Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific, and we do so with
(00:49):
my man, the one and only, Brady Quinn. I can't
wait for this segment because I'm really curious where you're
gonna go here like like that. That's that's that You've
You've teased it. You've got me all excited about. I
have no idea what you're about to throw my way,
so so so give it to me. Man, Hit me
with Okay, whatever whatever it is you've got on your mind. Okay,
So before we get to the idea itself, let's just
(01:10):
set this up for anybody that did not see the
game or did not see the conclusion of the game
because they just assumed at halftime that it was a
rap in Brooklyn and the Milwaukee Bucks were gonna roll
because James Harden was banged up and and that Kevin
Durant couldn't do it by himself. You missed out on
one of the all time classic performances by Kevin Durant.
(01:31):
Unbelievable stuff. Um, one of the performances when he goes
into the Hall of Fame upon first year eligible after
he retires. This is gonna be one of the performances
you look at when it comes to Kevin Durant's career
and you go that it was that game and the
calm to it, I guess is Lebron James back when
the Miami Heat were, you know, facing elimination at Boston
(01:54):
just put on this epic performance. Uh completely took over
the game. And that's gonna be one of the go too,
is when you talk about Lebron's Lebron's career one of
his great performances. This was just a masterpiece of master
class by Kevin Durant with the forty nine points, the
triple double, all of it in this spot James Harden
(02:14):
nowhere close on one leg with the hamstring injury to
see what Durant was able to do with some help
from Jeff green I and the Milwaukee Bucks who did
not play well in the second half. Just an awesome
performance by k d um. Here was his head coach,
Steve Nash talking about the performance afterwards. Historic historic performance
(02:36):
and maybe he played the entire game. He barely missed,
got to the line seventeen rebounds, Tennis's three steals, two blocks,
I mean, forty nine point. I mean, it's it's ridiculous
what he's able to do. We know he's capable of
nights like this, but to do it tonight, you know,
we lose kai. You know, James obviously is is soldering
(02:56):
through his ailments with down bodies were wounded, and for
him to have the toughness, the mentality, you know, that's
what makes him one of the all time greats. And
so this is a performance that, you know, a signature performance,
you know, for for Kevin and uh, and it was
beautiful to watch. Just awesome stuff, absolutely awesome stuff. So
(03:18):
let me present to you this. He played every single
minute in that game last night. Um. James Harden clearly
not a pent as we mentioned, UM, and James Harden
played all but two minutes in that game last night. Uh.
You have a three two series lead. Do you sit
either Kevin Durant and or James Harden in game six
(03:42):
and go for it all in game seven? It's a
valid question. Okay, all right, we're off. This is I'll
be honest with you. I'll be honest with you. We've
worked together for I think over five years, maybe six
years now. But who's telling this is the best question
you've ever asked on Very good? All right, very good.
You've asked a lot of the questions off the air.
(04:06):
Give me a round of applause. There's a live studio
audience here. Yeah, listen, golf claps, you name it, I mean,
you know, a new jumping jack's whatever you want to do. Uh.
This is just a just a momentous occasion here. I
have finally gotten not a completely shot down reply from
Brady Quinn with one of my ideas. You know what,
(04:28):
great question. Great question, very good. So let me let
me try my best answer this. I don't know, if
you're Kevin Durant, that you can afford sitting after that performance.
I just I don't think you can. I don't think
you can run the risk of, you know, a note
putting yourself out there in the event that let's say
(04:50):
the Bucks have a terrible shooting night and Jeff Greenfiel's
inspired Blay Griffin, who stepped up to some of the
other pieces. You know, you find yourself in a much
closer a game throughout the course of it where you're
not getting blown out by sixteen and a half. So
I don't know that you can have a performance like that,
a historical performance something we haven't seen the playoffs in
(05:10):
the NBA history ever and then not followed up, you know.
And it's not like James Harden had an impact anyway
when you look at you know, even though he played
a lot, it was it was kind of hit or miss.
He wasn't able to shoot well. Um, there was a
times when he was like early on he had he
had to turnovers, should have been three if the ball
had hit off the bucks uh defender. But the reality
(05:34):
is is, you know, outside of maybe being a decoy
a little bit or them being somewhat curious early on
that game, if he was gonna be able to have
an impact, he didn't have much of one. So it
would make more sense to sit hardened and then let
Durant play. Now that you've clearly identified, you know, Blake
Griffin and Jeff Green are the two other guys that
have to step up in their roles. I would much
(05:57):
rather see that then both sit and say we're just
gonna go in all in on game seven. That would
be you know, you run, you run the risk of
not being able to win that game six. Just because
they're playing at home in Milwaukee, that doesn't mean you're
not gonna be able to pull off the win. You've
got the momentum right now, and obviously you're in the
Bucks players heads. So I would rather follow that up
(06:18):
if I'm Durant and play regardless of if if I'm fatigue, tired,
what have you. I'm just doing all I can to rest. Now.
If that game goes sideways and we're down by child quarter,
he's he's not playing in the fourth quarter. And by
the way, I don't think Harden should play. Harden shouldn't
play until game seven. There's just he didn't look even
(06:40):
anywhere close enough to being ready. Like he reminded me
of James Harden in like fifteen years when he wants
to go play like a pickup basketball game. That that's
no no, I'm just saying, like he was still James
Harden as far as you know what he's capable of,
but he was nowhere close. And the way he was
moving reminded me of like an older an older man
(07:01):
playing to pick up basketball game where he wasn't gonna
try to go for any loose balls. He wasn't gonna
be able to play great defense, he wasn't gonna try
to be able to get by you, um as far
as like dribble penetration or try to take you to
the hoop. He was just gonna take an open outside
shot if he got it, and that was it. So
that was more of what he reminded me of. I
just I don't think it's worth it trying to have
him play Game six. And then obviously you gotta see
(07:23):
where Kyrie's at the ankle Andrew looked bad. But you
know who knows, um who knows if he could come back.
He ain't coming back this series. Listen, I don't. I
don't need a medical degree to tell you when when
you sit all the way down on your ankle and
it's underneath you and it folds like that. Come on, man,
you've you've sprained your ankles enough times. Kyrie Irving is
(07:43):
not coming back in this series. Here's look, I agree
with you don't have an ankle, so that's your issue. Okay,
you're missing your calves somehow. What do you want? God,
God made you with with legs that don't involve calves.
What do you want from me? I'm a flamingo with
bad tattoos. I told you that. I mean, it's nothing
to do it. You know, I work my calves every day.
I I do whatever I can to try and make
(08:04):
it work. And you know, genetics, I mean listen, some
people are just you know, they're they're they're they're shorted
on certain things, right and amongst others. Yeah, you should
have got caffeine plants like that was that was the
thing you were missing out? Thought about it, Listen, I
thought about it. I did, and then I really help. Yeah,
but I didn't want one of those medical emergencies where
(08:25):
all of a sudden, you know, I'm going to, uh,
you know, play frisbee on the beach, and my calf explodes.
The next thing, you know, hair gel starts falling out
of my my my legs and out of my my
tone nails, just like I don't want, like I I
didn't want to deal with that, So so I just
roll with what I roll. All Right, I'm not not
the most attractive guy in the world and a pair
of shorts, but you know what, that's what God made
(08:46):
salmon pants, and that's why God made me wear salmon
pants at your golf tournament. So what do you say
about that? Yeah, you get you guys get a taste.
All right. I'll decide when when you'll get a volume
two of that of successful album of people and at
your golf tournament, all decide not you, I get to
decide that. But here's the thing. On the game six
(09:07):
situation for the Brooklyn Nets, I would agree I would
not play James Harden. I also, when I asked the
question about Kevin Durant and do you sit him, there's
zero chance that Kevin Durant would agree to sit. You
could say whatever you want about Durant. But if you
recall in the NBA Finals, there was a feeling when
(09:28):
he was dealing with that achilles issue that it could
go at any time. Yeah, that it could go at
any time. And afterwards, when you had everybody trying to
speak up for Kevin Durant, you had all these people
on sports radio and television talking about how the Golden
State Warriors wronged him, they used him and abused him,
(09:48):
and they put him out there when he shouldn't have
been playing. And Kevin Durant was the first guy afterwards
to say, Man, don't blame the medical staff. I'm a hooper.
This is what I do. Like, like, don't don't blame
the medical staff. If he didn't want to play, and
he knew the risks of not playing, he wouldn't have played.
So with all that being said, I don't see how
there's any way he doesn't come out and and and
try and play Game six. Now, Joanna said afterwards that
(10:11):
he would like the responsibility of guarding Kevin Durant, that
that he would like that responsibility in game six. And
I would just say this, um, be careful what you
wish for a right just to be careful. You know.
Here's here's the thing that like and I get it,
like superstars want to step up. He wants to do
all he can in that moment. He understands their season
could be coming to a close. There there one game away.
(10:34):
But what he doesn't understand is if he takes a
step back offensively with his point production because he's spending
so much energy trying to stop Kevin Durant on the
other end, they didn't really have someone to fill that void.
Like Middleton's played a big role. He's done a good
job scoring, but outside of if Janice takes a step
(10:56):
back and Middleton continues to do what he does, there's
still gonna be able to replace that that production, and
so that that becomes the biggest concern. I think even
if he does want to try to match up with
k D moving forward for obviously the next game, if
not the next two, I don't know if that's the
best way of going about doing it. Hell, I'd rather
put his brother on him, on Katie, like the energy
(11:17):
that his brother brings in when he comes in the game.
Put p J. Tucker and then and then put the
other end of the compo on him. Well, whenever he
comes to the game, just fouled Durant the whole time
and frustrate him and try to rough him up a
little bit physically, like to do back in the old days,
old Detroit Pistons versus Chicago Bulls, back when Michael Jordan
couldn't even get into the lane half the time. Damn right,
(11:37):
that that's how it's done. But the bad boy Pistons
back when you know, it was cool to score point
have games finish in the eighties and nineties, so that
it was it was cool back then. Now it's not anymore.
But I'll tell you this much. You weren't going to
the rim and getting just a free pass. It's nowhere
close when it is nowadays not happening. You were getting
an elbow, a forearm, a punch to the face. Yeah,
(11:58):
I mean, but you literally had to cover the it
was football two hands. Yeah. And and here's the so
Charles Barkley, we made the point earlier. We talked about
how Barkley was just so upset at the Buck's performance,
the fact that you look, you've got this team this
wounded and and you couldn't figure that out like with
that lead, you couldn't figure that out. It was just
(12:20):
like like, yes, Kevin Durant was amazing, he was efficient,
Jeff Green was awesome. Um, they made the plays late
when they needed to, but Milwaukee also played so poorly
at times, especially in the second half. And and one
of the things Barkley said that we were laughing about earlier,
as he said, man, I wouldn't have fed those guys
on the plane, like on the plane right home. Those
guys aren't getting to eat, just based on and he
(12:41):
was saying that, and he was half joking. But the
other point that he made that that I do think
is a valid one. So the final turnover all right,
so that in the end that we ended up being
the crucial turnover. Middleton made a great move to get
to the basket, and then as they tried to give
it to Janice, he fumbled it away and Jeff Green
(13:02):
came up with the steel and that ended up pretty
much icing the game from that point forward. And one
one of the things that Barkley said afterwards, and I
was thinking the same thing, he said, Well, the reason
that he was fumbling the ball right there, Janice is
because he knew he was going to get fouled, and
he's got zero confidence when he goes to the foul line.
Zero confidence. And so it's almost like hot potato, get
(13:25):
the ball away from me, or you try and rush
a decision because he knows a foul is coming, because
they would just rather put him at the foul line
knowing all the issues he's had, because it's gonna go
one of three ways. Either he's going to make one, uh,
he's going to miss both, or he's gonna get called
for a ten second violation. That's it like that, that's
the best case scenario. So with all of that playing
(13:48):
out the way that it is, I just wonder if
this goes south again in Game six, what the hell
has happened in Milwaukee moving forward? I mean, they're gonna
have to make some sort of a change. Johnice is
there long term, whether they decided to move on from
Mike Budenholz or the head coach. Who knows. But this
is a bad, bad spot to be in if you're
the Milwaukee Bucks in their fan base, what makes you
(14:08):
think is their long term? Well, he signed the contract,
and you know how it works in sports when they
when guys sign a contract, it means they're there for life.
Brady Quinny didn't know that. It's why I asked this question,
because there's plenty of NBA players, plenty of players in
general who are under contract that end up looking for
greener pastors. And I don't say greener as far as money.
I'm saying greener as far as if. If I'm if,
(14:29):
I'm honest, I want to win a championship. And that's
what everyone's doing right now. Like as a society, as people,
we tend to look at trends and we tend to say, well,
what's everyone else, Who's who's one of the best players
in the in the NBA doing? I should follow their lead,
go find one or two of their stars the team
up with to go win a championship. Because it doesn't
(14:50):
feel like it's happening there now. They could make a
lot of moves in the off season and maybe that's
gonna work for them, But you'd have to admit this.
If he goes to the West, it only makes things
more a cloudy over there and an easier path for
the Nets. Whereas right now these are the top two
teams in the East. I know we're not there yet
for the Eastern Conference Finals. But the winner of this
will go on to represent the East. I'd be surprised
(15:11):
if that wasn't the case. Um, But they have a
much easier path at least to get to an NBA finals,
So you know, maybe it makes more sense to stay
in Milwaukee. But this team still needs help. You know,
they still need to bring in another superstar, someone else
to kind of be the robin to him being Batman. Yeah,
he's Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knocks. This is Fox Sports Radio.
(15:32):
It's out Kick the Coverage here on fs ARE. You
can listen to the show on the I Heart Radio app.
Coming up next, a multiple time pro bowler could be
calling it a career, a very very surprising comment. We
will get into all of that for you next year.
I'll kick the Coverage Fox Sports Radio. This is out
Kick the Coverage. Brady Quinn. Um, you have pointed out
(16:00):
that John Gruten is very, very flirtatious when it comes
to quarterbacks. In fact, you've got Google eyes. They're always
wandering looking around for other quarterbacks out there. Yeah, he's uh,
he does have a kind of a wandering eye when
it comes to the quarterback position. I mean you would
(16:20):
have thought when they were on hard knocks that uh,
that Nathan Peterman was his son in law. I mean
it was just I mean, oh, he could not get
enough of Nathan Peterman. Now, whether or not that was
you know, some editing via HBO or whatnot, he was
a big fan of Nathan Peterman. Uh, and and really
wanted to take on that project when it came to
(16:41):
the quarterback and trying to fix him after whatever the
hell happened in Buffalo. But even when you were in
the NFL draft or going through the process. John Gruten,
who was then the coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
he was very fond of one Brady Quinn. From my
understanding that he told me where to come get you?
A number four. We're gonna come get you and they
(17:01):
went with the defensive. Then it was it was for
this thing from it so um so um. His current quarterback,
Derek Carr, was speaking yesterday, um and the conversation of
a potential trade came up. You know what would happen? Uh,
And Derek Carr had this to say, one of the
situation is great or not. That's okay. People can say
(17:23):
whatever they want. I know what I've put on film.
I know the things that I've been able to accomplish,
and I still want more. There's still more, and I
want to do it here. I don't want to do
it anywhere else. I've said it over and over again.
I probably quit football if I had to play for
somebody else. You know, I am a Raider for my
entire life. I'm gonna root for one team for the
rest of my life. And uh, it's the Raiders. Man.
(17:44):
That's that's a little play better. Yeah, that's that's that's
he's played. He's played pretty well, not in the red zone, raiding,
not in the red zone. But but but have they
run the football well in the red zone? You know? Well,
I last, Yeah, they haven't overly run the football well either,
which makes it more difficult in his job. But by
(18:04):
the way, do they have a number one wide receiver
yet or we just gonna call Waller that he's a
tight end. That's great, But even like Patrick Mahomes as
you know, Tyree Kill on the outside and a balanty
of other wide receivers a throat too, or Denver you know,
and all their wide receivers, or the Chargers for that matter.
But if you want to debate this all day, we can't.
(18:25):
Here's the reality. Here's the reality is why lie are
you telling me? If someone offers you a contract, if
you get cut from the Raiders for twenty million thirty
million a year, you're not gonna go play quarterback for
another team in the NFL? Are you kidding me? And
when he's saying that I'm only going to work for
Fox Sports Radio for the rest of my life, if
(18:45):
I'll quit radio, if I'm not at Fox Sports Radio,
but I actually mean that though, like like nobody else
wants me, Like this is all I got. Come on,
I just defending car a lot. I just I don't
know why he does this, but but but this does
bring up a great point. Okay, And like here's like
some serious talk for some serious time. Okay, here's what
(19:07):
people out there listening need to understand, all right, And
this is for all relationships. It could be with you
with your your your boss, you know where you work
and you as an employee. It could be with your
girlfriend you know, boyfriend, uh, you know, husband, wife, whatever
the case may be. It's never gonna be equal. Okay.
It's the appreciation that you both have is never going
(19:27):
to be equal for one another. Okay, Clearly Derek Carr
appreciates loves at least outwardly. You know, he's saying this
the Raiders more than maybe John Gruden does in this marriage.
Clearly Car wants to be there more, obviously wants to
be a part of it more than maybe John Gruden does. Now, again,
this is all based on Gruden's comments every offseason and
(19:49):
free agency or the draft. But it's a piece of advice,
like if you're looking forward to be fifty fifty split,
it's it's equal. We feel the same about each other.
We both love each other. It's ever gonna be that.
If you're looking for that, then you're looking for a unicorn. Okay,
you're just you're not gonna find it. So I'm actually
okay with this um because John Gruen has always been
(20:11):
on John Gruden is and Derek Carr. He's played well
enough where he should be in the position where he's
the guy right now. Regardless of what Roberto wants to say.
They need to give him a little bit more help.
They need to actually give a defense. Maybe Rugs will
develop into that number one wide receiver outside of something
to throw to in Waller. But the truth of the
matter is it seems like Derek Carr has got a
(20:31):
lot more love, a lot more appreciation for the Raiders,
then maybe they maybe do him. And I think Roberto
is a great You're a great case, you know, an
example of that. Like even their fan base wants to
move on from him, and it's like, Okay, what are dreaming,
Jamacus Russell. When we bring Baron Rodgers there to be fair,
I feel like it's split down the middle with the
(20:52):
Raiders fan base because every article about this, every comment
made on social media, if you go to the comments,
split it's use social media as the basis of your argument.
My Raider family, then half half of my family loves
that dude. The other half hates his guts. And it's
very emblematic of the Raider fan base right now. He
(21:16):
is polarizing to the fan base because half the fan
base wants to give him another season, another season. The
rest of the fan base has seen enough and they
want to move on, move on to what if you
really think you're getting Aaron Rodgers, You're nuts. Okay, keep
smoking whatever you're smoking. It's not gonna all He's done
(21:37):
the past three years is throw for over four thousand yards,
complete upwards of sixty seven percent of his passes. Look
and then I don't. I don't think it's thrown over
ten interceptions in any of those and everybody blames the defense.
But he's only had one winning season going to the
play has been awful. I would say that will have
a debate about football. Take it somewhere else. You're not
(21:58):
going to win that argument, do I'm just telling you, dude,
he doesn't have a number one wide receiver. I'm letting
you know what the fan base is arguing him. I
don't care because the fan base is always clamor for
the next thing, and what ends up happening, You end
up waiting another five ten years for the next guy
to hopefully walk in the door because you run through
(22:21):
cycles of guys because it ain't gonna happen. Well build
more around the guy you've got right now. Where I
wanted John Gruden to have googly eyes was Julio Jones.
I wanted a number one wide receiver, and you're right,
Ruggs might make that year two leap. He came into
the mini camp looking really good right now, with like
the twelve pounds were exactly. He's got to prove himself.
(22:46):
He was a number one draft pick for a reason.
He didn't play like it last season. He's the first
to admit it, and he wants to improve. He wants
to be that number one guy. So I hope he
can step up and fill that role. For It's like
like like we're the Saints fans saying us about Drew
Brees when they went seven and nine seven nine, seven
and nine? Were they were they saying that? Or is
because Drew already wanted Super Bowl when he had more
(23:07):
equity building with that fan base. I think that's what
it is. I'm sure it is. But the reality is
is Derek Carr has played about as good as any
quarterback the past couple of seasons, and he hasn't had
the supporting cast that a lot of other quarterbacks have had.
In fact, a lot of the quarterbacks in his own
division you could do a lot worse than Derek Carr.
Like it, just be be careful what you wish for. Listen,
(23:30):
let me tell you something like there's you look around
the NFL and Derek Carr. You can maybe he's not
a top five quarterback, but he's a he's a top
ten to twelve quarterback like he easily and so I
just and look, the whole point is, though I mean
this whole I'd quit if I got traded, doll are
you talking about like That's that's the part to where
(23:50):
it comes across phony like that. But but here's the
reality is he says these things because he's trying to
win over a fan base that doesn't appreciate him. I'll
we never will like all right, that don't appreciate him,
They never will show exactly I do. I do kick
as with him and Madden though, I got to say that,
(24:12):
so he's pretty good. Appreciate him. That just in Jonas,
it's not. It's not. I've always stuck up for that
dude on this show. Um, And I agree with Brady.
Unless you're gonna get an Aaron Rodgers, you're not gonna
get a better quarterback right now. I'd say he's twelfth
or thirteenth in the league. You gotta get a much
(24:32):
better defense because if you don't have a top five quarterback,
then you need a pretty good defense, right and if
you're hovering at the bottom of the league in defense,
then you're not gonna win unless you have a legendary quarterback.
All right, so let me ask you this, would you
rather have him or Marcus Mariotta going into Week one
next season? Derek Carr? Okay, see feels they listen. I'm
(24:56):
telling you like it. Just you know, I think that
I think that you guys should does show a little
bit more appreciation for your quarterback. I mean, like the priorities. Yeah,
that's the priorities. So we're going to get into, um,
how we can give out a different option. All right,
we have been presented with one option coming up week
(25:17):
one of the NFL season. We're going to try and
present to you some different options on how things could change.
So we will be getting to that here coming up
in about ten minutes from now. Brady Quinn should be
pointed out, we've got massive, massive Game five matchups coming
up later on in the NBA playoffs, the Hawks and
the seventies sixers. Now, some people would call that an
(25:39):
Eastern Conference semifinal matchup. Brady Quinn and I have coined it.
The team that will lose in the Eastern Conference finals
matchup is the is the way we're going to refer
to that series. The big question for tonight's matchup between
Philly and Atlanta is going to be Joel and beads knee.
It seemed like it was bothering him. And so whether
or not he comes out with a different demeanor and
(26:00):
and if he's a hundred percent healthier at least, if
he's looking like that, acting like that, playing like that,
we'll have to wait and see. But then the Clippers,
the Clippers, who are right fan favorite of Clippers, and
my Clipperippers fans are just sitting there at home at
night reading all of lebronze tweets about the playoffs. But
the Clippers are actually the team representing l A right now.
(26:22):
That's my Clippers, man, My l A Clippers, just just
rolling right now, two winners of two straight. And the
way this Clipper team works, they'll probably lose by thirty five.
That's the way this goes. They'll probably lose by thirty five. Listen,
it doesn't matter what you did as a kid, It
matters now and now. Uh. And I don't know if
you know this should not, Brady Quinn, But I did
(26:42):
fill out a Fox Sports Radio playoff bracket, and I
had the Clippers, the l A Clippers who imagine, by
the way PG Three and Kawhi Leonard, you know, hoisting
up the trophy when it's all said, how good you
would feel? And you just pe cocking around this, this
whole crew consider behind nobody would care behind the scenes,
(27:03):
how much these guys keep trying to chime in on
our radio show. You've seen it, you're prophetic about it.
You put in your bracket and maybe it's actually gonna
come true. Yeah, everyone cares about my bracket. Do you
know the victory lap that we got to take after
the Lakers won it all last season? Well a big
lap because of COVID, so you most like it was
wearing a mask. It was zero separated, it was zero laps.
(27:26):
The city here didn't get to have a parade, and
we didn't talk about it for even one minute on
out Kick. Clay just skipped that's because most people weren't
even watching it. That's not true. That's not true. No,
it's it's it's because you guys very much fall in
line with Clay. He hates nothing in common with Clay
(27:47):
trappling with you do with them. Yeah, look, I'm the
same class as lebron from the state of Ohio. I
tried to resound like I'm playing a high school National
American game. Okay, trust me, he's as nice of a
guy as it comes by. I support the Lakers, not
being a part of it, and you guys being fanboys
and can't be at least appreciative of another l a
(28:09):
t that's more of the issue. You're full bit. We
tour the Lakers, a new one just a couple of
weeks ago. On the are it seems like no matter
how critical we are of the team, then Jonas always
wants to throw the ball washer thing out there. I
have to hear a separate ball washing before ours, and I
I don't want to hear them. The weird thing is
we were defending the Raiders and Derek Carr just a
moment ago, and that you guys are supposedly Raiders fans,
(28:30):
and you guys were even jumping on being critical like
like like pick a side here, like pick a side.
I felt like, you guys just r loyalty. That's exactly
the thing. So it's like, Okay, do you want us
to be critical about the teams that we root for
or do you want us to just root for them blindly?
I'd rather just not chiming altogether. I mean, and you
(28:53):
say you have nothing in common with Clay Traviting, Listen,
it's uh. The Lebron James stuff is just on because
he's always got a comment. He's always moving the gold
posts on on certain things, and he says and listen,
I liked Listen. I like to bust balls, all right.
I like I like to tease a little bit, and
you know, and wind wind people up. I mean, if
(29:13):
the Clippers lose, who cares I'll go back and lie
and say I didn't pick him to wait, Like, that's
that's the thing. I am not above. Yes, I am
not above lying after the fact. And Brady knows this.
I'm not above lying after the fact and saying I
never said that. Like listen, I'm telling you right now,
(29:35):
I picked the l A Clippers to win the title.
If they lose the next two games, you'll never hear
the word Clippers out of my mouth ever. Again. I'll
just say I never said that. Yeah, I never said that.

three o'clock Pacific, Right here on fs ARE and Brady Quinn.
We are going to have a headline or lie coming
up tomorrow. We don't want to log jam Friday up
with all the fun stuff and Shenanigan. Some figured we
spread it out a little bit um, you know, fallout
from the game fives later on tonight in the NBA playoffs,
some headline or Lie NFL talk about that on a Thursday.
(31:11):
I'm excited for it. Man, we'll see how round two
goes Round one was. It was kind of close, I guess,
but uh, it's a different crowd. It's definitely a different
field than what we're accustomed to on Sunday nights. Yeah,
but we will. We will be live here for the
the part two or second edition of Headliner Lie, which
should be a lot of fun here on fs are Now.
(31:32):
One of the conversations, outside of just the epic performance
by Kevin Durant in Game five last night for the
Brooklyn Nets, one of the other discussions that we had
was Matt Naggy, the head coach of the Chicago Bears,
who's who's basically said, we're sticking with the plan no
matter what you know. Andy Dalton is our quarterback Week
(31:53):
one of the NFL season, and Justin Fields is our
number two quarterback. Now, what's also interesting about that is
it from my erstanding, Nick Foles is still in the roster, right,
so I believe Nicholes is still in the roster. So
so so what does he like? The backup hunter? Like,
what do we do it? Like? I think if any
if everyone gets hurt, he comes in then leads him
to a super Bowl. I think that's how that that
scenario works out. Listen, one of those quarterbacks has a
(32:16):
statue up somewhere in an NFL stadium, and that is
neither Justin Fields nor Andy Dalton. So uh, Nick Foles
is still on the roster. But you've got Matt n
Aggie saying, all right, look, this is how the plan
is going to go. We want this to to mirror
what happened in Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes and and
Alex Smith. Even though a lot of differences between the
(32:38):
two scenarios, and you thought maybe it was a good
idea to throw out some options, all right, some some
to present some different ways in which the Chicago Bears
and Matt n Aggie could turn to Justin Fields for
Week one, a week one game that will be at
so far against the Rams on Sunday night. All right
(33:00):
on and stuff, got four options for you, all very
possible and all have happened actually in recent history. Let's
start off with number one. Andy Dalton gets his lung
punctured by a doctor in pregame before Week one. A'll
what happened to to Rod Taylor. That actually allowed Justin
Herbert to start Week two and then moving forward for
(33:21):
the rest of the season. So that's option one for you. Okay,
option too, Andy Dalton gets mono. Yeah, if you recall
this happened to Sam Donald. It forced him to miss
a number of games before you could come back. When
he did come back, it was almost like a remake
of of the sixth Cents where he was seeing dead
people on the field, as he admitted on national television.
(33:42):
So that's option number two. All right, option number three,
and this is a little more of a serious one.
But what was if if it becomes so apparent to
Matt Naggie, Ryan Pace, everyone within the Chicago Bears organization
that justin Fields is just better. He is just better,
bottom line, is just better. All ah, what happened with
(34:03):
Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn back in Seattle in two
thousand and twelve. Maybe it forces the Bears hand with
three preseason games and there's just no other choice than
justin fields. That's option number three. And then finally option
number four. Andy Dalton between now and the beginning of
the season gains fifty pounds because of all the good
(34:24):
food there in Chicago, all of the deep dish pizza,
he ends up putting on a few extra lbs. And
Matt Naggy, we can't just roll out Andy Dalton as
the starting quarterback. He's gonna have to go with Justin
Fields in that case. Okay, now, let let me go
ahead and just break all of these down here on
Fox Sports Radio. UM, so the punctured long UM, I'm
(34:45):
gonna go out and say that that's probably not gonna
happen because I do think that that mistake that was
that happened last year, uh is probably the worst case
scenario for any training staff in the NFL, and I
think everybody's on high alert, like, so let's go ahead
and make sure we don't all make that same mistakes.
So I don't think that that is a likely candidate
(35:06):
for Justin Fields to take the field. No pun intended. Mono.
I mean, listen, I don't know exactly about Andy Dalton's
social life, but you know, I mean, if you know,
mono seems like like something that Sam Donald's the only
person who's had it and like the last uh, you know,
forty years. If it feels like tuberculosis, like back in
(35:26):
the day, you know, like, uh, Doc Holiday is like
he's what do they call him? A longer? Yeah, I'm
just saying like it just feels like one of those
old time diseases that you never hear about anymore, Like mom,
not after college. Basically it ends in college for most people.
I mean, you know, it's like and and and by
the way, I mean you know, but again, you know,
if by the way, you could you imagine if Baker
(35:48):
Mayfield got Mono. If Baker Mayfield got Mono, that be
the lead story on every single show, and they'd be
told to cut him. Sam Donald gets it, and the
Sam Donald Defense League sticks up for him in sports
media and everything is okay. So I don't believe that
monto is an option. Uh Andy Dalton gaining weight, that
is a possibility. The food is fantastic in Chicago, But
I'm gonna go with option three. Brady quinn Um. Of
(36:11):
the two quarterbacks, who's got the better arm, Justin Fields
or Andy Dalton? I'd say it's justin Fields. Okay, who's
more athletic? Justin Fields and or Andy justin Fields? But
Andy Dalton's not a bad athlete, but he is. He
is up there in age. But but probably fields at
this point. Yeah, okay, so there has to be some
sort of a wow factor and when those guys are
(36:32):
at camp and you see them together and if he's
just outperforming him, is Matt Naggi is still going to
roll out Andy Dalton week one against the Rams, Like
what are you waiting for, dude? Like, like, if he's
just the better quarterback, what's the weight. I think the
other risk that you run is is let's just say
they don't start him and he comes in at some
point though earlier in the middle of the season, and
(36:54):
they start playing that much better. As much as that
may lead to like this thought of Okay, you know
Matt and nag he's got them in a better direction
on the field of starting, it also makes you question him, going, well,
why wasn't he starting him in the first place? Like
didn't we see this in training camp and preseason? You
know what's changed over the past eight weeks. So I
also think you got to call that into question too,
with how he goes about handling who should start and
(37:17):
then who's gonna be their start of week one. Fox
