This is Gary and Shannon and you'relistening to kf I AM six forty,
the Gary and Shannon Show on demandon the iHeartRadio app. Mar Let'saya is
in for Shannon this week, today, and tomorrow, and then finally you'll
get some rest. Well yeah, and then your listeners, your fans can
have Shannon back. But my,oh my, she is in a gorgeous
place, Oh my god, onthis planet. She's been vacationing in Utah,
(00:25):
and she talked about it before sheleft, about being on these lengthy,
very very nature intensive hikes that she'son. But it's it's you said
it this morning. Almost looks generatedby artificial intelligence, Like you, how
could a place like that exist andjust be as beautiful as it is.
It's blemish free, It looks absolutelyperfect. My first instinct was, I
(00:50):
I liked her post, and Iwas going to write AI generated for sure.
Last night we got to hang outin the afternoon kind of on a
zoom call, basically because I wason the six o'clock news with you and
Alex Michaelson on Fox elevel I justneed to let the audience know that it
was so hard to get him intothe studio today because he's in the hallway,
(01:11):
he's in the parking lot, he'ssigning autographs. Right. Yes,
yes, yes, yes, Iwas on TV last night. I get
it. No, we'll talk alittle bit later about about that, because
it was it was fun. Itwas fun. It's weird because usually if
you do, if I do somethinglike that, I don't talk about me.
I talk about stuff that's going on. I talk about you know,
(01:33):
events or politics or whatever. You'renot used to being interviewed really, yeah,
I mean I know you do goon other shows and do that.
Yeah, but I but but it'snever that. I'm never the topic like
that was. So that was anodd Well, you're the hot topic.
I don't know about that. GovernorRon DeSantis of Florida has declared a state
of emergency for five counties. Moreheavy rainfall expected through the day today and
(01:55):
too Friday night. In fact, had flash flood warnings up in Broward and
Miami Dade Counties. Flood watch forall of South Florida has been extended into
tomorrow through midnight. For example,Hollywood Beach in Florida recorded over fourteen inches
of rain in the day just yesterday. Fourteen inches well, and most of
(02:19):
these locations get what eight inches throughoutthe entire three hundred and sixty five days,
So you get fourteen inches in afew hours. Yeah, you're flooded.
President Biden is in Italy right now. He's meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir
Lynski. In the next segment,we'll talk about him and former President Trump's
visit to the Capitol Today. He'sgoing to be doing a lot of meetings
(02:40):
behind the scenes, not necessarily behindthe scenes, but some closed door meetings
with congressional leadership. They'll be talkingpotentially with a couple of people who are
on that short list for him tochoose as vice president. Also, yeah,
and we won't know who that iswhat until the convention. He says
he's going to make the announcement. He's going to make a show out of
it. Oh, well, I'msurprised that it's not like, you know,
(03:02):
the Bachelor or the Bachelorette. Itmight be, yeah, that's the
thing who gets the rose right? And then we'll talk more with Blake Trolley.
Kfi's Blake Trolley, who was outcovering the story at cal State,
LA. Yet another protest after sixweeks of what was a peaceful encampment,
which I can't believe they still allowedthat, but they decided they weren't getting
(03:23):
enough attention, so the protesters tookover a campus building yesterday, stranding a
bunch of people on the top floorwho were told to shelter in place because
of you, I guess, thepotential violence that could result in or whatever.
I mean. They wanted to keepthem safe from the protesters. The
place is trashed once lately from theinside out too, so we were over
(03:46):
this. This was an active sitelast night on good Night LA at eleven
pm last night, we brought youthe live pictures. There was the encampment
with the umbrellas. They stacked upumbrellas to block the entrance completely, graffitied,
taking office furniture out of this studentservices building, equipment, office supplies.
(04:10):
It's just it's it's it's a lot, and you know that really the
headline no police presence. Yeah,I think one of the things that we
have to do, and I saidthis when UCLA was overtaken by protesters and
then violence broke out, we haveto be able to designate, whether it's
legally through some sort of legal processor just ideologically, we need to designate
(04:35):
schools, colleges, universities as placeas safe places. And I mean that
not in the in the woke wayof saying it's a safe place, that
it's a guaranteed protected place where youare free to move about, you are
free to protesting. Yeah, ofcourse you absolutely cannot desecrate that place because
(04:57):
it is as it is, animportant institution in our country. Well,
it's also the place that you've chosenfor higher learning. You're paying to go
there, but you're also destroying whereyou've paid to go. Well, people
poop where they eat all the time. Unfortunately, to put it poetically.
All Right, A big decision washanded down by the Supreme Court today,
(05:18):
the first of many that will comeout over the next week or two.
Today they issued a decision rejecting achallenge to mif A prestone say it again,
MIFA pristone, the abortion pill, which means it can remain widely available.
Now, the important thing to rememberin the background of the Supreme Court
(05:41):
is this was a unanimous decision. All of the Samuel Alito is too conservative,
and Clarence Thomas is taking too muchmoney, and Brett Kavanaugh is you
have to remember that on basic ideologicallines, they may not agree about politics,
they may not agree about the directionof the country, but when it
comes to dissecting the law and comparingit to the Constitution of the United States,
(06:10):
these are very very smart people.Yeah. And in fact he wrote
for the court, Justice Brett Kavanaughdid and he made that point. He
said, we basically the plaintiffs havequote sincere legal, moral, ideological,
and policy objections to elective abortion andto FDA's relaxed regulation of myth of prestone.
But that does not mean they havea federal case. So he's basically
(06:32):
saying, you can still do yourfight, but you got to take it
to the President, you got totake it to Congress. This is out
of our jurisdiction. The President heissued a statement on x and he says,
yes, it's a win essentially forabortion or for reproductive rights, but
he says today's decision does not changethe fact that the fight for reproductive freedom
(06:54):
continues. Because it does. We'llget into a little bit more in a
swamp watch coming up at eleven o'clock, since DC technically within the swamp.
Oh, also a little bit aboutthat congressional baseball game. Oh yeah,
I watched way too much of itlast night. But up next Trump is
in DC, Biden is in Italy. We'll check in with those two guys
schedules when we come back. Garyand Shannon will continue Marlin's in for Shannon.
(07:15):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon ondemand from KFI AM six forty.
Marlon Teas from Fox eleven has joinedus. How's it go? Okay,
Yeah, everything's going well. Yeah. Yeah. The cafeteria is out of
peanut M and M. Though I'mmaking myself a little too comfortable. I
could say, wow, all right, somebody's getting starting to feel themselves a
(07:38):
little bit. Now, all right, now, Mondo just showed me there's
a snack drawer. Oh yeah,I didn't know that. Yeah, what
do you think? I mean? It's not the greatest snack drawer, but
it is. It is pretty fullof stuff on sure shell takes care of
us. Okay, biggers can bechoosers number one, and we don't have
anything like that at Fox eleven. There used to be guy who worked here
(08:01):
who would spend twenty forty bucks somethinglike that a week. It seems like
on Candy from the ninety nine centstore. Okay, and would you all
chip in? No? And heif you went to visit him, he
would open this drawer and not onlywas it full of candy, it was
precisely stacked candy. Oh so youcould grab a couple, whatever you want
(08:26):
it. You could take as muchas you want. He didn't care.
You'd take it, and you'd makea mess of it. Next time you
go back could be four seconds later. You'd open that drawer again. Everything
was perfectly in line. OCD mouchuh yeah, yeah, so my kind
of guy. Yeah. A coupleof follow up stories. Actually, a
two way shipping traffic has resumed inBaltimore's harbor finally in the deep Federal Channel.
(08:48):
The culmination of this eleven week, one hundred million dollars cleanup of the
Francis Scott Key Bridge, the removalof that container ship that ran into it
part officials expect trade to turn tonormal levels by next year. Early next
year. This disaster cost the BaltimorePort and that region and estimated one point
two billion dollars in disrupted trade. The other follow up story was that they
(09:13):
have they will start tearing down partof Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School tomorrow.
Oh, they were actually supposed tostart doing it today. We mentioned the
rains in Florida have caused some problems, But this is a three story building
where the seventeen people who died wereall in, or where they all were
when they died in that mass shootingback in twenty eighteen, and they kept
(09:37):
it in place because it was eventuallyused as evidence. The building itself was
used as evidence in the trial againstthe shooter, so they don't need it
anymore. I can't imagine going tohigh school there and see the campus ablutely
not. I wonder if this helps. I mean, closure is impossible with
something like this, but it's anotherthing that you don't need to look at.
(09:58):
One of the one of the membersof Congress on the Democrat team,
actually wore a Marjorie Stoneman Douglas HighSchool jersey yesterday in congressional baseball game.
There was some unity going on lastnight. It was nice to see that.
At the end of it. Youknow, Republicans beat the Democrats thirty
one to eleven, which is moreof a football score than baseball. But
(10:20):
I said little league or beer leaguesoftball. I mean but they were literally
playing baseball. I mean this wasyeah, slow pitch anything. These guys
were I wouldn't say they were bringingit, but they were throwing overhand.
But yeah, at the end ofthe game, they're just they're they're happy
people. They get to play. And I'm sure that a lot of what
we see the politically driven discourse betweenthe two of them is just that it's
(10:45):
driven by politics. But a lotof these people were very friendly to each
other and they'd you know, they'dsay hi, high five and everything when
they were on the bases. Andthe Steve Scalis moment in particular, Yeah,
he was the one who was shotin the hip basically almost died ultiple
times after the multiple surgeries he hadto go through. Well practicing for this
game, yeah, back in twentyseventeen. So he gets up and in
(11:07):
the seventh inning he walked, andit was his first time since having been
shot playing in the game and beingable to go to first base. Now
he didn't have to run. Therewas a runner. If he was going
to hit the ball, there wasgoing to be somebody ran for him.
But because he walked, he wasable to get to the base himself,
and it was very emotional. Hewas basically crying by the time he got
(11:28):
to first base. Big hug fromthe first baseman, the Democrat whoever,
I don't know who it was,and then just high fives from everybody in
the dugout. Knowing that this guyis going to retire from Congress, this
is his last game, this wasan opportunity for him to kind of get
back into that. Too bad. That sort of sportsmanship can't be seen when
they're actually doing their jobs, whenthey're in suits and ties. Yeah,
(11:50):
exactly. Former President Trump is backin DC for the first time since he
has become the presumptive Republican nominee. He's got some big closed door meetings with
allies there in Congress, potential vicepresidential hopefuls, even a few of those
people who as early as four yearsago or as recently as four years ago,
said never again am I going tosupport this guy. He should not
(12:13):
run for president, And now thatthey're faced with the reality that he is
the presumptive nominee, they're falling inline. I think the meeting with Mitch
McConnell, Senate majority leaders probably orSenate Minority leaders probably going to be the
most contentious or the most paid attentionto well on truth social If I may,
he already put out a little truesocial comment. I was going to
(12:35):
say a tweet, I'm getting truth. Yeah, a truth, he says.
Great. Meeting with Republican representatives, lots discussed all positive. Great poll
numbers, exclamation point poll numbers.Okay. Meanwhile, President Biden and Ukrainian
President Zelenski are expected to sign aten year bilateral secure Ority agreement at this
(13:01):
G seven summit where Biden is.Zelenski's not a member of the G seven,
but he's there. There are argumentsthough, that they they want to
make. They want to put thisin place, knowing full well that if
Donald Trump is elected president on Novemberfifth, in one hundred and forty five
days, I think it is hecould undo this very quickly. And I
(13:22):
don't know what his appetite is.We know that he's not been supportive of
an ongoing war in Ukraine or usingmore money to defend Ukraine. Claims that
he could stop this thing in twentyfour hours, So I don't know if
it survives a Trump presidency, butthis plan would go for ten years at
least. That's the way it wouldbe written with the hard red line that
(13:48):
Americans don't know American boots on theground, right, and so he is
actively participating in this global infrastructure andinvestments round table right now. There's about
a dozen officials. Yes, it'slive streamed. Oh is it really?
Oh my gosh, I gotta watchthat if it's anything like that congressional baseball
(14:09):
game. Uh, I'm sorry,I'm checking out. If you think about
it, though, the number ofpeople watching right now under fifty thousand.
Yeah, in a world of seveneight billion, yes, yeah, and
most of those fifty thousand probably workfor the people at the table exactly.
All right. Elon Musk is beingsued by from some former SpaceX employees for
(14:31):
sexual harassment. We'll explain what's goingon. You're listening to Gary and Shannon
on demand from KFI AM six forty. Marla Tayo're in for Shannon this week,
Marla from Fox eleven among other places, right somewhere else? Well,
I don't know. I think that'sit. Yeah, Fox eleven. Christine's
off tonight, Christine Devine. She'slike Oprah. Just Christine. Right,
(14:56):
that's enough, So I'll be onat five six ten. I was saying
we were discussing the whole you know, in studio versus zooming in like I
zoomed into the to the show lastnight at six o'clock six forty five,
which we're gonna play and Mono isgoing to post on Socials if you missed
it in a little bit, AndI don't need any comments about how red
(15:16):
my face is compared to you andAlex and your perfect makeup and lighting.
Mine was mine was slapped ash.Well, okay, first of all,
we're under well you just said it. I mean, look a look at
I've caked on makeup, we gotlights. It's like the Barbara Walters lighting.
But you look great and I appreciatedyou taking the time. Are you
already just you told me this morningyou didn't watch it back, so you
(15:39):
don't know how red I look.Well, I could see you in the
monitor. That's not the same.Well, anyway, it was fun.
It was fun, and I lovedwhat you said about Shannon, and so
yes, we will play some ofthat in a bit. Elon Musk is
being sued by some former SpaceX employeesfor sexual harass. The Wall Street Journal
(16:00):
has a report this week that allegesthat Musk made sex, I should say
the civil The lawsuit says that Muskmade sexual advances to women at SpaceX,
including a former intern with whom hehad the sex. The president of SpaceX,
Gwen Shotwell, was quoted in thestory accusing The Wall Street Journal of
(16:22):
presenting untruths, mischaracterizations, and revisionisthistory. Gwinn went on to say,
Elon is one of the best humansI know well. And there are eight
the former employees who are saying thathe created an unwelcome, hostile work environment.
So it wasn't just the intern.I don't even think the intern is
(16:45):
part of this lawsuit. Oh,they're just saying that she was, that
that had happened, ah, andthat somehow that that adds to this sexually
charged environment. But he said this. The lawsuit suggests that he created this
unwelcome, hostile work environment because ofhis conduct of interjecting into the workplace vile
(17:07):
sexual photographs, memes and commentary thedemean women and or the LGBTQ plus community.
They said that some of them hadexperienced harassing comments from other coworkers that
mimicked Musk's posts from Twitter and createda wildly uncomfortable hostile work environment. Well,
and the complaint also says when ahuman resource official suggested conducting an investigation,
(17:30):
he says, quote, I don'tcare fire them. Yeah, Now,
who would be in privy to thatinformation? It the HR person perhaps,
And I don't know if there's otherpeople in the room and that conversation
takes place. But there was aletter to management back in twenty twenty two.
These eight employees detailed their complaints andsaid that this was rampant, there
(17:52):
was a hostile animal house style workenvironment. The day after they wrote that
letter in twenty twenty, four ofthem were fired and the other four said
that they were terminated after an internalinvestigation. The letter asked the executives at
SpaceX to condemn Elon's online behavior onsocial media platform X, which he also
(18:15):
owns. Of course, and theyargue that Elon Musk made light of the
sexual harassment allegations against him since heis seen as the face of SpaceX.
But that letter that those eight authored, they say the employees said that at
least four hundred others signed it.Yeah, that's a lot of people.
Meanwhile, SpaceX and Elon I haven'tseen them, of course. Requests for
(18:37):
comment. So far, no commentfrom either. Yeah, so this is
lawsuit forum. They have also fileda complaint to the US National Labor Relations
Board, said that SpaceX was illegallyretaliating against them, Like we said that
they got fired after the letter cameout. So, as a Tesla owner,
does this make you, you know, kind of feel icky when you
(18:59):
get in your card? Care? No? I also don't care what what
actors. I don't care about theirpolitical stance. I care whether they perform
on the screen. That's it.I mean, in other words, do
your job, and yeah, stayin your life. I mean, it's
not that I don't begrudge anybody theright to say whatever they want to say.
I just trust me your status asa actor doesn't sway me one way
(19:25):
or the other politically. If you'rean intelligent person, regardless of what you
do for work, I'll listen towhatever arguments you have because I feel like
that's probably the thing that gives youGRAVI toss, not whether or not you
have two Academy awards or anything,or in this case, you know the
Yeah, the Biden administration is saying, but we have Robert de Niro.
(19:48):
You saw that, right, Yousaw that news conference that he did.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, thatwas one of the most uncomfortable moments I
think in this whole. I know, Robert de Niro hates Donald Trump,
and they go back and forth andhe, you know, de Niro,
you know, launches these shots atbut just an uncomfortable like that. Why
I know people hate the guy.I'm not a fan of the guy of
(20:11):
Trump, but I don't spend myday burning with this seething you know,
uh ember of hate. I haveother things to do, Yeah, like
life. Yeah, it's a it'sa weird muscle that people like to just
they like to like pick at theirown scab or poke their own bruise to
(20:33):
see if, as Johnny Cash said, to see if they're still alive.
All right, there was the FBIcame down on a guy in Arizona who
they say planned a mass shooting tostart a race war. A weird target
that he chose. But we'll talkabout what the FBI said about this guy.
Gary and Shannon will continue Marlin's infor Shannon this week. You're listening
(20:55):
to Gary and Shannon on demand fromKFI A M six forty. The Supreme
Court upheld access to a widely availableabortion pill if a pristone that rejected a
bid from a group of anti abortionorganizations and doctors that would have unraveled the
FDA's approval of the bill. Thiswas a unanimous decision. It was written
by Justice Brett Kavanaugh held that theplaintiffs didn't have standing to challenge the FDA's
(21:22):
actions and just said this is notthe current this is not the right venue
for you to do this technicality.I guess some people are saying this is
kicking the abortion issue down the road, but well, the Supreme Court saying,
what do you want from the court. It's not up to us.
This is ask your congress person.Do you want them to be too aggressive
(21:44):
and you know, overreaching in theiropinions or do you want them to get
to the ones that are you knowthat they are the right venue to hear
the question. Now, if youlook at the calendar, though the ruling
comes two years, it was inJune of twenty twenty two that the Supreme
Court over rule Old Roby Wade.Wow, I didn't think about that.
Yeah, that's significant. There's andthere's plenty of other opinions still to come
(22:07):
down from the Supreme Court. Weknow the ternam ends at the end of
this month, and over the courseof the next couple of days and weeks,
we'll see something. But by andlarge, and I don't have it
up in front of me, butI was reading that overall as it relates
to how productive this court is interms of their decision making and the progress
they've made. They're behind the ballquite a bit. So in other words,
(22:30):
on the docket they've they have manymore cases still left to decide,
when typically at this time of year, if you know, they only have
a few more. So I don'tknow what the hold up is or the
backlog, but well, some ofthem they probably don't want I mean them
tipping their toe into the whole poolof presidential immunity. I mean the timing.
(22:53):
It's important, but I don't knowif I want my name on that.
There is expected to be more opinionsreleased tomorrow, at least one,
so we'll see. In Arizona, actually he was picked up in New Mexico,
but he said back to Arizona.A guy apparently planned a mass shooting
targeting black Americans and other minorities ata rap concert in May because he wanted
(23:15):
to start a race war ahead ofthe election. Lots of states involved.
So he's from Arizona. From Arizona, the rap concert in Atlanta. And
then when you mentioned he was pickedup arrested in New Mexico, he was
driving along. So I guess fora couple of years, an FBI informant,
they say, a confidential source saidthat this guy, his name is
(23:41):
Mark Adams Prieto, fifty eight yearsold, a press at Arizona, had
expressed a desire to incite a racewar prior to the election. This source
told authorities they'd spoken to him morethan fifteen times over three years at a
bunch of different gun shows and whatstarted a small talk turned into conversations about
politics. But he was he wasa vendor. He was basically a dealer,
(24:03):
a gun dealer at these He wasn'ta you know there just to peruse
what a sneaky gun vendor because hewas in cash. He was only using
cash, and he would only youwould either cash or trade to avoid atf
snoopers perhaps said that this was corroboratedthrough the monitoring with the help of the
(24:26):
source. So the FBI had thisguy, Mark Priodo under surveillance from January
through March. In January, hetold the source and at the time an
undercover FBI agent who was apparently taggingalong to get information, that he wanted
to help they. He wanted themto help him carry out a mass shooting
the targeted blacks that are yet tobe undetermined rap concert in Atlanta, because
(24:51):
he said, why why is Georgiasuch an fed up state? Now?
When I was a kid, thatwas one of the most conservative states in
the country. Why is it notnow? Because as the crime got worse
in La Saint Louis and all theseother cities, all the people moved out
of those places and moved to Atlanta. He did not say the word people.
Well, and there's more I mean, he says, according to the
affidavit, he wanted to target black's, Jews or Muslims, yeah, or
(25:17):
all at the same time. Yeah. He did say he wanted to target
that rap concert because there'd be ahigh concentration of minorities. He planned to
leave Confederate flags after the shooting tosend a message that quote, We're going
to fight back now and every whitehe will be the enemy across the whole
country. And then shout out whitesout here killing, what's we gonna do?
(25:41):
And KKK all the way said hewanted to show no mercy, no
quarter. Well, then then hedid a booboo and he sold an AR
fifteen to an undercover FBI agent.Yeah yeah, and for a thousand bucks,
by the way, and told himspecifically to use it during the attack
(26:03):
and to bring as many magazines ashe could carry, so that that sale
did him in as you can imagine. And he also said, hey,
I have more at my home,so sure enough the search warrant. The
odd part about it is that therewas apparently a date that he had specified
or at least floated as an ideaof the time that he would go to
Atlanta and do this, And theonly artist who was playing at the arena
(26:27):
that he was mentioning on those dateswas Bad Bunny. Oh so I'm not
sure if if he would necessary,I'm sure he'd be fine. There's probably
a high percentage of minority fans ofBad Bunny, but one of Crely the
exact rap concert I think he wasthinking of. Yeah, I suppose up
(26:49):
next cal State LA. The protestsare getting worse. It's time to start
charging people big time. Can't messwith the squarel. We have Blake Trolley
unseen. We'll talk to him afterthe break. You've been listening to the
Gary and Shannon Show. You canalways hear us live on KFI AM six
forty nine am to one pm everyMonday through Friday, and anytime on demand
(27:11):
on the iHeartRadio app.
