Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon, and you're listening to KFI
AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Because I genuinely feel that he is the most.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Genuine and most wonderful candidate for Peace Prize, because he
has brought not only peace in South Asia, saved millions
of people.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Shabbaz Sharif they're Prime Minister of Pakistan giving his congratulations
to President Trump in sharmel Shake, Egypt. They have all
been signatories of this new peace deal in Gaza, marking
the ceasefire deal. We mentioned earlier that hostages have been exchanged.
The hostages, the Israeli hostages being held in Gaza have

(00:54):
been turned over. There are still the bodies of hostages
that have to be turned over to some degree. But
then Israel is also freeing a couple thousand Palestinian prisoners
and detainees and sending them back into Gaza as well.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
We have a weather alert. Can you give me some
sort of weather alert?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Do you want something that sounds okay better? Something like
he said, Oh, Bob, it's just kids stuff, right, rain?
What's that smell?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Smell?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Rain? It is a winter like storm. Winter like not winter,
but winter like storm. It's gonna move here. It's gonna
arrive late today into Wednesday. Widespread, significant rainfall, guys, damaging
winds could.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Trigger flash floods.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Floodwatch has been issued from tonight through tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
You know where you.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Are if this is you know where you are if
it's going to be a problem. Recent burned scars, you
know thesh.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
This has already dumped quite a bit of rain on Arizona,
where Arizona, Nevada, and California all come together out the
middle of nowhere. There's been a series of some pretty
heavy cells that have gone through there in the last
few hours.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
The mountains, the foothill areas could see three and a
half inches of rain. You could get severe thunderstorms, chance
for downpours, winds up to sixty miles per hour, maybe
some brief tornadoes and hail as well. Turn around, don't
and around day drive everybody. Travel will be very difficult

(02:32):
to impossible for parts of Yosemite, Kings and Sequoia National Parks,
So you're fitting on being an ass and going up
there and doing illegal base jumping travel Wisely, they are.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Also you can imagine concerned about the burn scar areas.
We have not yet seen significant rain since the burns
in the Eaten Fire area and the Palisades Fire and
others obviously throughout than California. But this is going to
be the first real test that we've seen. It's not
going to be it won't be a winter storm. It'll

(03:08):
be winter like, to to use that term.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
It's not real winter.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
New York has real winter, and they've got the Northeaster
going on right now.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
They actually there is a state of emergency in New
York City and Long Island and Westchester County because of this.
This storm that's been rolling up through there. Yesterday was
a problem. Today is going to be a problem as well.
Do they have Monday night football games tonight. There's two
of them, but I don't think either one of them
Bills at the Falcon, so that's not going to be

(03:37):
a problem, and then Bears at the Commanders. They might
see some weather there in DC.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Because New York played on Thursday, didn't.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
They Yes, right, and then the Jets were in London.
So due to the ongoing northeaster, the Governor Kathy Hochel
declared a state of emergency for New York City, Long
Island and Westchester said we're ready to assist local partners.
Damaging winds and heavy rains will move in the potential
for flooding and power outages. They I was waking up

(04:07):
today and I actually heard Will this morning refer to
traffic being a little bit lighter because of indigenous people's
slash Columbus days?

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Is that what you woke up to? You said, you
were waking up today and you heard Will, so you
listened to it? I said that Will Cole Schreiber. As
you wake up, like holiday, your phone goes off or
the TV's on, and you're awoken to Will's dot toe
docet dulcet dulcet tone, either Amy's dulcet tones or Will's
dulcet tones.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Yeah, usually interesting.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
So have you noticed that there's a difference in your
day if it's Amy you wake up to versus Will, Like,
how does the day progress from that point?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Delightful?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:46):
I mean it doesn't get a whole lot better if
I hear them first. It's almost kind of like a
letdown from that point on. Right, I got another what
is that twelve seventeen hours of downfall?

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I've never woke up to Will, but I have woken
up to me, and it's very soothing. It's a very
nice start to the day. It's I can't imagine turning
on the radio and it not being Amy King, Like
that would be a shock to my system now that
I'm used to hearing Amy in the five o'clock hour,
if I heard somebody else, it would annoy the s

(05:19):
out of me, Like it would just be.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Annoying that you people want. No.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I mean, I'm just saying, like, I'm sure there are
lovely people on the air at five in the morning,
some of which I used to listen to. I don't know,
but after getting into listening to you first thing, it's
just I think everyone else would annoy me.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
It's great, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
Yeah, it's just like too much, too soon. You guys
are so sweet. You must true something. No, it's true.
I'll bring you some candy.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
We don't want anything, all right, all right, So we
were talking about the the ETN fire.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Do you remember the story of the guy who won
the world's largest powerball lottery, the two billion dollars. Yes,
he'scal money. Yeah, An Altadina. Guy, that's right, he's buying
up some of the lots in Altadena.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
What a great story.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
We'll explain when we come back. Garyan Shannon will continue.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
You're listening to Garyan Shannon on demand from KFI AM
six forty.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
President Trump taking a pretty well deserved victory lap. It
looks like in Egypt, Hamas has released all twenty of
the last living hostages, part of a breakthrough ceasefire after
a couple of years of war. The busses that were
also carrying dozens of freed Palestinian prisoners drove to the
west Bank city of Romala and the Gaza strip. Us

(06:40):
and Egyptian presidents are chairing this gathering of world leaders
today called the Summit for Peace. President Trump has been speaking.
You heard from the Prime Minister of Pakistan who suggested
that Trump should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Leaders
from Turkey and Jordan, and Britain and Germany and France
and Italy and the UN and European Union are all

(07:00):
there celebrating this piece deal.

Speaker 5 (07:03):
We have your shot at one thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Most of the people in Elta Diina know who Edwin
Castro is, and we were introduced to him when we
realized he was the guy who bought the record two
billion dollar powerball lottery ticket at a local gas station there.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
In twenty twenty two.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
He is also, now we're learning, one of the biggest
buyers of Alta Dina lots. After the Eaton fire tore
through his hometown, he wants to lead the rebuilding effort there.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Interesting because there are some people who love this idea
and some people who are very very cautious of it.
There have been three major players when it comes to
buying up the lots, at least for those of people
who want to sell, and Edwin Castro is one of them.
He has spent about ten million dollars and bought up
about fifteen of the lots there in Altadena. There's one

(08:34):
in San Diego who is a developer. An Arizona fund
has been buying up some of the lots. Even an
La Area hospice executive has made some of these postfire purchases.
And again, some people love the idea that Edwin is
part of this because he's an Altadena kid. He grew
up there. I mean literally, he bought this winning ticket
in Altadena.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
A petition to block investors from buying Altadena lots has
collected almost fifteen hundred signatures because of the fear. They're
worried that they're going to lose the small town feel
created by those craftsmen homes, the Spanish Revival homes. This
is an influx of investors that they're calling a second

(09:16):
wave of disaster. There has been a number of recent
California laws and bills that make it easier to buy
duplexes and apartment buildings in single family neighborhoods like Altadena.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Most of the plans, at least the way they're laid
out right now, look like they're just going to be
single family homes. But some of those bigger multi family
buildings have been pitched now. Altadena lost nine thousand structures
in that fire, and nine months later, it is very,
very slow to rebuild, despite everybody saying that all the

(09:50):
red tape was going to be cut and that we
were going to have this back up and running as
quickly as possible. And what Edward and Castro says is
this is not charities, not just buying these lots and
then giving the homes back to people necessarily. But he
is planning single family homes. He said. The profit margin
doesn't need to be agreed. He's just not building the

(10:11):
homes to give them away. He does want to sell
exclusively to families who want to settle down. He's not
interested in selling them to people are going to rent
them out. I've talked about it before on this show.
How cool it must be to work on a building,
drive by with your kids in the car and be like,
I built that, I did that, whatever it is, you know.
And he's one of those kids. His father worked in construction.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
He says He remembers his dad bringing him and his
brother to the projects that he had worked on, like
the Getty Museum, and he'd be like, I built that,
I worked on that, or I'm working on that. And
he says that he sees these Alta Dina homes as
a chance to do the same with his future kids,
to show them how he helped bring the neighborhood back.

Speaker 5 (10:52):
What a great story.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
And he wants to live there too.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Instead of yachts and cocaine, he's using the money the
windfall to do something good.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Well, I mean, vintage Porsches and volkswagons may not be
yachts and cocaine. But you know, he's got a place
in the Hollywood Hills. He bought a house in Malibu
that also burned down on the fire, and like I said,
he wants to be there. There's a couple of lots
that he bought up that he wants to build a
big house. So I assume describing it as Willy Wonka

(11:22):
esque because he wants his kids. He wants a family, said,
he wants a family like yesterday.

Speaker 5 (11:28):
Like Willy Wonka.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
So he just wants like generations to live there, or
he wants it to be like the factory of candy.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
He said there would be some whimsical elements in his house,
like underground rooms.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Okay, hey, listen, we all have different paths.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
I know somebody who lives down the street from his
mother there in Altadena, they have twenty four hour security
because people are asking for money.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I bet.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
We'll see where that goes. This is one of the
frustrating things to see it. I can't imagine what it's
like on the inside to be in Altadena having lost
or having a house damage or something like that, and
dealing with insurance and city and county and pyramits and people,
and I just can't imagine.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
All Right, coming up next, let's do our Terror.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
In the Skies, because then we have a terror in
the Space segment we have to get to as well.

Speaker 5 (12:23):
Tear in the space. Yes, Oh the asteroid yep, it's
headed here.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, and it's doing weird things.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Oh, hell yeah, it is.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Bring on the weirdness.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Hell yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Gary and Shannon will continue.

Speaker 6 (12:36):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
It's going to be raining for tomorrow at this time.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
I know, are you gonna be all right, do you
have your galoshes?

Speaker 2 (12:50):
I'll wear my rubbers tomorrow. Is that what you meant?

Speaker 5 (12:53):
That's not what I wanted to hear you say.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Gary and Shannon ki Am six forty live everywhere on
the iHeart Radio.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Betting has gotten so much fun that has gotten wildly
out of control, and I've fallen into this. My brother
called me out on this. He's like, weren't you at
one point betting on darts? And I said, yes, and
I don't like to talk about it, but you know
it's fun and when you start winning and then maybe

(13:22):
that listen. I'm not going to explain myself to you people,
but yes, at one point I was betting on dart
games like abroad.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
I don't know what was happening, but.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
There is a bet for everything all the time, and
we have proof of that coming up in the next hour,
along with a guest who will bet on quite literally everything.
He makes my little dart foray seem like you're betting
on the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Child's play. Yeah, that's child.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Hey, guys.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I like to think I have some pretty good talkbacks
when it comes to disparaging Gary, such as accusing Gary
of not liking people because he does not, or calling
Gary and ahole because he didn't like the greatest sitcom
ever Fraser, and being the one who started the uh,
I'm Gary.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
I have a good sense of directions.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
So I just want to congratulate you guys on ten
years and Gary, yes, I'm not done yet.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
You know what's funny about that is I was just
gonna say, this is a guy who's listened for a
long time, because you haven't hated on fat people or
Fraser for years. I don't remember ever hating both of that.
Used to openly obviously hate fat people and Fraser. You're
making it so much worse than reality. Okay, I don't

(14:41):
think so, and your smile proves it. But like that
has been a long time, Like those two things haven't
happened for a really long time. Like I think you
really did get into the body positivity movement, and like
you haven't. You haven't said anything about anything with overweight
or anything like that for years and Fray, sure, I
haven't heard you bring that up for.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Eight years. So he's been a long time listener.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
You are as high as he is.

Speaker 7 (15:08):
Hey, Gary, and Shannon is Janelle and birds I hope
you guys are having a great day. Governers just wanted
to send our condolences to Gary about Diane Creaton, and
I just had an idea, maybe on Thursday we can
do a tribute.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
No scarves, No we're not, we're gloves. O God, and
maybe Gary monologue, Oh.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
My God, have a great day.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
You guys were trying to have a little peace for
her and her.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Fantastic idea, though, like if if Diane Keaton had passed
maybe a week prior.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
It's too close with the news and bruise on Thursday.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
I think it's too close to for us all ladies
to wear our slacks and our scarves and our gloves
and our hats. I think it's too I don't know.
I don't know now, but I'm thinking about it because
that is a big visual to behold. It could be
a tribute. It could be a tribute.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
It could be I don't think it will. We are
going to be live at BJ's Restaurant in Brewe House
in Huntington Beach once again on Thursday for our next newscembers.
It's time for.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
We're gonna get at least one you think so, Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Oliver Are you ready? It's time for Terror in the
Skies zero and I are to day off. Roger, get
off my plane, Roderick Rodgers. What's our victor?

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Victor?

Speaker 5 (16:33):
No is enough? I have had put these munkey pipe
and snakes on this money.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
It's Gary and Shannon's Terror in the Skies on, you.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
Know, asking Oliver if he's ready?

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Come on?

Speaker 5 (16:49):
He was born ready.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
It was a dumb question.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
That was a stupid question.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
See his figure was on the pun. Of course he's ready, okay.
The strangest story over the week end was this dramatic
helicopter crash in Huntington Beach. Came down on a pedestrian
bridge in the beach parking lot between Twin Dolphins Drive
and Beach Boulevard, right near the Hyatt about two o'clock
on Saturday afternoon. Several different videos now that I have seen,

(17:16):
including one that very close to being underneath that helicopter.
Clearly something went wrong with that tail rotor, but we're
not quite sure. Injured individuals consist of two people who
were pulled from inside the helicopter and three people on
the ground, including a child, all of them hospitalized. According

(17:37):
to the OC Register, A family member. The pilot said
his son in law suffered some broken ribs, crushed vertebrae,
and several bruises. They have not identified a whole lot,
but they have said that as of this morning, that
area had been fenced off, but that the helicopter is
still there. It was all in town for an event

(17:58):
called Cars and Copters scheduled to take part in the event,
which obviously went on yesterday as scheduled.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
The helicopter crash in Sacramento, the one that crashed on
Highway fifty that we told you about, one of the
victims has died. A nurse, Susie Smith, a flight nurse
with the running based Reach Air Medical Services, has died
on Friday evening. The other crash victims were the pilot,
Chad Millward, flight paramedic Margaret Davis. We don't know what

(18:28):
their conditions are. They were last listed in critical condition
at UC Davis Medcenter.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
We've talked about the air traffic control situation as a
result of our government shutdown. Now in second week of it,
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says there has been a slight
uptick in air traffic controllers calling out six since the shutdown,
they do, they are expected to go to work even

(18:57):
though they're technically not going to be paid again until
the shutdown is over. But some people we saw the
last week in the Burbank tower when it was unmanned
for several hours, and we're seeing other delays in other
parts of the country. Some of these people now are
calling out sick and they're taking gigwork like uber driving

(19:17):
for Uber, Uber eats, that sort of a thing to
try to make ends meet until they can get another paycheck.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Flight attendants say there is one type of shoe you
should never wear on a plane. My husband lives in
flip flops. He wears them all the time, or shoeless.
He either goes without shoes or flip flops the majority
of the time, but has a hard and fast rule
to wear hard sold shoes on a flight because if
s goes down, you can't be in flip flops, to

(19:44):
which I say, how often has es gone down, sir?

Speaker 2 (19:48):
It doesn't matter. It's the one time that it does,
and you're flopping around for your flip flops trying to
get a problem.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Like, the flight goes down, you survive, and you're going
to be tripped up on your flip flops.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
I don't you know that is a that is a
good point.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
But I think he's got in his head that like, well,
he's got to go back and save two hundred and
sixty seven other people from the plane. And if you're
going back and forth into the burning fuselage, you're gonna
want hard sold shoes because that's how dudes think, right.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Totally yeah, prepared. He's prepared to save your life and
everybody else's Oh no, no, I'm not one of the
two sixty seven. Oh where are you.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
I'm in the wreckage.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
You gave up.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
He gave up, he gave up.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
You can wait. I'm going to go past you to
the other people and save them first, all right, guys,
Yeah three I Atlas.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
We haven't done an update in a couple of weeks,
but new analysis is showing that this thing is acting strength.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
Come and get me. I'll be in the flip flops.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Gary and Shannon will continue.

Speaker 6 (20:51):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Swamp Watch. A lot going on in DC as a
result of the Gaza peace deal that was signed today.
We'll talk about that. Also, the AI is creeping into everything.
AI is even now creeping into dead people.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
There was an article in the Washington Post about a
columnist and she said, I here's her headline. I used
an AI tool to resurrect my grandmother and it was awful.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Yeah, there's a lot also, Yeah, that sounds awful.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
There's a series of people the new video what do
you call it? Video generator? I guess for AI sora
is what it's called. And you can have this thing
come up with images, moving images, et cetera. And they
were using it to have like Malcolm X and John Kennedy,

(21:56):
John F. Kennedy, these historical figures, celebrity figures, say things
and do things that obviously they would never do.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
I can't stand the deluge of AI images and videos
that seem to be appearing out of everywhere.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
You don't worried me, because it's not.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
There's so much that's real to learn and to understand
and to absorb.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
Why are we busy with all this stuff that is
that is not real.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
I'm concerned about when the first big hoax takes place.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
Oh right, like the War of the World's type stuff.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Yeah, that kind of thing where there's actual, believable, believable
to this thing. That that's what worries me about AI
and how we'll respond because somebody because once you start
arguing about well, that's not even real, that was probably AI.
We're done, we cannot our brains cannot handle, We're already there.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
How many times have you had that conversation in your head, Oh,
that's not real, it's probably AI when you're looking at
something that's true.

Speaker 8 (23:04):
Good morning, Gary and Channing, Happy tenth anniversary, and it's
my day off. It's beautiful in Palm Desert, California. I
just wanted to say that I wholeheartedly agree with you
on the protesters writing naked in Portland because I know
what kind of people they look like. You just know it,
You just see them, and no one needs to see that,

(23:27):
and it takes away from the message. They look comical,
they look stupid. Anyways, have a great date.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
We had one person call in or use the talk
back feature to say, well, how you've been talking about
it for fifteen minutes. You wouldn't be talking about it
if they weren't naked. But that's all we talked about
is that they're naked. Have we talked to it all
about ICE's presence in Portland. No have we talked about
ICE's enforcement in Portland.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
No.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
We All we've talked about is the nakedity. And that's
the problem.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
It's also the face that you make when you're talking
about these naked people. This good.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
I know, I need to arrange my face to not
have it show at everything that I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
There is a new analysis of three I Atlas that
is showing some very weird things. Now. Three I Atlas
is widely believed to be a comet, but it is
showing strong ultraviolet emissions that are unmistakable tell tales of
hydroxyl gas that is a byproduct of water. Astronomers imaged

(24:38):
this thing with the Neil Garreld Swift Space teleg telescope
before it disappeared behind the sun, and they said the
emissions could only be spotted from space because the ultraviolet
light would get absorbed in our atmosphere. If you have

of this hydroxyl gas indicates the comet is ejecting water
vapor at a huge rate torrential, they say, of about
eighty eight pounds per second. Well, that doesn't mean anything
to anybody unless you put it this way. That's about
the same rate as a fire hose running at full blast.

The most extraordinary thing is that this was happening pretty
far away from our Sun, at a heliocentric distance of

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today.
