You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. What Up America, Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio brought to you by Farmers.
At Farmers, we've seen almost everything, so we had to
cover almost anything. When it's game time. Having experienced player
help you stay ahead of the game, but their experience
in a play at Farmers dot com are Farmers. I

(00:43):
want to get to this college uh at admittance scandal
upcoming in the show. I hate to say I told
you so, but I told you so. The most valuable
part of the UH college scholarship is never discussed by
anyone outside of this guy, this guy right here, UH,

(01:04):
and it's come to UH, it's come to a head
with this scan it which doesn't really affect sports that
you watch or pay for watch on TV, UM, but
it it it only only kind of pays off on
my point that I've made four years. We'll get to
that up coming in the show. Brady Quinn, who new
Fox College Football in studio analyst, will join us in

(01:25):
the show. Plus he covers of the Nation Football League
for Fox, will be doing in studio for college football
games for Fox. Uh. Fox TV. He'll he'll join us
upcoming about twenty minutes. We'll get his thoughts on free agency,
what it means we wait on Levy on Bell. Uh.
The Anthony Barr thing is interesting? Does that effect Levy
on Belt and um? Why all these teams that traditionally

(01:48):
spend money year after year, teams that spend the most
in free agency don't get the most return on their investments.
So we got a lot to get to our guest,
Brady Quinn. Marcus Thompson from the Athletic Governed the NBA
con Borrowin's gonna join us free agent linebacker for We'll
see and then t J. Houshman Zada will join this
as well. Man, we got a jam pack show, a
lot of football for you upcoming some hoops as well

(02:10):
with Marcus Thompson. Let me start with hoops last night
in um in Utah as the Oklahoma City thunder go
into Utah and we by Now, I guess if you
watched Sports on TV, you've seen that video. Correct, You've
seen the video of Russell Westbrook saying I'm going to

(02:30):
uh yeah, Well listen, here's Westbrook and his wife in
the stands told me uh to get down on my
knees like he used to do for me. And that's
just completely disresprinful to me. Um, I think it's racial. Um,
I think it's just inappropriated in a sense of um,

(02:51):
there's no potention for the players. Here's what the fans said.
He told Westbrook word to him and everybody in the
vicinity'll say. And she never left her seat, never said
a word, hands in her lap, never said a single
swear word to him. Not long. This was Westbrook after
the after the game. Oh so you had heard as

(03:14):
this is as actually Westbrook during during the game, what's
called on tape. So look, it's an ugly, ugly situation.

(03:43):
And and here's what's interesting is because our predetermined biases
James Dolan's a horrible guy with the Knicks, that he's
a terrible person for basically walking over to a fan
who told him he needs to sell the team and say,
enjoy watching on TV and trying and kicking the guy out.
Russ to Westbrook is some sort of hero because he's
getting heckled from the stands and he threatens to f

(04:06):
somebody up in their their wife. Look, I don't think
when you say that you actually mean bodily harm to
a woman. So can we can stop that? But I
also think that like can we can? We can we
dispense with the idea that Russell Westbrook is only in
the right here. I will, I will, I will honestly
admit to you, and I tweeted this out, is that

(04:29):
there's a reputation in the NBA, a preordained reputation that
Utah has racist fans. Now, if you if you go
back and look like it's pretty interesting. Actually you go
back and look Jordan's last shot Game six of the
NBA Finals, when he holding the follow through and he
pushes Brian Russell and by Brian just gives a nudge

(04:51):
to Brian Russell who goes to the ground. He shoots
kind of a step back jump shot, holds the fallout.
Remember that shot essentially the last real shot of Jordan's career.
I don't count the way struoge deal. If you look
in the crowd behind there, there's not a black face.
There's just not there's not a doesn't appear to be
a Hispanic face, doesn't appear to be an eric Bic face,

(05:13):
doesn't be already anything be other than a white face.
Like there's we we stereotype people and you stereotype, Well,
Utah's all white people. It's not. But if you look
in the stands, there's not a lot of people of color,
and NBA players believe they believe, whether it's real or

(05:34):
whether it's imagined, that Utah has a higher percentage of
racist fans than others. Now, I find the whole thing,
the idea that somebody is a racist, that comes to like,
you're paying money to see mostly black athletes, like the
NBA is a high high percentage. I don't know what
the percentages now African American, right, um, maybe higher if

(05:58):
you're paying your good hearted money and I don't, I
wouldn't understand the logic. I don't understand the logical racist anyway,
but I definitely don't understand the logic of racist paying
money to see people of color play basketball and cheer
for them or cheer against them like that. Just the
whole thing is odd to me. But there there is
a sense in the NBA there's a belief that Utah

(06:21):
has racist fans. Um. I don't know if the guys,
if those tweets are real about his feelings coming in
about Russell Westbrook, but I also know that Russell didn't
know that when he's arguing with the fan. But the
people who say, well, he's not safe and he's standing
up for himself, Look, here's the reality. First of all,

(06:45):
what are you doing engaging with a fan? What are
you doing? And if you want to engage with a
fan because he said something vile, just go to security,
which is right behind the bench, and just say that
guy and that woman and guess what happens. They're gone.
Anybody who tells you NBA players are not empowered to

(07:07):
protect themselves, that's simply not true. They don't have to
have a reason. Go and look at the back of
your ticket. They can kick you out for any reason.
They kicked out Charles Oakley and you're like, well, that's
the owner, the owners, the players, the coaches, they have
the power to go like him, her gone? Why because

(07:27):
they said some things that are inappropriate. That's all you
have to do. And guess what happens. Maybe they get
mad for maybe other people get mad for a second,
but they're gone. They're gone, They're ejected from the arena.
That's it, and and all you do. Look I do,
I do. I think fans are aline. Of course I
do a sports radio show. I have sports opinions, and

(07:48):
when I say them, I'm told that I'm an effing idiot,
or I'm I'm even I'm even worse. People are vile,
especially when especially when there's twenty rows of people between
that men the athlete, or when when they're on a
computer screen. We're not a computer screen. Message boards. Hell,

(08:10):
Jim Row made up made a career out of having
callers call in and rip cities, rip athletes, rip each other, right,
and it's it's kind of funny. He he doesn't do
it much now. I don't if you know, if I
gotta listen to the show. But I know he stopped
doing it because I think he finally got a little
bit of a conscious about like, I don't know if

(08:30):
I want to do that. What happens is we we
we make people empowered by giving them the chance to
have their voice heard on social media, and then we
get a little bit appalled by their empowerment and their
entitlement and uh and the vileness by which how they
how they speak to one another. Russell Westbrook is not

(08:54):
written the right in here. The two wrongs don't make
a right is in fact a old as time saying,
is it not? So? Even if the guy said what
he's alleged to have said, which is gross and is inappropriate,
let's let's not act like. Let's let's not act like

(09:16):
it's cool that Russell Westbrook, who has the power to
simply eject people or has could have the self control
to not pay attentions in the right here, Like really,
that's what that's what got under your skin. Or it's
more likely you've been to Utah. You feel like they're racist,

(09:36):
you feel like they step over the line, and you
got and you're already a little bit edgy because that's
how he plays, and he actually Russell feeds off the
negative energy of opposing fans. That's who he is. Like
all right, I get all of that, but you gotta
drop f bombs and make kind of and when I

(09:57):
say fake tough guy, like he's not coming after a guy. Like,
let's just stop with the Russell Wilson and Russell Westbrook,
Like Russell Westbrook is not going malice to the house.
You know why because he's probably worth a billion dollars
when you get down to it, between his fashion line,
his sneaker deal, and the two hundred plus million dollar
deal he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder Like all right,

(10:18):
maybe uh five million dollars, if not a billion dollars.
He has so much more to lose than he has
the game by knocking a sucker fan out. He's not
going after anybody. So what are you doing. You're only
hurting your brand, You're only you're you're you're sitting there

(10:40):
saying they're getting to you, which people are going to
yell and scream more. And it doesn't make it right.
But all you have to do, all you have to
do is one not pay attention and too and if
it does bother you, then just go to securit and
go him her gone. And do you think the security
guard is gonna go no to Russell Westbrook, a perennial

(11:02):
All star former m v P No this act like
there's again, I don't want anything to happen to an athlete.
I think fans are, in fact bio. I generally side
with Russell in the idea that I understand why even
though there's no ratio context and there there was probably
a little bit of a back and forth before it.

(11:23):
Probably stepped over the line. That's how most things occur.
I'm look at if you're bothered by okay, but don't
sit here and act like you need to curse somebody out.
You make yourself look bad. Well, you're defending your family's honor.
You don't need to do that. Him her, gone, that's it,
end of story. We move on. You know, this isn't

(11:46):
a This isn't a soccer player who got punched on
the pitch by a fan who ran on. This is
some idiot heckling and yelling and thinking that he's part
of the game. And because Russell responded, he became you know,
you respond to him. It's a gonna crank come up more.
But okay, guys, stepped over the line. Fine, there's if
you look at the video, there's a security guy right
behind the bench. You just simply go to him. Go

(12:08):
that guy and that late lady, goodbye and you know what,
nobody steps over the line. And again, I just I
don't know how we've gotten to this place where everybody
is a complete and total victim and too wrong suddenly
make a second wrong makes you right? It doesn't. Whatever

(12:28):
the guy said clearly irked him, and if he felt
like he was inappropriate, like, it doesn't give you the
power to tell you somebody to f off? What? What?
What world do we live in? It's not Russell's a
bright guy and a prideful guy, but this is the
wrong path. Threats that you're not gonna pay off on
don't make you look tougher, makes you look sensitive. You

(12:52):
know to be sensitive. You can sit there and just
go okay, bye bye, and then oh yeah, by the way,
you can point to the score board because that's the
ultimate tail and the thunder won the game. Brandy Quinn
joins the show. Next, we'll get his thoughts on the
free agency moves to the National Football League? Where does
Levy on Bell end up? Plus he's a new studio
host for college football on Fox. What does he think

Bertie Quinn is a new in studio analysts for college
football on Fox. Of course, that's gonna be on Big
Fox Big Show every Saturday. He's been covering college football
for Fox for years and the Nash Football League as well.
You can hear him every Sunday here on Fox Sports
Radio eight pm Eastern Time to five pm Pacific alongside
Jonas Knocks. He joins us on the Doug Gotlip Show
on Fox Sports Radio. UM, let me start with the

(15:21):
the Kyler Murray breakdown. You've been a first round traffick,
you played in the NASH Football You evaluate college players
as college players and pros as pros. What do you
think Kyler Murray in terms of how he'll transition to
the Nash Football League. Well, I think he's a first
round talent. I'll just start off by that, right, You've
got a showcase and demonstrate the ability to make all

(15:43):
the throws. I think he's done that during his one
year starting at Oklahoma UM and and and he's accurate
enough I think to get a jot done. He has
the arm strength enough to to get it done. And
then he's got this ability to create and that's something
that's becoming more and more prevalent now, Doug, more so
than ever because of the I can development of offensive lineman.
And also I just I just think overall the discompity

(16:04):
between the talent of the athletes on the defensive line
versus the guys on the old line. It's just a
huge disadvantage. So you've got to have a quarterback who
can move, who can do some things, and really threatened
teams with the ability to run every once in a while.
Doesn't have to be every singull game. I mean, there's
there's there's there's guys that can still do it purely
from the pocket like Brady, like Breeze, but you know
those guys still have to move within the pocket to

(16:26):
make throws um and I think Calin miller Moi demonstrates
the ability to due all on that um my hesitation.
It's not so much about the height. It's about whether
or not he can withstand up beating and the pounding
that you take, especially when you go to a bad
team at the top of the first round of the draft.
And then on top of that, I said this during
the course of the combine week. You know, one of
the things that you saw when he gets um in

(16:48):
the in the pocket, when he gets pressure sometimes is
you know, for example, Baker Mayfield and ran the same
system two years ago, was the number one overall pick.
He would move to throw, He would move into the
pocket to throw the football. That translates the wells the
NFL level um Kyler Murray moves to go. He moves
to then get outside the pocket and then run. And
typically see quarterbacks when they own are extend the athletic

(17:09):
or rely on that ability to run. Those guys tend
to have more injuries, tend to have a harder time
maintaining the ability to stay healthy and be the franchise quarterback.
So that that's really more that concern I think for
him and his transition to the league. Doug gottliv show
on Fox Sport Traded. That's the voice of Brady Quinn. Okay,
So if you're Arizona, you have Josh Rosen, who does

(17:30):
check a whole bunch of box in terms of what
you think a pro quarterback is supposed to look like.
Or you have the chance to draft a Kyla Murray
and trade away Josh Rosen, what do you do? Well,
I think you already made that decision when you hired
Pwiff Kingsbury. You know you you hired a guy that,
um you know, some would say there's a risk there.
He's never coached before at the NFL level. Grant, he

(17:51):
was a player on just to some degree at the
NFL level, so he does have that experience thing. He's
go ahead coach before, but at the college level. But
if you're buying into this whole idea of we need
to open some things up, we need to adapt with
the times, we need to bring in this creative offensive mind,
why would you not then give him a quarterback who
fits his system perfectly. And and they've got the ability

(18:12):
to do that because they have the first overall pick.
So if you could get something an exchange for Josh Rosen,
which I don't even know that they necessarily have to now.
I mean, look, he was drafting number ten overall. He's
got a four year deal with the fifth year option,
and I'm sure similar teams value him, and maybe even
next year, some teams were more desperate for quarterbacks, may
be willing to trade and give up greater compensation for him.

(18:32):
But there's nothing that says you can't say, calimary number
one overall, keep Josh Rosen on the roster year if
you can't get something good in exchange for him, and
let those two compete and battle it out. I mean,
there's nothing that says you can't do that. And I
also think it hedges against the risk that you know
Kyler Murray would potentially maybe at one point get it
better off from baseball that was the case, but then
you still got a quarterback in Josh Roseen you can

(18:53):
work with. So uh, I think you go with Kyler
Murray and that's what you feel like gives you the
best chance to make get the hiring of Cliff Kingsberry
worth those two things in my mind. Will Canonhan Doug
Gottlive show here on Fox Sports Radio. Brady Quinn is
our guest. Let's get to some of the free agency
moves in the NFL. Nick Foles signs with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

(19:16):
What do you think of the fit in terms of
how Nick Foles plays and how he would fit with
the Jaguar system. Well, look, I think it's a good fit.
It's obviously a need they need someone to come and
play better than Blake Bortles has the you know the
past few years now, and I think he's the guy
that takes better care of the football. We've seen him
perform at a really high level on some big stages.
Um So if you're looking for a guy to coming

(19:37):
and get you better play and that's sort of leadership, Obviously,
he's a really good guy, good locker room guy. He
fits all of those things. The questions becomes, you know,
can they built out around him enough? Can they give
him the type of protection that he needs. You have
one of the better offensive lines during his time with
the Philadelphia Eagles, he had a great offensive system, um
load with some debt, maybe not always top end talent,
but but definitely depth, and had a lot of help

(19:59):
out around him. You don't have that necessarily at Jacksonville.
So they've got to figure that out. He's gonna have
familiarity with the offense because of John D. Filippo and
his time with him back in Philly, But you know,
how much has that offense seems how much could have
potentially changed during John D. Filippo after he went from
Philly to Minnesota. Now Minnesota to the Jacksonville Jaguars will
be interesting. They kind of see how that all works out,

(20:20):
um and and so I think it could be a
good fit. And it probably speaks to the need that
that both head coach Doug Moron and David Caldwell phil
that they've got to win games now, otherwise these guys
might not be a part of the Jaguars organization. A
year from now, so they go get a veteran guy
and and really the best veteran guy. I just I
think bottom line is you overpaid if you weren't bidding

(20:41):
against anyone else. I mean, come on, Doug, you and
I have been at charity events before where we get
these live auction items. Maybe it's a trip to to
tabo or somewhere, and and you look at people going
back and full of bidding up the price of it.
In this case, it was one guy in the room
who kept bidding on it when he really didn't need to.
So uh, you probably could have got him for a
line to keeper. But nonetheless that they got the quarterback

(21:03):
that I think they need right now. Okay, so who
who has who? Who assigned somebody in free agency? Jumps
out to you as those guys know what they're doing. Um,
I mean it's tough for the quarterback position right because
I think you may see some other guys enter the
market here soon, maybe a Ryan Tannehill for example, that
you know. To me, if you're looking at Ryan Tannell

(21:24):
what he's done in his career and then what Nick
Bole has done, I have a much better idea, for example,
of what Ryan Tannehill is gonna bring to me that
I do with Nick Foles, and that could be good
and bad. But the bottom line is, I don't think
Ryan Tannehill is gonna, um would be asking for or
acquiring as much compensation as what Nick Foles just just
got you, which really fifty billion guaranteed a lot of money.

(21:45):
So um, I don't think he's potentially to be a
free agent soon. Play bowls off to you will be
a free agent soon once this this goes and and
i'd be you know, willing to say, you know, as
Nick Foles a better quarterback than play Bools. Yeah, I
think he's demonstrated that at this point, but I don't
know how much better. I mean, fifty million, you know,
fifty million dollars guaranteed better. I'm not sure there's there's
that much more than way you can get out of

(22:05):
like Borls. So I think there's some other guys. I mean,
Teddy Bridgewater is a guy that comes with risk because
of his knee, but I still think there's a lot
of optimism for what he can still be in this league.
And I think, you know, he wants to stay and
have some more stability in a good system with the
New Orland Saints. That's one of the reasons why he
decided to sign back. So I'm not sure if there's
year's free agency class is the best to use at

(22:27):
the moment only because you're going to have more guys
under the market once things kind of sort themselves out
over the next week or so. Levy on Bell is
still sitting out there. Apparently the Jets put a deadline
on him. There's thoughts that he wants to go to
the Ravens. That's because the Ravens played twice against Pittsburgh
Stealers and with Lamar Jackson get the run to football
a ton. What's a better fit. Well, the Jets is

(22:47):
the best fit because I think they've got the cap
space to pay and what he wants to uk. It
doesn't make a ton of sense to to you know,
bringing a high priced running back who really is best
serves you because he's a mismatch out in space. Uh.
In the passing game, when you've got a quarterback like
Lamari Jackson who is still developing as a pass and
really is let to loll and typically you've got the
ability then to bring in some other running backs for

(23:09):
somewhat cheap and be able to make your running game
work because of his ability in the running game. So
a little surprising there. I think mark Ingram could potentially
be a fit there to in Baltimore, So I'm not
even sure that opportunity would really be there for him.
I just think this is probably shocked because of what
happened with the Anthony bar Um and basically deciding that, yeah,
you take a little you know, a little less money
to stay in Minnesota, to the hometown discount, to to

(23:31):
you know, to do his career there. And I'm sure
that showed the Jets a little bit. Let's not forget
last year. Um, if you'll remember, the Jets were the
team that got up to ninety million guaranteed in the
negotiations with her cousins. Yeah, it's crazy, right, this is
something that's popping to Mike mccack and often, Yeah, No,
I mean he'll he'll he'll end up, He'll end up

(23:52):
kind of getting bit up. That's that's that's what feels
like is gonna happen. What about Antonio Brown? How hard
is that if you're Derek Carr, when you have a
guy who bailed on his team because he couldn't get
along with his quarterback and and and probably want a
new contract as well, and then nypalmed everything. Uh, if
you're Derek Carr, what do you think of having Antonio Brown,
who's a supreme talent but obviously a guy who's empowered

(24:15):
by these power moves. It's about managing him. I mean,
it's about managing the personality and managing the player. And
I think that's easy to do when things are going well.
It's just the really more comes down to adversity. And
and you know, last year is early the first sense
of adversity that Antonio Brown, how with Ben robinsbrog and
the Steelers in regards that not making the playoffs and

(24:36):
not having them as much success in that way. So
I'm gonna be curious to see how it works out
with the Raiders this year if they're not even going
to be a team that has a winning record. Um,
So that's obviously one concern. But you know, look, my
approach was always this and I had a couple of
guys who loved getting the football, and honestly, I love
the fact that they were passionate about it. Um. But
you've got to realize in the course of a game,
that's not the time to get into a confrontation with them.

(24:59):
You My whole thing was and even if the ball
hit him right between the numbers, I would say, look,
I could throw you a better pass, you know, just
trying to deflect, trying to take some of the frustration
off of their shoulders and let them know that you're
gonna come back to them, you have confidence in them
and that they're the most um. So how Derek Carton
mentiones that relationship and manages especially those situations and games

(25:21):
when they're they're the most high stress um scenarios, You're
you're gonna be really dealing with how he handles that
is largely gonna dictate this relationship. I think with Antonio Brown,
during the course of the week, you can kind of
pick your moments. Then to have more critical conversations during
the course of Sundays. That's when it's really gonna take
a lot of Derek Carr's attention as to how he's
handling things with Antonio Brown. Great stuff as always, Brady Quinn,

(25:45):
who you guys are going after going after the big
boys right with the new the New Studio show. You
fired up for college football Saturdays. Yeah, of course that's
great opportunity. We're looking forward to it. Obviously missed a
minimus calling games with my buddy Joe Davis and Bruce Felman,
our producer Bo Garrett, But great opportunity. And look, yeah,
someone's gonna compete with them. You can't just leave off
the hook and let them if you can just have
this pregame show. But but to me, it's about this, Doug.

(26:07):
I think we look at the NFL pregame show for
Fox and and obviously they're those guys are incredible, and
I think, you know, Fox is looking and saying, how
can we create something similar to that at the college
football level. And and that's why I think this is
more about, you know, trying to create a show that's
gonna be educational and fun and informative, um to lead
into some some really good games that we've got coming

(26:29):
up this year for Fox. No question, we have the
great games with with the Big ten and the Big
twelve and Pack twelve. It's phenomenal and you guys do
a great job on Big Fox leading into all those games. Brady,
thanks so much for join us. Look forward to hearing you.
Uh this Sunday on Fox Sports Training every Sunday with
Jonas Stocks at eight eastern, five Pacific. Appreciate you be
our guests. Thanks shoving me Doug great day. That's big you.

you to Dan Buyer. Find out what else is going
on the world sports Dan updating. Well, I can tell

(27:11):
you this much. Levy on Bell remains a free agent,
but it seems like his options continue to dwindle if
you will, as there were reports that it was down
to the Jets and Ravens that could be interested in
Bell services. But the Ravens may be out because they
have a serious interest in mark Ingram, the former Saints
running back. According to the NFL Network, now Ingram is
not going to go back to New Orleans after the

(27:33):
Saints today came to terms on a deal with free
agent running back Latavious Murray, also backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater
staying with the Saints despite getting a larger offer from
the Dolphins. According to the NFL Network, it was a
change of plans for Anthony bar the free agent linebacker
is not heading to the Jets. Instead, he had second
thoughts and will stay with the Vikings on a five year,
sixty seven million dollar deal for the linebacker as he'll

(27:56):
reportedly get thirty three million dollars in guarantees. A couple
of other notes in the NFL to pass along. Veteran
free agent linebacker Thomas Davis is joining the l A
Chargers after fourteen years with the Panthers. Brown signing free
agent defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson and the Packers were busy
signing three defensive players to multi year deals. Edge edge
rushers as Zadarius Smith at Preston Smith heading to Green

(28:18):
Bay as his former Bear safety Adrian Amos. Packers also
inked offensive lineman Billy Turner to a deal. College hoops
a CC Tournament Miami Top Wake Forest today seventy nine
is seventy one at the half. Notre Dame leads Georgia
Tech in first round play fifty two to thirty two. Doug,
I've got a college basketball question for you in about

(28:38):
ten seconds. But first a word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance.
We know every windshield collision has a unique sound. Beetle
bird boop, drone seen it covered it, dr Farmers. We
are Farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance Exchange and
affiliates products unavailable every day. So, Doug, my question is this,

(29:00):
is Gonzega good for the West Coast Conference anymore? Because
they are so good? Like I was, I was just
talking with the guys during the break and I'm watching
last night they dominate Pepperdine in advancing to the finals,
Like there's no way any other school will ever like
make a Cinderella run because Gonzega is just so darn good.

(29:21):
Are they are they too good? Is that good for
the West Coast Conference anymore? It's a great question, I
think one that they pondered, and they they toyed with
the idea of joining another league, maybe joined the Big East, um,
you know, as some league where they have to get
on it. I just don't know what their options are really.
What are they're like people like, well, they should be

(29:42):
in the Pactic, Like they don't have football and they
can't compete in other sports in the PAC twelve nor
his Pact twelve. Really they don't actually want them. Um,
I think they want them for basketball. I mean that
would be a smart I mean the Mountain West has
talked about it. That would be smart for them to
to to go. Uh that that was that was the discussion.
Um yeah, Look, I just think those those I'm I'll

(30:05):
actually tell you what's what's bad for the league. B
y U should be better. I love Dave Rose, very
nice guy, cancer survivor, and this is the first year
he hasn't won twenty games, But b y U should
be better. B y you should be at a higher
level than the rest of the league, and they are not.
Saint Mary's has competed with Gonzaga. Their problem is this
is just kind of a down year. They still won
twenty games. Um yeah, I mean, look, Pepperdine should be

(30:28):
Pepperine used to be right up there. They never they
have been a little bit new gym, but location wise,
Pepperdine and Loyal Marymount they should have better players than
they do. They should have better teams, and I think
eventually Romar will get them closer. I I don't think.
I don't think. I just don't think there's an option
out there that makes a ton of sense. Um Mountain

(30:48):
West would make a lot of sense to the Mountain West.
They don't know how that would make a lot of
sense to Gonzaga. I do think that road would be tougher,
even though the Mountain West is not very good this year,
going into Albuquerque, going into Reno, going into I guess
that would be that would be harder on them, whereas
now they kind of get to pick their terms, so
you know you and LV was like this back in
the old Big West in PC Double A days. I

(31:10):
don't think it hurts them, and I don't think I
don't think it hurts the league. The league needs to
do better out of their conference, and then they could
have multiple bids again. Sure, it was just it was
domination again. And it's either, as you said, it's either St.
Mary's facing Gonzaga in the title game or b y
U these last couple of years and this time around
again at St. Mary's. But the other you know, the
San Francisco's, the l m Use, Pepperdines, they just don't

(31:31):
seem to have a shot to break through. So no,
I mean and you and you look um if if
you uh, if you look at um. I mean Portland
even won a game this year. But I don't know
if you've seen this, like, look, this is the they
have faced, uh say B y U or St. Mary's

(31:52):
every year since was a two thousand and eight right,
and Gonzaga has been in the championship game every year since.
What is this looking at these since that's crazy, right,
that's aso San Francisco and ninety eight they beat uh

(32:14):
Santa Clara, that was their first great team. Uh, and
then they won four in a row. Then they lost
to San Diego. My boy Jason keep who I think
sin jail, he's a teammate of mine local the state
let San Diego that that game was played the Jenny
Craick Pavillion the slim Gym to an upset. Then Gonzaga
one four in a row, then San Diego one again,

(32:38):
then Gonzaga, then St. Mary's, Gonzaga St. Mary's, and then
it's been Gonzaga the last six years and there and
you know, pretty much alternating between B y U and St. Mary's.
So yeah, I mean like, look, they've they've taken it
to a completely different level of this last seven or
eight years where they just had better players everybody else
in the league. So I don't know it's gonna be

(33:00):
can be super interesting, U super interesting to keep an
eye on. This is the Doug got Leap Show here

You know what I said in regards to Russell west
Brock's really simple. I don't have any time for hate speech.
I don't know. I think the guy thought he was
being cute and clever. I really do. When you listen

(34:02):
to the guy afterwards, you know, he thought there was
some sort of back and forth between him and Westbrook
and they were engaging in some sort of trash talk.
And I'm I'm also willing to admit that while the
guy may be a complete schmuck, uh, there's a there's
at least a chance that Russell Westbrook didn't hear exactly
what he said, and he likely overreacted to it. Like

(34:22):
these are reasonable things, right. It's a stadium full of
eighteen thousand people, it's loud, guys are yelling stuff at you.
You're yelling something and you get misheard and he freaks out. Um,
And and you have to remember that NBA players walk
in with this idea in their mind that Utah fans racist,

(34:45):
but they do, and that's that's what they enough of
them believe. And I think that's what Russell Westbrook thought,
all right, That's what that's what he thought. And you know, like,
I'm I would be very careful about anybody racist, because
I've been called a racist for it's laughable and it's stupid.
But once you get called it, like we're supposed to say,

(35:06):
you're supposed to say, I love the love the like
our white entitlement, that's what it is. Why didn't white
privilege like, Hey, but I played basketball. I'm a six
ft Jewish kid from Orange County who got in trouble
Notre Dame. You don't think people have hurled insults at me,
whether they're anti Semitic or just anti me whatever. I've
had Bill yellow and it it'll stay in all hurt um.

(35:31):
And you you basically when you're in college, you kind
of have, you know, you kind of have three things
you can do. You can let it bother you and
eat up at you, or you cannot let it bother
You can ply straight ahead, or you can ply straight
ahead and let it fuel you and then hit a
bucket and turn around, as I did. My first year

(35:52):
out of college. We played on they should have these
travel ties tour teams, and you play against some of
the you know, we played U C. L A, we
play Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, North Carolina. I played on
three different teams who played lots of schools and I'll
never forget. I was playing for a team athletes, first
Christian based organization in Oklahoma, and we went and played

(36:12):
a bunch of schools in state of Texas, played SMU,
TCU Texas State, which was then Southwest Texas State. Um,
we didn't play I don't think we played Texas, but
we did play Texas Tech. And I mean, you know,
Texas Tech has some vile fans, man they have, they
all do, but Texas Tech is more kind of known
for it in the Big Twelve, having just a and

(36:33):
it's the same place they played now. United Spirit Arena
was only like two years old then, and I'll never
forget that. I had some guys just tackling me and
I hit a jump shot in the first half and
I turned, I held up like my right hand to
block off so you couldn't see it, and I gave
him the finger running down the court, and um, one,
I let him get to me, so they were on me,

(36:54):
and then two I got taken out of the game
because the guy who ran the organization was like, hey, dude,
we don't do that. Does on how we roll? And
so I'm I'm sensitive to Russell Westbrook, like dude, like
when did it be? Oh? He stood up for himself, like, yeah,
I don't know. That's I guess. I guess. Like all
you gotta do is go like him her Gon goodbye.

(37:17):
That's it, you know, And if you want to, but
you don't, you don't have to match fire with fire
because we don't hear what he said. That becomes that
he said. He said, we heard what Russell Westbrook said.
Not a great look. Let's get to a game, Sack.
This is game time, Tide on the Doug gott leap shot.

(37:40):
You might not be able to get a new car
with your tax refund, but you can't make your car
feel like it's brand new. All it needs a great
paint job. Come into Make Go today and get your
dream paint job during their text season sales event, Dan Barrow,
what's the game, Doug? The game today is? I remember
in seventh grade when Robbie Savaski flipped off the opposing
bench and our coach made him the ladders at halftime.

(38:01):
So yeah, you're gonna pay for your consequences when you
respond to that. Heckling, Doug, what are the chances Levian
Bell goes to the New York Jets. What are those chances? Um,
I would say I think there's a sixty percent chance
he goes to the Jets. I just look, there's not
a lot of bidders out there. I just wonder there's
all this talk about, well there, you know they didn't

(38:22):
get Anthony barrs, you're gonna throw in more money? Why
if they're bidding against themselves. What are the chances that
Odell Beckham Jr. Gets traded by the New York Giants
Because there's more talk Josina Anderson of ESPN saying that
one a f C North team has inquired about oh
b J recently. I think there's a sevent chance he

(38:42):
gets trade. There's enough smoke, there's that, there's fire there. Uh,
there's you know Colin talked about he wants to go
to the Rams or we'll go to the Niners. Um
I just once she started talking to a divorce attorney,
it's pretty hard to put that genie back in the bottle.
What are the chances that Teddy Bridgewater becomes the era
pair to Drew to Drew Breeze in New Orleans after

(39:03):
turning down a deal from the Miami Dolphins. Um, well,
I think he'll be the backup quarterback. I don't know
if he'll be the heir apparent. Um, what are the
chances that he's the air apparent or that he's the
backup there, that he's the air apparent, that he's He
reportedly turned down more money from the Dolphins to stay
in New Orleans. Sean Payton has said in the past

(39:23):
and comments that Teddy Bridgewaters likely to be a guy
if they could keep him around. But I would say
there's a chance of that happens. All right. What are
the chances that Russell Westbrook gets suspended for his verbal
confrontation with a fan last night in Salt Lake City?
It should be, but I don't think the chances are strong.
It's Adam Silver, right, Adam Silver is super super pro player,

(39:47):
and I think because there's assumed racism there, uh and
because he um. I would say, now, did Kobe get
suspended when he yelled a slur? Schell? I can't remember
if he gets suspender or just fine. I can't remember
because I'm gonna I'm gonna say, uh, thirty five percent

(40:09):
chance that he's suspended. Okay, let's let's go to college basketball.
What are the chances that the a c C gets
three number one seeds in the n C Double A tournament. Uh,
there's like a fifteen percent chance because you still have
Tennessee out there, you have Kentucky out there. I selink
Michigan's got a shot at Michigan State one of those

(40:31):
one of those two. Um, I don't think Texas Tech does. Uh,
they did, you know, because they lost it. They lost
a duke although you know they were outstanding in the
non conference otherwise than went won the won the Big twelve. UM.
And then you have Gonzaga who's gonna get one. So
you got Gonzaga is going to get one. That would
mean that no one from the SEC gets one, like

(40:52):
fifteen percent chance. Finally, Doug, what are the chances that
any of these four schools Belmont, Lipscomb, UNC, Green, Spurro
or Furman get an large bid after they lost in
their conference tournament? It only asked me one, just one
one of the four? Okay, alrighty five percent chance growing

(41:13):
and they have uh five more days to to wait
and find out if they get in or not. That's right,
this is game time on the Duck Gottlieb Show. Um,
it's interesting. So there's this new scandal right where um

(41:35):
college administrators and college coaches. But we're not talking about
basketball or football coaches, but Olympic sport coaches have been
accused and some have pled guilty already to taking bribes
in order to get kids into school. It does kind

(41:56):
of reiterate my point about college athletics and the true
value to a scholarship, which no one else is talking about.

(42:41):
UH Conference Tournament play is underway for the a c
C Tuesday games. Lake Florest already home. Georgia techts working
their way home as well as they had cut to
lead the Notre Dame lead uh to I think thirt team,
but now it's back up to seventeen. But to have
your season over when you're a high major program on

(43:02):
Tuesday of Championship Week, get out and get some new
dudes in a hurry. You know. There's a lot of
talk and we'll get to the one thing. There is
one thing about free agency that you need to pay
attention to, and we talk about it all the time,
but never has been more apparent than what the Detroit
Lions are doing. We'll get to that upcoming. But there's

(43:24):
a lot of talk about athletes and they're assumed value
because of their name and likeness. And Mark Kuban has said, hey,
basketball players should go to the G League, which they've
been able to do and better and profit off their
name and likeness. I would encourage them if they want
to to go ahead and do so. The difference is

(43:44):
that I I personally believe and I think I think
it would prove out that your likeness is more valuable
when it's tied to the brand of a major university.
When you play in brand like March Madness in the
a C. See you're the big twelve, the Big Ten,
all of us playing against the big name coaches and
big name players. I personally believe that's ingrained in our

(44:07):
brain that if Zion Williamson was playing for um, you know,
pick a G League team, he would still be progressing
along the path being an NBA player, but he would
have no sort of name value outside of when he
was a YouTube sensation, much like mc McClung the White
Kitten Georgetown. But I guess time will tell. But but

(44:33):
there's there's a part of the whole college discussion the
value of a college scholarship, which I think it's completely undersold,
and it's this, what is the value to getting into school? Now?
I know we've all grown up under this idea that
if you're a good enough at sports, they get you
into school, and to a certain extent, there's some legitimacy

(44:56):
to it, although the n c A has made it
more and more difficult to be eligible right away, and
schools have made it more and more difficult to get
into their school, although there are exceptions for athletes. But
here's the point. Today, there is a huge, huge scandal
that has broke and it involves Hollywood, involves Yale, and

(45:18):
Texas and U C. L A And Stanford. None of
their at least to this point, I haven't seen maybe
Dan buyers as some of the stuff have been coming down.
None of it involves the men's basketball coaches or the
football coaches. It doesn't, which is interesting because with their numbers,
you think, well, it could. There's there's a reason why

(45:41):
this is happening. We'll get to it a second, but
by the basic premise of it is that there are
rich parents that want their kids to get into some
of the elite schools, and they're willing to do whatever
it takes to get them into those elite schools, and
so they'll pay a couple hundred thousand dollars to the
coach to get that kid as an exception to whatever

(46:02):
that you know, hey, we're this is a recruited student athlete,
and though they might play the sport, they don't excel
the sport enough to truly be but they get earmarked
for special admittance. And you've got parents paying in the
five six hundred thousand dollar variety to get their kids
into one of these schools. Two kids, one kid, two

(46:25):
kids actually paid six dollars total, like five dollars to
the university and then um another hundred grand or so
to a coach, and they didn't even apply to Stanford,
but the idea they wanted to be able to get
into Stanford. Now, look, um, I know that that we

(46:47):
all think that college athletic departments are just rolling in cash.
It's not really the way it works. They have cash, yes,
but they spend it, they absolutely do. They gotta spend
it to hold onto their coaches, their strength staff. They
got to spend it on all the other ancillary stuff.
And they also have Title nine. They have to pay
these Olympic coaches, but they don't pay him a ton
of money. And so obviously if you sit there and

(47:07):
you go, okay, this kid doesn't have to be my team.
I just have to earmark his recruitment to get into
school and I can make a couple hundred grand more
when I'm under compensated to remain here as a as
a coach. Again, I don't think it's okay. These men
and women will likely go to jail for taking bribes
and it's kept legit. Students off of these off these

(47:30):
campuses are you know, not gotten their special admittance into
into schools. But I do understand the Hey, you're paying
a soccer coach a couple hundred grand to live in
southern California and coach use Shell a men soccer and um, yeah,
I mean it's a really hard thing to turn down
a couple hundred thousan dollars and all you have to
do is say, yes, we're recruiting him as a student athlete,

(47:51):
mark his admittance and stuff. Now there's some other sinister
things where they're paying money to have other people take
their s a t tests, bribing proctors, whatever it takes
to get their kids into elite school because in their mind,
just like and look just like in preschool, elementary school,
high school. To get in these elite schools in major

(48:12):
cities across the country, the hardest thing to do is
to get in, which is was and has always been
my argument for you know, we're not actually giving colleges
enough credit for allowing us, and I'm as a former
student athlete into their schools. We're not really equipped, we're

(48:32):
not really ready. We may be very very studious student
athletes grew very student but we're not we're not really
ready because we you can't if you really want to
be an athlete and get prepared to be a collegian athlete.
I gets I just I found found it very difficult,
and I had a good g p A. I had
a very good s A T. I got a Notre Dame,

(48:52):
and I pride. I wouldn't got a Notre Dame my own, now,
do you see, I wouldn't get any selling my own
and Virginia like come on, And it was easier then
than it is now. Now it's nearly impossible. And so
my point is very simple. You can tell me that, hey,
guys are getting a bad end of the deal. The
reality is they're getting a great deal. We only concentrate

(49:13):
on room board, tuition, cost of attendance, sneakers uh, cost
of travel, not paying any taxes, you get per diem,
you play for great coaches, you have great facilities. Oh yeah,
they get you free tutors and all the best classes,
and you live in the best dorms. Like we almost
focus on that. But maybe the most valuable part of

(49:36):
playing in college is not even the brand that you're
associated with in playing for that school, or the fact
that you're part of a basketball or football family. It's
just getting into college is hard enough alone. And if
you don't think it's difficult, why the hell would all
these people pay five six dollars get their kids in
school if it was so easy? Yes, rhyme music. Have

(49:59):
you now your daughters aren't quite there yet, you're still
kind of just dealing with the whole high school thing.
But have you heard about any of this type of stuff?
What lengths parents will go to just to get their
kids into college. Before today's scandal came out, Um, I
had not heard of this. I mean I do know. Like, look,
my my dad, my late father, UM, what he would do,

(50:23):
he was a former college basketball coach and a YOU program,
And what he would do was he would have kids
send him their tapes and evaluate them and say, look,
I think your kid can play at Division one High
major major low major Division two high major major low
major Division three and a A whatever, um, and we'll

(50:44):
put together highlight table and put him on our team.
We'll get him, you know, get him seen by the
right schools, and then you know, you pay me for
my assistance, and then if your kid lands at said school,
you'd pay me as well. It's not the school is
the parent totally legal paying for it, and and and
his pitch was simply like, look, a college scholarship can
be worth five dollars and a lifetime of benefits. So

(51:05):
if you're paying me, and I don't know what he charged,
but it was several thousand dollars, if you're paying me
that like it's worth it. So yeah, I do know, coach.
You know everybody holds their kids back. Now, um, everybody
has their own workout, coach, but what were you referring to, Well,
because somewhat not quite to this extent obviously where it's
like they're faking like their athletes just to get in.

(51:26):
But I had one of my best friends when we
were doing the whole college thing. His mom was meeting
with some adviser and I'm sure you know, paying who
knows how much money. And I remember when he told us, Hey,
I'm going to Kyle poly Slow. We were like, oh, wow,
that's great, Like, you know, it's a good school, really
hard to get into, and he was smart, he got
good grades, but it was still surprising. And he's like, yeah,

(51:48):
I'm gonna be a construction management major. And we were like, what,
like never once talked about that being something he was
interested in and we're like, what's the deal with that?
And he's like, well, my mom she met with this
at Isser and they have like a whole breakdown on
if you apply to certain universities and claim certain majors
going into it, your chances of getting accepted, just like skyrocket.

(52:13):
So it's pretty interesting, how like obviously this whole bribing
people is on a different level, but there's all sorts
of different ways that people try to back end their
way into getting into certain universities. Well, look, we've seen
this before with it's not just necessarily just bribing people.
It's you know, you you put your name on a building, right,
somebody you know, a millionaire, you know, a millionaire ten

(52:33):
times over it gives a million dollar donation to put
their name on a building, and not only do they
get benefits and they get to you know, a suite
at the football stadium whatever. But hey, I mean I
want my kid to be able to get into school here,
you know, um or I want to I mean, look,
there's there's there's kids on teams as as as walk
ons that don't belong on but they're there because they're

(52:54):
their parents are a booster and it's it's totally it's
like legal bribery. Uh, this is just hardcore payola, right,
Like I got a private account, put it in and
then there's some of this donation. But yes, people, some
of that smart you know, I mean you do once
you're in school. I'm not a marketing major. Why because
it was easier than general But general business you had

(53:14):
to take finance twice, you had to take stat twice,
and marketing was a lot of theory and a lot
of oral presentations. Yes, please, where can I sign up
for that? One of my favorite parts of this whole
little sting that happened was I don't remember specifically, but
it was like one example was they were trying to
tell people that the daughters or sons whatever were rowers,

(53:34):
and they took pictures of them on like a rowing machine,
not even actually like out on a boat. I just
found that to be hilarious. Just no, I mean the
whole thing is I mean, part of it's funny, and
then part is like, damn, like this is why I
didn't get into school. You know, there's so many people, Yeah,
this is why, this is why I didn't get into school.
And I think that's I think that I think the

(53:57):
whole thing is fascinating, and uh, it's kind of the
the CD underbelly. But like USC is a perfect example.
Some of these US some of these are USC coaches
right in the USC Assistant Athletic director has been implicated
as well. But USC, when I was a kid, you
just needed bees and cs to get into USC. That's

(54:18):
what it was. And um, the difference is the difference
now is because USC became super popular the film school,
but really with the football team changed it, it's very,
very difficult to get into and they just have such
so many UM applications they can charge whatever. So in
addition to pricing out the market with sixties seventy dollars

(54:40):
in terms of tuition, room, book, board, whatever. Also, you
know they have a hundred thousand applicant institutes, you know,
ten thousand people from or five thousand people from and
so they can they can charge you what they want
and then they can get the best of the best
of the best, because everybody wants to come to USC,
come to Los Angeles, come to film school there, watch
football there. It's crazy. The whole system is nuts. Marcus

to my man Brian BARRONI UM. His dad Tony was
a longtime coach Texas and Amy coach in the Coach
in the NBA's and assistant. He's head coach at Creighton
coach Benoit Benjamin at Creighton, and Brian played from a
texts A and m uh as traveled kind of mercurial road.
He actually Brian Wardle, who uh joined us yesterday. Bradley's

(56:55):
head coach. Previously employed him at u W Green Bay
and I think it at brad as well. He's assistant
Southern Illinois Edwardsville and has just been promoted to being
their new head coach. So congratulations go out to us
here at the Doug Gallup Show. Pretty cool stuff. When
some of your friends contemporaries start to um, start to
get gigs, get there, get an opportunity, especially if you

(57:17):
know anything about his path. It has been a mere
courier one. By the way, Georgia Tech has cut the
lead to three points. Dan, are you watching this game
at all? I know you've got a bunch of stuff
going on with NFL things. Um, this game was, oh,
I mean over and now all of a sudden, Georgia
Tech comes stoning back. They're now down three points. Notre
Dame was up twenty at behalf and actually just a
few minutes ago, Doug about the I don't know, two

(57:37):
and a half minute mark. I think it was about
a seven or nine point game. So another you know,
just piece by piece, bit by bit, Georgia Tech has
gotten back in it. Yeah. Georgia Tech, by the way,
another really really really hard school to get into, really
and Notre Dame really really difficult school to get into. Uh,
it's kind of exciting to keep an eye on. Marcus

(57:58):
Thompson joined the show really from the Athletic covering the
Golden State Warriors. I don't know if you guys saw
this staff, but five in two thousand sixteen, five of
the top ten teams who spent money in free agency
missed the playoffs. Another two lost in the wild card round.
The best finished who was the Falcons, who spent the
sixth most money. Of course they went to the Super Bowl.
Should be pointing out that the Falcons reworked their defense

(58:20):
that year and it worked. I get worked, um, But
the biggest change was Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. But
the defense was fast and athletic. Four the top ten
teams who spent the most money on free agents missed
the playoffs in two thousand seventeen. Best finished with the Patriots,
they spent the tenth most money, lost the Eagles in
Super Bowl. Last year's seven of the top ten teams

(58:41):
in free agency spending missed the playoffs. One additional team
lost in the wild card. The Saints spent the fifth
most money, lost in the NFC Championship game to the Rams,
who spent some money, but on on a couple of
big ticket items. Big ticket items. Um, so I I
look it's up. It's a buyer beware thing. How many
times have we seen the Washington Redskins, How many times

(59:06):
we've seen them spending free agency as they went got
landon Collins and not live up to any of the
preseason height. The Albert Haynesworth deal obviously comes to mind.
And I understand that we get excited about somebody else
coming to our team, that we've seen stars somewhere else,
But it's really really, really hard, really hard to find

(59:31):
that right fit. Tom Talasco joined us yesterday, and I've
I've often said, hey, um, there's gotta be a rabbi
in the room, right, Gotta be a rabbi in the room.
Rap A rabbi means somebody who believes in you, will
stand on a table for you. Go take this guy.
And he said, like, look, there's take a listen to

(59:51):
what Tom Talasco said about having knowledge especially in a
position coaches uh position coach who recently coached a free agent.
Most of these players, the information would have on them
is all from college. Once they signed with another team,
you don't really know them as much as they grow
through that other team's roster. You gotta make sure they
fit with your team, fit in the locker room, fit
your scheme. And that's a big part of regency is

(01:00:13):
making sure those players fit. But yeah, having somebody that
has a working knowledge of that player, and a recent
working knowledge is a big help. Yeah, So when you
when you see Matt Patricia signed a couple of Patriots
or former Patriots and Dannie am Dolo. I thought danniem
Dola would sign with the Arizona Cardinals just because he's
best friends of Cliff Kingsbury. Um, when you see a

(01:00:37):
guy signed with Matt Patricia, you know what that's about, right,
you go out and get a talented linebacker like like
the Lions did from the Patriots. It's Patricia not just
wanting to bring in their culture, but also he knows
how he fits in, he knows how he works, he

(01:00:57):
knows what kind of guy he is. Maybe even more
telling is when, UM, even more telling is when you
a guy doesn't get an offer from a former coach.
What was the man buy? Are you know this because

(01:01:18):
you're from Wisconsin? I know you're a Seahawks fan. He
became a Seahawks quarterback. What's the guy's name? He's a
Packer quarterback, Matt Matt um huh. The same year that
they drafted Russell Wilson, they signed a free agent quarterback
from the Packers. He was Flynn. Matt Flint right, So
Matt Flynn was the backup quarterback of the Packers. He
threw five six touchdown past his last game of the

(01:01:40):
season against the Lions, and his offensive coordinger, Joe Philbin,
went to become the head coach of the Dolphins, and
Joe Philbin didn't sign him, and so everybody's like, oh, well,
if Joe, I mean, I thought, if Joe Philbin doesn't
sign him, but you know, he doesn't have it, and
that's exactly what the case was. Fair. Well, I think
it's fair. All right, let's get an update. Let's get

(01:02:00):
an update on this uh, this game. It's still nutting,
but it looks like Notre Dame is gonna hold on right, yes, yes,
seventies six seventy one with under twenty six seconds to go.
Notre Dame has the lead. Now Georgia Tech is gonna
have the basketball, I believe, but the point is Notre
Dame up five under twenty seconds to go. Actually, no,

(01:02:22):
Notre Dame did get the basketball. We're followed, so now
they can really put it away with a couple of
free throws to end the game. ACC tournament first round play,
you'll have the second round play and then you'll have
the quarterfinals coming up on Thursday when Virginia North Carolina
and Duke are all in action earlier today in Charlotte,
North Carolina in the first round of the SEC Tournament
in Miami. Top to Week four is seventy nine to

(01:02:43):
seventy one tons going on in the National Football League.
We start in Minnesota because Anthony Barr is going back
to the Twin Cities. The Vikings linebacker at second thoughts
about joining the Jets. He'll now stay with the Vikings
at a five year deal with sixty seven million dollars
and get thirty three million dollars in guarantees. Saints reportedly
came to terms at a four year deal with freed
running back Latavious Murray. Cornerback Bradley Roby gets a one

(01:03:07):
year deal to join the Houston Texans, while the Rogers
Staffold Era is over with the Rams. He's going to
get a four year deal to play for the Tennessee Titans.
A couple of other notes. Fregient linebacker Thomas Davis is
joining the Chargers, Browns on freegi defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson,
and the Bills have added a couple of free agent
wide receivers and John Brown and Gold Beasley, and the
Broncos and Falcons will play in the Hall of Fame

(01:04:12):
I just, I'm just this is a it's a huge,
like non sports, non basketball story. Have you seen this
scandal with I mean ridiculous amounts of pay for kids
to get rowing get on on on rowing teams and
soccer teams and lacrosse teams across across the country. Yeah
that's wild, right, Yeah, yeah, it is nuts. I saw

(01:04:34):
this line. It's one thing to have helicopter parents, nothing
to have helicopter parents who actually own helicopter. It's just
it's amazing what money can do. And it's uh, I
think it's quite interesting. As much as people put into
like you know, try to stop affirmative action and all that,
it's like, man, we got we got people out here
and hustling people in schools now, Like I mean, all

(01:04:56):
I'm saying is I'm trying to get rich so I
can pay for my daughter, That's all. It's it's amazing
how hard it is to get into college. Where'd you
Where did you go to school? Clark Atlantic University. I'm
aware of what Cark Atlanta is. I don't know if
other other people are. It's just any a really really
good one. Is it harder now to get into than
it used to be? Oh yeah, it's it's it's super

(01:05:18):
popular now. Atlanta's just like driving area, you know, so
Atlanta's cranking, So it is pretty hard to get into.
I think when I went it was kind of starting
to be the buzz and now it's like something everybody's
kind of gotta go to. I mean, everybody wants to
go with Marcus Thompson went um okay, so yes, yes.
It seemed for a period of time like the Warriors

(01:05:42):
had figured out all right, let's hit the on switch
and let's play, and then they lose it home to
the Suns and Clay starts getting on the fans like, yeah,
you guys could at least stand up, like all right,
what what? Why? How did they hit this low? I think, man,
I really do think they're trying to like like all right,
let's let's go, and it's just not it's not there yet.

(01:06:05):
They actually started that game well, they were by like
double digit points in the first quarter, I think, like
and they just kind of fell apart. I think they
just got too comfortable. I really do believe that this
is less about them not taking it easy or not
really going that hard, and more about everyone else has
a pretty good game pun against them. Everyone else is

(01:06:27):
shooting the reason going small, and whatever advantage they had,
it's just not really that significant anymore. And then they
still have more talent. In the end, it's gonna be
tough to beat that team four times. But man, the
objects in the in the rearview are closer than they appear.
So I think they're trying to say, let's just let's
turn it up, let's go. It's that time, it's twenty

(01:06:48):
games left, it's fifteen games left, and it's not it's
not quite clicking like that. And then you gotta do
like Devin Booker when a game is closely to just
hits eleven eleven in a row. As you know, they
didn't really do anything about it. So I do think
we're seeing like the reality of a team that's been
doing this for five years now and this is getting
harder and harder. Well, I I actually thought, and and

(01:07:11):
this is revisionist history. But one of the things that
people miss on. Everybody says, hey, Kevin Durant joined a
seventy three win team, Like, look, we gotta remember they
were awesome team the year before that, and they didn't
they didn't play staff and those guys and a lot
of Steff didn't playing a lot of fourth quarters. They
rested him for the Plas and that year they went forward.
There are a lot of teams tanking, but They're also
the field was starting to catch up to them. People

(01:07:32):
were starting to play a little bit their style, and
so they had to get better. That's I mean. Remember
the Thunder almost beat them, had him down three games
to one. So they added Durant, lost their lost some
of their bench um, and you know, I had to
had to get rid of Bogan who was I mean,
I know they brought back now, but as a vital
part of what they did, Harrison Barnes was a young player.
I thought they needed Durant just as much as he

(01:07:54):
needed them. Is that fair? Absolutely? It was clear Cleveland
and Oklahoma City laid out the blueprint right. Remember the
death lineup lineup has swept the league, and then teams
started getting their own death lineup and it was working.
So Kevin Durant was the stay ahead of the curve move.
If they run it back, they've been a great team. Right,
there have been a contender, but it wouldn't have been Yeah,

(01:08:17):
we got this, it's over. I think Kevin Durant was
the move that kept them ahead of the curve this league, Man,
it doesn't take long. These are smart people who are
paid well to figure out how to defeat a team, right, Like,
it's not you don't get the whole this role forever.
You gotta make some changes, okay. So so so then
they bring in DeMarcus Cousins and my fear, I feel

(01:08:38):
like it's been realized. But you you watched them every day,
you cover them every day. My fear was, you know
when they're great, it's when they played small and Marcus Cousins,
well that that eliminates that, and it's another guy you
can attack defensively, right like last year when when Iguadala
was out in the playoffs, whoever replaced Iguadala, Jordan Bell,
Kevon Looney, Quinn, Look when he was in there, Like,

(01:09:01):
whoever was in there, that's who they were going at defensively,
Like we found our socker, that's who we're going at.
And or you could try and wear down Staff as
well and and go at him, but it's really whoever
replaced him. Now they're going at DeMarcus, and DeMarcus has
He's always been kind of a go to guy on
bad teams offensively, So whenever he gives you offensively, he's

(01:09:22):
he's not a not necessary he can pass, but he's
not a passer. He can scream, but he's not a screener,
so he's a scorer offensive which he kind of don't need,
although it keeps everybody aware of where he is, but
defensively it gives you a minus. How how has he
affected them positively or negatively during his time healthy playing well,
I think one of the things he's done he's giving

(01:09:42):
him some freshness, right He's given them another new element
to kind of give some novelties to the season, Like
especially when they in January where they dominated and they
went one eleven straight, like that was that was Cousins.
That was their excitement about him being on a team.
That was them wanting to get hit with championships. So
it was like a little energy boost. I do think

(01:10:05):
people have gotten ahead of themselves with what DeMarcus Cousins
was supposed to be. And really he's a matchup. He's
a matchup situation right now. He's not all the way
back physically, and what he is as a counter for
when teams switched and go at you know the pick
and roll, Like if you're gonna switch, you're gonna put
James Harden and he's gonna draw to a big guy. Well, now,

(01:10:27):
James hard is gonna have to guard Becausin's in the post.
He was supposed to be a counter to the matchup.
He's not going to be the all dominant center because,
like you said, his post game is just not as
fluid as it was and his defense is attackable. So
I do think there's gonna be some series where he
doesn't play as much. It's some matchups where he doesn't
get the benefit of the doubt in the minutes, but

(01:10:48):
then there're be some matchups where he could kind of exploit.
I think it's gonna be a player by ear. But
they they remember they were playing Nick Young because they
had anybody else, and and Cavan Looney that was it.
That's all they had. So I and and look, Livingston's
not He's had an unbelievable comeback to his career, but
he's not what he used to be. And Andre Dollar
is not what what he used to be. Nobody, no

(01:11:10):
one is. Um what about what about the Draymond thing
where they caught Steve Kerr on camera saying he was
tired of Draymond's You know what, how much of that
is just in a game, and how much is that
the reality of life around Draymond that many years, it
does just wear you down. I think it's both of them,

(01:11:31):
Like if you know them, there's a couple of that
argues and you're like, how are they together? Do you
see him holding hands at the club? Right? Like that's
who they are. They've been They've been going to each
other for years and Steve kind of gives him that
liberty to do it and Draymond is gonna dish it.
And they they tend to drive because they don't take
it personally and they can always make up. Now, I
do feel like, you know, there's some definitely wear tear

(01:11:52):
in that relationship. Right. You start to wonder how long
can it last? But they both this is who they are.
They because he each other, oute they go at each other.
They don't take any shorts. And I think we saw
a moment where Steve is like dishing it just in
the same way we can see his raymonditioning. It was
interesting to see to see that little glimpseto because Steve
Kerr people don't see his uh, his fire very often.

(01:12:16):
Um Katie has after going after was it Ethan Strass?
I think I think that's where he went after, you know,
after going after him in the press conference. He's kind
of dialed it back and we're not hearing a ton
out of Kevin Duran. He seems to have gotten back
to playing basketball. What's he been like to cover the
past couple of weeks. I mean, he's a little bit

(01:12:36):
not there right, He's a little distant. You know, his
press conferences are pretty snippy and short. You can tell
that he's kind of off the media right now and
he just wants to play basketball and he's doing his
part to, you know, facilitate that relationship. So he's definitely
different because Katie was a guy you could always chat with,

(01:12:56):
you can hang with, you go to his locker and
talk to him about all kind of stuff. You can
run ideas by him, you can question him that all
that part is out. He's very focus and don't want
to be distracted and don't really have time for the media,
which is his right, you know, as long as he's
playing well. He answers questions when during his a lot
of times when he's supposed to talk, but that's what
it is. So it's definitely different and definitely not as

(01:13:19):
fun as it was, that's for sure. Um I was
told I've been told by a couple of different players
coaches in the league that there's a perception when you
go into Utah that I'm not saying everybody in Utah
is racist, but there's some things said there that have
a lot of racial under an even and even overtones. Um,
is that an accurate perception from somebody who covers the

(01:13:42):
league on a daily basis? I think so, from especially
compared to other cities like Number one. I mean, you
don't get too many whiter crowds, right, I mean, that's
just you know, I I've told people. I've told people
to go back and look at the Jordan's shot over
Brian Russell and he's holding his fall through, and like,
try and find somebody with a face of color. Like

(01:14:03):
you just you you look at the whole crowd. You're like, damn,
there they are. It is And then all were in
white shirts too. It's like there is no faces of color.
So some of it's an assumption, but that is that
that's a that's an accurate perception that players carry in
rank question. I mean, I'm from the Bay too, you know,
we see everything, so it's it's it's definitely jarring. I

(01:14:23):
do feel like there's a different spirit inside the arena
than out of it. Right when outside the arena, people
are great, Like Salt Lake is a great place, right,
It's clean, people are nice, great restaurants, everybody's kind. I've
never had a bad experience outside the arena. Inside you
can just feel there's a level of victory. All that's

(01:14:45):
just a little bit different. Like you can tell is different,
Like they don't play about their jazz. They really don't
like you, right, like, and it's not just basketball this
is fun. It's like, no, we don't like you. I
remember covering that we Believe team and oh seven they
went there and they like Steven Jackson at all, and
it was different. It's different than the we're gonna boo

(01:15:05):
you like because this is what we do and we're
gonna make it hard for you. Is different. And Utah
it's also different Oklahoma City too, which is unique that
Russell Westbrook is there. When that Cupcake game, when Katie
went back, it was it was that same kind of
at any moment, we might rush the court type vibe.
That's what it felt like. So the vitriol in Utah

(01:15:25):
is definitely second to none. I would say that much.
Um k D was one of the first to curse
out a fan this year, just hey, I'm I'm I'm
not taking it. Um. How come these guys don't just
go like you you You're gone. Like they have the
power to go over to security and boot anybody any
time they they want to, like that is that is

(01:15:48):
with well within their rights, well within their power. How
come they don't do that? How come they have gotten
to a point which they choose confrontation. I do think
part of it is protests, right. I think part of
it is they want people to know that they're fed up.
I do think that's part of it. Like if they
just say, hey, get this dude out of here, it's
a non story. Nobody's talking about it. I do think

(01:16:11):
there's part of them in this, in this age of
free agency and player of power movement and players speaking
outgies everybody like, yeah, no, I'm not cool with this,
So I'm gonna cut you out right back right, just
as a I'm gonna reclaim my power. I think though,
if if cats start getting fine and it gets I
imagine these finds are gonna start increasing, Like you can't

(01:16:31):
have dude threatening women in the crowd, but I think
we'll get to the point where it's just can you
get that, dude. But I do think they're taking a stand.
They've taken a stand against the media, and they're taking
a stand against the fans, the belligerent ones. I think
this is players trying to exercise their power. Yeah, I
just you gotta be really careful, really careful. But they
are like one, you don't know who you're dealing with,

(01:16:53):
Like you just don't um, you don't know, like you
know you you say the wrong things, the wrong dude,
they're waiting for you at the bus after the game. Okay,
But secondly it made more important you just gotta be
careful how you're viewed, whereas I almost feel like you
don't have to walk away from things you but just
you like I almost almost think I almost think James
Dolan handles it better. And James Dolan is no one

(01:17:15):
likes him. But the idea of just like, hey, enjoy
watching it on TV because you're not gonna be here anymore,
Like that's all you gotta do. If you're Russell Westbrook,
you see a guy you don't like, he says something
you don't like, like, hey, that dude, and his wife
gone goodbye, and that embarrassment enough, We'll get everybody else
to mind their peace and cues. But is that enough though, right?
Is that enough for the human say she, you know,
to say she ate that human desire for revenge, Like,

(01:17:38):
I don't know if it's enough. It's kind of like
I have this problem with my wife. Then let me
tell you, like if you if you're a bad customer service,
I kind of want to say something, and she's like,
walk away or don't spend your money or whatever. But
I also want to say something because I don't think
you should just get away being a jerk. And I'm
spending my money here, right, so I feel that like
maybe it's not enough to have this on the dark.

(01:17:58):
I kind of want at retribution, and so that's where
you I don't think everybody is able to just not
get retribution either, Like that's a matter of like self
control and temperance, right, and impulse control. I do think
there's a desire if you say something, I want to
say something back, Like I kind of get that even
though I agree with you, you just you just can't.
And the relationship between player and fans have improved so

(01:18:20):
much from the malice at the Palace, and I think
it's it's bad for the NBA for to create that

This was Chris Carter earlier today on First Things First,
talking about Levy on Bell and how he's handled free agency.
He's had a positive drug test, He's in the drug
program and that's a part of it. I don't think
sitting out is going to help him or hurt him.
I just he should have played football last year. In
my book, that fourteen million, that's money he will never get.

(01:20:09):
I don't care what this contract is. This contract would
have been available because look at the dollars Solar capital
eight million. It wasn't going to change. Even if he
had a little injury, he still was going to get paid.
So for me, he'll never be able to get that
year back of compensation. And he's gonna get I think
seventeen million a year in free agency. If he goes

(01:20:30):
to the highest bidder, he'll get seventeen million. Does he
decided to come down a little bit to put himself
in the best situation between fifteen the sixteen and a
half million dollars? That to me, if I was with
the quarterback like Luck something like that, that's something that
I would consider because the longevity. Can I get all
this money? ESPN's Diana Rassini said on the NFL and

(01:20:51):
NFL Live that most gms around the NFL believe offers
to free agent Levy on Bell are coming in around
eleven or twelve million per year. That's obviously well short
of it. Chris was talking about or Bell once. Chris
Mortenson suggested that some NFL teams are waiting to pounce
on Levy on Bell if his price comes down with
the market slower than expected. I know some teams are
waiting to jump in there at a lower market value. Like, look,

(01:21:13):
you just run the risk of pricing yourself out and
then you chase the market. He is understand what chase
the market is the way when you list your house
and now is a pretty good time around the country.
You start to think about listening your house. March. Okay,
April is really good because people move in the summer.
You know, April May, you start listening to your house.
But if you listed for too much and then it sits,

(01:21:35):
then you get July in August, and he got you know,
forty sixty day closing after school. You're like, now you
run the risk. You're in the risk of chasing the market.
Now you start dropping your prices to to chase buyers.
And he can't sit out another year, Like, he can't.
He's got to be in camp. He's got to be

(01:21:56):
ready to go. He can't. He's got a sign soon
and get in there and started kind of getting his
body back together. So by the time you hit camp,
granted it's not til August or late July, you're fired
up and and ready to go. That's what the Fox said,
going to be fascinating. Cults are supposedly out, maybe the Ravens,

(01:22:18):
maybe the Jets. It sounds like the Ravens are a lower,
lower overall value than the Jets, and people think the
Jets are going to bid more. Because Anthony Barrs turned
to change his mind and went back to the back
to the Vikings like that doesn't make sense to me.
You still need a linebacker if you try to get
Anthony Barr. And if there's no other bidders, why would
you be against yourself? Unless, of course you're the Jets

(01:22:38):
right alright? Not coming up next Russell Westbrook or the

Russell Westbrook for responding what if I said both? We'll

interested in your response and all of our kind of

(01:23:43):
response to this. So I don't love going to sporting
events and sitting in the stands. One I don't like.
I won't. I won't. I don't do the bad seat thing.
I won't. If I'm gonna sit somewhere that's not a
great sight line or not close, it's going to be
in a box. And I don't love going to boxes

(01:24:04):
because though I love the food and I love the
ability to, you know, to do my own thing or whatever.
And I have a couple of different places where I
have friends that have luxury boxes, you don't really feel
like you're at the game. On the other hand, you
don't really feel like you're at the game. And some
of that's good. When when I when I think of

(01:24:24):
the jazz fans. By the way, this story just came
down that the jazz fan who got into it with
Russell Westbrook has been banned for life. Uh from Utah
Jazz Games. I know you probably heard that if you
listen to Dan Buyer's update. But when you think of
that guy, I think of something I've always thought when
I've been either in Los Angeles, driving Los Angeles on

(01:24:47):
a on a holiday, or when I was in New York.
This is what was that in New York like two
or three weeks ago, guys, And I was in New
York and it started to snow and no one was
coming outside, and I thought, on New York, so peaceful,
so beautiful, the brown stone buildings, cobble stone streets, the lights,

(01:25:09):
the atmosphere. How much better would New York be if
there were not so many people in it? Right? I've
I've thought the same thing in Los Angeles, like you're
on the You're like, man, you at the mountains, at
the ocean, get the sunshine, Hollywood sign streets, the freeways,
you can jam on them. How much better would l
I be if And I'm not thinking of some sort

(01:25:32):
of like, Um, I don't know if you've ever read
Dan Dan Dan Brown's Inferno. Yes, we do have too
many people, but I don't wish to put anything in
the water. And this may be a giveaway that will
keep it from having more people anyway, Um, how much
better would the world be if there are a fewer people?

(01:25:52):
And mostly because not all people, most people are pretty good.
But if we could just eliminate the A holes right
the d bees and I don't mean defensive backs, and
we just whatever that ratio is, we just take that
top percentage of people. How much better would the world be?
I remember, um, frankly music, you're not old enough, and

(01:26:18):
um ramos, you haven't traveled. You actually have not flown
on a plane since nine eleven, because it was before
nine eleven that you were married. Correct, So you you
know you have no idea what I'm right? You have
not since nine eleven. You have not been on an airplane?
Correct that? Well, that's not true. Hold on, hold on, Ryan, Ryan, Ryan,

(01:26:42):
let me just before he answers this, Ryan, didn't he
tell us the last time he was on an airplane
was when he got married. Here, here's what my guess is.
You said you haven't been on a plane, So at
some point John walked onto a plane, sat down, and
then walked off. No, that's not true. Suzanne reminded me

(01:27:02):
that in two thousand and three we did fly to
Michigan to see her sister. So you lied to everyone,
didn't lie. I forgot about that. But since then most
definitely have not been on a plane. That wouldn't be
a lie. If if he if he forgot, if he
I mean, we don't. We do not think of John
as a liar. He is sixteen years plus he's old, like,

(01:27:27):
I mean, he's impregnated his wife, which is you know
the a RPS, like he's their hero. Did it drug free?
Impregnated his wife or at least that's what that's what
he's trying to tell us. So um, anyway, my my,
my point is this, Um, if you flew around during
After nine eleven, I remember, my that was actually the

(01:27:49):
first time I got a chance to host the national
radio show. Got named Todd right all Night lived in Tampa,
did his show down in Tampa, and I filled in
for him on the first weekend of football after Night eleven.
Remember there's a weekend that there's no sports at all,
and then I think the Yankees game was the first
big one and George Bush through a through a fastball

(01:28:10):
strike whatever, and then they had football that weekend. That
was also the weekend that Drew Brees got under Drew Brees,
Drew Bledsoe got hurt, and Tom Brady that was Mo
Lewis hit Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady came in the
rest as they say his history. Anyway, I remember flying.
It wasn't just that weekend, but I flew that weekend
and everybody was so kind and for several months people

(01:28:32):
are just nice. They're just nice, and I think generally
people in Utah are very nice. I've said, it's almost like,
I don't know what the deal is the people in
Nebraska and in Iowa, but those people there just stop
it with how nice you are to people. There is
something different, whether it was the Salt the old Salt
Palace of the Jazz used to playing or now I

(01:28:54):
don't know what they called energy something console energy Arena.
I don't even know what it's called. I mean, it's
the the New Saul Palace where you taught with the
Jazz play in that there is this there's a little
bit of nastiness to it, a little bit of nastiness
to it. And it's not New York nastiness, um, because
New Yorkers can be vile vile. It's just it's different.

(01:29:20):
And I'll admit what happened last night a lot of it,
a good portion of it is there's a sense from
NBA players this goes back to when the Jazz beat
the Thunder last year in the playoffs in Utah to
eliminate them from the playoffs. Remember, uh, Paul George was
awful I mean just awful. And Russell Westbrook shot like

(01:29:41):
thirty seven times or something crazy like that, that there's
a certain nastiness to them, and they were Russell got
into it with a heckler then, but there's like racial
under or even overtones. So here was This is the
audio of Russell Westbrook yelling at the now banned fan

(01:30:02):
in the stands. Stuck gotlive show here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:30:28):
So look, that fan has now been banned. Here's the
fan on what he said after the game. And we
said a swear word to him, and everybody in the
vicinity'll say and she never left her seat, never said
a word, hands in her lap, never said a single
swear word to him, not one. So it's pretty obvious
that the the Jazz don't believe him. Whatever level of

(01:30:51):
investigation they've done has uncovered some sort of verbal abuse
to the point where they're like, yeah, you're you're done,
You're you're done. Here here's Russell Westbrook after the game.
Star was young man whose wife in the stands told me,
uh to get down on my knees like he used
to care for me, And that's just completely disrespectful to me. Um.

(01:31:12):
I think it's racial. Um. I think it's just inappropriate
in a sense of um, there's no pretension for the
players now, obviously the NBA and the Jazz by coming
down hard in this fan, there is that protection. My
point has always been, like, I think a stronger point
is just to point the guy out. You you and
you can do the old umpire you're gone, But but

(01:31:35):
you start, you start cursing advance one, it's only going
to crank it up. Now. They may not talk about
you and your knees and i'm i'm, I'm. I tend
to believe Russell. They wouldn't have gotten rid of this
guy for life had he not accurately heard what he
said and had others in the area repeated. And the
guy is probably obnoxious. And this kind of lends it

(01:31:56):
to the how much better with the world be if
they were far less obnoxious people in it? But what
do you what is the win for Russell Westbrook? What's
the win there? Because the video is the video endures.
The video is like if I'm a negative fan, I
can get onto Russell Westbrook and he'll come back at me,

(01:32:16):
which is all they want. They just they want to response.
We all learned this in media. Look, I remember I
was at I was at ESPN okay, and we used
to do these chats. Remember they used to have like
like you go online, you have like a digital chat music.
Do you ever participate in this when you were in college?

(01:32:38):
You ever get in on anybody's chat um chat session? No,
I don't think I know exactly Like you're you're basically
your online and they be like, all right, Doug Alli
is available to chat about college basketball here for the
next half an hour. Go ahead, and you start getting
questions from everywhere, right, and you can respond to him.
And I remember getting some negative questions or whatever, and

(01:33:00):
my responses were something along the lines of, hey, could
you tell your mom I left my Jordan's underneath their
bed or house right? Or when I say I want
my pizza in thirty minutes less, because like I'm just
tweaking guys, not cursing, but also kind of hey, you
want to come with me, fine, we can talk trash whatever.

(01:33:20):
And my boss at the time got y Mark Gross.
He called me and he's like, look, I would have
fired you, like fired me for what He's like, these
are are paying customers. All you have to do is
ignore them. And I was like, well, look, anybody who's
doing the chat can see these negative questions, like so
you're gonna respond to them, then they win. Don't let

(01:33:41):
them win. Don't respond to them. You're you're bigger than that.
You already you have the job that they dream of having.
And I think of that with Russell Westbrook. They're paying
to see you play. And no, it's not acceptable what
people say to other people. And at some point there
will be We saw it with one of the one
of the great bits in the history of comedy is

(01:34:04):
Bill Burr, and he had this deal at the Mount
about the mouth of the palace, and he's talked about
like for years. Guys been like, well come over here,
we'll come over here. And they went up there and
they're taking out a whole rows of people with one
punch's Russell book. Russ book of course, could whoop this dude,
Like look at him, he's one of the greatest athletes

(01:34:24):
in all of professional sports, all of it. I mean,
this guy has no chance at all none. Zip Zill
just is not. But what's what's the win in it?
Which is what my boss told me, Like what I
what are you winning? You're funnier than him. You you
can talk trash better than him. He's a paying customer.

(01:34:46):
And while you absolutely get support from jazz players and
from the Thunder and you know other players like good
for the league, and I agree, get rid of these
dudes answering their cat calls, talking back to them, cursing
at them. That is not that's not what you want

(01:35:07):
when you're trying to sell shoes with the why nots.
You can try and sell clothing. When you're trying to
sell you, you have so much to lose. If your
Russell Westbrook, and of course that's why they tweak you,
because they know you're not coming up. There's no way.
The loss is way greater than the game, as good
as it would feel. Just knock somebody out. You can

(01:35:29):
break your hand or you can break their face and
they could sue you, right, So, I just I think
the response they're just responding alone is a mistake. And
then the way in which he responded, if it's me,
the easy responses you you bye bye, and you get
security those two verbally abusive goodbye, and then you go

(01:35:53):
by your business and then you just say, anybody else
want to go home early? Anyone. It's bringing Dan Bayer.
He's got breaking breaking news from Fox Sports. Well, Doug.
The NBA has handed down a punishment punishment to Russell
Westbrook for his actions last night with the Utah Jazz fan.

(01:36:13):
Dollar fine for Westbrook for his role in having that
verbal altercation. Yeah. I don't think it's enough. I don't
think it's enough. I don't think what do you what
do you think, buyer, you think it's enough? No, not
at all, Not at all. Look, Utah, the Utah Jazz
fan is being permanently banned, not only for what he did,

(01:36:35):
but to tell anybody else, Hey, if you do this,
you're not gonna You're not gonna be able to go
in any more jazz games. I think that this doesn't
tell any other NBA player or Russell Westbrook that they
were in the wrong. No, So this is the This
is the issue with Adam Silver. This is the issue
is Adam Silver is absolutely brilliant. He is brilliant. Listen

(01:36:58):
to speak. He understands the business and all the all
the ramifications of different parts of the growing and sometimes
shrinking parts of media and TV deals and and how
we view things and where where you spend money all
that stuff. He's great, but you keep going soft on

(01:37:19):
these guys and at some point you're gonna turn off
the wrong customer. At some point you're gonna get people
to push back and go like mm hmmm, don't love it.
This is this is the path that that that that
David Stern had people they walked down after Jordan retired.
They they kind of supported false prophets, you know, whether

(01:37:40):
it was Allen Iverson, Rashid Wallace, Vince Carter, Tracey McGrady,
those are the great players in the game, and they
were hard to embrace. They just were. And the ratings plummeted.
And then David Stern's like, hey, look we got a
dressed like this is a business. We gotta handle ourselves better.
And you know, people thought it was there was there

(01:38:01):
were the cat calls that it was racist then, but
it wasn't. It was about business. I don't think this
is a good business to just slap with the with
the minimum fine, just don't. The Doug Gotlip Show is

Car is a good quarterback. Gruten's a great offensive mind.
But you gotta take into account. Man, Let's how many

(01:40:35):
off scheduled throws and catches that he had with Pittsburgh
and Ben Roethlisberger. That's years and years and years of
playing together and knowing each other. And if I'm an
opponent of the Raiders, I'm gonna double him every single
play because guess what's gonna happen, frustration, gruten They're gonna
come out and try to get him the ball. I'm

(01:40:55):
not gonna let you affect the game. And let's see
can you keep your composure? Um, what about do you
think this changes the landscape of the market for wide
receivers considering he didn't play, you know, his team's last game,
and yet you end up getting a better contract. Now
that that's not gonna change. I mean, we don't. We
don't know all the behind the scenes activity that took place,

(01:41:20):
that why he didn't play. I mean, I don't agree
with it. It's technically a playoff game and you basically
you don't play, you're not there. But we don't know
everything that that took place. That that just getting to
that point. Um, how many guys in the NFL can
act and do with Antonio Brown did and still play

(01:41:43):
in the NFL? Not very many. There. There's a very
small percentage less than one that will do it and
can do it, And so it's it's not going to
change anything, because guys, you know your roles. If you
don't have the cash in the name and you're a
great player, nobody's gonna even try this Doug Otlive show
here on Fox Sports Trader, there's discussions. Apparently the Giants

(01:42:06):
have at least some discussions on trading Odell Beckham Jr.
Um Can you can you put the genie back in
the bottle If you're the Giants and you're O B
O b J has heard his name rumored in trade discussions,
can you go like, no, no, no, and we we
we we loved you all loong. We're not gonna trade you.
Can you still make it work? If you don't trade him,
move them, move them. Look, I'm gonna give you. I'm

(01:42:28):
gonna give you a scenario. Okay, So number one gentleman says,
we didn't sign them to trade them. You don't get
married to get a divorce either, right, you don't go
into America. I'm gonna get a divorce now. If the
Giants draft Dwayne Haskins, if you know you're gonna draft
the Rickey quarterback, you have to trade Odell Beckham, A

(01:42:51):
last Smith and Cam Newton. So now I say you
draft Dwayne Haskins. You can go with Dwayne Haskins and
say Colon Barkley as the future your team. When Dwayne
Haskins is ready to take the Giants to where they
want to go, or ricky quarterbacks whoever it may be,
Odell Beckham will be in his ninth or tenth year.
You don't want that problem because now frustration really mounts

(01:43:13):
because you're going to be losing my my sick. This
This is what I would do. I would try to
trade him to the l A Raums. You get Brandon
Cooks and maybe a fourth round pick. Brandon Cooks is
a young receiver came out of the same draft. You
get a good receiver, you're getting out your division, and
he has a chance to win with the Raums. You

(01:43:33):
get it. To me, that's an ideal situation if I'm
the Giant and the rounds. The problem is, like, do
you want Brandon Cooks? Like it feels like he got
overpaid to you got a big contract. He got over
He's like, no, no, he's a number two more than
the number one anyway. You know, and look at if
you look at contract, Doug the way you guys didn't

(01:43:54):
pay Brandon Cooks is a bargain bro and but maybe
maybe he's a bargain for full reason. The Rams have
so many other contract issues. All right, what do you
think about nick Fole's going to Jacksonville. I think it's
that's a good move for Nick Foles. You really reunite
with uh Philip Filippo, who who you had coaching you,

(01:44:15):
and uh Philly he has a great defense. That that's
for sure. Now it's gonna you should have a pretty
good running game before that. It's just up the Nick Foles. Now,
will he be able to duplicate his lightning in the bottle,
so to speak, success that he's had in the playoffs.
I mean, Nick Foles has been pretty average quarterback in
the regular season, but you get him to the postseason

(01:44:37):
and he's been great. Um, they're paying them to be.
I mean, he's not making upper Ascheland quarterback money. I mean,
I would say by this year, the end of this year,
and he's going to be in a second half pere
of I just paid quarterbacks, and so he got paid
because he had great postseason success. Let's see if he

(01:44:59):
can play a full sixteen games and and just be
consistent just be You don't have to be great, but
you you gotta be consistently good. T Josman is out
of joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show. Here on
Fox Sports Radio, Levian Bell is sitting out there. Um,
obviously he has hopes of making sixteen seventeen million a year.

(01:45:20):
Diane Rassini saying she's hearing offers in the eleven or
twelve million dollars per year. Um. The Colts to this
point don't seem to be interested. We know the Ravens,
maybe we don't know what price. We think the Jets,
we we don't know what price. If you were if
you were advising Levy on Bell, what would your advice
be If you just give up fourteen millions, you gotta

(01:45:44):
you gotta chase the money. And whoever's offering you the
biggest deal, you you have to take it. You sat
out a year and you basically gave up fifteen million dollars.
You have to go to the high, highest bidder. And
if he's only being offered to eleven million, twelve million,
Number one, that's a shocker. Number two, he's much better

(01:46:05):
than that. The best running backs in the in the
NFL Ezekiel Elliott is le beyond Bill Todd Gurley in
bad order, or it's lady on bail Ezekiel Elliott Todd
Gurley in bad order. To me, he impacts the game
too much. He can run it, he can catch it,
he can pass block. I don't understand why the market

(01:46:28):
isn't there. Oh he's he took a whole year off,
he's fresh, his body is, he's ready to go for me.
I'm I'm not at a loss for words that he
hasn't been signed yet that I don't understand it. I
don't either. I would think the only logical reason he
has been signed as the asking prices too high, and
there's just he doesn't have the leverage of multiple team offers.
That's the only thing I can think of. Now. I'm

(01:46:49):
not giving him six seventeen million a year. I'm not
doing that as a but as a general manager, I
would feel comfortable giving him four years sixty million, thirty
to thirty five forty million guaranteed. I feel comfortable with
that because I know I'm gonna get at least a
good two, three or four years out of this. It's

(01:47:10):
gonna be well worth it. Like investment, in my money,
I'm gonna get a great return on that because he's
gonna be very productive. So if you can staying at
fifteen million dollar range for me le beyond Belle, it's
well worth it. Yeah, I mean it does sound a
lot like the deal that the Steelers initially offered him,
you know, going back several years ago, that that that

(01:47:31):
he's he's turned down. T Jospin's out of joining us
in the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. I
do have to hoop questions for you because your versatile dude.
First thing is the nastiest thing anyone's ever yelled at
you from the stands man. You know, I'm I'm a
trash talker, Doug. So it's it's kind of gone both
lays a little bit. But I I remember stories just

(01:47:53):
in Pittsburgh, like I would have interaction with fans and
it would give a little vulgar but I had interactions
as well, like I would I remember vividly, like giving
guys in Pittsburgh gatorade from from the sideline, Like walking
gatorade to the stands and giving it to him. I know,
if this guy's listening, he remembers it too, and but
then I've had a lot of trash talking San Francisco

(01:48:17):
and Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Um, it's just part of the course.
It's different man in the NFL, because they're far from us.
In the NBA, Dude, they're they're right up on you.
It's a different ball game, no, no question about it.
My thought on Russell Westbrook was like, look, dude, first
of all, like and look, Russell has back and forth
with guys, and if you you don't want to have

(01:48:37):
back like, don't engage with them at all. And if
you do, in somebody steps over the line, why not
just go you you You're You're gone, goodbye, instead like
you started dog custing them. And look, the league just
so you know, I don't know if you've been following
the league or the team. The Jazz banned this guy
for life. Russell only got fined twenty five grand I
just I thought the fine should have been steeper. I

(01:48:58):
think it's a bad look. I think especially if former
league MVP a guy who who, guy who in who
kind of feeds off of the negative energy like I
always feel like you either avoided and then if somebody
says someone live like you have to just get them
thrown out of the arena. That's the way to do it. Man,
that's easier said and done. Man, it's number one. We're athletes,

(01:49:19):
but we're men first, and so everybody say, oh, you're
making all this money. It's easy to say until you're
put in that position. It's number one when you when
you're playing a sport, as you know, because you were
a good athlete when competition. Once the competition starts, it's
just where where you just your whole demeanor changes your

(01:49:42):
your whole vibe, that adrenaline. And so to me, you
can talk trash as a fan because that's what makes
sports what it is, the opposing fans going against you
and trapped. But don't don't cross the line, because at
the end of the day, I'm a man. Respect that
we can. We can have the friendly banter back and forth,

(01:50:05):
but don't make try not to make it personal, because
then if you do, then I'm gonna do it and
don't make it racial, and it shouldn't be no problem.
And even if you get personal, if it's not super
disrespectful it is what it is, I'll ignore you because
when you respond, then you're going to get the guy
next to that fan, and then the guy next to him,
and the guy next it, so it just keeps going

(01:50:25):
on and on. Um. I don't fault Russell Westbrook because
it seems like people know he's temperamental, and so they're
attacking him just because they want to get a response
now because they've they've seen on TV. Oh I say
something to Russell, He's gonna respond. And so I don't
know if the fans should have been banned for life.
I don't agree with that, but I think he should

(01:50:46):
have had some type of punishment for life. I think
that's a little too harsh. T Jospin's out of joining US. Um.
How much do you blame Lebron for the downfall of
the Lakers this year? Man? And you know gets uh,
that's tough. How can you blame you know what it is? Man?
Stars get too much credit in too much blame? Man? Um,

(01:51:09):
Lebron has played well, Yeah, you would have not liked
it to get out that, Oh we're trying to trade
our entire team for Anthony Davis. Um, But too much
is given much of expected when if you can't deal
with they're trying to trade you, if you're that sensitive,
to where it bothers you. Something is wrong. Okay, you

(01:51:30):
look at them. They want to get rid of me.
Looking on the bright side, another team wants me, um.
So to answer your question, I don't blame Lebron. Any
sports you play that's not boxing, their tennis, you need help, um.
When they beat the Warriors in that finals, Kyrie Irvy
and I thought should have been the m v P.
He hit the dagger of the shot, but they gave

(01:51:51):
Lebron all the credit because he's the best player. That's okay.
It just goes to show you you need help in
any sport where you're not playing by yourself. So I
guess the thing though, is like, look when he gets
hurt and he kind of separates from the team, shows
up late to games, shows up with wind in his
hand at games, you know, and does and then you

(01:52:12):
and then you factor in. All these dudes are up
for trade, to trade for one of his boy's clients.
Some of it he's buddies with. He's openly opined with,
like you have. You end up having no relations and
then you're not playing defense and not given the same
effort and energy you used to at the defensive end.
I think guys see that, don't you? Guys see it now,

(01:52:33):
isn't it. This is the nature of the NBA is
the franchise type players, the Steph Curry to Kevin Durant
and Lebron the Russell Westbrooks, the James Harden, those kind
of guys. It's they get away with those type of things.
That's the culture that the NBA has created to where

(01:52:54):
it's one where if you play with one of all guys,
it's all ways your fault if the team doesn't do well,
and if they do do well, it's always their fault
that they want and so they don't. You don't get
the credit if you're a role player. Um, I'm with you.
Like I'm a Laker fan, so I watched pretty much
every game. Um, there's games where Lebron don't play no defense,

(01:53:16):
but I'm watching, Like, come on, Bro, But when you
have to carry the load offensively so much, you're gonna
take some possessions off, and especially when you played as
much as he has. It happens he's not the first
guy to take possessions off, and he's not gonna be
the last. Awesome stuff. T J. Hushman's gown to join
us mostly football, a little bit of hoop, a little

(01:53:37):
bit of reality. T J. Thanks so much for joining us. Man,
Thank you brother. Have a good day, all right. The
pleasure is always always mine. This is the Doug Outlip
Show on Fox Sports Radio. A lot going on in sports.
Let's get you caught up. Here's Dan Buyer. Yes, the
NBA did find Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder
twenty five dollars for directing profanity and threatening language towards

(01:53:58):
a fan during the last night's game Utah. The Jazz
have permanently, permanently banned the fan from attending any events
at the arena for his role in the situation. Raptors
forward Surgeon Baka suspended three games for his role in
the fight with the Cavs Marquis Chris last night. Chris
was suspended one game for his actions in the a
CEC Tournament first role play. Notre Dame took down Georgia

(01:54:20):
Tech seventy one Miami ended Wake four at Season seventy one.
Brocas and Falcons will play in the Hall of Fame
game at Gatton, Ohio coming up on August one, to
start the NFL preseason. NFL Free agency, continuing freeback Grantony
bar At second thoughts about leaving the Vikings for the Jets,
so he's gonna stay in Minnesota. Five year deal with
sixty seven million dollars. Packers have signed three defensive players

(01:54:42):
to multi year deals as edge rushers Zadarius Smith and
Preston Smith are heading to Green Bay as his former
bear safety Adrian Amos. The Packers also eight delfensive I'm
and Billy Turner to a deal. Bills added a couple
of free to a wide receivers and John Brown and
gold Beasley Well. The Saints came to terms on a
contract with free agent back Latavius Murray a four year deal,
and Teddy Bridgewater will be back backing up Drew Brees

(01:55:05):
will be back to the Doug gottlid show in ted seconds.
But first, a word from farmers. At Farmers Insurance, we
know every windshield collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird, poop, drone,
seen it, covered it, Dr Farmers, We are farmers underwritten
my Farmers truck Fire Insurance Exchanges and affiliates. Product unavlable

(01:55:31):
Fox spoorts Radio. There's only one wide receiver who truly
deserves to be the highest pay in the NFL. I'll
tell you who that is next. Be sure to catch
live editions of the Doug Dot Leaps Show weekdays at
noon eastern three pm Pacific. That Farmers Insurance, we know
a roof can withstand a lot, one exception being an
airborne car. Seen it covered it. Dr Farmers, we are

(01:55:52):
farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates
products unavailable in every state. Doug Gotlip Show here on
Fox Sports Radio and uh every day at this time,
we'd like to get you caught up on all of
the big stories of the day. We do so by
getting to the press, the press, damn buyer what he got, Doug.

(01:56:15):
We've got tons of stuff from the NFL. I'm gonna
put that on the back burner though, right now and
deal with these NBA stories because there's a bunch that
are coming to a head, including the topic that we've
talked about for the last hour or so, the NBA
coming down on Russell Westbrook finding him twenty five thousand
dollars for directing profanity and using threatening language. Towards a fan.

(01:56:35):
That fan, well, he's been permanently banned by the Utah
Jazz after he got into that verbal altercation with Westbrook
last night Jazz and their statement saying that they had
video review also some eyewitness accounts that revealed that the
fan used excessive and derogatory verbal abuse towards Westbrook. So
he did not he he was his own suppacially did

(01:56:58):
not curse. There was no there was not in the statement.
It wasn't he wasn't cursing him, but his excessive verbal
Abut it's fine he took aways. I just I know
we think fans think that they're entitled, players think that
they're entitled, and I don't think anybody should be verbally
abused at work, but there is sometimes what happens is
you engage with guys and they they started talking trash

(01:57:21):
back to you, and they think they're part of the show.
This is why you don't ever engage with guys. Don't
ever link that let them think was the old Charles
Barkley advertisement, Right, don't never let him see a sweat.
A sweat just such a mistake for me anyway, Yeah,
that's wild, right, This maybe even more wild Wilder if
you will. James Dolan, the Nicks owner, on ESPN New

(01:57:45):
York talking with Michael Kay says that he felt that
the fans actions of the fan that said sell the
team over the weekend were premeditated. In fact, Dolan went
as far as to say that he felt ambushed. In
the interview, he said he was going to moves the fan,
welcome a man, make all good. But then when he
realized that he was ambushed, he decided to keep the

(01:58:07):
band for life for that fan. But this is again,
this is the power that he has, the same power
that Russell Westbrook has. You know, he didn't drop f
bumps to the guy who just like, hey enjoy watching
it on TV, Like that's kind of a gangster mood.
To be totally honest with you, I don't. I don't
know Dolan. Obviously most people don't like Dolan. I should

(01:58:27):
point out people like, well, he's running the Nicks into
the ground. Actually he has no say at all. He
has completely removed himself from anything happened to with the Nicks.
He just a fan that happens to write the checks.
That's it it, Baby Baller moved goodbye. He was he
was doling out punishment for this fan. I used that.
I used that this weekend. I figured i'd recycle it again.

(01:58:51):
Still works. Raptors forward Searcherbaka got in to a fight
with Marquis Chris left out of the Calves. So Baka
got three games, Chris got one a one game band
that is from the NBA. Three game band for Serge Ibaka,
three game band from Serge Ibaka for altercation. But I
just understand why Russell Westbrook only got twenty fan fan

(01:59:12):
fine for saying I'm gonna blank you up and your life.
And look, I don't take any of this stuff at
face value. Like I don't think for one second Russell
Westbrook was going in the stands. I don't think this
guy was really you know, it's just trash talk gone wrong.
But I get the Sergebaka thing, like you can't have
dudes fighting in the NBA on the floor. Somebody's gonna

(01:59:33):
get break a hand or get hurt, fans get involved,
et cetera, etcetera. One other NBA note, The Athletic reports
that Soeon to be free age guard, kemba walker is
more Kemba walker is more likely to leave the Hornets
than stay in Charlotte this offseason. No, I mean I go.
He's kemba Walker is awesome. I think he's the most
likely got to be a Nick. Moving on to the NFL,

(01:59:56):
where free agency is quite the topic. Freegent loonbacker Anthony
bar was gonna go of the Jets, but then decided
Minneapolis is the place to be. Gets a five year
deal to stay with the Vikings worth sixty seven million dollars.
He's reportedly going to get thirty three million dollars in guarantees.
It's called leverage. Kids, glad to get a better offer,
then come back. And if you want to stay, you stay.

(02:00:16):
You know why why mess with happy? Great place to
raise a family. You know everybody in the organization. It's
got a good defense. I I get it. How about
some quick hitters from the NFL Free agency, Doug, take
these two wherever you want? Free JI linebacker Thomas Davis
joining the Chargers. Sheldon Richardson goes to the Browns. The
Bills get John Brown and Cole Beasley to add to
their wide receiving corps, and Roger Staffolds days with the

(02:00:38):
Rams are done. He goes to the Titans on a
four year deal. Yeah, he was too expensive, too expensive
to keep right. Um, who's going to what's the old
head going to? Uh? Thomas Davis. Thomas Davis, great dude,
Just simply they're good at outside linebacker. He's just an
insurance plan, a great guy to having a locker room.
I don't get what the Bills are doing. John Brown's
the guy who can run fast and can't seem to

(02:01:00):
catch the football. And though I love Cool Beasley, he
does not have a big was it a catch radius?
And Josh Allen is a quarterback that requires a great,
great catch radius. Feels like they just got what was
on the market for him. Falcons general manager Thomas Demittrof
told reporters that wide receiver Julio Jones should be one
of the receivers in the conversation to be the highest

(02:01:21):
paid in the NFL. This from ESPN and Tortio Brown
right now the highest paid receiver, but Jones has just
two years left on his contract. We're twenty one million dollars.
I would tend to agree with that, although at some
point Julio is going to age and you're gonna be
paying for past past success instead of uh, instead of
current production. That That was my question with it of

(02:01:42):
how much. I know he's got two years left on
his deal. Did lead the NFL in receiving yards last year,
but yeah, I mean he's just turned thirty years old.
Do you really want to make him the highest paid
when he's thirty three thirty four? I don't know. Yeah,
speaking of the Falcons, Doug, they're gonna face the Denver
Broncos in the Hall of Fame Game in Captain, Ohio

(02:02:04):
coming up on Thursday, August one. It will be the
opener to the preseason schedule. Yeah, you don't. You don't
ever get to see the guys you want to see play.
That's the only thing about that. But it's you know,
be interested to see who the Hall of Fame classes,
And that's the press. Get out there and pressed that
the press. You might not be able to get a
new car with your tax refund, but you can make

(02:02:24):
your car feel like it's brand new. All it needs
is a great paint job. Coming to make oh today
and get your dream paint job. During their tax season
sales event, A lot a lot of hoop tonight, A
lot of hoop tonight. It starts to kind of crank
up tonight, did you guys, Then you guys watch Wafford
UH end up but closing out at the Southern Conference.
I don't know if you guys watch, that be interesting

(02:02:45):
to see what happens to U N see Greensboro in
the future. UH should be some good hoop tonight though. Um,
there are some games that actually matter, and then there's
some pack twelve games. Kidding TCU's gotta win today a
again so or tomorrow against Oklahoma State, got to win,
must win. But today you got Northern Kentucky taking on

(02:03:07):
Right State. That's fun game. Last night was fun Northern
Kentucky winning on the last second shot. St. Mary's Gonzaga.
There you go. I got the full Gonzaga pronunciation. Gals
have to win in order to get in. Gonzaga wins,
they might be the number one overall seed in the
entire tournament or tournament, depending on how you pronounce it.
But today mostly what you'd call kind of j V

(02:03:29):
warm up games. Tomorrows to the big games. UM, I'll
leave you this. Like the big scandal they're gonna talk
about all the nightly news is the one about people
paying money to Olympic UH. Sport coaches in order to
get their kids in school. This only solidifies my point
about college athletics. For basketball and football, the true value
is not just the name and likeness. It's simply getting

(02:03:51):
into the school. Not ever, forget that it's Doug Gotli Show.
