(00:44):
of stuff to get to, a metric ton to get to. UM.
Mike Leach is apparently the new head coach at Mississippi State,
which gives us Mike Leach and Lane Kiffin in the
same state, in the same league playing against each other.
Thank you. We will get to that up coming. Um.
There are other things. There are other issues. We got.
(01:08):
Christophs Perzingi is getting a PRP injection. What does that
mean about his future, how dramatically his career has changed.
I got thoughts for you on this weekend on Joe
Judge and his press conference with the New York Giants,
which concluded about thirty minutes ago, The insane amount of
(01:31):
pressure that is on Andy Reid and the kan City
Chiefs this weekend as they take on the Houston Texans.
Brandon We will be our guest. Clay Travis gonna join us,
Bruce Gradkowski is gonna join us. R J. Bell is
gonna join us. We got a great show. Let's start
with this though um. Since two thousand two, the a
(01:53):
f C has been representing the last eighteen Super Bowls
by the following quarterbacks, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Rothsburg
and Joe Flacco. Should be pointed out that when Joe
Flacco was in Super Bowl, the entire season or playoffs
was about is Joe Flacco elite? But we should also
remember that while Joe Flacco was the quarterback, that was
a team that was made up of Ed Reid and
(02:14):
Ray Lewis to first ballot Hall of Famers. This is
the year that changes, right. This is the passing of
the torch year in the a f C, the New Age,
Pat Mahomes, Shaun Watson, I mean, Ryan Tannehill, Lamar Jackson. Uh.
(02:41):
Four athletic quarterbacks. It's funny. Ryan Tannehill is actually the
only one of the quarterbacks to play a different position
in college. We where remember that Ryan Tannehill was a
wide receiver. So you have four guys that can move
their legs, four guys that have not proven themselves. None
(03:01):
of them have been to a Super Bowl. Only Mahomes
has been to an a f C Championship game, and
this is the year that that changes. In the NFC,
there are only two quarterbacks that have played in and
won a Super Bowl. They match up this weekend in
Green Bay. The a f C and NFC championship games
(03:23):
will have one quarterback who has won one Super Bowl.
What's amazing about this league is the popularity is possibly
at an all time high. Right there are more challenges
and television that there ever been before, more challenges for viewership.
There are plenty of naysayers. Obviously, there's the issue with
(03:46):
post career head trauma. There's the social uh social awareness
or social injustice issues that this league has had, and
yet in a league designed to give us parody. Right,
That's that's why half the teams that make the playoffs
in a given year don't make it the next year.
(04:07):
We're finally going to really get it. We are finally
seeing the next wave, the next generation. And what's interesting
about that transition is the difference in it to the
transition in the NBA. The NBA struggled for fifteen years
(04:28):
after Michael Jordan's retired, and obviously the NBA having some
struggles now with Lebron James in the West, with Kevin
Durant not playing, with Steph Curry not playing, but also
the Warriors being in the West and Lebron being in
the West and all the town being in the West,
really does and you know, the best player in the
East playing in Milwaukee, that any good for the numbers.
(04:49):
You combine that with all the challenges and the proliferation
of NBA on national TV, and there you go. But
this is the league that seems to be able to
survive it. Now, will the Super Bowl numbers be down
if it's Tennessee, you know, somehow matching up with oh Minnesota. Yeah, yeah,
(05:18):
it'll be hurt by it. It's not likely to happen,
But if it were to happen, it'd be hurt by it.
But I find it fascinating on on on a trend
that is so obvious. I don't think that Lamar Jackson
thing is a trend. I don't. I think the offense uh.
And when you say gimmick it people think it means
(05:43):
it's a phony. So I don't want to say. But
we have seen versions of this offense before, and and
it is an offense that you know, League teams catch
up to. Running the football is back, but part of
that is in the construction of defenses. I don't think
(06:03):
Lamar Jackson's offense is a gimmick, a gimmick as a
trick device intended to attract tension, publicity or business. I
don't think that's the word. I'm looking for another word, right, wildcat.
I don't even think the wildcat was a gimmick. I
think again, it wasn't. It's the way it's designed is
to play eleven on eleven football. I don't think that last,
(06:29):
just because the quarterback is such a valuable piece that
having guys run once they cross the line of scrimmage,
that's when we can't protect you. But I do think
that quarterback mobility, while it has always been important, I
mean Joe Montana was very, very mobile, has never been
(06:50):
as paramount as it is now. And the passing of
the torch is not just from the quarterbacks but also
quite frankly to the coaches. Right, um, I find it
interesting the transition that's right before us. When the Patriots
(07:11):
go down, well, we'll see what happens with the Seahawks.
They have been a mini dynasty that they've tried to continue,
and Russell Wilson has carried this thing in his own way.
The only dynasty that the Saints have is the dynasty
of losing and devastating fashion in the playoffs. The Kancity
Chiefs are perennially seen as achievers in the regular season
(07:32):
and under achievers home losers in the postseason. All of
that could change. Look at the guys who have won.
Brady on his way out, Eli on his way out.
Peyton is gone, Ben Roethlisberger, we don't know how he
returns from elbow surgery. Joe Flacco is not a starter anymore.
(07:56):
You have Russell Wilson, It's possibly the best quarterback in
the league. With Aaron Rodgers, They're right there in that discussion.
Outside of that, it's a completely new generation. It has
happened like that, and sometimes I've did this with my son.
Last week, I have a I have the most awesome
(08:17):
tenure old boy on the face of the earth. I'm
I biased, sure, but anyone who's met him like, that's
a great kid. So on. I think it was New
Year's Day, maybe it was. I think it was New
Year's Day or now, and it was the second because
the New Year's Day we're gonna do it. We end
up doing the second. We went surfing in the morning
and he got surf booties. Booties cover your feet, right.
(08:41):
He already has a wet suit. The waters actually was
pretty warm, and when he put the booties on, he's like, Dad,
this is the greatest present ever. Now my feet are warmed,
my body's warm. I can't wait till he went out
there and he had his new boogie board. It's okay
when you got a surfboard. I saw him catch about
four or five waves came in and he was like,
let's go. I was like, what's up, dude, it's just
(09:04):
not good. I couldn't serve with the booties on. I
kept tripping I fell down. He didn't couldn't turn to
the ride. Too many people out there. I was like, Buddy,
get in the car. Later on that night we went
to this little spot. Uh. I live in Newport Beach, California.
I've tweeted this picture out and it's just you can have.
(09:26):
We've had these remarkable sunsets. I know, there's all kinds
of beautiful sunsets no matter where. I'm a big sunset guy,
sunrise and sunset guy. Rama's you can attest this. The
sunsets have been incredible for like the last two weeks,
incredible any color you can think of in the rainbow.
And so I said, I want you to look out there.
So what am I looking for? I said, you live
(09:47):
in maybe the nicest place on earth. You have a
mom and a dad who are healthy, brother assist, two
sisters healthy, all love you. Okay, you got a dog,
get a cat, get your own room. You get your
own bathroom, John bathroom, go to public school. Let's safe.
Doesn't snow here. There's no tornadoes here, knock on wood,
(10:08):
no earthquakes yet, right, no hurricanes. Like, let's have some
perspective your life. It's pretty awesome. So if you trip
when you're riding in a wave. It's not the worst
thing on earth. It's not a bad day. It's just
a wave that you tripped on. It was Sometimes we
get caught up in well what a Brady do is
(10:29):
at the end of the dynasty. I can't believe all
these Just let's have some perspective. There has been a
reinvigoration of the quarterback position. The next wave is here.
Whether it's Garoppolo and San Francisco, who we didn't believe
in then we did believe in, then we didn't believe
(10:50):
in now we do. Whether it's Lamar or Mahomes or
Deshaun Watson, all are likely to be the next version
of Russell Wilson and and Aaron Rodgers. Breeze lost last
week and looked like an old man, even playing out
home in a dome. Roethlisberger had elbow surgery and he
(11:11):
looks like he's been stuck in the woods for two years.
He looks more like um the Uni bomber than he
does the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tom Brady is
trying to figure out, can I find a way to
hide the fact that I'm old? Philip Rivers, could be done,
could have one year left. Flacco can't start in the
(11:32):
league anymore. The next gen is here. Be sure to
catch the live edition of The Doug gott Leap Show
weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio Whap. We're gonna
work in Clay Travis here in a second, the show
is called out, kicked the coverage. It's early morning here
on Fox Sports Radio. He's written a book on the
(11:52):
sec M. Thankfully he did not write a book at
mid season about the Tennessee Titans. Clay Travis joins us
in the Doug Galley Show on Fox Sports Tradio. Lane
Kiffin and now the Pirate at Mississippi Misissippi State, respectively,
Who's gonna do a better job? I think that Mike
Leach is more likely to be their long term UM.
(12:13):
And I don't say that as any like insulted Lane
Kiffin or think that he's not going to do a
good job. But I think that Lane Kiffin has kind
of always been looking for the next great thing, and
I don't believe that Old miss is where he would
like to spend the rest of his career. Whereas I
think if you look at Mike Leach, uh, and maybe
I'm wrong on this, maybe he'll do really well at
Mississippi State and it will finally be what propels him
(12:35):
into a into a bigger quality job. But he's one
at Texas Tech, he's one at Washington State. I don't
think there's any evidence out there that he's not going
to be able to win at Mississippi State. Now, what
does win at Mississippi State mean? I think it means
that that you know, he will win seven or eight
games a year on average. Uh, and he will occasionally
(12:58):
blip up and have a really good quarterback. I can
have a chance to contend at a high level for
a top twenty five style Uh. You know, uh job Um.
But but I think I think long term, I would
bet on Mike Leach doing better because I feel like
he's more likely to spend a substantial amount of time there.
Doug Gotlers Show, Fox Sports Radio, Um hmm. I think
(13:23):
the whole thing is fascinating. Ryan Music asked me a
question and I thought it was a good one where
he said, do you think this changes the Saban dynamic
and how dominant has been? And my answer is no right.
Miss cb State has had Dan Mullen and Mississippi had
uh had Hugh Freeze and they were cheating and had
players and they actually beat Alabama. You know, I I
(13:44):
don't think this changes anything other than just makes it
far more entertaining. Yeah. Look, Uh, the SEC West is
pretty stacked right now. If you just want to run through.
You got Saban, who obviously is the most dynastically successful
coach in college football history, I think certainly in our lifetimes.
You've got jimbo Fisher, who won a national championship at
Florida State and wanted a very high level there. Uh.
(14:05):
You've got uh coach oh who may well win a
national championship on Monday in New Orleans and is recruiting
his his mind out, you know, like in terms of
what he's doing there. Uh. You've got Gus Milson, who
played for a national championship and came about what one
minute away from winning one and has had fairly decent
success at times at Auburn. You've got Kiffen, who has
(14:27):
proven that he can recruit at an incredibly high level.
And Mike Leach, who took I believe I'm correct in
this Texas Tech to number one in the country. Uh
during that Michael Crabtree era and beat Texas and obviously
had a tremendous amount of success and was playing for
the PACT twelfth Championship as recently as a year ago
up on the pollute. So I think the SEC West
(14:48):
is as talented as it has ever been from a
coaching perspective, But I don't think it really changes anything. Uh. Look,
I mean Dan Mullin in Mimsissippi States probably as good
of a coach as they are gonna have ever. Uh
if you look at what he's a already done at
Florida East twenty one and five and two years at
Florida he won and took Mississippi State to number one overall.
And like you mentioned, Old miss wanted a historically different
(15:08):
level than ever before in the modern era anyway post integration,
than they ever had before under you Freeze. So the
SEC West has has been and always will be incredibly
uh incredibly competitive. But I don't think this changes anything
for Alabama. It's not like suddenly Old Miss or Missisipi
State are gonna have better players. Uh. Okay, let me
ask you about the Titans obviously anybody who's pay attention.
(15:30):
Once Tannehill took over, it was a different team. But
you were there, you were tweeting about it, like this
thing was. They were terrible, they were a mess, and
they've been excellent, right, I mean, they've there eight and
three in their last eleven since they put gave Tannehill
of the job. They were two and four and almost
impossible to watch. I don't remember the exact score, but
I think they lost to Denver something like sixteen to nothing. Uh.
(15:54):
And they lost the week before that fourteen to seven
to the Buffalo Bills. So they went a process there
where they basically could not score and the offense was
atrocious to watch. And Ryan Tannehill got the job and basically,
snap of the fingers, everything changed and the play action
passing game has been phenomenal. A J. Brown has come on.
(16:15):
He looks like, you know, regardless of how he looks
on Saturday against Baltimore, he looks like talking about the
Mississippi players, I mean, he's an old miss guy. That
that that uh that laying sorry, that's a Hugh Freeze
brought in. They look like A J. Brown does. He's
gonna be one of the top ten players at the
wide receiver position for years and years to come. Now
and UH and Tennessee, the Titans look like a legitimate
(16:39):
big time offense. I mean, they've averaged thirty point four
points per game essentially since they gave the job to
Ryan Tannehill, So I don't know how he's gonna do.
He obviously did not have a great game against the Patriots.
Patriots have the best past defense in the NFL and
obviously a guy by the name of Belichick who's pretty
good it's scheming things up. Second best past defense in
the NFL is the Baltimore Ravens, so they're obviously gonna
(17:01):
try to slow down Derrick Henry. We'll see where the
play action game works better. But I think for the
Titans there is a reason for decent amount of optimism,
not just this year, but potentially for the next couple
of years. Great stuff, dude, thanks for joining us. I
knew you'd have an interesting take on the SEC and UH.
All of a sudden, now it becomes a between coach Oh,
who's obviously not going anywhere, and all the competitive It's
(17:24):
incredible theater, I mean, just high end entertainment. If nothing
else and Mike Leach and Lane Kiffin in the same
state is I mean makes the Egg Bowl I think
the most interesting rivalry and all the college sports. Right now,
that's Clay Travis. He'll kick the coverage morning show here
on Fox Sports Trader. Thanks so much, Clay. Yeah, no work,
especially lock it in a TV show. He's getting ready
to go. Do be sure to catch the live edition
(17:44):
of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific. Earlier to day, the Giants introduced their
new head Coach's name is Joe Judge. Take a listen.
I want the people to pay their hard earned money
to come to our games. And note the players on
the field play with the same attitude they wake up
with every morning. That is blue collar. It's hard work,
and they can invest their money in our program, but
(18:06):
is representing their neighborhoods, their communities, and their families with
the values they have and still in their children. We
will practice with a physical attitude. We will practice and paths.
We will practice live tackling. Not to make a statement
that we're trying to be tough. We're gonna practice live
tackling because I believe in doing it safely. There's not
commny shortcuts what we have to do. It's a tough division.
It's a tough division and cities full of tough people.
(18:28):
You know this is quite obviously. Uh. I don't think
it's it's not just Joe Judges beliefs like that's not
just what's it at stake here. I think there's a
good portion of it, a good portion of it, which
is this is how we got the job right. He
knew that. This is where Mike what Mike McCarthy told
(18:49):
Jerry Jones, understand the room, understand what needs to be said,
and do those things. Alright. Take a listen to what
Dave Gettleman said earlier today. People say it's a passing league.
I get that, but you know that graphic on Sunday
afternoon should not have been lost on everybody. Top four
passing teams were not in the playoffs. The top four
rushing teams were in the playoffs. Don't quote me, but
(19:13):
most of the teams were on the top I think
twelve in terms of rushing. So again, it's a physical,
violent game. And if you don't build your team to
do that late in the year, when the weather is lousy,
and it's it's mush out there. The tougher to team
is gonna win. He's, by the way, he's not wrong,
Okay in terms of the stats. I mean they don't
(19:35):
in fact lie, The stats do not lie. But but
he also it could be pointed out. I mean, like, look,
this is Judge understanding the room, understanding what Gettleman needed
to hear it do in order to get the job.
I mean, look, some of these coaches, they'll just it's
not that they'll say anything that needs to be said
in order to get the job, but a little bit, right,
(19:58):
a little bit, and I think it's it's absolutely positively
fascinating to hear or to see exactly what happens next,
what happens with Matt Rule, who's saying all these great things?
What happens with Joe Judge. But Carolina needed somebody who
believed in Carolina and believed in building in Carolina. Matt
(20:20):
Rule said, I believe in building in Carolina. I'm a builder.
I have taken bad, you know, bad teams and turned
them around and built them. Joe Judge knew that if
you're gonna win over Dave Gettleman you got about to
talk about toughness and tackling and running the football, and
Mike McCarthy knew that he had to go in and say, like, man,
(20:42):
I love Kellen Moore, I love Dak Prescott, I love
the Dallas Cowboys, and I love analytics. It doesn't mean
that these guys are liars. It just means you'd better
know the trigger points you want to get the job.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

welcome to Bruce Gradkowski played uh in the NFL for
eleven seasons. Now he's an analyst for Pro Football Focus.
Make sure you got a Pro Football Focus It's PFF
dot com and get all the best in depth NFL analysis.
Bruce um I said this yesterday with Matt Rule. I
(21:26):
feel a little bit of of the same with Joe Judge.
I like the passion, I love the raw ra I
don't really know how much that wins you any football games,
let alone like this is not college in terms of
your energy and recruiting. How much does it matter? In
the real world of the NFL. These two gentlemen's approach. Uh,
(21:47):
you know, Matt, you know, I get it, Like they
both sound the part Matt role and you know Judge.
I like what Judge was saying today. Um, And I
think the New York media and being with the Giants,
you have to have a little bit of that. I
think that's what Adam Gaze lax over there in Jersey.
I think Shermer lacked a little bit. So they need
(22:10):
some spunk. And I like what he brings. I like
what you're saying. I think also being a special team's coach, Um,
you know, you do have to navigate both sides of
the football. You have to know players, not just one side.
I like that from him. He's coach under some good guys. Look,
it sounds good, but you bring up a great point.
(22:30):
How does it translate and can he actually translated and
get the guys to do the work on the field.
Does that correlate to win It's a great question. Obviously
it helps when you have really good players, but you
have to get the really good leaders, uh, in the
players that you get. Bruce Gidkowski joins us on the
Doug Golly show. Does Mike McCarthy made the Cowboys better? Yeah,
I think he does for sure. I think he spent
(22:52):
this last season just reevaluating and stuff. I know he
did some work with Pro Football Focus, UM, so he
was with us a little bit and got to use
our systems, see what we do. And I think that
will help. But I don't. It's not everything right. I
think as a coach you have to evolve and could
you continue to learn and grow And I think this
past year gave him an opportunity to sharpen his tolls
(23:14):
as a coach. His offense will keep calling Moore, So
that's some continuity with dak Um when you know it
win and if they extend his deal, um, and I
think it's a good situation. Look, he's a veteran coach.
He's been to the big stage. He's one of the
big dance, so he can't get it done. I'm a
fan of McCarthy. He's a Pittsburgh guy. I'm a Pittsburgh guy,
so I I like the higher um and we'll see
(23:37):
him because that division, Man, it's not like someone takes
it away year in and year out. So I think
with three new head coaches in that division. It's really
up for grabs, British joining us in the doug out
lips you on Fox Sport Traitler. Let's let's let's get
to this weekend's games. Let's start with the biggest name quarterbacks,
Russell Wilson Aaron Rodgers. I guess my question about Wilson
(23:59):
is like, look, they were built this year around running
the football the first three quarters and then he would
magically make a play in the fourth quarter. Right, he's lost,
he lost his top three running backs. Now he has
Marshawn Lynch back. Um, you know, doesn't have a ton
to work with. And I'm not sure we've got a
great sense of how good they are because they beat
a depleted Eagles team that lost their one star last week.
(24:20):
What are your thoughts on the Seahawks taking on the Packers. Yeah,
I mean you bring up some great points and those
are my concerns as well. But we're you know, we
tend to always said and we've been saying that for
a few weeks, and it's like, Russell Wilson does Russell
Wilson things, and it's hard to really bet against him.
And he's going on the road a tough environment. I
(24:41):
think DK Metcalf brings his you know, handful of plays
like he did last week. You got Tyler Lockett. I
think i'd like to see them. Just put it on
Russell's Wilson's shoulders. Just let him win or lose you
this football game, because that's how you're gonna have to
win it. I think on the other side of the ball,
I think it's gonna be key for Zadarius Smith. Impression
(25:02):
Smith to get after Russell Wilson, contain him in the pocket,
get a few sacks. It's not it could be a
long football game. I think Rogers in that offense. You know,
Rogers has done a great job protecting the football. The
key to this game is gonna be Aaron Jones. How
do they move him around, navigate him, get him throws?
I don't think that. You know, Seattle does a great
(25:22):
job with the running back out of the backfield. Um,
so it's gonna come down to Aaron Jones. Is gonna
come down to Seattle's defense. They've been an opportunistic defense
as far as turnovers, third and takeaways. So they do
a really good job. And look, man, I'm gonna put
my money on Russell Wilson. I'm gonna do it on
the road. I just think he's gonna pull it out
some way, some fashion, even though it doesn't look like
(25:45):
it could be possible. I think Wilson gets it done. Wow.
I think Russell Wilson pulls off the upset and and
and and beat him. Do you think Russell Wilson is
currently a better quarterback than Aaron Rodgers Man. That's a
great question in I mean, that's tough because I love
both these guys. They're just unbelievable players. Um. I just
(26:08):
think Russell Wilson has shown it more this year, so
I think right now, yes. I think Aaron Rodgers, though,
has done it forever and he has that capability in him.
So that's why, you know, the end of the half,
the end of the ball game, it's gonna be interesting
to see which quarterback steps it up, because that's what's
gonna have to win you this game. Rogers. All year,
(26:30):
it's been a good Green Bay football team winning football games.
I want to see Rogers just take over the game
like we're used to seeing in the past. Britishkowski joining
us in the doug otlip Show um last year. Last year,
Lamar Jackson struggled in the playoffs. It was his first
year in the NFL. They weren't as committed to this style.
They they've They've added some personnel as well, but now
(26:52):
they're taking on Dan P's defense. Of course, Danps used
to be the coordinator of the Ravens when they took
on Greg Roman in the Super Bowl, a win for
for the Ravens. Uh does Tennessee have a have a
puncher's chance here? Like their their defense and running game
on a short week to prepare for a very unique style,
do you believe they can keep this thing close? You know,
(27:14):
the Times are playing with a lot of confidence right now.
You go onto the road and you beat the Patriots
in their home stadium, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, the Times
are seven oh when when you know Derrick Henry rushers
for over a hundred yards. I think tan Hill is
playing with a lot of confidence. Even though he didn't
have the best game last week. They won and I
think the key to this game now is is the
(27:34):
Ravens offense and that running game. How healthy is marketing? Grom?
But also the tight ends? How you know much do
they get the tight ends evolved? Because that's what they're
used to. Mike Mark Andrews has had a fantastic year
for the Ravens and the Times have struggled against tight
ends a little bit. So I think it's important to
see what the Ravens do if they can stay you know,
ahead of the Chains, not getting the third down and longs.
(27:57):
I think the Ravens win this one. Doug All show
Fox Sports trading all right, then he got Kanna City
taken on the Texans. We've actually seen this before. The
Texans have beating them in Kancity. Intriguing matchup of two
young star NFL quarterbacks. Um, Kansas City makes it makes
a habit of losing earlier than they should and at home?
(28:17):
Does that change this year? You know, that Week six
matchup was interesting because Mahomes through his first interception of
the year. It was the end of the first half
where Mahomes fumbled, backed up and gave you know, the
Texans up on the two yard line with twenty three
seconds left in the second quarter. So I don't expect
that Mahomes to do that again. And you know, so
(28:39):
I expect that you know, Kansas City to win at home.
The key to this game, though, is I mean, de
Shaun Watson. We've seen it so many times, even the
first time they played in Week six, the Texas are
down sevent team three and he comes back. I mean,
and we saw what he did last week against the
bilt He comes back, he wills his team to victories
and it's awesome to watch. And I think this game, though,
(29:01):
I think Kansas City wins at home, it'sically be such
a fun game to watch with Watson and Mahomes going
at it. But I look to see Casey's offense is
too hard to stop. What's the pressure like going to
be for Jimmy Garoppolo. Um, you know, there's there's obvious
expectations of great things for this team. You know, Minnesota
survives on the road and people still are buying into
(29:23):
Kirk Cousins. But this is his first playoff start. What
do you think of the pressure for him to perform? Yeah,
I mean, you know, we talked about it earlier a
little bit on the NFL radio, and I was saying that, look,
who give me g back up? For all those years
Tom Brady, He's used to seeing how Tom Brady prepared,
(29:44):
how he was in big moments, big games, Super Bowls,
so he's been to the Big Dance, He's gone through
this playoff run as a backup, so he's watched it
from afar, but actually pretty up closed. Um, I expect
Jimmy the ball out. I think there's something in him
that he has that it's factor. Sometimes he doesn't always
you know, play the best or you know, will always
(30:06):
have a few turnover worthy plays, but he has that
a factor. So when it's in big moment's, key games
like this, I expect him the ball out. The thing
you know I want to see is you know, the
Minnesota defense. You know, I think Jimmy g will have
his day with easy completions, the screens. Kyle Shanahan runs
the run game. I think they could stay ahead of
(30:27):
the chains, will give the offense a great opportunity, and
San Franz defense has to step up and stop the run.
I mean, what we've seen what Dallyn Cook has done
the last few weeks is pretty special. And match that
up with's with the play action passed with Kirk Cousins
and the way he played and getting that monkey off
his back last week winning a big game on the road.
It's gonna be interesting to see and the Niners defense
(30:50):
is a good job in the secretary eliminating UH or
limiting explosive plays. So but I still think the Niners
pull this one off at home. I think Jimmy Jimmie
offense is just too much and they can move the
ball up and down the field. Brush Gradkowski joining us
in the doug Otlips Show on Fox Sports Radio. UM,
last thing, UM, what about Cousins? Um, when when you
(31:14):
guys at Pro Football Focus, UH broke him down? Obviously
MA an amazing throw late UH in overtime to Feeling
which got them in to where he could throw that
little third down you know, pitch and catch to to
Kyle Rudolph, which was also a strike. But there were
three drives when they had they had lead, and they
kind of went turtle in a shell. Some of that's
played calling, some of that was his lack of confidence.
(31:35):
How well did Kirk Cousins play when you actually broke
it down? Yeah, I mean he graded the best out
of the quarterbacks UH and wild Card weekend, and I
think his turnty death of twenty plus yards down field
he graded at ninety four point seven with two big
time throws. UM. He was good on third down, and
and I think you're going to have those lalls in
(31:56):
playoff games. You're not gonna I mean, look, the defense
is good too. You're gonna be playing tough teams. Um,
it's how you handle those ups and downscre out of
football game and make enough plays or one more play
better than the other team. And that's what Cousins did.
He hit that bomb, uh to dealing over the shoulders,
that deep angle route, the seven route, um corner route
(32:18):
and what a catch by feeling. So those guys made
the necessary plays when they had to, and that was
pretty cool to see. I was happy for Mike Zimmer,
he was the defensive coordinating routes with the Bangers Bengals.
I love the guy. He does a fantastic job. So
I was happy for the vigl Um. Okay, in your study,
how how much difference is there in Tom Brady now
(32:38):
versus you know, old Tom Brady? Yeah, I mean I
couldn't imagine still playing it at the age he is,
you know, And I think when you get to that
point in your physical abilities, you're moving in the pocket,
your arm strength just a little bit. When you lose
some of those, it's hard because you lose a little
confidence and now you don't want to take that hit
(33:00):
from the pocket, or you're unsure how to hit you know,
how much to put on a ball downfield in in
some situations. Look, he didn't have all the weapons around him.
I think Brady can still be successful if they get
more pieces around him, or if he goes somewhere that
has a good offensive line and some weapons outside. I mean,
he still has his mind. His arm is good enough still,
(33:23):
so he could still do it. But he's not the
Tom Brady of the past. But I still think he
has some good football left in him. Drew Breese, how
big a drop off has there been in his performance?
I Mean, Breeze is so fun to watch because the
guy continues to do a year in and year out.
But the thing I love about Breeze is he puts
the work in. You know, we saw the video Saturday
after walk throughs. He's walking through every single play on
(33:46):
the script, you know, going through his footwork and his
reads and his progressions and audibles. And you don't think
Breeze knows that offense. He's been in it for how
many years and he continues to do that. That's what's
so impressive to me that he's not complacent. He continues
to put the work in. I think Breeze still has
good football left in him. I think, you know, with
with that offense, with Sean Payton and what they do
(34:08):
around him, he can be successful. And and my thing,
you know, I keep Breeze, I keep tastom hell and
I have that one to punch like they did this year.
You just taste them hell all over the field like
you've been doing, and I think they could still be successful.
