The Michael Barry Show. We explorea theme that I think we're as a
society not talking about enough, andthat is the absolute fundamental breakdown of the
infrastructure of this country, and thatis the family. Just because a woman

(00:23):
can physically reproduce doesn't mean that sheshould be a mother. And that is
the case in that This is astory out of Houston. But like many
stories I pick from that are aspecific story from anywhere in America, whether
it's Miami or Detroit or wherever else, these sorts of things are happening seemingly

(00:46):
more often and well. Twenty nineyear old Lakeisha Williams has been charged with
abandoning a child with intent to return. This story it goes to ABC thirteen
in Houston. But wait till youhere, just wait to you this.

(01:07):
It's all the damn money of moneyand the drugs. It's just damp beyond
everything. What's it mean? What'sit leading to? I don't know.
If you'd have told me twenty yearsago, i'd see children walking the streets
of our Texas towns with the greenhair bones and their noses, and it

(01:29):
flat out wouldn't have bleak signs andwonders but I think once you quit here
in, Sir and ma'am, restof them to fallow. Oh, it's
the tide. It's the dismal tad. It is not the one thing,
the one thing. Signs and wonder, Sir, Mam, resters, signs

(01:49):
and wonders. It's the disal powder, signs and wonders, signs and wonders.
I saw you all only see here. On thirteen, a mother is
accused of ditching her children to goon vacation. ABC thirteen was there as
the twenty nine year old mother wasbrought into the Harris County jail after she

(02:10):
was arrested for leaving her young childrenhome alone while she went on a cruise.
Our Jessica Willie is live with theunbelievable allegations. Jessica and Mida Lakeisha
Williams was arrested around five thirty tonighthere at her luxury apartment building in the
Memorial area. According to Precinct five, the mother flew to Miami last Thursday

(02:30):
to catch a cruise to Puerto Rico, leaving her young children home alone for
five days, and it would havebeen longer had neighbors not been paying attention
from all you can eat buffets aboarda cruise ship to the back of a
Precinc five patrol car. Lakisha WoodsWilliams is accused of abandoning her children.

(02:52):
The twenty nine year old mother wastaken to jail tonight. The details of
the allegations almost hard to believe,so that don't even make sense, that's
right, Bill. According to courtrecords, neighbors at William's luxury high rise
apartment building, the McKinley, soundedthe alarm. They said they saw the
mother of two children leave with luggageand bags last Thursday, April fourth,

(03:13):
and never return. On Tuesday,Deputy constables with Preatinc Five responded to a
welfare check at her apartment and foundher eight year old son and six year
old daughter home alone. The unitsmelled of urine record state and was in
disarray, with trash and leftover foodstrewn about, and they told the deputies
their mother had left to go onvacation on a cruise. These children were

(03:37):
definitely left unattended for many days andput in serious harmfully. Williams is charged
with abandoning her children with intent toreturn. Deputies did find a web camera
and cell phone that the children saidtheir mother used to check in on them.
Is that sufficient? Absolutely not?Prosecutor Keegan Childers says, there is

(03:58):
so much potential for danger for themto provide for themselves, feed themselves,
take care of themselves as well asyou know, what if somebody breaks in,
what if there's you know, abad neighbor, any number of horror
nightmare scenarios that could come up.Firefighters found the kids to be in good
health. CPS released them to theiraunt, who declined to comment. But
otis Darjine just a curious onlooker, and father himself had plenty to say,

(04:24):
like that's a child, So thatdon't even make sense, Like why would
somebody leave they child? They youngkids behind like that? So that mother
she's going to vote, she cansue you, she can come in your

(04:46):
business as a customer. What doyou think we would know about Lakeisha?
What kind of behaviors you think sheengages in? Kind of decision making do
you think she undertakes? You know, you can afford to have a tiny
little percentage of your population just absoluteand complete trash, But there comes a

(05:06):
point where you collapse the system whenyou have too many, and it sure
seems like we're approaching that point.Would you want to hire that woman?
Think she might be a problem ifyou did. I don't know how old
is old enough for kids be lefthome alone? But I know six and

(05:27):
eight, ain't it. If youlike the Michael Berry Show and Podcast,
