(00:00):
The Michael Barry shoe. Oh wegot a phone that lost a leg to
a rattler. Okay, you havemy attention, Mark, yes, sir,
Okay, tell me about your story. Well, Michael, I was
born in nineteen sixty three. Igot rattles they did in nineteen sixty six.
Down there flashes. I was holdingmy dad's hand, me and my

(00:23):
brother looking up at some burden thatsays early spring, you know, right
before they come out, and i'dain't cut my leg off. Then I
had a sister in Indianason at thetime with leukemia, and she was up
there, and I had a parentdown here with me in the hospital and
glacis now I don't know. Ispent about three months in the hospital.

(00:44):
They did some drafting, and thatfoot growing up through high school and stuff,
never grew much. The leg wasshorter. I was seen in high
school. Leg was real small. My short leg, you know on my
leg was real short. Have abit if i'd go. I don't know
if you remember the old Shamrock Hiltonthere in downtown Houston. New Kirk Shoe

(01:06):
was there. That's where I gotmy shoes and my braces and uh,
and that went on and I endedup getting married. And Uh in nineteen
eighty six, I see that guyin the sea drift there in See.
He got bit when he was fiveand they put that leg his leg and
ice impacted ice down the slow thatI know you mentioned about don't don't free.

(01:30):
But anyway, they screwed his legup and they had to imputate it.
And I met him through my wifewhen I was dating her. There
in sea drift hell, he wasrunning around getting long, I mean water
skin running. I saw my doctorup in Houston about uh, doctor Hanson.
I said, man, I'm goingdoctor Johnson. At the time,
I said, I want to cutmy leg off. He said, well,

(01:51):
you need to think about it.And I said, I already thought
about it. He's gonna take twoweeks. I just schedule two weeks and
have it got off. That's whatwe did, and I've been running and
walking ever since. I fly helicopter. A friend of mine is Richie to
be here there? Yeah, onthe show. They sure was. I
heard it, and I had somebuddies. Hey, Richie's on the radio.

(02:13):
I said, well, I'm listeningto him. I'm over here in
the d in a cornfield and Iwas working on my colvator. I'm a
colivating corn right now. But hyeah, uh, I do everything,
you know, don't feel sorry foryourself. You know, people call me
stomped and and all that stuff. It don't bother me, you know.
And I I talk to people thatare fixing half of their legs cut off
the diabetes. I said, look, it's whatever you make of it,

(02:36):
you know, just taking your head, you're gonna get up and walk and
walk, you know. And youknow I enjoyed just having fun with it.
All the kids, you know, parents said, well this is one
happened if you play with snakes, you know. I'm you know, played
with the kids on the leg andall that stuff. But I mean,
I can't cry about it. It'sjust a big intervenience when I get home

(02:58):
at night. Take a shore ofthat. With the inconvenience with other than
that, they gon bout Mark.I'm trying to wrap my worms around this
on my head, around this one. How come you to have cut off?
Was it causing you that many problems? Yes? Well you know how

(03:21):
kids growing up I was, Ihad my current. I had a turperature
of the spine because you know, all these years with that build up with
that leg there newkirts. You know, I was always favoring that leg and
walking funny. And you're talking aboutfights. You know, kids are mean,
And I tell my grandkids, Isaid, I said, look here,
popall you know it was crippled allthrough school. And my grandkids are

(03:45):
big. Their daddy's big, sothey you know, I said, you
take care of you know, there'sa little kid in their classes, got
some problems. I said, youtake care of Noah. You know,
people gonna make fun of him.I said, you know, I've been
making on all my life, growingup through school. But I didn't let
it buy. I just fight. You know. You know, Michael t

(04:08):
has always had a heart for kidsthat get picked on, whether because they're
regarded disabled, whatever their thing is. And I would hear stories from parents
because if you're the parent of thatkid and you know, this big black
kid steps in and tells all theother kids, you're not going to pick

(04:31):
on him. That's my friend, and this will never happen again as a
parent, right that. You know, that's that parent. That's a powerful
thing. And so we would hearstories that he would never tell us about.
And I don't know where he gotthat. I'd like to think I
had something to do with it,but I don't know. But it is
true. Kids can be very, very cruel, and I've come to understand

(04:57):
that that cruelty emanates from discomfort.Things that make us uncomfortable are things that
we don't understand, things that wedon't know which box to put them in.
Then what we do is we ridiculethem because it makes it. It

(05:24):
allows us to process without having toreally internalize those sorts of things. And
then you know, our own siblinghas that condition, or our own child
has that condition, and then allof a sudden, we go, well,
maybe not. And then you pivotright because now it's somebody you love

(05:46):
that is retarded or disabled or fillin the blank. Interesting how that works.
I was talking earlier about these womenwho the reason and all these boys
are on ADHD medication and they're goingto therapists and all this, and it's
the educational system is all women, and it's usually women without kids. They've

(06:09):
never raised a child themselves. Andtheir answer is basically one flow of the
cuckoo's nest. Lobotomize these children withthese powerful drugs. And Sandy Peterson was
pointing out this study that Jordan Petersonquotes half of all women over thirty have
no children. The educational establishment isall women with no children, penalizing boys.

(06:32):
I'm getting emails from people with snakebite stories, and I'm not gonna
lie to you. I'm enjoying them. Can you pull Mark Rack up?
Mark? I'm here. Michael. You know that story about you having your
leg cut off when you didn't absolutelyhave to. Yes, it reminded me.

(06:57):
Ramon. You remember that real prettylittle blonde girl that was at the
Boston bombing. So I had awoman on the show, young lady,
more of a girl to me becauseshe's so young, and she's a cute
little blonde girl. And she hadbeen at the Boston marathon. And what

(07:19):
was the story? Did she haveher kid with her? There was somebody
else with her. Maybe it washer boyfriend at the time, I don't
remember. Anyway, So the bombgot her pretty good because they had designed
this thing with a bunch of screwsin it, and it had torn her
one of her legs up, Imean just tore huh. Rebecca Gregory,

(07:43):
how do you remember that? Sheis hot? So we had her in
studio and when she walks into yourpresence, she is so striking in her
good looks that it's almost jarring. And then we had her in for a
long time. I mean it mighthave been the entirety of the show.

(08:05):
And her story mark was that, you know, they thought she was going
to be able to save the leg, and she was determined to save the
leg. And honestly, I thinkit was something like twenty something surgeries and
then the last one was staff setin or some some kind of infection set
in, and they decided, youknow, look you need to make a

(08:28):
real tough decision here, and shedecided to have her leg taken off and
I think it was was it belowthe knee romo? I can't remember,
but I feel like it was belowthe knee. And then she had a
prosthetic, so we talked about herprosthetic. Ramon stroked her prosthetic, but
it was just prosthetic, so itwasn't anything creepy. And then we asked
her to take it off, whichshe did and she hopped around and then

(08:52):
we got to hold it. Itwas a whole deal. I mean,
it was a it was a itwas a it was a to do as
we say, Mark, it wasa big to do. Yeah, Mark,
Ramon wants to know what they didwith your leg? I asked that
to the doctor. I said, what'd y'all do to my leg? With
my foot? And he didn't saynothing. He resold every boy the bed

(09:13):
there. I had to cut offthere to Skirlock Tower on a Monday and
uh the doctor come in and sawit and everything and and uh, I
said, what do you do onmy foot? And uh he did,
said there and he walked over thattrash. He's got that foot pedal.
He just stepped on that pail onhis leg, came up on. Show
some respect for the man's foot, ain't it. I don't know what they

(09:39):
did with it. Listen to thisMark Hello named Michael Leach. That's like
Mike Leach. It's like coach copperheadbite Mark. At the end of every
sentence, you give me a uhokay, yeah that w pause, and

(10:00):
you give me an unh. Butnone of the uns can be the same
and they can't be more than onesyllable. Okay, you got the game,
yep, Okay. It's like alittle acknowledgement bitten by a copperhead last
spring, m home alone about elevenpm. Oh, awakened by thunder and

(10:28):
rain hitting my metal roof, jumpedup to make sure my truck windows were
up. Yeap, went outside inmy flip flops and was bitten by a
copperhead that had taken shelter under mytruck. Oh, let me tell you,

(10:52):
the pain is no joke. Wow. I thought my foot would lit
open. The swelling and pain wasso bad. Drove myself to the er
in Lagrange, left footed in abad storm because I didn't see the snake

(11:13):
and feared it was a cotton mouthmhm. Doctor verified it was copperhead,
and they gave me morphine, heldme for seven hours, gave me a
pair of crutches, and I droveback home left footed. Oh took me
nearly a week before I could hobblearound painful that copperhead. Well, hold

(11:43):
on, you didn't do anything topainful. You didn't do anything to painful.
Oh, okay, that concludes ourpresentation. Okay, Yeah, the
copperhead I got bit on my hand, and Mark, let's get it able
to call up and tell us aboutthe time they got bit by poisoning a
snake. Seven one three nine, nine one thousand, That'll be fun seven
