(00:26):
Up America, Doug Gottlib Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
This is what happens when he changed clocks. Seriously, this
is what it is. I'm telling you. Can we stop
with this madness? Seriously? I know like forty eight states
do it, and maybe parts of Arizona and Indiana don't,
but this is absurd. It's absolutely ridiculous. It's a technical
(00:47):
issues with Doug Gottlib. If you don't know what I'm
talking about, I am Dan Buyer sitting in Doug Gottliebs chair. Momentarily,
we hope to get everything sorted out. College basketball season
started last night, so you know, Dougs on the road
for that calling the Colorado State game against Oral Roberts.
So we're just having some connection issues, but we hope
to touch base with Doug In the meantime, You've got me,
(01:07):
You've got j Stu, you got Iowa Sam. As we
are sitting in today here on Fox Sports Radio, a
lot coming up. Jay Glazer will be joining us in
about twenty minutes or so to break down what's happening
in the NFL, including the story we're about to talk
about in a bit than an NFL VET and now
NFL analyst Solomon Wilcons will join us coming up in
the four o'clock Eastern time hour, and Daniel Jeremiah checks
(01:31):
in Every Wednesday. We will break down the NFL and
uh what not, with Daniel Jeremiah coming up later on
in the show, but we do start with Odell Beckham Jr.
Who continues to be a free agent. And the saga
around oh b J is one that is it's somewhat
familiar to me. It's somewhat familiar when you think of
(01:54):
life in the National Football League. Player maybe a not
happy player who let's just say, didn't produce sini in
his last stop, but yet now is available to the
open market. And while the player was on the team
that he previously was on, we would say this guy
can't play anymore. He just doesn't have it? What's he doing?
(02:16):
I've been critical and saying, what is Odell Beckham Jr? Doing?
Making one hand catches in pregame warmups when he can't
even make two hand catches and games. Those are the
things that we're saying about Odell Beckham Jr. But then
when Odell Beckham Jr. Is off of a team and
he's available for someone else to pick up, hold on
a second, hold the horses here, because we're not talking
(02:38):
about Odell Beckham Junior bust in Cleveland. We are talking
about the former Pro Bowl wide receiver, the All Pro
Caliper wide receiver that as fans sitting on the edge
of their seats making acrobatic catches. This is how the
conversation goes. And you know what, it's pretty down similar
(02:59):
to how we talk about Cam Newton in the NFL.
Because when Cam Newton's playing for the Carolina Panthers or
Cam Newton's playing for the New England Patriots, man Cam
Newton has nothing left. Cam Newton is not the m
v P that he was six years ago. Cam Newton
just doesn't have it. Kemon hasn't doesn't have legs anymore.
Cam Newton doesn't have the accuracy, just doesn't have it.
(03:23):
But when Cam Newton is a free agent, or when
a quarterback goes down in the NFL, what do we say, Oh,
maybe Cam Newton's gonna be heading to Seattle because Russell
Wilson injured his finger. Maybe Cam Newton could be I
don't know, going back to Carolina because Sam Donald's out
four to six weeks. This is exactly what we're doing
(03:44):
with Odell Beckham Jr. And the same results that you
got with Cam Newton in his one season in New
England are likely going to be the results you're going
to get with Odell Beckham Jr. You would like to
say that Baker Mayfield was the root of all of
those problems, but let's be honest, that is just not
the case. That is not when you see what the
Bronze were able to do without Odell Beckham Jr. Against
(04:07):
the Bengals without Kareem Hunt in that game this past weekend.
Baker Mayfield is not the reason that Odell Beckham Jr.
Is a free agent. Odell Beckham Jr. Is the reason
that Odell Beckham Jr. Is a free agent right now.
But it is what it is and that old saying
it is what it is. It is apropos here because
there appears to be a market for Odell Beckham Jr.
(04:30):
So while we can treat him like we do Cam
Newton situations, I think you have to be realistic in
what Odell Beckham Jr. Would actually provide for a team
and if it fits for that team moving forward. And
we found out today a report from Diana Rossini and
ESPN says that the front Runners finalist narrow down jayst
(04:53):
what would you you would you say finalist? Would you
say front runners? When we talk about the three teams
that Odell beck Him Jr. Is likely to choose from,
I like front runners. I kind of like that term.
So basically, what you're saying is that these are the
three teams that oh b J's camp has leaked that
he's determining which teams he wants to go to. But
that doesn't imply that any of those teams are interested.
(05:15):
That is true. And it also if you say front
runners like finalists, makes it seem like they advanced from
the semifinal round and defeated other teams. So I like
front runners, especially off of our breeders Cup visit. That's
a lot better because maybe there is a team that
right now is running eight around the first turn and
at some point could maybe just come up from behind
(05:35):
and and grab victory right at the post. But right now,
the three front runners are the Green Bay Packers, Kansas
City Chiefs, in New Orleans Saints. And from the bit
that we know about where Odell Beckham Jr. Was thinking
about going, we had heard wants a veteran quarterback, a
capable veteran quarterback, wants a playoff team. Yeah, wants a winner,
(05:58):
wants it, wants a really good situation in And Doug
Gottlieb was the one that pointed out on Twitter and
on the show this week, if you wanted to stay
with a playoff caliber team, he had one in Cleveland,
but that didn't work. So so now as you look
at at the landscape of where we are in the
National Football League, and I don't know, there's a lot
of love wanting to come from Kansas City, and even
(06:20):
when the Chiefs do bad, you still think that Patrick
Mahomes and Andy Reid will turn it around. But right now,
when you look at the National Football League, even with
the Browns injuries, there's there's a there's a scenario where
you'd have to almost say that the Browns are a
better situation than the Kansas City Chiefs right now. So
(06:40):
I would take the Chiefs almost out of that situation,
and then you would leave it down to the two
front runners. That would be the Packers and the Saints.
And if you're talking about quarterbacks, the Saints had Trevor
Simeons start last week against Atlanta. Tsom Hill got some
starts or got some snaps for the New Orleans Saints
against the line of Falcons. So you take the Saints
(07:01):
out of the equation, so that leavest one front runner.
And it was the team that I said yesterday, And
that is why I believe in the end, Odell Beckham Jr.
Will go to the Green Bay Packers. Despite despite the
reports that Odell Beckham Jr. May Have gotten a minimum
offer from Green Bay, I don't think that's going to
be a big deal. In the end, I think you'll
see Odell Beckham Jr. A member of the Green Bay Packers.
(07:22):
What does Doug Gottlieb think about it, Well, let's ask him.
He's right here. Thanks, thanks Dan. So it's it's fascinating,
Like your thought process and you and I hadn't even
talked is kind of similar, right, Like can you imagine
the video that Odell Beckham Jr's father, Odell Beckham Senior,
would put out on Trevor Simeon like or Taysom Hill
Like if you didn't like Mayfield, you're gonna guess that
(07:44):
Trevor Simeon and Taysom Hill are not gonna do it
for you, you know. And um, look I I and
the Chiefs thing sounds sexy and sounds great because he's
an elite quarterback. But a blind man can look at
that team and say, another wide receiver does not fix
all the problems of the Chiefs, you know. If anything,
it probably makes it worse. Because all we've been told
(08:06):
is they need to run the football. They need possession
wide receivers, right, they need to well what's It's the
old Hankstram line, the need to matriculate the ball down
the football field. And what happens is and you pointed
out with the minimum veterans minimum contract. You know, I'm
sure on social media people freak out, Oh you're here's
the Packers being cheap low balling him, like no, dude,
(08:29):
this is just like a buy out in the NBA,
where all of those guys play for nothing relatively Right.
For you and me, that's a lifetime of wealth to
play for a million dollars or whatever for the remainder
of the season. But to them, it's it's relatively nothing
in comparison to what they think their next deal would be.
But remember, he took a buy out. I think it's
only four and a half million of the seven seven
a half million that he was owed. But he has
(08:50):
that money in his pocket, and if he signs a
short term deal, then the idea is he shows that
he's not washed up. He's got a chance to him
get a new contract next year Green Bay or or otherwise. Right,
So I'm with you. I think the Packers absolutely positively
make the most sense. It doesn't mean that Odell Beckham Jr.
Will make the deal that makes the most sense, but
(09:10):
it does speak to something that I think is incredibly important.
All Right, what was the story coming into the season
in regards to the Green Bay Packers? What was the
narrative that you have heard for really the last two years,
And it goes back years with the Packers, which is
you know, they don't get Aaron Rodgers any help. They
don't draft wide receivers, they don't draft skill position guys,
(09:32):
although they did draft A. J. Dillon going back two
years ago, and he appears to be um an elite
running back or a guy who could become their starting
running back as they bid a dude to Jamal Williams
in the off season. And so that that takes us
to how this all effects Aaron Rodgers. But in regards
to Odell Beckham Jr. There's a lot to it. Okay,
(09:53):
no one knows if he's if he was coasting because
he was pouting, or if he's unable to actually function
at a high level because he has sustained to season
ending injuries over I think what the past four years like,
this is a guy who is an elite wide receiver,
but that was before you know, he heard himself in
New York. That was before he heard himself last year.
(10:14):
And there's been naking, uh aching, nagging injuries as well.
But if you want to tell me that you want
to go to a winner, and remember he left a
team that has the potential to be a winner, well,
I like Sean Payton, I have no issues with that,
and clearly, without Michael Thomas the rest of the season,
they're going to need somebody to throw the football to.
The problem is, there's no Jamis, there's no Drew Brees.
(10:36):
He ain't walking through that door. You're stuck with Taysom Hill,
and you're stuck with a quarterback in Trevor Simeon who
feels like a lifetime backup. A good backup, but a
lifetime backup. Playing at home is great, and playing to
just scrape in the playoffs sounds great. But if you
really want to compete and show yourself, wouldn't you be
better off playing with an elite level quarterback? Right? You
have to show that you can function in a room
(10:58):
of Alpha's because he couldn't function in that room when
he wasn't getting the football. He couldn't function. And the
call out was, I'm not playing with a good enough quarterback.
I'm not playing in a system that gets me the football.
You can't make that argument here, you absolutely cannot. So um,
I'm with you. I think green Bay becomes the pick.
(11:19):
And if you remember, like again, I'm gonna pat you
on the back because you said green Bay yesterday, right,
that's remember that correct, right, you said Green Bay yesterday
and uh, I said New Orleans before he was officially released,
but that was also before um Jamis Winston got hurt. Right,
It changes all the dynamic in terms of who you're
(11:40):
playing with. But I think the Packers the Seahawks are
are are one in which the Seahawks clearly they they're
gonna make a push whether they get him or not,
because they didn't get Antonio Brown and that ticked off
Russell Wilson. They're trying to kind of like the Packers,
make nice with their quarterback. But again another wide verse. Ever,
(12:00):
when you have too that are very talented, that already
most people think don't get the football enough, bringing in
Odell Beckham Jr. Doesn't fix your problems. It probably creates
more problems. The reason I think it would work in
Green Bay, and I'm not I was a big Odell
Beckham junior fan. I don't like any parts of how
he's handled himself going back to his last year in
(12:20):
New York up until Cleveland. The reason it works is
you have to have a quarterback who if he doesn't
give him the ball, you're not going to question the quarterback.
And in a room full of wide receivers. Remember his
best friend was on the other side of him in Cleveland,
and they couldn't make it work. But I don't think
(12:41):
anyone questions how good Davantae Adams is. They've constantly been
looking for a number two, and winning does cure all ills.
And you do have a magician back there with Aaron Rodgers.
Would Mahomes make sense, of course, But that team doesn't
have a good enough offensive line, doesn't have a quality
running game, doesn't have a good enough defense, and seems
to be a bit of a mess. And I'm not
sure bringing in another guy who wants the football fixes
(13:04):
any of their issues. So I think we're aligned. We
just don't know what Oldell Beckham Jr. Is gonna pick.
Only time will tell s. Doug Gotlieb Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. Thanks so much, h thanks so much
for hanging with us. I really appreciate Dan Buyer as well.
Coming up next, coming up next, and this this part
(13:25):
is important, Okay, coming up next? Who I love this
speaking of the Green Bay Packers in a in a world,
if you will, in a world where the Green Bay
Packers can do no right, I'm not sure they've done
any wrong. I just don't in regards to this one player.
(13:48):
The fines have been levied towards the team, towards the player.
Why it's a win for the Packers. That's up coming
next in The Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio. Be
sure to catch the live edition of The Doug Gottlieb
Show week days at three p m. Easter noon Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio, a
app Doug Ali Show here on Fox Sports Radio. What
(14:15):
does that music? Are we doing? The holiday music? Thing?
Is that? Is that? What's that? What's happened? That's what
that you guys can tell me? Is that is? That's
what I had I had mentioned Iowa Sam last time
he was in that there's a song called Seasons by
Future Islands that I've always liked. It's an alternative song,
and I guess he just took it upon himself to
bump in with it today. It's not a holiday song, Doug.
(14:37):
It's just about the season's changing, because we are still
in fall here despite commercials telling you otherwise. Yeah, I'm
I'm a little I'm conflicted on this thing. Like I
get that you know, it's been it's the last year
and a half has been a lot for everybody. And
nothing makes you feel you should make you feel happier
than the holiday season. But like we've skipped over Thanksgiving?
(14:59):
Yes we? What the hell happened? Thanks was the best?
It's the best. There's there's no religious divide, right, It's
about unity and family and football and lots of food. Like,
who do I like thanks You ever like Thanksgiving? But
we just skipped it. We're just like, let's admit it,
Let's go right to the holiday season. And that's what
it made me think with that seasons change the thing. Um,
(15:21):
I'm not a micro manager, as you guys know you
guys do you you do your thing? I would tell
you that generally bumping back a little something, a little
something something, right, we'll get a little little something something.
But I totally agree Doug. The Christmas commercial starting in
November one has rankled me to no end. I've never
(15:43):
been rankled before, but I think I may be rankled.
I think we may we have may have found some
common wrankling. There's some there's some rankling there. It's safe
to say that Aaron Rodgers has been rankled previously by
the Green Bay Packers. Right, remember the but before the
prescott with the immunization, not the inoculation. There was the
(16:05):
there was the presentation of issues by Aaron Rodgers. Why
he wasn't around all summer, why he chose to take
his his sweet time before he got into camp. And
what has bothered him is not the players. It's not
the coaches, it's Bryan Gunkunst, right, it's the front office.
It's the lack of feeling like when you're connected and
(16:27):
they're listening to you. Hey, man, I've been doing this
a long time. I might have some advice for you.
Look at all these guys, these star players that were
great players here that we've been a dude too, Right,
Has there been a better week for the Green Bay
Packers in relation to um they're acquiescing to the desires
(16:50):
of Aaron Rodgers then this week like he I mean, like, look,
even Pat McAfee pushed back against him a little bit.
He's got plenty of friends in the league and guys
that want to show their support. And there's I'm sure
some guys in the locker room. Alan Lazard not vaccinated, right,
And I'm sure he's like, hey, thanks for taking up
for me. But but in terms of real friends, think
(17:15):
about what the packers have done, and we can get
into the fines. I think my my issue with the
fines and people comparing the fines. We do this all
the time with people comparing sentences for criminals. That guy
got five years when this guy gets twenty five years. Well, yeah,
there's a lot more to it. How many times has
he been convicted of a crime? What are the laws
(17:38):
in that particular state, What is the nature of the
actual crime, was there a weapon, was the weapon registered?
Like all of these different things. You know, did he
go to trial or did he settle early? If you
plead out, you're going to get a lesser sentence. We
do this all the time in in in real life,
Like I can't believe that that guy got six months
(17:59):
in jail or that guy got probation and this guy
got five years in jail, Like, dude, there's a lot
more to it, right, a lot more to it. The
perfect example is um Ray Rice. Right, Ray Rice got
nothing right pre trial, diversionary hearing, he got probation. Now
he lost his job. He'd never been back in the
(18:21):
National Football League, and that signified a sea change in
how the NFL viewed and dealt with domestic violence. Plexico Burrows,
who's works with us here up on Games, the show
you can hear on Saturdays on Fox Sports Radio. Plexico
Verus went to jail for shooting himself in the leg right.
He didn't shoot anybody else, didn't waved the gun in
(18:42):
the areas, shot himself. But it's a very strict law
in the state of New York, you know, having an
unlicensed firearm, and they tried to make a point that
no one is above the law, and so he went
to jail for it, as opposed to Ray Rice, who
what he did was actually violence towards somebody actually married,
but their video of it it's awful. The difference is
(19:03):
one guy was in a situation where he plet out,
Plexico was in it. It was in a different state,
and the law was really there's no wiggle room mandatory sentencing.
So I mean, and I'm not saying I know enough
about the law. I just know enough and talk to
(19:24):
enough people that do know about the law to tell you, like,
everything has to do with context, where the crime was committed,
the all kinds of other things. So when people are
pointing out Green Bay Packers only played three hundred thousd
allar fine fourteen thousand dollars to Aaron Rodgers, and he
was lying about the procedures and what he was doing.
And look at the Saints like, look what the Saints did.
(19:44):
And whether you like it or don't like it, but
the Saints did. I know. I was doing sports radio
at the time. I was paying attention. They the league
found out they were having bounties. They came in and
said no more bounties, and the Saints said, got it,
no problem. I know what they did, kept having bounties.
(20:04):
Now only do that. But then there's video of Greg
Williams from a videoing crew right before the NFC Championship game.
Then there's video of a Saints player hitting Bret Farve
and saying, pay me my money. So they were told
repeatedly shut this down. They said, okay, you know what
they didn't do, shut it down, the Green Bay Packers.
(20:29):
But but here's my argument. If I'm the Packers, I
pay us fine, pay us pay and Roger's fine, and
just go, hey man, we're good. You know, we wish
you would have been vaccinated, but we're good. You're our guy,
we have shown loyalty. There's there was, there's been no
(20:49):
reaction by the Green Bay Packers. There's been no we're
disappointed sources say we're disappointed in Aaron Rodgers. None of that.
And now, whether you like the offer, don't like the offer,
at least they're making an offer towards Odell Beckham Jr.
In terms of what Aaron Rodgers has asked for support,
They've given him, players, they've given him, and hey, can
(21:11):
we at least think about bringing in other people to
help us make one last push? All right, let's get
to Jay Glazer, Uh, Fox Sports NFL insider, who I mean,
obviously got Veterans Day and no, guy has no, no, no,
I don't believe there's anybody on television and maybe in
sports television history who's done more actual, more work for
veterans and helping them reintegrate or helping those that are
(21:34):
injured with with his with his jim and with his
time and with his money than Jay Glazer. He joins
us in the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
I want to talk football with you. But first, Jay,
where does that come from? Like like a family of veterans?
Do you have a friend, like, where does all this
come from? Because, as I pointed out, I know you
are gotten to know you and this is not for TV.
(21:54):
This is the passion of your off television life, no doubt, man,
you know think you know where it came from. Its
just man, you know, God gave me this ability to communicate.
And I connect with warriors. I connect with you know,
our combat vets. I connect with other fighters. I connect
with football players, and I just saw its commonality a
long time ago of their struggle when the uniform came off.
(22:17):
And for me, like you know, my dym unbreakable, it's
about building community. And you know, for me, I thrive
in a locker room. I thrive in a locker room environment.
And that's why I started fighting in the first place. Also,
like man, I felt if I had a fight team, Uh,
the roommates in my head talked a little bit nicer
to each other. But when I wasn't around them, I
didn't have that. That's when I struggled. So I literally
(22:39):
looked at it like, man, I know it's not the
same job. I get it. But our war fighters look
up to our our pro athletes are pro athletes look
up to our our combat vets. Let's put them together,
merge them together and just kind of make it suck
a little bit less for when the uniform comes off,
and get them to understand where their greatness is. And
you know, honestly putting together, we're seven cities now and
(23:00):
in six years, and what I've learned from these people,
it's unbelievable. Again, I'm I'm the one who gets to
communicate it out there, but I learned from them, and
then I just kind of keep it's pure on pure counseling.
So I just keep you know, relaying what I what
I've learned from them to everywhere I possibly can. And
it's you know, for um, you know I I I
(23:22):
just thought a long time ago also like in order
for me to feel a little bit better between my ears,
I gotta be a service. And I've always kind of
done things to be a service, but this one just
it fits. You know. I got to train troops all
over the world in mixed martial arts and it just
all fits together. And you know, for veterans day to
like even like we've had a couple of zooms this week,
I'm like, you know, our vets are so inclined not
(23:45):
to pump themselves up or be proud of themselves and
have individuality, and I'm trying to change that for him.
I want them to be proud of what they've done,
be proud of especially on Veterans Day. Every veteran listening,
tell me to celebrate yourselves. This is a holiday for you.
It's okay, your self permission and love yourself up and
celebrate yourselves on the on the Veteran's Day, And I
(24:05):
mean every day. You really should. So I appreciate you
said so. It's the most important thing I do in life.
I appreciate it. H J. Glazer joining us on The
Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, Odell Beckham Jr.
What do you think he does? Do we lose him?
Do they got a little sketch there? You guys tell
(24:28):
me if we we if we got him back. Of course,
as soon as I get to O b J. It
went out. It probably told us exactly where Odell Beckham Jr.
Is going? And now do do we have do we
have j? All right, we'll get him back, get him
back in a second. Yeah, I mean, look, you know
what what you find in in in this business is.
There are plenty of people who are the real deal.
(24:49):
I think Dick fight Teal is the real deal in
terms of fighting cancer. Of course now he's fighting cancer
and we hope we wish him the best. Uh. And
Jay's that guy for veterans and actually putting in the
work and doing it with his with his workout episode
is all right, let's let's be rejoined by Jay Glazer
Fox NFL Insider. As the teams we have heard, we
(25:10):
have heard our Packers, Saints, uh, and Chiefs. What are
you hearing without put it putting the Patriots and there
also and put in the Seahawks in there. Um, those
are the Chiefs. So those are kind of the five teams.
And look y'all, I think in his mind he'd love
to go someplace with a quarterback with the chance to
win right now. Kind of surprise Baltimore is not in
(25:32):
Originally that was you know, looking at like tack on ha.
They you know, they could always use some help over there,
um the offense and um, you know I've been being
the division hile of Cleveland, but that's not one of
the teams I've been hearing. So you know, then it
comes to Okay, there's not a lot of teams with
an awful lot of cap space, so I think O'Dell
has to look in and go, Okay, what's most important
(25:52):
to me is the top quarterback. Most important to me
is being featured the most. I mean, right now, if
you look at it, the Saint for the team that
he'd probably featured the most right there there. You know
they're dealing with backup You're dealing with backup quarterbacks exactly right.
That's the point. So they have a backup quarterback, but
he'd be featured right then. If you look at Steam
(26:14):
like Green Bay, well he'd be down there, you know, roster.
He wouldn't be number one obviously, give a great quarterback
there in Kansas City. Got a great quarterback there, um,
So it's just there's a lot. And then he might
also say, well, I want to be paid a certain amount,
so that a lot to kind of come into play there.
And look Seattle, you know it's you know, they have
a great quarterback there also, but you know they're in
(26:36):
a you know, in their division right now. Arizona's obviously,
and the Rams are above them, so you have to
kind of look at it. I think there's a lot
that he has to factor in and just he has
to sit down and I know he's sitting down right now,
right what is most important to me? And then kind
of go from there. If I made the case to you,
and I don't know if it matters, Okay, do you
think it matters to Aaron Rodgers that the packers scene
(26:59):
have had his back through all this stuff? Um? Yeah,
so I think it matters. Um yeah, I think it does.
I think it does. I think there's stole a lot
that goes into this so um overall, but I think
so yeah. Um, but that's you know, I mean, it
(27:19):
is just a different cat. No, I know him a
little bit. I know you know him better than right,
But he's right, he's a he's a different cat. And
you know there are and he's one of these guys
that and everyone said has said this about him before
we became friendly, and then we were friendly and then
I don't know if I said something and then like
you're you're just like out which but the problem is
(27:41):
he's still with the packers or maybe in terms of
the packers being out, and I just wonder the fact
that they didn't out him about the immunization thing or
about the mass thing, and you know, the fine that
no one said any sort of thing negative, like, man,
we wish you would have gotten vaccinated. We wouldn't have
missed his last game. We would have won that game.
No one have said anything. I just wonder if Aaron
would do a very unerrand like thing and let them
(28:04):
back in because they've shown some loyalty of late. And again,
one thing I'll never do is trying to figure out
Aaron Rodgers, you know. But yeah, and yeah, we both
know that. But you know, it's interesting because Aaron's never
been just completely stayed like this, and it I don't
care who you are, man, it gets you. It bothers you.
(28:26):
You know. I think people just think that, oh, you're
rich and famous and all the criticism doesn't hurt. It does.
In fact, I think the other way. I think, you know,
those of us somebody like me, I'm more sensitive than
the most people. I don't care like by wow, it's
not an antidepressant, so you know, hold on, hold on,
let's we got a trademark that one. Everybody make sure
(28:48):
you trademark. My wallet's not an antidepressant. Jay Glazier. People
think it is and it's not. So you know, again,
I don't know what's going on between his ears right now,
and he looks like if really affected him. He said, Wow,
this team actually how my back? This is great? Then
you know, could that way in his decision moving forward? Uh?
It possibly can't. Again, I will never predict what Aaron
(29:10):
Rodgers does. Yeah, I can't figure it out, is what
I Also, I can't figure out the Rams, right, there's
so many that they have. They feel like they're better
at quarterback. They obviously have some star players and the
defensive side of the football they bring in Von Miller.
But the two big opportunities they've had at home Cardinals
and Titans, they've gotten laid out. But I still think that.
(29:34):
I still think at the end of year they're gonna
be there. You know, it's been you know, they've had
what eight weeks whatever with Yon Stafford and they haven't
had a you know, They're running backs have been beat
up all year long. I just I think at the
end they'll figure it out. They really will. I'm not.
I'm not concerned about them as everybody else. I think,
you know, playoff time, that's gonna be a team that
(29:55):
man you don't want to go up with Matthter, go
up against Mathter Stafford trumpsa Jack Lazer, our guest here
on the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. Um,
the Dolphins last year won ten games, and they were
shuffling to and fits and it was kind of curious.
And then the off season, late off season rumors about
(30:16):
Deshaun Watson and they've they've they've come into this season
and and two has been injured and still lacking kind
of the wow plays. But it does feel like, I
don't know, doesn't feel like that's a done deal. I mean,
you can't. It reminds me of the Tony Sperrano deal
right where they try to negotiate with Jim Harbaugh and
Tony Sperano was under contract and they threw him another year.
(30:37):
But it's never gonna work, right, Like once you go
once you go out looking, you know you're that relationship
is yeah yeah yeah, Well but here it's it's on
tour to show them me you made the wrong decision,
Like you don't want to do this. It's on him,
right and now he has eight weeks to show it
because I believe that absolutely they'll jump right back in
(30:58):
in the off season. Uh, you know, after he settles.
I know that's part of it too, Like they want
them to settle if they're gonna in order to do
this deal. So there was a lot that went into this,
like he had settled, there was so much other stuff.
But so now it's on tour, he has weeks to show. No,
you can build around me, but I think it has
an uphill battle. Will do that. J You're the best.
I appreciate you joining us, love what you do for veterans.
(31:22):
Thank you so much. Hey Frenny, any vet out there,

You must be to oney one who must be president Colorado, Illinois, Indiana,
Pennsylvania to play gambling problem called one gambler? Can I
can I admit. Can I admit something here, Jake? Can
imit something? You? Uh what, buyer? I just I'll tell
(32:03):
you right. So I grew up in Orange, California, went
to high school in Tustin, California. Tustin had Tusting Marine
Base and the El Toro Marine Base as well, Okay,
both of which are closed now. So I grew up
around and then you know, I've spent a ton of
time in San Diego, which has the biggest population of
all the different service families. And I think everyone, I think,
(32:28):
I don't know, they're all badasses. Marines, I think, are
that there? You gotta be you know, like, I mean,
you've got a real problem you calling the Marines. They
go in, Um, Navy got the Navy fighter pilots as well.
You guys know I have do you guys know I
have like a sub movie thing. I didn't know that. Yeah,
I love sub movies. Like I could do a podcast
on sub movies and I don't know if it'ld be
(32:50):
any good, but I would love to talk about them, right,
like from Dospoot to to Clear and to uh Hunt
for October, which is great um with Kelsey. Yeah, yeah,
I was gonna say Crimson Tide Gene Hackman before they
get on the boat in the rain. Uh speech on
(33:10):
Crimson Tide. I mean, it's a speech that never happens,
but it does it. It's pretty damn good. I mean
it's a it's a it's a good one anyway. I'd
just be honest like I would. I would like who
wouldn't have loved to be in a service academy. I
just don't have that stuff in me. I just don't
like you all that you have. You have the stuff
(33:31):
inside I do wish I had. Like sports. We talked
about toughness, like that's that's the real thing. If you
were going to join a service academy, not at this age,
but if you could pick, you know, you're eighteen years old,
you gotta join one. Which would it be or service man? Um? Yeah,
I'd probably have to go army. I get seasick on
(33:51):
the water and plus you know, if I'm flying planes,
motion sickness again, so army. But I mean to be
a West Point cadet, which is you know another I
mean that like to have that that I think that
would be top level. By the way, they all visited
West Point Um when I was I was coach. Miller
(34:12):
was an assistant coach there. This is like, I'm I'm
probably twelve years old, and we got to my brother
and I got to do a workout at West Point
and then we toured the campus or whatever, and I
was like, this is the most amazing place on the
face of the earth. J ste If you're gonna pick
a service, which is it. I've always been fascinated with
the airborne, the Airborne Division. You know, uh that show
Band of Brothers is about that famous airborne division and
(34:36):
World War Two. And my thing is, I'd love to
jump out of planes if I could skip the part
where I'm getting killed or trying to kill. If I
if I could just jump out of planes all day,
and that that's what I'm into. Now, you've have you
jumped out? I know you've done the bungee thing, which
I'm like hard passed. Have you jumped out a plane? Yes? Yes,
and I want to do it again. If I had
like deep pockets and endless budget, I would. I would
(34:56):
do a lot of of skydiving. I love that stuff.
My sister's skydive I think when she turned eighteen and
she told me she's like she threw up and she
was like, yeah, it wasn't that much fun to throw
up on it, but it was amazing to do right.
But I mean the the adrenaline that you get. I've
never felt more like a badass than when you touch
(35:17):
ground after doing something like that. Even though a pound
guy was strapped to me, I couldn't do it alone,
but it felt like the biggest badass thing I've ever done. Yeah,
I can't do it. I just I just say right now,
I can't jump out of a plane. I've had My
son wants to do it, and I was like, when
you get to be twenty one, you know, you're on
(35:39):
your own. You don't have kids knock yourself out, you know,
because it's the well never something never goes wrong. But okay,
but that zero zero zero is one point one percent
when something does go wrong, like you die. So I'm
gonna pass on that one. Um. I mean, who doesn't
want to be a naval pilot? Right Miramar top gun?
(36:00):
Those guys are cool. So I wish I had. I
wish I had the marine thing right where you just
tougher and batter than everybody else. But I do wish
I was a naval pilot, So I'm gonna go naval pilot. Iowa, Sam.
I would have to pick army as well. My brother
in law's a marine, and um, you know, people complain
about vaccines and how about getting vaccinated for anthrax? Right?
(36:25):
I mean, you know, come on, I mean they go
through a lot. And he is uh, he's only one
year older than me, but he is a man and
I am a child. Be sure to catch the live
edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific. Doug gottlip Show, Fox Awards Radio. Uh,
normally we do uh game time, but we just don't
have time. And Dan's got a really good game and
(36:46):
I want to get to that. So what we're gonna
do is something we normally do. In the second, you
don't care, Here's what the Fox said. And now say
what Shannon Sharper said about the the Packers received for
violating COVID protocols with Aaron Rodgers. We know more now
we have the vaccine. Now, protocol should have been strictly enforced,
(37:09):
the mandate should have been strictly enforced. And to let
this thing get so lacked, to let him just galloping
around like he's the king of the castle, and the
packers to let this go on. And I get it. Packers,
you're running a little scary right now because he had
you shook. He wouldn't take your call. You're flying all
across the country, burning, burning to shareholders gas in the
private jet to meet with him. And I get it.
(37:31):
Let's skip. This is not steep enough. Skip. What's three
hundred thousand dollars? When? When? When? When the partners farms
from CBS and and e FN could every team would
check for a quarter for three hundred million, So what's
three hundred thousand? The currency that team's value the most
skilled isn't money, you know what it is. It's draft, captain,
because that's how you build a team, and it ain't
(37:52):
through money you get the right players. So you start
taking away their ability to get good players. They'll get
the picture. So I don't think this was nearly enough
because it went on over a period of time. Step
of had gone one or two weeks and they put
a stop to it. Okay, get you three on the thousand,
because you did put a stop to it, But because
(38:13):
they allowed it to go on and on and on,
I don't believe it was enough. It was enough for
the Packers and the NFL should be ashamed of himself.
I guess the question becomes, what what is it? When
is it enough? You know? What what is the what
is the fine that is enough? You know you're really
gonna take away draft picks? And we we don't know.
(38:37):
I don't know if he was wearing his mask in
the facility and simply didn't where it when he was
out in public, you know, I don't know. I do
know that that what has been reported was he told
them that he was immunized, not vaccinated. And I'm guessing
there's lots of people in the NFL that thinks some
(38:58):
of these rules are silly, and of course they end
up getting Look, all of those fines don't actually matter.
If the Packers were complicit in what Aaron Rodgers was doing,
they got the old karma gods by him getting COVID
right before they played. The Chiefs were beatable, and the
Seahawks they got their's. You don't need any more additional
(39:19):
punishment other than whatever three dollars, That's what the Fox said.
Coming up next, Salomon Wilcox joins me, I want to
ask him about the Packers, about Aaron Rodgers, if if
they're earning their stripes, And speaking of the stripes, what
happened to the Bengals last weekend. We'll talk about it
next in the dug Out the show
