Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please say hello to our friend mister Tommy Milner. Tommy,
what's up?
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Elliott?
Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hey dude, how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
I'm I'm doing all right, a little sore, but having fun.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'd say, Now, Tommy, I have to tell you I
am so happy with you for one thing and one
thing only.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (00:20):
You sticking that middle finger up in the air and
flipping off the iHeartRadio cars made me so happy.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I never never even considered that one.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
So what ended up happening there?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, So basically the quick little backstory is, so we
were leading the race there. We're down here in Daytona
for the twenty four hours of Daytona and myself in
the Corvette. We were leading and we were racing BMW
in second place. The BMW had a team car that
had an accident earlier in the race, and I guess
(01:01):
at some point the team told the driver to uh
just basically go out there they were like fifty six
laps down in the race, and told him to go
out and basically block me to help his teammate out.
So it was about twenty laps of the of the
sister car, the team car of the MW blocking me
(01:22):
and pushing me off the road a little bit, and uh,
finally the series gave him, gave him a penalty and
he was pulling off into the pits, and I just
wanted to let the driver know and the team know
how I felt about them, and that that was as
I was going by.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Hey, So on the on the clip, I didn't watch
all twenty four hours, Tommy, I think I saw about
twenty one. I saw twenty two and a half month,
twenty two.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
And a half.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Okay, that's that's decent. That's decent.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
The but like and I know that I know that
there that that that you two had had collided into
each other. Is that was that intentional in order to
help the teammate or was that just we got into
each other? Or is that is that maybe a difference
in perspective.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
I spoke with the driver of the of the car
that was holding me up to his laps down and
basically out of the race. He he was driving, he's
been racing sports cards for a long time. He's he's
a I raced with him the past two I would
consider him friend. He was driving very defensively and was
just basically making it nearly impossible for me to get by,
(02:30):
and the only way that that I could see at
the at the moment that I could get by was
either basically spinning him out or pushing him out and
risking damaging my car, which I didn't want to do.
And then in the end the lap that that I
collided with his teammate in the end, who was who
I was racing for first and second of the race.
(02:51):
He had really gone very slow right at the at
the apex of a corner, and I moved a little
bit left, I just lost lost track of the teammate
and I bumped into the side of him, which did
damage our car, not a ton. The car was still
still pretty fast at the end, but definitely not as
good as it was before that.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, because I saw part of the and I don't
know the exact name, but it looked like part of
that left bumper was just hanging off.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, So that was that was the biggest problem for us,
is we had to come in a couple of times
to fix that. In our series, we weren't allowed to
drive around with a bunch of body where were hanging
off and flying flying around, so we had to come
in and fix that. But we also had damage to
the suspension of the car as well from the contact.
So uh, not not how we wanted to finish the
race in the end, unfortunately, but as as my phone
(03:40):
has indicated and my friends and that kind of thing.
That's I'm not even sure most people know who won
the race. I think more people know that I that
I gave the BMW a piece of my mind than
spent anything else.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
And again, for me, it's the it's the double excitement.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Number one, I'm seeing Tommy all over the place with
given the rod. Number two, it's to the iHeartRadio car.
I've never been I've never been more happy.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Never just just for you.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Hey, by the I mean it's I feel like it's
been forever since we talked. How is everything?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yeah, really good, really good. Still still driving race cars obviously,
So that's that's uh priority number one. Got a little
family driving around the country right now in an RV
with him. So life is good, dude.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Good for you.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
You are in far better spirits than I feel like
I would be if I was in your position.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
But good for you, dude.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Thanks man. Yeah, it's it's uh, I mean, for sure,
it's nice to come back to the r V and
see my see my kids, who will give me a
hug most of the time, whether whether I've won the
race or I finished last, so that that part helps.
And then the Caps and the Caps are keeping me
pretty happy too, So.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Dude, how about how about the run they're on. Isn't
it crazy?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
It's crazy. It's fun to watch up.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
It is awesome. They are on fire. It's so good.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Hey, Tommy, I appreciate the phone call. Thank you, buddy, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
No problem, thank you, got it.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
We'll talk to you later. How awesome is that? It's great?
How awesome is that
