Speaker 2 (00:19):
This is the Best of the Herd with Colin cowher
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Here we go. It is a Friday. Let's cap the
week with.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
A strong one. One hour from now.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
We have had a very very strong year in the
blazing five fifty eight percent. Guys in the desert, they'll
be watching in one hour.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Jmac.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
It's inevitable when a young quarterback flourishes, everybody's like, well,
is it the coach or.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Is it the quarterback?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
We always got to give everybody credit. We've got to
figure out who gets the credit. So that's all I'm
hearing this morning. Well it is it Mike Vrable or
is it Drake May? And this is an easy one, folks.
All you have to do is look at the Washington commanders.
Why are they so bad this year? Because Jayden Daniels
got hurt, did Dan Quinn and Cliff Kingsbury forget how
(01:25):
to coach. No, Jayden Daniels is hurt. The team stinks
in college football at seventy thirty, coach matters more than quarterback.
He's head coach, GM and therapist in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Flip it.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Look at Mike Tomlin when he had prime Big Ben
super Bowls, old Big Ben Playoffs, but couldn't be good
teams now yikes. So the colt Shane Steichen was he
a bum last year? No? The upgraded at quarterback to
Daniel Jones Andy Reid's entire career. He's a very good
coach now he's a legend. Why he gets smarter? Mahomes,
(02:00):
you're looking at last night. Eighty percent of the NFL
winning games comes down to your quarterback making five, six,
seven throws or decisions, high level execution that wins games.
Mike Frable's not winning that game last night with Justin
Fields as his quarterback because it was a reasonably close game.
(02:20):
But Drake may made six or seven decisions and throws
that are incredibly high level. That kid is so good
on first down it's amazing. He had a jump pass,
couple sideline throws. That's the difference. I mean, Mike Vrabel
certainly elevates him. Mike Frable made Ryan Tannehill a number
one seed. Remember that in Tennessee. Who did Frabel get
(02:42):
beat by that year in the playoffs at home as
a favorite, Zach Taylor. That's not who beat him. Joe
Burrow beat him with a much worse roster. And Frabel
knows that. I mean, and Vrabel, like Belichick, understands that
a lot of times, just give it to the coordinator
in the quarterback. It's a little harder to do when
Drake May's young, but I mean Belichick largely, Tom Brady
(03:03):
and Josh McDaniels ran the offense. They were on the
phone constantly. So Josh McDaniel's probably the best offensive coordinator
in the league last decade. I guarantee you he and
Drake May are running most of the offense. And that's
not a knock I mean, but I mean, you watch
the Jets offense, it looks like a service academy. They
run on third and eight. That's like the Jurassic. That's awful.
(03:27):
But I watched that game last night. There's another one
of his throws right there. He just made about six
or seven big plays in a reasonably close game, there's
another one, you know, back of the linebacker, in front
of the safety. That's what the kid does. And you know, again,
I am not saying that Reed doesn't deserve credit for
Mahomes In college, Mark Few is Gonzaga basketball. Nick Saban
(03:53):
was Bama football. They recruit, they develop, they're the therapist,
they're the GM, they work the cap, they do the
internationals stuff. They make every decision. That's not the way
it works. Rabel doesn't want to make every decision. He's
trying to build a culture. You see this thing he
does when he's ever, He's been doing this for years.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
That's culture building.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
He is a player's coach and he wants to You
can't do everything.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
You can't do that coach the offense, the defense, do
the cap.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
That's what Belichick tried to do. Old Belichick tried to
do that. He took over personnel. He was terrible at it.
He was a great culture builder and a great defensive coach.
So Rabel's absolutely a huge part of this. But in
the NFL it's always felt like to me, it's sixty
five thirty five, seventy thirty. You gotta have the guy
that can execute at a high level intellectually, physically, emotionally,
(04:44):
and that is a potential MVP.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Drake May.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Drake, how's it feel to get those MVP chants?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
To just have people recognize the way you're playing right now?
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (04:55):
Maybe in a Travion tonight him he scored three touchdowns.
So no, I think it's your friends. You know, been
great with you know mysas I got here, so I
got drafted, and I think just appreciate them for you know,
embracing me, just trying to embrace the city and you'll
give these fans to this team and you know, just
myself just leave it all out there and give them
everything I got.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Here's the other thing about Drake May. He's unbelievable on
first down. He completed seventy eight percent of its slows
on first down last night he was nine for eleven.
That is the highest completion percentage on first down since
they've tracked it. And that they're always ahead of the chains.
What did Belichick say about Brady? When they asked Belichick
about Brady his greatest thing, he didn't say his arm
(05:37):
or you know what he said. He didn't go backwards. No,
pre staff penalties, didn't take a lot of sacks. We
always had second and five, second and four, second and six.
I mean justin fields, you don't know what you get
by second down. With Drake May, you're ahead of the chains.
That opens up the playbook for Josh McDaniels. It opens
(05:59):
up the play book the culture for Mike Vrable. So
so much of what Drake May does is what Brady does.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Now.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Now he's a more athletic version of Brady, and he's
not right now pre snap as good as Brady. But
Brady was so good on first down you were never
playing behind the sticks. That's exactly what Drake May does.
It's a gift. He's great at it. You know. I
said they were gonna double their win total from last year.
My bad, They're gonna triple it. Okay, So Kansas City's
(06:30):
at Denver. They are a favorite, but they're at Denver.
And I made a bold proclamation before the year. I
said the dynasty's over. I did not say Kansas City
would fail to make the playoffs. I said they'll make
the playoffs and they're gonna win another Super Bowl. Andy
Reid and Mahomes may win another Super Bowl. But this
going to the AFC Championship every year, going to the Super.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Bowl every year. That's done, and they'll be good.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
There'll be a playoff team because you're not going to
get four more trips to the Super Bowl in five years.
And if they lose to Denver, they're five and five, okay,
and four games behind the Broncos. So only one team's
ever started five and five and won a Super Bowl.
The reason I made this proclamation was, Mahomes is really expensive,
Chris Jones and Kelsey are really old. It gets harder,
(07:20):
Andy Reid sixty seven. But mostly I said Jim Harbaum,
Sean Payton in division, You're not gonna win this thing
going away. You're gonna have to get intos a wildcard team.
One of the great advantages Brady had very early, I
think in his career. Peyton Manning was in the AFC
East and they moved into the AFC South. You know,
they re aligned the divisions. So Tom just got buys
(07:43):
and Tom got home playoff game. Tom struggled to the
very end when he had to go to Denver and
play in the snow, but Tom was in Foxboro.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Tom was at home.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Tom was comfortable Tom got an extra week of prep,
he got the buy. Those days are over for Kansas City.
You're not getting that number one seed anymore. Not with
Peyton in the building. Say what you want about bow Nicks.
Not with Harbaugh Herbert in the building. You're not getting
that number one seat. And so I've said this before.
So much of Saban's run was the incompetency of the
rest of the SEC. So much of Lebron's dominance in
(08:14):
the NBA was the incompetence of the NBA's Eastern Conference.
It's very, very hard once Kirby Smart Texas get into
the SEC and Nick Saban's like, get me out of here.
Urban Meyer dominated the SEC, then Nick Saban arrived, Right,
It's hard to be a dominant golfer skier team when
(08:36):
you got an All timer breathing down your neck. And
so Sean Payton and Jim Harbar arguably the second and
third best coach in the league, and Andy maybe the first.
It's just a natural progression. Mahomes is getting older and
he's a little more expensive, and then you can't miss
on his many draft picks, and every good GM misses
(08:58):
on draft picks. You can't miss on him now because
you don't have the ability to go buy players. When
your quarterback costs what Josh Allen does or or Herbert
does or a Mahomes does, you can't. So I think
the I think the game is it is not in
my blazing five. I said, you know, if it was
only minus three, I think I would take Kansas City.
It's three and a half. So it's a stay away
(09:20):
for me. And here's here's Patrick on facing the rival Broncos.
Speaker 7 (09:24):
I think you understand this game is important. I think
that that's that's the biggest thing. I mean, it's a
divisional game, and they're always important, but with them having
the lead and this needing to go out there and
win to have a chance to win the division, I
think guys understand that if you lose this game, it's
gonna be with them having the tiebreaker and the would
that be like four games ahead of us, it'd be
it'd be tough to go back and get that one.
But all you can do is just handle this week
(09:46):
and that's why you can really worry about And we
still play a lot of great football teams, but like
I said, I feel like if we play our best,
we can beat anybody.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
So I said when I said the dynasty's over. The
reason I said that also is look at last year.
They were eleven to zero oh in one possession games.
That was impressive. But what wasn't they were in eleven
one possession games. Oh, that's because Jim Harbaugh arrived in
the division and Sean Payton was in year two and
(10:14):
had his quarterback in division. So I mean, the Raiders
are non competitive, They're a mess. But I said before,
I'm not sure there's ever been a division in football
that has had a Jim Harball and Andy Reid and
is Sean Payton. That's as good as coaching gets. I
mean the Rams, you think, yeah, they should win their
division every year. Well, Kyle Shannan's in division and now
(10:36):
Mike McDonald's in division, so it matters, it really does.
I think that's gonna be a great game. I like
Kansas City, but I don't love them for the obvious reasons.
Denver at home and Sean Payton in spots like this
is really good, really good. So j Mac blazing five
one hour from now the best game of the year probably,
(10:57):
and sometimes it doesn't work out that way. But Seattle
in La to take on the Rams. That is one
of my Blazing five picks. I like Seattle in that game.
I gotta tell you what's fascinating about that game is
is there an argument that Mike McDonald is the defensive
version of Sean McVay. I mean, he's literally a culture changer.
(11:19):
Six minutes in the building.
Speaker 2 (11:20):

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Let's blaze it up.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Fired Up, It's Collins Blazon, fuck Buccaneers and Bills.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
I like Buffalo at Home minus five and a half
from one hundred degrees in Miami, counting humidity. Now they
get a warm weather team up in Buffalo, where the
weather's forty and windy. They are the number one rushing
offense that matters in bad weather. Outgained opponents in three
straight games, and their last five wins they've won by
at least a touchdowns. When Buffalo wins, they tend to
(12:28):
play downhill and win big. Tampa, Bucky Irving not playing,
Mike Evans, not playing Chris Godwin, probably not playing. Their
offense is dried up in Tampa out gained in five
straight games. They're averaging eighteen points. Are the Bucks in
their last three? They're two beat up. They're asking too
much of Baker Mayfield. I like the Bills to win
(12:49):
an ugly weather thirty to twenty.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Three and cover Seahawks and Rams.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Wise, guys may not agree with me.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I'll take Seattle plus three ten straight road wins, so
that's not an issue. Tied for the fewest sacks allowed
and the second most sacks.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
That's very Denver like.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
It's easy to win games when your quarterback is the
more comfortable, averaging six and a half yards a play.
So they extend drives, keep Sam Darnold JSN on the field,
and not a small note. Great special teams number one PFF.
That matters because the Rams special teams have been wonky
(13:29):
all season. Also, the Rams three of their four wins
have been against backups. On this winning streak, they're a
little overvalued to me, this is a Pickham game. I
like Seattle getting a field goal. Keep your eye on
special team's edge for the Hawks. Twenty eight twenty seven.
Seattle wins outright forty nine ers in Cardinals Ah brock
(13:53):
Perty's playing. I like the Niners minus two and a half.
They're coming off their worst loss of the season. They
will be in a bad mood. Rock Purty, of all
the teams he's ever played, has owned Arizona. The Cardinals
have lost six of seven. James Connor Marvin Harrison out
so they don't have most of their weapons. They've been
(14:14):
outscored badly in the fourth quarter. They don't have much
to begin with. I know j Mack loved him in
the preseason, but they got no juice, no energy, and
they're missing stars. They do not get to the quarterback.
Niners Ozero line has been better than i've given it
credit for Rock Purty has time to throw. His team's
getting healthier. Niners win and they cover twenty eight to
(14:36):
twenty three.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Ravens and Browns.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
I like the Browns plus eight and a half. Have
not lost by more than one score at home against
the division opponent since twenty twenty three. They always played
tough at home against their division. Dylan Gabriel has been stabilized,
no interceptions in four of his five starts, multiple touchdowns
in the last couple. He's been stabilized by a great
(15:02):
coach and.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
He's getting that.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Rookie running back quinch On Judkins is now on fire
and in a groove, so they can do some ball
control in cold weather.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
The Ravens third straight road game.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Play a lot of close games against divisional opponents, and
the utter thing is that defense on the road is
not very good for Baltimore. It's not the same. It's
much better at home. I think Baltimore wins eight and
a half way way too many points. Ugly, low scoring game.
Third straight road game for the Ravens, a little fatigue,
(15:35):
twenty four to twenty take the points.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Lions at Eagles.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
I like Philadelphia. They're a step up team. They're four
and one this year against teams with winning records. They
often play better in the bigger games. Packers, Bucks, Chiefs,
Rams beat them all. Their offense never turns it over.
Four giveaways all season. They don't beat themselves, and they're
great in the red zone. Nobody's better, not even the Chiefs.
So if they can move the ball, and I think
(16:02):
they will, they will score in the red zone. The
Lions defense on the road not the same. Jared Goff
playing under fifty degrees, everything moves down, regression takes place.
Pina Sal's banged up, Sam Laporte's banged up, Detroit cold
weather worries me, and I think Philadelphia knows what they are.
(16:23):
I think they're going to win this game and cover
twenty eight to twenty four, two of the best rosters
in the NFL. So I like a clear dog in
the Cleveland Browns, but I like favored Buffalo, favored forty
nine Ers, favored Eagles, Seahawks Rams line doesn't make a
lot of sense to me. That should be a pick
them to one point. Now that Seattle gets a field goal,
(16:47):
I really like him. Again, keep your eye on special
teams because the Seahawks have been excellent in the Rams.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I think they're using now another kicker.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Nooniere not a im Pacific And.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
With that, we're lucky years ago Portnoy when he was
starting Barstool, they they have emerged as a big college
football network. But the reason they became that is they
went out and hired Casey Smith, who hosts their show
with Portnoy, Big Cat and Brandon Walker, and those guys
are that sounds like a mixer that you get in
(17:22):
trouble with the big personalities. So you're A. You grew
up in Dallas, You're and then you will go to
Texas A and M. Like myself, we didn't have sports
fans in the family. You became this star for Barstool
and we met a few weeks ago at the US
Illinois game. I don't buy Texas A and M. Not
that I don't buy him. They're obviously good. I like
(17:43):
their coach. I know, I feel like they keep beating
teams that have just fired their coach or they're going
to I love Bama this year and it's a little
confirmation biased because I'm such a Kalin debor Fan sell
me in a minute on A and M. They're athletic
at quarterback. They got a lot of big dudes. They
have an nil. Why do I need to buy him?
Speaker 8 (18:02):
Well, first of all, you talk about bias. I mean,
I'm wearing maroon and white kicks today, Colin, I knew
what you were.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Going to come with. No and I.
Speaker 8 (18:07):
At the end of the day, the only teams they
can play are the teams that are on their schedule.
And I hear you about the coaches getting fired. A
and M's also getting those coaches fired. At the way
that A and M is playing in all three phases
of the game, Marcel Reid in the pocket, just everything
from an ex's and O' standpoint is there. The bigger
thing for me is that this team is playing for
Mike Elco differently than I've ever seen them play for
a coach in my entire life.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
He buys into the culture.
Speaker 8 (18:28):
Tommy Moffatt, the strength, strength and conditioning coordinator, came from LSU.
He's got this team playing tough and they just don't
look like the A and M eight and four. So
we've made fun of forever whole life. Yes, I mean
and I have to defend that every year, and then
every November I start getting scared.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
I'm like, oh, is this going to happen again?
Speaker 8 (18:44):
This team is playing differently, and just when you look
at the talent across the board, you look at the money,
the nil and then you get a guy like Mike
Elko and his staff in there, like this team is
for real. And I understand where you're coming from. Alabama.
They're not the same team that lost support of State,
but they still lost to Florida State and m plays
note gets that non conference win, so you have to
believe in them.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
They're nine to zero in the middle of November. I
like that.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
I'm a huge Bama fan. I don't think Ty Simpson's
quite as people project. I think he's a good kid.
He sat for three years, was a backup, didn't do much.
The world's changed. Nil Texas has the most money Texas
and he has the second most money in the conference.
That's the reality is that a lot of these SEC
schools were in small towns where a car dealers like
(19:26):
the rich guy well at Ohio State or Michigan it's
venture capital guys, or Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
It's a different ballgame.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
So Obama is not what they were with saving It's
not Calin de Bor's fault. I think they're underserved because
of that loss to Florida State and everybody just labeled
them because they got dogged, they got.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Dragged, everyone said they were dead.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
I think in the last months your thoughts on Bama,
so I.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
Agree with you that Ty Simpson he has looked unbelievable.
And when you look, they do look a little bit
one dimensional because Alabama.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
They don't run it.
Speaker 8 (19:56):
And you look at the successful Alabama teams, you had
guys that could always run the ball. You look at
all of their rushing stats right now, it's all at
the bottom of the SEC. That's just not the way
Alabama wins games. And I do think under coach Saban
they had a little bit more of a toughness. I
agree with you that it's not coach to Bor's fault,
but there's something about these Alabama teams under Kaylin to
Board that just.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Don't look like they are.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
As tough and as physical at home and got pushed around.
Speaker 8 (20:19):
And that never happens with Nick Saban, and that to
me is a little bit alarming. Now when you look
at what Ty Simpson in this offense has done, especially
in the passing attack. You have to believe in them,
and you know they're going to have guys on defense.
But when they're going up against teams with really good
front sevens and you know that they're going to throw.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
The ball, what are they going to be able to do?
Because they can't run the ball right now?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
So you never asked anybody their age are obviously very young,
and young people talk to young people. Young people don't
talk to people like me.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
So I want to.
Speaker 8 (20:45):
Bring up they just are not that young, and I'm
talking to you right now.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
And that producers ignore me at every request.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
So Lane Kiffin is kind of cool and he's got
an identity and a smart coach told me recently, often
high school players will follow coaches defensive guys want to
go to the big schools. They're going to go to
your Texas's and your Ohio States and your Bamas. So
I think Nick has there's a pied piper feeling in college.
I think he'd be great in the pros. What are
(21:13):
the people that you know, they're young and players and coaches,
what do they tell you? On Kiffen, you have a
heartbeat of the SEC. Does is he considering pro football?
Speaker 8 (21:24):
I think you have to think he's considering all options
at this point. But I think that he connects so
well with these young players, and you see his connection
with Jackson Dart, and he's cool and he's the best
at social media trolling and these guys love that, and
you know that anything that comes out of his mouth,
whether it's in the media or it's on social media,
is going to get clicks. And I think that really
fits in recruiting and for you know, you look at
(21:44):
all the jobs that are open, and he's going to
coach five teams next year. It seems like he's just
going to be coaching everywhere. But right now, what he's
building at Ole Miss, he's making Ole Miss a destination
that you know, ten fifteen years ago, these kids wouldn't
have necessarily wanted to go, and he seems like he
connects to that level.
Speaker 5 (21:59):
So it would be dumb to sit and say.
Speaker 8 (22:01):
He's not considering the NFL, especially the Giants with Jackson
Dart there.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
But I think he's a college coach.
Speaker 8 (22:05):
I think he fits the culture, and he's young, and
he's cool and he's happy there he's got young kids.
If I was him, I would stay in college.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
But you know, no, I think it's a really good point.
I think fit in life matters. And I think he's
just snarky enough that he would offend an owner or
a GM. Yeah, he's just inappropriate enough on social media,
like you guys are a lot that it's work for a.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Company that's always inappropriate. That's what we do.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
So tomorrow you're at Wrigley, it's Michigan and it's Northwestern.
I think Underwood's unbelievable. I think he's Oh my god,
he's just an unbelievable talent. Marsh is one of the receivers.
I like, what do you make? You know Dave loves
his Michigan. Do you think deep down in his heart
he thinks this hardball replacements the guy because you know
(22:55):
you when you hire the guy on the staff, it goes. So,
you know, I understand why you do it. Player like
him as loyalty as the brand. Where are you with Michigan?
What does Dave say privately about Michigan?
Speaker 8 (23:05):
Well, Dave is as authentic as you can get. You
know that you've been around him. He believes truly that
Michigan's going to be Ohio State this year, and he's
going to believe it. Even if he doesn't believe it,
he's going to say it. I think that one thing
with this team, they're also young.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
You know, you talk about just the way that they.
Speaker 8 (23:18):
Had the turnover, and it wasn't just losing coach Harbaugh.
It was just a lot of guys leaving, and just
so the fact that they're still even in the mix,
they're still you know, in the you know, the lower
level conversation of being able to get in the playoff.
They would have to be Ohio State on Thanksgiving, obviously.
But I think that this is a great spot for
Michigan to be in. And I see where the nil
money and that's where Dave really loves to get involved,
right because you know he's got the big money coming in.
(23:40):
But I mean, if you're a Michigan fan right now,
you shouldn't be thinking poorly of this team.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
They're young kids and Bryce looks great.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yeah, I know, he's a pretty phenomenal guy. So when
you grow up in Texas and now you live in
New York and you hang out in Chicago and all
this stuff, how do you view everybody said the Pac
twelve going to the Big they won't be able to
handle the weather. My take was they'll bring all the quarterbacks. Yeah,
I mean even Tom Brady played at Michigan, He's fron California,
(24:08):
Andrew Locke, Aaron Rodgers. The quality of quarterback in the
Big Ten now, Jayden Mayava, Dante More, even that nico
I Mahliava's like he's got the skills. So I think
the West Coast teams have brought kind of a smarter
and more sophisticated quarterback driven offense. But how does somebody
like you that grows up in Texas and Big Ten country?
Speaker 3 (24:32):
How do you view sc? Do you see him as soft?
How do you view that? Lile sc? Lincoln Riley thing?
Speaker 5 (24:38):
So I love Lincoln Riley.
Speaker 8 (24:39):
I liked him when he was at Oklahoma, so I
thought it was a great hire. And they actually used
to make fun of me at barstool. They were like,
do you have like a crush on him or something?
Why are you always so high him? It's like he's
an offensive mind that he just needs to find somebody
to help him with his defense, and he's going to
get this team right. I've always thought with USC and
UCLA and Oregon, it's like they're kind of like the
sexy school, but they're not going to be able to
handle it in the s or the big ten week
(25:01):
in and week out. We're seeing that's not necessarily true.
We saw what Oregon did last year. We saw what
Dan Lanning is built. You're seeing, you know, USC is
very clearly in the hunt.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
This is good at home. USC is good at home, and.
Speaker 8 (25:11):
I just truly believe that, you know, you see these
different fits. I didn't like that the PAC twelve fell
apart because right before it fell apart, you had a
million quarterbacks in those lie why.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
The best Pac twelve season in the history of the
PAC twelve the last year they had seven good teams and.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
We're like having a funeral for it. It was unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (25:26):
And so to look at that, and I think the
bigger thing was not even necessarily the weather.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
It's the travel.
Speaker 8 (25:30):
I mean West Coast teams having you all the way
the East Coast and back and forth, like it takes
away the regionality of college football which I grew up.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
And you lose two or three hours.
Speaker 8 (25:37):
Yes, of course, and like time, you know, as you
get older, and I mean, you know, I know you
said I'm young.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
I'm not that young.
Speaker 8 (25:42):
Time really does matter when it comes to and these
guys are so used to rigid schedules.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
So but I do like seeing the quarterback play. It's
the Big ten. Used to be, it's like you're gonna
run the rock.
Speaker 8 (25:50):
You know, you're gonna have these great, big offensive linemen
and it's going to be, you know, a nine to
six game. Now you're seeing guys like Dante More and
you're seeing just these teams have these offenses that come
from the Pac twelve.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
That's exciting.
Speaker 8 (26:00):
Now if they played you know, a weekend and week
out every single year, it'll start to even out for sure.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
The so you barstools interesting, So I don't really know.
I've met Big Cat and Brand and you and Port
and I have met him.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
It's a it's.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
A wild a lot of juice, a lot of energy,
and you've really you feel like part of the team.
But it is I mean when it first started, it
was like it.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Was a boys club.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
It was a frat and it was I mean when
I that's what it was, and then you looked it
you or I remember seeing you in Boston and then
you moved to barstool.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
What was your first week at barstool?
Speaker 8 (26:35):
Like, oh my god, it was so crazy because I
was used to Network TV doing three hours of Network TV, like,
you know, every single night, and then I walk in
and it was like right before March madness, and they're
all gambling, and I was just like, what's going on.
We don't have production meetings, we don't have like I
don't have a B block.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
What are we talking about?
Speaker 8 (26:51):
But it was really cool because I grew up with
you know, a lot of guy friends loving college football,
and it was you know, you get to to watch
TV and you talk about the x's and o's and
you hear the ins and outs of what's going on,
and then you go hang out with your friends and
you're sitting down, for the lack of better terms, on
a barstool talking about these games.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
And that's what that's like.
Speaker 8 (27:07):
And that's what what Dave is really built well, is
it's what she would talk about your you know, your
friends with watching a game, but to be the only
woman they're doing at least then we have other women
in content their phenomenal like.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Their first you were a big rock star for them.
Speaker 8 (27:20):
Well, thank you, especially in sports, like you know, we've
had pop culture chicks in the office.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Was great, but it's it's a different world. But I
love it. And I love that we've now partnered with
you guys because I.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Get both right of TV and then yeah.
Speaker 8 (27:31):
A little bit of x's and o's and like we
have to be professional, and then we get to go
yell at each other and tell each other that we're stupid.
So you know, it's it's a great it's a great mix.
But no, I love working there and Dave's as authentic
as they get.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
So lucky.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Well, listen, this is a pain in the butt for
your schedule, so I appreciate you doing this.
Speaker 8 (27:46):
Please, I'm honored and be here anytime you want.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Okay, Well, it's just god, it's tried pulling teeth getting
these guys to show up Monday through Friday.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
They're just throwing you guys under the bus.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
They deserve it.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Casey Smith, congrats and your success. I'd love to have
be on here.
