Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to KFI
AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app, broadcasting to you from the sand
at Huntington Beach, the Pacific Air Show. And we did
not have high hopes this morning when we got here.
It was pretty overcasts, pretty socked in. But the blue
sky has broken through and we have seen quite the

(00:24):
show so far here today, perfect weather, really nice breeze,
seventy three degrees.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, it's it is going to turn out to be
a pretty great weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
I think for this kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
You can go to Pacific Airshow dot com and get
all the information about how to get tickets and what's available,
et cetera. And if you're here just the sort of
the rundown of everything that's going on the delta. They
are in the midst of the Thunderbirds demonstration right now,
so that's what you hear in the background is the
PA and of course you know F sixteen's flying by.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
It's fly, Everything's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
A couple of stories that were following the big deal
locally is that Jim McDonald, one time assistant chief of
the LAPD, has now been named the chief of the LAPD.
Of course, he has to get approved, as we heard
Steve Gregory say, by the city council, which doesn't appear
to be a problem, but we shall see. This is
McDonald was a guy who helps implement that federal consent

(01:23):
decree as the assistant chief when he was there, worked
under Bratton for a while. He was later elected La
County sheriff, eventually lost that seat to alex Vinaeva.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
And then this also technically.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I guess you could call it technically a surprise to
some people because he's not a woman, he's not Latino,
he's not black and that.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
But he's the right person for the job, which is refreshing.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
It really is that even if there was a push.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Have you got to hand it to Karen Bass for
making that decision.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, yeah, especially going you know what's coming up in
the next couple of years here in Los Angeles. We've
got World Cup, super Bowl, the Olympics and Paralympics of
course coming in twenty twenty eight and all of those things. Uh,
the LAPED is going to play a major role when
it comes to security.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
So well, eleven o'clock is when we dive into Washington.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I swamped is horrible. The government doesn't work. Man make
it's like a reality TV show. Was a bad woo.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Always a pleasure to be anywhere from Washington, DC.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Hey, Joe a town hall who's clearly built on a
swamp and in so many ways still a swamp.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Boy said, drain the swamp.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I said, Oh, that's so keep yep thish.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
You know the thing I love that we're both wearing
our friendship bracelets from Lily today.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
I just it was in my car and I thought.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
You just felt like beautifying yourself, felt.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Like being pretty today?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, well you are.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
There's a couple of things going on on the campaign
trail right now. One of them is that this weekend,
former President Trump is going to be back in Butler, Pennsylvania,
the site of the assassination from July.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
And billionaire Elon Musk will be in attendance those He
recently has become kind of a key figure in Trump's campaign.
He's increased his political spending for Republicans across the board.
He said on X I will be there to support
He hosted Trump during a virtual event on X. He
said he's donating forty five million monthly to a pack

(03:25):
that supports him. He has not rallied with Trump, but yeah,
Trump pledged to return to Butler so he could honor
the life of that firefighter who was killed in the
crowd by that shooter.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
The campaign does say that that's going to be a
big deal, that not only is it going to be
a triumphant return for President Trump, but it's also a
way to honor Corey Comparatory and then the people who
were injured and when that shooting took place back on
July thirteenth. And I'm hoping, actually for his sake, for

(03:59):
President Trump's sake, that he does honor the firefighter the
way he deserves to be honored.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I think he will. I hope so, because he does
so many things.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
About himself, and he makes things about himself, right, I mean,
he's running for president.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
It's not like he can't.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
But this is an opportunity for him to show his
personal side.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Ps Elon Musk, by the way, voted for Biden in
twenty twenty. He supported Hillary Clinton. He was an Obama guy.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
You know, he's he was one of those guys. He
actually posted a meme.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
This would have been several months ago now before he
really got politically active where he described his political position
and he had three different timelines, and he basically said,
I haven't changed. It's the Democratic Party that I used
to support it.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
That that's true. It is so true.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
It is true. You wonder how many Democrats were lost
in the party because of how far left they've moved.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Again.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
More on that Butler Pennsylvania rally that's scheduled for tomorrow,
he had.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I was done.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yes, I just want to say that we.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Haven't talked about about the debate.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I was so impressed with JD. Vance and not not
just the way he came off, but the things he
said were so I mean. And Tim Wallas he was nervous.
He was a football coach that didn't want to talk politics.
He just wanted to talk football. I get it. I
know that guy, right, But like JD. Vans hit it
out of the freaking parks and like like him or
not what he so he spoke plainly about important things

(05:36):
and I left that debate going I wish these were
the two that were running. Yeah, they seemed like the
adults in the room.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Very there was a very common sentiment.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Are common thing for people to say afterwards, which was
that's that's what I wanted to see.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
It was Virgil to each other. They were polite, they
were respectful, they knew what they were talking about, they
were knowledgeable, they seemed intelligent. I mean, I'm like, I
tuned in for what I thought was going to be
a dog fight, and I feel bad that I thought
both thought so little of both of these people. I
just frankly hadn't paid that much attention to them, and
I thought that that was such a well thought out

(06:14):
discourse event.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
It was well executed on both sides. The thing about jd.
Vance is I saw a lot of people write that
they had made up their minds about jd. Vance based
on what had been written about him and the way
he was being covered by the media, and they decided
before they had seen you in a long form right
thing like that, that he was a bad person.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Well, and that's kind of where I got mad at myself,
because I read his book. I liked his book. I
liked that guy. And then I think I just kind
of played into all the narrative and the rhetoric coming
out about him without actually doing my own due diligence
and paying attention to his events. I kind of just
believed in all this stuff I was reading instead of
going and listening to him. So when I saw that,

(06:57):
I was like, hey, you're an idiot. This is a
reminder that you can't take other people's opinion and make
them your own. You have to do the work. We
all have to do the work to find out who
these people are before we elect them, or to choose
not to.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
And I wish that. I mean, like you said, those
two guys are the ones that should have been we could.
That seems more like a normal presidential election is a
choice between.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Two guys like that, Yeah, as.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Opposed to the two that we do have at the
top of the tickets on either side. Is that is
jd Vance what the Republican Party looks like after Donald Trump?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yes, because I mean he still has he was he
had to.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
He was in the role of fleshing out a bunch
of Trump policies that Trump can't talk about.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
I mean, he cannot finish a sentence. But jd.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Vance was able to articulate, articulate those.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Times yes, and elaborate, and he was It was great.
I mean, I think if here's here's a question, I
have say Trump wins, I don't think he's going to.
But say he wins and he serves four years, what
if he is unable to go away?

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Well, I don't I don't think that's a thing.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I mean, because then that's Vance's seat. I mean, if
he carries on with this kind of presence as vice president,
that would be his election to lose in twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Well that I mean, it's I feel like we should
we shouldn't talk about it because it's so far away.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
But it's it's fun to think about all.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Of what happens in twenty eight is being built right now.
I mean because if, like you said, if if Harris wins, well,
Republicans have already a five point of manage going into
twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
It's funny seeing all the Democrats that take up for
Harris when you know they're hoping she loses so they
can swoop in twenty twenty eight. Look at you, Look
at you, Gavin Pete boot Edge Edge, because you can't,
you can't run again. You know she's gonna she if
she wins, she'll she'll run again. Because just the way
that the king making works in this country.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
You can hear in the background the public address announcer
for the Pacific Air Show here in Huntington Beach. We're
going to be down here on the beach until one
o'clock today getting you know, just haven't I don't even
know how we.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Got this job. I don't know where we see there
at beaching do a show.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Very lucky. I just was thinking about, I'm like, how
is this our job today? We're just sitting on the
beach yapping talking about how much toilet paper we used
to wipe. I mean, what are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
You forced me into that. You forced me into that.
I didn't want to talk about. I didn't get up
this morning and think to myself.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
I want to talk about wiping myself.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Let's talk about twelve to fifteen.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Well, I had you know, you've had a couple days
off from me, so I thought i'd come in hot.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah you did.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
We talked a little bit earlier today about these allegations
that have been made against country singer Garth Brooks, accused
of sexual assault and battery. There was a lawsuit that
was filed yesterday by a woman who gave the name
Jane Row. She worked as a hairstylist and a makeup
artist for Garth Brooks and his wife, Tricia Yearwood. The complaint,

(10:05):
filed in a state court here in California, alleged that
the incidents occurred back in twenty nineteen. She said that
she was once raped by Garth Brooks during a work
trip here in southern California. He actually tried to block
this from publicly or from coming out, because he filed
a complaint in the state of Mississippi as a John

(10:28):
Doe a couple of months ago. I believe, and he
has claimed that these are just made up allegations that
she is simply trying to get money out of him.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
It was also twenty five.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Years ago last week that the Chris Gaines album came out.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
You remember Chris Gaines.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yes is an alterary Greg Yeah, wrapped Up in You.
I believe it was a song.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
If I just called that up, I am impressed with myself.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
But I think you're right, yeah, because I looked that
up last night.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
I want to say one thousand.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Wrapped Up in You and it was ninety ninety nine, Yeah,
September ninety nine.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, it's a good song. It's catchy anyway. Matt Jolly
has begun his broadcast here at the air show. He
is really a gem of this air show. He does
air shows all around the country. Burrow winning feature reporter
as well. Matt Jolly has begun the narration and the
air show starts now. They've just been practicing ahead of

(11:28):
the of the start time. Now and what a treat
to the direction.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Lost in You wrapped Up in You was was an
actual Garth Brooks song that he sang as Garth Brooks.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Lost in You was the one he sang as Chris Gate.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Okay, lost in You it is a good song.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yeah, that made it. I think it was top five.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yeah, like it was a Now I want to hear
that song.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
I don't know if you want to. I mean I
could get it.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
But okay, So there's parachutes up there. Okay, that's good,
and I think they're going to land right in front
of us.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Are they coming down?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Yeah, they're coming down right. It's a big, beautiful navy
and yellow parachute signifying the colors of.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
The Ukraine the Navy. That's the colors of the navy.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
I don't know, yeah, okay, I think so, yeah, Okay,
look at me, my knowledge, look at you military. Oh,
I have proof that you may need to get a
better diet going on, because it turns out that, according
to the New York Post, the amount of toilet paper

(12:28):
you need is kind of indirect. Course America, stand up
and put my hand on my heart for a second.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Gentlemen, remove your.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Cat, take your hat off.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
There's they just landed right there, the colors of the Navy.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Why are you talking through America? The armies Michigan? Are
they from Michigan's The army is a gayly street?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
And get.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Do you think Jim harbos here burste.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Gay proof to the that of flags.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
There's the flag?

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Oh say Dan.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Say ben.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
H the land.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
The bad Let's go Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah, I don't know if you could see it.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
So the last guy down was the one who had
the flag chair behind him when the other when the
other parachutists hit the beach, they immediately turned and stood
at attention to the flag. They didn't bother grabbing their
the parachute, They didn't do anything. They immediately turned and
stood at attention and saluted the flag until the song
was over.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Nothing makes me well, not nothing, but a few things
make me more prideful in this land than the airshow.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
That's the that's part of the reason they do it.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, the idea A big, big black Hawk helicopter just
flew by two.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Have you ever been in a black Hawk helicopter?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Those are They are impressive.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
That's another reason to love the country.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Testicular fortitude. When I'm in a black Hawk helicopter.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
And you think about it and I don't have testicles?

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Gary, what? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Are you sure?

Speaker 2 (15:07):
I think most people would agree that you probably do.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
At some point somewhere somewhere in your body on the line.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
A quick political thing also that we didn't touch on.
We obviously we've spent a lot of time talking about
the federal indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
One of his immediate deputies, Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, is
going to resign in the latest turmoil to hit New
York City City Hall. That place is in absolute shambles

(15:37):
and it's only getting worse. So in New York they
have effectively gutted city what.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Is it what they call it? Well, you put the
hat back on this time now, yeah, okay, sorry, it's okay.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I'm just trying to help you out because we've got
people coming up here, and that's bedtime hair, early morning hair.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Well it was early morning when I put my hat on.
I didn't even check it out and see what happened
underneath there. One of the one of the other big
stories that we saw today is.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
That Democrats are a bit concerned that.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Kamala Harris is doing the Hillary Clinton thing where she's
doing a lot of emotional speaking and we've seen her
not be able to flesh out some of the policies
that she has said that she wants to imp.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Pewer hopes and dreams and aspirations and more. What are
you going to do for the or do you try
to do for the economy? And I think I think
presidents get too much credit or too much hit for
the economy. I don't know if there's much they can do,
but it would be nice to hear any sort of Well,
you know, she's done interviews, they're just not being publicized.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
You well, because they're not going to see her folks.
They're done with people.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
I mean, when she sat down with Stephanie Rule from MSNBC.
Stephanie Rule, my understanding is has already come out and
officially endorsed Kamala Harris. Now it's that's that doesn't necessarily
mean that she can't do a good interview or a
hard hitting interview.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
But she didn't.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
I mean, she did come out and she actually criticized.
It sounded like she criticized Kamala Harris because she wasn't
able to kind of, you know, describe the things that.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
She was trying to trying to describe.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
But you know, it's the president has to be able
to answer questions, and the president has to deal with
hard issues quickly, and we need to we need to
know that that person, whoever it is, can do that.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
So I got interrupted with the national anthem, and I
was happy to be interrupted, But I just want to
go back to this briefly. An easy exit of your
output is a sign that your sphincter and your gut
muscles are aligned to push out the output in a
single cohesive movement. So if you use your toilet paper,
the lack of residue on the toilet paper wints back

(17:55):
to a good balance of fluids and fat in your output.
Since the stool with too much water or malabsorbed bats
can be messy and mashed potato, which is what leads
you to have twelve to fifteen squares in your hands.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
I'm just saying it's a head. I've never about your health.
I've never not used that.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
I'll say that I've never not used the twelve to
fifteen a negative.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Oh you've always used it, and.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
It's you just get into a habit.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
That's just right, I guess.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
I mean, if I needed more, I suppose I would
stick around it.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
I think you could ever need more.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
I don't know. I don't know what my diet is
going to be for the rest of.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
The day, but I mean it's important.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, it is scary, Yeah it is.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
We come back. We have company, you know what. Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Great?

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Gary and Shannon live right along Huntington Beach.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Who that Red Bull airplane took.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Off and about that looked like it was about fifty
feet before it popped up into the air.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
It just took off from the beach.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
It's a lightweight aircraft, very very cool. Live as the
twenty twenty four Pacific Air Show kicks off here in
Huntington Beach. Tons of people out here on the sand.
There are babies, there are dogs. I haven't seen any dogs,
but anyway, it's a family event. Everyone loves it, Everyone
shows up and it just is a nice show of

(19:20):
community here in Huntington Beach.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
You can go to Pacific Airshow dot com and get
information about what's going on for the weekend, tickets and
things like that. And as you can hear the PA
announcer in the background, we're talking about these very short
takeoff and landing aircraft, the airplanes that are literally they
took off from the beach a few minutes ago, they
did a few laps and they have landed once again
on the beach, right in front of everybody.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
So it's very very cool.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Sergeant Michael Bowman is our guest. F twenty two Raptor
Demo Team is where Sergeant Bowman joins us from of course,
to F twenty two Raptor, the ultimate military plane unmatched
air dominance capabilities. How cool is that? How cool is
your job?

Speaker 4 (20:03):
I have the best job in the work, So I'm
the public affairs officer for the team, and that basically
means that I get to highlight all of the wonderful
work that our pilots and maintainers are putting in day
in and day out, bringing our platform across the globe
to folks that wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to see
our aircraft and come connect them to our mission and.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
What it is to do. We talk about it. I
mean we mentioned it earlier that.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
This is Shannon says she feels great pride in the
country when we go to air shows. I mean, this
is part of the reason why air shows even exist.
At least the military's involvement is recruiting. I mean, do
you find that it is a good recruiting tool for
the Air Force.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
What we're looking at is trying to inspire that next generation,
whether they're interested in aviation or military.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Civilian, whatever it is they want to do.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
We want to share our passion with them and hopefully
inspire them to go find something that they love and
really pursue it with all of their effort.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
We are talking with Tory war earlier, a pilot of
a microjet, and he was talking about just that he
went to an air show with his parents at Point
Magoo in nineteen eighty saw this jet, fell in love
with it, and that that was it for him. And
we hear that story often whenever we interview pilots. I
think at these air shows where they fall in love.
It's children nine ten years old, and that's what you

(21:20):
get to see being carried out in real time at
this event.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Absolutely lots of folks on our team are that same way.
Our pilot and commander Major Larson started out as a
hail spotter growing up in the.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Middle of the Midwest.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
I loved going to air shows. I had the Prime
Springs Air Show back home, and that was kind of
my introduction at.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
All of this.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
So we know the director of Records had on our
lives and we're hoping to kind of pay that for Well.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yeah, the platform itself, the F twenty two, has been
in development for a long time and it's one of
those who're super I mean, he was growing up with
the planes that we kind of grew up with, the
F four's and the A sixes.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
And things like that.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
This is such a technologically advanced airplane.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
It's almost as if it's.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
More a computer with wings than anything, right, it really is.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
So we are the first ever fifth generation stuff fighter
aircraft in the world and that means a few things.
So we were building off of the self advancements we've
made in the F one seventeen Nighthawks, the S R
seventy one Blackbird and really upgrading our avionics to be
that flying computer, that computer with plan. You'll notice there

(22:26):
are no two seat variants of the F twenty two.
We've eliminated the need to have a backseater because all
of those systems are now integrated. We're in hand in
hands alleviating that kind of mental workload so that the
pilot can have max performance.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Out of their aircraft and just focus on.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Now the F twenty two. You can fly that day, night,
bad weather, the whole bit.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
We are an all weather fighter. We don't really care
what time of day it is or what it looks
like out. We might change the way we fly a
little bit, but we are ready to rock at any time.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Are there any carrier based F twenty twos.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
We are not, so we are a United States Air
Force asset only, so we can't do the fun carrier landings.
We would probably obliterate our tailhooks. We can take off
from the carrier without the nature a catapult. We only
need about seven hundred and fifty feet the runway because
we have a much greater than one to one thrust ratio,
which means we're gaining speed in a pure vertical corn

(23:21):
The F one two has what's known as super cruise,
which means we can get up to one point four
times the speed of sound without having to go into
after brand and rad law fuel. It's an incredibly powerful aircraft.
The maneuverability is phenomenal. For those that come out to
Huntington Beach to see Pacific Air Show, we'll be seeing
us for off maneuvers.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
You didn't know fire aircraft court.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
How did you what's your story? How did you get
your BOFED?

Speaker 4 (23:44):
So I applied from joint raptor Demo public affairs by trade.
So I joined as a broadcast journalist. Both my parents
were in the Army. When I graduated high school, I
was looking at what my options were.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
I decided that, you know, a.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Four year degree in journalism probably isn't necessarily the perfect
entry way into the world. So I decided to enlist.
I went through basic training in Saint Antonio, did six
and a half months at Fortnade, Maryland at the Defense
Information School, went back to Texas for three and a
half years to a tiny little Air Force base that
hasn't had plane.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Since nineteen fifty two exactly. And so they do. What
do they do there?

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Yeah, so good fellow Air Force base. It's a it's
not a joint base, but we host every single branch
out there down at the seventeenth Training Way, So it's
all Department of Defense firefighting training, all Air Force manned intelligence,
all do the signals intelligence in our foreign into school.
So it's a bunch of schoolhouses, a big fire pad
where they teach all the firefighters how to do what
they need to do with aircraft fires and everything else.

(24:45):
And that's about it and send them on their way.
So I was there for three and a half years,
decided it was time for me to see some planes,
put in an application to demo and now we're on
the road. Ever since two hundred and ninety five.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Days a year, does everybody have more journalism education than you?
And I yes, yes, thank you so much. Such it
was so much fun learning about the F twenty two.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
This is great, But you guys have one plane that
goes around as that. I mean, it says the demo team,
but I mean what is what consists?

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Absolutely does the team consist of?

Speaker 4 (25:13):
So we're actually rather small, so we're only fourteen people.
We do not own our own aircraft. These are not
show jets. There is no such thing as a show raptory.
What you're going to be able to see here this
weekend is a one hundred percent unmodified combat aircraft. We
borrow up twenty twos from around the flow, wherever we are,
wherever we're closest. For the demo. We consist of one pilot.

(25:34):
That's our commander, Major ras Larson. He's actually the only
F twenty two pilot in the world certified to flight
demonstration rap that fast, that low, that close to a crowd.
We do bring a spare plane and a secondary pilot.
That pilot cannot fly the demo, but they have a
very important role as an on the ground safety so
they'll be at show center with the air boss on
communications with Major Larsen the whole time he's flying, so

(25:57):
that if we do any kind of exposories the air,
if there's birds in the way, inclement weather or something
like that, we always have our maintenance steam chiefs well
as another trained up raptor pilot and can staying communications
with Major Larson to make sure that he's staying safe
at all times.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Yeah, you got to cram fourteen people into two planes.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
Yeah, Unfortunately, we're usually flying American Airlines Delta commercial.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Not a whole lot of cargo space in the Raptor
so unless they're you know, strapping us up into weapon bays.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Or we're driving. So well, that's awesome. That's great.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Staff Sergent Michael Bowman from the US Air Force F
twenty two Raptor Demo team, Thanks for coming by today.
Have fun, have fun at the I mean, I'm sure
we do.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
I bet you do. Great's great to meet Jim. Thank
you for coming on.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Gary Shannon. We're live today at in Huntings.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
And Beach, and I will say we are adjacent to
Lifeguard Tower seven.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Some of our friends came by and said, hey, if
you could mention that, because we walked all over the
place looking for y'all. So we're we're near seven. We're
near the one that's pushed back from the sand nine
as well a gate b I believe, So stop on bye.
Everyone's having a great time. What a wonderful way to
spend a Friday.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Yeah, this is awful. And somebody brought us breakfast burritos.
I know what is this place.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
It's a magical land.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Stop complaining about your job.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
I never complain about my job. I love my job,
except I keep getting suspended.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Oh yeah, there's that.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
I mean, people still think that you are suspended for
a couple of days. Yeah did you You said it
was a health thing.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
It was, yeah, health ash. She's fine, she's Fine's fine.
It thing's fine.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Stop it just came. It doesn't work again again. How
do I do that?

Speaker 1 (27:41):
I don't know. Are you pressing the space bar? Is
it on? It was volume up?

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Is it on? We'll come back.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
I'll see if I can fix it again. Because there's
some great messages that people have been leaving us about
twelve to fifteen.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Excellent. I love hearing how people.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
We're live today in Huntington Beach for the Pacific Air
Show here in Huntington Beach. The big news that happened
right at the top of the show, of course, was
the announcement that long time Southern California law enforcement fixture
Jim McDonnell is going to stay for a while and
he's going to be the chief of the new chief
of the LAPD, pending, of course, confirmation by the La

(28:20):
City Council. Just doesn't appear to be a problem. The
DOC workers are back at work. They've agreed to a
tentative deal on wages. They've extended their existing contracts through
January fifteenth. They said still some other things that they're
going to work out. But good news because that means
that Christmas can go on as planned. Unemployment numbers came

(28:40):
out today and we saw US job gains increase by
the most in six months. In September, the unemployment rate
did dip down to four point one percent for some reason. Again,
we talked about this early in the show, and well,
we've got to keep everybody up to dat guys.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
I was just wondering if.

Speaker 6 (29:01):
Maverick and Iceman are banned from the Top Gun talk
at home or does their wives have to put up
with it?

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Also one wrap around the hand for toilet paper, one
wrap around the hand.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Oh is funny if you have not seen it yet,
If you go onto our Instagram, there are walking around
the air show two guys who look exactly like.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise from Top Gun.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
I mean exactly. Uh So we actually talked with him
a little bit earlier and took a picture with him.
We will if we haven't.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Yeah, gives me the nod.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
And oh, Yeah, it's on our Instagram stories.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeah, that's pretty great. We're on both different spectrums. My
better half, she wraps.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
That thing around her hand like she's putting the cast on.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
How do you know that? I.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
On the other hand, more like Shannon, I have probably
four to six pieces love your show.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Like, how do you talk about that? I don't know
how my husband should wipes his himself.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
You shouldn't, Keana.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
That's nothing that's ever come up in eighteen years.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Kana. You're about to get married. Yes, do you.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Know how you're soon to be husband wipes?

Speaker 3 (30:10):
Oh? Gosh, you do? I mean yeah, I do?

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Wow, Okay, I need to know that. How did it
come up? Well, he's I don't want to call him outright.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
No, we don't know his name. Don't worry. Okay, we
won't say it.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
I mean we do, but we won't say it.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
He spends like maybe half an hour in the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
I'm okay.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
My brother doesn't go through.

Speaker 7 (30:33):
At least one pack of like the Costco toilet paper.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
You know what comes here?

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Yeah, we use one pack at least like once a week.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
He he puts down some toilet papers.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Now you you you're worried about me in my twelve
to fifteen I. I think that's normal. I think that's average.
I mean, this guy's talking about wrapping it around his
hand like a cast. You're you're talking about going through
so much.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Of it in a week.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Yeah, yeah, hmm. Well, and you know you you kind
of were taken aback when she said he spends a
half an hour in there. My brother does that too.
He'll go into the bathroom for a half an hour.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
That is that to me is more of an indicator
of a poor dietary choice.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
But he likes to have his alone time. It's quiet.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Why didn't he sit in the closet then, because you
know he lives closet smells better.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
He's got the three kids, he's got a woman in
his life. She's lovely, but it's quiet. Nobody bothers you
when you're in the bathroom. Nobody should bother you. That's
nobody should be his ex wife, who's also lovely, the
mother of his children. She's constantly bother so constantly bother
she does not stop talking, and she would he'd be

(31:45):
doing his business and she'd come into the bathroom when
he did his business to talk that's that's that to me,
that's what led to the divorce.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
There are some, there are some.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Don't bother me when I'm in the back, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
I'm like, don't figure.

Speaker 6 (32:00):
And I hope you guys have fun out there, But
I can't believe you guys are in or anyone that's
called in for that matter. Does anybody use actual wipes,
whether baby wipes or dude wipes beside the toilet paper
on top of the toilet paper?

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Yeah, well you can't. Blaesn't really get you one clean, right, Well,
you got to take a shower, you know, Yes, you
take a shower.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Every time you go to the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
You take a shower. Well, how often do you go
to the bathroom?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
How often do you go to the bathroom? Is that
what we're getting really detailed? Now? Once a week and Cannon,
welcome back from your suspension, Garry. I usually use a
half a role perfession. A great weekend. Love you guys. Yeah,
I actually had. I grew up with cousins.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
We were very close and uh My, the younger of
the two brothers would use all kinds of toilet paper
like it.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Was I remember you said when your son was little,
he a lot of toil.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
He also did that.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Yeah, and I don't know what that I don't know
is that is that a like an over arching desire
to be really really?

Speaker 3 (33:09):
I don't know. Good?

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Right, more is better than less.

Speaker 7 (33:12):
I think I'm more scared to like the fear that
my it's gonna my fingers are gonna go.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
Through the right.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Like your nails to nails.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Tell me how many squares?

Speaker 1 (33:25):
I at least do one wrap around my hands?

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Okay, all right, that's good, that's good. But that never wrapped.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
So when I said twelve to fifteen, did you react
the way she did?

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Did you go, oh my god, are you like at
Burt's face?

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Bert?

Speaker 1 (33:39):
His face is everyone's face right now?

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Like what burn hasn't wiped in seven years?

Speaker 1 (33:46):
No, he said he was a twelve twelve to fifteen guy.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
I think you're the only one who reacted that way.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
That's not true. I don't think my husband doesn't use
that much.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
You don't know. You said you're not supposed to know
those things.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Well, yeah, no, I did know until today.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
I think we're going to a lot of my kid
Q tip. That's right, take tip.

Speaker 7 (34:06):
So I get the Scotch well, because they just wrap
it around their hand.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Who knows how many squares they use? Yeah? Q tip? Wait?
Q tips?

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Yeah, so it looks like no, no, he doesn't use
a Q tip. That's not what what it was was.
You wrap it so it looks like.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
A Q tip.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Or you could say a tight roll yeah, or you
could your fingers, you could.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
I guess I wouldn't want to, But Gary, you doing
it just fine.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
My dad trumatized me when I was little with this
rusty underwear.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Now it doesn't matter how many it takes. You just
got to get the job done.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
I'm sorry your dad had rusty under That sounds awful.
This sounds awful. Oh god.

Speaker 7 (34:52):
I really don't think it's a coincidence that the number
one topic on today's show is about white this and
it's also the first day Shannon's after her quote unquote
non suspension.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
It's an excellent that is an excellent point the show
that we had planned today.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
I decided to throw a bomb on it.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
This was nowhere to Yeah, this nowhere was wiping anywhere
in the list of things that we were going to
discuss today.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
And then you come along, Hey, I come along the
class up the joint.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Is that really what happens?

Speaker 1 (35:28):
When happens nothing but class and elegance over here.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
I can't imagine what the place looked like before you
got here. All right, one more hour to go. We
are live today in Huntington Beach on the beach.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
An hour to go. My goodness, you don't have to
go anywhere. You could stay here if you wanted to.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I might.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
We've seen a bunch of the airplanes already, and they
got a bunch more that are going to be coming through.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
But come on out if you are here.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
We're close to uh would you say, Lifeguard Tower seven? Yeah,
and obviously where they're doing construction.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
So come on out and say hi. Gary and Shannon
will continue from hunting to beat.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
Nay, it's gonna need fifteen squares.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
