(00:00):
Good morning, Los Angeles. Thisis John bon Jovi with our brand new
single Legendary with me and Ellen kKai. John. Oh, doing so
great and you are doing amazing,Thanks Bib Trying, congratulations on everything.
We're so excited for your new singleThings. Yeah. I'm excited too.

(00:21):
It's going to be a hell ofa year for the band. Tell us,
Okay, where was she start?Let's start with Legendary out on the
fourteenth. So most of the songsare positive. I see they're written by
you, and I love the wordyou use. Free album Forever and then
legendary, And I'm thinking, what'sthe most legendary thing that you do in

(00:46):
life? Maybe on a daily basis, Like, for instance, Kevin Costner
told us that he has his dogsgroomed and then blow dried with a round
brush. I think that's the kindof legendary thing. And I'm wondering if
there's any diva but just like,oh, that's a legendary move, I
can't even remotely compare. No,I gotta tell you, I'm wearing the

(01:11):
same pair of dirty jeans and thesix black T shirts I own on a
daily basis, there is nothing thatveers that far out of the ordinary for
me. But I do appreciate thatKevin cost had all the history the dog
brushes, it's just so crazy, right, But tell us about writing legendary,

(01:36):
Well, this is one that Icollaborated on as a matter of fact,
and I'm very proud of because thelast record twenty twenty was much more
of a topical record. We hadall lived through COVID together as a planet.
No matter who you are, wehad all gone through that together.
So I was almost the narrator orthe reporter talking about all these topics.

(01:59):
And after that record, and withan eye on this fortieth anniversary, I
started to archive everything that we had, which was I mean all encompassing,
and I thought about a documentary forthe fortieth and met and hired on the
spot Gotham Chopra, who had donesomething for Tom Brady called The Man in

(02:21):
the Arena. Oh yeah, Isaw that's so good. I loved it,
and we set out on this journeyof archiving and doing the doc So
I didn't know what was about tohappen, which in my case was this
throat surgery, so we captured thatas well. So this film is an
honest portrayal of who and what eachof us are individually but collectively, and

(02:45):
the forty year journey that we've beenon and the ups and the downs in
the roller coaster ride. That makesit, honest to god career, not
just some you know, a momentin time and then on the other side
of it, the beautiful thing isthus far, I've really realized that this
album and where I'm at personally,I refound joy. Oh that's so nice.

(03:07):
I haven't had pure, unadulterated joyin a number of years, and
I didn't even know why. ButI've come to realize that, you know,
as a result of all of thisis that, oh, I could
be joyful and I know how.So by making the documentary, it was
almost like it was therapy. Itwas maybe just putting everything in perspective in

(03:29):
your life. It was a partof it, just a part of you
know, to see your life flashbefore you in real time and everybody's truths
being realized in the film as well. So it's not just my perspective obviously,
it's the band memory former managers. There's very few talking heads who had
anything that weren't members of the organizationthat are in this film and there's none

(03:52):
really of that. So that isa part of how I got to this
place. But I think it's itcomes with age, wisdom, life experience.
You know, we've all come outof COVID and so you saw the
sunshine a different way, a muchmore of an appreciation of the world around

(04:14):
us, and so I'm coming outlife from a different perspective, and as
a rock star. I think it'sreally amazing that someone like you and bon
Jovi traveling the world over and overand you see so many cultures and people
and then you realize we're all thesame. I'm sure that. Yeah,

(04:34):
you know, you were taught certainthings watching television. I remember going to
the Soviet Union in the eighties andgrowing up on Red Dawn and all the
scare of, you know, aRonald Reagan white house that you thought,
oh my god, these are thebad guys. I'm so afraid they're going
to New cust and you know, and sting, singing, I hope the
Russians love their children too, andall those kind of things. I went

(04:56):
to the Soviet Union. The glassthose commercial airliners that could be converted to
warships were prevalent. My room wasbugged but on the other hand, I
went, these are wonderful, warmpeople who just want to know what the
West is about. And after whenthe wall came down, it was like

(05:17):
they were they were on Mars becausethey found a whole different planet that was
wide open. You see, Y'llrealize, wait a bit, We're all
just people. Yes, it's thesame story. Everyone's got the same story,
just trying to get by, youknow, just trying to make your
family have food on the table andloving your own well. And that's why

(05:41):
music. I just love that. It's such a unifier, a global unifier.
And when when someone like yourself comesout, not only with the documentary,
but then you know, with thealbum, with this, with the
new single, it just we getto experience not just the joy of a
new single, but then the joyof your body work. And that's that's
what I love about artists like you, who who keep giving us this gift.

(06:06):
And I'm so excited, and weare. Everyone's excited. We were
telling everyone that we were talking toyou today, and the same sentiment is
you know, is widespread and feltthat way. It's it's really incredible.
I was out your way just acouple of weeks ago for the music cares
of it. Yeah, congrats onthe award. It was incredible, you

(06:29):
know, and you're hearing that catalogof music performed by others, you know,
as you just get to sit thereand enjoy it, and it was
humbling, and you know, broughtup a lot of memories of writing and
where we were at that time wheneach of us, you know, made
those records, and yeah, beautifulthing. I imagine it was emotional as
well. Yeah, I mean I'vegot Paul McCartney sitting to my left,

(06:54):
to my right, and I said, if my wife changes the placement of
this table, we're yeah, I'mgonna throw a fit. Yeah. I
don't see you like that, JohnBonjo, but you seem like a just
easy going, roll with it kindof guy for that instance. Well,
congrats. We got the album comingout in June, Yeah, June the

(07:17):
seventh, and the single Now anddocu series hits Hulu on April the twenty
sixth. Rats,
