to get to today. Olympic updates. Talk a little Caleb Williams,
Joe Milton, who I guess we're gonna continue to learn
his name. I guess he gonna he wants everybody to
know about his name, and we'll talk about Joe Milton
as well. But First, let's talk about how we're in

Are you excited to be up so early and do
some some awesome strong sports talk radio?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
How you feeling sirved?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Buddy, I'm always happy to talk to you. Yeah, up
and up for a while. I've been excited for the show. Then,
you know, you get that point in life where you
don't want to miss your alarm, Like, you know what.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I'll just I'll just wake up, just stay awake, right.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Just just stayed awake thinking about what what what? You know,
what we're talking about today, what we're doing today. I
was looking forward because I'm a sicko to watch replays
of the two NFL preseason games last night, just kind
of just to just see what catches my eye. Man.
I am in a football mood. I'm Olympics mood. Man.
It's a lot of fun right now, a lot to
talk about it.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I love to hear that, Jeff. So let's start off
with a little bit of the Olympics. Obviously, Sidney mcloughton
uh lev Roan. She won gold in the four hundred
meter hurdles. She did a great job, set her own
world record, uh well breaking her own world record to

(02:47):
win it.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
That was amazing.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Our volleyball team they want a thrilling, thrilling match. I
was watching that they were going up against Brazil, uh
five sets. They advanced to the gold medal round. So
shots out to them as well.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
But we had two interesting uh competitions.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
That was, I guess kind of worth worth talking a
little bit more about American sprinter No allows we know
about him obviously one of the top bright sprinters that
that America, the USA has to offer one the one
hundred meters. Some people would call it a tad bit controversial,
but nonetheless he pulled it out. But he wasn't a pause,

(03:33):
but he wasn't able to uh shake Covid. Covid got
a hold of him and he ends up well having
having the situation of not being able to run the
way he needed to run into two hundred meters and
won the bronze. I just you know, I guess we

(03:54):
could start there because obviously we're It didn't fear so
as badly for the basketball team. They rallied, but they
did get behind. And I do want to talk about that,
but let's start with no allows. He wasn't able to
do the two goals and the hundred and then the
two hundred. How you feel about that?

Speaker 4 (04:15):
I mean, obviously there were high expectations for him and
what he was able to do, and the one hundred
was incredible, laur I find the Olympics so fascinating for
the individual sports, right, not basketball or even volleyball to
some injury, but the individual sports where you train for
four years. Of course the cycle was three years, but

(04:36):
for four years you train, right, and you have obviously
trials and world championships, and it comes down to one
hundred meter dash for the final, right in the final,
and you'll win by five thousands of a second and
you win the gold medal. But the fortitude it takes,
I think to be able to train and prepare for

(04:59):
that moment than that, I don't know if I have
the patience for that in life, right, And so you
get to the two hundred, now you already have the
one hundred win at least, right, but you want to
win the two hundred. I believe he was the favorite
to win the two hundred.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
He was, I mean, that's his event is behind the
two hundred, and you.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Know you want to you want to continue to dominate
in that event. And he didn't get it done. Now
if you you can obviously COVID, not being able to
breathe properly, all those things matter in a race like that.
But I found it interesting afterwards, you know, to hear
the competitors. You know, when you are as you know,
when your personality is Noah Llyles right when you go

(05:36):
out and before the race, you are excited, you're into it,
You're showing passion, you're showing emotions. Some people might call
that cockiness, arrogance, confidence, like whatever you want to use
for that term. And and you lose more eyeballs go
to you, right and forever the reason why you lose.
And we saw the competitors take shots at him last
night after he lost. And that's that comes with the territory,

(05:58):
right when when you talk a big game and he
won in the one hundred, he backed it up there,
didn't back up in the two hundred for whatever reason,
no one. No one remembers sometimes the reasons why you lose, right,
they just remember you lost. And so I think this
will come you know, this will go down as him
being upset. I don't think people will remember, oh, he
had COVID. I think just say, hey, man, he didn't
win the two hundred.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Well. I thought it was a big moment for him.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
I thought it was courageous of him to go out
there and still try to run the race.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Obviously, I want to say I.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Never tested positive for COVID, Jeff, but I feel like
I kind of had symptoms before just hearing what people's
symptoms have been. Yeah, I feel like I've had it.
And all I know is how I felt when I
had those symptoms. For him to go out there and
run and he had the real thing. He did test

(06:53):
positive for it. And you're dealing with those body aches
and the change and the shift of your body temperature,
and it just to me, you feel so run down,
and to find yourself in a scenario where, like you said,
you've trained all this time and for all these years

(07:14):
for these few shining moments, like for seconds. Literally you're
training years for seconds and for COVID to strike at
that moment in time, I might push back a little
bit and say, you're right, probably a little while, a
long while after this ends, people won't necessarily remember that,

(07:39):
you know, he had COVID. But then I also will
say COVID was a worldwide deal. It did impact and
effect everyone. It wasn't just like it was limited to
a certain area of the world or certain parts of
the country. It did impact our entire world, and it
threatened and shut down our world as we know it

(08:01):
and has changed our world as we know it.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
And you know, to.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
See to see him, you know, come up short and
what he that is his That is his event, like
the one hundred is what he transitioned into and proved
that he could actually be one hundred meters runner. Two
hundred was that was his event. So it was all
what but a lock for him to get the two

(08:29):
gold medals and two of the most important events.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
I thought it was an interesting kind of storyline, twist,
a change for COVID to be maybe the reason why
he didn't win. But shots out and congrats to the
guys who did win and to the men's basketball team.
Before we get to the break. Obviously they were down
by seventeen points, Jeff, and it did not look good.

(08:53):
It looked like the Joker and Company Serbia would would
take this. I mean, it looked as though they were
going to win the game some way, somehow. They got
back into it. You saw some good defense. You saw
Joel Embiid get get into the into the game, Lebron
got got active, Steph Curry got got active, and they

(09:15):
rallied and they were able to win the game ninety
five ninety one. But I would say my question to
you would be, how how important is it for because
I think that they're they're measure that on a different level,
of different standard than anybody else out there. How important
is it for them not to lose? How important is

(09:36):
it for them to win the gold?

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Oh? I think it's hugely important. I mean, look, when
you are down seventeen points in a game like that
and you're able to put in Kevin Durant, Lebron James,
and Steph Curry for the higher quarter, right, and obviously
Embiid was in there and Booker for the most part
in the fourth quarter. You can't lose, LeVar, you can't
lose that that. I mean, I my son was watching

(10:01):
with me and I was, you know, he's like, who's
the best part in the NBA. It's like, well, it's like, actually,
guy in Serbia right now, But I go, then we
have you know, then on our side, we have like
three of the top seven players ever playing right now
in that small history, and so you can't lose a
game like that where you know, Serbia is good, but
they don't have the pros we have. They don't have

(10:22):
the players that that that the team USA hasn't finally occur.
Just said screw it, We're putting out our five best
and let him play the fourth quarter. And you know,
this is Steph Curry game right, thirty six points. He
has ability to keep him in the game early and
then his ability to close the game late. Lebron we saw,
I mean, what he can do it. His age of
ours is incredible.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Man.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
He picks and chooses moments you offensively, but defensively. He
was guarding. He was guarding Jokic in the second and
in the fourth quarter was him by himself. Man, he was.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
It's incredible.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
He was and Jokic was was doing his thing as well. Obviously,
they they seem to be in proper position to win
the game. I just just looking at the game, and
I did watch. I did watch the last the second
half of the game, and they didn't panic. It was
interesting because you watch NBA playoffs sometimes and it's like, man,

(11:17):
they're down by so many points. It could be like
twenty points that they're down by going into the half,
and for a moment.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
There you're like, are they going to panic?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
And it didn't seem like there was real panic in
the faces of our US Olympians that were playing in
the game. They seemed to kind of walk it down.
They kind of tightened up their defense a little bit.
You saw them making plays on the offensive end of
the court, and it was just kind of in my mind,

(11:47):
I was like, man, it's crazy to think that this
is the one competition in the Olympics where you look
at it and you say, how bad is the fallout
if a team upsets the US team in basketball? And
I thought it was pretty I think it would be

(12:08):
a significant blow because you're looking at what's happened in
the NBA draft, right you have euro players who are
pretty much dominating being being in the top slots of
the draft, and and and the last last couple drafts.
So it could have set into motion a different UH

(12:29):
storyline as it applies to what where does the supremacy
of basketball?

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Where does it lie? If you see, like you mentioned,
some of the.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Greatest players ever assembled to come together and play actually
lose a game against against a different country. So I thought,
I think they're playing for a lot more than just
you know, getting a gold medal. It's it's seemingly they're
playing for almost the reputation of what American basketball players,

(13:04):
you know, what they represent in sport.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
And dude, absolutely, this is one of the gold medals
that matters to our country, right is basketball. And I look,
I'm a Lebron guy. I'm a Lakers fan anyways, but
I've always liked Lebron. I mean, I think that you know,
what he was able to do in this game, what
Stuff was able to do in this game, what Durant

(13:27):
was able to do. It was nice to see that
the team come together in the fourth quarter. The defensive
intensity picked up incredibly. Now I'm not saying that that
they have to play and at their age, Lebron KTI said,
they're probably not playing defense for that for four quarters, LeVar,
you know, but in the fourth quarter, that's what we saw.
Our players play at a level that the other world

(13:50):
cannot match. It's why we are the favorites to win,
it's why we're going to beat France in the final.
But that intensity, and that's the frustrating part about the
first three quarters, right, It's like you didn't see that,
But I understand why those guys didn't play that way?
Now what about everyone else? Where was their defensive intensity?
Where was there switching a bunch of open threes for Serbia?

(14:14):
But when it came down to it, our best players
came through in the end. And there's that. There's that photos,
a couple of photos from that game, Steph shooting at
three with with Bams in the background and Ant and Durant,
and then the photo of Lebron and stuff after the game,
really when the game was sort of sealed at the end,
kind of screaming at each other. Look. I love to
see the pride those players had in that moment. And

(14:35):
it was great, man, it was at fourth quarter was
so much fun to watch. Once you felt that sort
of momentum kind of shift over, I think you could
feel like sort of, it was the US's game to win.
And then some of the wild shots Serbia hit the
first three quarters they were hitting anymore, and look, we
gotta we got a fun, little fun out of Wemby
against Team USA. Man, it's gonna be fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Well, hopefully it was a wake up call for the
US men's basketball team. We don't need them to rally
in the gold medal round. But I'll tell you this.
We were talking basketball. But it is a football Friday,
that's right. It is Friday.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Come Friday.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Come on Sunday, Friday.

Speaker 4 (15:20):

Speaker 4 (15:40):

Speaker 3 (15:41):

it's Friday. It's a football. It's Friday. All right, Hey,

Find out more about Oonie, you can visit uni dot com.
That's Oohni dot com. Jeff my Man, Caleb Williams, he
has been a lightning rod, to say the least for soundbites,
quotes and conversations. He has continued to build on that

(18:14):
that trend by going on to a show and having
some interesting things to say. He went up on uh,
well it's called up In Adams with Kay Adams and
he had this to say about quarterbacks and well, his
top ones.

Speaker 6 (18:30):
Matthew Stafford is probably I can't.

Speaker 7 (18:33):
I don't think I can name two quarterbacks, two or
three quarterbacks that play the position better than Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 6 (18:39):
Wow, not obviously playing right now. I'm not saying forty two.
He was forty two forty two. He's better than Josh Allen,
He's better than like that. Then Matthew Stafford is Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
Aaron right now in the game is my number one
QB which obviously last ye got hurt and things like that,
So that's you know, it kind of varies for the
top one hundred butt.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Yeah player play Matthew though, you.

Speaker 6 (19:01):
Know Matthews Matthews top two in the league.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Uh, buddy, I'm I'm I'm reeling from from hearing him
say that. Because there's a guy by the name of
Patrick Mahomes that that that plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
There's a guy by the name of Lamar Jackson who
just won the overall league MVP last last season in Baltimore. Listen,

(19:35):
it's sounded sincere and genuine in what he was saying.
And but was there some shade being tossed out there?
I mean, was this light on light crime that just
took place between Caleb Williams and Patrick Bobs?

Speaker 3 (19:49):
I mean, what what?

Speaker 4 (19:50):
What?

Speaker 1 (19:50):
What was your takeaway on this? I mean, is there
some accuracy to this? Is it Aaron Rodgers number one
and and Matthew Stafford number two as top quarter back
in the league.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
All right, so, uh, we know the NFL players voted
Mahomes fourth in the NFL this past season, right, we
saw that list come out last week. I thought that
was a little bit odd. Maybe this is a continunion
the trend LeVar of NFL players and I know Caleb
was new to the NFL just not thinking Mahomes is
as good as he is. Look, we we see often

(20:23):
with sometimes greatness, there's either boredom and apathy of just
saying the same guys the best each and every year,
or there's some legit, you know, not not not not
hater aide, but people just try to downplay the success
of a player because of what's around him. Even though
we could sew last season there was not much offensively

(20:43):
around Mahomes and to be fair, the Chiefs offense wasn't
what it had been in previous years. I think they
get back to there. What I find interesting about what
he said, though, is picking backing off of what c. J.
Stroud said earlier this summer. I think it was the
summer of spring that he had Matt Stafford as one
of his best quarterbacks in the NFL. And now Caleb
Williams has Matt Stafford as one of his best quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
He's a dope quarterback. Stat's prove it.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
He's got a Super Bowl A He's a super dope quarterback,
no doubt about it. But number two, Come on, number two.
That's Cat. That's all the way Cat number two.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
So you have Mahomes one.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
I would imagine I have Mahomes one.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I'll tell you, I say, take your pick between Lamar Jackson,
then Josh Allen at number two, and then one of
those goes to three.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Yeah, that's your three right there.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
I'm in agreement with you there. I would have Alan two,
Lamar three, and then I think, you know, maybe Stafford CJ. Straight. Look,
the discussion is always about, you know, if you're doing
a draft, right, what do you do? Well Staffords getting
up at age and Roger's up in age, you might
draft CJ. Stroud four, even though I don't know if
he's better than Matt Stafford right now. But look, I
watched the clip yesterday of Caleb Williams saying that I

(21:55):
think he's genuine in his remarks, and I didn't feel
like it was it was shade thrown.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
I mean, we didn't even throw Joe Burrow's name in
there into the mix of all of this. I mean,
when Joe Burrows healthy yet, right, when he's healthy, yes.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
He's gonna stay healthy for a whole season, and I
certainly think that when he is that. Look, I'm a
Chiefs fan of our I am terrified the Bengals. They're
the only team that seems to have the Chiefs number
anytime anywhere. I mean, they win it. They beat the
Chiefs in Cincinnati, they beating in Kansas City, and if
Burrow's healthy, the Bengals become really good and Joe Burrow
becomes one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The

(22:31):
Aaron Rodgers part was interesting, right because it sounded like
to me that was Caleb Williams talking about his favorite player.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
As a hero. Right, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
I took that like that, like, hey man, I always
liked to watching Rogers play. Maybe I'm models on my
game after Rogers, and so he's the guy that I
look for look towards the best quarterback in the NFL.
That's what that felt like to me, was, hey man,
always like Rogers has been my guy, so I'm gonna
put him number one here. It felt genuine didn't feel
like a shot at Mahomes. But also too, is there

(23:05):
a part of it where Mahomes is so unique that
players can't even model themselves after him. They just sort
of say, hey, man, I'd rather be Aaron Rodgers, I'd
rather be Matt Stafford because I can never read Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Listen.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
I found it to be an outlandish statement by young, young,
amazing talent in this league. It will be interesting to
see how he performs and how he plays. He is
scheduled to play this upcoming preseason game. We'll get into
that a little bit more later on into the show.
But I just I thought that that was pretty outlandish

(23:42):
that a rookie would would make that statement. But I
will say this, Joe Milton and Drake Maye, they were
in action, they had their debuts. Yeah, and that's going
to be interesting conversation. But you know what we'll be
talking about. Well, in case you missed it, we'll get
to that in a matter of well few few minutes.

(24:03):
But as you heard add he's saying the update man,
Drake may he didn't have the most impressive of debut showings.
Numbers were pedestrian, but you did see again once again
the conversation surrounding Joe Milton. He threw a thirty eight
yard TD pass in the fourth quarter. They won the

(24:25):
game seventeen to three. Now that's not saying much because
these are two teams that well maybe don't have the
highest of expectations, and probably the Panthers being literally at
the bottom of that totem pole. Bryce Young didn't play
in this game. What was your takeaway from this? There
has continued to be this undercurrent tone of conversations about

(24:49):
the danger of Drake May not being able to beat
out or hold out the other draft picks and and
the in this this past draft for the Patriots and
Joe Milton. What what is your take? I'm curious to
hear how you feel about this. Is there a real

(25:10):
chance that Joe Milton actually could win this job and
be the starter for the New England Patriots this season?

Speaker 4 (25:17):
No, because Jacoby Barsett is going to be the starter, right,
I mean I think that's that That's what it is.
He'll start at least part of you know, part of
the season until Drake May is ready to tell.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
No shot that that Joe Milton impresses enough in preseason
that he takes the starting position here.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
Here's why I think it's it's pretty tough. Right. So
I was watching that game last night. As I mentioned,
I I am a football chunkie. Men, I watched football
as much as I can. Joe Milton is too good
to be playing against the threes. She's too good of
an athlete, too good of a player. But he was
playing against the threes, right he was. He was the

(25:55):
third quarterback out, not including Barsett. I don't who I
don't think played it all right, So it was May,
and then was Zappi, and then it was Milton. And
a lot of times you can take where players are
practicing the practice reps or their game reps is where
they stand on the roster. So they have three preseason games.
In the first of the three games, he was the

(26:16):
fourth quarterback to play. He doesn't have enough time LeVar
to become the second quarterback, right, Like, there's not enough
reps between now and the second game, which is considered
now sort of the dress rehearsal game. Right, So Jacoby
Brissett and Drake May I'll probably get more of those
one reps prepare for that game. There's no time for
Milton to overcome and surpass those guys because he's not

(26:38):
taking reps with the ones and twos very often. That's
where he's at right now. So he might end up
being a more talented player than Drake May. We don't
know that, but that's not going to happen this preseason.
Maybe next preseason they watch them all practice this season
on practice squad, or maybe he's active roster and they're like, okay,
heading into camp next year. Now it's time to give

(26:59):
him more reps with the ones or more reps with
the twos, because these are not opportunity. He's Joe Milten's
gonna play well against the threes. Man, He's a phenomenal
athlete with a canon of arm. We know he could
throw the ball eighty yards in the air.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Right he doesn't earn him the opportunity to do it
against the higher level.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
I don't think it. I don't think there's enough time.
Man like if you because look, if the idea is
we drafted Drake May third overall and we need him
to play for us at some point this season, and
we know draft slot dictates a lot of sort of
playing time in the preseason. Out of you pick man
like that that has always been the case, right, And
so if you're saying, if you're the Patriots, hey man,

(27:37):
we need to get well Jacobett's going to start. We
need to get Drake may ready to be the backup.
We draft him third overall to play at some point.
They're not going to spend the time in this preseason
to get Joe Milton ready to take over Drake May's spot,
right Like, there's there's in my opinion, there is a
there's this idea of competition, right we talk about it

(27:58):
all the time. It's it's not a myth within the
players and the way the players feel about it, but
it sort of as a myth in the front office.
Like they have the fifty three man pretty sharpie then
right now, right like, there's not a lot of movement
that's going to happen between you know, now after Game
one all the way to the final roster. The Patriots

(28:18):
sort of know where guys are going to be. There's
a couple competitions here and there that might be decided,
but I don't think that they're going to even allow
Milton to beat out Drake Maye because they need Drake
may to be successful. He's drafted third overall for a reason,
and I don't think he'll get that opportunity LeVar to
get there because they're not going to give him the
reps in lieu of getting the guy they drafted ready.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
You know, the first thing I think about is is
Jacobe Brissett no shade, but it is Kobe Brissett good enough?
Is his body good enough to just be deemed and
anointed the starter? That's the first thing. Yeah, I don't
trust that you're going to go through an entire season
and Jacoby Brissett is your starting quarterback. That's my first

(29:03):
that's my first takeaway. Second takeaway is when you think
about a guy who gets drafted at the slot that
that Milton got drafted at as late as he did,
and there is a top draft pick in that same
draft at the same exact position, the most important position
in the game, and you're not really playing starters in

(29:25):
the preseason, it almost becomes a counterproductive conversation about guys
having a fair opportunity to win a job because they're
not going to play against the type of caliber competition
that they would see in the regular season. Because their
guys aren't playing as much, if at all in these games. Secondly, Secondly,

(29:47):
if a guy does perform at a high level, they
can't outperform what you just said. If you're playing against
guys that are going to be looking for jobs, looking
for other roster spots on other teams, and he's having
success and he's not really going to get that fair
opportunity to actually take somebody's job that he's behind by

(30:10):
by just default of where he went drafted. That's that's
that's like sets up for said commentary, if you ask me,
Because while you have somebody like a Drake May that
gets drafted high, you have a Milton that that is
and and all intents and purposes, so many people have

(30:30):
talked glowingly about how his camp has gone, and yet
you have four quarterbacks. Somebody's got to go, well, Zapi,
I imagine Sappy's gonna go.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
I imagine Zappy would go.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
But but at the end of the day, you're talking about,
now what you gotta place Milton on what the practice.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Squad probably and they pay practice squad members sometimes now
a full sellary.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
But now you're you're at the risk of unless you
carry three quarterbacks, you're at the risk of somebody coming
and taking them.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Oh absolutely right. So maybe yeah, but again, like you you're
obviously not cutting Drake May. No, you're not cutting you know,
sets up Bridge right to May when he gets the
opportunity to to uh to finally play.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
But I think you're already setting yourself up. You're telling
everybody be very cautious about our season, like we're not
going to be that good.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
If you're it's just.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Me speaking, you know my mindsett is your starting quarterback?

Speaker 4 (31:27):
Well, no, I think you know you're right. Brissette is
is a good backup. Right If he's starting for you,
that that probably means you're not going to have or
not in the best in the best position to win
right now. I think that's totally fair to say. I mean,
players have different expectations, and that's expectation when you play Brissette.
But dude, draft pick draft slought bias is a huge

(31:47):
part of making the NFL again. Like as a lower
round draft pick, I was. I felt that all through
my carries you through your career, by the way, just
always nervous. It's always always part of this seventh round pain.
It's a first round pick out there that we can
sign instead. It always carries there, so, but I think
the commentary to me about the Patriots is more about

(32:09):
Drake May is, you know, again, quarterbacks and every player
develops at different speed, right, And we see Kayleb Williams
going to be the starter, we see Jane Dale's going
to be the starter. Both guys basically came in right
now and we're ready to go. The commentary about Drake
May into the draft was, you know a lot of
the physical talent is there, but he still needs time
to develop a little bit. We're seeing that happen in

(32:29):
New England where there needs time to develop. Now. Their
offensive line, their wide receivers are not as good as
we have in Chicago or in Washington as well. But
still it seems like Drake May is the reports are
not really there right, not ready to play now that
that doesn't feel great, right because if you draft a
guy third overall, especially that position, you want him to
play immediately. Now. Of course they're outliers if we saw

(32:51):
Patrick Mahomes and Jordan Love and there are outliers, certainly so,
but the reports are not as glowing as they should be,
Like you should come out of training camp hearing about
Drake May getting better, hearing about the players around him,
you know, seeing improvement in that quarterback. You don't want
to enter a season, and I agree with you. Your point

(33:12):
here is like you don't want to enter the season
saying Jacoby Brissett is our best option. You might enter
the scene and say, Okay, we're gonna start him now,
and we're gonna, you know, Drake Mayo play eventually in
a couple of weeks, once we get a little more
season under his belt. Right, But it sounds like it's
Jacoby Brissett and hopefully Drake may at some point you're
ready to play. Those reports to me don't sound promising

(33:35):
for may and I think there are certainly outliers to this.
But it feels like in that position, LeVar, you sort
of either have it or you don't very quickly. It
feels like teams know quickly if you have it or
you don't. I'm not saying dray Mae doesn't have it. Again,
Jordan loves a good example. Right, took him three years,
he's spot starting. Wasn't great when he spot started. We've

(33:57):
seen other players. Josh Allen came out early in his
career and very good, became very good. There are certainly
allies to that, but the reports on New England don't
sound like we're getting positive feedback about Drake Mayn You
drafted our third. Overall, you least want to see some
things in camp.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
You feel excited about his cohorts. His contemporaries seem to
be in much better positions than he is. We'll see
how that all plays out. Coming up next on Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe Live from the Tireck

Good morning, far good boarding, Jeff.

new technology for the first down markers last night in
Sony Hawk High Technology.

It's kind of interesting. Yeah, you guys a fan of
it so far?

Does it need a little tweak?

Speaker 4 (36:06):
I mean, the chains came out like fifteen times a year.
It's not something that I think that like it's that
big of a worry. But whatever makes it easier to
officiates fine with me.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Technology, man, that's all I'll say. It's a brave new
world and everybody's having fun with the technology.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
That's in it.

Speaker 8 (36:25):
There you go, guys. Crazy scandal in the world of chess.
I love it out in Russia during the other Uh,
I don't know. I guess some kind of championship they
got going on, this rivalry that's been going on for
forty years since these guys were in their kids. Apparently
one of them decided to break open a thermometer and
pour mercury all over their pieces. Authorities have gotten in,

(36:46):
likely going to ban them for life if found guilty,
but they were caught pretty red handed on CC is crazy.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Who knew? Who knew chess had robberies like this?

Speaker 1 (36:54):
I'm a you going to just break the thermometer and
put it on their pieces like.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
They went in their house did that, or like they
did it during a.

Speaker 8 (37:01):
Match, during a match while there was a break. You
catch them on CCTV she put it on the pieces.
The opponent later saw little pieces of metal under her
board and alerted officials after she started getting nausea, uh
and passing out.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Yeah, I mean talk about wanting to win, dang, talk
about not wanting to lose.

Speaker 8 (37:24):
All right, And guys, I just stumbled across this cool story.
Free healthcare over at the Olympic Village players are taking
advantage that. One Puerto Rican athlete says, instead of going
to Disneyland, they're going to go to the dentist today.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
Nice, get them choppers clean, smart. Gotta love that. All right, Well,
