Speaker 1 (00:01):
In a happy Friday friends, Welcome to the thought shower.
Intern John is my name, first and foremost. Let me
say it is album release say as a me recording
this which is early in the morning on Friday. My
album is number three on the iTunes charts, which is crazy,
it's exciting, it's very humbling. If you had a chance

(00:23):
to get the album, thank you. If you hadn't had
a chance, please please. We are trying to get this
thing to number one in the world, which will be crazy.
Also raising money for the Fisherrouse. So it's very simple.
On the iTunes charts, all you have to do is
search intern John. So you open up iTunes, you search
intern John. That's how you get the album. It's six bucks.

(00:46):
Or you can go to internjohncomedy dot com get it
there as well. It's yeah, it's a lot, it's a
lot to take in. It's a lot of process. It
was a wasn't planning on doing any ship this year,
and then of course had a breakup and had some
other things go on. All right, maybe we should try
to flesh out our feelings this way. Is that even

(01:08):
the right phrase? That didn't sound right. We'll take it though,
and recorded the album. The album was recorded back in June.
I was dog sick. I was so freaking sick. I
had food poisoning like really bad that week, to the
point where it was like every ten minutes I had

(01:29):
to go to the bathroom. And then before the show,
like there's no bathroom backstage at that venue, so I
would be laying down like in the fetal position, crying
basically before the show, and then go do the show.
If it was any other weekend, like if we didn't
have the comedy shows. Let me let me phrase that.

(01:51):
If I knew that we weren't recording the album and
if we hadn't sold out like four shows, I would
have canceled the show for sure, because I was like,
this is miserable. However, because we were recording the album,
I'm like, listen, we got no choice until he pushed through?
Is it the most heroic action of all time? Who
am I to say? You know? For me, it was

(02:13):
no kidding, but yeah it was. It's been a it's
been a ride, it's been a journey. When I look
at this past year, tons of I guess, one big
down obviously, but a lot of ups though too. You know,
when you look at the timeline of breakup. Announced in January,
did the trip I was supposed to do my ex
in March, announced the tour in maybe June, sold out,

(02:37):
then as well opened up a bar in the meantime
one podcast of the year, which is very exciting. And
then now having the album out, which is it's scary,
it's nervous, all these things. It was weird driving to
work today and listening to my comedy album Crazy Crazy Crazy.
If you had a chance to buy it, thank you

(02:59):
if you I can, says please. It's six dollars. Helping
out the fisherile, especially this time of years, is a
massive thing with Thanksgiving, with Christmas. I'm making sure these
families are taken care of. So you open up the
iTunes iTunes sore you search intern John. You can buy
the album there or go to internjooncomedy dot com. Click

(03:22):
iTunes again. The goal is to make this thing go
number one internjooncomedy dot com or open up the iTunes
app search intern John. I want to get to this
for here Friday. The mindless purchases that are a total
waste of money. I'm doing this as a way to,
I don't know, help myself too. I've been trying to

(03:43):
get better at spending money. I'll do really good for
like a week or so, and then it just gets bad,
you know, starting with single use kitchen gadgets. One hundred percent.
I remember ahead next girlfriend, it is like, you need
an avocado slice, so I but I have I have
a knight that thing broke right away, or banana cutters

(04:04):
or strawberry hollers, whatever it is. They say. The list
of kitchen gadgets the only do one thing goes on
and on. They seem handy, but for most of them
they just end up taking space in a drawer. One
hundred percent. I remember too, samex girlfriend years ago, there
was like this device that made healthy ice cream. How

(04:24):
they did it was you took a frozen banana, you
covered it in a cocoa powder, you put it through
the machine, and it was used maybe three times. I
tossed it because I'm like, this is literally no use.
There's nothing else I could use for this. I get
that to you also, just like it saves space to
have something that can be used for more than one thing.

(04:45):
Bottle water, damn, they say bottle water is one of
those sneaky expenses that adds up. With reusable water bottle
and decent filter at home, you're all sent. Now only
will you save money? Can be better for the environment
as well. I mean I try to, Like at the gym,
they have like the refill things. I'll get like a
jug and Eric got me a nice jug for my birthday,

(05:07):
and I'll refill at work. I'll refill at the gym.
My biggest hotel hack is if you're going to a
hotel that has a gym, they probably have the water
filter there, so you can go fill up your water
bottles in the hotel gym. I do that all the time,
even if I don't plan on working out, just to
get that fresh water, you feel me. Daily coffee shop

(05:27):
runs yeah, yeah, they say the latte or fancy ice
coffee is delicious. Probably necessary also in the easiest ways
to watch money fly out of your pocket. I can
imagine me. I know, like on days that we order
in breakfast to the station, it's it can be like
fifty dollars for the show. I'm like, this is a lot,

(05:49):
a lot of money, and I don't wonder how much
it is for the year. Hell no, but yeah, that
adds up or if we get delivery, delivery fee taxes
all that for sure, this diner brand basics, they say,
spending big bucks on plain white tea's or basic socks,
the fancy label is never worth it. That is true.
That makes a lot of sense. Like a T shirt

(06:11):
that is says lousbaiton on like the the sticker maybe inside. Yeah,
it's like nobody's gonna notice it. That is a huge
waste of money. If like one at targets like three dollars,
you can't tell there you go, and this one's big too.
Pre Cut fruits and veggies, yes, yes, they say that

(06:33):
pre cut produce is super convenient, but you're paying a
markup for it. With a few extra minutes, you can
chop up fruits and veggies on your own. Yeah, I
understand that, I get that, but it is the convenience.
It's kind of meal prep services, although I feel like
those now are kind of more on the it makes
sense side, but still it can cost a lot of money.

(06:55):
Cable TV packages. I recently had to like change that up.
I'm saved like one hundred dollars a month, they say,
with so many streaming options available, those huge cable bills,
it might not be worth it anymore. Also to because
I on my Xbox used to be able to watch TV.
Then they change it so they couldn't watch TV, and

(07:15):
that like basically took that TV I commission, So I'm like,
why am I paying to not watch it? The fancy
gym membership they say, high end gym memberships might feel
good for the first few weeks, but if you're not
making it to the gym, often that's down money down
the drain. I will say with that, I at least
try to do like all try to go every weekday,

(07:38):
so at least it evens up. I'll do the math
on like how much it's cost me per session? You
know what I'm saying, No doubt they say. Disposable razors,
Oh no, they say, buy a new disposable razor every
few weeks. Might seem like a small expense, but adds
up over time. Investing a quality razor with a placeble
blaze is cheaper often gives a better shave. I don't

(08:00):
think I've ever had a legit razor. I've always used disposable.
I don't know why. I think it's just easier. That's
just me. Whatever, premium gas for regular cars. That makes sense. Yeah,
if your car doesn't specifically acquire premium gas, stick with
regular I think that's fair. They say. Many folks think
premium make the car run better, but for most vehicles

(08:22):
it's simply unnecessary. I don't know much about cars. Again,
that makes sense. I wouldn't doubt it. Also, extended warranties,
they say stores love to sell you on extra warranties.
Most of the time, I'm not necessary. Electronics and appliances
from reliable brands tend to be durable without the added coverage.
I noticed that too, Like sometimes rent a car and like, hey,

(08:43):
do you want to add this type of protection? I
asked my buddy Ones who worked in the rented car business.
He goes, don't do that. You already have car insurance.
I was like, oh, okay, there it is. I hope
you have a great weekend. Appreciate you listening to thought
