Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's how kick the coverage here Fox Sports Radio,
Jonas Knocks and Brady Quinn And coming up on the show,
we have got a developing situation involving Deshaun Watson. That's right,
he's back. Watson is back, but where could he be
playing football in this upcoming season? There's an NFC team
on the prow. Speaking of the NFC, what's the latest
(00:20):
with Aaron Rodgers? Now he's gotten multiple teammates that are
unhappy with the organization. USA Basketball is a disaster. We've
also got an ice cream debate, what's really going on
in college football? And another edition of the scraps What
do you call cornhole? Because we called it something completely different.
We're gonna get into all of that next here it's
I'll kick the coverage, Jonas Knocks, Brady Quinn right here,

Monday morning, we appreciate you doing so. We're gonna take
you all the way up until nine am Eastern times,
six o'clock Pacific, and we will do so with a
man who finally decided he wanted to come back to work,
none other than Brady Quinn. Oh, I see how it is.
It's a it's a Monday morning, and this is the
warm welcome that I get from my co host, the
one Jonas Knox. I'm sorry. I was working last week, okay,
(01:50):
trying to figure out what in the hell is going
on with college football, which we'll get into that at
some point later on today's show. But I'm not the
only NFL quarterback and decided to show up today or
decided to show up recently. There's someone else, so I
think fits into that category that we're maybe a bit
surprised by. Yeah, well, listen all sirius and all seriousness,
(02:11):
happy to have you back. I know you were doing
a great work out there at Notre Dame with your
foundation and all that, so we're happy it was a
success and we aren't glad to have you back. Speaking
of glad to be back, I don't know if Deshaun
Watson is glad to be back as the Houston Texans quarterback.
But there he was Brady Quinn. Deshaun Watson is reported
to Texans training camp. This has been a story that
(02:33):
has gone on and on. How how much different is
this story from several months ago when it was Deshaun
Watson is the victim of that organization has done nothing
but wrong him. Uh, And then it was he wants
to be traded, he's got to get out. And then
you know, you know, fifty to sixty massage therapists come
out and say that, you know, maybe he's a little
bit of an issue there, and Deshaun Watson, we weren't
(02:53):
sure what was gonna happen from the NFL standpoint. Apparently
he does not want to be fine fifty thousand dollars
a day, and who would so he's decided I'm gonna
show up to Texas training camp, but reportedly the trade
demand is still there. He doesn't want to be at
the Houston Texans quarterback, but he is there at Texans
training camp, and he reported on Sunday, Well, the truth
(03:14):
of the matter is is he's gonna need all the
money he can get, especially if these suits, which might
I add our civil suits reach a settlement, you know,
he will be paying them. I would imagine uh millions
of dollars potentially at least it's safe to say that
combined for all twenty two civil lawsuits that are currently
(03:34):
filed by their attorney, Tony Buzzby. So he's going to
need all the money he can get because even though
he received a large portion when he signed the extension
and all that, there's still a good chance that this
is gonna cost him a lot of money. So he
doesn't need the Houston Texans trying to find him, or
the NFL for the c b A and him not
(03:56):
showing up or quote unquote holding out if you will,
since he's under contract. He can't afford that right now,
so he's doing I guess I would say that the
financially the smart thing. Now. The awkward part is how
does the organization handle him when he's there? Is he
going to practice? Is he gonna just kind of stand
around and claim there's an injury? And I don't even
(04:19):
know if it's going to go that far, because I
think by him showing up what he did, which and
this is smart considering his situation and circumstances, is not
only will he not face that fine, but it also
forces the NFL to take action because they've got a
player who's now visible, who's able to be interviewed by
(04:40):
the media, that's gonna be out there every single day
with this hanging over his head, and it forces the
NFL to have to take action. And if he does
get put on the Commissioner's an exemple list, he's still paid.
And the and the key point about that is even
if he doesn't want to play with the Texans and
this is all just an to save money, it accomplishes
(05:01):
that goal. So that's really the key Here's he is
able to save from being fined, save for potentially having
to settle all these civil lawsuits against them, and meanwhile
force the NFL to give some clarity. So if he
wants to get out of Houston, I think it would
help if there was a little more clarity based on
(05:23):
what the NFL is gonna do considering his actions. So
all those things of mouth to him deciding to eat
his words and come back. It's the only play he
had left in the playbook. I mean, what the hell
is the NFL waiting on? Like seriously, like what are
we doing here? And we've been talking about this for
a while, and we kept saying weeks ago, hey Man
(05:43):
training camps in a month, hey Man training camps in
three weeks? Is the NFL gonna step up? Hey? Training
camp is right around the corner. At some point this
becomes a reality and and and part of the conversation.
And here we are. He reports to training camp, and
this story is still hanging out there. I mean, what
what are we doing here? Like the Trevor Bauer situation
a major league baseball. Major League Baseball got on it
(06:07):
right away, and that's a players union you want no
part of when when it comes to negotiating or dealing
with they've got it on it right away. And Bauer
hasn't been seen for weeks. Like they took care of
it right away. The NFL is still dragging their feet
on this whole thing. What are we doing here? There
has to be something that obviously they know that we
don't know, and I don't know if it has to
(06:27):
do with what they're being told from, you know, the
the judicial judicial system, with with how this case is
being presented, or you know, maybe if if it will
be thrown out all together, if there's not enough. I'm
not sure what it is that that's the only thing
that can come to mind. And maybe they're potentially worried
about taking a wrong step and being sued one way
(06:49):
or another, you know, being sued either by Tony Buzzby
and the twenty two different women who are accusing Deshaun
Watson of all this, or maybe they're being you know,
concerned about what could happen between Deshaun Watson the NFL
p A suing the NFL for how they go about
handling this. I really don't know. I'm not I'm not
a legal expert, but at this point, there's no explanation
(07:12):
considering the allegations, considering the history of how the NFL
has handled these issues, it doesn't make any sense right
now why they have not put him on the exempt list,
and it only hurts the innocent bystander, which is the
Houston Texans. That's who it hurts the most in this situation. Yeah,
(07:33):
the Texans have been put in a in a terrible
spot because they can't you know, they can't move forward
with their lives, so to speak, because they don't have
a clear understanding as to what's going to happen with
Deshaun Watson. And it's hurt the ability to trade him
because if you're a team out there trying to make
a move or you're interested in acquiring Deshaun Watson, you
have no idea what the punishment's gonna be. You don't
(07:55):
know if he's going to be available this year. My
guess is, and we talked about this, look probably suspended
six games. I mean, if they find something and and
he gets popped for conduct detrimental? What is the player
uh code of conduct? Is that what it is? Like
the player conc Yeah, and and so we've seen Ezekiel
Elliott got popped I think was a six games a
(08:15):
couple of years ago for for something off the field.
If you're in if you're a team looking to make
a move for a quarterback, how the hell can you
pull the trigger on this if you have no idea
what the punishment's gonna be. So let's put it's put
the Texans in a bad spot because they can't get
a deal done. Yeah, I think I think you could
put in place at least that the terms softly. And
I know there's been some teams that have been thrown
(08:37):
out there in the mix who would potentially have interest. Um,
I just think, look at any team that's gonna give
up a significant amount of picks, which I am sure
that Houston Texans want in return for a franchise quarterback,
at least when you look at what Deshaun Watson can
do on the field. I don't know that anyone's disputing that.
It really comes down to, though, you know how this
(08:58):
legal process could play out, what the NFL is going
to do, And until there's any sort of clarity, the
only thing I can imagine is you would have this,
You would have a few different options of what can
take place. So you basically have a trade in the
event that Deshaun Watson gets put on the player exemp list,
you have a trade terms that would would encompass a
(09:20):
six game suspension. You have trade terms that they want
to compass. Hey, they settle, this whole thing goes away.
The NFL decides not to do anything. They've done their investigations,
and they believe that, you know, this whole thing, uh
was a sham. All right. Maybe there's that third scenario
where somehow miraculously nothing at all happens with DeShawn Watson.
Then there's trade terms for that. So that's the only
(09:43):
thing I can imagine that between teams that are looking
at this situation, who are calling Nick Kissario at the
Houston Texans their general manager, they have to be saying
to him, here's the scenarios, here's what we have to
offer you, okay, and this is how we're gonna break
it down. And until there's more clearter, we can't execute
any one of these. So once again it comes down
(10:04):
to the NFL and then dragging their feet. And I'm
not sure if it's because at the beginning of the
season and they don't want this to look bad as
they head into it, this to be the lead story,
even though it's kind of interesting considering this is one
of the faces of the NFL, this is one of
the young budding stars, and you could have addressed it
months ago, but instead you let it get to this point.
(10:25):
So there's got to be an unknown that we're not
aware of, where maybe the NFL, based on their investigation,
is questioning the integrity of all those you know, alleged
victims and what they're claiming about Deshaun Watson, because otherwise
they would have already acted by now. But if he
if the Texans were on Hard Knocks, I'll bet you money,
(10:46):
he would have already been put on the Commissioner's example list,
guaranteed if they were the team featured on Hard Knocks.
Having to see that and have a play on on
national television, I guarantee you he's already on the Commissioner's
example list, guaranteed. Put money on that. Have find a
betting line on that, Brady Quinn, Mr sports Book, Mr
Odds Maker, find a betting line on that. How about
that for a hot take on a Monday. Huh, that's
(11:09):
about as hot as it gets. I'm not sure to
find a hots make with that out there. Um, you
do bring up a good point because the reality is,
I mean, the NFL is hoping this gets into the
regular season or even the preseason, and then then everyone's
gonna like kind of turning pit, kind of like we
did with COVID last year. It's like, once we started,
remember all the all the media out there was like, no,
(11:30):
we can't have a season, No, no, and then the
NFL is able to pull it off and then a
super Bowl and everything like. But as soon as we
started playing games, there was still that like woke media
who didn't want it to happen, who wanted to be
right right, they want to be like, no, I'm the
one who said it would be doomsday. We can't have
a season. We had a season, We had a Super Bowl.
(11:50):
We crowned the Tampa Bay Books at all thirty with
thirty thousand fans and attendance at the Super Bowl. By
the way, I was there. I was present there working.
Trust me, you can say thirty thou so there might
have been a heard thousand around the entire stadium everywhere else.
I digress. They were able to pull it all off.
Once we got into this season, it became this this
almost like it was a train on tracks and it
(12:13):
wasn't stopping. And that's how the NFL operates. And we
can get into the the vaccinated versus the non vaccinated
policy for players at some point, because there is something
that like everyone's missing the point of all this, and
I'll tell you exactly what it is. But the NFL
was is running this trade. They don't not They're not
gonna be stopped. And so even in this situation, they're
(12:34):
just saying, let's just get to the season. Let's just
get to the season. Once we get to games, everyone
forgets about all this stuff off the field and they
focus on what's happening on the field. And that's the
only explanation I can think of as to why they've
continued to drag their feet about this. Brady Quinn Jonas
knocks here on Fox Sports Radio, I want, I want
to hear some other show here all around sports talk
radio and then the sports media landscape go twelve minutes
(12:57):
without bringing up the word vaccine today. Try it, I
dare you nobody else could. We just did? How about
that twelve minutes before we brought up the word vaccine.
But we'll get into all of that disaster, fiasco, drama,
and everything else that goes along with it coming up
later on in the show. We're gonna take you all
the way up until nine am Eastern times, six o'clock
Pacific right here on FS are coming up next though,
there is the story in the NFL. We've got more details,
(13:23):
more rumors, and the deadline is near. We're gonna have
the very latest for you. That's next year. Jonas knocks
Brady Quinn. I'll kick the coverage right here in Fox
Sports Radio. This is I'll kick the coverage. You know
what we're doing here, Brady, Get ready for it. Get
ready for that. Piccolo snare. This is a three eleven special.
(13:43):
Just listen to how the snare drum hits differently, Brady,
Just listen for It's really good. Yeah, just it pops differently.
It's called piccolo snare. Nothing like well, waking you up
on a Monday morning, you know, piccolo snare. By the way,
I love how Roberto is playing Amber. By the those
of you listening on the podcast, it's three eleven Amber
(14:04):
as the song we're listening to. You can't hear that
because we don't have the rights to play and we
don't want to get sued. But the point being, the
only reason Roberto chose this song is because he likes
Dosek's Amber more than actual Doseks, which is a crime,
a crime against humanity. So he's got to rub it
in everybody's face here on a Monday morning. I'll sell
(14:26):
you this much. Say what you want about your beers
and the way you two different opinions. Roberto's got one
hell of a chicken palm recipe, all right, I'll just
leave it with that. Thank you, thank you, damn right
he does. Had the had the wife put that together?
This weekend we gave gave Roberto's chicken parm a try.
I think I ate about six or seven chicken breasts
(14:47):
whichween Saturday nights and Sunday for lunch. It really like
you just had chicken parm like and you got to
go back to the well again. You've got a problem, dude.
I know it's it's uh, it's a problem. I'm willing
to admit it. I mean, I'm self aware enough to
realize it's probably gonna send me to an early grave.
But here's the thing, is my wife's the one cooking it.
(15:07):
And so clearly, if she realizes this and continues to
do it on an almost weekly basis, maybe she's playing
out the long term game. Maybe maybe she's thinking ahead
of how this whole thing is gonna play out. Yeah,
I mean, I just I would love to have been
a fly on the wall when she discovered that you
had this chicken farm fetish. All right, coming up in uh,
we'll call it ten minutes from now here on fs are.
(15:29):
You want to talk about an absolute disaster in the
world of sports, a disaster, and there is so much
comedy attached to this disaster. We're but people are probably
gonna get piste off of me. But I'm gonna have
fun with it. We will get to that here ten
minutes from now on fs are so um the Aaron
Rodgers Drumma, Brady, it feels like this is the week.
(15:50):
It feels like this is the week. The next hours
are going to be telling as to whether or not
Aaron Rodgers is going to be playing football for the
Green Bay Packers. We've seen all sorts of reports that
have come out over the weekend. A quick recap. There
was a him and Davante Adams posting, Ah, what some
people are saying is a tribute to the Last Dance
(16:11):
and it's this thing on you know, snap face or
whatever they called, uh insecure Graham and they've got to
Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen fist bumping each other. Then
there are other people out there that think, oh, but
the Vegas oddsmakers are taking off, you know, the Packers
season win total down, which means they're expecting him to retire.
And then you've got Mike Florio saying that Aaron Rodgers
(16:32):
once a ninety million dollar two year deal from the
Green Bay Packers. But it's Mike Florio, so that was
probably all made up. But the point being, um, the
point being, we are all over the place. We still
don't have any clarity, but the next hours will be
telling when it comes to Aaron Rodgers and whether or
not he plays this season. Yeah, they'll be reporting here
(16:53):
in about twenty four hours and at that point we'll
get more clarity not only on Aaron Rodgers but Davanta
Adams and we could talk about those two like they're
tied together because of their social media accounts and the
post and the reference to the last Dance. The truth
of the batter is there are two very different, different circumstances,
kind of similar to Michael and Scottie and how those
(17:16):
two careers kind of went there there different ways after
that point in time, and very similar to the age
difference between Aaron Rodgers and Vante Adams and where these
two are gonna be going after this upcoming year. But
I took it as this, as you and I have
said all along, and I truly believe this. Aaron loves
football too much. I don't believe he's gonna just retire
(17:37):
and sit out the rest of the year or or
say this is it because of my frustrations with the team,
with the organization, with specifically Mark Murphy. I don't believe
he's going to do that because he knows father time
is not on his side. And as much as I
say that, as much as we look at Tom Brady,
who you know, when it is trainer came out last
week said hey, he's gonna play this year and probably
(17:59):
next year and see after that, who knows if he
wants to pay. I don't know that Aaron Rodgers is
saying that to himself. I think he looks at it
differently than than Tom Brady does. But if he does
think he's gonna play for another eight nine years, then yeah,
maybe he's willing to sit out a year to force
the issue with Green Bay. I don't see that being
the case. I don't after making it to the NFC
(18:21):
Championship Game two years in a row after winning the
league m v P last year. I don't know how
that benefits you to not come back, show out try
to win it again, which is hard as hell to do.
I think Peyton Manning is the only player since the
start of the New Millennium to win m VP and
back to back seasons. But it's not even about that.
(18:45):
It's about if he doesn't come back. I don't know
how this doesn't get any closer to the end, or
he doesn't find more clarity with what he's looking for
out of this whole situation. I think if he sits
out this year or if he's going to retire, that
only makes it more speculative. It only makes it more
of a question mark in the future. And I don't
think he wants that. I think he wants closure one
(19:08):
way or another, and he has to come back, and
he's got to play this year, whether there's the outside
or you know, a small chance he gets traded or
he plays out this final season, the last dance with Davants,
Adams and his other teammates and see I think if
they were going to do a deal like look at
these discussions were probably had, um, you know, all throughout
(19:30):
the off season, we talked about Draft Day. There was
there was a thought that, you know, Aaron Rodgers was
frustrating because maybe he felt like there was a deal
in place to Denver and then all of a sudden,
the Packers backed out. But the point is they've been
having these discussions, in these conversations, whether we were made
aware of it or not, throughout the course of the
off season about whether or not they were going to
trade Aaron Rodgers. If they were going to trade him,
(19:53):
wouldn't they have just done it months ago? Like, wouldn't
they have done it around the draft before all these
other teams started getting set up ready to go for
this season like now, Because it's gone on so long,
I just don't know that it makes sense for Green
Bay to make the move. Maybe this is a move
they make next off season. And you've been all over this,
You've been saying, Look, he's not gonna be there two
years from now. I think we can all agree on
(20:14):
that he's either you know, not gonna be there this
year or before the start of next season, he's probably
gonna be elsewhere. If he If they decided to move
on from him, which it feels like, which is why
they made the move for Jordan's Love, but trading him
right now, I just don't see how that's beneficial for
Green Bay. It's not. And I don't think that you
know that the best offer is still out there. I
think a lot of organizations have had to move on,
(20:35):
at least on paper in their minds. So unless there's
an injury that forces their hand, where a team loses
a quarterback allah the Teddy Bridgewater situation in Minnesota, which
then you know, and and and even in that instance,
which it's kind of similar, only because look, the Eagles
had taken Carson Wentz. They traded up to do so.
Sam Bradford was slated to be the starter, but they
(20:57):
felt like he was expendable and they felt like they
could move v on and and and spare me with
the Hey, what what did Carson Wentz look like in
training camp for the preseason, Because if you recall, he
got hurt, he barely played in the preseason. And so
Jordan Love least has a little bit more equity build
up than the Eagle than than Carson wentzday with the
Eagles when they made that decision. So that's the one
(21:19):
thing that I think if you're looking at and saying,
all right, you know, what could happen that would change
this scenario. Probably a significant injury to a starting quarterback
for another team that would be in the market, right
Jalen Hurts if he goes down, You've got Joe Flacco
on the roster. But Joe Flacco is not the answer,
you know, So you look at a scenario like that,
even though I think Philly might be interested in another
quarterback that could be in the trade block, you know,
(21:41):
going down the line, Derek Carr, if Derek Carr something
happened to him during training camp or in a preseason
game that that changes things. Then you know, that was
a team that was rumored to have interest in Aaron Rodgers,
and if they still had any whatsoever, that would be
the point in time to then make that move and
make your best offer because of how oh again critical
(22:02):
would be at that point time in the year. That's
really the only thing that I could see in my
mind that would still make there be a trademark farreon Rodgers. Again,
not that there isn't a trade market, it's just that
teams are already moving forward. They're going into camp, they're
trying to figure out the roster situations. And then beside that,
you gotta figure out your cap scenario if you're gonna
bring on Aaron Rodgers knowing now, knowing what he may
(22:25):
want in a new contract, if you were to trade
for him. So I think that muddies the waters even more.
He'll be in Green Bay. I think he'll play off
this year, and and and if he's not. If he's
not in Green Bay, I don't know that he's gonna
play anywhere. I just have a hard time believe the
Packers gonna trade him with all those scenarios that I
just laid out for you. I just I wonder who
(22:45):
knows what he's planning on doing. Like we look, we
got your brother in law, A J. Hawk on uh
and and that was supposed to be a hard hitting,
with very difficult question to interview about what the status
is of Aaron Rodgers because of their close friends, and
of course it morphed in to uh, you know, crank
jokes and and all the other things that came along
with the interview. You could come back and yeah, yeah,
(23:06):
all that drunken golf course shenanigans whatnot. But I just
who knows? Does La flour No? Uh, and he's been
putting in a tough spot, which we can get into
later on. But does does Matt Lafleur know? Does anybody
within the organization? No? I would assume Davante Adams knows
at this point because maybe they've had a conversation back
(23:27):
and forth. I just wonder who there knows what the
plan is or is everybody just left up in the
air trying to figure out whether or not he's gonna
show up and ride a bike around a packer training camp.
I think it's only him, his agent, Dave Done, maybe
his U, his fiance. They've talked about it, I'm sure,
and she's heard things. I think that's probably where it stops.
(23:50):
I don't know how many other people really know what
he's going to decide to do. What's gonna happen the
next twenty four hours. Brady Quinn Jonas knocks that's how
kicked the coverage here on Fox WORCH Radio coming up next.
You talk about an absolute disaster in the world of sports,
and there is a comedic aspect to all of it.
We will get into that next year on fs are
But for all the latest from around the world of sports,
(24:11):
ladies and gentlemen. This is a man that deserves respect.
This is a man that will get your respect, and
if he doesn't, he will take it from your cold
dead hands. It is none other than Edmund Garcia. Well,
thank you, Jonas for that interesting introduction. You'll start for
baseball Games of notes. Sunday night, we had a battle
of division leaders in Milwaukee, with the White Sox meeting
(24:32):
the Brewers three to one. Lance Lynn the Star wars Chicago.
Not only did you get the victory on the mound,
going six strong innings along just one run, he also
got the game winning hit with the two RBI single.
Red Sox were taken on the Yankees. New York started
do we go Herman and had no hit her through
seven innings. The eighth inning came up, he allowed to
lead off double. They pulled him out of the game,
and then the Red Sox proceeded to score five runs
(24:52):
in a five four come from behind victory raised loss
of the Indians three to two. Timpy drops a game
back of Boston and the a L East Race Giants
over Pirates six to one, and the Dodgers edge the
Rockies three to two, so San Francisco stole has a
two game lead on L A in the n L West. Astros,
leaders in the a L West, beat the Rangers three
to one. That's twelve straight losses for Texas, and the Mets,
leaders in the NL East to beat the Blue Jays
(25:14):
five before. At the Olympics, the US men's basketball team
lost its opener against France eighty three to seventy six.
US was up seventy sixty seven with three minutes ninety
seconds to play with the then out scored sixteen to
two to end the game. Staff with their twenty five
game Olympic winning streak and they now must beat Iran
and the Czech Republic to advance out of pool play.
(25:34):
US won Golden swimming, taking the men's four by what
are to me to relay? The US women's swimming star
Katie Ladecki suffered her first career Olympic loss, took silver
in the four hundred meter freestyle. US softball team at
Japan to one on a walk off. Forward are now
five and oh in the tournament, and Americans Amber English
and Vincent Hancock took gold in skeet shooting, and that
put the Americans on top of the gold medal account.
(25:56):
Right now, the US has seven gold to China's six.
Japan also was six. The overall medal count has China
with fifteen and the US in secred place with fourteen.
Now back to Jonas Knock and Brady Quinn in the
OutKick the coverage studios. Thank you, Eddie it is I'll
kick the coverage here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knocks,
Brady quick with you here on fs ARE. By the way,
is there any money in ski shooting? Do you think,
(26:17):
like outside of the Olympics, do you think anybody's getting
paid to shoot? Yeah, sponsorships for sure. You've got a
ton of sponsorships, right, I mean think about it. You've
got obviously the gun manufacturers, You've got the AMMO, You've
got the gear you're gonna have, you know, I Gear, headgear,
all that stuff to protect yourself. Probably some sort of
tobacco sponsor. I'd imagine someone's got a nice hogs leg
(26:38):
in there while they're while they're dipping. Um, I'm just saying,
I mean there's there's a lot of sponsorships out there,
and I'm not sure you realize this is there a
gambling market on that? But by the way, what what
a That is just a reckless speculation that you think
anybody that's a ski shooter is also into chewing tobacco.
I mean that that is just reckless speculation on your part.
(27:00):
How how is that part of your stick? Is that
your thing? Is that part of your your your sports
radio stick? Is that what you do here? Just you
were like, I'm sorry, what kind of shooting? Did you
think it was? What it is? Skeet shooting? Is that
what it's called? Are you saying skeet with a T?
Are you saying set? Okay? I'm just making sure because
I was a little bit concerned that you thought shooting,
which actually I think is like a winter Olympic sport
(27:23):
I think where you actually shoot while skiing. Yeah, and
I think it wasn't that. It wasn't ski shooting part
of the movie inception. I think they were. They were
skiing and shooting at the same time, so they were
they were. I think there was a ski shooting scene
and inception, although that movie I'm still trying to wrap
my head around. Yeah, well, listen, I think they got
a little off the rails there like we are. But yes,
(27:43):
skeet shooting. I just you know, the fact that you
just assume that people that are partaking that are into
chewing tobacco. I think it is reckless. I think it's
unfair to them. Well, there's there's chewing tobacco, there's there's
those a dip, there's bandits, there's all kinds of stuff.
I'm saying there's a vast market for for their marketing opportunities.
Can I just say that us though I love the Olympics,
it's the coolest thing. It really is. Now I'm a
(28:05):
little bit biased because my my wife was an Olympian,
but I also there's just something about it. Man, when
when you see I don't care what sport it is,
I'm watching, I'm supporting them, I'm rooting for them and
trying to get my girls to get excited about it.
I love it. I love this time of year. Um,
I shouldn't say tomy year. I love this time when
it comes around. It's just to me, it's the coolest
(28:25):
thing in the world, outside of the fact that the
athletes have to sleep on cardboard beds. Like, outside of that,
I think it's it's overall pretty cool experience. And you listen, man,
I grew up on a futon. They can steak and
they can suck it up and sleep on cardboard, all right.
And by the way, if you if you think sleeping
on cardboard is such a bad idea, take a stroll
down Venice Beach next time you're here and knock on
some tents. See what's inside those things? All right? People
(28:46):
are sleeping on cardboard out here for for a year
in southern California. Can I be real, though, I don't
think a cardboard bed is holding my big gass up
like like, I don't think there's any chance if I
roll over that things collapsing. All right, that's a good point.
I mean, it's literally like when you've got to kind
of fold up those cardboard boxes from all your damn
Amazon packages that you're putting in your recycling bin. That's
(29:08):
what that bed is gonna do. It's gonna fold up
like the trash I'm throwing in my recycling bin. Speaking
of trash, how about USA basketball? Oh boy? You you
I knew you'd go there. Can I say this? Though
we tried to warn you, We literally tried to point
(29:28):
this out, but Hey, there's a bit of cause for concern,
and people try to come after us on social media.
What do you mean until the Olympics, This doesn't matter.
We're just we're telling you what we see. It doesn't
look like this team really cares quite as much. Kevin
Durant got in foul trouble that didn't help. I'm watching
the game. I believe it was tied up with about
a minute to play, maybe a minute thirty. I think
(29:51):
USA had attempted four threes, couldn't hit one, couldn't hit one,
and so I don't know what changes Gregg Popovitch needs
to make. But at this point in time, man, it's again,
they could still win it. It's only one loss to France,
who happened happens to have some NBA players on it.
But this team, I mean Drew Holiday, thank God for him.
(30:12):
At least he's coming off a championship and able to
show out and try to play with a little bit
of energy, a little bit of enthusiasm. This team, it
just seems like they don't care. There was a still
shot of a Devin Booker during the game, and it
just it looked like somebody had electrocuted his dog like
it like he just had this, And I'm thinking to myself,
(30:33):
why would he want any part of playing in the
Olympics right now? You just lost in the finals. You
did in a stunning fashion where you're up to games
to none, had all the momentum in the world, and
then you lose four straight and you're looking around trying
to figure out what the hell happened, and then he
goes to partake in the Olympics. I would want no
part of this, literally, I would want I have had
(30:53):
no interest and wanted to play Olympic basketball coming off
what happened to my Phoenix Suns and what happened to
my franchise in the NBA finals, and and and by
the way, let me just go ahead and dispel a
myth out there, all right, just because gambling is prevalent
in the world of sports doesn't mean people know what
the hell they're talking about. I heard I saw somebody
(31:14):
try and make the comparison France to beating the US,
similar to Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson. Shut up, shut up.
First of all, the US was a twelve point favorite. Alright,
Yes they were heavy favorites. But let's not put that
in the same stratosphere as Buster Douglas, who was forty
(31:35):
two to one, forty two to one to beat Mike Tyson,
And there was only one guy in Las Vegas who
was willing to put a line on it because it
was so astronomical and so unbelievable that anybody would beat
Mike Tyson, especially Buster Douglas. So let's calm down. It
wasn't the most egregious upset in the world. Uh, the
(31:55):
USA stinks right now when it comes to basketball. They
have not looked good. And maybe the problem is Great
Pop a bit. Maybe it's a little bit of karma.
He wants to be a pain in the ass and
and and want to be a blowhard in front of
media members when they're trying to ask him simple questions.
And now he gets what's coming do. Maybe that's the
change that needs to take place. Coach k delay retirement
and come save USA basketball because Pop ain't got it
(32:17):
right now. First Olympic loss since two thousand four. The
the thing about this all time, all time, the the
US men's Olympic team is a hundred and thirty eight
and five before the loss to France, a hundred and
thirty eight to five. You're right, I don't think it's
as big of an upset as Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson. Okay,
(32:41):
I'm with you on that, but it's kind of close.
I mean, it's it's it's getting the point where you're
starting to be a little bit concerned based on how
they've looked this entire year. Okay, and I should say
an entire year, but based on how they've at least
looked over the past, you know, calendar year plus, because
there have been concerns in international play as it is
(33:02):
with this group and obviously coming into Olympics, there are
some concerns. So they better figure it out, man, because
this would be one of the biggest disappointments I think
in the Olympics that I can remember in a long time.
Like I'm trying to think through all the Olympics during
my lifetime, and if they don't win, it would honestly
(33:23):
would be right up there I think with some of
the biggest disappointments in Olympic history. Yeah, there's a couple
of Michael Phelps stories that we could get into. If
you want to be disappointed made if you really wanna
well look, actually I'm talking about performance in the Olympics, Okay,
not not like in the Olympic village, not like anything
else around that yet. Just you know, I just just
(33:44):
want to do I just wanted to point that out,
all right, You've been waiting, You've been sitting on that
for a while. There's something wrong with you. Listen. I've
just said, I just wonder, you know how much Adams
Apples are propound at the produced department. I'm just wondering,
you know, I'm just curious. Listen. I'm just look to
ask you questions here right think you know other stuff
allow you know you've seen online. It's very very peculiar,
(34:05):
all right, Brady Quinn Jonas knocks. It's I'll kick the
coverage here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next. Somebody
in the world of sports stole an idea from this show,
absolutely hijacked it. We got no credit for it. We
should sue them and we will get into the details
of that next year. It's I'll kick the Coverage Fox
Sports Radio. This is out kicked the coverage. Hey, it's
(34:34):
me Rob Parker. Check out my weekly MLB podcast, Inside
the Parker for twenty two minutes of piping hot baseball
talk featuring the biggest name the newsmakers in the sport.
Whether you believe in analytics for the eye test, we've
got all the bases covered. New episodes drop every Thursday,
(34:54):
So do yourself a favor and listen to Inside the
Parkner with Rob Parker on the Heart Radio app or
wherever you get your podcast. He's Brady Quinn, I'm Jonas Knox.
It's I'll kick the coverage here Fox Sports Radio. Coming
up in we'll call it fifteen minutes from now top
the next hour here we are going to get into
a discussion surrounding the world of football because some things
(35:18):
are changing and apparently, uh, somebody is not thrilled about it.
So we have got all sorts of fun stuff, drama,
potential lawsuits, you name it, all that happening here in
the world of football, coming up fifteen minutes from now
on fs are. UM. Now, I do want to just
point this out before we move any forward any farther
(35:38):
into the show. Brady, Um, you like to accuse me
of maybe embellishing certain things on the radio, like like
maybe you know, going over the top. You look, you've
never been confused for someone who hasn't made up stuff
before on radio right now? Um, really honest guy, truthful,
honest guy, never puts words and people's mouths Jonas knocks,
(36:02):
tried and true. Yeah, okay, just a good friend, a
good human being who doesn't make stuff up. Let me
let me tell you something a little little behind the
scenes here. Most of the time, when I make a
statement that Brady said something off the air to me,
it's usually me that said it to Brady. Uh, he
didn't agree with the point, so I turned it around
(36:24):
on him and make it seem like it was his
bad idea when reality was mine. All right, that's honesty.
I'm being honest here. You are, You're you're actually being
honest right now for uh for once. So So the
reason I bring this up is because you have, you know,
accused me of maybe embellishing certain things on the radio.
I would like to call you out for embellishing something
on the radio. Yeah, I'd like to call you out.
(36:48):
So a couple of years ago, we were having a
discussion you probably don't even remember this discussion on our
Sunday Night show, are highly rated Sunday Night show here
on FSR, and you were bloviating, you would not stop
talking about how for whatever reason, the subject of best
ice cream came up, and you're like, oh man, got
(37:08):
to get the Hogg and Doss assaulted a caramel cone.
Got gotta get the hog and Doss assaulted caramel Cone's
the best at that point, at that point in time, Okay,
full disclosure, I had a problem. Okay, at that point
in time, I am willing to admit publicly, I was
addicted to Hoggendas flavored carmel cone ice cream, like absolutely addicted.
(37:33):
A quick twenty second story. I remember, like when I
would be away, for example, up thirteen, as I started
to kind of move around team the team. It gets
tough when you're out there. You're all the way across
the country away from your family, and I'm out there
just trying to learn the playbook and everything else. Every
once in a while, just literally take down an entire
(37:53):
little mini point of caramel cone hoggandas ice cream. I
would just have one of those cheat days because it
was the it was the one thing that kind of
brought all that homesickness, the sorrow, the sadness. It would
take it all away, would eliminate it with the sugary
goodness that was the caramel cone Hoggan Doss ice cream.
So I'm sorry that was my opinion two or three
(38:14):
years ago. Maybe I was very attached, some would say
addicted that at that at that point in time. All right.
So the reason I bring it up is this, my
cheat day was over the weekend, said do you know what,
I'm in the supermarket and I'm like, you know, I
haven't on ice cream in a while. Somebody gets some
ice cream, got some big questions already, It's on sale,
all right, it's on sale. So I'm gonna take this
(38:39):
Hoggends assaulted caramel cone flavor that Brady Quinn was blow
beating about. I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna take it
for a little bit of a test drive and I'll
tell I'll tell you this, it's pretty good. But best
in the world, dude, it's not even top five, not
even well for the first off, first off five, First off,
(38:59):
I don't us agree with that. Now, I think, much
like many people in the moment when you're caught into
an addiction, in particular this for me ice cream. Um,
at that point in time, that's what I thought. But
I have always been biased towards Greaters, all right. It
started in Cincinnati, Ohio. If you haven't had greater as
ice cream, get Greaters. There's a ton of great flavors.
(39:20):
I'm just saying I was. I was blinded at that
point in time to the flavor, to the mixture of
the waffle cone covered in chocolate in salted caramel ice cream.
That combination was lethal at that point time of my life.
By the way, I feel bad for your trousers after
a night of chicken parm and salted caramel. Come, hey, pal,
(39:41):
how's your stommach doing after that cheat? Okay, you haven't
had dairy in like three years. Okay, you're not wearing
out that squatty potty right now and not not gonna.
Let me tell you something. I had to bowl cheerios
like like four years ago, and I thought to myself, Man,
things have changed in time. As a child. This is
not this is just not not sitting well, uh and digestive.
So listen, uh, let me tell you something. Diaper boy,
(40:04):
a little worse Alright, we got anything that sounds a
little worse than that, maybe liquids. By the way, did
you see that the team USA not maybe even gonna
say Team USA basketball, but the USA as we pay
off the tease here some radio formatics here on Fox
Sports Radio. It's what that's what we do. Just paying
off tease is a little little bit little stuff here
(40:26):
that we do. But did you see the Team USA. Uh,
the entirety of Team US and not just the basketball
team stole our idea. They stole our move. You and
I have been wishing each other a happy birthday every
single day we've done a show together for like two
years now. Um, all of a sudden, they break out
in singing Happy Birthday to Kevin Durant in the tunnel.
(40:47):
His birthday is not until September, so his birthday is
not until late September. And he's looking around like, what
the hell are you guys doing? And it was one
of the guys I think on the team and wanted
to bust his balls, maybe Draymond Green or one of
those guys you just said, Hey, get everybody to sing
Happy birthday. Stole our idea, stole our move, and we
got zero credit for it. We should sue their ass,
(41:08):
we people for that. Yeah, I'm not sure you can
actually sue someone for stealing a fictitious do We don't
have a trademark. I don't think we have a license
or patent or anything of that. Like, here's what I
do know though, all right, here's what I do know
is you and Kevin Durant then have a lot in common.
You know, he must be very similar to you, so upset,
(41:29):
so frustrated every single time that people forget your birthday,
like it's the only thing that matters in the lifetime.
So you and Kevin Durant must have a lot in common.
If that's the case, your favorite ice cream Hogen Doss
minus the Doss. Al right it is. I'll kick the
currents here on Fox Sports Radio hour to next. Be
sure to catch live editions of out kick the Coverage
