Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
A Happy Wednesday to you, and you know what that
means coming up in a matter of minutes the midway. Yes, yes,
you have made it to the middle of the week.
And it's a pretty big deal, Manti because next week
with Thanksgiving could be a short week or not even
a week at all for some people. So now people
are coasting into this weekend getting ready for all the
festivities that are going to happen next weekend.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
It's the busiest time of year when it should be
I feel like.

Speaker 5 (00:52):
The most relaxing. It's like the exact opposite.

Speaker 6 (00:55):
It's busy in life.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I also think people like to put it on the
old CC cruise control. That is not what we are
doing here, not at all the Fox Sports Radio, not
with the college football playoff heating up, not with the
NBA season in full swing. College basketball is here, and
of course the National Football League. Of course coming up
with the holidays. Do you dress up on holidays? I

(01:19):
do kind of dressed up today, Yes, I would say.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
I'm not wearing a T shirt James.

Speaker 6 (01:25):
Harden or some sort of player T shirts.

Speaker 7 (01:27):
You're right.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Every time I don't wear a T shirt, somebody what
have you fellas?

Speaker 5 (01:31):
Is like, oh, you dressed up today. It's like, it's
just because I'm not wearing a T shirt. But I
love my T shirts.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
You're right, So you're kind of dressed up for today,
maybe because we have the four hour window, or do
you have plans after.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Plans? I was like, oh, I wear a cute sweater.
It's sweater, it's full weather.

Speaker 6 (01:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Absolutely, it's hard to dress nice in the summer when
you want to wear shorts.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
And a tank top. Do you get what I'm saying?

Speaker 6 (01:54):
Yeah, I get what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Manzi's also wearing a top that has your triceps. So
that is the least sweater sweater I have ever seen
in my life. It's the least like, it's the least
sweater of a sweater. Wouldn't you agree the least sweaterish
sweater you could ever see. I wore a hoodie today,

(02:15):
surprisingly enough, a thicker one, because of the coolness.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
The coolness.

Speaker 6 (02:20):
Yes, yes, but I did not dress to the nines
like mine.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
I am not dressed to the nines. I'm wearing jeans
and a sweater.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
This this leads us into our midway conversation that Isaac
Low and Crombo Benson and Ryan Smith will be joining in.
Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you the midway.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
He's not getting the middle It's time for.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
The midway, all right. This is Jason Stewart Creation.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Jason is not here today, so I'm going to handle
the heavy lifting on bringing the topic to fruition.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Let me send it over to you, Dan.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
Hey, thank you, Monty. I'll take it from here.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Last night I was watching an NBA game and at
the half they went to a studio show, and boy
did it annoy me. Three hosts in suits, all wearing sneakers.

Speaker 6 (03:22):
This is a latest fashion.

Speaker 8 (03:24):
You go, yes, I I cannot stand this new trend
where sneakers are an acceptable form of dress wear.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
I would say a sweater with no top of the
sleeve is more dressed up than anybody wearing a suit
with a nice pair of sneakers. It opens up the
conversation to sports fashion. But I want to start in
that it is a rite of passage Manci, that when

(03:59):
you are dressing up for a nice occasion that your
feet are killing you.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
It happens with heels.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I would imagine, yeah, uh huh, you're wearing heels. You're like,
I can't wait to get these things off. Sure this
night has been long enough. Yes, dress shoes that give
you blisters on the back and crunch your toes. Not
only that, guys will wear ties. How great is it
at the wedding to be able to loosen up the tie?
But that's because of all the work that you put

(04:29):
in previously in going through all of the angst. So
I don't want to hear that comfort is the reason
that you're wearing dress shoes. I think they look ridiculous.
You and are good buddy. Nick Cope were explaining to
me the difference between dunks and Jordan's, and now I
completely know what like.

Speaker 6 (04:49):
So now I can spot them.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
In the wild, I know good and now like I
see a lot of I see a lot of dunks, Yeah,
being worn with suits. Yeah, I've seen a lot of
Jordan's being worn with suits from the Air Force one
and I can't stand it. It annoys me to know in.

Speaker 9 (05:07):
You guys are not going to believe who I think
is the culprit for starting this trend. I believe this
national pandemic of bad taste. You're not going to believe it.
Think about it, Tony Romo and Sketchers. I think he
was the guy who had a jet fuel to this

(05:28):
horrible fashion trend.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Your feet should be a volcano of blisters after a
TV spot. That's what it should be, not nice and
comfortable and looking cool.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Oh man, I am not bothered by the sneakers in
a suit.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
I know, Isaac. I don't know if it's because I.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Like sneakers and I have my fair collection of them,
and I don't mind the look at all.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
I really don't. In fact, I've told.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
The boyfriend that if we ever get married, because I'm married,
that he could wear sneakers with his suit. He told
me I was crazy, that he's not gonna do that.

Speaker 7 (06:08):
Yeah, he told me I'm not doing that.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
And he also has his share of Jordan's and you know,
nice shoes that are sneakers when not dress shoes.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
I really like it does not bother me. I like
the look. I think it looks nice. It doesn't even
have to be Jordan's.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Like sometimes somebody is wearing clean, brand new Chucks Converse
and I don't I.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Don't mind the look. I really suit.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Yeah, I really don't mind the look. You know what
look really bothers me? That really I look at him like,
why did you wear that? And you wear it every
single time?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Andrew Whitworth wearing a hoodie like Dan is wearing now
and then putting a.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Blazer over it.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
That one bothers me. That one, truly, I don't understand it.
And it's every single time the same look that bothers
me more than you wearing sneakers.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
With the suit that has replaced blazer with trendy band
faded T shirt.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
Yeah, that's because.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
That was for a while, so whitwere It's like I'm
going cold weather, right, Maybe I can't wear.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
My kiss shirt.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Kiss yes, poison yes, Thompson twins. Maybe you want to
go new way or whatever because the Smith's, however, but
it has that is that is another level. That's a
lot of layers as well. That's a lot of layers
for Whitworth on that look.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
And I but it's every sink like, spice it up,
change it up.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
But he's like, no, I'm just gonna wear this color
hoodie today and this color blazer today every single time.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
Goes I'm gonna dress up as that for Halloween.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
I agree with her, and I'm addicted to hoodies.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Once hoodies stopped being eighteen pounds to wear like they
were lighter fabric great, yes, yes, and this is even
a little heavyer.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
This is more a cotton. I'll use more of a englf.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
It's been a big controversy on whether lightweight hoodies are
actual golf apparel, and I am all for it. I
have a buddy who's completely against it.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
He's completely wrong.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yes, well that people say that because it isn't like
a yet doesn't have a collar, that it is not
golf attire, proper golf attire, and I completely disagree.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
I love the flexibility of it. It's the perfect sixty
three to degree weather top to wear and I wear
them all the time. But to your point, throwing a
sport coat over it is something that I would not do,
not at all.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Not at all.

Speaker 10 (08:33):
Does monetary value matter when you're talking about shoes and.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
Suits, that's a great question.

Speaker 10 (08:41):
Monetary value the shoes, Yeah, probably. When Ryan Bershinger got married,
I wore my off white Jordan ones for the photos.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
Off Yeah, a little bit, A little bit. I thought
they lose nice.

Speaker 10 (08:54):
It wasn't a suit, it was a more casual And
then at the actual wedding we were all wearing suits
and dress shoes.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
That sucked.

Speaker 10 (09:00):
I really wish I could have gone and changed my shoes.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
That was horrible.

Speaker 10 (09:02):
Ryan's listening right now. I'm upset in about that still.
But I think with these guys wearing these nikes that
cost fifteen, like, I don't really mind them wearing them
doing a studio show.

Speaker 6 (09:15):
I do.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
I have a big problem with it because I do
think to your question, bo.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Is, it is about status. It is a little bit
is about look at what I'm wearing him. You could
do that with a watch.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
It's not the same though, like a watch. I mean,
I you're right, I don't have an eye. I couldn't
spot a Rolex. I could not I go spot and
I watch, you know what I mean? But I like
can't spot a Rolex I would not be able to
tell the difference. We can shoot backward though, that's right,
like the Travis Scott's or like, oh, you're wearing Jordan
For's like I could, I could spot it.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
My nephew, my sister in law's son for our wedding,
was going to stand up and said to my wife said, okay,
if he wears black and white ch record bands, kind of.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
Like okay, you know what.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
I said, absolutely not absolutely not to.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
Guess what he showed up black and white checkered man.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
I would have said, no, there's a van that is
not okay.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yeah, I was just it's not a big given. Just
goes to like I am. I have no prisoners for this.
I have a buddy who just texted me says, you
sound so old right now. He sounds so old, by
the way, a buddy who's older than me, I should
point out, since I know he's listening. So hey, I'm
just keeping it real here. It looks atrocious. Just it's
it's it's such a it's such a status thing too.

(10:39):
I'm looking at it right now on my screen as well.
There's another person and there's wearing sneakers with their sport
coat no tie, so it's like we're casual and cool here.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
I can't stand it.

Speaker 9 (10:52):
I gotta admit these TV networks don't help out because
they always make sure to do a full body shot
of these goods. I mean, people in their suits, and
they make sure to include, oh, I'm wearing white tennis shoes.
I'm seeing it right now. And to be honest, if
I'm out and about like games or something, and I
see a TV person in a suit and the sneakers,

(11:16):
it gives me pause, kind of a red flag.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
The only way gives me pause is if you're wearing
a sneaker and I can see your ankle.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Men, I should not see your ankle in.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Any type of slacks or pants where you're trying to
look nicts. Are you wearing shorts, then I should see
your ankle. If you're wearing pants, I don't care. I
should not see your ankle. Wear higher socks or longer pants.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
That jos like the joggers those as a dress up.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
No, if you're McDaniel on the sideline with your joggers
and your sneakers and a hoodie, I'm fine with that, okay.
But if you're wearing like the a shorter pant that's
supposed to You're supposed to look dressed up and professional.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
I better not see your ankle.

Speaker 10 (11:57):
Just shots fired at dani Or Lotsky on the TV
right wearing the nikes with his ankles showing.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Look at but you can't see his skin and.

Speaker 10 (12:10):
That's what that So no show socks are out for him.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Wear a higher sock and.

Speaker 9 (12:14):
The camera keeps panning down to show his shoes.

Speaker 10 (12:18):
Yes, I was going to say, like in terms of
wedding stuff and shoes at the end of the night,
I think it should be acceptable.

Speaker 6 (12:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (12:26):
Yeah, if you're still doing pictures and stuff, it's tough.
But also like now, at weddings, pictures go on for
the entire night, so there's no opportunity to change your
clothes anymore.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Listen, they're showing Andrew Hawkins as well on the ESPN
set since we're naming names, and he has got a
nice patterned suit with a nice pair of dress shoes.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
It's it's a it's respect for the position and it's
not about you. And I feel that when you're wearing
the sneakers, you're making it about you because it's an
individualistic sort.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Of well, yes, yes, that's.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
It's not always about you. And that's where I think
that these sneaker things are. It was you would have
thought you were walking into a foot locker competition last
night on TV, all of them with their cool sneaks,
showing off what they have, and just to me, like,
I want to focus on what was.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
Happening in the actual games. It's it's an issue. Listen,
it's an issue on NBA benches. No one is going
back to wearing a suit anymore.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
But that's COVID's fault. That was COVID. That's when it started.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
It is, that's when it started.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
And I miss seeing You're right, the coaches and suits
on the side.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
How come in the NHL they're like, we're gonna wear suits.
We're wearing suits as a head coach and as a
staff yep. Like the NHL is like, yeah, we're going
to continue to do this. In the NBA is like, yeah,
just wear that windbreaker.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
But what are we doing here the quarters?

Speaker 6 (13:56):
In yeah? Quarters? Is it with the logo on it?

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Like, I think that it's such a bad look. I
just I want us to go back to the suits.
The NFL makes their coaches and everybody wear their stuff
on the sideline, so you go and buy it in
the NFL shop. I don't think that the NBA has
that same sort of desire or intent on like go
to Lakers dot com and by the same pullover that

(14:20):
JJ reddig wears on the sidelines. There's there's none of that.
But the NFL it is, and it's why they have
their different months of the year, the you know some weet,
the service, the crucial catch, the whole deal. So every
month you're buying new NFL stuff and you're seeing it, Yeah,
this is the this is the the sweatshirt that Mike
McDaniel wore, this is the this is the hat that
Mike McDonald wore.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
That's what you're trying to do.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Remember Kyle Shanahan had that that hat with the little
San Francisco forty nine ers logo a couple of years ago. Well,
it wasn't an authorized hat and they made them change it.
Have you noticed the hats this year very similar to
that one, to the Kyle Shanahan hat, which is now
good to go because the NFL can make money off
of it. But if you wanted to wear a suit

(15:04):
like Jack del Rio once did on the sidelines for
the Jaguars, or if you wanted to wear a suit
like Mike Nolan did when he was the head coach
of the forty nine ers, you couldn't do it. You
want to know why, because you couldn't buy the suit
or the sweater, vest and the tie on the NFL shop,
which is absurd. If an NFL head coach wants to
wear a suit on the sidelines, more power to you.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
When did that stop in the NFL?

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Like do you decades ago?

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Decades ago?

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Right?

Speaker 5 (15:28):
Like it was?

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah, because I don't remember in recent times seeing a
coach on the sideline in the NFL dressed up.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
Last guy to do it was Mike Nolan, who was
the coach of the forties.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Just set yeah, just said. You may not have heard
that you're recording. That's okay, But Isaac has other duties,
so did Seton comes back in? But I just mentioned
him and Jack del Rio. Del Rio once tried to
wear a suit on the sideline growing up. Mike Ditka
was wearing a shirt, a shirt and tie or a
sweater that had bears across his chest. Right, but it
was a sweater and it had full sleeves. Actually maybe

(16:00):
it was only a sweater vest. But the point is
is that there was some sort of team dressed up
attire and now all of that has gone out the window,
and I.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
Don't think it's going anywhere.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
Dan.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
Individuality is a thing, it truly is.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
And as much as I would like to wear my
polo shirt untucked on a golf course, I understand that
there are rules and I have to abide by them.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
So I will have to tuck.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
In the shirt and play golf. But that's just something
that I have to deal with, just like people should
have to deal with wearing dress shoes.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
Yeah, I really have no problem with it. I like
the way it looks. Yeah, I don't mind it. I
don't mind it. And I'm more bothered again by the
hoodie with the blazer. I would, though, like to see
coaches in the NBA come back to wearing suits, because

(16:54):
in the NHL it stands out you could tell right
away who's a coach.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Oh, there he is without knowing anything. Yes, you're like,
there he is. He's in charge.

Speaker 6 (17:01):
That's him. That's a head coach.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
I can tell you right now. I don't know same,
but he's a coach because of the way he's dressed.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yep, he's got a suit on. Yep, guess what got
a little warm. Let's take off the sport coat. Yeah,
Mick Cronin of UCLA. He's gone back to the suit
like he's been one of the suit guys, right, Isaac,
I think he's one of the few in college hoops.

Speaker 6 (17:18):
Good for him.

Speaker 9 (17:18):
And we also have a sneakers and suit update from
at Uncle Ralph Underscore, who tweets to you guys, tell
Isaac spelled my name wrong, but who cares. The sneakers
and suit things started in the eighties with the Playboy
Boy All America College Basketball Team issue, So I guess
they would picture of the guys in suits and sneakers.

(17:39):
But I think that was kind of unconnected to this
current rage because it was more like a college basketball
motif than this trend.

Speaker 6 (17:47):
Yes, I agree.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
It was more kind of like funny or odd or
trying to be like, oh, look at they're dressed in tuxes,
but they're wearing sneakers because they're basketball players.

Speaker 6 (17:55):
Isn't that interesting?

Speaker 3 (17:56):
This is more of like, Hey, I want to look cool, yes,
and I don't care if I sound old. She's monts blamio,
So I'm Dan Byer. Thanks to the crew for chiming

latest busy day of the NFL and so much more.

Speaker 6 (20:07):
Isaac, what's going on?

Speaker 9 (20:08):
Indeed, our top story is about an NFL quarterback situation
in the state of Ohio. But it's not the Cleveland Browns.
The Cincinnati Bengals just listed Joe Burrow as a full
participant in practice today. Burrow has missed the last eight
games due to a toe injury. Elsewhere in the state
of Ohio in the NFL, the Cleveland Browns name rookie

(20:30):
Shadoor Sanders their starting quarterback for Sunday's game at Las Vegas.
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced that to
Rod Taylor will start at quarterback Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Atlanta Falcons confirmed the quarterback Michael Pennix Junior will
need season ending surgery for a partially torn left acl
Falcons additionally ruling out receiver Drake London for a Sunday's

(20:52):
game against the Saints due to a knee injury. NFL
media reports Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake had elbow
surgery yesterday, could return before the playoffs. Finally, the National
Hockey League is apparently experiencing a bizarre rash of food
related injuries now. Recently, New York Jets center Jack Hughes

(21:14):
was sidelined for six weeks when he suffered a hand
injury during a team dinner at a steakhouse. Well today,
two time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers forward A
towo loose Toreenan has been sidelined. Head coach Paul Maurice
explained why.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
A short time ago.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
A.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Barbecuing miss but seriously and suffered burns, so he's I'm
gonna listen to his week to week.

Speaker 9 (21:42):
A barbecuing mishap has now sidelined A two loose Toenan.
I wanted to find out if there were any further
details about what exactly happened but apparently local reporters did
not grill.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Paul Maurice additional.

Speaker 6 (22:00):
Information to you on Yes, Jack Hues of the Devils.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Scotti Scheffler had the cut his hand making pasta earlier
this year.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Michael Scott stepped on his.

Speaker 6 (22:14):
George Adam Kaplin joins this year on Fox Boards Radio.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Adam not far from Scranton, PA. By the way, hit
him up at Kaplin NFL. Hear him on the Inside
the Birds podcast. All right, you're at Isaac said, let's
start in Cincinnati. The Bengal is sitting there at three
and eight. But Joe Burrow a full participant.

Speaker 6 (22:32):
Crazy? Do we see him on Sunday against New England?

Speaker 7 (22:34):
All right, So, I don't know if you saw my
boy Jay Glacier's report on Sunday. He actually, you know,
he talked to Burrow. Burrow was back practicing two months
before he should have been. He's two months ahead of schedule.
It's incredible. Hit by the way, it's turf tow. Joe
Burrow hit a bad one and I'm look, I know
he's had a lot of injuries. This is incredible. We

(22:54):
got to get through practice this week. I mean, today's
the first day they have a three day practice week.
They will Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, walk through Saturday. Yeah, I
mean this could happen. And you know, I know that.
I know the Patriots pretty well. I'm sure they were
preparing for borrow just in case. It's your job as coaches,
and they've had plenty of time. They had the mini
buy anyway. But yeah, this this, I know the book.

(23:15):
The Bengals even have a shot at a wild card Dan,
they got to win out. They know this, But it's
pretty incredible. I've seen some crazy things before that. This
is pretty up there.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
Hi, Adam, thanks for joining us.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Yeah, I get to talk to you so much, just
in the NFC North, So let's stay in this division.
The Browns Shadoor Sanders. What did you make of his
very small sample size? Now he's officially making his debut.
How do you think this goes for Shador?

Speaker 7 (23:42):
You know it's a true I did an interview for
you know, a brownspod earlier this week and I said, look,
people getting looking.

Speaker 6 (23:53):
At what Shudor did.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
You're four sixteen, you had to pick you gotta understand
and I'm not absolving him. He didn't play well, but
it was also windy as heck. You know he was
really the win was terrible there. He had zero work
with the first team offense. I said this before it
got announced. Knew Sander was going to start. As obvious
he's going to start. He's going to get all the
ones this week. So let's just before we start hard

(24:15):
judging shoodear Sanders because folks love to jump to conclusions,
let him play. It's against a very bad defense, the
Cowboys house the Raiders, and you know what, this game's
on the road. But it's also you're not having to
worry about whether Let's see what happens. And the past
star group for the Browns is not bad. It's a
little better than you think. It's just they've had a

(24:35):
lot of injuries. Jerry Judies or Slot Tilman's a good player.
Ceda Tilmney's been hurt a lot. He's in his third year.
The kid Harold Fanner Junior has been a nice surprise
at the third round tight end from Bowling Green. So
to Manci, the real problem is they're left and right
tackles both hurt. They've had problems all season on their
offensive line at tackle. That's part of it. Now, the

(24:57):
good thing is they've got a run game. Was Quinshawn
Judkins their second round pick. He's doing a good job.
This is the to me, and we'll see what happens.
If you want to start a game, I don't care
where you play this. You'd like to play the Raiders.
They just don't have a lot of talent. Obviously got
to worry about Max Crosby, but they're not very good
on the back end.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
They'd like to schedule the Utah Jazz if they could.
You know, just say Lebron gets to come back and
he only gets to play the Jazz and the stink. Yeah,
well yeah, just like the Raiders at him. Adam Gablin
joining us here on Fox Sports Radio One. More on
the Shador thing. So Gabriel is out with a concussion.
What about when he clears concussion? Protocolic, Is this Shadoor's
job for the rest.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
Of ye season as long as he This is the
way I see your question, because I know how these
things work from talking to coaches there. They're in what
we call valuation mode. Coaches hate to be in it.
They have no chance. They're two and eight, Okay, they're
not making the playoffs. The Ravens has shocked me at
one and four, you know, and then now they're five
and five. They still got to We'll see if they
get in, but you know they're trying to do something
it's only done four times to thirty five years. But

(25:54):
to be two and eight, you're in valuation. Dylan Gabriels
a backup, and they know that he was probably overdrafted
a little bit. I saw him the senior ball. He's
got an intermediate army, can't drive the ball down field's
it's funny. It's kind of like tool because he's he
was a little bit taller, he's got a little bit
of a better arm. But Shaudoor is a better football
player in terms of talent. It's just a Shauder had

(26:16):
to get over this maturity issue. Dan that that's exactly
why he dropped. His tape was actually solid from a
performance standpoint at Colorado. He's not really a runner. He
could scramble. He's a pocket passer if they could protect him,
and he just hangs in there. I think you're going
to be surprised, Sunny, but we'll see what happens.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
We're talking to Adam Kaplan, our NFL insider. You can
listen to him on Inside the Birds podcast. Let's move
on here. How bad of a situation are the Falcons
in Michael Pennock Junior another season ending injury?

Speaker 5 (26:48):
This is not new to his career. What bad of
a situation are the Falcons in Monty?

Speaker 7 (26:54):
It's funny you say it because I remember of my
work for that draft last year, and what you know,
I'd put out that he's going to go in the
first round. I couldn't tell you where. I didn't think
you'd go that high. But everyone I talked to said, hey,
great kid. You know he's got a good arm, really
good arm. He's a pocket more of a pocket passer
who doesn't really run very much. He can run if
you want him to, but he's a pocket passer. But

(27:16):
you got to get over the injury. History's pretty significant
shoulder in There's a lot of stuff now, the partial
a cl that that's that's concerning and got and you
guys talked. Before I was on, I heard Dan talk
about they don't have a first round pick next year.
They have five picks starting the second round. It'd probably
a high first round pick because they're not they're not
very good. Yeah, it's concerning. And by the way, it's
kind of like the Colts did with their situation after

(27:41):
making the big trade with the Jets.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
I don't have a first round pick.

Speaker 7 (27:42):
They're married to Daniel Jones, like they I know he's
not sign passed this year, but they don't really have
a choice. He's got to come back and he's got
to be their guy because you've given up your first
round pick. Now, we'll talk more about this December when
I get a good idea of who the what the
A classmen class will look like. It's too early, but
we'll get an idea of what that class is gonna
look like. But yeah, if you don't have a first
round pick, it's really hard. You're kind of married to

(28:04):
what you have.

Speaker 6 (28:04):
So to speak.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
And what surprised me about the Falcons is because we've
heard about this with other coaches. But I started to
hear rumblings and read rumblings about Raheem Morris's job status.

Speaker 7 (28:13):
Well, i'll explain why. Okay, please do well when you
don't meet expectations. And I know Raheem personally is a
good dude, but cover this business twenty seven years when
you don't meet expectations, when you expect something and it
doesn't happen from ownership, you know, it's it's not good.
I'm not saying it's gonna be fired, but you have

(28:33):
to go, what's happened to this team? What?

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Why?

Speaker 7 (28:36):
You know they played? They've lost some close games. There
are only three and seven. The expectations were playoffs or
to come close to it. They're obviously it's gonna be hard.
Kirk Cousins did not look didn't look good, very good.
I know it's been hard. He hadn't had a lot
of time with the ones, but it's yeah, I mean,
look dan it it's when people ask me these questions
I always say, it's always expectations of the general manager.

(28:57):
Terry Fontneau, particular Arthur Planks, a patient guy. To be honest,
I day answered quest. I'd be shocked if he's not chucked,
surprised if he's fired. But what I know is when
expectations aren't met, the head coach will be on the
hot seat at some point in the near future, probably
going to twenty six that there's no question they're gonna
have to make the playoffs next year. Now, the problem

(29:19):
is we don't know exactly when Michael Pennix will be
available and there is he not going to be available
till the summer. Is he having full reconstruction. We don't
know that, but it's Look, I know Drake Lennon has
akne injury, but Drake London's having a great season. They
have had offensive line injuries. Their defense is good, not great,
But why are they three and seven? They should be
way better? Dan, answer your question. I know Penix is

(29:40):
the first year, is a full time starter, and he
had not played particularly well, very up and down, more
down than up. But and then there's issues with usage
a certain personnel and offense. I know people are in
the league question, but yeah, I think it's fair. Look,
it's fair ground when a team that should be better
is not as good.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
You mentioned Terry Fott. Though, I think it's easy in
the draft.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
It's easy to appease your fan base when Jon Robinson
is there, right, you take Bijon. It's easy to also
be like Drake London, like we got a top ten target,
Like yeah, absolutely, and you can't say that they missed
on those No, but they gave Cousins the deal after
the Achille surgery.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
The drafting of Pennix. So you have these pieces there.

Speaker 7 (30:18):
No exactly, Dan, jump in real quick that that's the
confounding thing we probably you and I probably talked about.
You probably asked me. Then they knew they love Penix, right,
this is not a secret. They love Pennocks the entire process.
Why would you give think about it as a leak.
Source told me it's almost like you're betting that Cousins
will get hurt and that Penix will play early to

(30:41):
justify the contract. Think about this, though, they fully guaranteed
two seasons plus a little bit of money in your
three like that.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
That made no sense to me.

Speaker 7 (30:50):
When you knew you like Pennix if you could get them,
that was bad. Just to say this, Dan, that was
bad planning by fot No go.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Ahead, yeah, and then and then I was just going
to add on they do this deal for Jalen Walker
to trade up to draft him in the draft last year.
So now as you know, you and Monts you were
talking about, they don't have a first round pick next year.
I get Rahie Morris hasn't had production, but the front
office has put him in quite a pickle with some
of these decisions. And that's why the future doesn't look

(31:17):
bright because of the front office.

Speaker 7 (31:20):
They've they've i would say, Terry Foneau mixed results around
the league for people.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Have people look at it.

Speaker 7 (31:25):
Look, Kyle Pitts has not come close to what we've
I'll be honest, I'm shocked that he's not been the
player that we A lot of people thought around the league.
Maybe it was just to be generational, and it's clearly
not happened. I know he's been heard a lot. Uh
he I would say, if you look at FONT those drafts,
it's it's mixed. It's not bad like the way that
By the way, the way that clubs are evaluated is

(31:46):
games started tape is number one. Games started in production
and if you look at FONT, no, a lot of
guys are starting, but they're not great. But look he
hits on Tyle alge here has been a good story.
By the way, Dan, you know you do your fantasy show.
Year's been a big surprise as a powerback. Beijon's phenomenal pits.
They haven't gotten right. They've got some offensive lineman right,

(32:07):
Bergeron's a really good player. Defensively, Terrell's terrific, But other
than that, they don't have studs on defense. They need
more of them, Adam.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
Last one for me, which one surprises you more that
the Patriots are at the top of their division or
that the Bears are at the top too.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Patriots, I'm Montay, I'll freedom at this. I got them
completely wrong when I saw the odds makers put in
eight and a half win total. Look, there's no way
the roster's not very good. And by the way, I'm
not wrong on that.

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Osked.

Speaker 7 (32:34):
A lot of people in the league they Vrabel is
an unbelievable football coach. Mike Rabel is phenomenal. They're coaching.
All the assistants are doing a great job. Josh McDaniels
is doing a phenomenal job. Drake May, I'm shocked because
let me tell you something, folks, College State won very good,
played wild didn't play with any discipline. A lot of
Chris is around the league that Drake May didn't know

(32:56):
how to play football, hero ball and all this college
space that was his tape. But Moncey, he's been great.
Is shocking me. The biggest shocks to me in the
season were the Patriots number one Colton Daniel Jones, number
two at eight eight and two I clearly didn't see.
Now I got the Seahawks right that one. I'm proud
of I completely missing the Patriots and that's okay. Look

(33:18):
you're not kidding him?

Speaker 6 (33:19):
All right? Well, we love you right or wrong, Adam
Kaplan and you are you brother? Right?

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (33:24):

Speaker 2 (34:49):
The press, So.

Speaker 9 (34:54):
I don't know if Moncy will remember this. No offense, Moncey, actually,
no offense, Dan or me?

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Young?

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Do you are you familiar.

Speaker 9 (35:03):
With something called the concord? The concord you you Monsey?
The concord?

Speaker 6 (35:13):
Yeah again, concord, the concord, concord. No, Dan, yes, it's
an airplane.

Speaker 9 (35:19):
Yes, okay, the Concord was a supersonic jet passenger airplane
and it had a heyday for I don't know, maybe
twenty five or thirty years. But because it was a
supersonic passenger plane, you could fly from Europe to New
York in like three hours. Wow, I mean it was

(35:41):
you know that they'd have champagne. Al Michaels would fly
the Concord when he was overseas for ABC's Wide World
of Sports. But unfortunately the Concord is not really in
use anymore for a lot of financial reasons and also crashing.

Speaker 6 (35:59):
Sure anyway, sufficient right, Yes.

Speaker 9 (36:03):
So they're trying to resurrect supersonic travel. And the reason
that I'm relaying this to is the Wall Street Journal
reports that the NFL is quietly monitoring the redevelopment of
supersonic flight because of its ambitions overseas in Europe, because

(36:23):
if supersonic travel becomes a thing again, it might be
easier for NFL treat teams to fly to Europe and
potentially a full time team over there.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
None of this surprises me because of how much the
NFL seems to like international games.

Speaker 6 (36:41):
Yes here there and everywhere everywhere.

Speaker 5 (36:43):
Yes, like they want to go to Australia.

Speaker 6 (36:45):
Yeah they will next year, it will ye.

Speaker 5 (36:47):
And it's like how long does it take to get there?
A day?

Speaker 6 (36:50):
Yeah, it takes out a day.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
It's a good fifteen fifteen hours one way, seventeen hours
maybe like on the way back, which is right, you
would be back to Australia, I believe, right right, No.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
It makes no sense to me. But that story that
they're monitoring, that makes perfect sense.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
The NFL needs to follow what the NBA plan is
if you want to make it international, And the NFL
actually had a bit of a blueprint when they had
NFL Europe and they had the European leagues. But the
NBA is a couple of years away from building their
own sort of NBA Europe if you will, and then
you have opportunities maybe for a European team to play

(37:29):
a US based NBA team. That would be a better
option than the NFL trying to put like four franchises
in Europe. I just don't I don't see the viability
of that.

Speaker 6 (37:39):
Listen.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
It's tough enough when you're a West Coast team International
Football League, yes, let alone now trying to do it
with a different country. I just never thought that it
was a really feasible plan for the NFL to do that.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
It didn't matter, they're still pushing it.

Speaker 6 (37:52):
Yeah, that's what's crazy. They can adjust.

Speaker 9 (37:54):
And you know that's a great point though, because it's
hard enough domestically when you've got a Monday night foot
ball road game and you have to play that Sunday.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Look at the Chargers. They just got ran over by
the Jaguars on Sunday thirty five to six. But it
was very likely in part because you just played a
Sunday night game and had to fly across the country
and have an early kickoff. Now, it doesn't affect every
NFL team, but it does have an effect on most.

Speaker 9 (38:21):
And not that I'm bitter, but when they were halfway
through their return flight from their first game of the season,
they'd already traveled more miles than the Cincinnati Bengals will
have traveled this entire season. Not that I'm bitter about
what happened in Jacksonville.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
Right, No, I'm telling if Trevor Lawrence only had to
play the Chargers, he would beat Tom Brady.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Well, there's gonna be there was a was there an
NFL game in Paris is going to be looked at
for next year. I thought it came up bod who
was appearing in the Saints.

Speaker 6 (38:51):
The Saints.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
That's nice.

Speaker 9 (38:53):
Oh the whole the flur delete thing. Okay, boy. The
NFL there really on their stuff when it comes to
this speaking of the NFL. Uh, Tampa bad? Basically, yeah,
that's my French accent.

Speaker 6 (39:09):
Cat.

Speaker 9 (39:09):
Your Ben yet's at the cafe, all right. So Tampa
Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife announced yesterday
on social media they're expecting their second child. It's a
baby boy, and today Mayfield told reporters that he expects
the new arrival to be a troublemaker just like him.

Speaker 10 (39:26):
I'm a little hands that's karma.

Speaker 9 (39:31):
I'm gonna have a little bleepet on.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
My lot different ways.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
This is Manti responding to Baker Mayfield and his wife
having a new son.

Speaker 8 (39:41):
Love this?

Speaker 6 (39:44):
Why because you love Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
I do love Baker.

Speaker 6 (39:47):
I love this.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
I'm like, what are we gonna name this child?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
I needed to go with Baker chef chef, Yes, such
chef Mayfield and the chef.

Speaker 5 (39:57):
That's what I'm saying. See this is Dan. That's a
great idea, very much.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
How how can we name this child that matches with Baker,
bacon and chef?

Speaker 5 (40:05):
I love it.

Speaker 9 (40:06):
That's actually a really you got to launch a social
media campaign. I'm just going to google real quick. Is
chef a good name for a baby boy? According to AI,
it's not traditional or popular, but it can be used
if parents want a unique name with connotations of leader, skip, leadership,

(40:30):
and skill.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
So there you go.

Speaker 9 (40:32):
I heard Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 6 (40:33):
Well that's what you named your kid.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
Really, what why do you hit your kid already?

Speaker 9 (40:40):
That concludes a European and Culinary edition of this edition
of the Press by get out there in press.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
That was the Press with Steph Curry. Come in and
say no, no, no, you can't name your kids chef. That's
my name. Actually, that's good, Jeth Curry.

Speaker 6 (40:56):
I do want to make this point.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
Field of Dreams game coming back to Major League Baseball
in twenty twenty six, and announced today that they will
be playing a game on October thirteenth next year. Phillies
and Twins will be the matchup for the contest in Dyersville, Iowa.
Have you ever been to the Field of dreams I
have not. I've been twenty years ago, so love to

(41:19):
see what it's like again. But baseball will be back
in the cornfields of Iowa next year. We will be
back because we're in for Cavino and rich Next She's Monzi,
I'm Dan.

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
