Lats back, How was the trip pack from Paris?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
How we feeling?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It was a long trip.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
It was good though, Feeling good, feeling good, mission accomplished.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Excited for my wife.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
The US women's gymnastics team, obviously they went over there
with a mission, got their gold. Now they're over there
individually qualifying for the all around and all the other events.
So pretty surreal moment to be able to watch that group,
a bunch of young women who I've known a little
bit through my wife, and see them.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Accomplish their goals.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
It's so unique compared to other sports only because to
me those moments, like there's even that much more pressure
because you get one shot at the Olympics every four years,
and what they've been doing has been a build up
over that period of time. I mean, it's almost the
same routine that they do for four straight years. Like
(02:40):
there's little tweaks and adjustments here and there, but it's
almost the same exact thing. And so it's can you
do it in that moment well enough to be able
to be one of the greatest of all time in
the world. It's pretty cool to be able to see
that entire process. Even the arena. The arena was lit,
like Lady Gaga was there. There was all sorts of
(03:01):
people right saw Jason Kelsey and his wife kind of
mozing around and all that. It was a lot of
influencers too, you know a lot of influencers out there.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
It's a big stage. Everybody's got to be a part
of it.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
While I could barely fit in my seat, I started
cramping up at one point. That may have been, you know,
not due to a couple lead a lab road sodas Hey,
it was it was. It was quite the fun witnessing
all that.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
You know, It's like because I thought about this, So
you spend four years working for this one moment and
if you like don't have enough chalk on your hand,
a slip and it's over right, like you literally by
the margin is so small for air in these moments
(03:44):
that you've been preparing four years for.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
And like we know what.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
NFL training camps are like and all that, just because
of the coverage.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
But I've always wondered how hard is.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
The work just leading up to that because some of
the stuff they do, I have no I don't even
know how, like how they're able to keep any sort
of balance at all, let alone on you know, sawhorses
or whatever they're they're climbing up on and the rings
and the floor routine. It's for sure, Yeah, I mean listen, yeah,
I just I don't get how they're able to pull
(04:16):
that off. And the fact that they build and build
and build and build, and you're dependent on so much
around you and and the margin mary being so small
that your hopes and dreams are just depending on little
things or else you're just going to have to live
with it for four years or forever if it doesn't
work out that way.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
For you, right, well, I mean that that's honestly, like
I was watching the travel on a one point and there's,
you know, two guys coming down the stretch and they
were both running for third place.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
And there's the.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
One guy you could see as he came across the
line and it looked like he did it not as
well as he could have done in that moment, yet
he's not gonna be on that podium and that might
be his only shot, and so you kind of you
can see the disappointment. You can see like the the
tiers and the frustration. But to your point, I mean,
I think the other thing about gymnastics and this is
you know, I'm it's not a topic we talk about
a lot on the show, but the training is difficult
(05:05):
for it because you're constantly training around not injuring yourself.
You know, they have these foam pits where you literally
bound a floor routine or a vault or whatever it
is into foam pits because the landings are so tough
on your body. So part of it's just a battle
to get there. I mean, it's probably not a secret anymore,
(05:26):
but like Simone was dealing with a calf injury. She
was dealing with Sonissa Lee was dealing with that kind
of ankle calf injury. Like I could tell when they
warmed up on floor, like go, no, she's limping a
little bit, so you know all that stuff, or even
like like Sunny when she was doing the bars and
as they get going, because that was I believe their
first event, she fell, and just the mental toughness to
(05:50):
be able to be like, Okay, that's not going to
happen again when I do this ridiculously difficult routine. And
sure enough when she went out there, she usually was awesome.
It was almost flawless as far as how she good.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
She was the last thing.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I'll just stay on the subject because I know there's
a lot of people out there that.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Don' want to listen to this.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
All tough balls with Simone Biles should be considered one
of the greatest.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Athletes of all time.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Yes, Like what she has done in an eight year
period from the twenty sixteen Olympics to the twenty twenty
four Olympics. Between World Championships and Olympics, she has thirty
eight medals right now. Thirty eight Like that is it's
unheard of. It's I mean, and the only reason I
say this is because my wife had the most international
(06:34):
medals so Olympics and World Championships before Simone came along,
and in literally a four year span, she wiped that out.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
And she is the she is by far and away.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
When you think about the success she's had in the Olympics,
World Championships, she has multiple things. When you watch her,
the next couple of days that she performs, she should
be performing today.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
For the all around, there's stuff named after her.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
That's how difficult it is that no one else has
been able to do it, or no one else has
been able to do it and land it. So it's
pretty incredible to see the success that she has had.
But also at times I'm like, man, whatever other female
athlete you want to put their accolades up against, like,
she's got it, She's there.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
I don't care if it's you know, Serena.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
We talk about her dominance in tennis, Katie Ledecki and swimming.
Right now, who's been phenomenal Simo it, Michael Jordan. I mean,
she is up there amongst the greatest of athletes of
all time.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
And that's how good she is.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
And that's how good you know the team USA has
been since she's been a part of it, Like she
just could completely.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Change the way a meet goes like that.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
And their margin victor is over five and a half points,
almost six points, and they are the oldest team to
ever do it in a large part because of her success,
her ability to be able to kind of lead the
team but also be that like kind of figure that
no matter what happened out there, Jordan Chiles fell, she
was fine, Like she's gonna come through and perform and
do what she needs to do.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Oldest team, she's twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
It's the oldest teams on average ever for the United
States Women's gymnastics.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
So pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I think I was still a bus boy at that point.
So well, good for her. She's she's the greatest of
all time. By the way, where does your wife keep
the medals?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Like, I mean, I.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Think she thought she lost it at one point, which
was interesting. She wasn't overly panicked and I'm like, it's
not like you can get another one. She's like no,
I know. She's like, it's it's somewhere. It could be
in my class and Boston or something.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
But you know, you know the guy you described to
finished fourth, it's not going to be on the podium
and he's crying. There's somebody somewhere who she beat out
that would have done anything for just one and she's
got hers like uh and like with the the the
Lincoln logs that the kids played with somewhere lost.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I mean, I'm not even lying on.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
One of our daughters had one of her world medals
as part of her like dress up for whatever she was.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
It was like in a side closet with a bunch
of dresses.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
That they were put on to go play whatever princess
deal they're playing. And you would have it somewhere stored
in one of those jewelry boxes, and everyone thought it
was like fake, Like no, that's the World Championship medal.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
By the way, you're It's going to be sweet when
calv for like you know, like hey, bring something from
home for kindergarten and he brings like your Johnny Uniteds
Golden Arm trophy over into the classroom like props out there.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
That's gonna be sweet.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
So how was the travel back any issues or whatever.
This show's got a bad reputation as far as travel concerned.
So any problems, any issues whatsoever?
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Any no, I.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Mean just just your typical shan against you know, obviously
the flights are laid for various reasons. We got a
few people who are trying to get a better seat
than they actually had, like they're it's funny like when
there's language various involved, people all of a sudden get
really confused about how to how to find common ground.
Oh yeah, and they're like angling or trying to work
(09:55):
their way into a seat that they did not purchasers,
not theirs, but they but they will use the langu
which barrier to basically say, that's the miscommunication I'm supposed
to be Oh yes, no, your ticket says.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
And by the way, a tip of the cap to
Sammy sosa who started that trend back when they were
asking him about peds when he was on the gas
he just said, oh, you know, my English isn't great.
Like hold on a second, like, dude, we've been hearing
you in interviews for years, like you've been over here
for a year, and now all of a sudden, your
English isn't great. He started that trend. That's Samy Sosu
who did that. You probably didn't even think about that,
(10:27):
did you see?
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I didn't, mostly because he's had other things going on
in his life and that a bit more preoccupied by so.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Like, what's that, Yeah, you know, you know, just rolling
around doing a snow angels and baby powder and.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Just leave it on.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Just been living an antarcticast.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
A couple of observations though, Like the Olympics in France
on TV.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Are very different than that in the US. And here's
an example.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
You only will watch French athletes, like they do not
put any thing on TV in France that's not a
French athlete really, Yes, So when.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
We're trying to watch stuff, sometimes you watch a little more.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Obscure sports or sports at the French excel in Like
I was watching a lot of fencing, which have a
lot more respect for fencing. Obviously I had Notre Dame.
They've actually had an amazing of fencing team. A couple
loves one gold medals.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Who buy doesn't know that, by the way, I mean,
come on, I'm not sure.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Most people probably don't.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
But the point is is like it was actually highly entertaining,
Like these people are agile, they're flexible, I mean, they
were doing the splits and like whacking people in the ankles.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
It was crazy.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
But as soon as I got back to the States,
you noticed, like even at the bars, like there's France
versus Germany was excuse me, Spain versus Germany was on
and like some event, and I'm like, that's interesting, Like we.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Are a culture, we are a country of sports.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
In Paris, a lot of the Parisians get the hell
out of there, like they're not around it. It was
very touristy. It was not but you what I've normally
experienced being in Paris. And some of that's the summertime
because they'll kind of get out of town and go
summer somewhere else. But some of them was the Olympics.
They just as much as they do have maybe respect
for it, there's a lot of them who like don't
really care and they are out of there. It's completely
(12:15):
different than the college in the United States.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Well, we're happy to have you back, and shout out
to the US men's basketball team just right being South.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Sudan, right yeah, you know, yeah, now they covered right
of that big way.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Oh yeah, plus well being you're talking about South Sudan
or the US because South Sudan definitely covered.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Plus twenty eight and a half was the number for them,
and they were able to keep it within the number.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
So now, if I was to ask you who you
had money on in.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
That game, South Sudan, there you go.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
So you won, you actually won one.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Yeah, come on, look what we do? Come on?
Speaker 3 (12:49):
All right?
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, I mean let's speak like, oh, that's not patriotic. Well,
neither's going broke, okay, Like, so I'm trying to I'm
trying to pay bills here, all right. My kids got
a monster truck fetish. I got to look after so
we got to make stuff work here and have I
got to take southsu Dan plus twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I'm gonna take it. Sorry, not my problem. By the way,
we are.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Efforting LeVar Arrington some technical difficulties here this morning, so
he will be joining us here on the show.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
We can promise you that, well I don't want to
promise you that.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Take that out of the podcast, Lee, because based on
some of the early feedback, maybe not. But nonetheless, we
will be taking you all the way up until nine
am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific. So we do have
the usuals. We've got another edition of in case you
missed it. We're also going to hear from Albert Breer.
He's going to stop by. He's in the midst of
his training camp tour. We're also going to have another
(13:37):
edition of You An You Out. It's all yours here
on this three hour extravaganza from the ti raq dot
com studios. But coming up next here though, it's finally back,
and don't let anybody steer you in one direction or
the other. It's finally back. We will tell you why
it applies to you and your Thursday night.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
That's next here on FSR.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Oh with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific

Speaker 6 (14:12):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.
We talked to coaches, we talked to players, We tell
you stories. You download it, you listen to it.

I think you'll like it.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
What happened right now?
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Oh, I'm just saying, this has to be some emotional musical.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Playing right now.
Speaker 7 (14:49):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
I was gonna do sexy Back, but I thought that
was too sexy for this hour.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
This is about what's that supposed to be.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I don't know, maybe it was too early. This is
a this better than sexy Back.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Yes it is.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
I will always give Justin Timberlake's props for this song,
this music video based on what happened. It's not very
often you find out a significant other's cheating on you
and then you make a music video with their doppelgamer
and throw it back in their face.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
That, I can't even say that on the air.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
I would say this. I think I think he was
better off for all of it.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
I was gonna ask if you sampled the goods, you know,
but you know sampled the goods. I'm just saying, you know,
you know, what.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Are you saying obviously he was with her? Well?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
No, I'm saying, you know, the the stunt double you know.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Oh, I'm just asking questions I think that's the question
everybody wanted to know, since we're on the topic to
be truthful. I okay, thanks Rena.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Why wouldn't he.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Now?
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Was he was? Have been a better better way to
describe it.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Of a stake by the way, oh babe, sorry, just
you know, it looks just like you.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
I thought it was you. Yeah, I've used that before.
It doesn't work.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
But nonetheless, do you think he was listening to that
when he got pulled over for for that deuce a.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Couple of months ago or no, which, by the way,
did you hear that? And I thought I saw this?
Speaker 1 (16:18):
So Justin Timberlake gets gets a dui in the Hamptons,
you know, which is.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Very to do. Who drivesmps.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
I've never been.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
I've only heard stories about it, so I can't even
imagine what it's like over this seems like a different planet.
But he gets his he gets a d uy in
the Hamptons. And then there was a report that came
out earlier this week that said, whoever he was with drinking,
the police let that person drive his car home. And
(16:51):
I'm thought, okay, so that's clearly from Justin Timberlake side
letting him know like this is how reckless that police
department is. They let somebody else who had had too
many throat burners also get behind the wheel and drive home.
So the whole thing's very, very strange. But you know,
in the old words of Brady Quinn, who cares, and
we transition smoothly over to this.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
If you want to.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Know whether or not there's there's something, I'll put it
this way. I have asked LeVar and Brady to partake
in something. They both denied it immediately. What we talk
about in about twenty minutes from now might change their minds.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
It might change their minds. It's football related.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
We'll get into that for you again twenty minutes from
now from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Football's back man.
The NFL is back. We got the Hall of Fame
game later on tonight. Okay, tell me you aren't excited
about the Hall of Fame game.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
I'm not why it will be fun to see a
little football on I mean, what do you mean why?
I mean we don't get to see Caleb Williams. That's
one of the biggest issues with a that's a cut
down preseason anyway. We still't get to see them, So
I understand it. It's it's probably not worth the risk,
but there's ways around that. I mean, I can't tell
(18:07):
you how many years if I was a starter. If
there was a starter, like you'd go in, you hand
the football off two times, maybe throw a pass, or
you hand it off three times and then punt. If
you don't get the first out, you just you run
the football like That's how it is. But nowadays, rosters
they're too vulnerable. You know, some rosters are not building
(18:28):
the type of depth where you can afford an injury
to anyone and be able to get away with it.
So I just I'm not as excited as I used
to be, I'll put.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
It that way.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
So apparently a starting quarterback has not started in the
game since Teddy Bridgewater back in twenty fifteen, and I
guess like some of the reasoning behind that is, well,
you know, there's just not enough practices leading up into
that point, so why risk sending anybody out there? Like okay,
well then why'd you show up early? Like it wasn't
(18:57):
that the whole point? Like, you've got a Hall of
Fame games, so they report early and get some work in.
It just almost feels like, well, everybody else has done it,
so we'll just follow along the same lines, like no
starters are playing for the Bears, and I don't believe
for the Texans either, so you're just going to kind
of get this makeshift Hall of Fame game, in which
(19:18):
that's kind of what we got. Although I will say
this for those of you that are interested in gambling
on the Hall of Fame game, no judgment here. The
Bears are a one and a half point favorite courtesy
of our friends at DraftKings. So I don't know what
you do with that, but that is the That is
the report off DraftKings. The Bears are a point and
a half favorite. We are going to get to see
(19:38):
Tyson Bagent, right. Tyson Bagent, who was already jacked last year,
got more jacked in the offseason. He spoke with the
media a couple of days ago and said they asked him,
you know, did it feel better knowing they weren't going
to bring in any sort of veteran quarterback for the
(20:00):
backup role and you weren't gonna have to compete with
a veteran And your response.
Speaker 8 (20:04):
You know, I didn't really think too much about it.
I was too busy grinding my absolute face off in
the offseason. But whatever they were going to do, you know,
that's completely up to them. I can't control that. The
grinding your face off that you did one mile. Burbie
broad jump hour and seven minutes. Let's go, Burbie broad jump.
(20:28):
Burbie broad jump one mile.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
I don't know. I ate a lot after that.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
I went to Betty's shout out to Sheppard Sound, West Virginia,
to Betty's restaurant. I think I just got six eggs
and bacon, put some toasts. I might not be getting
better necessarily at football when I'm doing a workout like that, However,
just the mental edge that it gives me finding out,
you know, what I can endure versus what the next
man can endure, in a sense, gives me a little
(20:58):
mental edge. When I show up to things like this
and people start complaining about our schedule, I can kind
of have somewhere in the back of my head that
I've done things far worse than this.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Yes something, I mean, Look, I do love this guy.
I loved them last year. I toy He's gonna be
your backup.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
And the only reason weally are talking about that is
because we're both mead heads. But you just heard right there, Okay,
because this is bad. This goes back to even when
I played people. Oh you're It's like, no, man, there
is a there's a mental workout you put yourself through
when you do something that's incredibly difficult, and when you
do that, you do feel like, all right, I am
(21:36):
more mentally prepared. I'm more physically prepared for anything that's
thrown my way compared to my opponents. And that's why
you see guys do stuff that's not always sports specific.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
It doesn't always make sense to you.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
It makes sense to them because they feel like they're
better than you. They feel like if they've got to
compete against you, they've done something ridiculously hard that's gonna
be harder than anything you've done in your life, and
that gives them a mental edge over you when things
get tough.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
That is what that is all about. I love it.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
I just love the idea that nowadays that everything's so specialized.
It's like, hey, so, which quarterback coach are you working
with in the off season? He's like, off season, what
are you talking about? I'm going back to West Virginia
and I'm gonna do one mile burpie broad jumps and
just just meat headed out, like I don't even know
if he threw a ball all off season, but he's
(22:24):
just and by the way, he was much better than
I think a lot of people real They were two
and two with him as a starter last year, like
he did, like he earned the right to be their
backup quarterback. And so to see a meat head getting
a little bit of love and gonna get to take
center stage in Ohio later on, that's what we need,
like we need.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
I'll enjoy watching like football again.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
It's just it's a little disappointed we don't get to
see the version of what this team will be if
it was the regular season. Caleb Williams, CJ. Stroud, what
that looks like. I mean, that could have been potentially
if you really want to get to it, you know,
I mean, I guess you know, neither ended up getting
to the playoff, but it could have been a matchup
between those two.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
And I think those two have.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Somewhat of a history going through uh some of the
years as quarterbacks, you know, coming out and and all
that through through high school and everything else. But to
your point, I mean, he played solid enough to give
himself a shot at being the guy.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
But you know, because they've got.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Caleb Williams, they're not going to be looking at I mean,
maybe they'd look and say, hey, we want to bring
in a veteran guy, but why not have a young
guy you feel really good about in the locker room,
a young guy who doesn't have a track record where
he's gonna come in and immediately challenge whoever the starter
is and that that's that's a part of it. And
there's a lot of people who hear that and go, well,
that shouldn't be the case, Like, why we watching Caleb
(23:47):
Williams not have to earn it? Watching Caleb Williams not
have to go compete against a veteran guy who's been
proven in this league. Well, there's there's truth to that,
and some organizations feel like you should. Players don't care
if you're competing. You're competing, it doesn't matter who you're
competing against. But there is an element of when you
get into the quarterback room and everyone's been placed for
(24:11):
what the role is during the season, sometimes the veteran
guys have a harder time fitting in a little bit,
you know, Tyson baging.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
It might be a little bit easier.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Given how he got into the league, where you can
hear his attitude like he doesn't care. Let's give the
football game of a chance as opportunity once he gets in.
But if it's not gonna be his chance to get,
you know, to start off, all right, I'll be the
backup guy.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
I'll keep you know, preparing myself waiting, waiting, waiting.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
So I think if you look at the Bears heading
end of this year, you know, if you were concerned
about them not having a more veteran guy behind Caleb Williams,
if killb william get hurt because he is more mobile
and he is a rookie, I think they're okay. I
think Tyson can go in and do a good job
for him.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
And also for everybody that wants to dismiss the preseason
and say there's no value, it's a waste of time,
he's exhibit a as to why there's still value because
that's where he got noticed last year and that's why
he was able to get the job and get an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
To where they who is the guy who is the
quarterback they traded away? Oh God, PJ.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yander yeah, they like they parted ways with him because
of what they saw on Tyson Bagent, because of how
well he played in the preseason. So like this idea that, well,
you just get rid of it, and look, we're gonna
hear from from Aaron Rodgers and whatnot to talk about that,
that back and forth with Robert Salah. But this is
why I know we're going to expand I know we're
(25:30):
going to lose games. You've talked about it. We're gonna
get to twenty games in the regular season. They're just
going to wipe out the preseason altogether. It's why I
still enjoy it because there are situations like this where look, dude, like, yeah,
there's thirty two starting quarterbacks in the NFL. On planet Earth.
There's only thirty two number twos. He's one of them.
And so the idea that he got an opportunity, undrafted
(25:53):
guy who had no choice and no say in the
matter as to whether or not he was going to
be a meathead. His dad was an arm wrestling champion.
His path was already carved out. You're going to be
a meathead? What else you got? Okay, I'll just go
play quarterback. Play it well, in the preseason and get
an opportunity the following year to backup Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Good for much you love?
Speaker 4 (26:12):
How much do you love the fact that his dad
was a former champion in arm wrestling?
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Man, Like, it's just it's also the fact that you
see some of those videos that come out where guys
will snap their arm arm wrestling because it's so bad
for you, like the torque put on your arm, your joints.
You're like, it's it's so awful for you. And that
guy walked straight into the burning building so to speak
(26:38):
every single time and said, I'm willing to do damage
to a limb because I got to go make ends meet.
And he did it, and he raised a son that's
doing one mile broad jump burpies.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
That's awesome in the off seasons. Awesome.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Hey, can I give you a little tidbit or fact
that you probably don't know about?
Speaker 2 (26:55):
That's that?
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
One of the people who people should be excited about
is bear fans to watch tonight is Tory Taylor, the punter.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Oh yeah, embarrass that's right.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
You will not see better punting or not be more
excited about a debut of a player A rookie that
punts than Tory Taylor. He is calling the punt God.
Whatever you want. He is fantastic. But what you probably
don't know is he came up through the international player pathway.
So technically there's an exemption for these international players who
(27:27):
make it onto an NFL roster that started about like
seven years ago, and they could carry an extra guy
into training camp.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
So not only is Tory Taylor a hell.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
Of a punter and going to entertain you tonight for
you Bears fans out there, and for that ninety first
player that's now getting a chance to be in preseason
to get some tape out there to be on the roster,
they also are provided there's someone else's provided an opportunity
because Tory Taylor came from somewhere outside of the US,
which is pretty cool when.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
You hell you up.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
And also the fact that I kind of gloss over
that because we were so used to not wanting to
bring up anybody from Iowa because Iowa Sam had polluted
the show with Iowa content. Now that he's not here
because he's a sellout and a candy ass who will
not be mentioned to ever aget on this show, and
we are Team RAINA through and through.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Now we can talk about great Iowa players. So this
is a win win for everybody here.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Can we get to Lee with some breaking news and
an update right now on the whereabouts or what is
happening behind the scenes in our attempts to get what
lefar Arrington?
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Lee? Lee?
Speaker 2 (28:31):
What do we got?
Speaker 3 (28:34):
We have teams of people.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
You guys got to see.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Breaking news from Fox Sports. Can I leave it at this, Lee?
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yes, go forward.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
I have had technical difficulties, all right, Kiris has never
once woken up.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
I've needed help to get on air, just saying, just say, curious.
Speaker 9 (28:59):
Is it's working hard right now? A lot of people
in three different states?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
It's do but we can It's three thirty seven, you know.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
In his defense, you know it's not the only people
that will come hang out with us here at three
thirty seven that aren't on the show are Burdo once
in like a year and a half, and then.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I don't know, maybe cockroaches.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, the cockroaches too. I mean they're always dependable. So listen,
we are efforting. We will keep you up to speed
as to whether or not LeVar will be a part
of this show today. Major technical difficulties. We do know
this though, Liz l in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, congrats our

He's Eddie Garcia. No chance, damn come on, Eddie.
Speaker 10 (30:42):
Not one second of it.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Way really no interest.
Speaker 10 (30:45):
What's the way Kill Williams would have played? I would
have tuned in, but he's not, so I'd.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Say Killer Williams are Catwilliams.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Williams Cat Williams would be fun though.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
I was gonna say he'd be fun and funny.
Speaker 10 (30:58):
Yeah, I'll all let Joe to watch Tyson paging for me,
give me a full report tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
He's so excited for his bear Eddie.
Speaker 10 (31:06):
No, he doesn't claim though. I don't know if he
was excited about it at least you see Romo.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Doing play a little probably no, well yeah maybe yeah.
They're saying no starters. I don't know if he's on
the startup second, like.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Has he does he gotten there yet as he could sit.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
I'm more of a Rob Low guy to where I'm
wearing just an NFL emblem at a game on my hat.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
That's that's my approach.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
I always think that's just Rob Polink in the stands.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
I do I mean, he looks just like Rob Polinka.
I'm like, why is Rob Polinka at an NFL game?
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Well, the giveaway, the giveaways that Rich Paul isn't right
next to him making sure that he's doing everything he
asked him to do.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
So that's that's a good point.
Speaker 10 (31:43):
Sorry, that is not It's okay.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
That is a guy that just does not age. Rob Low.
Speaker 10 (31:47):
I mean, I'm sure he's got I'm sure he's enhanced
and all that, but.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
You know, hey, he gave up the booze years ago.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 2 (31:55):
You're screwedly? Yeah, totally that he is always a quitter. Anyways, Well, let's.
Speaker 10 (32:02):
Check in at the Olympics in Paris, where the men's
basketball team now two and oh after handling South Sudan
one O three to eighty six. Six different players in
double digits for the US, led by ben Atebayo's eighteen
points off the bench. Jason Tatum did start this one
after sitting out to the opener, finished with four points
and five rebounds. Joel and b did not play in
this second game for the US women's soccer team. For
(32:22):
the US now three and oh after beating Australia two
to one, and US swimmer Katie Ledecki won her eighth
career Olympic gold medal twelfth medal overall by taking the
fifteen hundred meter freestyle. She's now tied for the most
medals ever by a female swimmer, and she's got some
more events to come, so likely going to break that
record while in Paris. As far as the total medal count,
US leads all nations with thirty five gold, thirteen silver,
(32:43):
and twelve bronze. In baseball games of note, you had
the Yankees wrapping up a sweep of the NL East,
leading Phillies six to five to the final. DJ Lemayhew
driving in all six runs for New York with a
Grand Slam homer in the Nicks as well as New
York's now won five in a row, but there's still
a half game back of Baltimore for first in the
AL East because the Orioles beat the Blue Jays ten
to four. Baltimore's Jackson Holiday first career home run a
(33:05):
Grand Slam. Astros beat the Pirates five to four, while
the Mariners lost to the Red Sox three to two
and ten innings. Raphael Devers RBI double wins it for
Boston to Houston now back into a Tiwa Seattle for
the top spot on the AL West. Braves knockoff the
NL Central leading Brewers six to two. Atlanta's Matt Olsen
and Travis Darnau hitting back to back homers twice in
this game. Padreys wrap up a mini two game sweep
(33:27):
of their set against the NL West sitting Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Eight won the final.
Speaker 10 (33:31):
Clayton Kershaw allowed seven runs three earned six hits in
three and two thirds innings of work, and It's record
streak of four hundred and twenty three regular season starts
with at least one strikeout came to an end. San Diego,
now four and a half back of LA in the Division,
Twins beat the Mets eight to three in a battle
of wildcard teams. Speaking of the wildcard races in the
(33:51):
American leagueyear three wildcard teams Yankees, Twins, and Royals, who
beat the White Sox ten to three. That's seventeenth straight
losses for Chicago and can't with a two game lead
on Boston for the last wildcard spot. In the AL.
Nationally wildcard race three teams are the Braves, Podres and
now Diamondbacks, who beat the Nationals five four and passed
the Mets for the last wildcard spot in the NL.
(34:12):
New York now a half game back of Arizona. Now
back to Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox, the Tyrack dot Com
Fox Sports Radio Studios.

minutes from now before we get to another edition of

Sometimes you can't get to everything in the world of
sports or entertainment. Good thing, the guys are here to
bring you in case you missed it.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
For that, we turn it over to our executive producerly.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Lap.
Speaker 9 (35:36):
Good morning everybody. Good morning Jonas, Good morning Brady, Good
morning far I know you're out there, guys.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
In case you missed this, l.
Speaker 9 (35:48):
Thank you forar Hey, guys, In case you missed this,
Bill Belichick has got yet another job coming up this
upcoming season. On top of joining the Pat macafe Show
once a week and The Manning Cast once a week
with Peyton and Elai and Inside the NFL alongside Ryan Clark,
Chad Johnson, and Chris Long, he is now co producing
and creating a show called Hey Brady. He's co producing
(36:09):
and creating a show called Coach on Underdog Fantasy, where
he'll be breaking down film and taking fans through the
process as if you were coaching the team himself.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Look at Belichick dipping his toe into the water fantasy
fantasy football.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Come on, Brady, join the dark side. Give it just
to spin one day.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
I don't get this.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
I mean, maybe he's just trying to learn the production
side behind the scenes, because I think that's what I
read from that article that stood out.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
But I don't. I don't know, man. They must be
paying him a ton of money to be doing this.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Finally, he's got four jobs. Good for him.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Yeah, he's basically Ryan Seacrest now, like he's got four jobs.
Probably way do you know Seacrest is doing Wheel of
Fortune too, of course, really, he's got every other gig
he's doing.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Wheel to do. Man, he does a fantastic job with
everything he does.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Yea works his ass off credit da man.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
So now I can't Why won't you do that?
Speaker 2 (37:04):
I don't know. I just like to mail it in,
not really work at the guy personally. Do you? Uh?
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Does this make you want to be a part of
fantasy football if you know, just for one year, one season?
Speaker 3 (37:19):
No? No, I don't. I don't have time for man,
I just I just don't. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
I know it's a big thing. I know it's helped
grow the sport and making what it is today. I
personally can't get into it. I think I think it
would be cool, like I do at times sit and
think like, man, it's gotta be a lot of fun
for these these folks, right they're putting together the ross
the team. They feel like a general manager. You know,
there's some obviously some big time bets on the line.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Because if you see some of these people who lose their.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
Fantasy life, yeah, I mean, the stuff they have to
go through is ridiculous. So that's the other part of
it is, if I'm going to be involved, I'd like
to be able to do something where I'm like, all right,
i feel like I've put a lot of effort into this,
you know, whereas it in stead, if I'm just mailing
it in, then I finished laught last time to do
something humiliating, I don't want any part of that.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Well, it's also as competitive as you are. If you
did it once, it would consume you. And but here's
the best part about it though. The only really time
consuming part of it is the actual draft where you're
drafting players, because other than that, once you have your roster,
maybe you'll make a trade or two. Maybe you'll you know,
(38:26):
sign a guy off the waiver wire. But it's pretty
easy to just go in, set your lineup and give
it a spin.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Lee.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
How many fantasy leagues are you in this year? At
least four? I'm always in at least four.
Speaker 9 (38:39):
I hope to whittle out one of them, but I'm
pretty solid in four.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
I'm in one and that's enough. Like, I don't know,
I don't know what you're in four leagues? Jesus? What
else we got? Lee, Guys?
Speaker 9 (38:49):
In case you missed this, Simone Biles in Hesley Rivera,
we're asked about the food at the Olympic village. Go
ahead and take a listen. After all the controversy, what
they had to say, what.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
Do you eat the Olympic village and do you like
French food? Like in the village it's not proper French
cuisine like you guys might be eating because you.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Guys are outside the village.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
So for the athletes a little bit, it's a little
bit more healthier. I don't think it's very good at
least what we're having in the dining hall. I definitely
think French food is good, but what we're having in there,
I don't think is the best, but it gets the
job done.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
So so the athletes are just fed like rubbish, like
they just get garbage.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
I don't know. I've never been in the Olympic village.
You'd have to have someone who has discussed that. I
do know that the food for.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
A lot of the athletes and all that is and
not the prime food you're really talking about.
Speaker 9 (39:44):
They're trying to give them a lot of plant based food,
but the athletes are saying, no, we need the actual protein.
But apparently there's a shortage of chicken and eggs over there.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Again, you got to stop reading some of the stuff.
Why at least not sourced correctly this.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
I mean, it's a it's a matter of funding too.
It's not just that it's like I had every single
chicken every single day. There's it's a matter of funding with.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Some of the sports, you.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Know, Lee, that's like.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
Saying the city of Paris isn't gonna have enough food
for all the people coming in.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
For the Olympics. It's just it's just dumb. It's just dumb.
It's no truth to that.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
I'm sorry, Brady Lee.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
Lee.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
You know I'm gonna defend you.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
There's forty thousand athletes. Yeah, there's also like five hundred
thousand people coming in
