. Ok at that I got the highlights of
Aaron Judge. What a great player. Gotta say, nice, good guy,
Well though, I and a good guy had to balance out.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
Your hate towards the Yankees every postseason.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
But I would take the World Series titles. How many
Jeter's got? What four or five of those?

Speaker 5 (18:24):
I take?

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Those MVPs are great. I want titles obvious. Yes, those
are all tilting West coast now these days the best coast,
as they say.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
Yea. Some say that J Mack with the news.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
Herd Line news.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
Okay, J Max got his picks coming up.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
One more heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Oh, I want to thank Casey Smith and Barsols Sports
and Dave wonstat told great stories. Lucky to haveppen today
on a Friday, both in studio. By the way, how
about that look in studio? Yes, be nice. If Jmack
made it in studio appearance, I guess he's busy getting that.
You know that volleyball swollen on? All right, listen, Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so this is next

(19:17):
week is the last like pre Thanksgiving week, and this
is kind of the time where football feels different. Run
games takeover, weather gets a little choppy, so football gets
very interesting. We call it tomorrow's headlines. Today. J Mack's
got five big ones, Commanders and the Dolphins. Isn't that
one overseas or something?

Speaker 5 (19:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (19:38):
You know, I think I took the bait colin this season.
I've been doing a lot of early week betting and
it hasn't been profitable until lately because you start to
see what happened last week with the Dolphins, and you
see what happened with the Washington and this feels like
a slam dunk.

Speaker 7 (19:51):
The headline for.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
Commander's Dolphins from Madrid will be Tua top Us by
LOOA Madrid menu features bite size starters.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
Give me the Dolphins here my biggest bet of the week.
I'm ready to.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Get my top in. But Colin, one of the cool things.
You know, I talk about Chad Gpt sometimes. I'm telling
you you can learn quickly about the dan Quinn's schemes.
Historically he has struggled slowing down the Miami Dolphins and
McDaniels offenses. What he plays the single high safety and
the problem in Washington, Colin, they're very slow at linebacker

(20:23):
because as you've noted, they're an old team. What does
McDaniels do. McDaniels put stress on the edges with the
speed in the motion, and I'm telling you, like, this
is good. This is lining up for a big Devin
eighth Chan game. He's having quietly a monster season.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Speed.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Like if you try to match up Bobby Wagner with
him on these screen passes. I mean, Wagner's had a
great career, but he's.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
Like thirty five years old. And you saw Detroit.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Speed just mess up Washington last week. Also Payne, the
best defensive player Washington, has suspended for throwing that punch
in the Lions game, Colin, I see nothing here for
Washington that improves, and I alluded to it earlier. Both
these teams go on there by week after. If you're
Washington and you know the season's cooked, you got smashed
four games in a row. Do you basically have huge

(21:06):
plans in Europe this week and you just stay over there?
There's no reason to rush back. The Miami fans want
to come back to South Beach. I like the Dolphins
here big.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
All right, Tomorrow's headlines today another Florida team, the Buccaneers
and Baker go to Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
Yeah, it's interesting. Tampa was so good for first half
of the season. They've slowed down a lot. What is happening?
The headline for Bills Tampa Bay will be Captain Cooked
rby Waves Button voyage to Bucks defense. This is a
as you alluded to earlier, big running weekend.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
Horrible weather.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
They're calling thirty to forty mile an hour gusts of
wind plus rain and snow that leads to heavy James
Cook action. And again this is a Tampa defense. I
didn't see them slowing Trayvon Henderson last week, did you?
I mean Henderson had a monster game. Tampa really struggled
slowing down Drake may and the big plays. Who does
big plays better than Josh Allen Cook Now no, Dalton

(22:05):
first aid, that's his new nickname, Dalton Kinkaid. He's hurt again.
So I do worry if they have to throw, but
in this wind, I don't anticipate it. I think Josh
Allen runs a lot, and I think one of the
craziest stats I've seen this week, Colin Baker Mayfield last
three games has zero rushes for zero yards. That is
absolutely puzzling, given his legs have been a huge weapon

(22:26):
for Tampa earlier this season. You got to wonder how
the oblique injury is. Chris Godwin ruled out, Bucky Irving
ruled out again. Tampa's ind some trouble here. I don't
know if Atlantic can gain ground or Carolina, but I
do think Tampa takes one on the chin here.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Tomorrow's headlines today Big One chiefs at the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (22:48):
So you know, the guys on staff to give you
a peek behind the curtain, they ask for the picks.

Speaker 7 (22:53):
And I'm still I'm struggling a.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
Bit this week, and I'm like, oh, you know I
have a brand in the NFL, and that's going against
a certain team. The headline for Broncos Chiefs will be
there's bow Use crying Chiefs, Mahomes sick for arrowhead.

Speaker 7 (23:10):
I'm on an island here, Colin.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
Give me the Deedninver Broncos straight up taking down Andy.

Speaker 7 (23:15):
Reid and the Chiefs.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
How about this Andy Reid twenty two and four off
of by six and one with Mahomes. Everybody's citing all
the Andy Reid rest stats and how great Mahomes is,
how he owns this division. Colin, I'm throwing it all
out the window. This is not last year's Chiefs team.
Last year, as you said, eleven to zero one score games.
You know who's dominating one score games this year.

Speaker 7 (23:38):
Bo Nix and Denver.

Speaker 6 (23:40):
Now, I know they've had slow starts, and if you
watch them last Thursday against the Raiders, there's no way
you can bet them this week. Well, I watched it,
and I'm saying that's an aberration. I look at some
of these things. Bo Nicks last year, first meeting with
Spags and Reid twenty two of thirty two hundred and
fifteen yards two touchdowns in the Arrowhead.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
Remember that game they had a lead and ended up
blowing it.

Speaker 6 (24:00):
How about the chiefs Andy Reid and Mahomes? For whatever reason,
they're struggling against pressure. Remember Mahomes was three for sixteen
under pressure against Buffalo and that's with Rice and Worthy.
I don't want to hear any excuses. What does Denver
do Colin number seven in blitz percentage, top three in pressures.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
They're going to get after Mahomes? Can he make the place?

Speaker 6 (24:22):
I know we love Mahomes, He's a Hall of Famer
all that, but I just want to know this year,
why is Patrick Mahomes struggling under pressure? I haven't heard
the media talking about it because they love him, but
why is it not there?

Speaker 7 (24:33):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Well, I don't think they have a consistent run game.
Sometimes they're a little behind the sticks. I feel like
they're in more third and sixes, not third and twos.
And I think it's harder to throw. And I think
it's a convergence of things with no run game always
make I don't care who the quarterback is. They just
everybody you know, Jared Goff, Seattle. They're so good on

(24:57):
the road. Why because Sam Darnold has a run game.
When you go on the road, run games, and defense
travels the passing game and the protection doesn't know his travel.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
This is expected to be the first game back for
the Ohio State left tacking rs Simmons. Simmons, He's expected
to play, you know, returning from that weird absence, and
they struggled without him protecting against the Jags and also
against Buffalo.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
Colin, We'll see what he's made for made up.

Speaker 10 (25:20):
You know.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
Denver's pass rush is kind of nasty.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Tomorrow's headlines today. Listen, it's it's a it's a good one.
One of the many good games this weekend. Detroit Lions
at Philly.

Speaker 6 (25:30):
Yeah, you know your your guy, Dan Campbell. I feel
like you have a bit of a man crush on
Dan Campbell. You're now Midwestern. He is like mister Midwest.
The headline for Lions Philadelphia will be this is how.

Speaker 7 (25:42):
We do it.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
Eagles built for the big dance. Colin, I'm all over
the Eagles here. I'm the Sam Laporta. News that you
revealed kind of shocking. I didn't know this. He's not
practicing again today. Yeah, according to Dan Campbell, that is soools.

Speaker 5 (25:57):
You know, nobody knows what they're getting with penay Sewol.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
I don't know, man, I know that the book on
Goff used to be take him outdoors. He's not as
great as he is indoors. Right up the middle, pressure
Jalen Carter one of the best defensive tackles in the league.
A lot of stuff lines up here for the Eagles
to push around the Lions in the trenches. I do
wonder though, primetime game Monday, that was a big one
against the Packers, and now you got to turn around

(26:21):
and play another primetime game this Sunday night against a
good Lions team. Lions, of course, wet East Coast, then
go back to the Midwest. Now back to the East
Coast after the Washington game. I don't know, Colin. I
like the Eagles here, not a lot, because their offense
is just kind of in the slot. Terry on Arnold
looks like he's gonna miss one of their safety Kirby
Joseph is go either way.

Speaker 7 (26:42):
This could be as long as they don't force feed A. J.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Brown.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
I think they're fine, but get him the ball, right
would you? Would you agree?

Speaker 6 (26:48):
DeVonta Smith is good Goddard's good. Aj Brown's a game changer.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Finally, Tomorrow's headlines today Cowboys is the Raiders. I'm surprised
you picked this game. I didn't have any interest this one.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
Why.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
I mean, there aren't many legups on the board this
late in the season, right the Vegas you know, the
margins are saying betting NFL is hard.

Speaker 7 (27:06):
I don't see how this one's even close.

Speaker 6 (27:09):
The headline for Raiders Cowboys Monday will be Vegas strict
poker naked bootlegs fleece the Raiders. I just, I mean,
why would anybody back the Raiders in any capacity at all?

Speaker 7 (27:23):
I mean, Gino Smith feels like a dead man walking.
I know they, you know, had.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
The max effort against Denver to get the cover, but
they couldn't do anything in that game the scripted drive
and then it was literally nothing the rest of the way, Colin,
this team has messed around with like the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 7 (27:39):
They look bad against the Bears.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
You show me what data there is that says the
Raiders keep these even close. Geno Smith is a total
pumpkin when it comes to primetime games. One in five
straight up, when the lights are bright one in five
against the spread. Like Colin, he's just not a big
time quarterback. The concern obviously with Dallas. They had the
very difficult loss of the defensive lineman, his passing, and

(28:03):
you wonder how a team responds. Everything I've heard out
in the locker room is hey, we're doing it for him.

Speaker 7 (28:08):
They love this guy.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
It feels to me like, you know, a galvanizing moment
for the team. I think Dallas goes and serves. Notice
here coming off that Arizona loss, I think they you know,
at least thirty five points against his Raiders defense.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
All right, good stuff. Also the big game and it's
a Fox game. A Seattle travels to Los Angeles. I
do like Seattle. Mike McDonald took over for Pete Carroll
instantly made an impact. Now in year two, the defense
is hyper aggressive. They rotate in a lot of pass
rushers and a lot of guys they've drafted. Well, here's
Dave wantstat what he sees with kind of a Sean

(28:44):
McVeigh on defense in Mike McDonald.

Speaker 10 (28:48):
Before he got that Seattle job, when he was at
Baltimore as the coordinator, they were first, second, or third
every year that he was there in defense, so he
he obviously had a foundation for what he wanted to do.
I really appreciate what he's done, and you can you
can do it a lot of different ways. You might

(29:08):
get somebody up here it's a blitzmaniac and he's going
to see it completely different. You can win and win
Super Bowls doing a lot of different ways.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, McDonald is special. And you know, I still contend this,
this league is built through the draft because you increasingly
you have to pay quarterbacks, even b quarterbacks. You got
to pay him forty million a year, and so that
means how do you defer costs? You know, you can't
do like Baseball does with Otani's contractor and the Dodgers.

(29:40):
You have to hit on draft picks. Well, Seattle just
doesn't miss on a lot of them. So when you
can hit on draft picks and they're highly productive their first, second,
third years and you're not paying them even first round guys,
you're not paying him big money. And that's what Seattle's done.
They have just you know, they let go of DK
Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and I think kind of the
universal leaf was, uh oh, there is JSN A one

(30:04):
maybe the best one. Then they go get a kid
out of Colorado State, and then they go grab Cooper
Cup at evaluation that's pretty cheap. And then they go
make a deal for Rashid Shaheed and Donald's a big
My take was Seattle was going to be a playoff
team this year. I had him as a wild card team,
and I one of the things I said is, you know,
Donald is so much more athletic than Gino Smith. You

(30:25):
got a second year with Mike McDonald and John Seinner
just doesn't miss in his draft picks. So I mean,
they just they just I mean, you know, certain times
in the NFL it's not that complicated. Just turn the
sound down and watch and just Seattle is fast everywhere
a wide receiver, edge rusher, corners, safety, linebacker.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Seattle just runs.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
And you know the advantages of all those West Coast teams,
they you know, the LA teams you got pretty warm weather.
You know, San Francisco is kind of mild weather. Seattle
gets pretty salty late October on, so they're going to
be you know, there's gonna be these opportunities. Seattle has
been such a great road team, but they got a
home field advantage one of the louder stadiums. It gets

(31:12):
really wet, damp, cold, and windy. I think they're one
of the reasons there's such a good road team. It's
a couple of things. Travel. Your defense and your run
games travel a lot of times. You know, warm weather
team goes into cold weather. The vertical passing game does
not travel. But Seattle's built the travel ten straight road
winds and a lot of them comfortably. So I like

(31:35):
Seattle close in that.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
You know.

Speaker 1 (31:37):

twenty three field First, Things First, Next

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
