Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to kfi
AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app. I didn't listen to anything last night,
nothing at all, so I'm looking forward to this. I
saw some clips on X about Tim Walls and the
football stuff that I ate up with a spoon. What
I did realize is it wasn't just that one gay
(00:20):
bar in Philly that over poors. It's all gay bars
are heavy with the alcohol.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Soems pretty common.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yeah, that's why you got to stick with something.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
One drink and I was like, I gotta go to bed.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Gary and Shannon kfi AM six forty live everywhere on
the iHeartRadio app. We are at United Center one more time.
Today is day four, of course of the Democratic National Convention.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Day bunk bonk.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
It is day bonk bonk it is.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
But I do feel like last night's sleep was the
best sleep.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Oh, it was the best sleep. It was such a
nice sleep. It was I felt like a human this morning.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
It was really nice. We were in bed in a
a a at.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
A reasonable We've been very adult. We went to go
see the Cubs game, which was awesome. You got great seats.
You planned it, you figured out the l you knew
the stops. It was very impressed.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
I also am curious as to why you thought it
was going to be a tough row for me to
hoe to figure out a mass transit system that hundreds
of thousands of people use every day. And it was
very It was super convenient. Like you said we were on.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I mean, it's the.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Stop is two blocks away from the hotel. It takes
you just one one train, seven stops. You get off
at Addison and that's your in basically right field at Wrigleyfield.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I'll tell you why, because usually when I'm traveling for work,
it's with the chargers, and Matt money Smith has really
bad directional abilities, so I end up walking like seven
miles in the wrong direction to get to like the
restaurant or what have you. So I appreciate somebody with
directional abilities.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And it worked. It worked out great.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
The honor of my life to accept your nomination for
Vice President of the United States.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
So that was Minnesota Governor Tim Walls last night accepting
the nomination. He was the keynote speaker on Day three
of the Democratic National Convention and did a lot of biography,
a lot of just introduction of himself and his family
to not just the people in the arena last night obviously,
but for anybody that would be watching.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Is it enough to.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Cross into some of those independent voters maybe even steal
away some of the Republicans bills?
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Why the football stuff worked on me? I mean it
really did. Like that kind of a speech. You know
that That's what I go for, is those football motivational speeches,
and that's what he did.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
He did say, we mentioned this yesterday when he was
approached by the Harris campaign and they were talking about
what it was going to be like, what the campaign
stops would look like in these rallies, and he admitted
to them he had never used.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
A teleprompter before.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
So last night he actually kind of referred to that
and said, you may find this charge to believe, but
I've never really given a speech this big before. But
he said, I do know something about motivational speeches.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
Do let me finish with this team. It's the fourth quarter,
we're down a field goal, but we're.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
On offense and we've got the ball.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Don't give it to driving down the field. Don't give
it to Brandon Staley.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
And boy the right team. He also, I mean, he
got into a few.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Things, took some digs at JD. Vance and Donald Trump.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
But one of the issues that.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
He brought up again was this Project twenty twenty five.
And they they being Democrats, keep trying to paint Trump
and Vance as being the authors of this Project twenty
twenty five. You know, nine hundred page playbook of very
conservative policies and plans that the Heritage Foundation said would
be great to implement in this country.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Journey truth to the narrative on the left that these
people I've put together Project twenty twenty five are all
promise cabinet positions.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
No, that's the other part about So he said, to
use a football analogy.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook,
they're going to use it.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Now he's talking specifically about that Project twenty twenty five book,
and then said, we're not going to go back to that.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
I don't know about you. I'm ready to turn the
page on these guys, So go ahead say it with me.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
We're not going back.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Freaking cult man. Well, this morning, that would have terrified
me if I was there and I heard the chanting former.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
President Trump was on a Fox.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yes, it was on Fox.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Okay, the shoe game. This shoe game. He was excellent shoegame, Sir.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Answering questions about specifically this Project twenty twenty five and
Governor Wall's speech last night.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Guy is a lightweight and he shouldn't have access. And
for him to say about Project twenty five is disgraceful.
They know I have nothing to do with it. I
had no idea what it was. A group of people
got together, they do up some conservative values, very conservative values,
and in some case perhaps they.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Went over the line.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Perhaps I have no idea what Project twenty five is.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
And I love that he can't even say it correctly.
He calls it project twenty five. So I mean they're
going to try to continue to paint him with that's
I thought it was a dead topic a couple of
weeks ago, but I guess it's not.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Well.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Trump is seizing on Tim Walls and the goodwill that
the football analogies have given him in the past twelve
hours or what have you. He talked about they call
him coach. He's a semi coach if he coached some
football for a little while. He then came out and
said that he plans to do a live play by
play on Truth Social of Kamala Harris's speech at the convention.
(05:50):
He wrote that on truth Social this morning. So he's
trying to take the ball from Tim Walls and run
with it. There you go, all right.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
We have more from Governor Walls last night. Also also
Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey were part of the program
last night.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
We'll talk about that.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I was not moved by Oprah from the clips I
saw on Twitter or X. I was not moved by
her speech. I thought that speech about if the house
is burning, we're not just going to save the childless
cat lady inside, We're gonna save the cat too, Like,
what is that?
Speaker 5 (06:20):
What is that?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Did not land with me.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
We'll play that for you when we come back.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Garry and Shannon Live today in Chicago for the Democratic
National Convention. Day four, Live in Chicago today for the
Democratic National Convention.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
It's a really pretty outfit.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
It's very demure. It's mindful, very demure, very mindful.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Man.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
We we hey last night. It's hey, Doug.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
We saw Nancy Pelosi take the stage last night.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
We see her just now walk past us.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
She's a she walked that way, and Elizabeth Warren walked
that way.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Choose leaders who believe in free and fair elections, who
respect the peaceful transfer of house. You said you wanted
to know what was going on with her dental work.
That choice couldn't be clear. That's what you were gonna
ask her.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
Those leaders are Vice President Harris and Governor Walls.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
And I heard this last night.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
One of the talking heads said this week would not
have happened if it were not.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
For Nancy Pelosi.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Absolutely, think about that. I mean, just so, she was
the one who pulled the strings. She was the one
that got on the phone to the members of the
January sixth Committee and got people talking out loud, saying
the things you're not supposed to say out loud, and
the ball started rolling, and man, did it roll fast
down that hill. I mean, she got on the phones
(07:40):
on like a Monday, and he was out of it
like a couple days later.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Well, and remember she said this a few days ago
where she said she wasn't actually asking for him to
step down.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I wasn't asking him to step down.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
I was asking for a campaign that would win guys,
and I wasn't seeing that on the horizon.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah, no kidding, are.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
You all too? I mean she's so powerful yet so small, Okay,
like a little honey badger.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
So the other issue that came up last night in
Governor Tim Wall's acceptance speech was his emphasis on his family.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Gosh and Gwen, you are my entire world and I
love you.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
That to me was the best moment of the night.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Everyone's talking about his kids and how their teary eyed,
and his son who's neuro divergent, and how he's like,
that's my dad, And it was a very nice moment
where they showed that they're real people. Yeah, Gavin Newsom
can't do that.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Oh my gosh, where is he now?
Speaker 1 (08:41):
In a closet?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
What we know that Gavin Newsom was here obviously Tuesday
night because he was the was Monday night. I guess
it was where the delegation of the California delegation was
able to push Kamala Harris over the top with the
right numbers. They do that all the time. It's just
part of the choreography of all of it. And then
he disappeared. I saw an interview kissed off.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I mean, he's he did not get a chance to
speak at this convention. We've gone through the lists of
riff Raft that are speaking. I mean people we've never
heard of. I mean, he's got more name recognition nationally
than most of the people that are down down the
dance card here.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, for some of the people tonight, you've got Alex
Badia Senator of course, Elizabeth Warren, Mark Kelly, those are
all big names, but Tammy Baldwin, Bob Casey, they don't
have the national recognition necessarily that Gavin Newsom does. Lucy McBath,
Maxwell Frost, Colin Alright, I mean all of these these
are all members of Congress that glare few people know.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
It's glaringly obvious that he was left out of the party.
He was not invited, and that has got to be
a tough pill for him to swallow.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
It's also Fudge Night here at the Democratic National Convention,
because former Housing Secretary Marsha Fudge is going to be speaking.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
We talk to some people and I won't name names,
but it's refreshing to hear some of the he died
in woold Democrats talk to us about their Democratic colleagues.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
It's eye opening, it's refreshing, and it's.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Because we know they hate it. Like we take Gavin
and Kamala for instance. We know they hate each other, right,
but they lie to us and they say, oh, we've
been friends for years. And even when they're lying to us,
you can tell they're lying. But still that's what the
words are they come out of their mouths. So here's
people be honest about how they don't like Gavin Newsom specifically.
(10:29):
It's nice. Lets me know that my moral compass is
not off.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
I saw an article this morning that was quote from
former President Bill Clinton who said he probably will not
be speaking at conventions anymore.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I guess he was trembling last night.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
I didn't see the images of hands trembling, but he
was referring to it himself.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
How old is he now?
Speaker 2 (10:48):
He's eighty years old?
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Wow, no, he's not.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Oh I'm so happy when she actually enters the White
House as president.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
He's seventy eight, because.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
She will break my record as the president. We spent
the most time at McDonald's.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
That's because I guess Kamala Harris used to work at McDonald's.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Everyone loves McDonald's. I know time there. That's not unique.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
And remember, we've got a guy that's pretty good at
what he does. Donald Trump has been a paragon of consistency.
He's still dividing, he's still blaming, he's still belittling other people.
He creates chaos, and then he sort of curates it
as if it were precious heart.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
He doesn't look unlike Joe Biden. Well, I mean, he's
got that that that that look that you get, you know,
should we be lucky enough to live long enough, the
kind of like gaping mouths from time to time.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
He hasn't been president for twenty years. Yeah, and he's
still younger than the current president.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
More than twenty years. I mean, it's a lot.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
That is a I mean, it's weird to think about it,
but that was that is odd.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
That is odd.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
And then finally we'll play this part for you because
it's also shown up a lot on the social media.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
And that is oprah winfree. Despite what some would.
Speaker 8 (12:20):
Have you think, we are not so different from our neighbors.
When a house is on fire, we don't ask about
the homeowner's race or religion.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
We don't wonder who their partner.
Speaker 8 (12:35):
Is or how they voted. No, we just try to
do the best we can to save them. And if
the pace place happens to belong to a childless cat lady. Well,
(12:59):
we try to get that cat out too, Okay.
Speaker 6 (13:01):
I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
I don't know what that means.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
False flat my problem on TV. So my problem with
that is that in that applause moment, after she drops
the childless cat lady line, the camera goes to a
woman in the audience who is the uh central casting
childless cat lady? And that poor woman, poor that poor woman.
(13:25):
I mean, I don't know if she is. She could
have six kids. I have no idea, but she looks
like you would imagine a childless cat lady look. And
I feel horrible for her. Not that it's bad to
be a childless cat lady. I'm sure that that's a
wonderful existence.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
I'm sure they're.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
They're wonderful people, absolutely, I know some of them. They're lovely.
But that's a rough go. It was it was who
made that decision? Like, who's the director that made that decision?
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Poor television direction is what I what I saw camera two.
So take three tonight obviously, Kanla Harris's big acceptance speech,
and like we saw with Governor Walls last night, his
biggest speech of his life time.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
This will be her biggest speech of her lifetime.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Carrie Washington is supposed to be the sort of the host.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
The MC for the night. Pink is the musical guest.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Later on today, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania Senator also Senator
Tammy Baldwin and Wisconsin. They happen to be in pretty
competitive reelection races this year, so they will be speaking
before her. Alex Badia of California, Elizabeth warrena Massachusetts, Mark Kelly,
three other senators not up for reelection, not involved in
(14:29):
a busy or competitive election races, so they'll.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Have some time on the stage today.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Former President Trump is in Arizona to campaign, and like
you said, he has promised that he's going to do
a live play by play on his social media of
whatever that speech is and however it goes down. He
did the same thing, by the way, with President Biden.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
State of the Union address. So all right, not all politics.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
We promised we're going to talk about the viral gay penguins.
Then who unfortunately has passed?
Speaker 2 (14:59):
That guy didn't that coming?
Speaker 5 (15:01):
Is that guy?
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
It looks like every other senator in the country. We
are live in Chicago for Day four of the DNC.
Tonight is the big night, the crowning moment for Kamala,
so to speak. And there was a great write up
in Politico and we'll have to get into it coming up,
But it was all about like the ways that Chicago
(15:25):
architecture and politics have met in the past, going back
to sixty eight and everything else. Very cool about all
the different locations in this city that have this firm
spot in political history of the country.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
I mean, if all you did was talk about the
architecture of the city of Chicago, that would be to me,
that would be pretty interesting. But the idea that it's
also sort of infused into the politics also.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
One of the examples was the Auditorium Theater the side
of the eighteen eighty eight Republican Convention where Frederick Douglass
received a vote from Kentucky for the nomination for president,
So the first black man to receive a vote for
the highest office here in Chicago. It's just one of
the examples. We'll get into it coming up later.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Joining us now is Kelly Meyer, the Washington correspondent for
News Nation covers the White House, covers the campaign trail,
covers the Pentagon and Kelly we talked yesterday, you know,
sort of a preview of what we expected was going
to be Tim Walls's biggest speech of his life.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
How do you think it went for him? Oh? My gosh, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
I was just going through my Twitter ex and seeing,
really the same thing that keeps coming up is that
standout moment of his family and his son Gus, when
Tim Walls took the moment to say just how much
his daughter Hope, his son Gus, and his wife Gwen
mean to him, and his son stood up with tears
in his eyes, just falling and clapping and saying I
(16:48):
love you and then that's my dad. It was such
a powerful woman like he's being reshared even by I
see people from on the other side of the aisle
saying that that was a really nice moment, and that
was nice to see that everybody can agree that, you know,
your love for your family and family is a beautiful thing.
So he got a huge reception here inside the room.
Everybody had those coach Walls signed and I thought was
(17:09):
interesting being in here and on the floor last night. Minnesota.
The delegation has a spot on the blue carpet on
the floor because of Walls being on stage, and they
did not leave for quite a long time. They were
flashing life. Everybody had left the building, they were still
almost like a tailgate celebrating for the coach Walls speech
tonight or last night, and they were just so excited
(17:32):
and kept chanting that they just didn't leave the floor
until I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
It's such a stark difference when you look at the
night before with Michelle Obama bringing down the house and
her messaging, and then when you look at Tim Walls
and his messaging. I think it's a moment of strength
for the Democrats reaching two different types of people. Somebody
who's gonna love Michelle Obama talking about, you know, Trump
trying to get a black job, and then the people
(17:57):
that are going to love Tim Walls and his folks
football references.
Speaker 7 (18:03):
Yeah, I mean, I think he seemed to do a
pretty good job of like weaving his resume his former
high school social studies teacher, former high school football coach,
you know where he's from, rural upbringing. Is his challenges
with having children and infertility and describing that and then
kind of weaving that to the policy and the change
(18:24):
that he hopes to enact if elected as vice president
and into office in November. So that was an interesting
way to do it too, because it's because it was
ultimately an introduction to America of who he is. That
was really his biggest stage, and you could see the
emotion as he came out onto stage seeing the crowd
of coach Wall signs. He got emotional and then delivered
that speech. So he was really able to do both
(18:45):
of those things in the speech, and it seemed to
get a very warm reception here inside the room.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
I understand that Congressman, former Congressman Adam Kinsinger is one
of the speakers for tonight. Republican no friend of Trump,
no love law between those two guys, and he's one
of a handful of Republicans who are actually here to
throw their support for Kamala Harris.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Can you talk about those Yeah.
Speaker 7 (19:11):
I'm actually I'm in the halls now and I just
saw him walking around here, you know, just in the
halls of the United Center. So he's getting ready to
speak tonight. We heard from Stephanie Grisham, the former White
House Press Secretary, on Tuesday, I believe it was, and
both of them really broke with Trump pretty much following
the January sixth attack at the US Capital. That's when
(19:33):
Grisham resigned. And then we know that Kinzinger was one
of the Republicans on the House committee that was investigating
the attack, so he's likely to speak about that. We
know he's spoken in the past about the danger that
formal President Trump, he says, represents and what would happen
if he's elected into office. So you are seeing Republicans here.
They do hashtag Republicans for Harris, So I think that
is the main message too from the DNC, is that
(19:53):
they're trying to reach people who don't want to vote
for Trump again and maybe try to bring them over
or especially those and in our moderate voters. So that
will be interesting to see if they get that after this.
But it is interesting because the other candidate in this race,
the independent candidate a RFK Junior, is likely going to
drop out of the race tomorrow and potentially endorse Trump.
So there's that question of where his voters go too.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Kelly, you tweeted not that long ago, I don't know
if I should wait until after I leave Chicago to
say this, but I can confirm I do not like
Deep Dish pizza. You're not alone, Kelly. I'm with you.
It's too much.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
Okay, good, Okay, I felt calling it out. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
No, I'm glad you did because it needs to be said.
I mean, I don't think there's any shame in being
a thin crust girl, and I'm a thin crust pizza person.
I just am.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Yeah, it's too much from Northeastern and PA New York
pizza is definitely where is that?
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (20:43):
I agree?
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Well you're both dead to me.
Speaker 7 (20:45):
Oh no, I'm never coming back on the show now.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
I'm never invited back.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
No you are.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Would you make your way around to the Michael Jordan's statue,
come by and say hi, I know I.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
Got to see you guys. I'm sorry, and get by yesterday.
I hope to see you too.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
No worries, Kelly, thank you for your time. Thank you, guys,
Kelly Meyer. There were Washington correspondent for.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
News Nation coming up next, the viral gay Penguins. Fenn
has died. Hey, it's a no politics zone.
Speaker 6 (21:13):
Did someoney just laugh at you?
Speaker 2 (21:16):
I couldn't tell if that was a laughter.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
No, No one's listening to this.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
Here's one of our talk bags.
Speaker 9 (21:22):
Hey, Gary Shannon during your non political news segment today,
I'd like to know what Shannon thinks about Jim Harbaugh
interviewing Colin Kaepernick for a possible coaching position.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Work of chargers, thank you and you want to you
want to do it now or you want to do
it when you come back.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
I would just say that he loves, he loves Colin Kaepernick.
He coached him in San Francisco. He loves him. He
turned Colin Kaepernick into a great quarterback for a time
and then bencham for Blaine Gabbert. So he says, you know,
I see different things in people, and I see in
Colin a great coach. Colin Kaepernick I think turned it down.
I think he asked him in January to come on
(22:02):
the coaching staff. But Colin Kaepernick's busy with other stuff.
I guess, Oh we went that.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
I just thought that I didn't realize he had turned
down the offer.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Oh you don't read things.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
No, Oh, I just asked you, I'll let you read
live in Chicago. For the Democratic National Convention, we do
today from here tomorrow we got to go to a
different studio because once once the party ends Tonight they
shut this place down.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
So we went to the Cubs game last night.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
We got a broughtwurst, we got a Polish sausage, and
we got a regular Chicago. We covered all our bases.
We went in on the neon relish. We went in
with the mustard. Someone got crap? Who put ketchup on
their dog?
Speaker 7 (22:41):
Was that you?
Speaker 6 (22:41):
It was Oscar?
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Oscar did that one?
Speaker 6 (22:43):
I like ketchup?
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah, that's not cool.
Speaker 6 (22:46):
Everybody, there's tomatoes instead of ketchup.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
And we forgot the Sellary salt too.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Yeah, we were dumb, but you know what, we were hungry.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
And when we're hungry, look out people got ye, people
are yelling in line.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
There's the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Very got a favorite.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
My favorite line of the night last night after the
game was mustard on my finger is a sign of
a good time.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
It is it is. Have you ever had a bad
time that I did with mustard on your fingers? I
have not, But uh say, oh, you got us great seats.
We were like three rows up from the visitor dugout
from the Tigers dugout, and I the entire time was
obsessed with maybe getting on the dugout and dancing. I
(23:27):
asked the security guy how long do I have up
there before I get tackled? And then also, is there
a jail in stadium or are you going to take
me to like the real Chicago jail? You go to
Codium jail. I'm down with that. I've been to the
Disney jail. I've been detained at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
This was going to be nothing new for me, just
another box to check for you in terms of incarceration.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
It was all in good fun too. Yeah, I mean,
you know, it's baseball, it's everybody's lively Chicago.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
But it's like you're going to the real jail. And
that's when my plan was aborted, right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
It's also worth pointing out that that was about the
fourth inning, I think when you asked him the question
of where you would end up?
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Oh, the guy they got fired.
Speaker 6 (24:05):
And then in the.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Fifth inning is a different security guy that came down,
you know between innings when they stand at the bottom
of the stairs and watch.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
The cross Miss God, you're missing one thing in the middle.
So Shannon says he was a cool guy. I want
to take a picture with Jason.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Oh, that's right.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
So she gets up, they take a picture, and that
was it.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
And then again the new guy comes out. I try
to take a picture with him and he's like, no,
that's why Jason's not here anymore. I'm like, oh no.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Immediately, a couple of stories that are going on internationally.
President spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjaminette Yahoo. The US
is pressing Israel and Hamas to agree to a bridging proposal.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Also, the story of.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
That super yacht continues to kind of fascinate people. The
Italian Coastguard says that the body of British tech magnate
Mike Lynch was among those that was recovered off the
coast of Sicily from the wreckage. The builders had said
that that yacht was unsinkable. Can we stop saying that
boats and ships are unsinkable? Because they all are and
(25:09):
it's just a very strange way to sell it.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
This is ridiculous, you guys, This is ridiculous. It's too much,
it's too much. We're not taking that picture.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
That is the great nineteen eighties morning show.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
That's awful. Crist goodness, all right, we have a sad story.
Oh yeah, my death music.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Okay, death music. Sad story.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Yeah, all right, So I got Where'd I put my
dead gay pigeon hereiod?
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Nobody was gay?
Speaker 1 (25:44):
He was gay because he had a gay lover for years.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Feels like, what, wait, how do you know that they
were lovers.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Because they had sex and then they had kids together.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I think, well, if they were, I don't know, I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Cold then I lost my gay pigeon. Sven oh here okay, okay,
I got him gen two pigeon okay. Spen is a
famous gay penguin in Sydney and his partner penguin paid
respects in a heartbreaking way.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
The Australian gentoo penguin died of natural causes after living
a full life. According to the aquarium where he resided,
Spen's partner, Magic was taken to sea Spen so he
could process his death and the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium
explained in their statement, Magic started singing once he saw
(26:39):
his partner's body, and then other members of the pigeon
colony joined in. They were he was eleven, he was eleven.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
They were known as Spenic Yeah get it, like.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
J Lo and Ben right right, right right. They rose
to fame in twenty eighteen when they were spotted swimming
together before breeding season. And this was the pair of
penguins that was given that backup egg, remember the egg
like the mother penguin of another penguin. That penguin died
but left behind an egg, So they gave it to
Spen and Magic because they were like really good parents,
(27:16):
that like adopted parents. And they laid on the egg
and they kept the egg warm.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
I'm afraid to make eye contact with you right now.
You're getting very excited about this.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yeah, they in fact raised two penguin chicks, six year
old Laura and Clancy, who is now four.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Yeah, the penguins became a global sensation. In the aftermath
of raising their first penguin. They inspired a Mardy Graw float.
They showed up in the Netflix series A Typical. So
now it's like, what's going to go on with Magic? Right,
there's an upcoming breeding season. He doesn't have his partner.
I mean, how long is Magic in the last after
(27:54):
spent what is the life expectancy for a penguin.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
About twelve to thirteen years? Okay, so is logic, Spenn
lived a good life. I think Magic is only eight, so.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
He's got a couple of age difference, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Magic is eight, So he's got a couple of years left,
a couple of good years, we hope. So I don't
know if he's going to find love again or if
we're going to have to work to find him love again.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Wow, But can you imagine that a penguin dies and
it's gay lover starts to sing? How does a penguin's
what does a penguin singing sound like?
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Please don't look it up.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
I'm going to look it up. Great, but I don't
have any capability to play it on the air. You
would have to look it up for us to play it.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
On the air because mine's the computer that's plugged into
the thing.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Right.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
That's very sad.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
It is sad. I got it. I got penguins singing
under a sunset. Let's see what this sounds like? Oh?
Can you hear it?
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (28:55):
