over ten thousand recommended installers tire rac dot com the
way tire buying should be. So one of the more
puzzling results in the NFL that we've seen this season
is what the hell that was yesterday in the desert
between the Cowboys and the Cardinals, in which the Arizona
Cardinals led wire to wire and we're a thirteen point
(01:38):
underdog in some places, twelve and a half to thirteen
from my recollection in some places and win and won
that game outright, and we're pretty pretty impressive in doing so.
We talked about this last week, like, you can say
whatever you want about Arizona. They play their asses off.
There's a lot of optimism there just with the way
(01:58):
they're playing for Jonathan Gann. But of course it's the Cowboys,
so it's going to cover with a lot of criticism,
including of Dak Prescott, who obviously through that interception in
the end zone which sealed the loss for the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Can I make.
Speaker 6 (02:12):
A public apology for any of the jokes that we've
made about the Arizona Cardinals. I mean, from like from
the jump, the whole Jonathan again zer few you know,
shots explodes.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Like people took that ran with it. Mate.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
He's got this team playing hard. I mean this team,
you know, say what you want, they couldn't they could
be three and oh, if we're being real with ourselves,
they they could be three and oh. Josh Dobbs deserves
all the credit in the world for doing something that's like,
it's so hard to do, I mean, operating an offense
(02:50):
being able to beat I mean, arguably the best defense
coming into this week.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
I think, wasn't that what we'd call Dallas based on
how they look? Yeah? Yeah, I mean maybe San Francisco
you throw up there too.
Speaker 6 (02:58):
But this conversation, he's played his ass off man and
Jonathan Gannon took a blueprint of what they had in Philly.
They've utilized enough of the quarterback run game and some
of the things they're doing with RPOs and zone reads
to play to Josh Dobbs's skill set.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
And defensively, these dudes are playing. Man. I just we
tend to.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Forget and a lot of people would do the whole
any any given Sonday, any team, computing team like it's yeah,
to a degree like that, you feel like that's true.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
This is different though.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
This is a team that's that's, you know, not listening
to an outside narrative. And they have been playing their
tails off every single week. So credit to those players,
credit to the coaching staff. People try to joke, people
try to make take shots of them for what we
thought they were going.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
To try to do and tank and all this stuff.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
That's not the case now, not when you do what
they did to Dallas yesterday.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
I'll say this, I asked myself.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
The first question I asked myself was do you keep
Josh Dobbs in when Kyler Murray returns, Like does it
become a more and more difficult proposition? And then maybe
as the season goes along, I mean until he gets
and how how long is he supposed to be out
for that's.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
The problem though with an ACL, you really should wait
twelve months, so he should like so the season, I
don't know the rush.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
So if you're not in any rush and you're probably
gonna let's say you're thinking about moving on from him,
I mean, does Josh Dobbs play well enough because he
has the pedigree. It's not like you're bringing in the
guy where you say, well, he didn't do anything in college.
So I don't know, that we have any trust or
(04:49):
hope moving forward with him. I mean, you discovered a
rock party and he was a mister irrelevant. I mean,
is this one of those stories that are no has
the potent to bubble up and brew into saying, you
know what, we could do it with Josh Dobbs.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
We could actually do it with Josh Dobbs. I'm not
mean yet, but he's been great so far. He's done
a heck of a job.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
I've I've I was impressed. I was impressed when I
watched him. I mean, his his his escapability, his his
command of the offense. There was there just seemed like
there's a there's a level of confidence that's growing and
and I feel like he's directly attributed to what that
is on the offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Now. I don't want to get carried away either, but
it was a question.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
It was like, okay, all things given with with Kyler Murray,
like it could Josh Dobbs be the guy that that
actually maybe settles into being.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
The guy for this team?
Speaker 5 (05:52):
You know, I just said, I mean thought, look, they
were projected to be the worst team in the league
by far. I mean, and it wasn't even close, and
the conversation was, man, maybe Kyle Murray doesn't come back
at all because he suffered the injury late in the season.
Their win total was what four and a half? I
think that was their win total before the year some books. Yeah,
it's so, I'm I'm on with Brady on this. We
(06:15):
all took shots, you know, not the zoom zooms and
stuff that Jonathan Gannon was talking about, but DeAndre Hopkins
couldn't get out of there fast enough. Like it just
it felt like this was a full blown rebuild. Nobody
wanted to be there. Remember, we were saving. We got
to save Jesse Luketta. We got some somebody's got to.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Go in there and save.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
And now, man, he's in a he seems like he's
in a good spot there with Jonathan Gannon and the
Arizona Cardinals, and I just I'm impressed by Arizona. And
I don't know if the Trayvon Diggs injury had anything
to do with yesterday, but it sure seemed like Dallas
couldn't stop, especially the run.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
I mean, that's not gonna make that big of a difference,
And it didn't go and make that big of a difference.
They had they had answers for Dallas's defense. Yeah, I
mean they did. And listen, the numbers weren't Gotti. It wasn't.
But but that's to me, going into that game, you
have arguably the best player in the National Football League
(07:09):
and he's playing on the defensive side of the ball,
and you have a top defense in the league that
that's coming into the game.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Sure they had a.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Serious injury that that was, you know, leaves a tremendous
hole for their defense and losing Digs, But that shouldn't
have been That shouldn't have been the catalyst of an
Arizona team that everybody felt would be a wounded team
that that doesn't have the type of bite, the tooth
in the mouth to be able to come in and
do what they did.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
In this game.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Dallas, Dallas is Dallas. If you ask me, Dallas is Dallas?
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Here were moment. You want to know why? You want
to know why?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Continue the question what goes on with Dallas? I've told
y'all before, now I'll tell you again. There are two
things on Dallas's on Dallas's deal on on the checklist
that I do not feel comfortable checking off.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
What were the two things I told y'all, he said,
Jack Prescott, and what Jack Prescott? What else? What else?
Speaker 1 (08:14):
They're old line? Their old line? And wherehere are they at?
On there on the sideline? Something on the sideline. You
know where they were at on the sideline, on the sideline.
I heard there on the sideline. They were on the sideline.
And you know what happened. And you know what happened.
Their offense not only faltered, but now your defense has
(08:37):
an off day, so you have an off day on defense.
God bless you had an off day. I mean, I
love I said, I like Dobbs. It's a great little
little little story there developing. But he wasn't a world beater.
He protected the ball, he made some strong decisions. But
you look at Dallas's team and you're telling me, if
(08:57):
you find yourself in a game, you can't respond to that.
They put up nine points in the first quarter, you
can't keep up with nine. They put up twelve points
in the second quarter, Well you can't. You can't keep
up with twelve points?
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Now you can.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Honestly, you're saying, this is a Super Bowl contending team,
why can't we not keep up? But that is that
is such false enthusiasm on a Monday. I ain't gonna
lie to you, but let me run with it.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
So you're telling me that you guys speak to me,
can't What what was that?
Speaker 6 (09:35):
That was like your interpretation of like being at a
Baptist church, but.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Church I was raised.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Everybody, turn to your neighbors, Turn to your neighbor and
ask them why can't why can't Dallas do what they
need to do all the time?
Speaker 4 (09:52):
All right?
Speaker 6 (09:54):
To your point, though, I do think this opens up
for questions about Mike McCarthy and where it does though,
like like this is not that was not a game
that Dallas should have had any issues with if they
are truly a Super Bowl contender. And yet like I'm
gonna give all the credit to the Cardinals the way
(10:14):
they play and all that, and really they should be
two and one, right, they blew that game last week
versus Jack did they did?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
So the hard thing for.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
Arizona moving forward as we just kind of put a
bow on that with that win loss total whatever, it
was three and a half, four and a half. I
didn't think I saw a couple of books at three
and a half. They go to San fran next week.
I mean They got Cincy after that, which you've got
to hope that since that he's not playing with Burrow
back to back weeks in the division to LA Rams Seattle.
Then they have baltimorecause they got to play the AFC North,
(10:46):
and then at Cleveland, Atlanta at Houston.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
That doesn't look like an easy.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Game anymore, and then again a divisional game versus l
A Rams at Pittsburgh. Then they have their bye week fourteen,
So you know, having a buy that late in the
season doesn't do you a whole heck of a lot
of good. You hate what it's early, but you also
hate when it's this late. And then they finish up
with San fran the doormat of the Chicago Bears at Philly,
(11:13):
then Seattle. They have a brutal schedule for a team
that wasn't very good last year and a team that's
currently got one win in the first three weeks.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
So I don't know if they're gonna be able to.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
Hit that over, but it's uh, it's been it's been
fun to watch this team fight like they've got some grit.
They've got some fights so well they do, and and
and their coaching staff and team deserves a ton of credit.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
But that doesn't even Josh dobbs Man.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
And by the way, the offensive line of the sideline
you're referring to is Tyler Biattish and Zach Martin both
center and UH and left guard were out yesterday.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Here you go.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
But but your homeboy was sitting out there too. He
was watching too. He was spectating, Big Tyron. When he
was spectating too, he was a spectator. What is he
and I are right now? Right Tyron?
Speaker 6 (11:56):
Yeah, because the other two were on on the inactive list.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
There you got three out. What I say, can the
offensive line stay healthy?
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Can they?
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Can they live up to the potential that everybody has
said they're going to live up to. That's what I've
said from day one. I never seen it. I've never
seen it, hadn't seen it. I ain't seen it. Can't
win with it, with it, can't do it, can't do it,
do it, won't do it. Just saying can't do it. Yep,
(12:27):
I'm saying it's a great point. That is what it is.
And I'm not trying to be correct because I really
want my dude.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
So what do you the MVP of the league? You
call it.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
Like, would you would you call them imposters, the Dallas impostors.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Wow, it's got a ring to it.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I did feel easier than coming up with commanders, wasn't
I do feel like we get to a game though,
where we go what was that?
Speaker 4 (12:52):
You know, we go what happened that week? Though?
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Like, isn't there there's usually a game where Kansas City
does that? Once a year there's a game that like
every team usually has that one game where you go, yeah,
but what about that little guy?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
You know that that week at that time, I didn't
go so well, well, I didn't go so hot.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
It was like Eagles Washington on Monday Night, remember Taylor Heineke.
They won that game and there was all the turnovers.
It was just ugly for Philadelphia. Maybe that was Dallas's
ugly game this year. Maybe that was it yesterday against that.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
Yeah, I mean it's and I'll say, like everyone always
say you're a quarterback defender. I said, okay, that's fine,
call it what you want, call me defending quarterbacks. I'm
just trying to provide some perspective, okay, because I've been
in that position that read where if you watch Dak
Prescott's eyes, he's reading outside to end, meaning he's looking
(13:46):
outside to his left before he's coming back in the
middle of the field to throw that ball to Cooks.
And the hard thing about reads like that down in
the red zone that close to the goal line you
lose is well, everything moves so fast that you're you're
sometimes not gonna be able to see some of those
inside players are kind of dropped underneath, and in that case.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
It's got to be quicker in the ring.
Speaker 6 (14:10):
It's it's not that even that has to be quicker necessarily,
it's that when you read outside in a lot of
times you lose vision as compared to reading inside out,
because inside out you're gonna feel and see initially all
where those players are, and they're not gonna be able
to get to the outside that wide that fast, so
you have a feel for where they're at. But when
your eyes immediately go outside with your first read, then
(14:31):
you try to come back inside, you're gonna lose some players.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Like if you're looking left, you're gonna lose some players
to where.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
They're coming from. The right fall in your eyes and
you're gonna miss some of those guys on the inside that
could drop out. So I've always felt like you know
in some of those like there's like a lot of
stick nods, right, you got your little six yard stick route,
and then you do a little non go vertical off
of that. I've always felt like those like if you
can hold your eyes on the backside before you come
(14:58):
back to it always made it easier than to at
least have vision on that because that's ultimately what you
draw the play up for.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
You're not drawing it up for the guy on the outside.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
So look, it looked really bad on film, but I'm
sure as Dak was releasing it he realized that and
saw that dropper underneath it and was like, oh, I mean,
it's one of the worst feelings as a quarterback you
could have.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Well, season's not over, Dallas.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Still, I'm said the season's over. I'm just saying, let's
breaks on saying there.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
I do think we've got clear separation though, at least
in the In the NFC, it's San Fran and Philly
does what I think they're going to do tonight, it's
San Fran and Philly. And then you look at the
AFC and you say, Okay, like I know Kansas City
isn't undefeated, but I.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
There with Miami through Kansas City. I mean he's the one.
My Super Bowl pick is the one that's in trouble.
I mean, my goodness.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
And it's two Pros and a Cup of Joe here
on Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox
with the US. Coming up next here from the tire
rack dot Com Studios, we are going to talk about
what was phenomenal television over the weekend. Fantastic and we've
got stories, lion storylines rather all over the place with
(16:13):
several coaches involved.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
We'll get into that for you. That's coming up next
here on FSR.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here coming
up twenty minutes from now from the tire Rack dot
Com Studios. A Monday tradition the FSRR, we report any issues, injuries,
ailments from a long weekend for all of us here
on the cruise, So we'll get into that for you
again twenty minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio.
(16:54):
But speaking of the weekend, there was some tremendous television
that took place. And I would say that because I
was on a plane with Lead the Lap coming back
from Columbia, South Carolina for the tailgate event that we
had for Graduate Hotels and was watching the Ohio State
Notre Dame finish and my god, heartbreaking for Notre Dame.
(17:15):
But damn, that was a good football game. That was
a really really fun game. And Brady were you were.
Did you go to South Bend? Did you leave Cincinnati
and go out to South Bend for that game?
Speaker 6 (17:26):
I was hoping we could talk more about the Brian
Farrens deep fake and that sound that wasn't real, because
now it kind of makes it like you wish he
would have said that and then they would have had
that sort of offensive performance.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Yeah, they're his average took a little bit of a hit,
so the huge shit that pay raise on Saturday.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
And also, like Kate McNamara, was pretty outspoken this offseason.
I mean, I was, Sam, you can probably add greater
context to this, but didn't he make some comments about
people talking trash about the offense that he was encouraging
people to do so.
Speaker 7 (17:59):
I didn't hear that, but I wouldn't be surprised at
all if.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Let me read the direct quote. It's like, I come
to iowas sent to get involved in the show. I
haven't heard everybody season.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
He doesn't, he does. He's trying to forget all about
what the hell happened in State.
Speaker 7 (18:14):
I'm sure that they had a ship on their shoulder
entering the season and they just wash.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Yeah, they walked into a white out and they saw.
I said, it's so crazy. I told people I did.
I didn't I do. I said, I told you guys
about my weekly deal with with Franklin. Franklin said, what
you think our identity is? And I say, there's a
bunch of d bags with that like have a bully mentality,
like but they love each other.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
How do you take that?
Speaker 5 (18:41):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (18:42):
He just he he looked at He's like, huh, Like
it was just one of those type of moments. This
is a bunch of d bags that love each other,
they're bullies and I love it. And and it starts
it's starting to show you go up against a team
that is considered to be largely in part their identity
is to be able to bully you up front. And
(19:04):
you're talking about that Iowa Hawk Eyes team. They're stout
up front, they come off the ball up front. And
I was a little nervous because you know, West Virginia
had a lot of success with us upfront and we're
able to find running lanes, and so you were like, Okay,
this is going to be a true test and a
true challenge for this defense, and it's going to be
(19:26):
a true challenge for the offensive front as well. Let
me tell you something, man, they are a bunch of
battering rams, Like they beat you to death and they
just keep coming in waves. And it was just so
beautiful to see man like Chop Robinson he joined the
(19:46):
party on Saturday finally, like really really showing people why
he's he's a tremendous prospect for the next lesson.
Speaker 6 (19:53):
I was the measuring stick though it was a good
warm up for like the Ohio State game coming one.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
We could say that, but Iowa Iowa upfront and on
defense posed a lot of potential issues for Penn State.
Speaker 6 (20:09):
It could have been a much you know, there's two games.
That'll I'll put it this way. If you look at
the A people right now, the Big ten has three
teams in the top six. They don't have another ranked
team the rest of the way. And by the way,
you could go almost out to your top thirty before
you find another team that's in striking distance of being
(20:31):
ranked like that.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
That big Kennedy four four and Saturday either not anymore. Bub.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
I think wiscon the way back up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
But they were twenty fourth when we played them.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Sure, but I'm saying now looking at it like there's
not another team that's even chlay and I alway shouldn't
have been. By the way, the quote from Kate mcnamer
this offseason is please keep on saying it's the crappiest
I'm paraphrasing offense in college football.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Please just think we're going to be so crap next year.
Please at about that.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Sam, put that in your crop circle and smoke it.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
But keeping that how, you're not gonna I'm not gonna
let one game, you know, to find the season. It
was the first time they're shut out in twenty three years, which.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Is definitely shouldn't because that defense is really good. You
know games that defense is really good. I'm just saying
it's really good. They're really good. And and Drew Aller
is the franchise, he's continuing to improve his his command,
his his.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
His arm talent is uner.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
I mean, when that ball comes out, it goes fast,
it's it's it is.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
It's a lot of talk for a thirty one nothing
ball game. We get to anything else.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
We hadn't collgeta well, we were trying to get to
your ass.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
You wasn't talking.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
So let's let's don't be getting all shaky because y'all
we tried to come to y'all about y'all losing, and
now you you.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Don't want to talk about us winning. Let's saying about Iowa.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
I always got the chance to win more games because
of their byproduct of their schedule. You know, they don't
play another big ten a legit big teniest opponent the
rest of the year, so.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Until that's one where about in the championship round, you know, right.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Which then they'll get drummed. They'll come back, senators, get.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
Back to the champions Enough about Penn States by a week.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Yes, yes, all right, talking about which I don't think
Iowa fans. I respect the fact that you're Iowa. So
that was not me saying that. That was Brady and
Jonas just show us.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
Look, I'm not saying Iowa. Look, I was not ranked.
I mean, that's that's not an opinion, that's a fact.
They've they dropped out yesterday. They people, I'm not sure
their wins over an Iowa State team or Western Michigan
or Utah State really are deservedly of a top twenty five.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
And I think they found that out.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
All right, can we get can we get to that?
Speaker 6 (23:01):
We move on from that one. I mean, there's so
many elements of this. I don't even know where to begin.
I'll say this. I had a chance to go up
for the game. It was one of the coolest atmospheres
I've been a part of, because it felt like one
of those heavyweight, you know, college football playoff kind of matchups.
That's why I can't wait for expansion, because that's what
(23:21):
you're gonna get in the first round. You're gonna get
that sort of home field environment like that. Now, granted
it's gonna be as cold as hell, but the truth is,
it felt as as one of the bigger games that
like I've been at and been a part of, which
was pretty neat to see. And obviously the campus has changed.
Everything changed since I've been there. Like they've got a
(23:42):
jumbo tron and they're pumping in like crowds and crowd noise.
They got a DJ and stuff, not crowd noise, but
like music throughout the game, Like none of that, None
of that was there when I was there, So it's
a it was a crazy, crazy environment, Like it was
three to nothing in a halftime and I'm like, this
is the most unbelievable, like three to nothing game up
been a part of where it just felt wild, like
(24:05):
the fourth downs and a couple of the calls that
didn't go Notre Dame's way, or a couple of plays
that Notre Dame made to stop Ohio State when they
got down on the goal line, Like it was a
wild atmosphere.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
And then there's the ending, which you know, it's one
thing when you.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
Get beat and you just flat out get beat, Like
the team makes a play, they do something, and they
do something where you're just like, yeah, they were the
better team that day. Ohio State was not the better
team that day. There is multiple opportunities for Notre Dame
to win that game, whether a game sealing interception, obviously
(24:40):
that the final you know a couple of plays where
you didn't have eleven men on the field. I mean,
you were that close to stopping them on the final
play with ten guys, not even a defensive lineman on
the side of on that side of the line of scrimmage,
imagine if you just had.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Another body there, they're probably not getting in.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
And so look, give give credit to High State Kyle
McCord in particularly, who kind of helped drive them back down,
made a couple of big throws on that drive.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
But I talked about this in the pregame.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
My biggest concern was stopping Trevon Henderson in the running
and ultimately that ended up being well, neither team.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Stopped the run.
Speaker 6 (25:15):
If we're being real, I mean had taken out orodric
estimate on Notre Dames final drive. I was like, what
are we doing here? But the truth of the matter
is give Aiole State credit. They found a way to
win that game. And that's what it takes in the
college football season, especially on the road when you got
to play a tough opponent. But look, the Ryan Day
comments that was bizarre, Like I've I would say this
(25:39):
in response to that, Like you're talking about an eighty
six year old man who they had the nineteen eighty
national championship team down there in the field and they
were helping to like hold coach holds up obviously given
as health conditions and everything else.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
And do we have the sound for.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Let's play the sound and then I guess our listeners
can decide whether or it's warranted what Ryan Day said.
Speaker 8 (26:01):
Toughness, that's it, physicality across the board, finish it off,
having guts.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
I like to know where Holt is.
Speaker 6 (26:08):
Oh, can we play the lou Holtz sound and then
we could play the Ryan Day sound. Do we have
the lou Holt sound?
Speaker 2 (26:17):
I don't believe we have the lou holes sound.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Okay, yeah, well we have it.
Speaker 6 (26:21):
I guess we're not gonna be able to put this
together then the way I'd like to. But look, we
could play the Ryan Day sound if people had a
chance to go back and listen to what lou Holt said.
He didn't say anything that no one else has ever
said or mentioned. And I'm not sure what Ryan Day thought,
like lou Holtz wasn't going to be biased. I mean,
it's just it was. It was kind of weird to
(26:41):
me him taking shots at him, and let's try again.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
Let's try again. Okay, let's try again.
Speaker 9 (26:49):
And you look at coach Day and I coached at Ohio,
stayed we won the national championship with I went there.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
If you're not proud of that.
Speaker 9 (26:57):
However, he has lost to Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan twice
and everybody meets him does so because they're more physical
than the Ohio State. And I think the other day
will take that same approach.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
Well, now, now let's play the Ryan Day. Sound now
it takes Now it makes more sense. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (27:23):
Toughness, that's it, physicality across the board, finishing off, having guts. Now,
like I like to know where Lou Holtz is right now,
what you said about our team, what he said about
our team. I cannot believe. This is a tough team
right here. We're proud to be from Ohio and it's
always been Ohio.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
Against the world, and it'll continue to be Ohio against
the world. But I'll tell you what, I love those
kids who got a tough team. I mean every year well, no,
they don't. They have one of the last two.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
And in fact, I would I would respond by just
simply saying, this, where's that emotion after the last two
years versus Michigan?
Speaker 4 (27:59):
That's what like, did hold on?
Speaker 6 (28:02):
Did lou Holt say anything that wasn't true about those
previous losses? Like there wasn't anything that he said that
wasn't true. It was for TV. He's an eighty six
year old man. Like this to me came off as
Ryan Day looking just bizarre from taking this emotional response
after a big win, Like that's your first words.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
You don't talk.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
About like your team, your players, anything that stood out
to you.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
You had a quarterback who you had to name as
the starter.
Speaker 6 (28:34):
Because how kind of I guess inconsistent and look through
camp and early in the season, you don't want to say,
what about Cole mccorr and the job he did? What
about you know, our defense? What about Trayveon? Like that's
that's the angle you took to me. To me, I
stepped back and I was like, we are a part
of the hot State Michig game every year and I
(28:54):
haven't seen that sort of emotion And granted after a loss,
but it's like that's where you want to save all
that energy and emotion for to go off on an
eighty six year old coach who's no longer a part
of it anymore, Like you're trying to find him in
the bar, like you trying to beat him up because
of what he said.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
He was bizarre. It was so odd to me. Man.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I would say, players come and go, but a legendary
coach is a legendary coach forever.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
So I bet you he was offended.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
It sounded like he was offended by what Lou Holts
had to say about him. I mean, okay, I'm not
going I'm not going. I don't I'm not going to
go as far as it was bizarre, though.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Say anything offensive like it was that offensive.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I think it was clearly offensive to him. I think
it was offensive to him, and that was why he
responded the way that he. I mean, if if there's
a guy that he probably is in the coaching realm
of legendary, like Lou Holtz is a legend and and
he takes a shot at you, I think you would
be offended by it.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
I think that's not a shot, that's just facts.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
I think he i think he might have took it
as it was a shot, even if he was shooting
facts at him. I think he took it offensively. It
clearly was offended by it. I mean, I wouldn't say
it go as far as to say it was bizarre.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
I mean, he felt like.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
I've never seen it's react to a guy someone on
television who again, like day prior, it wasn't like it
was you know, it was like all this the comments
that he made, like he's a part of Like it
was like a it was a Notre Dame event, if
you will, when that show is going to be on
campus and they're like, what did he think he was
gonna say? He was gonna go in there and say
(30:35):
something like he's rid for the buck. Guys like come on, dude,
Like it's some of this is made for TV too.
It is, but you have to be understanding of that.
So it's just for that to be how you handle
a post game after a big win. That's what's surprising.
It really was.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Man, it's I think he's pushing a narrative which I
can't understand. Ohio State has been at top of the
Big Ten for a really, really long They haven't.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Though they haven't for the last actual two years. Yeah,
but cue they haven't won it the last two years.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
They've been at the top and Michigan and not even
really them. In Michigan, it's been Ohio State, Like that's
what it is.
Speaker 6 (31:14):
Well, Ohio State, Fien, It's so it's Ohio State, Michigan,
it was Penn State a year, Mischig.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
It's been Ohio State. It's been Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
And Ohio State may have not won it every year,
I get that, but they've been the team and and
so you can't act like it's us against the world
when when like I'm a Penn Stater.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Like everybody talks Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
If it's anybody, it should be anybody else other than
Ohio State saying it's us against the world.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
It's not Ohio State the world.
Speaker 6 (31:49):
Let me say this in that regard, because when you're
on the losing side of that, like I've had countless
people come up and say, man, like Phil for you guys,
We're rooting for you guys, And it's like there is
there does seem to be like a collective, Like man,
when when someone's playing Ohio State, there's people who just
want that team to beat Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Everybody wants Ohio State to lose. Every if you're not,
everybody wants them to.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
And being from Ohio, like that's where I think that
mentality comes from. Is like there's that like, hey, Ohio
against the world, Like no one wants us to win,
no one wants us to be here.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
Because they always are winning. They're always winning again, not
the past two years. That's like Saint Alabama's the top desk.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
They're not winning the championship, but they are always the
ones to beat. I just I just know this. It's
not Ohio against the world. It is not being from Ohio.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
There's definitely that mentality, and I can I can see why. So,
I mean, it was like that when the Calves were
making their run.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
You know.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
It's like that at times where you see, like you know,
other teams try to make a run. I mean even
back when the Guardians way back when like you get a.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Feel for that sometimes. Yeah, I have no sympathies for y'all,
you know, at all. I don't think it's y'all against
the world at all. Y'all could take it. Y'all got it.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
